FBI infiltrators comprised, at the very least, 26 percent of the plotters. That is, at least five FBI operatives have been disclosed, against just 14 suspects indicted. A look at the annotated indictment reveals that at every level of the plot, FBI operatives played the most important leadership roles:
- The plot’s “explosives expert,” who the plotters were accused of planning to buy bombs from, turned out to be an FBI agent.
- The head of transportation for the militia outfit turned out to be an undercover FBI agent.
- The head of security for the militia outfit turned out to be an undercover FBI informant.
- At least two undercover FBI informants were active participants in the initial June 6, 2020 meeting in which the plot to storm Capitol buildings was allegedly hatched — meaning at least three FBI informants infiltrated before the conspiracy even started.
Now this information has to do with an alleged plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. A plot that the FBI claims to have foiled. Of course they foiled it, when they appear to have actually plotted it as well. If almost all of the instigation and leadership came from undercover agents, I would hope that the FBI could stop it.
In fact, when the FBI came to stop the plot and started to arrest people. 60% of those alleged kidnappers at the scene were actually undercover FBI. Nice.
According to more of the documentation available, pretty much all of the funding involved came from the FBI agents. Moreover it was an FBI agent who reached out to other FBI agents as to how to get tactical equipment, weapons, and explosives. They were even involved in initial meetings, likely as the people setting them up. At this point there are at least five known FBI undercover agents involved, as well as lord knows how many "informants" (people under the wing of the FBI). They had infiltrated and were involved prior to even the first meeting.

A St. Louis couple who gained notoriety for waving guns at racial justice protesters last summer pleaded guilty Thursday to misdemeanor charges and agreed to give up the guns they used during the confrontation.
Video and photographs of rifle-wielding Mark McCloskey and pistol-toting Patricia McCloskey in front of their mansion on June 28 captured the attention of the country, including then-President Donald Trump, who spoke out in defense of the couple. Trump and other Republicans considered the McCloskeys law-abiding homeowners defending their property. Others saw the couple as overly aggressive toward protesters who were marching through the gated community to the home of then-Mayor Lyda Krewson amid nationwide protests after a police officer killed George Floyd in Minneapolis.
The couple, both personal injury attorneys, faced felony firearm charges after the menacing display in front of their marble-faced palazzo home but ultimately pleaded guilty to lesser charges.
Patricia McCloskey, 61, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment and was fined $2,000. Mark McCloskey, 63, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor fourth-degree assault and was fined $750.
Neither will face jail time.
Because the charges are misdemeanors, the couple can continue practicing law in Missouri.

Border Patrol finds 33 illegal immigrants packed into a U-Haul
Border Patrol agents in Texas found 33 illegal immigrants crammed inside a U-Haul last week as temperatures reached 100-degrees.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents made the discovery last Thursday outside of a McDonald's restaurant in the west Texas town of Van Horn, Fox News reported.
Many of those inside were 'close to perishing due to excessive heat,' border patrol agents announced late Tuesday, as the truck did not have any fresh air and temperatures hovered near 100-degrees.

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said he hasn't heard from Vice President Harris since she was appointed by President Biden as the border czar to address the migrant crisis back in March.
During an interview Tuesday's episode of the Ruthless podcast, Abbott was asked by co-host Josh Holmes if Harris has "even so much has placed a phone call" to him regarding the surge of illegal immigrants that the Lone Star State has faced this year.
"No. So I haven't," Abbott responded. "The president hasn't called. The vice president hasn't called. The only person I've talked to are some folks in the Department of Homeland Security. And that was a long time ago.
He continued, "They have a game of pretend going on. They are pretending that the Texas border does not exist because they're not talking about it either publicly or privately or calling us or anything else like that. They just have this attitude that the Texas border with Mexico does not exist."

For the third time, the U.S. Supreme Court saved the Affordable Care Act of 2010, a.k.a. Obamacare, when it handed down its decision in Texas v. California on Thursday, June 17. A Republican lawsuit made the ridiculous argument that because the "individual mandate" had been removed from Obamacare, the entire law needed to be struck down — an argument so absurd that even a right-wing Supreme Court threw the lawsuit out. And journalist Ian Millhiser, in an article published in Vox on June 17, explains why the decision was so brutal for Republicans who hoped to abolish the ACA through the courts.
The Supreme Court's ruling in Texas v. California was a 7-2 decision, and the only dissenters were Justice Neal Gorsuch and Justice Samuel Alito. Even hard-right ideologues such as Justice Clarence Thomas, Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Justice Amy Coney Barrett saw no merit in the lawsuit. None of that is to say that Obamacare's future is guaranteed, but the High Court's decision sent out a message that if Republicans are going to abolish the ACA, it will have to be done by Congress. And that is a possibility if Republicans recapture the White House and both branches of Congress in the future. Obamacare, it appears, is safe until at least January 2025.
"For the third time since the Affordable Care Act became law in 2010, the Supreme Court rejected a call for it to sabotage that law — this time, in an unusually dismissive opinion," Millhiser explains. "The Court's brief decision in California v. Texas, issued Thursday, ultimately concludes that the plaintiffs trying to undo the law had no business being in court in the first place."
Millhiser notes that in 2017, "Congress amended Obamacare to zero out" the "individual mandate." The ACA was tweaked in 2017, but it wasn't abolished. The plaintiffs in California v. Texas claimed that without the "individual mandate," the entire law had to go.
"The Texas plaintiffs didn't just claim that this zeroed-out tax is unconstitutional — on the theory that a zero-dollar tax can't be an exercise of Congress' taxing power — they claimed that the entire law must be declared invalid if the zero dollar tax is stuck down," Millhiser points out. "It was an audacious ask of the Supreme Court — requesting the justices strike down the entire law despite only claiming that a single provision of Obamacare is unconstitutional. Especially since the provision that the plaintiffs challenged literally does nothing at all."
The Republicans have been trying to repeal Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Obama from day one of them.
Even the conservative nominees followed the Constitution, not the anti-fascist Republicans party philosophy.

I think it is so cool that we have a brand new shiny holiday to celebrate the achievements of prominent African-American's like this young lady. She's obviously a pillar of her community and is setting an example for others in her community to strive for.
One can only hope that an Ivy League institution of higher learning can notice her and offer a full scholarship so she can enrich the academy with her contributions and diversity.
Personally I am in awe, and I'm not ashamed to admit that this story brought a tear to my eye.
So inspiring.

For Republicans, the preferred narrative of race and American history is one that minimizes the harm done to Black people, overstates white virtue and insists that racism is a personal prejudice in the minds of misguided or amoral people, rather than a system that structures cultures and institutions. Racism was a problem, this story tells us (with an emphasis on the past tense) because some white people made an error; it’s not a problem any more, because those white people have been edified. This version of American history has placed racist injustice squarely in the past, but also, it quarantines racism in individual minds, rather than recognizing it as an infection that has contaminated our culture. Racism, in this telling, is primarily a matter of personality, of individual white people’s souls.
But much modern anti-racist thinking rejects this. The 1619 Project positions Black people, and their enslavement, as central to America’s history, positioning the enslaved not merely footnotes or minor characters, but protagonists. And the real critical race theory that is practiced in law schools does not seem to be concerned with white people’s souls so much as with Black people’s material conditions. Maybe this is part of what Republicans don’t like about these versions of anti-racist thought: they remove white people, and white people’s feelings, from the center of the story.
After all, when racism is merely a personal idiosyncrasy, and not a systemic condition, nothing is required of white people, or of the institutions they control, except to deny that they feel hate in their hearts. But if racism is a foundational reality, and not just a personal prejudice, then much bigger changes have to be made – and more is required of white people than personal innocence.
Scott and the truthers chose to be racist.

Hey alky,
Here's the twat that wrote the shit you plagiarized from the Guardian.
She's a real fucking peach:
In a decision with potentially large ramifications, New York federal judge LaShann DeArcy Hall won’t dismiss a libel suit against “Shitty Media Men” creator Moira Donegan.
The complaint comes from Stephen Elliott, a widely published author and director of About Cherry and Happy Baby who was upset about his inclusion in a spreadsheet that circulated in the wake of allegations against Harvey Weinstein. That spreadsheet — called “Shitty Media Men” — allowed women to anonymously contribute stories of being victims of sexual misconduct. Elliott had an entry. He allegedly was someone facing “rape accusations, sexual harassment, [and] coercion.”
Elliott claims Donegan and various anonymous women defamed him, and the starting point for this case was the question of whether Elliott was a public figure who would have to show actual malice.
In today’s decision, Judge Hall defines the issue of who qualifies as a limited-purpose public figure rather narrowly, specifically on the issue of whether Elliott voluntarily injected himself into a public controversy.
In defining that public controversy, the judge says it is “inextricably linked to what has been called, in shorthand, the ‘#MeToo’ movement,” and not just any aspect of “sex, consent, morality and power” but in particular, the judge says “the burgeoning #MeToo movement was focused on how power dynamics and outdated expectations of gender roles in the workplace have worked to silence women.”
Elliott may have written about sex and power, but that’s not enough, in the judge’s eyes.
“Plaintiff’s degree of involvement in a controversy surrounding sexual assault, sexual harassment and consent in the workplace, if any, is de minimis,” states the opinion. “Defendant directed the Court to only a few tangential references to sexual harassment or lewd jokes in the workplace in Plaintiff’s writing and interviews. And the Court is not willing to find that Plaintiff’s more extensive writings and interviews about sex, BDSM, and sexual assault—unrelated to workplace issues—transforms him into a public figure with respect to the controversy here.”
Since Elliott isn’t deemed to be a public figure, his burdens in this defamation claim are lower, and he’s able to survive a motion to dismiss. As a result of this, the case is headed toward exploration of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, the very same law that is the subject of controversy these days for affording tech services immunity for third party content.
