The same holds true in Minneapolis, Seattle, and Portland...

Most Riot, Looting Cases From Last Year Dropped by NYC DAs
NYPD data reviewed by the NBC New York I-Team shows 118 arrests were made in the Bronx during the worst of the looting in early June. Since then, the NYPD says the Bronx DA and the courts have dismissed most of those cases – 73 in all. Eighteen cases remain open and there have been 19 convictions for mostly lesser counts like trespassing, counts which carry no jail time.
In Manhattan, the NYPD data shows there were 485 arrests. Of those cases, 222 were later dropped and 73 seeing convictions for lesser counts like trespassing, which carries no jail time. Another 40 cases involved juveniles and were sent to family court; 128 cases remain open.

During the Capital riot there was a big stink provided because one of the police officers suffered an eye injury that might cost him his sight in one eye. In Portland alone, over a 100 police officers have suffered eye damage that includes temporary or even permanent blindness or other sight related issues.  In the capital riots there was a police officer who had cracked ribs and injuries to a spinal disk. Over 100 different officers have suffered broken bones while combatting Antifa and BLM riots.  During the Capital riots there were a couple of officers who suffered concussions. Dozens of police officers have suffered concussions related to Antifa and BLM riots.

Meanwhile, the Government continues to fly around the nation, picking up Capital Rioters and sometimes holding them without bail for crimes that are not even violent. But New York, Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, and other cities are refusing to press charges against even those rioters known to have attacked police officers and caused injuries.

The New York City officials claim that they haven't the time or resources to work through all of these cases. But of course, they have the time and resources to have put together an entire task force to see if they can dig through Donald Trump's business dealings in search of a crime that they have not yet found.

This version of the Republican party of today is the same thing as the Soviet Union. It's not Communist, it is an authoritarian party today.

In the last few weeks, you and the right wing nutcase websites have been calling the FBI, CIA and the Department Of Justice, are Democrats, not non partisan. But Democrats determined to imprison the Insurrectionists, because they were just tourists who gased police officers and assaulted them with flag posts and again probably caused the stroke that killed officer Sicknick.

Undermining confidence in institutions is a classic tactic in history of how dictators rose to power.

Of topic but..

The WND believes that CIA was created to protect the people like the corrupt people like Sleepy Joe.

Unknown to the artists, the new American art was secretly promoted under a policy known as the “long leash”…..The decision to include culture and art in the US Cold War arsenal was taken as soon as the CIA was founded in 1947…. the new agency set up a division, the Propaganda Assets Inventory, which at its peak could influence more than 800 newspapers, magazines and public information organisations.

They joked that it was like a Wurlitzer jukebox: when the CIA pushed a button it could hear whatever tune it wanted playing across the world.
The next key step came in 1950, when the International Organisations Division (IOD) was set up under Tom Braden. It was this office which subsidised the animated version of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, which sponsored American jazz artists, opera recitals, the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s international touring programme. Its agents were placed in the film industry, in publishing houses, even as travel writers for the celebrated Fodor guides. And, we now know, it promoted America’s anarchic avant-garde movement, Abstract Expressionism.”

Fast forward to the Hunter Biden conundrum. Under the soft scrutiny of the media, Hunter Biden has been allowed to walk away as the intermediary for his family’s pay to play scheme that violates the oval office and jeopardizes national security.

And now suddenly Hunter Biden is selling abstract paintings for $500,000 a piece to unknown nefarious donors and those donors will remain confidential. In comparison, an average Salvador Dali painting can cost a mere $50,000.  Something smells rotten in Denmark. Of course, Hunter’s resume of zero experience continues to land him the big money from the big guy.  As Hunter has zero experience as a painter.

Just how stupid does the Biden crime family think the American people are? But if they get away with this, they can absolutely get away with anything.

Art is corrupt communist domination LMAO

Demonstrations in response to the murder of George!were not an attempted revolution.

WASHINGTON — The FBI director and other senior officials have consistently downplayed the intelligence value of social media posts by Trump supporters prior to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, suggesting the bureau had no "actionable" warning that the Capitol would be targeted by a mob.

But according to a document entered into court records last week, an FBI agent acknowledged in a February investigative report that angry Trump supporters were talking openly in the days before the riot about bringing guns to the Capitol to start a "revolution."

"A review of open source and social media posts leading up to and during the event indicates that individuals participating on the 'Stop the Steal,' rally were angered about the results of the 2020 presidential election and felt that Joseph Biden had unlawfully been declared 'President-Elect,'" said the report by FBI Special Agent Patricia Norden. "Users in multiple online groups and platforms discussed traveling to the Capitol armed or making plans to start a 'revolution' on that day."

That's why the Republicans are scared of a January 6th investigation.

U.S. stocks climbed on Monday as the market recouped some of the steep losses caused by the Federal Reserve’s policy shift.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 586.89 points, or 1.8%, to 33,876.97 to post its best day since March 5.
The blue-chip benchmark suffered from its worst week since October. The S&P 500 gained 1.4% to 4,224.79, sitting within 1% from its record high after Monday’s comeback rally. The Nasdaq Composite was the relative underperformer with a 0.8% gain to 14,141.48 as some key tech names including Amazon, Tesla Nvidia and Netflix registered losses.

Commodity stocks that were hit hard last week led the market comeback on Monday as the S&P 500 energy sector rallied 4.3%. Devon Energy and Occidental Petroleum jumped nearly 7% each. Reopening plays including Norwegian Cruise Line and Boeing both climbing more than 3%. Banks including JPMorgan, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs also rebounded. Small caps Russell 2000 jumped 2.2%.

These sectors tied to the economic recovery led last week’s sell-off in stocks. The S&P 500 financials and materials sectors lost more than 6% on the week, while energy fell more than 5% and industrials dropped more than 3%.

U.S. stocks fell last week as investors digested new economic projections from the Fed and worried rate hikes could come sooner than expected. The central bank on Wednesday raised its inflation expectations and forecast rate hikes in 2023.

“The Fed inspired sell off looks like it was overdone,” said Fiona Cincotta, senior financial markets analyst at City Index. “The Fed’s sudden hawkish shift last week, with two interest rate hikes now expected in 2023 caught the market off guard.”

St. Louis Fed President Jim Bullard told CNBC Friday that it was natural for the central bank to tilt a little more “hawkish” and saw higher interest rates as soon as 2022.

The Grand Old Party, founded in 1854 in Ripon, Wisconsin, is now dead. What’s left is a dwindling number of elected officials who have stood up to Mr. Trump but are now being purged. Even Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s popularity has dropped 29 points among Kentucky Republicans since he broke with Mr. Trump.

In its place is the Trump Party, whose major goal is to advance Mr. Trump’s Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen from him. Its agenda is to exact vengeance on Republicans who didn’t or won’t support the lie or who voted to impeach or convict Mr. Trump for inciting the violence that the lie generated, and to keep attention on his grievances.

As the Trump Party takes over the GOP, anti-Trump Republicans are abandoning the party in droves — thereby weakening it for general elections while simultaneously strengthening Mr. Trump’s hand inside it.

It’s great news for Democrats and Joe Biden.

Democrats couldn’t hope for a more perfect foil — a defeated one-term president who never cracked 47 percent of the popular vote, left office with just 39 percent approval and is now hovering at an abysmal 34 percent, whom most Americans dislike or loathe, and a majority believe incited an insurrection against the United States.

And the new news is that they want to revolution like in 1862.

American bishops seek to deny Biden Communion: 'We've never had a situation like this'
Yahoo News
CHLOE XIANG
June 21, 2021, 1:51 PM

The Roman Catholic bishops of the U.S. voted on Friday to begin drafting new guidance that could deny President Biden and other pro-choice public officials Communion due to their support of abortion rights, placing Biden at the center of a political and religious clash.

The draft document will define the meaning of the Eucharist, or Holy Communion, a ritual that is part of every Mass and, according to Catholic teaching, transforms bread and wine into the physical body and blood of Jesus Christ.

According to America, a Jesuit magazine, a section of the proposed document would “include the theological foundation for the Church’s discipline concerning the reception of Holy Communion and a special call for those Catholics who are cultural, political, or parochial leaders to witness the faith.”

Conservative bishops want to use that as a pretext to deny pro-choice leaders like Biden from receiving Communion.

After three days of debate at a virtual meeting of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, 73 percent of attendees voted in favor of drafting the document, while 24 percent were opposed.

President Biden is a committed Catholic who, in the political arena, supports abortion rights.

While the USCCB will not name Biden in the document, the debate surrounding Communion has been heavily focused on the nation’s second Catholic president, making it clear he is the motivating factor behind the proposed draft.

“It seems to me this is an unprecedented situation in the country,” Bishop Liam Cary, the head of the diocese of Baker, Ore., said during the debate before the vote on Friday. “We’ve never had a situation like this where the executive is a Catholic president who is opposed to the teaching of the church.”

Biden’s Catholic faith has played a large role in his life and career in politics. He attends Mass every Sunday, carries a rosary in his pocket and often includes Catholic references in his speeches. According to NPR, Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., who has known Biden for decades, said his positions on political issues go back to "a deeply rooted sense of fairness that he learned from his parents and from the nuns and priests who educated and helped raise him."

In response to the bishops’ vote, Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., called them “partisan hypocrites” in a series of tweets for not denying Communion to Republican figures such as William Barr, WHO RESUMED DEATH PENALTY EXECUTIONS after nearly two decades during his tenure as attorney general in the Trump administration.

Sixty Catholic Democratic lawmakers have released a statement in response to the vote, urging the USCCB not to formalize the practice of withholding the Eucharist based on political beliefs.

“The Sacrament of Holy Communion is central to the life of practicing Catholics, and the weaponization of the Eucharist to Democratic lawmakers for their support of a woman’s safe and legal access to abortion is contradictory. NO ELECTED OFFICIALS have been threatened with being denied the Eucharist AS THEY SUPPORT AND HAVE SUPPORTED POLICIES CONTRARY TO THE CHURCH TEACHINGS,” the statement read.

Catholic bishops who do not support the document have also emphasized the potential for it to create more division and exclusion within the faith community.

“Once we legitimate public-policy-based Eucharistic exclusion as a regular part of our teaching office — and that is the road to which we are headed — we will invite all of the political animosities that so tragically divide our nation into the very heart of the Eucharistic celebration,” Bishop Robert McElroy of San Diego warned. “That sacrament which seeks to make us one will become for millions of Catholics a sign of division."

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

This is not the first time that members of the clergy have tried to withhold Communion from Biden due to his views on abortion. In 2019 he was denied Communion at a Catholic church in South Carolina. Earlier this year, more than 4,300 members of the Notre Dame community signed a petition asking the Catholic university not to invite the president.

While Biden has said as recently as 2012 that he agrees with the Catholic Church’s view on abortion, he has refused to impose his religious beliefs on his political policy. When campaigning for the vice presidency, he said: “I do not believe we have a right to tell women that they can’t control their body. It’s a decision between them and their doctor.”

Pro-choice organizations such as Planned Parenthood endorsed Biden in 2020, and after he was elected he proposed a budget in May that would reverse a ban on federal funding of abortion.

Biden’s perspective on abortion seems to reflect that of a MAJORITY of U.S. CATHOLICS. A 2019 Pew Research Center survey found that 61 percent of American Catholics over the age of 18 said abortion should be kept legal, while 38 percent said it should be outlawed.

A March Pew Research Center survey found that 67 percent of U.S. Catholics would allow Biden to receive Communion, while 29 percent said he should not be allowed to receive it. While 87 percent of Democrats or those who lean left would allow him to receive Communion, less than half (44 percent) of Republicans agree.

The decision to draft the document also comes in defiance of warnings issued from the Vatican. In May, Pope Francis’s top doctrinal official, Cardinal Luis Ladaria, sent a letter to the USCCB warning that the vote could “become a source of discord rather than unity within the episcopate and the larger church in the United States.”

The decision to ignore the Vatican, church scholars say, illustrates a conservative backlash within the church in response to the relatively progressive philosophies of Biden and Pope Francis.

“The convergence of a relatively progressive pope and a moderately progressive United States president causes some alarms for some of the so-called traditional or conservative Catholics, who feel their positioning in the faith community is under some threat,” Mark J. Rozell, a political scientist and author, told the Washington Post.

The vote to draft new guidelines surrounding the Eucharist is only the first step. The next USCCB meeting, which is scheduled for November, will allow the bishops to amend the proposed document before voting on its approval.

However, the document can serve only as a guideline and cannot dictate who can or cannot receive Communion. That decision is left to the discretion of the local bishop or the pope. Wilton Gregory, Washington, D.C.’s archbishop, has already said he will not deny Communion to the president.

WHAT ABOUT ALL THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS WHO SUPPORT CAPITAL PUNISHMENT, WHICH THE CHURCH OPPOSES?

ARE THEY GOING TO BE DENIED COMMUNION AS WELL?

WHY WASN'T BARR DENIED COMMUNION?

‘How despicable is Donald Trump?’ Schumer blasts ex-president as GOP prepares to block major voting rights bill
Alex Woodward
Mon, June 21, 2021

Chuck Schumer condemned Donald Trump’s persistent “stolen election” narrative and its invasive influence in Republican-dominated state legislatures as the Democratic Senate Majority Leader challenged his GOP colleagues to allow a debate over a sweeping voting rights bill.

“How despicable a man is Donald Trump?” Mr Schumer said.
“He lost an election legitimately. He can’t face that, that it was his failure, and he creates a lie, a big lie, and wins so many people over to that lie with the help of news media and other news commentators who are lying as well, and they know it.”

Those “despicable lies” have “lit a fire beneath Republican state legislatures” that have launched one of the largest voter suppression efforts “in at least 80 years,” he added.

The New York senator – facing unanimous Republican resistance against the White House-backed For The People Act – said that the Senate will vote on 22 June to begin debate on the bill, though he made it clear that Democrats want to put Republicans on record over whether they even want to have a debate about voting rights. AMEN!

“It’s not a vote on any particular policy,” he said. “Not a vote on this bill or that bill. It’s a vote on whether the Senate should simply debate voting rights.”

Republican Senators have flatly rejected the bill, which has widespread bipartisan support among American voters, while accusing Democrats of trying to rig future elections by expanding voting access.

The bill proposes automatic voter registration, mandating at least 15 consecutive days of early voting, lifting restrictions on mail-in voting, ending partisan gerrymandering, and putting in place several campaign finance and ethics measures that expose “dark money” backers.

Democrats passed the measure in the House of Representatives in March.

Republican lawmakers in nearly every state filed nearly 400 bills in 2021 to roll back vote-by-mail options, impose strict voter ID requirements, cut back on early voting hours and put in place other obstacles that would make it more difficult, not easier, to vote.

Of those measures, at least 14 states have enacted 22 new laws that restrict access to the ballot, according to the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law.

In his remarks on the Senate floor on Monday, Senator Schumer also brought attention to “sinister” parallel efforts among Republican state lawmakers to “give more power to themselves and other partisan bodies to undermine, override and neuter” elections laws and “actively” remove the barriers that prevented Mr Trump from overturning millions of Americans’ votes, he said.

GOP lawmakers have introduced at least 216 bills in 41 states to give themselves more authority over the electoral process, according to the States United Democracy Center. At least 24 of those bills have been signed into law in 14 states.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

Senate Republicans have also rejected a “compromise” voting rights bill from moderate Democrat Joe Manchin, who has opposed both the For The People Act and reforming a filibuster that prevents a simple majority – which Democrats hold in an evenly divided Senate – from passing critical items on their agenda.

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell also rejects a restoration of the Voting Rights Act, the landmark 1965 civil rights measure that the US Supreme Court gutted in 2013, allowing states to enact election policies without federal reviews despite their histories of discrimination.

“We certainly hope” Democrats will be “aligned” in a united front to begin debate on the For The People Act on Tuesday, said White House press secretary Jen Psaki.

“It’s important to remember this has been a 60-year battle to make voting more accessible, more available, to Americans across the country,” she said. “This will be a fight of his presidency.”

Last month, Senate Republicans’ first successful legislative filibuster in the current Congress blocked the formation of a bipartisan commission to investigate the Capitol riot and its aftermath. (AN ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE ACT OF COWARDLY TOADYISM TO TRUMP.

California, Facing Power Crisis, Frets Over Electric Car Charging Routines

As temperatures hit triple digits during California's heat wave last week, the state's power grid operators encouraged residents to relieve pressure on the grid by charging their electric vehicles before the peak energy use times of day.

...

Matthew Moniot, a researcher with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, said during a recent interview with Newsweek that electric vehicle owners now mostly charge their vehicles at night, but that will likely have to change so that more drivers are charging while energy production levels are higher.

"If you look at aggregate load across the grid, it tends to spike in the evening hours whenever people come home," Moniot said. Though energy use tends to dip overnight while people are sleeping, that is also the time when less energy is produced by solar and wind, both of which are energy sources Moniot said will be increasingly relied upon as states like California continue embracing clean energy.

Increased reliance on solar and wind energy will present a "tricky problem" regarding "how much can we move what's currently overnight charging to be during the daytime hours, when generation may be more excessive," Moniot said.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/california-facing-power-crisis-frets-over-electric-car-charging-routines/ar-AALhUrP

So don't charge when there is little clean energy production - (night)

And don't charge when there is peak usage (summer days)

could be a problem in summer months in California when they do rolling daytime blackouts...

“John Demers, head of the Justice Department’s national security division, said the sole time in his three-year tenure he considered resigning came when the agency fell under pressure from Trump to pursue baseless claims of election fraud.

“In early January, Mr. Trump was threatening to fire the acting attorney general over the sought-after election investigation, and, Mr. Demers recalled Monday, he was trying to figure out who would sign foreign intelligence surveillance requests and conduct other agency business if he resigned in protest along with other leading officials.”

will now continue that practice permanently, for at least general elections: Nevada and Vermont. Several other states are moving to allow no-excuse mail voting permanently, after allowing it temporarily while Covid-19 raged in 2020.

“And while many of the state-level expansions of voting programs are happening in blue states, some red states have made changes as well. Kentucky, where Republicans have legislative supermajorities and Trump won the presidential contest by 25 points in 2020, codified in-person early voting for the first time this year.”

GOP Loses Foothold In Big Cities

New York Times:
“The realignment of national politics around urban-versus-rural divisions has seemingly doomed Republicans in these areas as surely as it has all but eradicated the Democratic Party as a force across the Plains and the Upper Mountain West. At the national level, Republicans have largely accepted that trade-off as advantageous, since the structure of the federal government gives disproportionate power to sparsely populated rural states.

“But the party’s growing irrelevance in urban and suburban areas also comes at a considerable cost, denying conservatives influence over the policies that govern much of the population and sidelining them in some of the country’s centers of innovation and economic might.

"The trend has helped turn formerly red states, like Georgia and Arizona, into purple battlegrounds as their largest cities and suburbs have grown larger and more ethnically mixed.”

Pay for factory jobs has grown so slowly in the U.S. that manufacturers are having trouble competing with fast-food restaurants.

Take Western Michigan, home to many office-furniture and car-parts factories as well as a growing tourism industry. Restaurants and hotels along Lake Michigan have been hiring rapidly as people, kept fairly stationary during the pandemic, start traveling again. The shift is making it harder for factories to staff their production lines, and the added demand has increased both openings and the rate at which workers leave their jobs.

Ann Harten, head of human resources at furniture maker Haworth Inc., said her company is looking beyond the unemployment lines and needs to hire applicants away from their current jobs as the economy recovers and the labor market tightens. “We have competition for labor outside of our industry,” she said.

As consumers deal with starkly higher prices than a year ago, the Federal Reserve has maintained its stance that high inflation, the increase in the price consumers pay for goods and services, isn’t expected to last very long.

The Fed tweaked its outlook and now expects to raise interest rates by late 2023—sooner than previously anticipated—noting progress in economic activity and employment.

And while inflation’s 13-year high, as measured by the annual change in the consumer-price index from a year earlier, has caused concern, the central bank restated its belief that the rise in prices is “largely reflecting transitory factors.”

Do you think inflation will be rampant as the economy recovers? Why or why not? Join the conversation below.

The Fed cuts its benchmark interest rate in economic downturns to lower borrowing costs and boost activity. When the economy is thriving, prices rise and the Fed tends to raise rates to keep inflation from climbing too far above its 2% target. Its preferred gauge, the personal-consumption expenditures price index, typically tracks just below the consumer-price index.

A sudden burst in consumer demand from the economy reopening and an imbalance in supply disruptions are among the main factors driving up prices compared with the same period last year.

Adjusting for the base effect

Another much-discussed consideration is the importance of the so-called base effect, which is the outsize impact when comparing change from one year that was unusual to the next. This can be caused by an economic anomaly—like last year’s pandemic lockdown, when prices dropped.

WASHINGTON—Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said Monday that job growth should pick up in coming months and temporary inflation pressures should ease as the economy continues to recover from the effects of the pandemic.

“The economy has shown sustained improvement,” Mr. Powell said in testimony prepared for delivery Tuesday on Capitol Hill, noting progress on vaccinations and vast stimulus efforts by Congress and the Fed.

FACT CHECK - TRUE

By Anne Lutz Fernandez, high school English teacher

Following George Floyd’s murder last year, my principal emailed parents with suggested readings to help students understand the protests sweeping the nation. Teachers were given the green light — if we felt comfortable — to discuss the events in class. Parents in our purple suburb seemed to appreciate this modest effort, but someone who didn’t alerted a right-wing media personality, who made the innocuous email his outrage de nuit.

America’s K-12 schools, like the high school I teach in, are no hubs of radical indoctrination, though right-leaning newsertainment might convince you otherwise.

America’s K-12 schools, like the high school I teach in, are no hubs of radical indoctrination, though right-leaning newsertainment might convince you otherwise. Fox News headlines suggest schoolchildren are busy learning how to concoct rhetorical Molotov cocktails from a cadre of Marxists: “Teachers, unions and education officials push ‘woke,’ leftist policies in schools,” “Ingraham: Schools want ‘complete and total control’ with American taxpayer-funded ‘fiefdoms of radicalism.’”

Now a rash of legislation in mostly red states seeks to restrict instruction and curriculum around “divisive concepts” through laws largely meant to curtail teaching about systemic racism. If that doesn’t read as chilling, it should. Put another way, politicians are dictating how the public learns about history —and the history those politicians are making. Some of the bills, like the one Gov. Greg Abbott just signed in Texas, place restrictions on current events instruction that teachers recognize as potentially paralyzing.

The truth about ‘critical race theory’: co-founder breaks down GOP gaslighting

This legislative movement received a big push from the demonization of the New York Times’ 1619 Project and from Trump’s short-lived 1776 Commission. But it has its roots in decades of conservative accusations of liberal bias in the teaching ranks. Yes, teachers are more liberal than the nation at large, but not dramatically. A 2017 Education Week survey found 41 percent self-identified as Democrats, higher than the 33 percent of registered voters polled by Pew around the same time. Just as many teachers as voters overall were Republicans.

And that doesn’t take into account how hard many teachers work to keep their politics out of the classroom. For many, this is a pride point; they want to produce independent thinkers, not clones. For others, it’s fear; they want to avoid complaints from parents, reprisals from administrators, or swarming by trolls.

That’s not to say teachers always succeed in remaining apolitical — or that it’s even possible.

OPINIONTexas Republicans take aim

Teachers I interviewed for my book “Schooled” see their mission as developing skills and delivering content but also helping shape future adults; some envision their grown students as empowered citizens or global innovators, others as family-focused traditionalists. Because education is value-driven, the profession is inescapably political. Some teachers definitely embrace this by updating curriculum to reflect the concerns of their students and the nation. Today, as ever, these often involve issues of race and gender.

But the profession is hardly a leftist cabal.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Strangers on social media occasionally accuse me of indoctrinating my students, and I sadly laugh. I’m a terrible indoctrinator. People who presume I wield my liberal politics in the classroom like a medieval weapon might be surprised by how barely they could detect its influence there. I rant on Twitter with like-minded adults, but put me in front of teenagers, and I will both-sides an issue to its end. In trying not to be controversial when addressing controversies, I am more rule than exception.

Evidence abounds that educators tend to avoid rather than dive into politically hot topics. Such hesitancy has consequences. For example, this reticence, coupled with the politicized micromanaging of curriculum at state and local levels, has had a clear and negative impact on the sciences. The National Center for Science Education found a third “of high school biology teachers fail to unequivocally acknowledge the scientific consensus on evolution” and while 70 percent of secondary science teachers agree climate change is human-made, only 30 percent highlight this scientific consensus to students. Indeed, teachers have lagged rather than led public opinion on progressive issues. An NPR/Ipsos survey, for example, showed parents are more eager for their children to learn about climate change than teachers are to teach it.

Today’s “divisive concepts” legislation focuses on history, though it will affect other subjects, especially literature and language. Here, accusations of liberal indoctrination rely on anecdotes. The legislator responsible for Ohio’s bill, when pressed, could not even come up with one. Instead, he essentially admitted the bill was responding not to the reality in schools but to “concerns,” that is, the unsubstantiated fears the bill both gives credence to and stokes.

Other recent scholarship also suggests teachers are not using current events to initiate militant leftists. A 2020 study that examined how social studies teachers evaluate news concluded that left-leaning ones “may describe, frame, and present a much wider set of sources as credible in their classrooms than their

Healthy debate and essential education will be stunted by “divisive concepts” legislation. While political pressure has long silenced teachers, these laws and the likely further silencing they will produce is especially dangerous in a time when the very fact of a violent invasion of the U.S. Capitol is disputed and deemed political. Today, shutting down speech on “divisive concepts” means shutting down discussion of our democracy — and the grave threats to it among the young people we will rely on to preserve it.

And of course Russia Russia Russia Russia Russia Russia Russia Russia Russia Russia Russia Russia Russia

Speculating that the FBI possibly infiltrated groups on the FBI’s naughty list then provoked criminal activity on January 6 is a “conspiracy theory,” according to pundits on the Left and putative Right. A carefully constructed exposé at Revolver News published last week and amplified by Tucker Carlson on Fox News is stoking outrage from the usual suspects.

Jim Acosta, a reporter at the cable network that perpetuated bullshit tales of Trump-Russia collusion for years, said Carlson deserved a “Bullshit Factory of the Month” award for suggesting several unindicted coconspirators are FBI operatives.

“Tucker Carlson takes a great leap of faith here when he says that FBI agents were involved, therefore they were operatives therefore they organized it,” one self-proclaimed expert told the New York Times. “There’s just no evidence of that.”

But the great leap of faith, of course, is to assume the FBI played no role in an event now used as a pretext to authorize government agencies, from the Justice Department to Homeland Security, to pursue Americans on the political Right. This especially includes people FBI Director Christopher Wray calls “domestic violent extremists,” code for Trump supporters. Every FBI field office, Wray brags, is involved in the nationwide manhunt to find and arrest anyone who participated in the January 6 protest, including those who did nothing more than allegedly trespass on public property.

FBI agent acknowledges Trump supporters discussed 'revolution' prior to Capitol riot

June 21, 2021, 10:09 AM PDT

By Ken Dilanian

Eventually we will see that the FBI was doing its job to protect and defend the Constitution of the United states of, from enemies both foreign and domestic terrorism.
