Won't this be a blow to all of those who hate the bad orange man

Trump lawyer: Manhattan DA won't charge former president
According to Fischetti, members of Vance’s team said they were considering bringing charges against the Trump Organization and its individual employees related to alleged failures to pay taxes on corporate benefits and perks. It has been widely reported that those perks including cars and apartments and appear to only involve a small number of executives.
“We asked, ‘Is there anything else?’” Fischetti told POLITICO. “They said, ‘No.’”

The thing to keep in mind here is that Vance is retiring in a few months. The Grad Jury that was supposedly (according to the MSM) sat to hear charges against Trump was actually sat to hear out all of Vances end of career indictments. Certainly you don't sit a Grand Jury specifically to hear possible indictments on fringe tax issues.

To be clear, this sort of specific tax fraud situation is never actually handled with criminal charges. Generally the IRS would determine if back taxes would be owed for this sort of thing (which is not uncommon in business) and what that tax, penalties, and interest would be. There would be no criminal charges brought. This is not unlike the "failure to register as a foreign agent deal" where the Mueller team charged Manafort and his team, while letting the partner firms register and pay the fees retroactively for the years that they had not registered.

Obviously Vance is attempting to put the heat on members of the Trump Organization to give up the goods on him. But the interesting thing about it is that they successfully sued to get Trump's personal tax and business records, have had them for months, and apparently are still short of what they need to press any sort of criminal charge.

Tick tock, tick tock... looks like the State of New York might be running out of time here?

You do realize that they have not actually even decided whether or not to charge ANYONE with ANYTHING yet. At this point it's a threat and most everyone understands that what they are wanting to charge him with is not much of a crime. Other companies do the exact same thing everyday and it's not considered a crime.

At the end of the day, there is no way that Weisselberg would actually do any time for this sort of crime, even if the DA could convict him (which experts say is not a slam dunk).

More to the point, the crap that they wanted to get Trump for have nothing to do with Weisselberg and it's unlikely that Weisselberg can credibly claim that his own actions were simply following the orders of Trump (who wasn't even in charge of the company for four plus years).

Like everything Trump. Investigators find nothing and then try to squeeze people around him with Bullshit crimes. With the exception of Manafort (who was charged with crimes that took place years/decades before he was even asociated with Trump) and Cohen (who was charged with being a moron) - most everyone else was charged with process crimes and limited consequences.

They have been chasing this down for two years. If after two years the facts that they have gathered do not point to an indictement and they still need to "turn" someone to find out where the dead bodies are buried, then they do not have much of a case.

Based on how far they are stretching to get Weisselberg - it's amazing that they have not even that much on Trump. He must have some of the cleanest books in the world.

It was great news for TLS infected people.

Capone could be brought down, so can Trump.

The story of Elliot Ness, the Untouchables, Chicago gangsterism, and Al Capone's eventual downfall is well known. President Hoover was asked to put an end to Chicago lawlessness, and the President ordered an operation to uncover and destroy the Capone network.

And destroyed he was, ultimately getting convicted and sent to maximum security for a lengthy sentence. It didn't matter which investigation finally got him, or which Federal department, it was only a matter of time before Capone's own arrogant recklessness caught up with him. Tax evasion may be an unromantic tactic, but it proved effective.

Capone was meek as a lamb in prison, having neither the physical nor emotional steel to maintain his reputation, once stripped of his organization. Syphilis killed him.

If such a blatantly murderous, powerful, well armed, well financed man as Al Capone can be brought down, regardless of how many Chicago judges and politicians he controlled, then convicting a wanabee crook like Donald Trump should be straightforward.

I think Justice officials are forgetting this history lesson. They're not showing the kind of resolve and idealism it takes, and they forget that Donald Trump is just a cheap crook, and a not very good one at that. There are a dozen ways they can trip him up, and it's time to get on with it.

This is an an attempt to objectively explore why Justice officials are moving so slowly. Are political reputation and Party electoral dynamics a sufficient reason to explain this?

Am I misreading the case against Diaper Donnie? Is he actually so connected, politically or otherwise, that he really does possess immunity? Is this immunity an illusion bourne of social media nonsense, or does it have substance? I'm eager to learn, change my view if you have the knowledge I lack!

If he is convicted of tax evasion he will probably die alone in his isolation cell.

Another Conspiracy Theory addiction system.

What is Conspiracy Theory Addiction?

A conspiracy theory can be defined as the belief that a secret, but influential organization or individual is responsible for a circumstance or event. People often think that these beliefs are rare or sometimes absurd, but research shows they may be more common than we thought. A study found that about 50% of Americans believe in at least one conspiracy theory. Conspiracy theories come in all forms, but most theories involve political and social events. Some examples include the belief that certain celebrities are immortal vampires, and controversial topics such as the belief that a small group of people are planning to overthrow the government. Often, one theory will have accompanying and sometimes contradictory conspiracy theories which can be dangerous if not challenged. On the other hand, it can be noted that some conspiracy theories have been proven to be true. With the increased popularity of conspiracies and exposure to information, it is possible to harm your mental health and relationships by developing a conspiracy theory addiction.

Conspiracy theory addiction is a behavioral addiction that can have a hidden impact on the way you perceive events and has been linked to having more negative attitudes. Rather than helping one cope with their negative feelings, the belief in conspiracy theories can create a cycle of distrust and disempowerment. As a person encounters different sources, it is important to be able to analyze the information and distinguish between false theories and real threats.

The cost of leasing an apartment and a car would arguably run upwards of 50-60K a year if you were living in luxury and driving a luxury car. You are talking about a handfull of executives. Let's way ten. That means the Trump Organization (or these executives) failed to pay taxes on $500,000 to $600,00 worth of perks/benefits (they should be included in your gross income). Heck, to be safe, we could double it. Say there was a million dollars a year in perks and benefits where taxes were not paid.

The maximum income tax in New York is 8.875%

That would be $88,750 dollars in unpaid taxes.

So Roger...

Arizona ‘Audit’ Shows Signs of Backfiring on GOP

“But the survey of 600 likely voters found that the intensity of opposition to the audit exceeded the intensity of support,
with those strongly opposed to it outnumbering those strongly in favor by 5 percentage points.

General Milley is not naive, he is not uniformed about critical race theory (CRT), he is not a ‘good officer’.

General Milley is the enemy.

General Milley is in a position of immense power and doing immense damage to our republic.

General Milley needs to face the full force of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and all the penalties it provides for his subversion and duplicity, as do the officers around him who are assisting in this sedition.

Senior leaders of our armed forces who are engaging in this obvious Maoist revolution need to be aware the wrath of the American people is coming, and will be felt in courts martial.

The moral of the story is that if you dig deep enough and look around every corner, you can probably find some talking point to support any view.

Like the idea that an audit is a bad thing.

Just in general why would that be?

It's not a criminal audit and it doesn't really put anyone out. There are no rights being violated? Only people who are required to do anything are the people who want to conduct the audit. The votes are a matter of public record and not the sole property of local partisan election boards to lock away and throw away the key.

Even if you do not believe that anything went wrong, why would you be opposed to any audits? We certainly audit things when Republicans win? Heck we spent tens of millions of dollars trying to investigate allegations of Russian/Trump conspiracy theories in 2017, 2018, etc...

The Big Lie will cost the taxpayers $6.1 million dollars in Arizona.

In Arizona, the secretary of state can decertify machinery in consultation with the state's election equipment certification committee, a three-person panel appointed by Hobbs.

On Monday, county attorney Allister Adel wrote to Hobbs on behalf of the Maricopa Board of Supervisors, agreeing with her assessment.

“The board shares your concerns,” he said in a letter. “Accordingly, I write to notify you that Maricopa County will not use the subpoenaed election equipment in any future election.”

The county has said it used backup equipment in municipal elections this year, but would obtain new machines for the November election.

Replacing the machines would likely cost millions. The county’s most recent expense for election equipment was a $6.1 million contract with Dominion Voting Systems in 2019, the county told NBC News, though not all of that equipment was subpoenaed and will need to be replaced.

The new machines will also be made by Dominion, according to Fields Moseley, the county's communications director.

Trump allies advanced a series of conspiracy theories about the Dominion Voting Systems during the election, including that the company had ties to deceased Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chávez and that it had switched votes. There is no evidence of these claims, and numerous audits in Maricopa County verified the accuracy and security of the 2020 election there.

The Republican-backed review of the county's ballots finished on Friday, and “quality control” work is expected to wrap up this week.

The new machines will also be made by Dominion. The company you said was hacked by a dead Venezuelan president.

Like what, Roger?

Weisselberg, not Trump, runs the Trump organization. He's the guy making the decisions and pulling the strings. Trump (by way of him being President) wasn't even involved since he started running for President in 2016.

At this point Weisselberg has no realy reason to be concerned because the tax charges they are attempting to indict him with are a joke. Even if convicted a Judge is not throwing him in jail over petty tax issues that would 999/1000 times be handed by paying the tax, penalty, and interest.

The Senate could stop these efforts, by passing a bill that would ban such election manipulation on the state level. But McConnell has made sure to keep the GOP caucus unified behind efforts to filibuster any such bill.

Morever, McConnell shamelessly lies about this, smugly declaring, "I've taken a look at all the new state laws — none of them are designed to suppress the vote." We know this is a lie, because there is literally no other reason for these laws, as repeated GOP claims about "voter fraud" have turned up absolutely no evidence that it's a real problem. Plus, the flood of such laws as a direct response to Trump's failed coup makes it quite clear the purpose of them is to make sure Trump — or anyone following Trump's playbook — succeeds next time.

McConnell clearly doesn't like Trump personally. (As far as I can tell, no one — not even Trump's wife — actually enjoys Trump's company.) And he doesn't seem to have been the biggest fan of having to cower in terror from a rampaging mob, clearly preferring authoritarian power grabs to be more refined.

But make no mistake — McConnell is still Trump's strongest ally in Washington D.C.

As long as Trump is intent on undermining democracy, McConnell will be on hand to help.

A grave legal threat.

There was fresh evidence of Trump's incandescent state of mind as his lawyers met with prosecutors from the Manhattan district attorney's office in an effort to persuade them not to pursue charges for alleged financial crimes by the company.

Trump claimed the team was "rude, nasty, and totally biased" against him, claimed they were trying to destroy him and the "Make America Great Again" movement and were radical leftists who were a disgrace to the nation.

The former President no longer has his social media accounts and cannot propagate his fury without the help of retweets and conservative media appearances. But his statement was a taste of the vitriol sure to flow from his camp if charges are brought against his organization.

A flurry of exposés from Trump's desperate last days in office is emerging, meanwhile, from a series of forthcoming books. According to Karl, the then-President had "the eyes and mannerism of a madman," in the words of one attendee at a meeting between Trump and Barr after the attorney general said there was no evidence of widespread election fraud.

In another account, by Wall Street Journal reporter Michael Bender, Trump is depicted as getting into a shouting match with Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, after saying he wanted to send the US military into cities that he claimed were in flames amid violence.

Critics often accuse the Washington media of addiction to insider accounts of the crazed behavior inside Trump's West Wing. Yet while these books, and the contributions of officials like Barr, who spoke to Karl on the record, do come across as an attempt at reputation repair, they also perform a valuable service.

The accounts are building a record of malfeasance on the behalf of the former President. They show just how close American democracy came to the brink, thanks to a former commander in chief who tried to use tactics familiar to the autocrats, like China's Xi Jinping and Russia's Vladimir Putin, who he so admired.

Trump's certain attempts to make his enemies pay a price for a tightening vice of accountability mean that the process of healing from the trauma of his aberrant presidency is only just beginning, and is likely to further disrupt the country's fragile political equilibrium.

Report of no fraud lands amid call for reexamination of election

Whether the report will change the minds of Republicans who believe that Biden did not legitimately win the election remains to be seen. Its release comes at a time when the Michigan GOP and state Republican lawmakers face growing pressure from pro-Trump activists who have spoken out fervently against those who dismiss allegations of election fraud and have called on lawmakers to take additional steps to investigate the results.

Michigan Republican Party precinct delegates recently delivered a resolution calling on the party's leadership to fire Michigan GOP Executive Director Jason Cabel Roe because he told POLITICO last year that "the election wasn’t stolen" and that "there is no one to blame but Trump" for the party's defeat in the presidential election.

On June 17, a pro-Trump group gathered for a rally on the steps of the Capitol in Lansing before delivering thousands of affidavits calling on Republican officials to push for an audit of the Nov. 3 election.

The report's release also coincides with new calls to continue to reexamine the election just this week.

On Tuesday, the Cheboygan County Board of Commissioners moved forward with a request to the Bureau of Elections to conduct an audit of the Nov. 3 election that would look into whether tabulators were connected to an "unauthorized computer" that "manipulated" vote totals, according to a draft letter on the county's website. That same day, Rep. Steve Carra, R-Three Rivers, introduced a bill to conduct another statewide audit.

Bizon said that efforts to reexamine the election should be ongoing. He said he supported the report "knowing that we’ll be continuing to watch and continuing to audit the situation."

More than 250 audits of the election already completed have affirmed the results,
including in Antrim County where a human error led to inaccurate reporting of unofficial election night results that fueled the conspiracy theory that tabulators manufactured by Dominion Voting Systems switched votes from Trump to Biden. Trump carried the county, winning 61 percent of the vote.

A letter from McBroom at the beginning of the report states that "all compelling theories that sprang forth from the rumors surrounding Antrim County are diminished so significantly as for it to be a complete waste of time to consider them further."

And the report calls on the attorney general's office to consider launching an investigation into those "utilizing misleading and false information about Antrim County to raise money or publicity for their own ends." The attorney general's office will review the report and determine whether a criminal investigation is appropriate, the office's spokesperson, Lynsey Mukomel told the Free Press.

McBroom said that calls for more audits in Michigan are "not justifiable" because they are largely based on the unfounded claims of vote-switching in Antrim County. But McBroom said he is "keeping a close eye" on the election audit in Arizona's Maricopa County, which was described by the Republican chair of the County Board of Supervisors as "a grift disguised as an audit."

Republicans in the Arizona Senate hired the Florida-based firm Cyber Ninjas to carry out the election review. Cyber Ninjas provided analysis to support the fraud allegations leveled in an Antrim County lawsuit that served as a vehicle for election conspiracies, and the firm's CEO has promoted election fraud claims.

If the Maricopa audit surfaces "genuine issues" with the election, McBroom said he "will not hesitate" to ask his committee to consider recommending an audit in Michigan or revising the report.

On Thursday, we might see the Supreme Court hearing will save the country from Trump and the big lie.

The Supreme Court is poised to issue a major ruling that could impact the practice of “ballot harvesting” across the United States.

The court’s justices are set to hand down their last opinions of their current session on Thursday, perhaps including on a voting rights case that calls into question Arizona’s law that bans ballot harvesting—or the practice of collecting ballots for delivery. Also under consideration is the state’s law that mandates the dismissal of ballots that were cast in the wrong voting district.

After the Democratic National Committee filed a lawsuit against the laws, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the Democrats and overturned them. Later, Arizona state Attorney General Mark Brnovich, a Republican, appealed that decision to the Supreme Court.

The GOP-controlled Arizona Legislature passed a ballot harvesting bill in 2016 that made the practice—typically carried out by Democratic-aligned groups—of going door-to-door asking people to take their ballots to a local polling place unlawful. The law makes exceptions for family members, caregivers, and people living in the same household. Republicans have said this would eliminate fraud and other irregularities.

In a divided ruling, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals’s majority argued that the law was a bid to suppress minority voters.

It's already illegal to cast fake ballots.

This was a classic example of voter suppression since the Republicans became the cultist party.

Trump supporters are attempting homicide against a Republican who would not believe the big lie!

began a few days after last November’s general election. At the time, Barton was in her eighth year as the clerk of Rochester Hills, a city of seventy-five thousand people in southeastern Michigan, where her many responsibilities included administering elections. On the evening of November 3rd, after the city’s election results were transmitted to a central tabulator, it looked like the absentee ballots for some precincts had not been included, so Barton and her crew resubmitted them. The next morning, when they realized that these ballots had, in fact, been transmitted the first time, the mistake was fixed. Barton assumed that was the end of it.

Within days, Ronna McDaniel, the chair of the Republican National Committee, held a press conference in nearby Bloomfield Hills. Although Barton was appointed by a nonpartisan city council, she is a Republican and considered McDaniel an ally. “I was never called by them to say, ‘Hey, Tina, what happened there?’ ” Barton said. “There was never, like, let’s check the facts.” Instead, at the press conference, McDaniel falsely claimed that two thousand votes for Trump had gone to Biden. “It was a complete mischaracterization,” Barton told me. “They needed language to support the agenda that they were pushing, and they used me, specifically, for the shock factor, because I was a Republican. I think they were trying to make the case that, if it could happen in Rochester Hills, it could happen anywhere.”

Barton posted an explanatory video on Twitter, which quickly amassed more than a million views. A torrent of death threats followed, left on her office voice mail and sent via Facebook Messenger. “To have someone say you deserve a knife to your throat, that you should be executed, that they are going to fuck up your family, shakes you,”she said. “And I’m fortunate. My husband is a sheriff’s deputy. That added a layer of security a lot of election officials don’t have.” Barton is now a senior adviser to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (E.A.C.), where she works with election administrators all over the country. “These are true public servants,” she said. “They are in it because they have a passion for democracy. And now they are asking themselves if they are willing to put themselves and their families at risk to do this job.”

Brave people risk their lives counting votes.

PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN ON THE INFRASTRUCTURE BILL

Critically, we are going to get all of this done without raising taxes one single cent on Americans who earn less than $400,000 a year. That means no gas tax increase — working families have already paid enough. Instead, we’ll pay for these investments in part by giving the IRS the resources it needs to collect taxes that the wealthiest Americans owe but are currently not paying. It cracks down on tax cheats, not on hardworking middle-class Americans.

This deal is the largest long-term investment in our infrastructure in nearly a century. Economists of all stripes agree that it would create good jobs and dramatically strengthen our economy in the long run.

But the deal also represents much more. It is a signal to ourselves, and to the world, that American democracy can work and deliver for the people.

Neither Democrats nor Republicans got everything they wanted in this agreement. But that’s what it means to compromise and reach consensus — the very heart of democracy. When we negotiate in good faith, and come together to get big things done, we begin to break the ice that too often has kept us frozen in place and prevented us from solving the real problems Americans face.

I will continue working with Congress to pass the remainder of my economic and clean energy agenda. We have an urgent need to invest in housing, clean energy deployment and the care economy. And we need to make equally critical investments in our human infrastructure: in childcare and paid leave, universal pre-K and free community college, and tax cuts for working families with children. They are inextricably intertwined with physical infrastructure.

There is plenty of work ahead to finish the job. There will be disagreements to resolve and more compromise to be forged. But this is a deal the American people can be proud of.

The big lie may cause a second civil war.

CNN reporter Donie O'Sullivan spoke with several supporters of former President Trump ahead of his first post-presidential rally on Saturday, many of whom told him they fully expect the real estate mogul to be reinstated before the end of the summer and warned of potential political violence in America if he is not.

"He didn't lose, I know he didn't lose," one woman told O'Sullivan, indicating she believes unfounded claims made by Trump and other Republicans that widespread voter fraud led to an unfair election that swung in President Biden 's favor.

Many of the supporters who gathered for the Saturday rally in Wellington, Ohio, wore memorabilia and carried signs with slogans like "Trump won" and "Biden sucks" displayed across them.

"It's about all of them, and 2020 and the next one," another woman told O'Sullivan about her "Trump won" T-shirt.

O'Sullivan pressed the woman on the election's result, saying, "But he lost though in 2020, right?"

"No!" she responded.

A third group of Trump supporters indicated before the rally that the one message they hoped to hear from the former president is that "he's coming back."

Trump has reportedly been pressuring allies in conservative media and other confidants to push his claim that the election was stolen and suggest he will be reinstated as soon as August. There is no mechanism by which such a reinstatement could happen.

"He's coming back soon, and you guys are going down," a Trump supporter in Wellington identified as Ron told O'Sullivan, sparking laughter from others in his group. "The military already knows it was a fraud. He won by over 80 percent."

Ron continued: "He's coming back before the middle of August."

"And what if that doesn't happen?" O'Sullivan asked.

"We're going to be in a civil war because the militia will be taking over," the man responded.

A self-described member of the right-wing Three Percenters militia group who attended the rally told O'Sullivan he was at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, when a mob of Trump supporters breached the complex and briefly halted a joint session of Congress from certifying Biden's Electoral College victory.

At least six members of the Three Percenters have been charged with conspiring to attack the U.S. Capitol that day.

"Yeah, I don't think anybody should have went inside, but when you're worked up in the moment and the adrenaline is pumping, you know, it just happens," the man in a Kevlar vest said.

One woman told O'Sullivan she believed the Jan. 6 insurrection was completely "staged."

O'Sullivan asked the self-avowed militia member if he believed more violence was imminent relative to Trump and the 2020 election.

"Yeah," he responded. "I honestly believe it's coming."

James, this is another thing Scott will ignore because he wants a coup..

Mark Milley

Let’s start off our modern list with the man of the hour himself. While Washington became the greatest man of his generation by foregoing political power, Milley embodies the modern military man with his craven pursuit of it.

By now, most Revolver readers have seen Milley’s embarrassing paean to books about “white rage.” Milley boasts that he reads books advocating radical leftism, as well as books the radical left writes about its enemies, and thus he is a splendidly well-rounded warrior and philosopher. MSNBC talking heads line up to worship him.

Of course, to anybody who isn’t hopelessly brainwashed, it’s obvious what is really going on. Milley is a political leader, not a military one, and he sees that buying into the left’s most sickening racial blood libels is a way to bolster his position and keep the military machine juiced to the maximum.

Over the past several years, Milley has repeatedly disgraced himself with grossly political behavior.

On January 6, Milley took park in a de facto coup against President Trump’s authority, bypassing the president’s commander-in-chief role to instead speak with Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Vice President Pence about how to deploy the National Guard around the Capitol. It was a move so obvious even Bill Kristol could see what was happening.

Milley was also the first signatory on an “unprecedented” letter by leading U.S. generals denouncing the events of January 6, which described the tumult as “a direct assault on the U.S. Congress, the Capitol building, and our Constitutional process.”

Milley was eager to deploy tens of thousands of troops to “protect” the Capitol after a bogus “insurrection” where the only shot fired was by a Capitol police officer into the neck of Ashli Babbitt. He thinks it’s critical to read books about “white rage” as part of his strategic training. But in keeping with the modern military’s threat perception capabilities, while Milley favors maximum force to stop the phantom threat of a MAGA insurrection, during the far bloodier and more destructive riots during the Summer of Floyd, Milley’s chief concern was making sure the riots were left unchecked by military force:

During one Oval Office debate, senior Trump adviser Stephen Miller chimed in, equating the scenes unfolding on his television to those in a third-world country and claiming major American cities had been turned into war zones.

“These cities are burning,” Miller warned, according to the excerpts. The comment infuriated Milley, who viewed Miller as not only wrong but out of his lane, Bender writes, noting the Army general who had commanded troops in Iraq and Afghanistan spun around in his seat and pointed a finger directly at Miller.

“Shut the f–k up, Stephen,” Milley snapped, according to the excerpts. [CNN]

WASHINGTON, June 29 - The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday left in place the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's ban on residential evictions imposed last year to combat the spread of COVID-19 and prevent homelessness during the pandemic, dealing a setback to landlords who had challenged the policy.

The justices declined a request made by a group of landlords to allow a federal judge's decision to block the eviction moratorium to go into effect nationwide while litigation in the dispute continues. The moratorium is due to expire on July 31.

The decision was 5-4, with Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh joining the court’s three liberal justices to deny the landlords’ request.

It's a LIE to claim that there have been all sorts of "audits". Again, only Maricopa County in Arizona has actually been subjected to an actual audit of their ballots.... something that has taken a while and we will still not know for several weeks (and maybe months).

In fact, it's a demonstrative lie.

But one you tell youself, so you can feel like there is some actual factual reason to claim "most secure election ever".

Science .... following .... we shall see. Do the fully vaccinated sheep follow blindly again?
"The spread of the highly transmissible Delta variant of the Chinese coronavirus is reportedly “forcing” Biden administration officials to “rethink Covid-19 [Chinese coronavirus] measures,” which could include re-instituting mask mandates — even among vaccinated people — according to reports.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)  has identified the Delta variant as one of “concern.” The variant comprises roughly 20 percent of infections in the United States and has prompted the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) to urge fully vaccinated individuals to, again, wear masks.

“People cannot feel safe just because they had the two doses,” W.H.O. official Dr. Mariangela Simao said last week. “They still need to protect themselves.”

“Vaccine alone won’t stop community transmission,” she continued. “People need to continue to use masks consistently, be in ventilated spaces, hand hygiene … the physical distance, avoid crowding"

The Republicans think the military forces are deep state conspiracies.

Conservative politicians have weaponized critical race theory to thwart discussion about America’s pernicious racial history. The U.S. military — an institution with a mixed record on racial equality — should close down this phony war by simply telling its own story with a full and open examination of the record.
I am not normally hawkish about calling for military action, but I’ll pound on the table to advocate for this battle. Why is the military so well suited to take this on? Let’s start with the Capitol Hill testimony last week by Gen. Mark A. Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the conservative response that followed it.

Milley defended the study of critical race theory while appearing alongside Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, the first Black American to hold that post. Republican lawmakers had argued that including CRT on the syllabus at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point would weaken the military by giving in to a progressive agenda. Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.), a former Green Beret, said a guest lecturer speaking to officer candidates at West Point dared to include the phrase “White rage.”

Oh, the irony of a GOP congressman decrying White rage when White rage on full display drove lawmakers out of the Capitol on Jan. 6. Milley wasn’t having it. “I want to understand White rage. And I’m White,” Milley said. “What is it that caused thousands of people to assault this building and try to overturn the Constitution of the United States of America. What caused that? … I want to find out.”

Milley has since been eviscerated for those common-sense remarks. Former president Donald Trump called him “pathetic.” Fox News host Tucker Carlson said, “He’s not just a pig. He’s stupid.“

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

At some point, this disrespect drifted into delusion. Pennsylvania Senate candidate Sean Parnell, an Army veteran and Fox News regular, mocked Milley’s comments last Friday saying, “We have been a colorblind culture in the U.S. military for almost 200 years.”

That’s just wrong. Pretending that the military has had a sterling history on race erases both the current challenges and the slow evolution past racist restrictions. It’s too easy to see the fully integrated armed forces of today and forget that there have been outright bans, separation of the races and a wide range of restrictions on service going back to the American Revolution.

So yes, tell the story of how and why the Militia Act of 1792 excluded black men from service. Explain how and why Black World War II vets did not have equal access to GI Bill benefits or how the Marine Corps did not have fully integrated units until 1960, a dozen years after segregation officially ended in the armed forces. In each of these cases the how will likely be easier to explain than the why. Please do it anyway.

But please also tell the story of the Buffalo soldiers, the Philippine Scouts, the Navajo Code Talkers. Describe how Black, Latino, Native American and Filipino men served as the literal backbone of the military during both world wars, building roads, hauling cargo, peeling potatoes and shoveling coal. Tell the stories of the Harlem Hellfighters and patriots such as Robert Smalls, Marcelino Serna, Dorie Miller and Susan Ahn Cuddy. Every American should learn how their valor rose above the strictures meant to restrict their service.

Racism is a scourge that limits the potential of individuals and groups within a specific cohort. But in the end, everyone pays a price — even those who enjoy the false comfort of status built upon the lie of inherent supremacy. The military learned that lesson in the heat of battle, and it’s clearly spelled out in a World War II era document.

In February 1945, the same month that the battle of Iwo Jima began, the U.S. Navy published a pamphlet called the “Guide to Command of Negro Naval Personnel.” After years of limiting roles for men of color, the Navy by necessity was shifting course. “In modern total warfare any avoidable waste of manpower can only be viewed as material aid to the enemy, “the document said. “Restriction, because of racial theories, of the contribution of any individual to the war effort is a serious waste of human resources.”

I hope you noticed the word “theories” in that last sentence. It stands as a reminder that many of the laws, customs, covenants and hierarchies that opponents of critical race theory so desperately want to avoid discussing were tenets based on dubious conjectures about race.
Those theories were used to justify the foundation, frame and ceiling for the house we all still dwell in. We may have opened wide some of the windows and rearranged the structure, but the basic blueprint has not fully been researched or replaced.

I hope Austin, who has demonstrated courage by openly discussing racial issues in his ranks, will direct the military to fully tell the critical race facts within its history — to the public, to recruits and future generals, to a young generation that needs to understand that to win clean, you have to play fair on the battlefield and in the regulations — because to do anything less provides material aid to the enemies of truth, honor and decency.

Obama: Trump broke ‘core tenet’ of democracy with ‘bunch of hooey’ over election

Ex-president calls for action to stop ‘delegitimizing of democracy’ during redistricting fundraiser

Guardian staff and agencies

Mon 28 Jun 2021 18.06 EDT

Barack Obama said on Monday that his successor in office, Donald Trump, violated a “core tenet” of democracy when he made up a “bunch of hooey” about last year’s election and refused to concede he lost.

Speaking at his first virtual fundraiser since the 2020 election, the former Democratic president said former Republican president’s claims undermined the legitimacy of US elections and helped lead to other anti-democratic measures such as efforts to suppress the vote.

“What we saw was my successor, the former president, violate that core tenet that you count the votes and then declare a winner – and fabricate and make up a whole bunch of hooey,” Obama said.

Trump has continued to falsely claim that his defeat was the result of widespread fraud, which has been rejected by multiple courts, state election officials and members of his own administration.

Calls to cancel Canada Day aftergraves found: ‘Indigenous people paid with their lives’

In a rare bipartisan chime, Obama’s assertion followed an article in the Atlantic on Sunday noting that Trump’s former attorney general, William Barr – expressing himself less politely – said his Republican former boss’s claims were always “bullshit”.

The Republican senator Mitt Romney on Sunday likened Trump’s claims of a stolen election to television wrestling – entertaining but “not real”.

Meanwhile, Obama added: “What’s been called ‘the big lie’ suddenly gains momentum,” which in turn has fueled moves by Republican-controlled legislatures to reduce access to voting and gain more control over voting operations.

“Here’s the bottom line. If we don’t stop these kinds of efforts now, what we are going to see is more and more contested elections … We are going to see a further de-legitimizing of our democracy,” he said, as well as “a breakdown of the basic agreement that has held this magnificent democratic experiment together all these years”.

Zampolits of Wokeness

Veterans-turned-lawmakers, with active duty whistleblowers, are the nation’s last defense against the Pentagon’s racialist commissars.

By J. Michael Waller

June 29, 2021

Wokeness might do to the American military what no foreign enemy ever could: Fracture the world’s greatest armed forces from within, through divisive political indoctrination and controls.

Wokeness—extreme ideological intolerance of opposing views and the imposition of life-destroying punishments for the insufficiently woke—is organized fratricide.

The fratricide has a higher purpose: A political purge of a targeted institution or culture through mass action, the destructive power of which will create a new utopian status quo.

The Soviets tried this. Their armed forces had a dual command structure, one military and one political, throughout the ranks. The purpose, amid purge after woke purge, was to purify the military along ideological lines.

Wokeness itself isn’t an ideology, however. It isn’t critical race theory. It’s a behavioral system of dictatorial political and cultural control.

Error mars vote count in NYC mayoral primary

NEW YORK (AP) — The Democratic primary for mayor of New York City was thrown into a state of confusion Tuesday when election officials retracted their latest report on the vote count after realizing it had been corrupted by test data never cleared from a computer system.

The bungle was a black mark on New York City’s first major foray into ranked choice voting and seemed to confirm worries that the city’s Board of Elections, which is jointly run by Democrats and Republicans, was unprepared to implement the new system.

The disarray began as evening fell, when the board abruptly withdrew data it had released earlier in the day purporting to be a first round of results from the ranked choice system.

That data had indicated that Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, a former police captain who would be the city’s second Black mayor, had lost much of his lead and was ahead of former sanitation commissioner Kathryn Garcia by fewer than 16,000 votes

But when the Manhattan DA’s office partnered with the New York Attorney General and empaneled a grand jury for the specific purpose of bringing indictments, it was empaneled for up to six months – an unusually long amount of time. That was just about a month ago. Does anyone really believe that the DA went to all the trouble to empanel a special grand jury for an extra long amount of time, just to turn around and quickly issue two indictments and then call it a day? Of course not.

But while it’s rather obvious that this week’s indictments will merely be the first round of indictments, it’s worth examining what these indictments alone are likely to do. Weisselberg’s arrest will get eyeballs for sure. But the Trump Organization indictment will force the general public to realize that Donald Trump is indeed a career criminal whose entire financial empire has always been a fraud. It won’t just be anti-Trump people calling Trump a criminal anymore; it’ll be a lengthy criminal indictment documenting all of it.

Or maybe it won’t be all of it. Given that this is obviously just round one of indictments, this week could have a more narrow focus, with more to come later. Either way, it’ll still begin the process of exposing Donald Trump as the crook he’s always been.

Indicting the Trump Organization should also rather quickly cause it to fall apart financially, given what a house of cards it is to begin with. Donald Trump’s creditors could begin calling in his remaining loans, seizing his buildings, perhaps even taking the “Trump” name off the buildings, within a short amount of time. Trump could quickly be left with no money, no assets, no ability to pay his fancy lawyers to drag things out in court, and no ability to keep people like potential plea deal targets like Weisselberg on the payroll.

And that’s just what could happen to Donald Trump when the dust settles from this week’s indictments. That’s before getting to what will happen once prosecutors keep putting the squeeze on Weisselberg to flip, and word surfaces of who will be targeted in the next round of indictments.

Radical Left New York City and State Prosecutors, who have let murderers, rapists, drug dealers, and all other forms of crime skyrocket to record levels, and who have just announced that they will be releasing hundreds of people involved in violent crime back onto the streets without retribution of any kind, are rude, nasty, and totally biased in the way they are treating lawyers, representatives, and some of the wonderful long-term employees and people within the Trump Organization. After hundreds of subpoenas, over 3 million pages of documents, 4 years of searching, dozens and dozens of interviews, and millions of dollars of taxpayer funds wasted, they continue to be “in search of a crime” and will do anything to frighten people into making up the stories or lies that they want, but have been totally unable to get. In an unprecedented move, they retained an outside “Never Trumper” lawyer from a Trump-hating law firm to work on the case. It is a continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt of all time.

Now they are issuing ultimatums, working in close conjunction with the Washington, D.C. hacks who have been investigating me from the day I came down the escalator in Trump Tower, but who have failed. In fact, the guilty parties were these prosecutors’ partners in crime, the Radical Left Democrats and friends. They will do anything to stop the MAGA movement (and me), even if it involves prosecutorial misconduct and harassment of a political opponent, which they are using at levels rarely seen before. They leak, they lie, and they campaign based on information that has already been gone through in other of the many investigations I have put up with.

Now they just leaked that we were given one day, today, to make our case about things that are standard practice throughout the U.S. business community, and in no way a crime. They also know that no matter how strong our case, they will work hard to embarrass us and the Republican Party.

Having politically motivated prosecutors, people who actually got elected because they will “get Donald Trump,” is a very dangerous thing for our Country. In the end, people will not stand for it. Remember, if they can do this to me, they can do it to anyone! Why would anyone bring their company to New York, or even stay in New York, knowing these Radical Left Democrats would willingly target their company if viewed as a political opponent? It is devastating for New York!

These Witch Hunters are relentlessly seeking to destroy a reputation of a President who has done a great job for this Country, including tax and regulation cuts, Border control, rebuilding the Military, and developing the vaccine in record time—thereby saving our Country, and far beyond. Washington, D.C. and ultimately, the U.S. Supreme Court, should finally stop these vicious, angry, and highly partisan prosecutors. They are a disgrace to our Nation!
