The bigger issue is that the U.K. are stepping their security in Afghanistan and seem to be doing more than the US to try to get things under control. They feel responsible to clean up our mess.
To fully understand how badly Joe Biden is handling Afghanistan our greatest ally Great Britain literally held him in contempt over his disastrous withdrawal and lack of communication!!!

Parliament holds Joe Biden in contempt over Afghanistan https://t.co/LBeOU6tIov

I saw that earlier today and I knew you would suck up to...someone named Trump
It's the British Parliamentary that is chastising the American President for incompetence and putting tens of thousands of lives in danger (including British citizens). He promised our allies that they would remain safe to operate in Kabul even if we withdrew because he would leave security behind.
Do you not care about people's lives Roger?
Doe the lives of tens of thousand not matter because Don Jr brings it up in a tweet?
Perhaps you should as a nurse for assistance in explaining this sort of morality to you. Literally lives are at stake here. Our ally the UK understood this. They held Biden in contempt (not just because he fucked up politically) - but because he PUT BRITISH CITIZENS IN DANGER!!!!
Why do you refuse to care about this?
You would rather demand that none of this matters so that Joe doesn't lose any more political capital. But it matters, because he put lives in danger and quite literally gave our enemies billions and billions and billions in American military equipment that will likely be used on our allies.
Americans still support the pulling out of our troops,
and here's something else the Biden administration and the international community are getting right:
Afghanistan’s Banking System Near Collapse

MIT Technology Review:
“Afghanistan’s banking system is in a state of collapse, and people throughout the country are running out of money. And this cash crisis—partly due to the international community’s efforts to starve the Taliban of resources—is having an outsized effect on everyday Afghan citizens, leaving many without access to important services as the UN warns of a growing humanitarian disaster.”

With no dollars coming in, Afghanistan faces an economic cataclysm.

It Begins. Former British Commander in Afghanistan Calls for Joe Biden’s Court-Martial (VIDEO)
Colonel Kemp in an earlier interview on GBNews said, “From the moment President Biden ‘made that decision to withdraw without any regard for the security situation in Afghanistan… this situation was absolutely inevitable.”
During his interview with Mark Levin Col. Kemp said the fall of Afghanistan has devastating effects on NATO. “President Biden has completely destroyed his credibility single-handedly… Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State are strong in Afghanistan. They will operate freely. And they can operate more freely than before 9-11. Jihadists from around the world will train, flock to Afghanistan… There is no one more who is cheering this than Russia and China. They will now see they have pretty much an open field… In my opinion. I don’t say this often, and I don’t say this lightly. And I’ve never said this about anybody else. Any other leader in this position. People are talking about impeaching President Biden. I don’t think President Biden should be impeached. He’s the Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces who has just essentially surrendered to the Taliban. He shouldn’t be impeached. He should be court-martialed for betraying the United States of America and the United States Armed Forces.“

So the Afghanistan government and economic system is going to collapse after we abandoned it... and Goddard and gang believe that people will blame the Taliban?
Let me ask you a serious question, Reverend?
Do you really believe that Biden should get a political pass on this? Are you really one of the truly naive out there who believe he didn't do anything wrong?
And no, Reverend. I know you won't answer that question because you never do. You will just sidestep it and try to answer the question with a question like you always do. Which, of course, is just a different level and means of dishonesty. You cannot even be honest with yourself, much less have an honest assessment of anything.
The alky refuses to care about anything outside of the political because he has one mode and one mode only -
'Party over country.'
Every liberal in America operates from this default position.
To them, the greatest catastrophe here is the catastrophic impact to Biden's political fortunes.
The sheer volume of fuck-ups from the southern border to the economy to Covid should forever sink the guy politically, but the left has an agenda to pursue and the singular focus on that agenda is all that matters.
The topic going forward should be the 25th amendment. Any responsible and patriotic individual believes their eyes and engages that process post haste. But not the democrats. 'Party before country' prevents them from taking that very basic and necessary step.
And the nation suffers as a result.
During his interview with Mark Levin Col. Kemp said the fall of Afghanistan has devastating effects on NATO.
You don't say?
Huh.
I specifically remember the alky shrieking for WEEKS around here about how Trump was going to utterly and completely destroy NATO...
...simply by demanding that NATO countries pay their fair share in accordance with the NATO pact.
And now Biden is in fact doing exactly what Trump was accused of doing, and we hear not a peep from the left about this except perhaps to dismiss it in pursuit of a positive POLITICAL outcome for Sloppy Joe.

French President Emmanuel Macron lectured President Joe Biden on the “moral responsibility” their two nations owed to Afghanistan during a call with the president on Thursday.
A readout of the call released by the French included a pointed note of Macron’s message to Biden.
“The head of state emphasized our collective moral responsibility toward the Afghan men and women who need our protection and who share our values,” it read. “We cannot abandon them.”
The United States readout of the call did not include similar rhetoric, noting that both leaders “underscored the importance of continued close coordination among allies and democratic partners on Afghanistan,” and the importance of “humanitarian assistance and support for refugees.”

Tony Blair, the former prime minister who took Britain into Afghanistan alongside George W Bush in 2001, has blamed the West’s botched withdrawal from the country on an “imbecilic” election pledge by Joe Biden.
[...]
“The world is now uncertain of where the West stands because it is so obvious that the decision to withdraw from Afghanistan in this way was driven not by grand strategy but by politics,” Blair complained.
“We didn’t need to do it. We chose to do it. We did it in obedience to an imbecilic political slogan about ending ‘the forever wars’, as if our engagement in 2021 was remotely comparable to our commitment 20 or even ten years ago,” he seethed.

An elite Taliban unit released propaganda images this week, including one mocking the iconic World War Two photo of U.S. Marines raising the flag on Iwo Jima. In the propaganda image, the Taliban fighters are shown raising their flag while wearing what appears to be U.S. and U.S. ally-made military gear.
“The Taliban’s Badri 313 Battalion released a collection of propaganda footage this past week,” the Daily Mail reported Sunday. “Among the collection was the recreation of the famed 1945 World War II picture of soldiers raising the American flag during the Battle of Iwo Jima”

And the Taliban will be blamed
More likely the US will be blamed. They were guarantors of a stable economic system.
If the Taliban is blamed I doubt they would care. They reject democracy and individualism as contrary to sharia law. It is sharia they care about.
They must be exterminated to the last man to be safe against their terrorism.

Vox has an interesting story. I will post the link later on today.
It seems that the military engagement, at least in terms of troops, is going to end, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that droning is going to end. So the Afghan experience of death from above is going to continue. In fact, President Joe Biden made it very openly clear that he will continue to use America’s Air Force to “degrade the terrorists,” which is a code for drone warfare. The continuation of drones in Afghanistan means that while US troops might be gone, US presence might be gone, the threat of US military is still there.
We also don’t know what the US’s commitments are to ordinary Afghans. Will they now be willing to take more refugees? The answer is yes, so far, but there’s no real talk about really raising the cap of dealing with things like the visa process, which is a complete quagmire, a labyrinthine process that is impossible to navigate. An Afghan who’s been cut off from the internet, how are they supposed to navigate that process?
There are no answers, just questions that have been raised by what is going on. There’s also the real anxiety that Afghanistan may fall into an outright civil war within a matter of years. What happens there? Do we stand by and watch a humanitarian crisis unfold? I think the universal feeling among most Afghans — and I should be careful not to speak for every Afghan — but there is a sort of acceptance that US withdrawal is a good thing. But what is the US going to do after is a crucial question that needs to be answered. And it is not being answered yet.
Our direct involvement is going away within a couple months.
But history shows that we are not going away.
We have been involved during the Cold War era that ended when the Berlin Wall fell down.
If we use the modern version of warfare we can reduce the risk of terrorist attacks.

BUT OF COURSE:
Liberal Lawyer Freed Taliban Commando on Frontlines of Kabul Surge: Rebecca Dick won acclaim for defending terrorists at Guantanamo Bay.
"Afghan national Gholan Ruhani maintained his innocence after coalition forces captured him alongside a drug-trafficking militia commander and tossed him in the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Ruhani, represented by white shoe lawyer Rebecca Dick, said he was “a simple shopkeeper who helped Americans.”
Not quite. Days ago, Al Jazeera news captured Ruhani with fellow Taliban militants in the presidential palace in Kabul, as they announced the formation of an Islamic emirate. Ruhani, who cradled a machine gun, recited from the Quran and spoke of his time at Guantanamo.
Dick, then a top-flight attorney at Dechert LLP, represented Ruhani and advocated for his repatriation to Afghanistan. She said in a 2008 interview that her clients were not extremists.
“None expresses any interest in harming the U.S.,” she said. “Most affirmatively express support for the Karzai government; the others simply do not want to think about or discuss politics.”
Her statements were squarely at odds with Defense Departments assessments, which were vindicated by Ruhani’s role in the collapse of the Ghani government. Government reports connected Ruhani to the Taliban’s intelligence outfit, highlighted his familial ties to senior Taliban leaders, and correctly anticipated that he would join terrorist groups if released.
Now retired, Dick represented Ruhani and seven other Guantanamo detainees from Dechert’s Washington offices."
Lots of top-shelf firms represented accused terrorists because “everyone deserves a defense.” On the other hand, firms representing Donald Trump were terrorized into dropping him by social media mobs.

And today you know who's REALLY in charge?
Susan Rice.
A real Republican named Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) placed blame on the Trump administration for the unfolding crisis in Afghanistan, saying its 2020 agreement with the Taliban sowed the seeds for the US’ turbulent exit from the country, CNN reports
Said Kinzinger: “Let’s keep in mind, Mike Pompeo met with the Taliban. As Donald Trump was publicly saying, ‘We have to get out of Afghanistan at all costs. It’s not worth it,’ Mike Pompeo meets with the Taliban and tries to negotiate something.”
He added: “They set this up to fail. But always, of course, Joe Biden could have easily turned this around, and instead used it as the excuse to get out.”

If Trump were still president Bagram air base would still be opened, and the Taliban wouldn't have launch the offensive the did because they knew they would be slaughtered by air power.
However, once Biden took the air power away, it was open season for the Taliban.
You can try to lamely blame Trump all you want but people know this is Biden's and only Biden's debacle.

The hatred for Trump supporters far outweighs any concern for Islamic terror. Just consider the sheer joy many liberals expressed over the Census report of white decline. Michael Moore said it was the “best day ever in U.S. history.” Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin stated it was “fabulous news. now we need to prevent minority White rule.” The audience for Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” went wild when he announced that America’s white population went down for the first time in history. Even Fallon was taken aback by the response.
For months, Joe Biden, the intelligence community, the military, and the media have insisted that white Trump supporters are the greatest threat to this country. Their evidence was just as good as the information that led them to think the Afghan government would endure, but that doesn’t matter. Their enemy isn’t Islamic terrorists shouting death to America—it’s conservatives who refuse to obey their orders.
That’s why the new situation in Afghanistan won’t change their priorities. A terror threat from foreign Muslims doesn’t advance their political agenda. An internal threat that gives them greater power and control does. The American Taliban is a far more convenient enemy.

The left has exactly ONE trick in their playbook when a situation turns so spectacularly to shit it's impossible to avoid reacting to it.
So they whip out their psychological projection.

An American woman called a US representative and tearfully begged for help getting out of Taliban-run Afghanistan.
Rep. Carol Miller of West Virginia on Saturday posted a recording of the call to Twitter. In the recording, a woman's voice is heard, wavering and breaking up at times over her own tears.
"Hour by hour, it's getting more difficult," she said.
"Even when the cars pass by I feel like they're gonna stop by that door out there, the Taliban, and they're gonna come and they're gonna kill us," she continued, crying in between words.
"I'm really scared," she said, pleading for help before the audio trails off.
Miller said in her tweet that the woman was "attacked each time she tried to reach the airport." Her office did not immediately respond to a request for comment asking for more information about the attacks.
"Despite the danger to herself, she wants us to share this," Miller wrote on Twitter. "We must guarantee the safety of Americans and our allies before it is too late."

Biden had no choice except to express confidence in the Afghan government and its military. Anything else really would have been a profound betrayal. But the moment he started a panicked evacuation of American and Afghan personnel, the jig was up. That would be an unmistakable signal not just that we were serious about withdrawing, but that we no longer had any confidence in the ability of Ghani and the Afghan military to hold off the Taliban. The collapse of the country would have followed within a day or two, no matter when Biden started the evacuation.
Or if Trump had followed the agreement with the Taliban militants.

Fuck...
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin acknowledged that some Americans attempting to leave Afghanistan have been beaten by Taliban militants, Politico reported on Friday.
“We’re…aware that some people including Americans have been harassed and even beaten by the Taliban,” Austin told House lawmakers during a briefing, multiple sources told Politico. “This is unacceptable and [we] made it clear to the designated Taliban leader.”
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby also acknowledged that the U.S. was aware of reports of beatings.
“We’re certainly mindful of these reports and we’ve communicated to the Taliban that that’s absolutely unacceptable and we want free passage through these checkpoints for documented Americans,” Kirby told reporters. “By and large, that’s happening.”
The comments come less than two hours after President Biden claimed that the U.S. had not received reports of American citizens being unable to enter Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul. Secretary Austin was present at that press conference.
“We have no indication that they haven’t been able to get in Kabul through the airport,” Biden said at the press conference. “We know of no circumstance where American citizens who are carrying an American passport are trying to get through to the airport” unsuccessfully.
Later in the same press conference, Biden qualified his initial remarks.
“I thought the question was, how can they get through to the airport outside the airport,” Biden said. “And the answer is, to the best of our knowledge, the Taliban checkpoints — they are letting through people showing American passports.”
Biden said that the U.S. has made agreements with the Taliban, by which Americans would be allowed to pass through checkpoints manned by Taliban fighters.

The painful truth is now undeniable
If Trump had confused his Vice President with a ‘general’ or fumbled with his cue cards because he couldn’t match a scripted question to a scripted answer, as Biden did at his press conference on Thursday; or shown the bizarre callousness and failure of short-term memory in his ‘That was four days ago, five days ago!’ outburst; or spontaneously abandoned the policy of strategic ambiguity on Taiwan in an interview with ABC, as Biden did with George Stephanopoulos on Thursday, the psychiatrists would be lining up outside the cable stations to explain why the 25th Amendment needed to be deployed now.
It’s that simple. The buck really does stop with the President. The world has always seen Biden’s incapacity, and now the American people can see it too. He carries direct responsibility for a disaster so undeniable that even a partisan media can no longer deny it. He can neither speak truthfully nor accurately. You say I sidestepped when I did not. I have been saying that Biden made mistakes. But I have also been saying that so did Trump when he chose to negotiate solely with the Taliban, leaving out the the Afghani military. Also, Trump established an even more unworkable deadline for our withdrawing.
More important, I have consistently pointed out that Americans STILL want us OUT of Afghanistan.
President Biden WILL deliver remarks on the administration’s response to Tropical Storm Henri and an update on evacuations from Afghanistan
today at 4 p.m. ET from The White House.

Trump did NOT negotiate solely with the Taliban
But he did set conditions on the Taliban in conjunction with the Afghan army and leadership
His withdrawal target was based on those conditions and what was occurring on the ground.
His withdrawal would not have taken the final troops out before civilians
only an idiot does that
like Biden
And yes Americans did want our troops out as Trump had largely accomplished successfully

2) what Ch said at 9:58.
Parenthetical note: I didn't intend to capitalize WILL at 12:46. Of course he "will."
Will Biden FINALLY stand up like a man and take unfiltered questions from the press ?
It would take hours but he really needs to finally do this
"...as Trump had largely accomplished successfully..."
By negotiating exclusively with the Taliban?
History will not be kind.
Tropical Storm Henri
"Henri."
Geezus. Thank goodness we're woke.
20 years ago it would've been "Henry."

GOP Lawmaker Blames Trump for Afghanistan Crisis
August 22, 2021 at 11:15 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL)
placed blame on the Trump administration for the unfolding crisis in Afghanistan, saying its 2020 agreement with the Taliban sowed the seeds for the US’ turbulent exit from the country, CNN reports
Said Kinzinger:
“Let’s keep in mind, Mike Pompeo met with the Taliban. As Donald Trump was publicly saying, ‘We have to get out of Afghanistan at all costs. It’s not worth it,’ Mike Pompeo meets with the Taliban and tries to negotiate something.”
He added:
“They set this up to fail. But always, of course, Joe Biden could have easily turned this around, and instead used it as the excuse to get out.”

My conclusion:
Biden made a serious mistake.
Trump and Pompeio, even worse mistakes.

Well isn't that special?
The question is -
Will the quivering imbecile take a question from the press? A random question. Not a pre-screened, pre-vetted, asked and answered by Psucky, question?
President Trump says it is "time to bring our people back home" after the US signed a deal with the Taliban aimed at bringing peace to Afghanistan.
Mr Trump said 5,000 US troops would leave Afghanistan by May and he would meet Taliban leaders in the near future, without specifying where.
The US and Nato allies have agreed to withdraw all troops within 14 months if the militants uphold the historic deal.
Talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban are due to follow.
Under the agreement, the militants also agreed not to allow al-Qaeda or any other extremist group to operate in the areas they control.

who else has Trump left for him to negotiate with?

Should Trump have stayed in office to make sure this was properly executed ?

Add to the the fact that the rampant corruption and constant "shaking downs" of that government had given the broad Afghan public no reason to think they were really for them. I heard an interviedwed Afghani say, "We trusted neither the Taliban nor the government. Neither had done anything for us."

Actually Trump negotiated a phase withdrawal agreement where it was conditional on Taliban behavior. Not a perfect agreement but it guaranteed the safety of US troops, citizens and and Afghan employees from harm by the Taliban.

President Joe Biden on Sunday said the U.S. has a “long way to go and a lot could still go wrong” amid ongoing evacuation of Americans and Afghan allies from Kabul after the Taliban took over Afghanistan one week ago.
“The evacuation of thousands of people from Kabul is going to be hard and painful no matter when it started, when we began,” the president said during a press conference at the White House.
“It would have been true if we had started a month ago, or a month from now. There is no way to evacuate this many people without pain,” Biden said.
The Biden administration is facing criticism of its handling of the overall U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. The withdrawal, announced earlier this year, has been beset by chaos.
Thousands of people have crowded the Kabul airport and some even plunged to their deaths after clinging to the exterior of a U.S. military aircraft while attempting to leave the country. Seven Afghan civilians were killed in crowds attempting the enter Kabul’s airport, according to the British military.
The president said that up to 33,000 people have been evacuated since July, including 28,000 people since August 14.
U.S. defense officials said Sunday that the military is seeking alternative ways to get people to the airport safely amid specific threats from ISIS against the airport. The U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan on Saturday warned American citizens not to travel to the airport due to security threats outside the gates.
One of the most important comments was that anyone will be vested that they are not terrorists.

Did he say how many Americans he got out and how many are still left behind?
Efforts to reach the thousands of Americans not located near Kabul ?
Did he take responsibility for first taking the military out and then reinserting many more back in to try and salvage a failed retreat ?

Actual news.
President Biden said that the administration is taking the potential impact of Tropical Storm Henri "seriously," despite it no longer being a hurricane, during remarks from the White House on Sunday.
"Fortunately it's no longer a hurricane, it's been downgraded to a tropical storm. And we are taking it seriously, though, because the size and the storm's surge and the rainfall it's producing," the President said.
Biden said the federal government is prepared to assist those state's impacted by the storm and the heavy rainfall.
"And while New Englanders are used to dealing with some tough weather, this storm has the potential for widespread consequences across the region with significant flooding, power outages, that could affect hundreds of thousands of people. And so we're doing everything we can now to help those states prepare, respond and recover. I can't think of anyone better to lead this operation than Deanne Criswell of FEMA," he said.
Biden said that he spoke with governors of the states that could be affected and "urged them to take advantage of the assistance FEMA can offer in advance and committed to do everything we can to support their communities through the storm and afterwards.
He continued, "FEMA has already prepositioned resources in the region to speed our ability to respond, including food, water and life-saving communications equipment, as well as generators. In close cooperation with the electrical sector, preparations are in place to address significant power outages and resources and support that's staged at the edge of this storm to be able to move quickly in to help."
Biden said that he already approved emergency declarations for Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York.
Biden encouraged residents in the Northeast to "do their part to prepare."
"Follow the guidance from the local authorities. Some places have already had heavy rains and winds and dangerous storm surges. Henri is going to continue to move across much of the northeast. So it's important to monitor it closely and be prepared in your home and your community. Make sure you have the supplies for your entire household... And don't forget that you may need to seek shelter while battling the Delta variant and Covid-19. So wear a mask, and try to observe social distancing," he said.

Afghan staff at U.S. Embassy losing faith in evacuation efforts, diplomatic cable says
Exclusive: “It would be better to die under the Taliban’s bullet” one local staff member, quoted in the in cable, said.
WASHINGTON — Local staff members at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul are "deeply disheartened" by U.S. evacuation efforts and have expressed a sense of betrayal and distrust in the American government, according to a State Department diplomatic cable obtained by NBC News.
Sent Saturday, the cable said that memos had been sent to Afghan staff at the Embassy on Wednesday, inviting them to head to the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul. It told them to take food and prepare for difficult conditions.
"However, no one anticipated the brutal experience that occurred," the cable said.
Staffers reported being jostled, hit, spat on and cursed at by Taliban fighters at checkpoints near the airport, it said, adding that criminals were taking advantage of the chaos while the U.S. military tried to maintain order "in an extremely physical situation."
Growing threat to Americans in Afghanistan

Some staff members reported that they were almost separated from their children, while others collapsed in crush of people and had to be taken to hospital with injuries, the cable said. Others said they had collapsed on the road because of heat exhaustion, it added.
“It would be better to die under the Taliban’s bullet” than face the crowds again, one staff member was quoted as saying in the cable.
“Happy to die here, but with dignity and pride,” another said, while a third accused the U.S. of prioritizing Afghan government elites with contacts in America, who already had the correct paperwork and other ways of fleeing the country.continues:

Things are going great
just as planned
Ap
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden said Sunday the U.S.-led evacuation of Americans, at-risk Afghans and others from the Kabul airport accelerated this weekend, although it remains vulnerable to threats posed by the Islamic State extremist group.
One week after the Taliban completed its takeover of Afghanistan by capturing Kabul, Biden said discussions are underway among military officials about potentially extending the airlift beyond Biden’s Aug. 31 deadline. “Our hope is we will not have to extend, but there are discussions,” he said, suggesting the possibility that the Taliban will be consulted.
Since Aug. 14, one day before the Taliban entered Kabul, the airlift has evacuated 28,000 people, Biden said. He did not elaborate, but that number appeared to include not just U.S. military flights but also charter and non-U.S. military flights.
Speaking at the White House, Biden said 11,000 people had been airlifted from Kabul in a 36-hour period this weekend, but he did not provide details. The number appeared to include flights by charter and non-U.S. military aircraft as well as the U.S. Air Force C-17 and C-130 transport planes that have been flying daily from the capital. Tens of thousands of people remain to join the airlift, which has been slowed by security issues and U.S. bureaucracy hurdles.
Biden asserted, without a full explanation, that U.S. forces have managed to improve access to the airport for Americans and others seeking to get on flights. He suggested that the perimeter had been extended, widening a “safe zone.”
“What I’m not going to do is talk about the technical changes we’re making to make sure we maintain as much security as we can,” he said. “We have constantly, how can I say, increased rational access to the airport, where more folks can get there, more safely. It is still a dangerous operation but I don’t want to go into the detail of how we’re doing that.”
Later Biden added: “We discussed a lot with the Taliban. They’ve been cooperative in extending some of the perimeter.”
He said groups of Americans in Kabul are being moved more efficiently and safely to the airport, but he did not provide details.
“Any American who wants to get home, will get home,” he asserted.
Just because he didn't detail everything doesn't matter. When you have to talk to an audience, you don't need to explain every single detail.

Swing-District Democrat Brushes Off Afghanistan
August 22, 2021 at 6:59 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard
“Republican efforts to saddle the Democrats with fallout from the fall of Kabul won’t necessarily fly with voters — or instill fears in midterm candidates,” Axios reports.
“Axios traveled to Virginia’s 7th District last week, where Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) is running for re-election in a bellwether district. She focused solely on selling President Biden’s stimulus package and the bipartisan infrastructure deal still working its way through Congress.
“In conversations the congresswoman had with her Richmond-area constituents, Afghanistan didn’t come up.”
We HAD to get out of there, and should have much sooner.
Biden Plans No Firings
August 22, 2021 at 5:48 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard
“President Biden isn’t inclined to fire any senior national security officials over the chaos in Kabul unless the situation drastically deteriorates or there’s significant loss of American life,” Axios reports.
“Dismissing national security advisor Jake Sullivan, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin or CIA Director William Burns would be tantamount to admitting a mistake, and the president stands by his decision.”
Said Biden:
“Let me be clear: The evacuation of thousands of people from Kabul was going to be hard and painful no matter when it started, when we began. It would have been true if we had started a month ago — or a month from now. There’s no way to evacuate this many people without pain and loss of heartbreaking images you see on television. It’s just a fact.”
