Kindler Gentler Taliban

Taliban Co-Founder: Sharia Law Amputations & Executions Will Return to Afghan
Taliban leader Mullah Turabi: “We will follow Islam and we will make our laws on the Quran.”
The newly-established Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will impose Sharia law in its entirety on the country’s population, Taliban’s former top Islamic law enforcer declared. As a sigh of moderation, the regime may now carry out these gruesome punishments away from the public eye, he added. One-eyed and one-legged Taliban leader, Turabi, warned the international community not to interfere as they take Afghanistan back the Islamic Dark Ages. “No one will tell us what our laws should be. We will follow Islam and we will make our laws on the Quran,” Turabi asserted.
Since the Taliban overran Kabul on Aug. 15 and seized control of the country, Afghans and the world have been watching to see whether they will re-create their harsh rule of the late 1990s. Turabi’s comments pointed to how the group’s leaders remain entrenched in a deeply conservative, hard-line worldview, even if they are embracing technological changes, like video and mobile phones.

In another complete miscalculation, the Biden Administration decided to trust the Taliban telling everyone that they had changes and were willing, able, and desired to fit in with the international community. They suggested that they would no longer be the same tyrants and that they would even start treating their women better.

Since taking back control, the Taliban has sent all female workers home, they have brought back Sharia law and are now suggesting that they will still carry out floggings, summary executions, and cutting off of people's hands. Seems like the same old Taliban and the same old Biden competency.

A lot of Biden's decisions are very similar to Trump! He was planning to withdraw from NATO. Biden has done several similar decisions.

This will trigger another tirade.

The FBI had a couple CI in the proud Boys etc.. you would be saying that the FBI is responsible for the Insurrection.

“As scores of Proud Boys made their way, chanting and shouting, toward the Capitol on Jan. 6, one member of the far-right group was busy texting a real-time account of the march,” the New York Times reports.

“The recipient was his FBI handler.”

“In the middle of an unfolding melee that shook a pillar of American democracy — the peaceful transfer of power — the bureau had an informant in the crowd, providing an inside glimpse of the action… In the informant’s version of events, the Proud Boys, famous for their street fights, were largely following a pro-Trump mob consumed by a herd mentality rather than carrying out any type of preplanned attack.”

Horror story President Biden is going to get blamed by you and Trump of course.

The U.S. and its allies have been trying to use the threat of isolation — and the economic damage that would result from it — to pressure the Taliban to moderate their rule and give other factions, minorities and women a place in power.

But Turabi dismissed criticism over the previous Taliban rule, arguing that it had succeeded in bringing stability. “We had complete safety in every part of the country,” he said of the late 1990s.

Even as Kabul residents express fear over their new Taliban rulers, some acknowledge grudgingly that the capital has already become safer in just the past month. Before the Taliban takeover, bands of thieves roamed the streets, and relentless crime had driven most people off the streets after dark.

“It’s not a good thing to see these people being shamed in public, but it stops the criminals because when people see it, they think ‘I don’t want that to be me,’” said Amaan, a storeowner in the center of Kabul. He asked to be identified by just one name.

We don't know what will happen even next week.

Ot but both sides should stop using conspiracy theories

From Russiagate to the MyPillow Guy, Let's Stop With Electoral Conspiracy TheoriesBefore Mike Lindell's lunatic claims and Donald Trump's sour grapes over 2020, there was Hillary Clinton and the media's false insistence on Kremlin interference.

A federal grand jury has indicted attorney and cybersecurity consultant Michael Sussman for lying to the FBI when he presented the agency with alleged evidence that Donald Trump was in cahoots with the Kremlin. The main issue? When Sussman told the feds in 2016 that Trump's organization had a "secret communications channel" with the Russian-owned Alfa Bank, he claimed that he wasn't acting on behalf of any particular client. In fact, the indictment says, he was working for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.

Sussman's data, like many other attempts to tie the Queens-born businessman to Russian interests, turned out to be garbage. The indictment was brought by special counsel John Durham, whose office has already convicted a former FBI agent for "falsifying a document in internal emails over surveilling former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page."

This case is a stark reminder that attempts to delegitimize American election results hardly started with the MyPillow guy's insane claims of mass voter fraud or the Trump team's spectacularly unsuccessful serial lawsuits aimed at showing the Joe Biden stole the 2020 race. Long before Trump tried to undermine Amtrak Joe, Hillary Clinton, the Democratic establishment, and scores of media people at The New York Times, The Washington Post, MSNBC, and elsewhere were committed to what became known as "Russiagate": a series of related, overlapping, and ultimately unsubstantiated theories that Trump was an active agent of the Kremlin, was being run by the oligarchs who financed his global empire, or was being blackmailed by Vladimir Putin's secret service.

The most entertaining of these conspiracy theories was undoubtedly the "pee tape," a purported recording of Trump in 2013 watching two prostitutes urinate on a bed once used by Barack Obama at the Moscow Ritz-Carlton. Sadly, the pee tape story has no more evidence supporting it than the one about J. Edgar Hoover keeping John Dillinger's severed penis in his office. Yet Sussman's claims about Trump and Alfa Bank helped goad really-want-it-to-be-true journalists such as Franklin Foer into writing dubious stories before and after the 2016 election that Trump was fatally compromised by a foreign power. Just as the John Birch Society once was deranged enough to denounce Dwight Eisenhower as a "conscious, dedicated agent of the Communist conspiracy," Trump critics such as Hillary Clinton averred he was Putin's "puppet."

More important, claims made to federal agents by Sussman and in the document known as "the Steele dossier" (the origin of the pee tape story) helped to jump-start an FBI investigation into a president based on faulty documents and tainted by partisan hostility. At various points identified as a good-faith, credible document, the Steele dossier was in fact poorly vetted opposition research that was funded by the Clinton campaign. (For a fantastic analysis of Fusion GPS, the private intelligence group that produced the document, read Barry Meier's Spooked: The Secret Rise of Private Spies.)

Donald Trump needs to own his lunatic fantasies that the 2020 election was stolen from him. But his conspiracy theory was merely the latest in a series of sour-grapes stolen-election stories (out of the last six presidential races, only two—2008 and 2012—have not generated such tales). And the discredited Russiagate narrative—which involved a politically motivated investigation of a sitting president and is pushed relentlessly by the Democratic establishment and a good chunk of the media to this day—is a deeply disturbing reminder that nutbaggery is a fundamental feature of liberals and conservatives.

Liberal vs. conservative is a lot better than now.

That might be because the Donks reneged on our agreement to support South Vietnam

When asked in a recent interview how a Democratic Congress could stop the war, Rep. The latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data suggest that America's summer COVID-19 surge may have peaked. Back in late June, the seven-day average of cases stood at just 12,000, but this ramped up more than 12-fold to 160,000 by early September. The seven-day average is just under 130,000 now.

COVID-19 deaths lag cases by about a month. The seven-day average for deaths dropped to 175 by July 6. Since then, the seven-day average for deaths has risen to more than 2,000 and has not yet begun to fall. (For reference, the seven-day average for cases in the U.S. peaked during the winter surge in early January at around 260,000, and deaths peaked at around 3,300 later that month.)

Thoughts On the Arizona Audit  Part 3 – What Happens Next?

Five different entities have the ability to take corrective action and make right the wrongs that were committed in last November’s election.

DOJ/FBI

The Department of Justice and FBI have the ability to investigate criminal activity related to the election. Under Merrick Garland, here is little hope they will take action.

US Congress

The US Congress could have an opportunity to act if states decertify their electors and demand a recount of electoral votes. Although people like Wendy Rogers hope this will happen, I have no confidence that Nancy Pelosi will allow such a recount to take place in the House.

State Legislatures

Some state legislatures are conducting audits, and I expect more to do so in the future. If a state legislative body determined that a fraudulent election was certified, it could vote to decertify Biden electors and certify Trump electors. That could happen in Arizona, but there are obstacles to overcome.

The Arizona legislature is out of session and is unlikely to be called back into session this calendar year. Once they are back in session, a motion could be put before the House and Senate to decertify the election. The balance of power in the House and Senate are tight and there is no room for defectors, but RINOs like Paul Boyer are unlikely to vote in favor of decertification. For that reason, I’m not optimistic about the prospects of any legislative body succeeding in decertifying its election, since RINOs are commonplace in state legislatures across the country. Even if a state did manage to decertify its electors, it would need the US Congress to take action and that seems unlikely.

Courts
If a case were brought before a judge, they could overturn the results of an election and either name the second place finisher the winner or order a new election. I believe there is a good chance this will happen. But if a state election were nullified, it would not change the outcome of the national election. That would require action from Congress or a decision by the Supreme Court to nullify or reverse the result of the national election—both of which seem unlikely.

The Military
It is my view that because civilian entities will in the end, prove unwilling or unable to make things right, at some point, the military will have little choice but to intervene. I won’t speculate as to the reason for the intervention other than to say it might be predicated on evidence that a foreign government hijacked our election and installed its own puppet as our commander in chief.

The Prime Minister of Great Britain doesn't agree with you Scott.

Boris Johnson was widely seen as an ally of Donald Trump’s. The former president referred to the British prime minister as “Britain Trump,” and Johnson praised Trump’s handling of the U.S. economy. But now Johnson has made a 180-degree turn, and he’s singing President Biden’s praises. Fresh from what he viewed as a triumphant visit to the White House on Tuesday, Johnson sat down with The Washington Post’s Lally Weymouth at the British ambassador’s temporary residence in Washington to spell out with boyish enthusiasm what he had received from the Biden administration during his trip to D.C. — including the lifting of a coronavirus-driven travel ban, among other items. The prime minister wanted to minimize France’s displeasure at being cut out of the recent submarine deal negotiated over months in secret by Britain, the United States and Australia. Without missing a beat, he brushed off the words of French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, who called the secret deal “a knife in the back” and a “unilateral, brutal and unpredictable decision.” Only a few weeks ago, Johnson and senior members of his government saw the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan as unwise and reportedly were annoyed at not being given advance notice by the White House. Now Johnson is talking about working with the Taliban. Edited excerpts of the interview follow:
Q: What did you get from your meeting with President Biden?
A: We had a long audience with the president, which went extremely well. It was more than an hour and a half; it was ages. It was fantastic. We covered everything. I genuinely don’t think there has been a time I can remember when I felt such a complete community of ideas and interests.
Q: With President Biden?
A: Not just with Biden but with the U.S. at the moment. We really see things from the same perspective.
Q: But you didn’t see them from the same perspective when the Biden administration withdrew from Afghanistan, right?
A: No, we went in together. We supported the United States in trying to get rid of al-Qaeda.
Q: But I’m talking about the U.S. troop withdrawal. Didn’t your own defense secretary say that the U.S. made a mistake? [British Secretary of State for Defense Ben Wallace called the U.S. decision to leave Afghanistan a “mistake” and added that the “international community will probably pay the consequences.”]
A: I don’t think he said that. What I said to Joe is how grateful I am for the amazing work of the U.S. military in helping us to extricate in two weeks 15,000 people from Kabul to whom we owe debts of honor and gratitude. The U.S. military were heroic.

Trump is the traitor.

I wouldn't vote for Mike Pence because I don't agree with him but he is a true American!

Earlier this week, CNN obtained a copy of a legal memorandum prepared for then-President Donald Trump that envisioned a "January 6 scenario" under which Trump could seek to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, which he lost to Joe Biden.

Authored by conservative law professor John Eastman, the "Eastman Memo," as it has been dubbed in the press, argued that Vice President Mike Pence, while presiding over the joint session of Congress on January 6, 2021, possessed the sole power to count electoral votes and that Pence should use this power to reject pro-Biden votes and thus deliver the White House to Trump. "Howls, of course, from the Democrats," Eastman wrote. "The main thing here is that Pence should do this without asking for permission—either from a vote of the joint session or from the Court." According to Eastman, "the Constitution assigns this power to the Vice President as the final arbiter. We should take all of our actions with that in mind."

In reality, the Constitution assigns no such power to the vice president. Eastman's scheme is bogus on its face. Indeed, just imagine if Vice President Al Gore had attempted a similar power grab in January 2001 by unilaterally gaveling himself in as the winner of the 2000 presidential election instead of his opponent, George W. Bush. As Case Western Reserve University law professor Jonathan Alder has observed, the Eastman memo is "poor lawyering for a disreputable cause."

Alas, those negatives did not deter Trump, who embraced Eastman's poor lawyering and publicly lobbied his vice president to overturn the election by rejecting pro-Biden electoral votes. "If Mike Pence does the right thing," Trump said. "We win the election."

In the end, Pence did do the right thing. "It is my considered judgment," the vice president said, "that my oath to support and defend the Constitution constrains me from claiming unilateral authority to determine which electoral votes should be counted and which should not."

In a normal era I wouldn't support arresting a former President, but in his case he should rot in jail alone.

Pelosi knows more than most about politics.

WASHINGTON — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill will come to the floor for a vote next week despite its fate being held hostage by Democratic progressives threatening to tank the bill if a sweeping $3.5 trillion social spending measure doesn’t pass first.

“It will come up on Monday,” the California Democrat told reporters on Friday.

Pelosi’s assurances come as roughly a dozen House centrist Democrats threaten to derail the massive reconciliation package if Democratic Party leaders don’t make good on their agreement to bring the bipartisan bill to address “hard infrastructure” up for a vote by Sept. 27.
