LIke Joe Biden I understand what it is like to have a love one killed by terrorists...

Even though I didn't have anyone I love killed by a terrorist

You see, my dad fought back in the sixties in Vietnam. Was an enlisted man at the time who did one tour of Vietnam. Decades later he died of small cell lung cancer. That means that I understand the grief that the families of the slain soldiers are going through.

At least according to Joe Biden's public relations speech writers.

The truth is that I have no real clue. The fact that my dad both fought in a war and died does not really provide me with any empathy for someone who had a close loved one killed in a terrorist attack that could have been avoided with even remedial planning. The two situations are not remotely connected and it's insulting to the people who died in the terror attack to suggest otherwise.

But that hasn't stopped Joe Biden from bringing up his son Beau everytime he talks about the dead soldiers. According to social media posts, he brought up Beau as he was talking to the grieving families. One mother literally explained on Social media that she had specifically asked Biden not to "make it about him" and said he rolled his eyes at her and eventually walked away.

Her account was deleted by Facebook. Go figure.

Apparently the grieving families should be proud of the President and his unprecedented success in his withdrawal. The President has now given multiple speeches where he has praised himself and his own leadership and the results of this fiasco. Yesterday he did so by literally yelling it, rather than just saying it. Apparently this is his version of a commenter here using BOLD or capital letters to make a bigger point. Either that or he was having issues with a hearing aide.

Either way, it's well past the time of Joe Biden bringing up his dead son. Yeah, I can emphasize with someone who had a loved one die of cancer. But that doesn't mean that I can emphasize with someone who lost a loved one due to a strategic military fuck up. Neither can Joe Biden, so perhaps he stops pretending he can.

There were different reactions from the families of the slain. One father stated that it could not have been easy for Biden to appear there and speak as he spoke. At one point, that father said, Biden pulled from his pocket the card he keeps with him always showing the latest number of the dead and showed it to that father.

His son was not killed in action. He did not make the ultimate sacrifice for his country.

It was more important to sympathize with the families then go on some narcissistic tirade.

The use of his dead son, dead first wife and daughter as political props is horrible enough. But his absolute lack of empathy and even outright disdain for the people whom he is directly responsible for bringing on incalculable suffering and loss proves beyond any doubt that "the Big Guy" occupying the White House is a sociopath. The dementia can no longer be an excuse for his pathology; it merely serves to underscore it. This cannot be sloughed off and excused as incompetence, though for sure, ideology and Trump derangement in reflexively doing the opposite of what Trump did does play a role in this.

Majority of Americans Support Leaving Afghanistan
September 1, 2021 at 8:41 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

A new Pew Research poll, conducted prior to the last troop leaving Afghanistan this week, found 54% of U.S. adults said the decision to withdraw troops from the country was the right one while 42% said they think it was the wrong move.

Also worth noting: 69% feel the United States mostly failed in achieving its goals in Afghanistan.

Biden Plays the Long Game on Afghanistan

New York Times:
“...after a half-century in national politics, Mr. Biden knows better than most how quickly the news cycle moves on. His advisers and allies expect another round of tough criticism around the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with pictures showing the Taliban flag flying over Kabul.

“Within days or weeks of that, though, they assume that attention will shift back again
to the coronavirus pandemic,
the president’s proposals for large public works projects and social welfare programs,
and a dozen other issues that will absorb the public more than far-off Afghanistan.”
_______

JAMES SAYS:
While we will continue to honor those who died,
most Americans feel that we should never again involve ourselves in so futile an attempt at nation building unless we have a situation where it can work.

Did we ever do successful nation building?

Yes, after WWII with Germany and Japan.
And more recently with Bosnia.

It can be done, but it must be done in the right way. It was not a wise decisions to attempt nation build in in Afghanistan. Once our immediate goals were reached, getting Osama bin Laden and severely punishing Al Quieda, we should have gotten out.

George W. Bush said he did not believe in nation building, but eventually gave in to those who advocated it for both Afghanist and and Iraq.

Major mistake.

President Joe Biden wanted the now-departed Afghan president to create the 'perception' that his government was capable of holding off the Taliban - an indication he knew it was only a matter of time before the US ally fell to the Islamic group even while reassuring Americans at home that it would not happen.

In the last phone call between Biden and his Afghan then-counterpart Ashraf Ghani, the American president said they needed to change perceptions of the Taliban's rapid advance 'whether it is true or not,' according to excerpts published on Tuesday.

The call took place on July 23 - weeks before the fall of Kabul - but Biden on Tuesday repeated his assertion that his team was caught flat-footed by the rapid Taliban takeover of the country.

'The assumption was that more than 300,000 Afghan national security forces that we had trained over the past two decades, and equipped, would be a strong adversary in their civil wars with the Taliban,' Biden told the nation in a televised speech from the White House on Tuesday.

'That assumption that the Afghan government would be able to hold on for a period of time beyond military drawdown turned out not to be accurate.

'But I still instructed our national security team to prepare for every eventuality, even that one. And that's what we did.

'So, we were ready when the Afghan security forces, after two decades of fighting for their country and losing thousands of their own, did not hold on as long as anyone expected.'

Four weeks before Kabul collapsed, Ghani pleaded for more air support and money for soldiers who had not had a pay rise in a decade.

A transcript obtained by Reuters from an anonymous source reveals two leaders oblivious to the impending disaster and an American president focused on spinning the message.

'I need not tell you the perception around the world and in parts of Afghanistan, I believe, is that things are not going well in terms of the fight against the Taliban,' Biden said.

'And there is a need, whether it is true or not, there is a need to project a different picture.'

The Taliban were already capturing district after district across the country, while the US and Afghanistan were at loggerheads over tactics.

WASHINGTON — Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has filmed a public service announcement to encourage people to get the Covid-19 vaccine, a 30-second video shot and distributed by the National Association of Broadcasters and the Kentucky Broadcasters Association.

The PSA begins with a voice-over, then turns to McConnell speaking directly to camera saying: “As a boy, I fought polio. Today, America’s been polio-free for 40 years — thanks to vaccinations. We’ll beat Covid-19 with vaccines, too. Protect yourself and your family. Get vaccinated.”

The PSA is just another example of McConnell’s push for Americans to get vaccinated. Just last month, he launched radio ads in Kentucky to promote vaccine efforts in the state.

The ad has been made available to stations across the country, but it has aired over 100 times in local TV markets in Kentucky, a spokesman for McConnell tells NBC News. McConnell’s office approached the National Association of Broadcasters about doing the PSA, and he recorded it at the Kentucky Broadcasters Association studios in Louisville.

Biden’s treason led to the murder of 13 American military personnel. His aid and comfort to the enemy, his adherence to the Taliban at the expense of American soldiers and civilians led to the massacre of Americans. And he can and should be impeached for his treasonous crimes.

Joe Biden’s treasonous decision to entrust American lives and security to the enemy was not committed out of any pure motive, but to protect his own political career. After decades of appeasing Islamic terrorists, Biden was only doing what came naturally to him. And he had either learned nothing from Benghazi or he simply did not care about the risk to Americans.

Like Blount and later Burr, Biden, the third ‘B’ in the bunch, committed treason out of self-interest, throwing in with America’s enemies because he thought it would profit him.

That does not lessen his treason. It worsens it.

America’s original traitors, men like Benedict Arnold and Aaron Burr, were motivated by greed, pride, and wounded egos. They did not believe in anything except themselves.

Biden’s treason is that of a career politician who will sacrifice anyone for his own sake.

Here you go, Cali. Now call me a liar again.

From the Washington Post:

Despite Schmitz’s disenchantment with Biden, one part of the encounter did strike him favorably. The president at one point pulled out the card he keeps in his breast pocket showing the number of American service members who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It’s something Biden has talked about for years, but now the card had an addition that reflected the new toll that Biden was responsible for. “At the end of it, it had ‘Plus 13,’ ” Schmitz said. “I know it’s just a number, but it was a simple reflective thing that he looks at. I’ll give him kudos there.”

In recounting the meeting, Schmitz said he did not want to make it political. His own emotions at times appeared contradictory and changing. He didn’t want to meet with Biden, and then he did. He didn’t intend to shake his hand, and then he did. He agrees with Biden on the need to withdraw, but believes that he botched the way it should have been done.

And while he hardened when Biden entered the room, he said he also understood how difficult it must have been for the president to take that step.

“It had to be one of the hardest things he’s ever had to do,” Schmitz said. “You make some calls, here’s the aftereffect. It’s got to be difficult. I’m not saying it was easy at all. But you can’t run up and hug someone as if you had nothing to do with it. It’s not going to work that way when you’re commander in chief.”

Biden did not address the group collectively with prepared comments, instead making his way around the room for more private moments with each individual family. And the reactions varied widely; some families opted not to meet with Biden at all, while others accepted hugs from him...

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump acknowledged to advisors that he made up a fake injury to avoid military service, because “I wasn’t going to Vietnam,” his former lawyer told lawmakers during testimony on Wednesday.

Michael Cohen, who also worked as a fixer for Trump before his election, said he was tasked with tamping down criticism of the military deferment as the presidential candidate simultaneously mocked Sen. John McCain, a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, for being regarded as a military hero. “I like people who weren’t captured," Trump said during a July 2015 interview. He didn't like your father. Joe Biden does.

“Mr. Trump claimed (his medical deferment) was because of a bone spur, but when I asked for medical records, he gave me none and said there was no surgery,” Cohen told members of the House Oversight Committee under oath. “He told me not to answer the specific questions by reporters but rather offer simply the fact that he received a medical deferment.

“He finished the conversation with the following comment: ‘You think I'm stupid, I wasn't going to Vietnam.’”

Well, Ch, I too saw the video of a man hanging from a helicopter, but I noted that he did not appear to be hanging from his neck, and I even wondered if he might be alive.

I guess I think about these things a little more deeply than you do.

And just now I found this (it is rather lengthy, but I'm sure you want the coldhearted TRUTH):

Fact check: Video shows Taliban fighter attached to helicopter, not public hanging
Daniel Funke
USA TODAY

The claim: A video shows the Taliban hanging someone from a helicopter

In a video and screenshots seen by millions of people in just over a day, a helicopter is seen trailing a rope with a blurry figure attached.

The full 12-second clip shows a helicopter in Afghanistan hovering over buildings. Then, the video zooms in to show what appears to be a person hanging from the helicopter by a rope.

"Taliban hanging someone from a helicopter in Kandahar," Old Holborn, a "comedian" and "stoic libertarian legend," tweeted Aug. 30.

The clip, originally tweeted by a counterterrorism expert who said he wasn't sure what it depicted, racked up more than 2.6 million views in just over a one day. From there, the claim that the Taliban used a U.S.-supplied helicopter to hang someone spread across social media.

Sen. Ted Cruz and Rep. Dan Crenshaw, both Republicans from Texas, shared Old Holborn's clip on Twitter. Several news outlets, including the New York Post and India Today, wrote about the video, taking the hanging description at face value. Conservative commentators like Pamela Geller and Wayne Dupree shared the claim to their hundreds of thousands of followers on Facebook.

But that never happened.

In the wake of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Taliban has recovered American military equipment left behind by retreating Afghan forces, including aircraft.

However, the video does not show a public execution – another angle of the incident shows the man is alive. Several media and fact-checking organizations have reported the clip shows a Taliban fighter trying to hoist a flag on a building in the city of Kandahar.

USA TODAY reached out to Old Holborn and other social media users who shared the clip for comment.

Person in video wasn't hanged
The video does not show the Taliban executing someone with a U.S.-supplied helicopter. It shows a Taliban fighter trying to put a flag on a building.

The clip originated from Tabasum Radio, whose name is written across the video. The Afghan radio station posted the video Aug. 30 on Telegram, an encrypted messaging platform.

"A helicopter has been spotted at the Kandahar governor's office with one person hanging, officials have not yet commented," the radio station wrote in Pashto, according to Google Translate.

Another angle of the incident shows the man is alive.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

In the longer video, the man waves his hands and moves his legs as he is lowered to the top of a building. A closer look at the footage shows the man appears to be strapped into a harness, not hanging from a noose.

Alt News, an independent fact-checking organization in India, reported the man is a Taliban fighter. According to multiple Afghan news outlets with reporters on the ground, he was trying to hoist a flag on the governor's office in Kandahar.

Shortly before it posted the video, Tabasum Radio posted another image of a helicopter at the Kandahar governor's office. Later that day, the radio station posted again, saying the "provincial administration has called on the people to hoist flags on shops and businesses in the city in protest of the withdrawal of US and international forces," according to Google Translate.

Bilal Sarwary, a freelance journalist in Afghanistan, tweeted Aug. 31 that the clip shows a Taliban fighter trying to install a flag on a building.

"Afghan pilot flying this is someone I have known over the years," Sarwary wrote on Twitter. "He was trained in the US and UAE, he confirmed to me that he flew the Blackhawk helicopter. Taliban fighter seen here was trying to install Taliban flag from air but it didn’t work in the end."

In an email to USA TODAY, Tabasum Radio confirmed the video showed someone trying to hoist a flag.

"One of the Taliban government's bodyguards tried to tie the flag to the 100-meter-high antenna by helicopter but was unable to do so," the station wrote in an emailed statement to USA TODAY.

Sadiqullah Afghan, head of the radio station, gave a similar account to Fact Crescendo, another Indian fact-checking organization. He told the outlet he shot the video Aug. 30 on his phone.

Eric Pahon, a spokesman for the Defense Department, declined USA TODAY's request for comment.

Our rating: False
Based on our research, we rate FALSE the claim that a video shows the Taliban hanging someone from a helicopter. Another angle of the incident shows the man in the video was alive. Multiple news outlets and fact-checking organizations, as well as Afghan media outlets, have reported the man was a Taliban fighter trying to hoist a flag on a building in Kandahar. A local radio station that recorded video of the incident confirmed the footage shows a man trying to hang a flag, not being hanged.

President Donald Trump's eldest son perpetuated the fake story of executions happening via helicopter in Afghanistan.

Donald Trump Jr. created an image using President Joe Biden's logo with a helicopter dangling a body. He certainly wasn't the only one to push the debunked story. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) both pushed the fake news this week, CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale tweeted.

The group of them were duped by a self-described comedian who posted a blurry video showing a man dangling from a rope attached to a helicopter. The comedian captioned it as: "Taliban hanging someone from a helicopter in Kandahar."

"Nobody was executed on the Kandahar helicopter flight depicted in the viral videos," said Dale. "Other footage shows that the man dangling from the helicopter was wearing a harness around his body, not a noose around his neck, and that he was moving freely -- even appearing to wave."

Indeed, the survey’s Daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows Biden’s approval plunging to a historical low of 42 percent — a two-point drop from the 44 percent recorded on Tuesday, which matched his previous record low.

Of the 56 percent who disapprove of Biden’s job performance, 47 percent “strongly” disapprove — a two-point increase from the 45 percent who “strongly” disapproved on Tuesday.

Biden has not seen a net approval in Rasmussen’s tracking survey since July 21, when 50 percent approved and 48 percent disapproved.

The sinking trends follow Biden’s address to the nation on Tuesday, where he acknowledged his administration did, in fact, leave Americans behind in the jihadist-controlled country.

Some experts on U.S. election law have been warning that the most dangerous part of Republican voter suppression bills isn't the ways in which they make voting more difficult — it is the ways in which they seek to change the administration of elections. Liberal Washington Post columnist Greg Sargent and legal scholar Neil H. Buchanan sound the alarm in articles published this week, and both of them offer some possible remedies.

Sargent explains, "There is a critical way Congress can minimize the possibility of another January 6: by addressing glaring legal vulnerabilities in the presidential electoral process that encouraged Donald Trump's movement to try to overturn his loss, creating the conditions for the worst outbreak of U.S. political violence in recent times. We're talking about revising the Electoral Count Act (ECA) of 1887. That may sound dry and unexciting, but it would shore up hidden weaknesses that made the 2020 breakdown possible."

America was colonized by Christian Europe, specifically Protestant Christian Europe, beginning in 1607 at Jamestown, Virginia, and Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1620. Americans take for granted the intense battle for humanity’s mind that this history represents. The notion of natural individual rights through a Creator; the notion of the development of the person (male or female); the notion of personal Liberty; the notion of people as a reflection of the divine—the undergirding of our way of life is the result of being on the Western side of this war.

We are now at the Battle of Afghanistan, 2021. Because our military and political leaders have not read a history book, they deem it a 20-year war, but they are wrong. It is a thirteen-hundred-and-eighty-nine-year war that we will lose because we do not know we are in it.

The Navy SEAL was right. Our political and military leaders make decisions without a clue. We had a stable and neutralized position in Afghanistan, with very few troops, that served as a check on Islamic Jihad and the rise of an Islamic caliphate and harsh Sharia Law.

We do not need to be there to nation-build—something that anyone who knows history knows cannot be successful. We are there because Islam decided to attack the West once again in 2001. We are there to save Western Civilization. We cannot allow a humiliating defeat.

An extremist group wants to have a Christian vs Muslim world war and annailation of Muslims.

https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2021/08/the_thirteenhundredandeightynineyear_war.html

A pro-Russia propagandist pumped Stop the Steal -- and then fled to Moscow after Jan. 6: SPLC

A pro-Russia propagandist promoted the lie that Donald Trump won the election in Pennsylvania and went to the US Capitol on Jan. 6, before abruptly disappearing and later resurfacing Moscow, the Southern Poverty Law Center's Hatewatch reports in a new investigation.

As Hatewatch previously reported, Charles Bausman moved to Lancaster, a key region in the battle for Pennsylvania's electoral votes in 2018. He purchased a home there for $442,000 after spending almost three decades as an American expatriate in Russia. Hatewatch's previous investigation revealed that Bausman established the pro-Russia website Russia Insider in 2014, and also that two racist junk websites shared the same Google Analytics account with Russia Insider. All three websites featured bylines from members of the white nationalist organization The Right Stuff. As an example of Bausman's open support of Nazism, Hatewatch reported that a 2019 post on Russia Insider was entitled "Adolf Hitler's Spot-On 1936 Speech on the Evil of Soviet Bolshevism (Transcript)."

Report Advertisement

Hatewatch has also previously linked Bausman to a far-right junk news site called Lancaster Patriot that sprung up in late 2020 and then went dark after a local news outlet exposed its editor as a white supremacist. But a physical version of the publication has appeared in recent months promoting vaccine skepticism.

In addition to promoting anti-lockdown activism in 2020, Bausman joined protests seeking to overturn the presidential election in Lancaster County in late 2020, including one outside Pennsylvania House Speaker Bryan Cutlar's House that included several members of Rod of Iron Ministries, which venerates the AR-15 in its worship services. As Raw Story has previously reported, Rod of Iron Ministries member Robert Pickell scuffled with police outside the Columbus Doors on the east side of the Capitol on Jan. 6 and cult leader Sean Moon led members into the scaffolding on the west side of the building.

Republican Vaccine Denial Is Not a Political Strategy
September 1, 2021 at 12:00 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 27 Comments

Jonathan Chait:
“Never attribute to malice, states Hanlon’s razor, that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
In defiance of that precept, many liberals have suggested that the Republican Party’s subversion of the pandemic response is a plot to undermine the Biden presidency.

“No doubt Republicans are happy to see the Delta wave harming Biden’s polls,
and for many, their Schadenfreude may even outweigh their humanitarian concern.
But the notion that they engineered this outcome deliberately flies in the face of nearly all the evidence we have.

“The Republican posture toward the coronavirus has not fundamentally changed since Biden’s election.
Since the virus appeared, the party has consistently denied or downplayed its seriousness and opposed any measures to contain it: masking, vaccines, shutdowns of both public and private spaces.”

Most Say Abortion Should Be Legal
September 1, 2021 at 11:25 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 82 Comments

A new NBC News poll finds 54% of all adults say abortion should be legal in “all or most cases,” while 42% saying it should be illegal.

“One other thing to consider in this debate: Much of the country appears to be in the middle on abortion… It’s just that our present political system — and our political parties — can’t handle the middle anymore, especially on abortion.”

NO DOGS LEFT BEHIND: #Pentagon Spokesman John Kirby called out Fox News and other right wing media outlets spreading false information. "To correct erroneous reports, the U.S. Military did not leave any dogs in cages at Hamid Karzai International Airport, including the reported military working dogs. Photos circulating online were animals under the care of the Kabul Small Animal Rescue, not dogs under our care," Kirby said in a tweet.

rrb said...

A Tennessee woman who owns an animal rescue center in Kabul was not allowed passage home by the Department of Defense because she carried a disabled puppy in her arms — one of 130 animals she was ordered to leave behind in the final days of airlifts.

Charlotte Maxwell-Jones refused to board the plane without her puppy on Monday, so the military ordered her to leave and turn loose 130 crated dogs that mostly belonged to Americans and Afghans who evacuated, according to social media postings. This occurred even though Maxwell-Jones secured flights from nonprofit organizations that had permission to land in a neutral country.

She left the airport after being stuck there for six days and returned home to an uncertain fate.

The Taliban visited Maxwell-Jones at home last week and ordered her to leave with her employees, she said in a tearful video posted on Twitter. She raised $703,705 on a GoFundMe page for an animal evacuation and desperately sought a landing permit.

“Five minutes ago, a fairly large group of Taliban left my lawn. … One of them had a grenade launcher. They told me I should leave immediately and tried to put guards inside my house. … We settled on outside my house,” Maxwell-Jones said in her video. “They have said they will give us safe passage to the airport for as large a group that we have. They told me to leave first. It’s very obvious what will happen.”

Maxwell-Jones was allowed to airlift military dogs, so she handed 46 animals to Veteran Sheepdogs of America for transport to Turkey. A video posted Tuesday said the dogs were in a hangar and given water in preparation for transport. However, the remaining dogs weren’t so fortunate. Maxwell-Jones begged the military to allow her to open bags of kibble and spread it across the tarmac for the suddenly homeless dogs, according to social media.

“In the end, the dogs and their caretakers were explicitly NOT allowed to board military aircraft, and numerous private charter aircraft were not granted access to the airport either,” SPCA International said in a statement. “Charlotte was informed that most of the [shelter] dogs had to be released into the airport on August 30 as the airport was evacuated – turning once rescued shelter dogs into homeless strays.”

A majority of voters believe President Biden should resign over his administration’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, a Rasmussen Reports survey released Wednesday found.

The survey asked respondents, “Should President Joe Biden resign because of the way the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan was handled?”

Overall, a majority, or 52 percent, said “yes,” Biden should resign, while 39 percent said he should not. Opinions over Biden resigning are sharply divided along party lines, as three-quarters of Republicans say he should — a sentiment held by nearly one-third of Democrats, 32 percent, and a plurality of independents, 48 percent.

Not sure where you are getting the rest of all of this. You claimed earlier that the fact there was a guy hanging from a helicopter was debunked right wing spin.

There was a guy hanging from a helicopter. I have no idea if he was executed previously, hung on the helicopter, or had a some sort of harness and was just taking a joyride.

Your quote earlier said nothing about execution, hanging by the neck, or any other nonsense. It just said that it was a lie that there was a man hanging from a helicopter.

Aaron Blake:
“They’ve trafficked repeatedly in recent days in false, misleading or unproved allegations involving - the Taliban hanging someone from an American helicopter

Where is the rest of it?

Seems to me that the only being stated here is that a man was hanging from a helicopter, which you both admit to seeing, but also claim to be a right wing hoax.

Where did I ever say the man was executed, hung by his neck, or anything else. I just said that there WAS a guy hanging from a helicopter and since there are no more Americans or Afghan army people in charge of any helicopters, it quite obviously was the Taliban.

What do you supposed they were doing and why?

Sort of "looks" like they were making some sort of statement. But then again, you believe that the Taliban are pillars of society and wouldn't hurt anyone... right?

You (not me) are the one claiming to KNOW what actually happened. Otherwise, if you didn't know FOR SURE then how can you be sure that ANYTHING at all has actually been debunked?

Your source seems to believe that the man on the end of the helicopter was attempting to put a flag on a building, when in fact there doesn't appear to be a flag or a building that he put any flag on.

Again... I have no idea why a guy was hanging from a helicopter. I just know that there WAS a guy hanging from a helicopter for whatever reasons.
