The left cannot argue without just lying

The whips and scorns of Del Rio, Texas
Finally, after averting its eyes, the Left has found a reason to take an interest as Haitian migrants flood by the thousands across the Rio Grande into Texas. Naturally, what grabbed their attention is not the real issue, which is President Joe Biden triggering an irruption of illegal aliens by foolishly inviting them in and scrapping immigration policies that worked.
The thing that brought a new focus, and piqued outrage, was video footage of mounted officers trying to control the invasion. What detonated the Left’s anger and started another embarrassingly vapid round of hand-wringing is captured by a false report from Business Insider that wrote of “Border Patrol agents on horseback whipping at Haitian migrants.” Reuters described agents swinging what appeared to be whips or lariats.
Immediately, congressional militants swung into Twitter action. Rep. Rashida Tlaib deployed her signature combination of stupidity and vulgarity by commenting, “Cracking a f***ing whip on Haitians fleeing hardship shows you that this system simply can’t be reformed.” Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar tweeted to much the same vacuous effect about poor migrants and horrid Americans.
Actually, the Border Protection officers didn’t have whips, let alone crack any. If there were any pictures of that happening, I feel sure we would have seen them. Nor did the officers use lariats. What were clearly pictured in their hands were horses’ reins. Mounted guards used their horses, as mounted police traditionally do — it’s what the horses are for — to move swiftly back and forth in front of the Haitian influx to keep migrants from coming ashore.

Lie about something, show your self righteous outrage at your own lie, have your lie proven to be a lie, and then provide a lame "yeah but" argument. Rince, lather, repeat.  The reality is that there is very little that the left argues about that is not a half truth, a misrepresentation, an outlier opinion, or a flat out lie. They appear to have no "good" reason to get mad at anyone but themselves, so they have to come up with a bad reason or simply make something up.

This author is correct. The issue isn't in how thousands and thousands of migrant Haitians are being treated at the border, the issue is why are there thousands and thousands of migrant Haitians there to begin with. The left wants to focus on the irrelevant, because cannot make any reasonable argument regarding the relevant.

Either way, Joe Biden is in charge. You believe that border control agents are flogging Haitian migrants while on horseback, then complain to and blame the man in charge. The man responsible for bringing these thousands and thousands of migrants to the border. But somehow, the left is just so used to complaining and having that complaint somehow help their cause that they just instinctively keep doing it, without actually being able to point their finger at anyone in charge.

The left believed Trump was "responsible" not only for Covid in general, but "responsible" for the behavior of every American in terms of what was happening. Now that Biden is President, the left acts as if he is the victim of Covid and the victim of the actions of every American.  Apparently Joe Biden is "fed up" with everyone else in the country, except of course, Joe Biden. The generic differences in how we assign blame are staggering. In fact, there are those out there who would still like the blame for what is happening in the country to be pointed at Trump, eight months out of office.

But what other choice does the left have? Biden's America is slowing falling apart. The left wants to pin that blame on everyone else. Whether it be Trump, Trump supporters, unvaccinated, doctors who follow international science rather than CDC science, or border control agents with whips, they will find someone other than Joe Biden to point fingers at. But blaming others wears thin pretty quickly. Especially when you are the President of the United States or the most powerful person on the planet. The buck has to stop somewhere.

They obviously didn't swim there.

Probably transported by a Soros NGO and dropped off somewhere close

Planes or ships but they definitely didn't walk or ride from an island country...

As I recall a trip of something like 1,700 miles

The President is going to send hundreds of million doses to Haiti and many other countries. It might slow the the death rates worldwide. But you won't give him any credit for the good things he's done since he was sworn in after the most dangerous Insurrection in history.

Because democrats require a permanent underclass to stay in power. The better question is - how did they get here and who brought them? Find those responsible and prosecute their asses. There needs to be a penalty for just dumping illegals in our country, no matter how badly the democrats need the votes.

'Code red for democracy': Backers of Trump’s false fraud claims seek to control next elections

Jason Lange

Reuters examined all 15 Republican candidates for secretary of state in five battlegrounds. Ten still question whether Trump lost the 2020 election.Democrats intensify fundraising as pro-Trump candidates aim to capture control of elections oversight in key states

Sept 22 (Reuters) - One leading candidate seeking to become Georgia’s chief elections official, Republican Jody Hice, is a Congressman who voted to overturn Democrat Joe Biden's 2020 presidential win in the hours after the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol. Hice had posted on social media earlier that day: “This is our 1776 moment,” referencing the American Revolution.

In Arizona, the contenders for the elections-chief office, secretary of state, include Republican state lawmaker Mark Finchem, who attended the ‘Stop the Steal’ rally before the deadly insurrection and spoke at a similar gathering the previous day. In Nevada, one strong Republican candidate for elections chief is Jim Marchant, who unsuccessfully sued to have his own defeat in a 2020 congressional race reversed based on unfounded voter-fraud claims.

The three candidates are part of a wider group of Republican secretary-of-state contenders in America’s swing states who have embraced former President Donald Trump's false claims that he lost a “rigged” election. Their candidacies have alarmed Democrats and voting-rights groups, who fear that the politicians who tried hardest to undermine Americans’ faith in elections last year may soon be the ones running them - or deciding them, in future contested votes.

Jena Griswold, chair of the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State and Colorado's top elections official, said the secretary-of-state races reflect a much broader exploitation of phony voter-fraud claims by Republicans seeking all levels of elected office.

"That is ‘code red’ for democracy," she said in an interview.

Secretary-of-state candidates face primary elections next spring and summer and general elections on Nov. 8, 2022, along with the midterm congressional contests.

Reuters interviewed nine of the 15 declared Republican candidates for secretary of state in five battleground states -- Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada -- and reviewed public statements by all of the candidates. Ten of the 15 have either declared that the 2020 election was stolen or called for their state’s results to be invalidated or further investigated.

Only two of the nine candidates Reuters interviewed said that Biden won the election.

The group of 15 includes Brad Raffensperger, the Georgia secretary of state and the only incumbent Republican in the five battleground states who is seeking re-election. Raffensperger has consistently rejected Trump’s stolen-election allegations in the face of intense pressure from many fellow Republicans to overturn Biden’s win in the state.

Nearly all of the Republican contenders have stressed a need to curb mail-in voting, to limit ballot drop boxes and to take other steps to curtail ballot access. A majority said they backed a Republican push for more audits or other investigations of the 2020 vote, despite dozens of audits, recounts and court rulings that confirmed Biden’s victory.

Shawnna Bolick - an Arizona state representative and a Republican contender for state elections chief - has gone a step further. She proposed a law empowering the Arizona legislature, currently controlled by Republicans, to overrule the secretary of state’s certification of popular vote results. That call for a drastic change in how America chooses presidents comes after Trump’s unsuccessful attempt to get Republicans in states he lost to send electors for him instead of Biden to Congress. (See graphic on how the U.S. Electoral College works.)

Bolick said she intended to make certification “more democratic” and that her bill did not allow lawmakers to pick a winner.

Exclusive-Taliban names Afghan U.N. envoy, asks to speak to world leaders

By Michelle Nichols

3 MIN READ

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The Taliban have asked to address world leaders at the United Nations in New York this week and nominated their Doha-based spokesman Suhail Shaheen as Afghanistan’s U.N. ambassador, according to a letter seen by Reuters on Tuesday.

FILE PHOTO: Taliban spokesman?Suhail Shaheen leaves after a news conference in Moscow, Russia July 9, 2021. REUTERS/Tatyana Makeyeva
Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi made the request in a letter to U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday. Muttaqi asked to speak during the annual high-level meeting of the General Assembly, which finishes on Monday.

Guterres’ spokesperson, Farhan Haq, confirmed Muttaqi’s letter. The move sets up a showdown with Ghulam Isaczai, the U.N. ambassador in New York representing Afghanistan’s government ousted last month by the Taliban.

Haq said the rival requests for Afghanistan’s U.N. seat had been sent to a nine-member credentials committee, whose members include the United States, China and Russia. The committee is unlikely to meet on the issue before Monday, so it is doubtful that the Taliban foreign minister will address the world body.

Eventual U.N. acceptance of the ambassador of the Taliban would be an important step in the hardline Islamist group’s bid for international recognition, which could help unlock badly needed funds for the cash-strapped Afghan economy.

Guterres has said that the Taliban’s desire for international recognition is the only leverage other countries have to press for inclusive government and respect for rights, particularly for women, in Afghanistan.

The Taliban letter said Isaczai’s mission “is considered over and that he no longer represents Afghanistan,” said Haq.

Until a decision is made by the credentials committee Isaczai will remain in the seat, according to the General Assembly rules. He is currently scheduled to address the final day of the meeting on Sept. 27, but it was not immediately clear if any countries might object in the wake of the Taliban letter.

The committee traditionally meets in October or November to assess the credentials of all U.N. members before submitting a report for General Assembly approval before the end of the year. The committee and General Assembly usually operate by consensus on credentials, diplomats said.

Others members of the committee are the Bahamas, Bhutan, Chile, Namibia, Sierra Leone and Sweden.

When the Taliban last ruled between 1996 and 2001 the ambassador of the Afghan government they toppled remained the U.N. representative after the credentials committee deferred its decision on rival claims to the seat.

The decision was postponed “on the understanding that the current representatives of Afghanistan accredited to the United Nations would continue to participate in the work of the General Assembly,” according to the committee report.

Biden’s Big Submarine Pact Vindicates Britain’s Bet on Brexit

Editorial of The New York Sun
September 20, 2021

The uproar over America’s nuclear submarine deal with Britain and Australia is starting to look like a vindication of Brexit. We understand that some Germans are calling it a “declaration of war” on the European Union. And the petulant French are calling it a “stab in the back.” By our lights, though, things are moving in the direction we’d predicted — and hoped for — in endorsing Brexit from the beginning.

How the Europeans jeered at Britain’s decision to quit the European Union. The Europeans suggested Britain would end up alone, in national isolation. We argued that an independent Britain could look not only to its vast commonwealth — which includes Australia, of which Elizabeth is queen — but also America. And beyond that with such freedom countries as India, Free China, and Israel.

The submarine deal — known as AUKUS, after Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States — was announced a week ago. It commits America to helping Australia get nuclear submarines. It is widely perceived as aimed at Communist China (which would be one of its virtues). The French erupted, though, over mercantilist matters — the resulting cancellation of Australia’s $90 billion non-nuclear submarine deal with France.

I can’t stop myself from asking, really what are the big differences between Mr. Xi’s and Mr. Biden’s economic policy?

After all, Mr. Biden is campaigning against private enterprise. He doesn’t believe in market forces. He’s attempting to regulate every nook and cranny of the economy. He constantly talks about the need for more equality. He favors redistribution of income and wealth. Sound similar?

There’re only two major differences that I can find between the policies of Mr. Biden and those of Mr. Xi. First, Mr. Xi hasn’t raised taxes. And if Mr. Biden gets his way, the United States will have much higher business and investment taxes than the communist behemoth. and Second, Mr Biden doesn’t have a Mao suit. At least not yet.

President Biden doesn’t talk explicitly about socialism, but I’m with Newt Gingrich in describing Mr. Biden’s policies as big government socialism vs. free enterprise capitalism. Seriously, the economic similarities of the two presidents should give everyone some food for thought. Of course, the biggest difference is systemic: America is a democracy, a free country. China is certainly not.

I have no idea what Xi Jinping’s return to Maoist socialism means for the U.S.-China phase one free trade deal. I will note that the Chinese negotiator, Lieu He, a genuine market reformer, is on his way to retirement. Vice Premier Lieu, he became a friend of mine during our trade negotiations.

Yet when in June Mr. Xi pulled the DiDi $4.4 billion New York IPO, Mr. Liu was criticized for not stepping in earlier. Then he was forced to go through what the Chinese call “self-criticism” traditionally used by the Communist Party to discipline members. Self-criticism is a practice that Mao borrowed from Stalin and has come back into fashion in Mr. Xi’s China.

So that may be the biggest difference of all between Mssrs. Biden and Xi. Self-criticism is not Mr. Biden’s long suit. He never mentioned China in his speech yesterday at the United Nations. I have no idea whether he read, or is even aware of, the Xi-becomes-Mao front-page WSJ story. Nor am I confident that his top aides will even brief him on it.

One thing's for sure, though: China’s moving away from being a competitive adversary to an outright enemy. State-run economies under totalitarian regimes are a witches brew. And that’s my riff.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

This is why I support Sleepy Joe vs. Authoritarians like you.

French President Emmanuel Macron will send the country’s ambassador back to Washington next week, French and U.S. officials said, as the two countries sought to reset relations after a secret arms deal led to an ugly diplomatic rupture.
In a joint statement, itself a sign of easing tensions, Biden and Macron said they had spoken on the phone on Wednesday and agreed to meet in person at the end of October. Both are scheduled to attend the Group of 20 summit in Rome at that time.
Macron had recalled Ambassador Philippe Etienne to Paris in the days after the announcement that the United States had formed an alliance with Australia and the United Kingdom and that would allow Australia to purchase U.S. nuclear submarine technology. That deal effectively canceled an arrangement under which Australia had been set to purchase less capable French vessels, and prompted public outrage from French officials.
A joint statement by the two countries following Wednesday’s call suggested regret by the White House over the way the episode unfolded.
“The two leaders agreed that the situation would have benefited from open consultations among allies on matters of strategic interest to France and our European partners,” the statement said.
“President Biden conveyed his ongoing commitment in that regard.”

He's fixing a problem that he actually caused.

Real people admit errors.

Trump has never admitted errors.

Economic crisis news.

The Fed has insisted that the timing of a taper is not a “direct signal” on the timing of rate liftoff. But “dot plot” projections, which map out each of the 18 FOMC members’ expectations for where rates will be in coming years, suggest that the central bank is pulling forward its forecast for rate hikes.

In the last round of projections released in June, the median member of the FOMC saw no 25 basis point rate hikes through the end of 2022 but two rate hikes in 2023.

The updated forecast now has the committee split on rate hikes in 2022, with 9 members seeing the case for no rate hikes next year but the other 9 seeing the case for at least one hike. By the end of 2023, the median dot projects three to four total rate hikes.

Through the end of 2024, the median FOMC member sees six to seven total rate hikes.

The expectation to raise interest rates earlier coincides with higher expectations on inflation. Although the Fed stood pat on its expectation for rising price pressures to be “transitory,” the median FOMC member raised their forecast on PCE inflation to 4.2% this year (compared to 3.4% in June). The median member expects inflation to then fall to 2.2% in 2022. The Fed’s inflation target is 2%.

What came next brings horror to every reader. Rather than receive posts of unvaccinated deaths for their story, thousands of real FaceBook users posted sad tales of how they had lost loved ones after they took Covid vaccines.

The responses from real are really so many and so horrible, we wish we were making this up!

The stories were similar to that of Texas’ Ernest Ramirez, who recently lost his son after a serious adverse reaction to the vaccine.

WOW, lots of stories from people losing loved ones after getting the vaccine.

guess there are two sides to this story

This isn't a lie.

Biden’s performance was akin to an aging rock star playing a medley from their greatest hits album.

Biden encouraged global cooperation on issues including climate change and prevention of the next pandemic. He vowed to not let Iran develop a nuclear weapon and offered his support for the two-state solution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He denounced corruption as a “threat to national security” and vowed to support human rights around the world.

What is wrong about this President???

He's not Trump in your mind Scott.

Gee Roger...

I could encourage global cooperation as well. Fat lot of good it would do anyone if I have no actual concrete plan or if nobody is willing to listen to me. Nobody, and I mean nobody on the international level is listening to Slow Joe right now. They are probably updating their office pool for when he is replaced.

This is extremely simple here Roger. A huge difference between liberals and conservatives. You love "rhetoric" and conservatives like me actually prefer tangible action.

Biden offers no plan. He just gives a speech with no substance.
Trump offered plans. But he tweeted stuff you didn't like.

You care less about what Presidents do (which is why it's no problem when Biden gets 13 American military people killed and flat out murders a family of Afghanis because he wanted to look tough). THe country is falling into a tailspin right now and you are okay with it... as long as Biden provides some sort of speech (which of course he took no questions after giving).

Me... I couldn't care fucking less what Biden says or what Trump said. I only care about what they did. One of them is ruining this country and cannot be bothered to even take a question about any of it. THe other was willing to take action and accept the criticism and stand up and answer questions about his actions.

I beg to differ. ALL of the countries who expect the US to pay for THEIR vaccines are listening intently.

In addition, Israel is listening intently, and I'm sure is not pleased to learn that Jew-hating, Hamas caucus democrats killed their Iron Dome funding.

China, Russia, and Iran are also listening BIGLY. Each listening for their own advantage, their own angle, and their own leverage. And while they're listening to Slow Joe they're talking amongst themselves. They're clear on the fact that they have nothing to fear from the US. We fucked up a single solitary drone strike in Afghanistan for chrissakes. They know that the "over the horizon" military capability bullshit that we're peddling is a bluff.

Our allies cannot trust us and our enemies salivate at the prospect of fucking with us at their leisure.

One of the guys in my deer hunting crew turned 80 yesterday. With a right knee replacement behind him he'll be hiking the mountain with us this November.
