Democrats having a problem looking like a competent group of leaders who should be running the country

When the best you can do is spin rumor and supposition into something positive, you have issues

Who is your favorite Democrat

pollcode.com free polls

So what is happening in that Virginia governor race is indicative (I believe) in what is happening right now across the country. Instead of Democrats cruising to victory in a race that they should be up double digits in, they are having to scratch and claw to come up with positive spin to provide.

This morning, for instance, Democrats are ignoring the FOX News poll showing Youngkin pulling away and citing a Washington Post poll that still shows McAuliffe ahead by a point. Yes, a point! That is what they are excited about and spinning as good news. But a closer look at the poll shows something different. Something hidden in the details that Democrats seem to want to hide these days.

The Washington Post poll top line was surprisingly similar to the results that they showed last month. This is surprising because most every other poll has shown significant movement. In fact, the Washington Post poll does show Youngkin with a massive improvement with Independent voters since the last poll and slight improvement for Youngkin in the other demographics  But that improvement didn't seem to matter to the top line. But alas, as it generally is, it comes down to the makeup of the sample. In their September poll, the breakdown was lower in Democrats and heavier in Independent voters. In the October poll, the number of Democrats was considerably higher and the number of Independents was considerably lower. They basically just surveyed more Democrats and less Independents and thus, kept their topline similar to where it had been.

Now, obviously we do not know how Virginia will play out. There is early voting going on, which McAuliffe by all accounts holds an advantage with. But there is also suggestions out of both camps that his advantage is not what many expected it to be. Either way, this race is likely to be close and McAuliffe already has hired Marc Elias (a notable liberal election attorney) who no doubt is there to challenge the results if Youngkin pulls this off.

Either way, this has been a struggle. Democrats should be cruising right now and it feels like everything they do is a trudge through 12 inches of wet mud.

American Thinker believes that Harris was placed as the Vice President in order to invoke the 25th amendment. With Al Sharpton did it.

It has to be remembered that Kamala became the V.P. despite not winning a single state during the primary, which included her home state.  She clearly has very little appeal even among her Democrat voters.

The only reason Biden's handlers chose Kamala is that they saw in her someone who was so inept, unlikable, and amateurish that she made Biden appear amiable and brighter and hence unimpeachable.

Recently, there have been reports that Kamala is unhappy not to have all-star portfolios and of being told to fix the border crisis.

Kamala also appears to be putting some distance between herself and Biden, who is suffering from record-low poll numbers.  It has also been observed that Biden and Harris had 38 events together in February while just 7 in October.

The question remains: is Sharpton merely seeking publicity, or is there something more afoot?

Whenever any remarks emanate from the likes of Sharpton out of the blue, the question that must always be asked is, why now?

The easy answer is to grab some headlines.

But another possible explanation is that Kamala's handlers see the myriad failures of the Biden administration and are looking to find a way for Kamala to shirk all blame and responsibility.

By asking to see Kamala used more effectively and put on the forefront, Sharpton is also saying she doesn't have much to do in the administration, hence she is not to blame for the various crises.

Sharpton may be laying the foundation for Kamala to claim she was not assigned any top profiles or she was set up to fail because of her race.

It is not beyond the realm of possibility that it will be claimed much later that she wasn't allowed the freedom to handle the border crisis, which is why she failed.  Kamala may even make the charge of misogyny.

There have been rumors that plans are being laid by some in the White House to get rid of Kamala.  Sharpton's remarks could be seen as a coded threat to Biden — i.e., "If you even think of removing her, I'm just waiting to play the race card and destroy you."

Perhaps Sharpton has been promised something major in the future Harris administration on the condition that he make noise about Kamala?

We will never know.  However, in all this political skullduggery and instability, and with myriad never-before-seen crises plaguing the nation, its future seems more uncertain than a kite flying in a cyclone.

All you have are conspiracy theories...

The President has a real problem with independent voters. Both parties have been losing numbers.

He inherited the worst crisis in history and he has not always done the right thing even why I still support him.

If the infrastructure bill passes next week, in three years from now, nobody can predict the landslide for Kerry.

LMAO

We will assume this word salad is an autocorrect problem, huh?

But either way, the bipartisan infrastructure bill is fairly popular, but people are not just going to give Biden credit for it. No more than they gave Trump credit for passing the 2.6 trillion in Covid relief.

This is all going to boil down to how much is in that reconciliation "build back better" fiasco. That has less overall support and in three years, if we are still seeing huge Trillion dollar plus deficits because of it, Biden will be blamed for not keeping his fiscal house in order.

Trump was damaged by the large deficits we had built up over his last two years. Over 5.5 trillion in deficits over four years did not help Trump's cause and Biden is likely on pace to pass that up in three, if not just two years.

These things matter. There is no free lunch and when people get stuck with the "bill" for all of these "goodies" that Democrats are obviously attempting to buy votes with, then the shit will hit the fan.

Our economy will tank if we continue to run multi-trillion dollar deficits. In fact, it will get extremely ugly at some point. That point might be in the next three years.

Well Roger with all due respect if I was planning a 25th amendment coup, I would pick a successor who can do the job.

If the Democrats fail to pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill (that most people want) because they couldn't agree on the socialist reconciliation bill (which most people don't want) then the Democrats mid term debacle will be epic.

speaking of word salad.....

But what I've heard is precisely the opposite if I am reading this right. Nobody would want to take Biden out because that would make Harris president. And she would be worse than Biden.

But she is Obama's pick.

Looks like the knives are going to be coming out between the pro-Harris and anti-Harris wings of the democrat party.

Just like the knives between the "moderate" and progressive wings

Jan. 6 Committee expands reach – now interviewing rioters who stormed the Capitol

David Badash, The New Civil Rights Movement

October 29, 2021

The U.S. House Committee on the January 6 Attack is expanding the reach of its investigation to include interviewing rioters who were among the thousands who breached the Capitol during that deadly day.

On Friday afternoon the Committee will interview remotely one of the 650 charged in the January 6 attack.

Politico describes the interview as "part of an attempt to collect evidence about the rioters' motivations, contacts and travel arrangements."

An attorney representing multiple Jan. 6 defendants also arranged for the Committee to interview another defendant, not one of her clients, "who claimed to have information related to associates of Alex Jones, the far right broadcaster who helped promote pro-Trump election conspiracy theories."

That attorney, Heather Shaner, tells Politico another of her clients has already spoken to the Committee and still another has offered too.

"The committee," Politico adds, "was set to hold closed-door interviews Friday with Amy and Kylie Kremer, a mother-daughter duo whom committee investigators believed were part of organizing Trump's rally at the Ellipse. But a committee aide confirmed the depositions were postponed amid ongoing talks."

Politico

Republicans started the year watching the Senate slip away in Georgia — and fretting that Donald Trump’s takeover of the party was so complete that the base wouldn’t show up for them without Trump himself on the ballot.

Now, those fears have largely evaporated.

Republicans hold an enormous edge in enthusiasm that could make the difference in the upcoming Virginia governor’s race, according to both public and private polling. What’s most notable in Virginia is that it’s Glenn Youngkin — a candidate who accepted Trump’s endorsement but has held the former president at arm’s length during the campaign — who stands to benefit from the electrified GOP base, which is instead animated by President Joe Biden’s sagging ratings and Democrats’ total control in Washington and Richmond.

“The disheartened-ness that I saw following the November election and leading into the Georgia Senate runoff — people saying, ‘What’s the point in voting?’ — that’s shaken off,” said Wren Williams, a GOP nominee for a state legislative seat in southwest Virginia, who defeated a seven-term Republican incumbent for the nomination for not being sufficiently pro-Trump.

Youngkin throws cold water on Trump visit to Virginia

Strong turnout next Tuesday among Republicans, especially rural and exurban voters, could be the first major evidence that Trump backers won’t stay home in 2022, when the GOP aims to retake the House and Senate. The big question in Virginia is whether enthusiastic Republicans are enough to conquer the arithmetic of the state. There are simply more Democrats than Republicans in Virginia now, and Democratic nominee Terry McAuliffe, with an assist this week from Biden, has worked hard to tie Youngkin to Trump in order to light up his own base.

Unless McAuliffe gets the same situation in Northern Virginia, he is in trouble.

Race for Virginia Governor Is a Toss Up
10:04 am EDT

A new Washington Post-Schar School poll in Virginia finds Terry McAuliffe (D) just ahead of Glenn Youngkin (R) in the race for governor among likely voters, 49% to 48%.

“Youngkin is fueled by an 18-point advantage among independent likely voters, up from an eight-point advantage last month — a significant swing in a group that could determine the election’s outcome.”

Election Day is next Tuesday and one of the closest races to watch is the Virginia governor’s race between Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Glenn Youngkin. While McAuliffe has remained consistently in the lead, the race is now narrowing. A recent Emerson College/Nexstar Media poll shows a tied race with 49 percent of likely voters supporting McAuliffe and 49 percent of likely voters supporting Youngkin. FiveThirtyEight’s polling average of the Virginia race now has McAuliffe at 47.6 percent and Youngkin at 46.1 percent.

Who will Younkin hire to dispute the election results?
