Consider that police are not allowed to arrest a shoplifter who steals less than $950 or arrest minorities without calling first for backup...

But how many cops are at this Burger King to arrest a family who were not carrying a vaccination passport? I guess when you are not allowed to arrest actual criminals, apparently they have nothing better to do than scare little children?

Roger....

Do you understand what "extreme" even means?

An extreme view would be the opposite of a mainstream view.

For example. Your "strong" believe that there was no election cheating is an "extreme" view because it is only held by 21% of the population. The "mainstream" view would be the 59% who accept that cheating and fraud were part of that election.

On the flipside, the views on vaccination passports are relatively even in terms of polling and fairly partisan in nature. There are no real "extreme" views from the standpoint of any definition.

67 degrees in Alaska? Climate change continues to topple temperature records.

On Sunday, the temperature in Kodiak, Alaska, hit 67 degrees Fahrenheit, setting a December record-high for a state that has become used to them as climate change continues to rewrite history.

The temperature readings in Kodiak did not merely edge out some previous record by a degree or two; the 65 degrees reported at the airport was 20 degrees higher than the previous high temperature record of 45 degrees set on Dec. 26, 1984, the National Weather Service reported.

Hey... I am not the one downplaying Omicron. That would be Biden, Fauci and others who don't want to believe that even more people will die because of their inadequate response.

I am the one pointing out that the most infected areas are New York, DC, and several other liberal blue states... and that people are still dying by the 1000's.

You are the one defending the President even though more people are dying on his watch than died on Trump's.

A federal judge on Tuesday refused to dismiss an indictment charging four alleged leaders of the far-right Proud Boys with conspiring to attack the U.S. Capitol to stop Congress from certifying President Joe Biden's electoral victory.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly rejected defense attorneys' arguments that the four men — Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl and Charles Donohoe — are charged with conduct that is protected by the First Amendment right to free speech.

Kelly said the defendants had many nonviolent ways to express their opinions about the 2020 presidential election.

“Defendants are not, as they argue, charged with anything like burning flags, wearing black armbands, or participating in mere sit-ins or protests," Kelly wrote in his 43-page ruling. “Moreover, even if the charged conduct had some expressive aspect, it lost whatever First Amendment protection it may have had."

Nordean, Biggs, Rehl and Donohoe were indicted in March on charges including conspiracy and obstructing an official proceeding that they will indict Trump. All four of them remain jailed while they await a trial scheduled for May.

ONE YEAR LATER, NEW UMASS AMHERST POLL FINDS CONTINUED NATIONAL POLITICAL DIVISION OVER THE JAN. 6 ATTACK ON THE U.S. CAPITOL

With 71% of Republicans viewing Joe Biden’s victory as illegitimate, they largely defend those who stormed the Capitol to disrupt his electoral certification

Tatishe Nteta

One year after thousands of supporters of former President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to protest and disrupt the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election, the results of a new national  University of Massachusetts Amherst Poll released today show 71% of Republicans – and one-third of the nation – continue to believe that Biden’s victory was illegitimate, and that Republicans continue to blame Democrats, Antifa and the Capitol Police for the events of Jan. 6. They also oppose both the continuation of law enforcement efforts to prosecute the rioters and attempts to learn more about what happened that day.

The poll of 1,000 respondents found that only 58% of Americans believe that Biden’s electoral victory was legitimate, with more than a fifth (22%) saying that it was “definitely not legitimate,” numbers nearly identical to an April 2021 UMass Amherst Poll (59% / 24%). Only one-fifth of Republicans (21%) view Biden’s victory as legitimate.

“Given the continued questioning of Biden’s victory by prominent Republican elected officials, conservative media personalities and former President Trump, it is no surprise that 7 in 10 Republicans, conservatives and Trump voters view the results of the 2020 election with skepticism, if not outright disbelief,” says Tatishe Nteta, associate professor of political science at UMass Amherst and director of the poll. “However, overall American opinion on the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election has remained steady since April, as close to 6 in 10 Americans view Biden’s victory as legitimate.”

“Public officials need to shore up faith in how we vote,” says Raymond La Raja, professor of political science at UMass Amherst and associate director of the poll. “The top reason voters don’t think Biden’s victory was legitimate has to do with belief in fraud – 83% of the poll’s respondents cited fraudulent ballots being counted by election officials to help Biden win in several states. Roughly the same percentage – 81% – claim that absentee ballots from dead people also helped him. Meanwhile, 76% blamed non-citizens and other ineligible voters who cast ballots. These are extremely worrisome perceptions, and improved faith in the electoral process won’t happen until Republicans stop saying the election was stolen.”

Roger...

So there is one poll that says 60% of Americans believe cheating played a part in Biden's win and there is another that says less than 60% believe Biden's election was even legitimate.

Add the two together, multiply by all of the media demands of the "most secure election ever" and you have some stubborn beliefs that things in 2020 were not on the up and up.

Perhaps instead of running around like a crazy person screaming at the top of your lungs about conspiracies and scary Republicans hiding under your bed... you could perhaps stop to think that there is a reason for all of the questions and that those reasons are not something that can be explained away with "rhetoric" about how this was "the most secure election ever".

Seriously... would the "most secure election ever" have one county where independent auditors found 50,000 legally questionable ballots that were counted anyways? Would we have video evidence of election officials destroying evidence after learning that they might be audited if this was the most secure election ever? Would we have the sort of crazy anomalies that we had if this was the "most secure election ever"?

I have been following (very closely) elections since 2004 and I can assure you that this was the most problematic election we have ever seen with crazy statistical anomalies that never happened in previous elections. You literally had to toss out all of the election projection logic (which worked in every election before and is back working fine in subsequent elections).

From 2004 to 2018 we never had a Governor change laws, we never had secretary of states order workers to ignore laws, we never had individual counties decide to sidestep laws...but we saw all of that and more in 2020, Roger.

We didn't see anything like that in 2016. Not a single state surprised anyone with strange counts in the middle of the night like we saw in several states in 2020.

Harry M. Reid, a Nevada Democrat who rose from a hardscrabble mining town to become one of the longest-serving Senate majority leaders in history and a political force during the presidencies of George W. Bush and Barack Obama, died Dec. 28 at his home in Henderson, Nev. He was 82.
The death was confirmed by David Krone, a former chief of staff. Mr. Reid was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2018.
A combative but soft-spoken former amateur boxer, Mr. Reid displayed an economy of personal magnetism and embraced the art of the scrappy insult. Columnist Molly Ivins called him “charismatically challenged.” Obama, a friend and political ally, euphemistically remarked on his “curmudgeonly charm.”
Mr. Reid was never a commanding presence before a crowd or on television. Sometimes he was barely audible, and he tended to litter his speeches with awkward pauses. But he was the consummate inside player, exercising his political and legislative skills behind the scenes.
He was Senate majority leader from 2007 through 2014. Since the position’s creation in the 1920s, only two senators have held it longer: Democrats Mike Mansfield of Montana, from 1961 through 1976, and Alben W. Barkley of Kentucky, from 1937 through 1946.
After overcoming long odds to achieve political leadership, Mr. Reid was not one to apologize for being who he was.

Trump is a murderer

By August 2020, Dr. Deborah Birx made it known that she had hit her limit.

The Trump administration’s COVID-19 response coordinator, Birx had been asked to attend a COVID-19 roundtable event with some of the country’s leading advocates of the so-called “herd immunity” approach — figures that included neuroradiologist Scott Atlas, and Great Barrington Declaration authors Jay Bhattacharya and Martin Kulldorff.

The theory pushed by those at the planned Aug. 25 roundtable held that the U.S. should focus on keeping COVID-19 out of long-term care facilities, leaving the virus to spread through the rest of the population until it had nobody left to infect. The Trump administration, with leadership absent during the preceding six months and the death toll approaching 180,000, alternated between grasping for a way to stem the economic impact of the pandemic and cracking down on federal officials who spoke honestly about the toll.

According to the latest reports, Kamala Harris seems to have climbed in the polls and now has a higher approval rating than Joe Biden.

Harris currently stands at 44% approval while Biden is at 43% approval so it is a narrow margin, and these numbers could be propaganda numbers—just like the overall approval rating for Congress.

I suspect that their true approval ratings are actually much lower, but that is neither here nor there.

What makes these reports significant is that Joe Biden has been a massive failure and there have been whispers that his own party wants him out…

They cannot do this of course if the other option is even more hated than he is, so the idea is that they want to wait until Kamala Harris has a higher approval rating than him to remove him via 25th Amendment.

These reports are further bolstered by the fact that Harris met with Hillary Clinton recently…

The government is putting chips into your luggage when you fly

American airlines had resisted installing metal detectors in airports, worried that treating Americans like common criminals to board a plane would wreck their burgeoning industry. But that threat of nuclear attack, and the 130 other hijackings between 1968 and 1972, convinced the government to take a stand at last. In 1973, the FAA used its bureaucratic and administrative powers to make passenger screening mandatory. In 1974, Congress validated the requirement, ignoring passenger rights’ groups that protested the intrusive screening of luggage and persons in order to board aircraft.

There is an important lesson here: Once the modern American state imposes surveillance measures it never relaxes them, even when the threat no longer exists. That’s why, even after American troops have left Afghanistan, Osama Bin Laden was killed, and ISIS has been destoyed, Americans are still removing their shoes in airports, treated like would-be terrorists for traveling. The humiliating X-ray machines that force grandmothers, children, and ordinary businessmen alike to stand like felons with their hands up while probing machines attempt to peek under their clothes at their naked bodies is the height of ritual humiliation.

The seeming elimination of this surveillance network’s reason to exist doesn’t mean these leftover policies of the war on terrorism are over—far from it! My children and grandchildren, barring some dramatic political shift, will be subject to the same post-9/11 security measures I grew up with.

The bureaucratic state moves in one direction—it always gets bigger, more powerful, and more entrenched. There is never any reversal of state power, even when the threats that seemingly necessitated government interference in the first place are gone.

COVID will follow the same course. The attention and energy the regime gives to the illness will wax and wane but it will never disappear entirely. The biomedical security state created in the virus’ wake is here to stay. Ten years from now, for instance, discussion about boosters, vaccine efficacy, health checks, asymptomatic spread, and “flattening the curve” will still be part of our national discourse, permanently ingrained in our collective psyche by the innumerable bureaucracies, corporations, and media entities that see in this “global health crisis” a never-ending potential for grift.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

At a psychological level, liberals gravitate to despotic surveillance measures. Liberalism is a feminine tyranny. Like a neurotic mother trying to protect her toddler from every possible pain, the liberal longs for a world without any possibility of danger. The padded cell with every risk and inconvenience removed is her paradise.

A diverse, androgenous, inhuman, impersonal mode of being without any kind of blood or ancestral ties—this is the vision—John Lennon’s “Imagine” made flesh! If you want to understand the leftist mind just look at their art. The flat, childish, soul-dead, primary color laden, “inclusive” cartoon-style that virtually every major corporation gravitates to in order to market their products. I call this art form “liberal surrealism” and like all art, it reveals the soul. Or, in this case, the absence of one.

The spiritual inclination toward weakness and ugliness explains why, in the face of all rational decision-making, leftists collectively decided that closing schools, cutting off the elderly from the outside world, and crushing small businesses were the only ways to stop the illness. There was never any concern for the possible social, economic, or political side-effects. In fact, those very pains and challenges made the draconian social measures all the more enticing.

Crisis gives our decrepit, aging, and ideologically fanatical ruling class something to live for. COVID is just one more narcotic with which to fill the God-shaped hole in the liberal heart. Like any good religion it has its prophets (Fauci) its villains (the unvaccinated) and its own demand for ritual sacrifice—in this case, of the young. And like all religions, it does not tolerate heretics.

The crackdown on the unvaccinated reveals how deep and rotten the liberal instincts have become. Joe Biden’s pre-Christmas message promising a “winter of death” explains exactly who these people are. The Biden regime will never declare victory over COVID. There will be no return to the way things were. In 2020, World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said as much: There will be no return to the “old normal.” That is why the World Economic Forum was already hawking the slogan “build back better” in the summer of last year.

Whether the COVID response was a product of a global conspiracy or not is irrelevant. The ruling class of the world is already on the same spiritual sheet of music. They all want the same thing—the reduction of the world into one homogenous, undifferentiated mass that they can shake down for the foreseeable future. The destruction of all higher life, all aspiration, all real science, and all real human community is what these people mean by “democracy” and “human rights.”

If there is to be any freedom for Americans from the techno-medical despotism spreading across the world, it will require either a supreme act of statesmanship or cataclysm. And by cataclysm I don’t mean another hyperventilating media-driven “crisis” like COVID. Financial collapse, famine, and war might finally liberate us from the rule of the spiritual hysterics and grifters who currently run the world.

That is a tough “black pill” to swallow. But, in human life, every black pill is also a white pill. Every abyss is a chance at rebirth. Like the phoenix rising from the flames of the cleansing fire, new possibilities can emerge out of moments of profound terror and death.

This is a problem, of course. No one prays to live through Armageddon. It would be better if we could have a life of liberty and peace without terror and crisis. But that requires a fighting spirit and a willingness to push back against the administrative tyranny that rings round all of modern life.

The West isn’t too far gone. Not yet. But we need leaders willing to fight. Let us pray that we find such men.

Grim news

Updated Dec. 29, 2021, 3:09 AM PST
By Chantal Da Silva and Reuters
The United States, Britain, France, Australia and other countries are shattering records for daily reported coronavirus cases as the highly transmissible omicron upended hopes of a return to some version of normality in parts of the world.

On Tuesday, the U.S. hit a record 7-day case average of 262,034 cases, eclipsing a past 252,776-case record set on Jan. 11, according to an NBC News data analysis. (The data can be skewed by days with anomalous data entries, which are common around the holiday period.)

In all, 1.8 million cases were reported in the U.S. last week, however, representing a 69.3 percent increase compared to the week before.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, omicron accounted for 58.6 percent of all Covid cases in the U.S. in the week ending on Dec. 25, while the delta variant accounted for 41.1 percent of cases.

At least 5 GOP-led states offer jobless benefits to workers who refuse vaccines; others may follow
Critics say the rule changes punish businesses that are trying to avert covid flareups and undermine the White House’s pandemic response.

Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson (R), as seen last month at the statehouse in Topeka. GOP lawmakers in the state pressed to secure unemployment benefits for people who lose their jobs because they do not want to get a coronavirus vaccination. (John Hanna/AP)
By Aaron Gregg
December 27, 2021 at 6:00 a.m. EST

At least five Republican-led states have extended unemployment benefits to people who’ve lost jobs over vaccine mandates — and a smattering of others may soon follow.
Workers who quit or are fired for cause — under which defying company policy would qualify — are generally ineligible for jobless benefits. But Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Kansas and Tennessee have carved out exceptions for those who won’t submit to the multi-shot coronavirus vaccine regimens that many businesses now require. Similar ideas have been floated in Wyoming, Wisconsin and Missouri.
Critics contend these states are incentivizing people to skip shots that public health experts say offer the best protection against a virus that has killed more than 800,000 Americans. Business leaders and industry groups have argued against the change because, they say, companies end up shouldering the costs. And the efforts are playing out as the Biden administration is pressing immunization rules for private companies and as coronavirus cases are surging again because of the fast-spreading omicron variant.

Why Grim. And why not return to normality when we are dealing with a variety of the virus who’s symptoms are not much more severe than the common code.

Two things are certain.

1. The omicron variety will spread no matter what we do. (Given the symptoms it produces, it may not be necessarily a bad thing.)

2. There will be unreasonable fear and hysteria that those in power to further erode liberty.

The thing that bothers me the most is people’s selfish decision not to get vaccinated and the failure to see how this affects a greater group of people. That’s the part that’s really difficult to swallow.

The Japanese may have saved the world!

Researchers in Tokyo are developing a “dream” COVID-19 vaccine that offers lifetime efficacy, in what would be a game-changer as the fight against the coronavirus drags on into its third year.

At a time when it appears most COVID-19 vaccines will require periodic boosters due to a decline in recipients' antibody levels, the creation of a vaccine with lifetime efficacy could lead to huge financial savings globally and give the world an upper hand against the coronavirus, which has infected more than 270 million people and claimed more than 5 million lives around the world.

Soon after the pandemic began, in early 2020, Michinori Kohara, emeritus investigator at the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Science, wondered if it was possible to develop a vaccine based on the tried and tested smallpox vaccine — which helped the world eradicate the deadly disease. The vaccinia virus used in the smallpox vaccine is a subject he has worked on for over three decades, and Kohara knows firsthand how significant a vaccine that gives strong protection for life can be.

The smallpox vaccine was developed by British doctor Edward Jenner in 1796 to counter the infectious disease, which had an extremely high mortality rate. In Japan, there has been no patients since 1956 and the government's periodical vaccination ended in late 1970s. The vaccine remains the only shot that has successfully eradicated an infectious disease, with the last known case being a patient in Somalia in 1977 after a coordinated global vaccination campaign by the World Health Organization.

So in April 2020, Kohara, in cooperation with the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, started developing a recombinant vaccinia virus containing the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19. They picked the nonpathogenic strain of the vaccinia virus variant called DIs, which works as an extremely effective and safe viral vector for delivering the SARS-CoV-2 spike gene.

While the messenger RNA COVID-19 vaccines developed by Pfizer Inc.-BioNTech SE and Moderna Inc. have been successful in preventing severe illness and death, neutralizing antibodies fall significantly over six months after vaccination, making boosters necessary — particularly against the omicron variant.

In contrast, the vaccine that Kohara is spearheading can produce potent neutralizing antibodies within a week of inoculation and induce the strongest cellular immunity of any vaccine, he says. That would be significant as none of the currently available COVID-19 vaccines appear to offer long-term protection.

Experiments on mice using the recombinant vaccinia virus encoding the highly pathogenic avian flu HA gene have shown high antibody levels that were maintained for more than 20 months, or nearly the average life span of a mouse, and all vaccinated mice infected with the avian flu 20 months post-vaccination survived. In contrast, the unvaccinated mice all died.

The President had nothing to do about this!

Scientists around the world have been working on this possible cure since it started in China.

In alky's "bottom up" Biden-omics, everyone gets fucked, from those on the bottom on up...

The Wall Street Journal has seen the first pricing notification memo from Kraft-Heinz food group to the buying offices of major U.S. retailers. Here’s how the WSJ presents it: “Kraft Heinz Co. told retailer customers that it would raise prices across many of its products including Jell-O pudding and Grey Poupon mustard, with some items going up as much as 20%, according to a memo viewed by The Wall Street Journal.”

The defense department is working on a similar vaccine. It gives widespread protection over all forms of COVID-19 for a lifetime. I imagined ne they are using a similar methodology to develop their vaccine.

Wouldn’t get your hopes up. Human trials may take longer the the original vaccine simply because you are using T-Cells. More patients have to be part of the trial. Especially African-Americans who were missing from the last trial.

Then you have issues of license and distribution on a scale as the original vaccine.

That’s where Trump’s experience and talent as a business came into play.

I doubt Biden can accomplish the same thing.
