Obviously Democrats are upset with Joe Manchin wanting honesty and transparency in the BBB agenda and not being on board with a bill that uses accounting gimmicks to hide the true cost. Looks like BBB is a no go for 2021 at the very least, and might be completely done unless Democrats are willing to really make some wholescale changes to it.
So in the wake of the temporary (at least) death of the build back dumber bill, the Democrats were hoping to shame Manchin into agreeing to use a one time lifting of the filibuster to pass the incredibly stupid and unpopular voting rights bill designed to undermine the necessary and quite popular state voting bills that are being passed left and right after the 2020 fiasco.
Well not only has Manchin provided push back, but apparently Democrats forgot about the other Senator who is not a lock step member of the Democratic crazy herd. Kyrsten Sinema stepped up to remind everyone that she is "also" against any changes to the filibuster, and most certainly appears less likely than Manchin to allow for a one time exception for what is possibly one of the dumbest and mind-boggling senseless bills we have seen for some time.
Times are tough for Democrats right now. Their time in power is coming to a close and everyone knows it. They are hoping to put some unpopular legislation in place as a going away present, but they cannot even seem to figure that out.

I actually remember this. Nixon knew that the election had been stolen. Why aren't you like Nixon in 1960??
When modern-day Visigoths sacked the Capitol on Jan. 6, I recalled a story that former Virginia Republican Sen. John Warner told me about Richard Nixon’s concession in 1960.
Warner’s story came to mind again this week with the release of chilling Jan. 6 text messages sent to Mark Meadows, Donald Trump’s last chief of staff, as the mobs were roaming the Capitol searching for Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi.
Warner, who died at age 94 in May, was an advance man to Nixon during his 1960 race against John F. Kennedy. And when he told me this tale over lunch in 2018, I realized that I was hearing from the last living participant in these events.
With the 1960 election still unsettled in the middle of the night, Nixon had told supporters in Los Angeles, “If the present trend continues, Sen. Kennedy will be the next president of the United States.” It was neither a concession nor a roar of defiance.
The next morning, as Warner recalled, Nixon had become increasingly troubled listening to radio reports that world capitals were unsettled over the mystery surrounding the identity of the next president. With the Cold War raging, Nixon decided to formally end the uncertainty by conceding.
Before he boarded his chartered plane to Washington, Nixon sent a gracious telegram to Kennedy, stating, “I know you will have the united support of all Americans as you lead this nation in the cause of peace and freedom.”
The 1960 election was arguably the closest election in the last century, aside from the deadlocked 2000 race. Kennedy’s margin in the Electoral College was based on narrow victories in two states with a checkered history of honest vote-counting — Illinois, dominated by Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, and Lyndon Johnson’s Texas.
On Jan. 6, 1961, Nixon, as vice president, presided over the formal counting of the electoral votes that guaranteed his defeat. As he said on the Senate floor, “In our campaigns, no matter how hard they may be, no matter how close the election, those who lose accept the verdict and support those who win.”
I never thought I would ever type these words, but I am serious about them: Whatever happened to the honorable America personified by Richard Nixon?
Obviously, there have been other painful moments for sitting vice presidents as the electoral votes were tallied. Think of Al Gore playing the Nixon role in 2001. Or Joe Biden, as vice president, having to certify Donald Trump’s 2016 victory.
In my more than four decades covering national politics, I never imagined that I would witness a concerted White House effort to overturn the results of a valid election.
But unfortunately you will not change your mind.

We are at a turning point.
The election in Illinois was rigged. Dead people voted like you keep saying today, despite there is no credible evidence of fraud or dead people votes in sufficient numbers to reverse the election results.
The Mayor of Chicago was a criminal.
H.R. 1 is blatantly unconstitutional and ripe for immediate challenge.
You don't just pass sweeping legislation that completely usurps state authority over elections.
This is a desperate power grab by a desperate and flailing party with no way to win legitimately and without sleight of hand.
You are a lock step member of the Trumpian crazy herd.
Biden also remains the least popular of the 14 polling-era presidents at this point, 330 days into his presidency, except for Donald Trump, who was dead last for most of his first year and close to last during most of his presidency. The good news for Biden is that he’s now closer to the tier ahead of him — Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford and Harry Truman — than he is to Trump
Jimmy Hitler Jr. Is a white supremacist.
The current assault on voting rights across the country underscores the urgency of reform. Even though our democratic institutions survived an attempt to overturn the result of the 2020 election, unscrupulous state legislators have seized on the disinformation that fueled this attempt to introduce an alarming number of regressive bills aimed at restricting access to the ballot, including by sharply restricting access to mail ballots, cutting back on early voting, and slashing voter registration opportunities. To date, more than 360 bills to restrict voting access have been proposed in 47 states. These measures target and will disproportionately harm voters of color, young voters, and voters with disabilities. In Georgia, for instance, a recent Brennan Center analysis found that proposed bills to cut Sunday early voting and mail-voting access would burden Black voters most.
But here is the good news: we know what we need to do to address these problems and strengthen American democracy. It starts with passing the For the People Act. The Act incorporates key measures that are urgently needed, including automatic voter registration and other steps to modernize our elections; a national guarantee of free and fair elections without voter suppression, coupled with a commitment to restore the full protections of the Voting Rights Act; small donor public financing to empower ordinary Americans instead of big donors (at no cost to taxpayers) and other critical campaign finance reforms; an end to partisan gerrymandering; and a much-needed overhaul of federal ethics rules. Critically, the Act would thwart virtually every vote suppression bill currently pending in the states.
These reforms respond directly to Americans’ desire for real solutions that ensure that each of us can have a voice in the decisions that govern our lives, as evidenced by their passage in many states, often by lopsided bipartisan margins. They are especially critical for communities of color. Racial justice cannot be fully achieved without a system in which all Americans have the means to advocate for themselves and exercise political power.
As President Biden remarked in his inaugural address: democracy is precious, but democracy is also fragile. The 2020 election revealed a passionate commitment to democracy on the part of tens of millions of Americans who braved a deadly pandemic, voter suppression, and a concerted campaign of presidential lies to make their voices heard. On March 3, the House of Representatives honored that commitment by passing the Act in its entirety. Now, the Senate and the president must also fulfill their promise to secure representative democracy in America now and for future generations.
Ending racial gerrymandering will give the people their right to choose their leaders. The foundation of the United States of America.
The President has changed his mind about HR 1.
The White House has been considering connecting the voting rights drive with the upcoming first anniversary of the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, making the case that the most sacred tenant of America’s democracy remains under siege one year after the insurrection fueled by the election fraud lies told by former President Donald Trump.
To strongly make that case, the president and his team had been hoping to clear the legislative deck by the Jan. 6 anniversary. But the president’s social spending bill, known as the Build Back Better Act, appears stalled for the foreseeable future in the Senate, with Manchin’s refusal to commit to the $1.75 trillion legislation seemingly certain to push the measure into early 2022.
Biden signaled on Wednesday that he’d be fine with prioritizing election reform for the time being, saying: “If we can get the congressional voting rights done, we should do it. … There’s nothing domestically more important than voting rights.”

Sorry Roger...
But you have to ask yourself why Democrats are so ingrained and desperate to attempt to Federalize the elections process in a manner that would literally change how the vast majority of states are currently holding their elections and to reverse a long standing pattern of states moving towards having our elections look less like a singing competition voting and more like every other first world country election.
There are currently only 18 states still holding on to the outdated and ridiculous concept that Americans cannot figure out how to get an ID card when every other country in the world (Canada, Mexico, all of Europe, etc) are able to muster it?
This is an argument that liberals have been losing nationally now for some time and the most recent polling suggest that well over 70% of American want Voter ID and other security measures.
Yet, in spite of losing the argument, they want to push a bill that nobody wants that will try to regress the progress being made, because they know they cannot win if there is actual ID and security measures in place.
Yet, in spite of losing the argument, they want to push a bill that nobody wants that will try to regress the progress being made, because they know they cannot win if there is actual ID and security measures in place.
And their only chance of passing it is with a one-time, sleight-of-hand, suspension of the filibuster rules.
It would be pathetic if it were not so downright evil.

The ID requirements are designed to specifically to vote for Democrats.
The gerrymandering restrictions by the federal government have been declared unconstitutional by the conservative majority Supreme Court. They might remove that.
One very specific reason to pass hr1 is that in most cases, have closed voting locations on Sundays because most of the elderly black people have voted after church services on Sundays.

Thousands of jobs like I had for decades.
LOS ANGELES (CNS) — LAX will receive over $79 million from the federal infrastructure bill that President Joe Biden signed into law last month, the largest share of more than $294 million going to 167 airports across California, the state's two Democratic senators announced Thursday.
"We are already seeing the benefits of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, including in these investments in California's airports," Sen. Alex Padilla said. "
Upgrading terminals, runway renovations, and other improvements at California airports will create good-paying construction jobs and help our tourism industry rebound as we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic."
The money will be distributed through the Department of Transportation. The Federal Aviation Administration will allocate an additional $12 billion nationwide in airport infrastructure improvements provided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill over the next several years.
The law also provides $5 billion in additional grant funding for terminal development projects and $5 billion to improve air traffic control infrastructure.
"California's economy is the fifth largest in the world, but our infrastructure including our airports — lags behind," Sen. Dianne Feinstein said. "... This funding will improve facilities, update technology and make flying more efficient, safer and comfortable for Californians. We must continue these types of critical investments in our infrastructure if we're to remain competitive and continue to create jobs and economic opportunities. Today's announcement is a step in the right direction."
Aside from the $79,278,162 going to LAX, the Southland's other airports are in line for the following amounts:
John Wayne Airport (Orange County): $11,573,206
Burbank/Hollywood Airport: $7,956,710
Long Beach Airport: $6,121,584
Van Nuys Airport: $763,000
San Gabriel Valley Airport (El Monte): $295,000
Fullerton Municipal Airport: $295,000

Are you suggesting that 76% of Americans, all of Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asian, Australia, and everyone else is gaslighted by Fox News into thinking this is a good thing?
Or do you suppose that the 18 states and Russia that are left out there not wanting Voter ID might actually just be the minority?
In our pre-election survey, around three-quarters of Americans (76%) favored requiring all voters to show government-issued photo identification to vote. The vast majority of Republicans (91%) backed ID requirements, while a smaller majority of Democrats (63%) said the same.

Latinos Say Adios to the Democratic Party
Marquez: ‘Latinos continue to embrace conservative messaging’
According to numerous reports, Latinos are leaving the Democratic party in large numbers. In an essay expressing great concern about the phenomenon in The Liberal Patriot, to The New York Post, Ruy Teixeira claims, “It’s not as bad as you think, it’s worse.”
The Wall Street Journal notes: “The nation’s large and diverse group of Hispanic voters is showing signs of dividing its support between Democrats and Republicans more evenly than in recent elections, a new Wall Street Journal poll finds, a troubling development for the Democratic Party, which has long counted on outsize Hispanic support.”
CNN laments: “Democrats have a major problem with Hispanic Voters”
El American explains: “The Hispanic community is one of the fastest growing in the electorate. Most of us fled countries ruined economically and morally by leftist policies, we don’t want the same thing to happen in the United States. Undoubtedly, this community will play a key role in the upcoming elections.”
As Nevada Democrats continue to shift further left in policy and the state party is run by Bernie Sanders socialists, Nevada’s Latino population has been steadily shifting toward Republican candidates and conservative messaging.
According to Jesus Marquez, former adviser to President Donald J Trump, conservative radio commentator in Nevada, and political consultant, Latinos have been steadily shifting away from the Democrat party since President Trump ran for office in 2016.
“Romney got 27 percent of the Latino vote. Trump got 32 percent in 2016, and in 2020, 37 percent of Latinos voted for Donald Trump. In Nevada, those numbers were 30 and 36 percent, respectively. With a new generation of Republican leaders taking charge, like Adam Laxalt and Ron Desantis, Latinos continue to embrace conservative messaging and the movement that Donald Trump started,” Marquez stated.
“Democrats are now trying to divide and redefine Latinos with referring to us as LatinX. Latinos see this as an imposition and do not identify with this term, but liberals keep using it. It seems like they all got the same memo to use this LatinX term when defining Latinos, but I can tell you, this is backfiring on them” Marquez warned.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Demands Firing of D.C. Jail Official
By Julie Kelly
December 16, 2021
In a letter to Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser on Thursday, U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) demanded the firing of a top official at the D.C. Department of Corrections.
Greene last weekend posted a series of hateful anti-Trump, anti-Republican tweets by Kathleen Landerkin, the deputy warden of the Correctional Treatment Facility. Dozens of Donald Trump supporters arrested and charged for their involvement in the January 6 protest at the Capitol have been held at the CTF, denied bail by federal judges at the request of Joe Biden’s Justice Department. Several Trump supporters have been detained in the D.C. jail for more than 10 months as trials are pushed into the middle of 2022.
Detainees have been subjected to tortuous conditions, including months in solitary confinement, physical assaults, racially-charged verbal abuse, no access to family, and limited access to their attorneys. Guards deny access to grooming and health care services; in November, a federal judge released one inmate who suffers from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after jail officials repeatedly withheld treatment.

Roger (and many on the left) truly believe that it was against the law to try to challenge the election results in 2020.
Same with the idea that Trump committed a crime by not doing enough to "stop the rioting" that lasted approximately three hours, led to limited injuries, and created approximately *1.5 million in damage (which is a fraction of a typical BLM riot).
He doesn't quite understand that even if Democrats prove that Trump wanted to see if he could overturn the election results (legal) or even ignored pleas to end the riot (which he didn't) - there is no crime there.
But Roger has been led to believe that the "crime" that was committed was "treason" because, of course, the actual actions do not actually match any real criminal statute.
Oh.. and we will continue to call 500 unarmed Americans entering the Capital building an "Insurrection" because... well it sounds better than the truth.
* Democrats like to site the number of $30 million because they used it as an excuse to do things like fence off the capital, pay for extra security and such. None of which appears to have been necessary. They spent the money by their choice when it obviously was not needed and then blame the people whom they disingenuously believed they needed protection from for apparently not attacking again.

El-Erian says ‘transitory’ was the ‘worst inflation call in the history’ of the Fed
“The characterization of inflation as transitory is probably the worst inflation call in the history of the Federal Reserve, and it results in a high probability of a policy mistake,” the former Pimco CEO and current Queens’ College president said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”
“So, the Fed must quickly, starting this week, regain control of the inflation narrative and regain its own credibility,” he added. “Otherwise, it will become a driver of higher inflation expectations that feed onto themselves.”
El-Erian’s comments came just after the Labor Department reported that the consumer price index, a broad-based measure of inflation, rose 6.8% from a year ago in November.
Though the number was only slightly ahead of Wall Street expectations, it still marked the biggest 12-month move since 1982, back when the U.S. was battling the worst inflation it had ever seen. Even stripping out food and energy prices, the CPI rose 4.9%, which was its biggest gain in about 30 years.
Fed officials long had said they expected the inflation surge to be “transitory,” as it is being driven by supply chain and demand factors largely associated with the pandemic. However, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell recently said it’s time to retire the word as it tends to cause confusion among the public.
El-Erian said the Fed’s recognition that price pressures aren’t going away is essential to making the proper policy decisions.
“If they catch up now, if they’re honest about their mistake and take steps now, they can still regain control of it,” he said.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday permanently lifted a restriction on the abortion pill mifepristone that required providers to dispense the drug in person, allowing it to be delivered by mail.
The decision is subject to state laws that can criminalize the practice. But the FDA move could still have significant consequences for women, particularly in rural areas where it might be harder for women to find a clinic or doctor that will administer the drug in person.
