I have a little theory on this...

 Young Voters Turn Against Biden

A new Economist/YouGov poll finds 29% of adults under age 30 approve of the job President Biden is doing, while 50% disapprove.

“The net rating of -21 points is the worst for any age group. Adults aged between 30 and 44 give Biden a -17 rating; those aged 45 to 64 come in at -5; and among adults aged 65 and over, the president is eight points underwater.”

“This is a sharp reversal from the beginning of the year, when young voters gave Biden a net approval rating 32 points higher than older people did. And Biden is falling out of favor fastest with the youngest groups.”

So my youngest son just turned 19. I remember fondly back in Jr High when his school ran a mock Presidential election in 2016 and Hillary Clinton took third place behind one of the students who kids were "writing in". Overall, 90% of his school voted for Trump.

So while I have no question that younger people have soured on Biden, I also believe that the youngest (those who would just now be eligible to vote) are not quite as liberal as many assume that they will be. Generations change over time and there is every indication that the late teen generation (whatever they call themselves) are not going to be as woke, liberal, or the total pains in the asses that the people in their mid-late twenties currently are.

This could be a trend moving forward. Democrats and Biden have already managed to lose the working class, Hispanics, and are starting to lose blacks. With Biden on their side and their concentration on silly issues like voting rights and commissions on things that happened a year ago, they might just lose young people as well. There simply isn't much for young people to get excited about. Bill Clinton? Sure. Cool enough. Barack Obama as the first Black President. Absolutely. Joe Biden being a role model to a 19 year old? Nope.

The ACLU has proof of what I have been saying for months since he lost the election and the big lie that you brought hook line is sinker

Voter identification laws are a part of an ongoing strategy to roll back decades of progress on voting rights.  Thirty-four states have identification requirements at the polls. Seven states have strict photo ID laws, under which voters must present one of a limited set of forms of government-issued photo ID in order to cast a regular ballot – no exceptions.

Voter ID laws deprive many voters of their right to vote, reduce participation, and stand in direct opposition to our country’s trend of including more Americans in the democratic process. Many Americans do not have one of the forms of identification states acceptable for voting. These voters are disproportionately low-income, racial and ethnic minorities, the elderly, and people with disabilities.  Such voters more frequently have difficulty obtaining ID, because they cannot afford or cannot obtain the underlying documents that are a prerequisite to obtaining government-issued photo ID card.

Voter ID Laws Deprive Many Americans of the Right to VoteMillions of Americans Lack ID. 11% of U.S. citizens – or more than 21 million Americans – do not have government-issued photo identification.1Obtaining ID Costs Money. Even if ID is offered for free, voters must incur numerous costs (such as paying for birth certificates) to apply for a government-issued ID.Underlying documents required to obtain ID cost money, a significant expense for lower-income Americans. The combined cost of document fees, travel expenses and waiting time are estimated to range from $75 to $175.2The travel required is often a major burden on people with disabilities, the elderly, or those in rural areas without access to a car or public transportation. In Texas, some people in rural areas must travel approximately 170 miles to reach the nearest ID office.

3Voter ID Laws Reduce Voter Turnout. A 2014 GAO study found that strict photo ID laws reduce turnout by 2-3 percentage points,4 which can translate into tens of thousands of votes lost in a single state.
5Voter ID Laws Are DiscriminatoryMinority voters disproportionately lack ID.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Nationally, up to 25% of African-American citizens of voting age lack government-issued photo ID, compared to only 8% of whites.6States exclude forms of ID in a discriminatory manner. Texas allows concealed weapons permits for voting, but does not accept student ID cards. Until its voter ID law was struck down, North Carolina prohibited public assistance IDs and state employee ID cards, which are disproportionately held by Black voters. And until recently, Wisconsin permitted active duty military ID cards, but prohibited Veterans Affairs ID cards for voting.Voter ID laws are enforced in a discriminatory manner. A Caltech/MIT study found that minority voters are more frequently questioned about ID than are white voters.7Voter ID laws reduce turnout among minority voters. Several studies, including a 2014 GAO study, have found that photo ID laws have a particularly depressive effect on turnout among racial minorities and other vulnerable groups, worsening the participation gap between voters of color and whites.8Voter ID Requirements are a Solution in Search of a ProblemIn-person fraud is vanishingly rare. A recent study found that, since 2000, there were only 31 credible allegations of voter impersonation – the only type of fraud that photo IDs could prevent – during a period of time in which over 1 billion ballots were cast.9Identified instances of “fraud” are honest mistakes. So-called cases of in-person impersonation voter “fraud” are almost always the product of an elections worker or a voter making an honest mistake, and that even these mistakes are extremely infrequent.10Voter ID laws are a waste of taxpayer dollars. States incur sizeable costs when implementing voter ID laws, including the cost of educating the public, training poll workers, and providing IDs to voters.Texas spent nearly $2 million on voter education and outreach efforts following passage of its Voter ID law.11Indiana spent over $10 million to produce free ID cards between 2007 and 2010.12

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday permanently lifted a restriction on the abortion pill mifepristone that required providers to dispense the drug in person, allowing it to be delivered by mail.

The decision is subject to state laws that can criminalize the practice. But the FDA move could still have significant consequences for women, particularly in rural areas where it might be harder for women to find a clinic or doctor that will administer the drug in person.

Black-owned businesses are getting a major boost from the Fed.

A the Freedman's Bank Forum on Tuesday (December 14), Vice President Kamala Harris and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen unveiled the US Treasury's plan to distribute $8.78 billion –– with a capital "B" –– to help increase lending to Black-owned business and access to banking in low-income communities.

The funds are coming from the Emergency Capital Investment Program –– an initiative formed this year –– and will be distributed to 186 community-based financial institutions.

"The wealth gap persists today, the homeownership gap persists," Harris said, emphasizing the need for these major investments. " Black entrepreneurs are three times more likely to report that a lack of access to capital negatively affects their profit margins," she added.

Black businesses have been disproportionately impacted by the economic fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic , evidenced by higher rates of business closures, and more.

Secretary Yellen said the funding will help " prevent small business owners of color from closing two of their locations. And better yet, it will help people open two more."

The nearly $9 billion will be distributed to financial institutions in 36 states, Washington, D.C. and Guam . An estimated 54% of funds will be going to banks and 46% is set to go to credit unions.

The largest firms will see more than $200 million each while the smaller ones will receive less than $100,000.

The forum was attended by Rev. Al Sharpton , Rep. Maxine Waters , NAACP President Derrick Johnson , HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge , and more. Check out pics from inside the forum below.

This is going to hurt the President

Offices are canceling holiday parties. Broadway performances are being shuttered because of breakthrough infections among the casts. College finals are being moved online, and some colleges and universities are switching back to remote instruction after the winter break, at least for a time.

Coronavirus cases are spiking again in New York City, beyond anything seen since last winter, and in much of the United States, where the Delta variant remains by far the dominant version. The country is reporting more than 120,000 new cases a day on average, according to a New York Times database — a 40 percent increase from two weeks ago, and 70 percent more than when cases stopped falling in early November.

While most people who are unvaccinated remain at much higher risk, a combination of factors — widespread transmission, waning immunity and the circulation of highly infectious variants — has led to breakthrough infections among the vaccinated.

Several new laboratory studies indicate that vaccines, and especially boosters, may offer substantial protection against the worst outcomes from the fast-spreading Omicron coronavirus variant. Still, the new variant will infect many people who have been vaccinated or recovered from older versions of the virus, according to the research.

The United States passed two milestones this week — 50 million total known cases and 800,000 total deaths — and experts say the addition of Omicron is likely to push the trajectory up even more. So will the holiday season, public health officials say, as people travel and families gather indoors, where the virus spreads most readily.

It's a lot more dangerous than we knew before. This is going to hurt Christmas day plans

Outbreaks are growing most severely around the Great Lakes and in the Northeast. Connecticut is averaging more than 2,600 new cases a day, up from about 330 at the start of November, and Rhode Island is adding cases at the highest rate in the country. Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania have the highest rates of coronavirus hospitalizations.

In some hard-hit states, federal medical workers have been sent to help exhausted hospital staff. About 68,000 coronavirus patients are hospitalized nationwide, a 21 percent increase from two weeks ago, but well below the levels seen over the summer and at last winter’s peak.

Biden administration officials are bracing for a potential wave of Omicron infections that could overwhelm the health care system. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned recently that the percentage of coronavirus cases in the United States caused by Omicron had increased sharply and might portend a surge in infections as soon as next month.

The administration is trying to encourage all Americans who are eligible — those 16 and older who received their second Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine dose at least six months ago, or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson shot at least two months ago — to get a booster.

Across the country, cultural institutions and many ordinary Americans are reconsidering what is safe. The Metropolitan Opera announced on Wednesday that, starting next month, it would require booster shots for all eligible employees and audience members. The N.F.L. and N.B.A. are discussing changes to their protocols in response to a wave of infections among players. Some Wall Street banks are telling workers who had been going into the office to stay home over the holidays.

Similar surges, and accompanying crackdowns, are happening in many countries, especially in Europe. The French government on Thursday banned nonessential travel to and from Britain and tightened testing requirements for travelers, as a record-breaking surge of Omicron cases in Britain raised worries that France would soon face a similar tsunami of new infections.

As of Thursday, there were an average of 3,700 new cases per day being reported in New York City, a level not seen since early April. New York State is also reporting high caseloads — nearly 13,000 new cases on Thursday — a level not seen since the holiday spike last January.

Officially, the city’s monitoring system had only picked up the Omicron variant in about 3 percent of cases it has analyzed as of the week of December 4. But the C.D.C. recently reported in that in the region encompassing New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, about 13 percent of cases were Omicron.

“We have seen a very substantial increase in Covid cases in the last few days. It is clear that the omicron variant is here in New York City in full force,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Thursday.

Sarah Gancher, a teacher at The New School who lives in Queens, said eight of her friends who were fully vaccinated had tested positive this week. The speed at which cases have surged has frightened her, she said.

America was not prepared for COVID-19 when it arrived. It was not prepared for last winter’s surge. It was not prepared for Delta’s arrival in the summer or its current winter assault. More than 1,000 Americans are still dying of COVID every day, and more have died this year than last. Hospitalizations are rising in 42 states. The University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, which entered the pandemic as arguably the best-prepared hospital in the country, recently went from 70 COVID patients to 110 in four days, leaving its staff “grasping for resolve,” the virologist John Lowe told me. And now comes Omicron.

Select Committee Subpoenas Retired Army Colonel

“The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob announced Thursday it had issued a subpoena to retired Army Col. Phil Waldron as it investigates the causes of the insurrection,” the Washington Post reports.

“Waldron worked with Trump’s outside legal team and circulated and briefed members of Congress on a PowerPoint presentation that outlined various proposals to overturn the results of the 2020 election.“

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Politics aside. This is not good news.

WE ARE NOT THERE YET — As we enter the third year of the pandemic, my mind keeps flashing back to a trailer I saw last year for a widely panned Michael Bay movie , which portrays an unlikely dystopian pandemic future, but captures the feeling of helplessness and despair that so many — even those of us lucky enough to have access to vaccines and the privilege to social distance — feel right now with the country on the brink of an Omicron surge.

Last year, when I put together a 2021 pandemic guide , it seemed like this year would bring back a sense of normalcy. And in many ways it did: Kids headed back to classrooms, sports seasons resumed relatively routine schedules, families celebrated the holidays together, people got on planes and many workers went back to the office full time.

Yet more people have died this year than last year as the virus tore its way through largely unvaccinated pockets of the country led by Republican governors are killing older Americans at alarming rates. One out of every hundred Americans 65 and older have died from Covid.

These days, with hospitals so full they are refusing patients, it’s hard to see how this pandemic will ever end, so I reached out to several Nightly go-to experts to help me figure out what is actually ahead. Here are five predictions for 2022:

The U.S. will hit one million deaths in the spring.

Earlier this week the country hit 800,000 Covid deaths and is still recording about 1,300 deaths a day. Even if the Omicron death rate is lower, the overall infection rate will likely be higher, leading to another surge in deaths, said Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota.

“Omicron is starting to rival our most transmissible infectious agent of all: measles,” said Peter Hotez, a vaccine expert at the Baylor College of Medicine, who predicts the country will see a million deaths by the end of March.

Even folks who have gotten their booster dose are getting breakthrough infections, though they are largely spared from severe outcomes. But nearly 75 percent of the population has yet to receive a booster dose, and 40 percent of the U.S. population has yet to receive a single vaccine dose — leaving a vast number of Americans still deeply vulnerable to the worst of the crisis.

We will run out of room on our vaccination cards.

The mRNA vaccines are proving to be not as long lasting as we had hoped, said Hotez, who is working on a low-cost recombinant protein vaccine.

Even three doses may not be enough. “We haven’t hit the ceiling yet of how high we can get an immune response,” said Kirsten Lyke, a vaccine researcher at the University of Maryland School of Medicine who has been studying Covid shots.

That means we will probably be getting another shot. It’s unclear whether future shots will be the same as the previous ones or reconfigured to better tackle new variants, and whether they will become annual rituals. Researchers are now working on a coronavirus shot that will protect against a broad range of coronaviruses as well as variants.

We will be talking about an Omega variant.

“We will go through the whole Greek alphabet,” said Syra Madad, an infectious disease epidemiologist and senior director of the system-wide special pathogens program at NYC Health + Hospitals. We may not hit the Greek alphabet’s last letter in 2022, but it won’t be a distant possibility.

As long as there are large unvaccinated pockets of the world, new variants will emerge, Hotez said. Less than 50 percent of the world’s population is unvaccinated.

“Mother Nature has told us what she has in store for us,” Hotez said, who argues the U.S. has a responsibility to provide doses and combat global anti-vaccine messages. “If we fail to vaccinate the Southern hemisphere, she will get us.”

People like Scott Johnson are killing hundreds of thousands innocent people.

I HAVE A LITTLE THEORY ON THIS---

RNC Paying Trump’s Personal Legal Bills
December 16, 2021 at 8:55 pm EST By Taegan Goddard 41 Comments

“The Republican National Committee has agreed to cover up to $1.6 million of Donald Trump’s personal legal bills, in an unusual arrangement under which the party is paying to defend the former president from ongoing investigations that focus on his private business practices,” the New York Times reports.

My little theory is, IT DOESN'T GET ANY MORE CORRUPT THAN THIS.

But I guess if the sell-out-to-the rich Republicans do it, that makes
it alright.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The PowerPoint presentation may get to the conclusion that the former President incited the Insurrection act. Sedition or treason.

Phil Waldron, one of the primary conspiracy theorists to push the Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen, received a subpoena on Thursday from the Jan. 6 Committee.

Waldron gained notoriety recently after a PowerPoint presentation surfaced that Waldron had helped to create. The slideshow advanced a theory of how Republican members of Congress could throw out Joe Biden’s electoral votes. That presentation found its way into the hands of then-chief of staff Mark Meadows, the committee has said.

According to the subpoena, Waldron claimed to have met with Meadows “6-8 times” before the Capitol insurrection.

The panel has been examining the PowerPoint as it bears down on Meadows’ role in the insurrection and in promoting the Big Lie.

The committee released texts this week from various Fox News hosts and members of Congress to Meadows. The Fox News hosts asked Meadows to tell Trump to call off the insurgents who had taken over the Capitol; the members of Congress appeared to be giving Meadows advice on how best to overturn the result..sedition and, in one case, apologizing for failing to do so.

Waldron, a retired army colonel, reportedly attended an Oval Office meeting with Trump on Nov. 25, along with several Pennsylvania state lawmakers.

The subpoena demands that Waldron appear for a Jan. 17 deposition, and that he hand over records about his activities related to the insurrection and Big Lie by Jan. 10.

Panel Chair Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) said in a statement that Waldron was “apparently in communication with officials in the Trump White House and in Congress discussing his theories in the weeks leading up to the January 6th attack.”

Thompson described the PowerPoint as an “alarming blueprint for overturning a nationwide election.”

The PowerPoint in question advocated for Mike Pence to reject electors from swing states, and also proposed that National Guard soldiers “secure” paper ballots in other swing states once congressional certification was delayed.

Sending armed forces to "secure" ballots that voted for Biden, and make them disappear.???

The HR 1 is one step closer! rrb doesn't know what the federal government has authority on federal elections.

Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), who is up for reelection in 2022, announced on Thursday that she supports getting rid of the 60-vote legislative filibuster for voting rights legislation.

Hassan is the latest in a growing number of Senate Democrats who back changes to the Senate rules as voting rights legislation has been stuck in limbo for months — though Democrats don't yet have the 50 votes needed in order to reform the filibuster.

"A set of arcane Senate rules are being used as an excuse not to act. This cannot stand. We must change the rules to allow a simple majority of this body ... to pass laws that will protect the right to vote and protect American democracy," Hassan said during a speech from the Senate floor on Thursday night.

Democrats appear poised to wrap up work for the year without taking action on voting rights legislation.

Republicans have blocked several election reform and voting bills, which have failed to get the 60 votes needed for most legislation to advance in the Senate.

Democrats are having discussions about how to potentially change the rules, with a range of options on the table, including exempting voting rights from the 60-vote filibuster, implementing a talking filibuster or requiring 41 "no" votes rather than 60 "yes" votes, in an effort to put more pressure on senators blocking legislation.

Democrats haven't yet landed on a proposal that unifies the caucus, and Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) have opposed changing the filibuster. Though Manchin has been engaged in negotiations, he has said he thinks rules changes should be bipartisan and has previously opposed the "nuclear option," with which Democrats would try to force through changes on their own.

A spokesperson for Sinema also said this week that she remains supportive of the 60-vote legislative filibuster.

Even amid such setbacks, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) vowed that Democrats would plow forward with conversations on rules changes with an eye at getting voting rights legislation across the finish line.

"Senate Democrats have spent the past few weeks engaged in a separate discussion on addressing another critical and urgent priority — protecting the right to vote and safeguarding our elections," Schumer said.

"Yesterday, I joined with a number of my colleagues in detailed conversations about how the Senate will get voting rights done in time for the 2022 elections," Schumer added.

Republicans have opposed the voting bills, arguing that they would federalize elections. But Democrats view them as urgent and a top priority as states debate new election legislation.

"The Constitution gives Congress the power to oversee federal elections. That means that Congress has the authority to protect democracy and the right to vote. And we have a constitutional and moral obligation to do so," Hassan added on Thursday.

This is what BLM and the 1619 Project do today through the curricula they send to the nation’s 14,000 school districts. It’s also what CRT “anti-racism” trainers do in all aspects of our lives.

Zach Goldberg, a doctoral candidate at Georgia State, detailed in the Tablet in August 2020 how much the media began to sell after the BLM GNF narrative following Zimmerman’s acquittal in July 2013. Prior to 2013, the terms “white,” ”racial privilege(s),” ”of color,” and ”racial equity,” were hardly ever used, wrote Goldberg. Things began to radically change that year, however.

By 2019, on the eve of the George Floyd riots, the frequency with which The New York Times and The Washington Post used these terms had exploded. More importantly, the terms that deprecate America and its founding principles became generalized. “From 1970 until 2014, the combined usage frequency of the three ‘macro-level’ racism terms—systemic racism, structural racism, institutional racism—never exceeded 0.00006% of all words in any of the four newspapers,” Goldberg writes. “By 2014, however, this ceiling was shattered, particularly in the Times and Post. In the final year of the series (2019), the Times (0.0004% of all words) and Post (0.00056%) were using these terms roughly 10 times more frequently than they were in 2013 (0.00004%, 0.00005%).” The media, in other words, had taken an active hand in inculcating the counter-hegemony, whose acceptance is needed before communists can topple a country.

AND HERE IS THE LATEST, FINAL VERSION OF MY ARTICLE WHICH APPEARED THIS MORNING IN THE PANTAGAPH OF BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL, ILLINOIS.

The Christmas story provides relief from politics
JAMES BOSWELL

SICK and tired of the constantly disturbing news, we turn to the Christmas story for relief. Surely in the beautiful Christmas narrative we can find respite from all the hateful language, all the negative, divisive infighting that is so rampant in American politics today. Surely we can there find relief from the incessant demand that we must side either with the Republicans or with the Democrats.

And so we turn to this Sunday’s gospel scriptures, and there we discover a text in which the author of Luke relates what the mother of Jesus must have predicted about his arrival:

“God has shown great strength with his arm,” Mary says. “He has dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart. He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, but lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent empty away.”

Oh no! we tell ourselves, for Mary’s words challenge us to choose whose side we are on, requiring us to side with those politicians who are most committed to “bringing down” the powerful from their “thrones.” Her words challenge us to side with those who are most committed to dislodging the selfish wealthy from their positions of greedy dominance, thereby “sending the rich away empty” and “lifting up the lowly” and “filling the hungry with good things.”

In that way, political realities come barging right into the Christmas story, right into the narrative of the low-born baby who as an adult criticized the rich for their selfish greed, warning them that “you cannot serve two masters, for you cannot serve both God and money,” and admonishing all of us to care for the poor, the ostracized, the outcasts, including even the least and last of people, no matter who or what or where they are.

Contradicting the distortions of far too many politicians, Jesus warns us to “guard yourselves against every form of greed, for your life does not consist in the abundance of your possessions. For I myself,” he reminds us, “did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give my life for all.”

And this, actually, is good news. For if taken seriously, Jesus frees us from the delusion that greed can make us happy, and invites us to stand instead with and among the humble in heart who know true blessedness.

The Need for a New Grand Strategy

Why expose all this? My hope is to make it plain why schools are teaching children these new ideologies, and why workers are being subjected to what can only be described as Gramscian, consciousness-raising struggle sessions at their places of work, and why even the military and the churches are following suit. Revolutionary theoreticians recruited and trained the founders of the BLM organizations. After eight years of existence, they have brought America to the brink of societal change. Once we understand this, we can start to envision a grand strategy that will defeat their efforts.

What that strategy will look like is the subject of an entirely different essay—or hopefully many essays. The purpose of this one is to say, on this 30th anniversary of the collapse of the Evil Empire, that we have a new problem.

A grand strategy to confront the new Marxist threat would need to understand the mutation. It would need to grasp the fact that the new threat relies on organizing people in different environments and then indoctrinating them. It takes place on buses, domestic work, schools, or neighborhoods about to be gentrified. A grand strategy must grasp what is at stake. It’s nothing less than the replacement of the key American idea that “All Men Are Created Equal” with the lie of white supremacy. Such a strategy would have to reckon with what is happening in our schools. It would need to understand that violence will remain central to Marxist success. Dismantling police forces, the prisons, and the court system itself (which Patrisse Cullors calls for in this video) is part of an effort to leave society defenseless. Once enough people are converted, then the revolutionaries need only wait for a moment of crisis.

We will need to understand what people like Goldberg have in store:

In societies that have a vibrant civil society, revolutionary strategy cannot be based on a pre-given Marxist formula in which a moment of crisis makes the oppressive nature of the capitalist system clear and sparks an insurrectionary struggle that smashes the capitalist state and establishes socialism. Gramsci argued that crises are important, but that they do not ensure that oppressed people will believe in the need for a new economy or that they will have the power to wage a successful revolutionary struggle. To Gramsci, an insurrectionary moment will only succeed if it follows a long-term effort to win oppressed people over to a transformative vision and if it builds working class power over time.

Many Americans have begun to grasp all of this intuitively and have begun to rise up and oppose CRT. To succeed, however, they will need our support.

‘Striking’ vaccine resistance in Omicron variant: Columbia University

By

Ben Kesslen

December 16, 2021 1:56pm

 Updated

A new study out of Columbia University says the Omicron variant is “markedly resistant” to vaccines and boosters might not do much to help, spelling bad news for the country as Omicron spreads and COVID-19 cases rise nationally.

“A striking feature of this variant is the large number of spike mutations that pose a threat to the efficacy of current COVID-19 vaccines and antibody therapies,” according to the study authored by more than 20 scientists at Columbia and the University of Hong Kong.

The Omicron variant was first detected in South Africa in November and is widely believed to soon become the dominant strain in the US, eclipsing the Delta variant.

The scientists express concern in the study published Wednesday that the variant’s “extensive” mutations can “greatly compromise” the vaccine, even neutralizing it. The report said the booster shots prevent some of the neutralization, but the variant “may still pose a risk” for those with their third shot.

“Even a third booster shot may not adequately protect against Omicron infection,” the study said, adding it’s still smart to get a booster.

The study determined that Omicron’s spike mutations “pose a threat to the efficacy of current COVID-19 vaccines.”Getty Images/iStockphoto

The results are “in line with emerging clinical data on the Omicron variant demonstrating higher rates of reinfection and vaccine breakthroughs,” the authors said.

One study recently showed Omicron is roughly 70 times more transmissible than Delta, but less severe.

The new Columbia study ends with a grave warning and a call to action to the scientific community.

The report said the booster shots prevent some of the neutralization, but the variant “may still pose a risk.”Getty Images

“It is not too far-fetched to think that this [COVID-19] is now only a mutation or two away from being pan-resistant to current antibodies,” it says. “We must devise strategies that anticipate the evolutional direction of the virus and develop agents that target better conserved viral elements.”

More than 5.3 people million worldwide, including more than 802,000 in the US, have died from COVID-19 as of Thursday, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

This third wave might be even worse than before!

Red alert
Tucker Carlson could do it. So could Laura Ingraham, Mark Levin or Donald Trump himself.

One of these conservative figures could go on the air and explain that the Omicron variant has placed much of their audience in grave danger. They could remind people that they have been skeptical of vaccines at times — but that Omicron is different. It is so contagious that it may quickly sweep the country.

As they issued this warning, they could still take their usual swipes at the political left, mocking panicky liberals for wearing masks outdoors and forcing children to sit apart in cold schoolyards. Conservatives don’t need to do any of that; they just need to take a Covid-19 vaccine — the “Trump vaccine” that could save their life.

I don’t have any illusions about how likely this scenario is, but I do think that unvaccinated Americans — who are disproportionately Republican — are now in even more danger than a few weeks ago. Omicron seems to be qualitatively more contagious than any earlier variant. As my colleague Emily Anthes writes, in a roundup of the latest developments:

In South Africa, Omicron spread twice as fast as the highly infectious Delta variant. In Britain, officials have estimated that 200,000 people are becoming infected with Omicron every day. In Denmark, Omicron cases are doubling roughly every two days.

‘Needlessly’
In the U.S., partisanship is the biggest factor determining vaccination rates. If Democratic voters made up their own country, it would be one of the world’s most vaccinated, with more than 91 percent of adults having received at least one shot. Only about 60 percent of Republican adults have done so.

This vaccination gap has created a huge gap in death rates, one that has grown sharply during the second half of the year.

FANTASTIC MORNING !!!

Big Pharma, Gates, Fauci, UK officials accused of crimes against humanity in complaint to International court

Thu Dec 16, 2021 - 9:29 pm EST
(LifeSiteNews) – A group that includes former Pfizer vice president Dr. Michael Yeadon filed a complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) on behalf of UK citizens against Boris Johnson and UK officials, Bill and Melinda Gates, chief executives of Big Pharma companies, World Economic Forum executive chairman Klaus Schwab, and others for crimes against humanity.

The UK group, including an astrophysicist and a funeral director, additionally charged Dr. Anthony Fauci; Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO); June Raine, chief executive of Medicines and Healthcare products regulatory agency (MHRA); Dr. Radiv Shah, president of the Rockefeller Foundation; and Dr. Peter Daszak, president of EcoHealth Alliance, as “responsible for numerous violations of the Nuremberg Code … war crimes and crimes of aggression” in the UK and other countries.

After repeated unsuccessful attempts to raise a case with the English Court system, the applicants resorted to calling with “the utmost urgency” for the ICC “to stop the rollout of COVID vaccinations, introduction of unlawful vaccination passports and all other types of illegal warfare … being waged against the people of the UK.”

In the group’s complaint filed December 6, they present evidence that COVID-19 “vaccines” are in fact experimental gene therapies engineered with gain-of-function research from bat coronaviruses, arguing that these “vaccines” have caused massive death and injury and that the UK government has failed to investigate such reported deaths and injuries; that COVID case and death numbers have been artificially inflated; that face masks are harmful due to hypoxia, hypercapnia and other causes; and PCR tests are “completely unreliable” and “contain carcinogenic ethylene oxide.”

They furthermore argued that effective treatments for COVID-19 such as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin, were suppressed, leading to a greater death toll from COVID-19 than what should have occurred.

They make the case that the lockdowns were enacted under the pretext of artificially inflated infection and death numbers from an engineered virus, as well as the experimental “vaccines” have resulted in:

Massive short-term damage and death, with at least 395,049 reported adverse reactions to COVID “vaccines” in the UK alone; a sharp uptick in ChildLine calls from vulnerable children during lockdowns; “destruction of wealth and businesses” through imposed lockdowns;” “severe deprivation of physical liberty in violation of fundamental rules of international law,” including bans on travel and gatherings, and forced quarantine and self-isolation; apartheid due to segregation by vaccine passport possession; and “expected reduction in fertility” after “vaccination,” among other harmful physical and psychological effects.

In addition, the applicants maintain that “the suppression of safe and effective alternative treatments for Covid-19 amounts to murder and warrants a full investigation by the court.” They noted that besides censorship of online information on and promotion of these alternative treatments, “some academic journals are blocking the publication of studies showing the effectiveness of drugs such as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine.”

WASHINGTON — Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said Thursday that he looks forward to seeing what the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol finds in its probe.

“It was a horrendous event and I think what they are seeking to find out is something the public needs to know,” McConnell said in an interview with Spectrum News.

Meadows' text messages reveal pleas for Trump intervention during Jan. 6 riot
McConnell’s interest in the investigation is notable since he had opposed the creation of a bipartisan Jan. 6 commission, calling the idea “slanted and unbalanced.”

The minority leader's comments are a stark contrast to those of his GOP counterpart in the House, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., who has denounced the committee’s work as purely partisan.

Here's one way Trump has reshaped the GOP in his own image after Jan. 6
Earlier this week, McConnell was pressed about what he was hoping to learn from the Jan. 6 committee.

“Well, I’m like you. I read the reports every day,” he said at a press conference. “And it’ll be interesting to see what they conclude.”

With Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) continuing to give his own party nightmares as the infighting over President Biden’s “Build Back Better” agenda rages on with no end in sight, talk on Capitol Hill has (predictably) turned to speculation over whether or not Manchin is planning an eventual flip to the dark side – also known as switching to the Republican party.

The Associated Press floated a story today suggesting that some Senate Democrats were very “concerned he could switch parties and take away their slim hold on power” considering the Senate as it stands now is at a 50/50 split, with Vice President Kamala Harris frequently being the tiebreaker when the voting takes place:

The Most Trusted Name in Sex Scandal
CNN exposed again—the second time in a week—for alleged underage sexual misconduct

Five days following the arrest of producer John Griffin at CNN for engaging in unlawful relations with underage girls, it appears another CNN producer has followed suit. Last night, Project Veritas dropped a bombshell exposing another producer soliciting sexual material involving an underage girl.

On Monday, the California Globe chronicled the litany of sexual scandals plaguing CNN. This list includes Jeffrey Toobin, Chris Cuomo, Don Lemon and John Griffin. Since publication, more information has been unearthed about John Griffin’s case and another producer has been outed for similar crimes.

CNN is officially in sexual disarray.

Regarding John Griffin, Fox News reported that some of his personal electronic devices had been seized by authorities in September of 2020, more than a full year prior to his arrest. “… Authorities first became aware of Griffin’s depraved proclivities 18 months ago – yet the FBI didn’t arrest him until Friday in Connecticut for allegedly soliciting three mothers and their underage daughters for ‘training’ on fetish sex.”

One is left to speculate how many more crimes John Griffin committed between the seizure of his devices and his eventual arrest. The Department of Justice remains silent on this very issue after being asked by Fox for comment.

Additionally, the amount of time it takes for legacy media to properly report stories in their possession is also problematic. ABC and its Jeffrey Epstein cover-up made this clear last year.

According to the video from Veritas in conjunction with their source Janine Bonnani, the unnamed producer at CNN sent text messages and Facetime recordings asking for naked pictures of 15- and 14-year-old girls as well as discussing his fetishized sexual fantasies about them. The CNN producer was explicit, and given the nature of fantasies, beyond disturbing. They include forced oral sex, mother-daughter tag team fantasies as well the general sexual objectification of barely pubescent teenage girls.

Chris Cuomo was fired by CNN months after allegations surfaced that he had advised his brother Andrew Cuomo on strategy to survive multiple accusations of sexual harassment. (Photo: Ron Adar/Shutterstock)
The producer at CNN was left unnamed in the video. California Globe reached out to Project Veritas regarding the anonymity of the accused. RC Maxwell, Press Secretary for Project Veritas responded saying, “To protect the children, we are not yet releasing information about certain individuals involved in the story including the producer.” The producer himself is currently engaged and one of the young girls alleged to be in potential danger from this man is his fiancé’s daughter. Maxwell also added that “Our first course of action was to reach out to authorities. Following that, we reached out to the mother of the children to ensure their safety.”

The Threat to Democracy Is Real
December 17, 2021 at 9:46 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Jonathan Bernstein:
“In a two-party system, both parties will eventually hold office. If one of those parties has turned against democratic norms, it will eventually hold power and, well, enact its preferences. It is extremely unlikely that rank-and-file voters would prevent such a party from taking power; people simply don’t vote based on that kind of abstraction. And thanks to partisan polarization, most voters will automatically support their team in any event.

"Hey everyone, I'm running for Congress," said Garcia in a tweet announcing his candidacy. "My mom brought me to this country when I was 5. She risked everything so that I could succeed. Every single kid deserves the same shot this country has given me."

Garcia, who lost both his mother and stepfather to COVID-19, made his announcement one day after veteran Long Beach Democratic Rep. Alan Lowenthal said he will not seek reelection.

A House committee released new evidence that Trump officials interfered with the US's COVID response.

Weakened CDC testing guidelines and blocked CDC briefings were among the committee's findings.

The report also said Trump "neglected the pandemic response" to "promote the Big Lie" of a stolen election.

A new report from the House Committee on Oversight and Reform — the main investigative body of the House of Representatives — found that the Trump administration undermined the country's COVID-19 pandemic response for political purposes.

The report, first written about by CNN and conducted under the auspices of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, includes numerous findings that have already been released this year. But the report also includes new evidence of what the committee called "deliberate efforts to undermine the nation's coronavirus response for political purposes."

According to the report, the Trump administration also weakened COVID-19 testing guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) while blocking media briefings by the public health agency.

After a February 25, 2020 briefing in which then-CDC National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases Director Dr. Nancy Messonnier warned about the dangers of the virus, former President Donald Trump was angered and blocked the health agency's requests to conduct public briefings for three months.

"That is the feeling that we had, many of us had," said Dr. Anne Schuchat, a CDC official, when asked by the committee about whether she and others at the agency felt "muzzled" by the administration.

Dr. Deborah Birx, who served as the White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator under Trump, wrote in an email released by the committee that she would be skipping a meeting that included many proponents of a "herd immunity" response to the pandemic.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has apparently had a change of heart about the Jan. 6 committee, saying Thursday that “the public needs to know” its findings on the “horrendous event.”

“I think the fact-finding is interesting,” he added during an interview with Spectrum News that aired Thursday. “We’re all going to be watching it.”

McConnell’s newfound eagerness is a markedly different tone than he struck during the creation of the committee. Back in May, he said that an investigation under Democratic leadership would be “slanted and unbalanced.” His position turned some of his members — who had initially expressed support for the idea — against the creation of a commission.

In the same interview this week, he declined to give an “evaluation of the performance of the committee” when asked his thoughts on Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-WY) revelations this week about Mark Meadows’ role on Jan. 6 and in its build-up. Cheney and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) are the only Republicans on the panel.

This week has seen a flood of news out of the committee’s investigation, including a slate of text messages from Fox News hosts and Donald Trump Jr. to Meadows during the insurrection, pleading with him to get then-President Donald Trump to call off the mob.

The committee also reportedly recently interviewed staffers of Brad Raffensperger, Georgia’s secretary of state, who Trump pressured to “find” enough votes to flip the state’s election. Committee members on Thursday subpoenaed the creator of a PowerPoint that outlined ways for Republican members of Congress to overturn the election.

Korean Air pushed back on the claim its plane was used to transport fake ballots last November.

The conspiracy theory prompted an unlikely attempt by Trump supporters to catch the plane.

Korean Air described the claim as "groundless and false" in a statement to Insider.

A Korean Air spokesperson described as "groundless and false" a conspiracy theory that one of its planes helped steal the 2020 election from Donald Trump.

The claim was cited in legal documents quoted by The New York Times this week, but first began circulating last November, after Trump's defeat in the US presidential election by Democrat Joe Biden.

It led to a small party of Trump supporters, including the chief of staff to GOP Rep. Paul Gosar's, Tom Van Flein, to embark on an expedition to an airport near Phoenix, Arizona, to intercept the plane, as Insider reported.

It resulted in a grainy video of a Korean Air jet, recorded on November 7, 2020 — but no proof of a stolen election.

No evidence of a planeload of fake votes was ever detected. But the incident illustrates the extraordinary lengths taken by Trump supporters determined to substantiate the former president's claim that the election was illegitimate.

The bottom line is " what did he know and when did he know it"

A congressional staffer, who asked not to be named, said that Meadows’s initial coöperation with the investigation undermines his current legal claim that the committee is engaging in overreach. “I think he got buyer’s remorse,” the staffer said. “He is putting himself in a difficult position.”

Raskin said he believes that the events of January 6th involved “three rings” of participants. An outer ring consisted of the thousands of Trump supporters who attended the morning rally and, in many cases, sincerely believed his false claim that the election had been stolen from him. A middle ring consisted of certain members of the Proud Boys, the Oath Keepers, and other far-right groups who acted as a “frontal guard” that conducted an organized assault on the Capitol. A third ring consisted of Trump and a small number of loyalists—including Steve Bannon, Rudy Giuliani, and John Eastman, the lawyer who drafted a plan for Vice-President Mike Pence to reject Electoral College votes for Biden—who operated out of a suite in the Willard Hotel, a few blocks from the White House. Raskin described their actions around the events of January 6th as unprecedented in American history. After Pence declined Trump’s demand that he alter the election results, Trump dispatched a mob to block the certification of his defeat. “This was an attempted coup by the President against the Vice-President and the Congress,” Raskin said.

____

It's a difficult task, but if they provide reasonable evidence that he knew what he knew and what did he do. It has a be more than hearsay. If there is a recording that he ordered the Vice President Pence, to overturn the election, from what I have read, it could be sedition.

That absurd NY Times scare piece this morning ("Omicron Threatens Red America")
Alex Berenson 42 min ago
94
Several of you have written me about it, since it was written by David Leonhardt, whom as I mention in PANDEMIA I know.

I emailed David about it this morning.

DL:

That piece was... well, problematic.

As I'm guessing you know, the Trump county data [NOTE: these are figures David has repeatedly published showing more Covid deaths in counties that voted for Trump, which also tend to have lower vaccination rates] is completely confounded by age - Trump voters are older - and obesity - the Southern states that have the most Trump voters are more obese (and in the Southern counties that went hard for Trump, the DEMOCRATIC voters are more obese too, as they are likely African-Americans, and African-Americans unfortunately have notably higher rates of severe obesity).

Meanwhile, in South Africa, which is all of 26% vaccinated, not only has there been no surge in Covid deaths, they are the lowest they've been in 18 months. And we are now more than three weeks into Omicron in SA - if a surge was coming, it would have started by now. Not to mention the fact that the SA doctors say the Omicron cases are far less severe. Not "30 percent less" (talk about a made-up number that is intended to sound scientific), but far less.

Not to mention the fact that the UK as of now has reported 1 (1!) Omicron death, and it was "with" the virus. Have any other Omicron deaths been reported anywhere? I haven't seen any.

Not to mention the fact that the Danish data and tons of anecdotal evidence (all those vaccinated and boosted outbreaks) suggests the vaccines have essentially NO protective effect against Omicron.

Meanwhile, non-Covid all-cause mortality continues to increase all over Western Europe (and probably in the United States too, though our data are too lousy to tell for a month-plus). That's the most basic marker of population health, and no one has offered any coherent explanation why this is happening NOW when it wasn't nine months ago.

I will gladly debate/discuss in an open forum anytime.

Peter Navarro is Anthony Fauci's worst nightmare
By John Dale Dunn

In Trump Time: A Journal of America's Plague Year
by Peter Navarro, Ph.D.

326 pages, hardcover $22.99, Kindle $2.99
ISBN-13: 978-1737478508
All Seasons Press, 2021

Peter Navarro is uniquely qualified to provide an insider's account of the 2020 events that circumscribe the COVID crisis. He was a senior adviser to President Trump during the campaign and through Trump's term in office on economic matters as assistant to the president and the director of the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy. Dr. Navarro graduated from Tufts, then got an MBA in Public Administration and a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard.

Dr. Navarro has published more than a dozen books on economic and foreign policy. His China trilogy — The Coming China Wars (2006), Death by China (2011), and Crouching Tiger (2015) — established him as one of the leading scholars and experts on Communist China and its war of economic aggression against America. Trump engaged him as an expert on the China threat, so he was a close aid and adviser on matters of import.

"Trump Time" alludes to Trump's energy and effort and intolerance of delays. Navarro gives plenty of examples of projects done in Trump Time in this book — projects that made a difference and were expedited.

After the COVID attack from Wuhan, Dr. Navarro became Defense Production Act policy coordinator in the Trump administration, sitting in on all the key committees. His insights and commentary are lucid, compelling, and insightful. He is also candid about who was and wasn't a problem during the COVID crisis year of 2020. His book is a rock-and-roll narrative and exposes Anthony Fauci as an audacious, mendacious, sociopathic dissembler — a malefactor who did "more damage to this nation, President Trump and the world than anyone else this side of the Bat Lady of Wuhan." That's just a little bit of the benefit of reading the book: since Navarro was with the president from the beginning, he gives a reader a sense of the problems confronted by the Trump administration, which attempted to recruit reliable supporters of the policy positions but got traitors instead and worse: weaklings, leakers, and saboteurs.

From the beginning, the closet NeverTrumps, the RINOs, the globalists, and the Deep State people from the Republican side were often worse enemies than hair-on-fire leftist Democrats. The result was musical chairs of national security key players but also policymakers and agency key people that repeatedly scuttled Trump's plans and bragged to their friends about it. Navarro was a loyal player, and he recounts the events and players who made things worse.

Navarro asserts that Fauci was responsible for the Wuhan lab production of COVID-19, but the lying Fauci doesn't get off with just that impressive act of malfeasance. Navarro accuses Fauci of withholding information early, when he knew the nature of the Wuhan lab bioweapons project, financed by his agency by means of a middleman.

Navarro first saw Fauci in the Situation Room on Jan. 27, 2020. Soon they were in a heated argument over whether to ban travel to and from China. Days earlier, Fauci had said the Wuhan virus was "a very, very low risk." In the Situation Room, he "echoed that sentiment."

"I've studied travel restrictions many, many times and [they] don't work," said Fauci.

In the end, Navarro prevailed to our benefit as Americans. Trump imposed the travel ban on Jan. 31, and Australia and New Zealand followed suit. The tale of 2020 is a repeating story of Fauci malfeasance, and Navarro reports the details.

Navarro's book is an insider's tale, with all sorts of goodies for political junkies. Navarro is not shy about exposing jerks, incompetents, weaklings, and betrayers on both sides of the aisle and in and out of the White House. I found his story entertaining and enlightening — he revealed people I previously thought well of as deceitful dissemblers.

Read the book to learn more about Fauci and the treachery of the Deep State.

Added to my lengthy reading list

Wonder why Fauci changed his mind about travel bans, especially when it is against countries with no deaths.

Of course they are just Africans

Maybe he treats them like beagles
