The End of the Pandemic Is Near
January 22, 2022 at 10:21 am EST By Taegan Goddard 69 Comments

A new article in the prestigious medical journal, The Lancet, says that after the current Omicron wave — perhaps by March — Covid-19 will continue but the end of the pandemic is near.

Joe Biden and the Dangers of Inbred Optimism
January 22, 2022 at 10:01 am EST By Taegan Goddard 54 Comments

Walter Shapiro:
“Joe Biden came to office with more relevant Washington experience than any president since the early days of the republic, with the possible exceptions of Lyndon Johnson and George H.W. Bush.

“With that background, Biden might have been expected to be a trifle cynical about the realities of 21st-century political power and the pace of change in Washington.

“Biden has had his successes as president,
beginning with the booming economy despite the pandemic.
But looking back on his first 364 days in the Oval Office, it is startling how many of the president’s missteps flow from a buoyant optimism reminiscent of a gambler who thinks he’s on a lucky streak.”

Last Anniversary of Roe v. Wade?

As Saturday marks the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court’s landmark decision that legalized abortion access in the U.S., advocates warn the ruling is “more at risk now than ever,” Axios reports.

Sinema Faces Blowback In Arizona -- GOOD!
January 22, 2022 at 9:45 am EST By Taegan Goddard 63 Comments

“Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) is growing increasingly isolated from some of her party’s most influential officials and donors after playing a key role in scuttling voting rights legislation that many Democrats consider essential to preserving democracy,” the AP reports.

“Sinema faces a vote of disapproval and possible censure from leaders of the Arizona Democratic Party on Saturday, a symbolic condemnation for the woman who just three years ago brought the party an Arizona Senate seat for the first time in a generation.”

NBC News: “So far, neither candidate has lured Trump off the sidelines after his first choice for the seat, Sean Parnell, dropped out amid scandal. Worried about backing a losing candidate, Trump is apt to withhold another endorsement until he has a clearer idea of who’s most likely to win.”

Putin Has Many Options on Ukraine
January 22, 2022 at 9:33 am EST By Taegan Goddard 23 Comments

“Troops, tanks, missiles and warships are on the move. Russian forces, slowly but surely, are surrounding Ukraine on three sides. The picture on the ground suggests that Russian President Vladimir Putin is about to launch a massive, multi-front offensive into a neighboring nation that for eight years has been slipping from his grasp into the hands of the West,” the Washington Post reports.

“But the former KGB lieutenant colonel — who has spent his career refining tactics to keep his adversaries off balance and exploit their differences — retains a plethora of options short of starting a full-blown, mass-casualty war that would put his own economy and soldiers at risk."

Nonetheless, from Foreign Affairs:
“The third and most likely outcome is a full-scale Russian offensive employing land, air, and sea power on all axes of attack.”

IF SO, RUSSIA MUST BE MADE TO PAY, AND BIDEN SEEMS LIKELY TO MAKE THEM PAY A LOT.

Germany Unlikely to Help Ukraine

Carlson Compares Vaccine Mandates to Nazi Experiments

January 22, 2022 at 9:26 am EST By Taegan Goddard 71 Comments

Tucker Carlson compared President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate to Nazi experiments on concentration camp captives.

Said Carlson: “After watching what the imperial Japanese army and the Nazis did in their medical experiments, I thought that American physicians agreed that compulsory medical care was unethical, it was immoral, and it could never be imposed on anyone. When did we forget that?”

MORE REPUBLICANS THAN DEMOCRATS ARE DYING OF COVID. DON'T FORGET THAT.

Facts Catch Up with Boris Johnson
January 22, 2022 at 9:15 am EST By Taegan Goddard 21 Comments

Associated Press: “The British prime minister’s career is littered with doctored quotes, tall tales, exaggerations and mistruths. When called out, he has generally offered an apologetic shrug or a guilty grin, and moved on. Plenty of people were willing to forgive him.

“At least until now. Revelations that the prime minister and his staff partied while Britain was under coronavirus restrictions have provoked public outrage and prompted many in the Conservative Party to consider dumping their leader.

“The Conservatives picked Johnson because his image as a cheerful rule-breaker — the naughty schoolboy of British politics — gave him a rare ability to connect with voters. Now, many are having second thoughts.”

CHEERFUL RULE BREAKER TRUMP IS ALSO FACING THE WALLS CLOSING IN.

Inflation Wipes Out Pay Increases for Most
January 22, 2022 at 9:04 am EST By Taegan Goddard 94 Comments

“It’s a good time to be an American worker. Wages are climbing higher, and they’re expected to stay that way for years,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“Employees can quit a job and likely find better pay elsewhere. Many companies are boosting salaries as they scramble to fill open positions.”

Washington Post:
“But in an unexpected twist, the same strong economic recovery that is emboldening workers is also driving up inflation, leaving most Americans with less spending power than they had a year ago.”

THIS WILL CHANGE, HOWEVER, AND THE BOOMING AMERICAN ECONOMY, THE ENVY OF THE WORLD, WILL TAKE OVER.

It’s Ron Klain’s Turn in the Barrel
January 22, 2022 at 9:01 am EST By Taegan Goddard 69 Comments

“As Joe Biden limps into his second year in office, a common criticism has emerged among fellow party members: his top advisers are too insular, rigid and self-assured,” Politico reports.

“At the center of it all is Biden’s chief of staff, Ron Klain.

“For months, moderate Democrats in Congress have complained that Klain is overly deferential to their liberal colleagues, to the point where some members and Hill staff privately said he needed to be replaced. With Biden’s domestic agenda stalling out, the Covid pandemic lingering and inflation rising, second guessing of his leadership is now coming from a wider swath of the party and even some corners of the administration.”

TIME TO CAN HIM AND GET THE DEMS BETTER ON MESSAGE.

Alex Pareene:
“This is why I find the tenor of discussion around Covid-19 restrictions genuinely bewildering. There basically aren’t any. The United States is powering through the Omicron wave with its usual enforced individualism. The hard restrictions on our activities are, for the most part, NOT MANDATED OR ENFORCED by the state acting at the behest of liberals who refuse to go back to normal because they are addicted to panic and quarantine;
NO, the limits are imposed by the virus that isn’t going away.

Putin has what is call in geo-strategic parlance "local superiority". That means even though the US and her NATO allies has the larges military force in the world it cannot be effectively employed in the Ukrainian.

These facts are known to Putin. There really nothing to stop him from invading.

Tribute: Remembering "Baskets," "Life with Louie" star Louie Anderson, who died Friday at 68.

Many of us first saw Louie Anderson on screen as a flower delivery man in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” a cameo role that comes late in the 1986 movie. But the first time he made an impression on me was in the late 1980s, when Anderson would fill in for Joan Rivers on her short-lived Fox talker “The Late Show.”

He was funny, he was engaging and brought a real personality and humanity when he would show up to guest host. Years later, I asked him about that experience.

“When I came to Los Angeles, I had three goals: Do the ‘Tonight Show,’ get my name on the Comedy Store, and to host my own talk show,” Anderson told me in 2018. “Really, in the first few years I was able to do all those things. And I loved them all [although] I realized that I did not want to be a talk show host.”

I think the salient question is "Why hasn't he invaded yet?" From what we know here are a couple of his goals.

1. Restore the imperial Russian Empire. (Keep in mind how strong imperialism is in Russia.)

2. Last but not least. Embarrass the United States and knock them off the superpower board.

This will present a whole bunch of political and economic benefits.

And the easiest way for Russia to knock he US out of the game is to work on Germany with it's vulnerability to the K2 Nordstrom pipeline.

Not just Germany, but most of Western Europe, since virtually all of them are shutting down nuke plants and buying into the green energy bullshit.

This is exactly why the EU countries led by France are entering into talks with Russia without the US.

We are part of their problem and not part of their solution and they know it.

'Trump could end up in an orange jumpsuit' as the walls close in and his world 'crumbles' lollipop

Tom Boggioni

January 22, 2022

In interviews with the Guardian's Ed Pilkington, two people who have been closely associated with Donald Trump going back years claimed that his whole world is falling apart after the Supreme Court turned its back on him and New York Attorney General appears to have enough evidence of fraud by the Trump Organization, the former president and his children Don Jr. and Ivanka Trump.

According to his report, Trump built a golf course in 2006 that set in motion a string of financial statements about his properties over the years that demonstrated a Trump propensity for over-valuing them and that, in turn, raised red flags that drew the attention of NY AG Leticia James.

With James issuing a statement saying, "We have uncovered significant evidence that suggests Donald J Trump and the Trump Organization falsely and fraudulently valued multiple assets and misrepresented those values to financial institutions for economic benefit,” Trump's former lawyer and biographer claim the ex-president's past has finally caught up to him.

According to former Trump attorney and "fixer" Michael Cohen, "The House of Trump is crumbling.”

As Pilkington reports, "Cohen, who was released in November from house arrest having had his own legal difficulties, has skin in this game. It was his testimony to the House oversight committee in February 2019 that sounded the alarm over allegedly inflated evaluations in Trump’s financial statements, which in turn prompted James to open her investigation the following month."

According to Cohen, "My testimony before the committee as well as my subsequent cooperation with the New York attorney general has led to this day. We are seeing individuals who have continuously escaped responsibility for their actions finally being held accountable.”

Biographer Tim O'Brien claimed that Trump should be even more worried about being investigated by Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, who the columnist described as a "tenacious and relentless prosecutor equipped with a large and highly experienced team of investigators."

"Bragg is asking exactly the same questions as James: did the Trump Organization commit accounting, bank, tax or insurance fraud? The critical difference is that Bragg’s investigation is criminal, threatening Trump not with fines but prison time," Pilkington wrote with O'Brien contributing, "Trump could end up in an orange jumpsuit at the end of that one."

"His book TrumpNation, a 2005 biography that raised doubts about Trump’s actual wealth in eerily similar terms to the James and Bragg investigations today, so irked the real estate developer that he sued O’Brien for billions of dollars," the columnist elaborated. "O’Brien’s lawyers deposed Trump as part of his defense. Over two days they managed to do something that has rarely been done before or since – they got the celebrity to acknowledge, no fewer than 30 times, that he had lied."

According to O'Brien, "This is behavior that Trump has been engaging with since he was a toddler, frankly,” before adding, "There was ample fodder in my book for prosecutors to pursue, but nobody picked it up. Law enforcement simply didn’t take Donald Trump seriously until it was too late.”

The Red Scare of the 21st century

Progressivism and the History of Communist Thought

The ideology of progressivism is now predominant in contemporary American left-wing politics. A symptom of our “1776 Moment” is that the Democrats, once stalwart liberals, have become progressives, which means, in fact, they have become socialists. Progressivism’s origins are found in the thought of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Marx and Engels argued that as technology changed so too did the economic means of production. The means of production creates specific economic classes. In each epoch—slavery, feudalism, and capitalism—the classes were perpetually and dialectically opposed to one another.

Under capitalism, the bourgeoisie, or the middle class, owned the means of production and exploited the proletariat, the working class, by extracting surplus value from their labor. For Marx and Engels, the capitalists would always strive to maximize surplus value, which causes accumulation of capital and ever-greater exploitation of the working class, until ultimately the working class overthrows the capitalists. This would then result in the common ownership of the means of production, and thus class would disappear, resulting in communism, the abolition of private property, and the end of alienation. Under communism, the state would no longer be necessary and would wither away.

________

You people think that even the richest people are communists

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Even worse is they want a new revolution.

Our 1776 Moment: Either a Liberal or Progressive America

We live at a “1776 Moment” where our governing principles, law, and society are changing into something America has never known.

By Bradley A. Thayer

January 21, 2022

There are many significant moments in American history that have informed the principles of America’s tradition of liberalism, but not since the American founding have we lived in one so important. The United States is at a “1776 Moment” of ideological transformation. The American Revolution of 1776 marked a change of political ideology from constitutional monarchy to liberalism. Today, the ideological transformation is from liberalism to progressivism.

Like its antecedent, our “1776 Moment” was decades in the making. Unlike its predecessor, it is more like a putsch or revolution from above, where a progressive elite first targets and then replaces a liberal one. The consequences are dramatic: the truths of 1776 have become the crimes of 2022. What has occurred over the last generation should be considered a revolution, even if it is too soon to tell whether it is a successful and lasting one.

Sure all you have to do is answer a couple of question.

1. Is the accusations you threw against Trump true and is it commonly known to be true.
2.Is Trump a public figure. Currently he isn't.
3. Do you know that the accusation is untrue.
4. You spread the untruth with malice.

Id say with you that's a big 10-4. You cottage on the Santee river maybe a Trump property when all is said and done.
