I started going through the comment thread from yesterday's covid post and got some wonderful responses
- The first comment stated this: "People like you contributed more than Sleepy Joe Biden Scott asshole."
Then went on to talk about how Joe Biden will address the nation after we saw 1,000,000 cases in a single day. As if somehow "addressing the nation" makes Joe Biden a covid hero or somehow make his failure any less of a failure. Not even sure what the "People like you" comments meant... because it wasn't explained.
- Up next: There’s a simple reason why Donald Trump spent hours watching television as the seat of our Democracy was violently under attack and refused to call the National Guard. He orchestrated it. Merrick Garland must make it clear that he be held accountable
Or perhaps it's because the National Guard is a state military activated by Governors (or in the case of DC the mayor). A president does have authority under certain emergency situations to engage the national guard outside of the command of a Governor, but the Federal Government is not allowed by law to use the National Guard against any American citizens. So he did not have any power to do what is suggested in this comment. But apparently by not breaking the law, he broke the law in the mind of this person.
- The there was classic repeated lie in both bold font and all caps : BY ALL COUNTS, MORE PEOPLE DIED IN COUNTIES THAT VOTED HEAVILY FOR TRUMP THAN IN COUNTIES THAT VOTED HEAVILY FOR BIDEN.
This ignores the fact that just last week I offered a post that looked specifically at two different states and found that counties that voted for Trump has almost identical amounts of deaths as Biden counties in Pennsylvania (a 50/50 state). While in New Jersey, the counties that voted for Biden had five times more deaths than those that voted for Trump. I was willing (unlike those who make the opposite claims) to show my work and provide my sources. Since then I did similar calculations in New York and found it to be similar to New Jersey. Way more deaths in Biden counties than Trump counties. So far nobody has shown me any math that proves differently or why these three states would be outliers.
- Later we see in bold font: WELCOME TO ANOTHER WONDERFUL MORNING as we continue to expose THE COWARDLY LIES AND TRAITORIOUS MISINFORMATION PROMULGATED BY TRUMP AND HIS DISHONEST ALLIES. CH BEING ONE SUCH.
Again, no need to bother telling anyone what was incorrect or a lie about the post in question, which was an entirely accurate post about Covid numbers. Was the "misinformation" citing real numbers from real sources (rather than long winded opinions based on lies) or was it the fact that I suggested (accurately) that other countries are doing a better job combating Covid with larger more diversified strategies? Not sure. But it remains plain that this is a person who doesn't actually read or comprehend anything other than what he finds in a very specific location or two.
Oh and the lovely: Yep Lil Schitty.....Trumps lack of leadership has killed 830K Americans while you still think the virus is Biden's cross to bear!!!!!
So a virus that started in China, spread to every corner of the globe and is currently on the Omicron variant with a record setting one million cases in a single day here in the United States is all the fault of the "bad orange man" who has not been President for nearly a year. Oh, and the current President who argued that we should elect him because he would stop Covid holds no accountability at all. It's still all the fault of the "bad orange man". This is just a mental health issue folks.
- Then word salad: I use information about everything, and because I'm not afraid to ask a question about economic recovery and what experts know, more than I did before. It's called education kputz
This is coming from someone who may or may not have a high school diploma and no college who routinely argues with me and others (with degrees) about statistics or economics. Given I had a Computer science major and double minor (math/statistics and Business/economics) it's odd that this particular High School grad self proclaimed genius would demand he is better educated than others.

So, the test kit's aren't "free" after all...
Some COVID-19 at-home test kits will cost more – if you can find them.
Walmart, Kroger and Amazon had been selling over-the-counter tests "at cost" with a discount of up to 35% from retail prices for the last three months as part of a deal with the Biden administration.
Walmart said in a statement to USA TODAY that the program ended in mid-December, but that it held the price of the Abbott BinaxNOW kits at $14 through the holidays. The price increased to $19.88 on Tuesday for the two-test kits.
At Kroger, the price of the two-test BinaxNOW antigen kits is now $23.99.
“We fulfilled our commitment to the Biden Administration to sell at cost for 100 days and that pricing program has now phased out and retail pricing has been reinstated,” Kroger said in a statement to USA TODAY.

I did some of and found out my SAT was 1591.
Here we will tell you if we think 1591 is a good SAT score. We will compare your SAT score of 1591 to others that took the test and determine if 1591 is good enough to get an acceptance letter from a college or university. The idea is to put your SAT score of 1591 in context to better understand what it means.
There are two parts to an SAT score; the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (ERW) score and the Math score. When you ask if 1591 is a good SAT score, we assume you mean the total score (ERW + Math).
The percentiles change a little from month to month, but we estimate that a SAT score of 1591 means that of everyone that took the SAT, approximately less than 1 percent did better than you, and more than 99 percent did worse than you.
Imagine that we lined up everyone based on their SAT score with the person with best score first in line, then second best, and so on. Next, the people in line can choose where to go to school based on their place in line. If your SAT score is 1591, then less than 1 percent of people would be able to choose before you and more than 99 percent would choose after you.
We divided all the universities and colleges in The United States into 6 tiers. The higher tier school you can get into, the better the education, the teachers, the chance of graduating, the post college starting salary, your lifetime earnings, and so on.
Tier 1: Best Schools
Tier 2: Almost Best Schools
Tier 3: Above Average Schools
Tier 4: Average Schools
Tier 5: Below Average Schools
Tier 6: Worst Schools
If the SAT score was the only criteria used to determine what school you would be accepted into, then we think that an SAT score of 1591 would get you into a Tier 1 university or college.
The word salad was in English. But it escapes your mind Scott.

Roger...
Are you absolutely positive that your SAT score was 1591?
Just curious... because today, 1591 out of a possible 1600 score is almost perfect. But back when we took the SAT, the SAT score was out of a possible 2400 points, not 1600.
So your score would actually score out to about 1080 by today's standards.... which is slightly above the average of 1000. 1591 was not 99% back in our day.
But nice try!
btw... my PSAT had an equivalency score of just under 2000 (1990) or something in that area. Only a handful of people got more than 2000 points and I was one of the top 10 in a class of almost 400 people.

Alky, in your era High School grades were most commonly scored with letter grades. College on a scale from 0.0 to 4.0. A 3.5 was an "A" all day.
Your GPA could never have been a 1591. Not possible. beacuse it's simply the wrong unit of measure.
Nor could your SAT score have been that high. Not because a 1591 wasn't in fact achievable, but because you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about, and you're doing an easily disprovable job of trying to fake it.

Although the CDC reported multiple days of cases instead of a single-day increase, it was the largest multi-day increase of newly reported cases since the pandemic began in March 2020. The CDC reported 254,814 new cases in Florida last week, with a positivity rate of more than 20 percent.
The last multi-day record was set during the height of the Delta wave in August when 56,036 cases were reported. This was the same month Florida began reporting cases by the “case date” rather than the date the case was logged into the health system, resulting in a number of cases back-filling over several days. This was a crucial factor in greenlighting the resumption of in-person learning in schools and a significant maneuver on the part of Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, who has worked to cover-up the health crisis engulfing the state from the outset.

Prosecutors Move Quickly on January 6 Cases

New York Times:
“The government estimates that as many as 2,500 people who took part in the events of Jan. 6 could be charged with federal crimes. That includes more than 1,000 incidents that prosecutors believe could be assaults.”
“As of this week, more than 225 people have been accused of attacking or interfering with the police that day. About 275 have been charged with what the government describes as the chief political crime on Jan. 6: obstructing Congress’s duty to certify the 2020 presidential vote count. A little over 300 people have been charged with petty crimes alone, mostly trespassing and disorderly conduct.
“But a big question hangs over the prosecutions: Will the Justice Department move beyond charging the rioters themselves?”

This is what makes the 1/6 Congressional Committee such an abuse of power, likely unconstitutional:
There's no pretense they're investigating US citizens to aid in the lawmaking function. It's to supplement the DOJ criminal investigation because they're unhappy with the results.
Congress has no power to investigate the political activities and associations of US citizens in order to run a parallel criminal probe. The Supreme Court chided Congress twice for that during the McCarthy era. The 1/6 Committee itself is undemocratic:

Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday pledged to pursue the perpetrators of the Jan. 6 assault at "any level," saying federal authorities would "follow the facts wherever they lead."
"The Justice Department remains committed to holding all January 6th perpetrators, at any level, accountable under law — whether they were present that day or were otherwise criminally responsible for the assault on our democracy," Garland said in a much anticipated speech as the nation readies to mark the grim anniversary of the deadly Capitol attacks. "We will follow the facts wherever they lead."
Garland's remarks come as the attorney general faces mounting pressure from lawmakers and others to take a more aggressive action in the Jan. 6 inquiry, including some who have urged that former President Donald Trump be held accountable for inciting the attack.
The attorney general did not refer to Trump or other former administration officials, but he acknowledged the mounting public sentiment.

The GOP leader said in a brief interview that he would be open to entertaining changes to the 1887 law, which allows members of Congress to dispute election results.”
Said McConnell:
“It obviously has some flaws. And it is worth, I think, discussing.”
TRUMP WILL BE FURIOUS.
Joe Biden Has Spent Over 25 Percent of his Presidency on Vacation.
The President of the United States has been AWOL as the country continues through crisis upon crisis.
Joe Biden has spent 95 of his 348 days President on vacation, mostly in Delaware. That equates to a quarter of the Biden regime’s first year in office, at the time of writing, being spent doing anything other than being President during one of the most crisis-ridden times in modern human history.
Biden went back to Delaware just two and a half weeks after being sworn into office. His trips back and forth to his home state for “personal time” have been celebrated by the far-left media. They congratulate the 79-year-old for chasing his dogs around but at least he’s not playing golf.
By October 2021, Biden had sought refuge in Delaware at least 25 times. Only on one vacation did he take time away from relaxing to do his job, when he visited Dover Air Force Base for the homecoming of the 11 service members killed in a suicide bomb attack in Kabul, Afghanistan. The service members were murdered in the terror attack during Biden’s failed exit from Afghanistan and Biden was mostly noted for repeatedly checking his watch that day, for when he could leave.
Biden choosing to vacation during the fall of Kabul is just one example of the many times the President has disappeared during a major international crisis.
Other examples include his choice to vacation instead of visiting the southern border amidst the largest organized crime, human smuggling and trafficking in modern history. The Biden regime has overseen a more than 110 percent increase apprehensions of unaccompanied minors along the US southern border with Mexico.
Not only is Biden failing to take personal time to visit the southern border, but he’s also ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to stop arresting the tsunami of human smugglers that his inaction has created.
Biden has further chosen to stay inside his $2.74 million Wilmington, Delaware beach house as his office claims the COVID-19 pandemic is going to kill Americans throughout the winter months.
Every time Biden decides to go to Delaware, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control are forced to shut off the immediate area. Local law enforcement attempt to keep the shutdowns as brief as possible, as they inconvenience local residents, but have no real control over how much the Biden’s consistently inconvenience their neighbors in Delaware with their consistent vacations.
Most recently, the President of the United States returned to Washington, D.C. during a snow storm, meaning no one else was working, and his appearance in the nation’s capital was precisely just that: an appearance.
https://thenationalpulse.com/2022/01/04/joe-biden-has-spent-over-25-percent-of-his-presidency-on-vacation/
Because January 6th was an unprecedented attack on the seat of our democracy, we understand that there is broad public interest in our investigation," Garland said. "We understand that there are questions about how long the investigation will take, and about what exactly we are doing. Our answer is, and will continue to be, the same answer we would give with respect to any ongoing investigation: as long as it takes and whatever it takes for justice to be done – consistent with the facts and the law...
"I understand that this may not be the answer some are looking for. But we will and we must speak through our work. Anything else jeopardizes the viability of our investigations and the civil liberties of our citizens," he said.
Investigation: From Oklahoma City to Jan. 6: How the US government failed to stop the rise of domestic extremism
Garland also referred to a growing and dangerous polarization in the country, where Americans have expressed deep concerns about the future of the nation's democracy, with some suggesting that violence against the government can be justified.
Across partisan lines, more than 8 in 10 Republicans, Democrats and independents say they are worried about the future of America's democracy, a USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll found. They disagree on whether the Jan. 6 mob represented an effort to undermine democracy or to fix it. Eighty-five percent of Democrats call the rioters "criminals." Two-thirds of Republicans say, "They went too far, but they had a point."
A separate Washington Post/University of Maryland poll found that 1 in 3 believed violence against the government can be supported at times.
He spoke very clearly and nonpartisan remarks, like the Attorney general should say.

Mona Charen:
“The most threatening aspect of January 6th was not the ferocious attack on the Capitol but the response of Republican officeholders thereafter.
Even after the unleashing of medieval mob violence;
even after the erection of a gallows;
even after members had been forced to run for their lives;
even after the deaths and injuries;
even after all of that and more,
147 Republican members of Congress voted not to certify Joe Biden as the winner of the presidency.
“The transformation of the GOP from a political party into an authoritarian personality cult became official that day.

Most people who are intelligent, and have studied about politics, have become liberals.
I have conservative friend who are very educated and liberal friends who are very educated. Interestingly most of my conservative friends are highly successful, while many of my liberal friends struggle in lower paying jobs that come when you finish college with a degree in "English" or "Philosophy".
I have very few friends interestly who are not well educated. I mainly am around others who at least have some post secondary degree.
But unlike you hating conservatives, I don't hate liberals. I have many friends who are liberals and we seem to get along just fine and can generally even discuss politics without insults or calling anyone "crazy" for their disagreement.
President Biden will speak about the responsibility that he believes former President Trump had in the Capitol attack on Thursday, the one-year anniversary of the insurrection, according to the White House.
That will go over like a fart in church for a majority of Americans. The far left who live in perpetual hate will probably respond positively to that.

Watching Merrick Garland's remarks right now on Jan 6 DOJ investigations and it's hard to dispute that Biden's admin is excessively preoccupied with punishing Americans for non-compliance with its agenda. Very disturbing. Trump was supposedly a fascists but never did that.

ROFLMFAO !!!
In the year since, most Republicans (with some extremely honorable exceptions) unlike Scott Johnson schizophrenia have descended further into cultishness.
Yes, Trump was a buffoon and incompetent and unfamiliar with the levers of power—and yet this clown nearly brought a 232-year-old democracy to its knees. Had it not been for 1) a half-dozen or so Republican officeholders at the state level who demonstrated basic integrity, and 2) the unwillingness of Mike Pence to perform as Trump had commanded, the outcome could have been very different. As George F. Will said, “I would like to see January 6th burned into the American mind as firmly as 9/11 because it was that scale of a shock to the system.”
The most threatening aspect of January 6th was not the ferocious attack on the Capitol but the response of Republican officeholders thereafter. Even after the unleashing of medieval mob violence; even after the erection of a gallows; even after members had been forced to run for their lives; even after the deaths and injuries; even after all of that and more, 147 Republican members of Congress voted not to certify Joe Biden as the winner of the presidency. The transformation of the GOP from a political party into an authoritarian personality cult became official that day. McCarthy’s bootlicking visit to Mar-a-Lago in late January 2021 merely provided the visual.
Trump was a buffoon and incompetent, but he used the big lie to get support from Scott Johnson MD schizophrenia squad.

It's red meat for the base, plain and simple. I would expect that even a significant portion of the left quietly think Biden is a buffoon, but their searing, spittle-flecked hatred of Trump vastly overshadows that.
Ultimately this administration has failed by every objective measure. All they have to try and save their asses is Jan. 6, and those who will buy that rhetoric are already on board. They convert no one with anymore Jan. 6 histrionics. Even with prime-time hearings (which is exactly why they're attempting that ploy).
GEORGE WILL: Scott, I honor his despite being a conservative Republicam
Until you get your mind back I will never honor you.
GEORGE WILL Well, it's controversial for one reason. We have something new in American history. We have a political party defined by the terror it feels for its own voters. That's the Republican Party right now.
Every elected official is frightened of his voters, therefore doesn't respect his voters and doesn't like his voters and is afraid that a vote for this would be seen as an insult to the 45th president.
There's no reason -- I mean, McConnell has a point. There are going to be lots of investigations. Journalists are going to go through this. There are 450-some criminal charges being brought with 100 more to come, and there's going to be lots of information about this.
I would like to see January 6th burned into the American mind as firmly as 9/11 because it was that scale of a shock to the system. I think there will be a commission, but it is controversial for that reason.

Joe Rogan’s Ratings Crush Mainstream Media
Just how popular is Joe Rogan? A viral post shows just how much more listeners Joe Rogan may have compared to the mainstream media.
“The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast is a deep dive into a wide variety of topics, from UFC to politics. The show often features controversial guests, and even more controversial topics. And listeners love it – it is the most popular podcast in the U.S.
Unlike many on the mainstream media, -UFC fighter and standup comedian is not afraid to speak his mind. In a recent show, Rogan called out the “deep state” and Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her husband’s stock picks.
The podcast host also spoke candidly about his COVID treatment, which included taking the controversial Ivermectin drug. These comments prompted a series of mainstream media hit pieces against him, alleging that Rogan was taking “horse dewormer.”
However, unlike other shows, Joe Rogan might be just too big to cancel. Internet users are sharing a viral social media post that puts the size of the podcast in perspective. The viral post compares the viewership from Joe Rogan’s podcast to that of some of the legacy media shows.
Rogan Dwarfs Mainstream Media
One thing can be certain – things are not looking good for the mainstream media. Specifically, the post uses the data from the third quarter of 2021.
The numbers, which are available to the public, show Fox News dominating TV viewership. In particular, the first five most-watched shows are Fox News shows. Tucker Carlson is ahead of the rest, with 3.24 million viewers per episode.
On the other hand, MSBNC’s Rachel Maddow has the most viewed non-Fox show. The Rachel Maddow Show averaged 2.2 million viewers per episode.
Fresh data paints a similar picture. Tucker Carlson was still number one in the fourth quarter of 2021. Rachel Madow still has the most popular show from a network other than Fox.
All these numbers, however, pale in comparison with Rogan’s 11 million downloads per episode. However, the number is actually just a rough estimate. Spotify, the podcasting platform that hosts Rogan, does not release viewership numbers.
The estimate comes from Rogan himself. In one of his interviews, he said that he gets some 200 downloads per month. With 18 episodes per month, that comes to an average of 11 million per episode.
Rogan’s Young Audience
If those numbers are true, they suggest that mainstream media is in trouble. That is especially true due to the demographics.
The average viewer of Joe Rogan’s show is much younger than the average viewer of CNN or FOX. One survey put the average age of its listeners at 24. On the other hand, the average cable viewer is over 60 years old!
In terms of demographics, Rogan also beats the popular late-night show format. The average viewer of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is 42.3 years old. With an average of 2.95 million viewers, Colbert hosts the most popular late-night show.
All this suggests that there is a huge audience out there for alternative views. That means that the media space of tomorrow will be nothing like what it is now.

The Biden administration has yet to release a report that details the number of illegal immigrants removed from the United States in 2021, keeping the public in the dark about its handling of the immigration crisis.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement did not release its annual report in 2021, a departure from standard agency practice since at least 2011. In each of the last nine years, ICE released the report in the final weeks of the calendar year, most recently on Dec. 23, 2020 during the Trump administration.
It is unclear whether ICE has completed the report, which provides a lengthy summary of the agency’s enforcement and removal operations, as well as immigration-related security threats. A spokeswoman for the immigration agency told the Washington Free Beacon a release date for the report has not been determined.

GOP Lawmakers Still Won’t Say If Biden Was Elected

The former President and Jim Jordan may be two of the perpetrators. Including Trump even though he never set foot on the Capitol.
Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday defended the Justice Department's approach to prosecuting those involved in the Jan. 6 riot, signaling the potential for charges for those who never set foot in the Capitol.
"The actions we have taken thus far will not be our last. The Justice Department remains committed to holding all January six perpetrators at any level, accountable under law, whether they were present that day, or were otherwise criminally responsible for the assault on our democracy. We will follow the facts wherever they lead," Garland said on the eve of the attack's one-year anniversary.
The attorney general's remarks came as Democratic lawmakers have voiced impatience with the Department of Justice's (DOJ) apparent unwillingness to target leaders who may have prompted the attack on the Capitol.
In recent weeks, the House Jan. 6 Select Committee have even signaled that its considering criminal referrals to DOJ if it finds evidence that former President Trump or members of his inner circle violated the law in connection with the riot.

A year after the worst attack on the U.S. Capitol since the British burned it nearly 208 years ago, the FBI hasn't stopped working to identify the rioters who stormed the building on Jan. 6, 2021.
Agents and analysts are combing through tens of thousands of photos and videos, using facial recognition software and cellphone records that allow them to plot the movement of people inside the Capitol — the largest such use of that technique.
Federal criminal charges have been filed against 705 people, and about one fourth of them have pleaded guilty. Judges have imposed sentences on roughly 70 defendants, and 31 of them have been ordered to serve time behind bars for periods ranging from a few days to just over five years.
"The Justice Department remains committed to holding all January 6th perpetrators, at any level, accountable under law, whether they were present that day or were otherwise criminally responsible for the assault on our democracy," Attorney General Merrick Garland said Wednesday in remarks thanking department officials for their work on the riot cases. "We will follow the facts wherever they lead."

The party of 'Karens': The new Democratic Party alienates nonwhite voters
As President Biden’s approval ratings have tanked with nonwhite voters, the Democratic Party increasingly has become dominated by liberal white women who virtue-signal with suburban lawn signs and then henpeck people in supermarkets to pull their face masks up over their noses. Or, put more simply, the Democratic Party is at risk of becoming a party of “Karens.” Recent polling suggests that Hispanic and Black voters are abandoning the party — many of these individuals are being harmed by the surging inflation, anti-business COVID measures, and exploding crime rates in urban areas brought about by a year of left-wing measures.
For more than a decade, Democrats worked to build a voting base composed of minorities and unmarried women. After Donald Trump’s 2020 loss, it would appear the mission was being accomplished. White voters dropped from 81 percent of the electorate in 2000 to just 67 percent two decades later. Meanwhile, Biden carried a whopping 63 percent of single women in 2020.
However, poor public policy over the past year is already casting the idea of a continuing Democratic majority in doubt. Recent polling suggests that Hispanic and Black Americans are more likely to vote as individuals than as aggrieved racial blocs.
In February, nearly 70 percent of Hispanic voters supported Biden — by November, that number had crashed to below 50 percent. In early polling for the 2022 midterms, Hispanic voters split 37-37 percent between the two major parties in their congressional preferences. There are many fingers that could be pointed at why, but two factors seem most significant. First, to borrow a phrase from James Carville, “It’s the economy, stupid.” Record high stock prices and artificially low unemployment rates can’t paper up rampant inflation, supply shortages and decreasing numbers of employees in the workforce. Among a population that owns their own businesses at parity rates with whites and whose average incomes are catching up with the majority population, the wider economy is more than an abstract concept. Second, the cancer of wokeness is downright anathema to Hispanic Americans. Forty percent find the phrase “Latinx” offensive and just 2 percent of the group actually uses the phrase.
The panic must be real for Democrats. Not only are émigrés from socialism among Venezuelan and Cuban Americans increasingly voting Republican, so are Mexican Americans — especially in South Texas. The disapproval rate for Biden among the group is higher than that among whites.
Among Black voters, Biden’s approval had fallen from 85 percent to 67 percent by September and has continued to slide. The increasingly vapid demands of the urbane upper-middle class often harm the communities that liberals claim to help. NIMBYism drives up housing prices for minority residents. “Defund the police” rhetoric has led to major cuts in law enforcement in some cities, as violent crime soars and quality of life declines. Families in cities such as Chicago, which has experienced more murders in 2021 than any year since 1996, are forced to live with shootings that occur routinely in public areas — in some cases, young children have been killed by flying bullets. Black Democrats are 20 percent more likely to support more police funding than their white counterparts.
A year after the worst attack on the U.S. Capitol since the British burned it nearly 208 years ago, the FBI hasn't stopped working to identify the rioters who stormed the building on Jan. 6, 2021.
I'd say the bomb blast back in the 80's counts as a pretty nasty attack, alky. But it was done by leftists, so you approve. In fact, you clap like a fucking trained seal.
But anyway, I wouldn't make such a big deal out of Jan. 6.
"Some people did something" to borrow a phrase from the Islamic terror caucus of the HOR.
During Trump's speech, members of the Proud Boys began making their way from the Washington Monument to the Capitol. Trump encouraged the crowd to "fight like hell" and to march the mile-and-a-half to the Capitol to "peacefully" protest the election results.
If someone in public office refused to say whether they were or were not a racist,
they would not be worthy of that office.
They would have the free speech right to refuse to say that,
but the public has the right to DEMAND that they be removed from office.
That's also a free speech right.

Trump doesn't need a violent victory DANCE because.
On January 6, 2021, when white supremacists, militia members, and MAGA faithful took inspiration from the President and stormed the Capitol in order to overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election, leaving legislators and the Vice-President essentially held hostage, we ceased to be a full democracy. Instead, we now inhabit a liminal status that scholars call “anocracy.” That is, for the first time in two hundred years, we are suspended between democracy and autocracy. And that sense of uncertainty radically heightens the likelihood of episodic bloodletting in America, and even the risk of civil war.
This is the compelling argument of “How Civil Wars Start,” a new book by Barbara F. Walter, a political scientist at the University of California San Diego. Walter served on an advisory committee to the C.I.A. called the Political Instability Task Force, which studies the roots of political violence in nations from Sri Lanka to the former Yugoslavia. Citing data compiled by the Center for Systemic Peace, which the task force uses to analyze political dynamics in foreign countries, Walter explains that the “honor” of being the oldest continuous democracy is now held by Switzerland, followed by New Zealand. In the U.S., encroaching instability and illiberal currents present a sad picture. As Walter writes, “We are no longer a peer to nations like Canada, Costa Rica, and Japan.”
In her book and in a conversation for this week’s New Yorker Radio Hour, Walter made it clear that she wanted to avoid “an exercise in fear-mongering”; she is wary of coming off as sensationalist. In fact, she takes pains to avoid overheated speculation and relays her warning about the potential for civil war in clinical terms. Yet, like those who spoke up clearly about the dangers of global warming decades ago, Walter delivers a grave message that we ignore at our peril. So much remains in flux. She is careful to say that a twenty-first-century American civil war would bear no resemblance to the consuming and symmetrical conflict that was played out on the battlefields of the eighteen-sixties. Instead she foresees, if the worst comes about, an era of scattered yet persistent acts of violence: bombings, political assassinations, destabilizing acts of asymmetric warfare carried out by extremist groups that have coalesced via social media. These are relatively small, loosely aligned collections of self-aggrandizing warriors who sometimes call themselves “accelerationists.” They have convinced themselves that the only way to hasten the toppling of an irredeemable, non-white, socialist republic is through other extra-political means.
Gerymanding and Jim Crow 2.0
Hate to tell you, the old dem party voter demographic is making up a lot of that new Indy voter. Many are also now gop. Trump brought them in.
Hey Roger...
Do you remember when the Antifa/BLM actually overran and occupied a police station and several blocks of Capital Hill here in Seattle. They attacked and injured multiple police officers who eventually had to just abandon the station.
They put up armed guards and wouldn't even let residents or business owners come and go? Multiple people were shot and two people (including a child) were killed by gunfire in all of that?
I remember you cheering for them, demanding the killing people in the name of criminal drug addicts was perfectly acceptable. That you can actually follow through with and armed (with guns) insurrection and demand that the government is no longer in charge of you...
as long as you are liberal scumbags killing people in the name of dead drug addict criminals. How many of those people did the Justice Department hunt down and charge?

Ted Cruz Apologizes for Calling Capitol Rioters ‘Terrorists’
January 6, 2022 at 10:52 pm EST By Taegan Goddard 250 Comments
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) went on Tucker Carlon’s show to say it had been a “mistake” for him to call the Jan. 6 attack at the Capitol a “terrorist attack” after he received pushback from supporters of former President Trump.
Said Cruz: “As a result of my sloppy phrasing, it’s caused a lot of people to misunderstand what I meant. What I was referring to was the limited number of people who engaged in violent attacks against police officers.”
Jonathan Chait: “Cruz thought the sweet spot for him was to position himself as a champion of Trump’s non-violent efforts to discard the election results while strongly condemning its violent aspects. Not for the first time, and probably not for the last, he misjudged the political market.”
Aaron Blake: “It did not go quite so well. But it did at least provide an extremely apt picture of the current state of the post-Jan. 6 GOP — on the evening of Jan. 6 itself, no less.”
