Trump still leads all comers

Poll: Trump leads Biden, Harris in 2024 match-ups
Former President Trump is leading President Biden in a hypothetical 2024 match-up, according to a new Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey released exclusively to The Hill on Monday.
If the 2024 presidential election were held right now, the poll finds Trump getting 47 percent support compared to 41 percent for Biden. Twelve percent of voters are undecided.
Vice President Harris performs even worse in a hypothetical match-up with Trump. Forty-nine percent said they would choose Trump, while 38 percent said they would support Harris.

What is even more amusing is that Trump is currently the only politician from either Party that has a positive favorability rating, sitting at 48 favorable to 44 unfavorable. Biden (-12) and Harris (-13) are both underwater by double digits. Apparently being a "war time President" has not led to any better approvals for the dementia patient in chief.

Meanwhile, while the left is trying to figure out a way to get Trump arrested, the general public is finding it in their hearts to reengaged the idea of the ex-President becoming the President again. Apparently the all the attacks are simply backfiring.  As some of us have always knew they would. Around 60% of Republicans still back Trump as the nominee... and why wouldn't they? He is the best chance to dethrone Biden.

What world do you live in?

Do you really believe that all of these polls are wrong? 14 out of the past 19 have shown Trump ahead and two have shown it tied. Only one poll shows Biden winning by enough (Federalist back in February) to give him a chance at an electoral victory... and that was barely at plus three.

Hillary won by more than two percent and lost the ECV. Biden won by 4.4% and was only a 26K vote swing in three states away from losing.

Why would you believe that Biden is still favored?

Are you smarter than all the pollsters or do you live in a world with a green sky?

Trump’s call to Lee was reported at the time, as well as its omission from the call log, by the Washington Post and CBS. But the origin of the call as coming from an official White House phone, which has not been previously reported, raises the prospect of tampering or deletion by Trump White House officials.

It also appears to mark perhaps the most serious violation of the Presidential Record Act – the statute that mandates preservation of White House records pertaining to a president’s official duties – by the Trump White House concerning January 6 records to date.

A spokesperson for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump called Lee at 2:26pm on January 6 through the official 202-395-0000 White House number, according to call detail records reviewed by the Guardian and confirmation by the two sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive matters.

The call was notable as Trump mistakenly dialed Lee thinking it was the number for Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville. Lee passed the phone to Tuberville, who told Trump Mike Pence had just been removed from the Senate chamber as rioters stormed the Capitol.

But Trump’s call to Lee was not recorded in either the presidential daily diary or the presidential call log – a problem because even though entries in the daily diary are discretionary, according to several current and former White House officials, the call log is not

Former SDNY litigator ponders if the DOJ 'might be in possession of derogatory evidence about Trump'

Sarah K. Burris

March 30, 2022

Former lawyer to Donald Trump, Michael Cohen, found out Tuesday that the government won't defend the ex-president in a lawsuit by Cohen.

The case sues Trump and former Attorney General Bill Barr and the Bureau of Prisons for singling out Cohen and throwing him back in jail after he refused the demand that he never speak out about Trump, Just Security recalled.

“I have never heard of such a spectacularly overbroad restriction on speech as a condition of probation or supervised release," said ACLU director of the National Prison Project David C. Fathi.

Cohen is suing, saying his First Amendment rights were violated. But that's not the case that former litigator for the Southern District of New York is curious about. Richard Signorelli tweeted Wednesday that the piece of the new revelation about the government not defending Trump may indicate other things about the case.

He prefaced his comments that he no longer works for the SDNY and can only speculate what the Justice Department is up to. However, it prompted him to wonder if the DOJ "might be in possession of derogatory evidence about Trump as it relates to Michael's allegations of retaliation."

There's also the matter of the DOJ possibly reconsidering representing Trump if he's an active target in a criminal investigation. Signorelli explained that could then be a conflict of interest at the DOJ.

If the reason is due to a conflict of interest, that would indicate that the Justice Department could be reconsidering the position on defending Trump in the E. Jean Carroll case that is pending at the Second Circuit.

"Will they file papers withdrawing their appeal of Judge Kaplan's decision?" asked Signorelli. "If so, then this is could be a sign that Trump is now being actively targeted by DOJ.

Maybe we need to spend about $100 million” investigating the matter.

Paul said, “Maybe we should get a special prosecutor. Maybe we need to spend about $100 million investigating Putin’s contributions to green — to the green alarmists in our country. I don’t have any information. I don’t know if it’s true, but can you imagine, there’s probably more truth to that than any of the BS they put forward about trying to connect the Russians to the Trump campaign.”

He added, “But yeah, if they are giving to our groups, we ought to know it. If we ought to know — if our left-wing groups that are anti-fossil fuel are being funded by the Russians, we at least ought to know it and it ought to be revealed, and that shouldn’t be too hard to find actually, and gives me another thing to investigate. If you guys give me a chairmanship and let the Senate be ruled by Republicans, guess what? Maybe I’ll subpoena these people and find out whether or not the Russians are actually giving these left-wing groups money.”

Scott, the Washington Post says.

What the experts found
In their examinations, Green and Williams found evidence that people other than Hunter Biden had accessed the drive and written files to it, both before and after the initial stories in the New York Post and long after the laptop itself had been turned over to the FBI.

Maxey had alerted The Washington Post to this issue in advance, saying that others had accessed the data to examine its contents and make copies of files. But the lack of what experts call a “clean chain of custody” undermined Green’s and Williams’s ability to determine the authenticity of most of the drive’s contents.
“The drive is a mess,” Green said.
He compared the portable drive he received from The Post to a crime scene in which detectives arrive to find Big Mac wrappers carelessly left behind by police officers who were there before them, contaminating the evidence.
That assessment was echoed by Williams.
“From a forensics standpoint, it’s a disaster,” Williams said. (The Post is paying Williams for the professional services he provided. Green declined payment.)
But both Green and Williams agreed on the authenticity of the emails that carried cryptographic signatures, though there was variation in which emails Green and Williams were able to verify using their forensic tools. The most reliable cryptographic signatures, they said, came from leading technology companies such as Google, which alone accounted for more than 16,000 of the verified emails.
Neither expert reported finding evidence that individual emails or other files had been manipulated by hackers, but neither was able to rule out that possibility.
[The full Trump-Ukraine impeachment timeline]
They also noted that while cryptographic signatures can verify that an email was sent from a particular account, they cannot verify who controlled that account when the email was sent. Hackers sometimes create fake email accounts or gain access to authentic ones as part of disinformation campaigns — a possibility that cannot be ruled out with regard to the email files on Biden’s laptop.

“The drive is a mess,” Green said.

Wow... now that is some clever cover up if I have ever hear it.

The "drive" is not the issue, the issue is the "data" on the drive. Nobody cares if the "drive" has been accessed or even if it had been written to. Unless they can show that the incriminating data on the drive was tampered with (which they are not claiming) this is a hail mary to place doubt.

It would be like suggesting that the dead body and blood all over the bedroom is no longer evidence because someone cooked a Pizza in the Kitchen after the fact. Even if someone had stepped in the blood, there is still blood and a dead body.

Unless they can show that the emails, the videos, and the actual information on the computer was recently added, recently edited, or otherwise compromised, the fact that the drive had been access is completely 100% irrelevant.

You should have learned that from your college computer science courses.

But this is why they write things like this Roger.

Again... use your head Roger. They say two things. That the drive has been accessed, but that there is no evidence that the incriminating evidence found on that drive was tampered with. They want you to focus on the former while glossing over the latter.

The rest is just computer "geeks" using computer jargon to make you think they are smart and onto something important... they want you to believe that the incriminating emails and even videos "could" have been done by hackers, but they have no proof that it was done by anyone other than the owner of the laptop.

I would offer that if they are half as smart as they suggest that they are, that no hacker would be able to manipulate the laptop data and emails without leaving bread crumbs for them to find. The lack of such evidence... well that leaves the reality. They were real.

Any person found with child porn on their computer could use the same defense. You cannot rule out that someone hacked my computer in such a fashion that it was undetectable and they placed it on my hard drive? You want to use the "someone hacked my computer and left incriminating evidence defense" better be able to show that that evidence in the hard drive was tampered with.

Scott The investigation is getting bigger than before

The criminal investigation into the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol has expanded to examine the preparations for the rally that preceded the riot, as the Justice Department aims to determine the full extent of any conspiracy to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s election victory, according to people familiar with the matter.
In the past two months, a federal grand jury in Washington has issued subpoena requests to some officials in former president Donald Trump’s orbit who assisted in planning, funding and executing the Jan. 6 rally, said the people familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.
The development shows the degree to which the Justice Department investigation — which already involves more defendants than any other criminal prosecution in the nation’s history — has moved further beyond the storming of the Capitol to examine events preceding the attack.
The events of Jan. 6, 2021, are a legally fraught puzzle for federal investigators. Prosecutors and FBI agents must distinguish between constitutionally protected First Amendment activity, such as speech and assembly, and the alleged conspiracy to obstruct Congress or other potential crimes connected to fundraising and organizing leading up to Jan. 6.
The task is also complicated by the proximity of those two very different types of activities — speech and violence — that occurred within hours of each other and less than a mile apart.

But it's complicated

Grand jury subpoenas are a legal mechanism used by prosecutors to gather information for a criminal investigation, and a subpoena in and of itself doesn’t mean any particular recipient is under investigation or likely to face charges. But the subpoena demands issued in recent weeks do indicate that the aperture of the investigation has widened, after Attorney General Merrick Garland pledged in a speech this Jan. 5, the day before the first anniversary of the attack on the Capitol, to follow the evidence wherever it leads.
The people familiar with the subpoena demands declined to identify the individuals who had received them or provide additional details.
Garland, who has faced pressure at times from Democrats and others to more aggressively investigate those close to Trump and the events that preceded the attack on Congress, said in his Jan. 5 speech that complex investigations like this one take time and are built from the bottom up.

This article for the New York Times is going to drive rrb crazy

The Biden administration is expected to announce plans this week to lift an emergency public health order that has restricted immigration at U.S. land borders since the beginning of the pandemic, according to people familiar with the planning.

The change, which is to take effect in late May, will allow migrants entering the country to once again seek asylum without being quickly turned back because of public health concerns during the pandemic.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Officials are anticipating that the lifting of the order, known as Title 42, will draw even more migrants from Central America and other regions to the southwest border, where the number intercepted by border officials has already broken records in recent months. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which issued the order and is responsible for deciding when to lift it, had been under increasing pressure from Democratic members of Congress and human rights advocates to do so.

The stakes are high, from both a humanitarian standpoint and a political one. Democrats do not want the southwest border to appear out of control in the months ahead of the midterm elections, which would fuel more Republican attacks on the Biden administration’s border policies.

But public health experts have said the order, meant to prevent migrants from spreading the coronavirus in the United States, has no grounding in science and that migrants do not pose a serious transmission risk, especially at this point in the pandemic.

Kate Bedingfield, the White House communications director, said on Wednesday that the White House will defer to the C.D.C. regarding when to lift the order. She said the government is preparing for a surge at the border when it happens.

“We are planning for multiple contingencies, and we have every expectation that when the C.D.C. ultimately decides it’s appropriate to lift Title 42, there will be an influx of people to the border,” she told reporters at the White House.

Homeland security officials described contingency plans on Tuesday for managing as many as 18,000 encounters a day at the border. Working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, other federal agencies, and state and local officials, the department is prepared to have additional personnel, buses and planes, medical assistance, and temporary facilities standing by to process migrants

The Alabama Republican revealed in a public statement last week that former President Donald Trump had repeatedly, and recently, raised the idea of attempting to rescind the 2020 election results and reinstall him as president. It was a stunning allegation that would show Trump not only attempted to subvert the 2020 election while in office, but that he is extracting promises from allies to try again if they take power in 2023.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The number of illegal crossings went up significantly after President Biden took office, compared with the previous year, when numbers were down in part because of the pandemic. Currently, border officials are apprehending about 7,000 undocumented migrants a day on the southwest border.

Ms. Bedingfield said the administration would work to ensure that migrants are dealt with in a humane way, and cited the experience at the border last year, in the early months of the Biden presidency, when as many as 14,000 children surged to the border.

“There was an effort to move those unaccompanied minors as quickly as possible out of Border Patrol custody and into facilities that were more suited for children,” she said. “And we were able to dramatically reduce those numbers.”

The Biden administration has defended the continued use of the order, citing the C.D.C.’s assessment that lifting it would pose a public health threat during the pandemic. But critics say the public health order has been used as an immigration control tool.

White House: Intel shows Putin misled by advisers on Ukraine

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. intelligence officials have determined that Russian President Vladimir Putin is being misinformed by advisers about his military’s poor performance in Ukraine, according to the White House. The advisers are scared to tell him the truth, the intel says.

The findings, recently declassified, indicate that Putin is aware of the situation on information coming to him and there now is persistent tension between him and senior Russian military officials.

The U.S. believes Putin is being misled not only about his military’s performance but also “how the Russian economy is b eing crippled by sanctions because, again, his senior advisers are too afraid to tell him the truth,” White House communications director Kate Bedingfield said Wednesday.

Earlier, President Joe Biden said in an exchange with reporters that he could not comment on the intelligence.

The administration is hopeful that divulging the finding could help prod Putin to reconsider his options in Ukraine, according to a U.S. official. The official was not authorized to comment and spoke on the condition of anonymity. The war has ground to a bloody stalemate in much of the country, with heavy casualties and Russian troop morale sinking as Ukrainian forces and volunteers put up an unexpectedly stout defense.

But the publicity could also risk further isolating Putin, who U.S. officials have said seems at least in part driven by a desire to win back Russian prestige lost by the fall of the Soviet Union.

“What it does is underscore that this has been a strategic blunder for Russia,” Bedingfield said of the intelligence finding. “But I’m not going to characterize how ... Vladimir Putin might be thinking about this.”

Meanwhile, Biden told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a 55 minute call that an additional $500 million in direct aid for Ukraine was on its way. It’s the latest burst in American assistance as the Russian invasion grinds on.

Asked about the latest intelligence, Secretary of State Antony Blinken suggested that a dynamic within the Kremlin exists where advisers are unwilling to speak to Putin with candor.

“One of the Achilles’ heels of autocracies is that you don’t have people in those systems that speak truth to power or have the ability to speak truth to power, and I think that’s what we’re seeing in Russia,” Blinken told reporters during a stop in Algeria on Wednesday.

The unidentified official did not detail underlying evidence for how U.S. intelligence made its determination.

The intelligence community has concluded that Putin was unaware that his military had been using and losing conscripts in Ukraine. They also have determined he is not fully aware of the extent to which the Russian economy is being damaged by economic sanctions imposed by the U.S. and allies.

The findings demonstrate a “clear breakdown in the flow of accurate information” to Putin, and show that Putin’s senior advisers are “afraid to tell him the truth,” the official said.

Biden notified Zelenskyy about the latest tranche of assistance during a call in which the leaders also reviewed security aid already delivered to Ukraine and the effects that weaponry has had on the war, according to the White House.

Zelesnkyy has pressed the Biden administration and other Western allies to provide Ukraine with military jets, something that the U.S. and other NATO countries have thus far been unwilling to accommodate out of concern it could lead to Russia broadening the war beyond Ukraine’s borders.

Prior to Wednesday’s announcement of $500 million in aid, the Biden administration had sent Ukraine about $2 billion in humanitarian and security assistance since the start of the war last month.

Congress approved $13.6 billion that Congress approved earlier this month as part of a broader spending bill. Bedingfield said the latest round of financial assistance could be used by the Ukrainian government “to bolster its economy and pay for budgetary expenses” including government salaries and maintaining services.

Ukraine’s presidential website says Zelenskyy told Biden: “We need peace, and it will be achieved only when we have a strong position on the battlefield. Our morale is firm, there is enough determination, but we need your immediate support.”

Zelenskyy in a Twitter posting said that he also spoke to Biden about new sanctions against Russia. Bedingfield said the administration is looking at options to expand and deepen current sanctions.

The new intelligence came after the White House on Tuesday expressed skepticism about Russia’s public announcement that it would dial back operations near Kyiv in an effort to increase trust in ongoing talks between Ukrainian and Russian officials in Turkey.

Russian forces pounded areas around Ukraine’s capital and another city overnight, regional leaders said Wednesday.

The Pentagon said Wednesday that over the past 24 hours it had seen some Russian troops in the areas around Kyiv moving north toward or into Belarus.

Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said in interviews with CNN and Fox Business that the U.S. does not view this as a withdrawal but as an attempt by Russia to resupply, refit and then reposition the troops.

Putin has long been seen outside Russia as insular and surrounded by officials who don’t always tell him the truth. U.S. officials have said publicly they believe that limited flow of information –- possibly exacerbated by Putin’s heightened isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic -– may have given the Russian president unrealistic views of how quickly he could overrun Ukraine.

The Biden administration before the war launched an unprecedented effort to publicize what it believed were Putin’s invasion plans, drawing on intelligence findings. While Russia still invaded, the White House was widely credited with drawing attention to Ukraine and pushing initially reluctant allies to back tough sanctions that have hammered the Russian economy.

But underscoring the limits of intelligence, the U.S. also underestimated Ukraine’s will to fight before the invasion, said Lt. Gen. Scott Berrier, head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, in recent testimony before Congress.

The White House has pledged an additional $500 million in direct aid for Ukraine as the Russian invasion grinds on.

President Joe Biden told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a 55-minute call Wednesday that the additional aid was on its way.

Meanwhile, Zelenskyy said that while there were "positive" signals from ongoing negotiations, they did not "drown out the ruptures of Russian shells."

On Wednesday, the United Nations refugee agency said the number of people who have fled the war in Ukraine has reached more than 4 million, with over 2.3 million seeking refuge in neighboring Poland.

The Pentagon says that it has seen some recent Russian forces near Kyiv move north or into Belarus, but that it sees as an attempt by Russia to resupply, refit and then reposition the troops.

Declassified U.S. intelligence claims that Russian President Vladimir Putin's senior advisors are "too afraid to tell him the truth" about Russia's battlefield failures.

Ukrainian negotiator David Arakhamia said Ukraine and Russia will resume talks Friday, as fighting continued Wednesday more than a month after Russia invaded.

Arakhamia said in an interview on national television that Russia's first offer amounted to what he called a "capitulation agreement."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday that a negotiation process is underway but that "but these are still words, so far no specifics."

Zelenskyy said Russian troops are accumulating for new attacks on the Donbas area, which is in eastern Ukraine. He pledged that "we will fight for every inch of our land, for every one of our people."

Fauci Warns of a Possible New COVID Variant so You Better Prepare New COVID Restrictions

Fauci said it would only be “temporary.” You know, as he said in 2020.

Posted by Mary Chastain. March 30, 2022 a

Dr. Anthony Fauci crawled out from under his bridge, trying to keep himself relevant with some more fear porn about a new COVID variant:

In an interview on the BBC’s “Sunday Morning,” Fauci said U.S. residents “need to be prepared for the possibility” of restrictions being put back into place.

Presenter Sophie Raworth asked if a new infectious COVID-19 variant could lead to future lockdowns and mask mandates.

“I don’t want to use the word ‘lockdowns.’ That has a charged element to it. But, I believe that we must keep our eye on the pattern of what we’re seeing with infections,” he said, noting that the U.S. is currently moving toward normalcy.

“Having said that, we need to be prepared for the possibility that we would have another variant that would come along,” Fauci noted. “And then, if things change and we do get a variant that does give us an uptick in cases and hospitalization, we should be prepared and flexible enough to pivot toward going back – at least temporarily – to a more rigid type of restrictions, such as requiring masks indoor.”

I’m laughing in Oklahoman right now. We’ve been mask free since the beginning of 2021.

I wonder what changed Fauci’s mind. Last week he told The Washington Post he didn’t think we’d see an “uptick” of COVID cases.

I guess Fauci is tired of being pushed aside. I bet he blames Putin.

Go away, Fauci. We’re fine. Your time is over.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is preparing to order the release of up to 1 million barrels of oil per day from the nation's strategic petroleum reserve, according to two people familiar with the decision, in a bid to control energy prices that have spiked as the U.S. and allies have imposed steep sanctions on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine

The announcement could come as soon as Thursday, when the White House says Biden is planning to deliver remarks on his administration's plans to combat rising gas prices. The duration of the release hasn't been finalized but could last for several months. The people spoke on the condition of anonymity to preview the decision.

High oil prices have not coaxed more production, creating a challenge for Biden. The president has seen his popularity sink as inflation reached a 40-year high in February and the cost of petroleum and gasoline climbed after Russia invaded Ukraine. Crude oil on Wednesday traded at nearly $105 a barrel, up from about $60 a year ago.

"WASHINGTON, D.C. – At the direction of the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, the Department of Energy (DOE) will fill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to its maximum capacity by purchasing 77 million barrels of American-made crude oil. Today, DOE announced a solicitation for the purchase of an initial 30 million barrels to begin filling the SPR. Solicitations for additional purchases will follow."

Roger, do tell us how much oil in Total the SPR holds.

How long is Joe going to raid it?

Highest inventory - The SPR was filled to its then 727 million barrel authorized storage capacity on December 27, 2009; the inventory of 726.6 million barrels was the highest ever held in the SPR.

Seems to me, very little oil was pumped in during trumps regime....

The U.S. Department of Energy is suspending its plans to buy crude for the country’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve after the requested $3 billion in funding for the project was left out of the $2 trillion stimulus package.
“Given the current uncertainty related to adequate Congressional Appropriations for crude oil purchases associated with the March 19, 2020 solicitation, the Department is withdrawing the solicitation,” an amendment filed Wednesday said.
President Donald Trump first called for oil to be purchased for the SPR on March 13.

Trump denies calling Putin a 'genius'

With the U.S. public showing a vast disapproval of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the wake of his invasion of Ukraine, former President Donald Trump has sought to explain his glowing appraisal of the Russian leader's moves leading up to the war.

On Wednesday, Trump released a statement in which he parsed the semantics of using the word "genius" when referring to Putin's military strategy.

"The Fake News is also saying I called Putin a 'genius,' when actually, and to be precise, I called his build-up on the Ukraine border before the war started genius because I assumed he would easily be able to negotiate a great deal with Russia," Trump said in the written statement.

Trump, who seems likely to run for president again in 2024, did not explain why he had praised Putin for seeking to leverage the threat of military conflict to undermine Western interests. While conceding that he had misread Putin's intentions, Trump also placed blame with President Biden's administration for how the war started.

ut they did agree that nearly 22,000 emails contained on the portable drive were authentic — meaning they contained cryptographic signatures that indicated they came from the accounts that they claimed to be from and had not been manipulated in some way.
This was determined by examining what’s known as the headers of the emails. Headers are rarely visible to people reading their emails, but they contain what is known as metadata that includes information about an email’s sending account, its recipient and its path through the Internet. In some cases, headers also include a series of letters and numbers that appear unintelligible but, in fact, are cryptographic signatures that can be used to verify an email’s sender and contents.

Green and Williams between them were able to use cryptographic signatures to verify 22,000 emails out of the nearly 129,000 on the portable drive.
They also agreed that they found no clear evidence that data on the hard drive had been tampered with, but said that it was difficult to reach a conclusion on the data on the drive as a whole. The ability to verify it, they said, was undermined by the fact the hard drive had been handled over the years in a manner that damaged some key files, making them unusable for the purposes of forensic examination. As Williams noted in his technical report, “several key pieces of evidence useful in discovering tampering were not available.”
