“A global response is necessary. There are ongoing talks between Eurojust and the International Criminal Court to join forces and for the Court to be part of the Joint Investigation Team. Such a coordinated approach from the Ukrainian authorities, the EU, its Member States and agencies, and the International Criminal Court will allow for the evidence to be collected, analysed and processed in the most complete and effective way possible. There are several similar stories being written over the past couple of days that are talking about Russian atrocities and how we must do "more" to stop it.
- "US will call for Russia to be suspended from UN Human Rights Council"
- "Global outcry against Russia escalates as horrifying stories emerge of Ukraine atrocities"
- "MI6 chief says 'summary executions' seen in Bucha, Ukraine, were part of Putin's invasion plan"
are just some of the headlines we see this morning... As if all of this was new?
There are a lot of questions as to what the current Russian pullback means. There seems to be a pretty even split among those who believe that Russia is being at least somewhat honest and plans to scale back military action around Kiev and other northern areas, and those who believe that Russia is basically being deceptive and are using this time to regroup and come up with a plan that adjusts for at least some of their mistakes.
If I was a betting man, I might bet that Putin is somewhere in between and will come back with more forces eventually unless certain demands were met. He has recently called up 130,000 trained Army reserves and reports are such that people in Russia are starting to get behind the war efforts. Why call up 130,000 troops (on top of mercenaries from other countries that have been added to the mix) if you have no plans to use them? I certainly don't believe that Russians are signing up to go kill Ukrainians, but the threat of a popular uprising has seemed to have diminished.
What I question is whether or not he will come hard at Kiev again or whether he will attempt to consolidate gains in the east and south, which is the land he currently is asking for to be turned over to Russia interests. While Zelenskyy is claiming giving up "any" land is off the table, I find it hard to believe that Putin will simply give up military control over those areas without getting anything tangible in return. Not sure what (other than land that will buffer Ukraine from Russia) that will fulfill that need.
Looks like a classic staredown. Who blinks first?

Democrats are growing increasingly worried about President Biden’s standing in the polls seven months out from the midterm elections.
Biden hasn’t seen a boost in his approval ratings amid Russia’s war in Ukraine despite support among Americans for the steps that he has taken.
While the economy continues to gain jobs and the unemployment rate is low, something Biden touted on Friday, inflation is at a 40-year high and gas prices are through the roof, exacerbated by the Russian invasion.
Democrats for months have feared they will lose the House majority this fall, and they are worried about losing the Senate, too, with polls showing Biden performing poorly in key states such as Arizona.
“It’s bad,” said one Democratic strategist. “You have an energy crisis that’s paralyzing and inflation is at a 40-year high and we’re heading into a recession. The problem is simple. The American people have lost confidence in him.”

Ukraine and its allies have accused Russian forces of committing war crimes in the areas they captured after invading Ukraine on February 24.
While Russia has rebuffed the allegations as unfounded, witness accounts of unprovoked civilian killings and images of the destroyed town’s streets littered with corpses have revealed extensive human suffering.
Hanna Herega, a Bucha resident, said she witnessed a man being killed by Russian troops. “He went to get some wood when all of a sudden they [Russians] started shooting. They hit him a bit above the heel, crushing the bone, and he fell down,” Herega told Al Jazeera.
“The shooter shouted: ‘Don’t scream or I will shoot!’ and they turned away. Then they shot off his left leg completely, with the boot. Then they shot him all over this side [on the chest.] And another shot went slightly below the temple. It was a controlled shot to the head,” she added.
Ukraine says the bodies of 410 civilians have been recovered from the Kyiv region [Oleksandr Ratushniak/Reuters]
Ukraine’s prosecutor general said the bodies of 410 civilians have been recovered so far from areas in the wider Kyiv region after Ukrainian forces regained complete control.
Before collecting the bodies, authorities photograph and document them in an effort to collect evidence that may form the basis of a war crimes investigation.

Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society and the economy that rose to prominence in early 20th-century Europe.

President Joe Biden on Monday called for evidence to be gathered to put Russian leader Vladimir Putin on trial for war crimes related to his nation’s invasion of Ukraine, CNBC reports.
Said Biden: “He is a war criminal… This guy is brutal, and what’s happening in Bucha is outrageous and everyone’s seen it.”
He added: “I think it is a war crime … He should be held accountable.”
The trick is how to get him arrested by U.S or NATO.

Putin is going to keep land , mainly the ports he occupies.
The definition of "fascism" that you plagiarized is not accurate, alky.
Definition of fascism
1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control
early instances of army fascism and brutality

To believe you have to believe Biden is helpless and Putin is running the world economy.
Is it not be possible that even Putin will eventually realize that the price he and Russia are having to pay is too much for continuing this costly invasion.
The Russians eventually left Afghanistan without vicory.
The trick is how to get him arrested by U.S or NATO.
Yes... that would be quite a trick since neither has any authority in the matter. The only authority is the UN International Criminal Court. They would have to arrest Putin outside of Russia or have Russia turn him over.
Does either seem likely?

Let’s continue to worry about Ukraine’s borders while our border is completely ignored by this dementia addled administration.
Arizona border sector sees 579% spike in migrant encounters over last fiscal year as crisis worsens
FIRST ON FOX: Border Patrol agents are seeing significant increases in migrant traffic all along the southern border, with one Arizona sector seeing a massive 579% increase over the last fiscal year.
Border Patrol in Yuma Sector has seen 154,116 migrant encounters so far this fiscal year, which started in October. That’s a 579% increase over the same period last year, according to information provided by a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) source.
62,000+ ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS GOT PAST BORDER PATROL AGENTS IN MARCH: SOURCES
Meanwhile, in the Del Rio Sector the site of the Haitian migrant crisis in September, agents there have experienced a 179% increase in encounters -- 198,482 migrants so far this fiscal year.
Other sectors have seen less aggressive increases, according to the data. Rio Grande Valley has seen a 50% increase, El Paso Sector has seen a 57% increase, Tucson has seen a 52% increase -- while Laredo Sector has seen a 1% decrease.
The information tracks with what Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz said earlier this week when he told a border security conference that "every sector is busier than they were back in ‘21." There he said that the U.S. was on track to hit one million encounters in the first six months of the fiscal year.
Meanwhile, multiple sources told Fox News that there were more than 8,000 migrant encounters on Friday, an increase from the average of 7,000 a day agents have been seeing recently.
Those numbers are expected to increase with the Biden administration’s announcement on Friday that it intends to end the use of the Title 42 public health order in May. That order has been used to quickly expel more than half of the migrants encountered at the border.
Republicans, Democrats and administration officials have said that they expect the move to increase the number of people hitting the border -- leading to concerns about a surge that could easily eclipse last year’s massive numbers.
et’s continue to worry about Ukraine’s borders while our border is completely ignored by this dementia

Atrocities are getting worse
Women across Ukraine are grappling with the threat of rape as a weapon of war as growing evidence of sexual violence emerges from areas retaken from retreating Russian forces.
The world was horrified on Sunday by a picture taken by the photographer Mikhail Palinchak on a highway 20km outside the capital, Kyiv, in which the bodies of one man and three women were piled under a blanket. The women were naked and their bodies had been partially burned, the photographer said.
The harrowing image adds to a mounting body of evidence that summary executions, rape and torture have been used against civilians in areas under Russian control since the Kremlin launched the invasion of its neighbour on 24 February.
Particularly difficult for many to comprehend is the scale of the sexual violence. As Russian troops have withdrawn from towns and suburbs around the capital in order to refocus the war effort on Ukraine’s east, women and girls have come forward to tell the police, media and human rights organisations of atrocities they have suffered at the hands of Russian soldiers. Gang-rapes, assaults taking place at gunpoint, and rapes committed in front of children are among the grim testimonies collected by investigators.
“We have had several calls to our emergency hotline from women and girls seeking assistance, but in most cases it’s been impossible to help them physically. We haven’t been able to reach them because of the fighting,” said Kateryna Cherepakha, the president of La Strada Ukraine, a charity that supports survivors of trafficking, domestic violence and sexual assault.
“Rape is an underreported crime and stigmatised issue even in peaceful times. I am worried that what we learn about is just going to be the tip of the iceberg.”
Rape and sexual assault are considered war crimes and a breach of international humanitarian law, and both Ukraine’s prosecutor general and the international Criminal Court have said they will open investigations into reported sexual violence. But what currently seems like a far-off possibility of justice has done little to assuage Ukrainian women’s fears of what may yet happen in a war that is far from over.
Antonina Medvedchuk, 31, said that when she woke up to the sound of bombing on the day the war broke out, the first things she grabbed before leaving Kyiv were condoms and scissors to use as a weapon to protect herself.
“Every break between curfew and bombing I was looking for emergency contraception instead of a basic first aid kit,” she said. “My mother tried to reassure me: ‘This is not a war like that, they don’t exist anymore, they are from old movies.’ I have been a feminist for eight years, and I cried in silence, because all wars are like this.”

Members on the select committee believe Kushner’s cooperation might prompt other Trump officials to assist the investigation as the panel inches closer to Trump’s inner circle and the former president himself, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The panel has also been buoyed by the federal court ruling that said Trump “more likely than not” violated the law over 6 January, reaffirming the purpose of the investigation and making it harder for Trump’s allies to defy the inquiry, the sources said.
And members on the select committee believe that opening contempt of Congress proceedings against the Trump aides Peter Navarro and Dan Scavino for ignoring their subpoenas, will reinforce the message that the panel will punish non-compliance, the sources said.
“There’s a momentum to this process when there’s cooperation,” Jamie Raskin, one of the congressmen on the panel, said of the burst of recent activity. “When people see that others are doing the right thing, it gives them the courage to do the right thing.”

The select committee has now conducted more than 800 depositions and interviews, obtained almost 90,000 documents and followed up on more than 435 tips received through the tip line on its website, since it started its work in earnest last August.
House investigators also have more than 100 depositions remaining on the schedule, the sources said, including one with a key witness who is expected to reveal connections between the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys militia groups and the Capitol attack.

That deposition – slated for 5 April – would represent another breakthrough and could play a big role in establishing for the select committee whether Trump oversaw a criminal conspiracy as part of his efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Mitt Romney (Utah) said Monday they'll vote for Ketanji Brown Jackson's confirmation to the Supreme Court, bringing the total GOP votes for President Biden's nominee to three.
The big picture: With all Democrats planning to vote for her, Jackson's confirmation is all but a sure thing. Rep. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said last week that she would also vote to confirm Jackson.
"While I do not expect to agree with every decision she may make on the Court, I believe that she more than meets the standard of excellence and integrity," Romney said in a statement.Murkowski said her support for Jackson "also rests on my rejection of the corrosive politicization of the review process for Supreme Court nominees, which, on both sides of the aisle, is growing worse and more detached from reality by the year."
The Senate will vote on Jackson's nomination despite a tie in the Senate Judiciary Committee Monday.
