A damning indictment of the Biden presidency:
— Jake Schneider (@jacobkschneider) May 22, 2022
📉 69% say the economy is bad.
📉 77% are pessimistic about costs.
📉 70% disapprove of Biden's handling of inflation.
📉 65% say Biden has been "slow to react." pic.twitter.com/qTShAzRKdd
Well there is no accounting for stupidity or whatever it might be that causes 35% of the public to say that the President reacts to important things "right away". Either they don't understand the word "important" or possibly they are confused by the term "right away" - but I am not sure anyone of those 35% could give you an example of an "important thing" that did not get pushed aside in similar patterns.
From Afghanistan, to Ukraine, to inflation, to Covid, to whatever it is you want to talk about the Administration has started off in denial, moved on to telling us why it cannot be fixed, and then ends with pointing fingers. I am not sure I can think of "one" important issue where the Administration did not drop the ball, much less make any determination that they address all (or even most) important issues "right away".

Do you really want to replace Biden with this?
Mitch McConnell, voice of the deep state
By David Zukerman
The New York Times, in its May 21 print edition, and, online May 20, published an edited interview with Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell.
The text of the article in the print edition was the same as online, but the headline for the online posting apparentlhy sought to drive home what the McConnell interview was all about, as you will see.
Here is the print headline: "McConnell Cites Ukraine Aid as Evidence of a Shifting G.O.P."
And here is the online headline: "On Ukraine, McConnell Tries to Show the World This Isn't Trump's G.O.P."
The online headline more accurately reflects the tone of the interview, which started out with McConnell asserting, in part, that he had traveled to Finland and Sweden, recently, to assure "the Europeans that skepticism about NATO itself, expressed by the previous president, was not the view of Republicans in the Senate." (Finland and Swedent are on a course leading to membership in NATO.).
The interview ended with McConnell saying, with respect to Finland and Sweden as members of NATO, that Democrat Senate leader Charles E. Schumer "'feels the same way I do [in support of their joining NATO).
Given the extraordinary remarks by McConnell at the start and close of this edited interview with Times reporter Catie Edmondson, it was apparent that McConnell was trying to signal that Senate Republicans, under his leadership are not part of "Trump's G.O.P."
Are you an isolationist or??
Just partisan?
A rational Republicans should support Pence or a couple others than DeSantis.
Do you really want to replace Biden with this?
Yes Roger... Most people would replace Biden with a blow up doll right now. You are part of the dwindling "hanger ons" to the idea that we can trust the old geezer to be even mildly competent.
Just this weekend, while in Japan he demanded that the United State would most definitely intervene military if China attacked Taiwan.
Within minutes... the White House staff had to "walk it back" and suggest that we were all "once again" taking what he said to literally. By intervene, they said... that meant we might supply them with some financial assistance or such. But certainly we would not go to war with China.
The guy doesn't even understand what he can and cannot say while being questions. He has no fucking clue was to what our policy is on that subject. He just says what comes to mind.
Is there any openings in your mental health lock down nursing home?
Yes Roger... Most people would replace Biden with a blow up doll right now.
I would just like to talk to a member of the 30 +/-% who think he's doing a good job right now.
Other than the alky that is. Someone presumably sane who isn't an inmate in a psychiatric hospital.
Obviously it is too much for you 🙄.
Biden’s starkest comments yet on defending Taiwan from China
His comments have gradually broken from the established policy of strategic ambiguity. The question is why.
Biden willing to use force to defend Taiwan
President Biden said on May 23 he would be willing to use military force to defend Taiwan, capping a series of critical comments about China while in Asia.
President Biden has now repeatedly indicated that the United States’ duty to defend Taiwan from China might go further than long-standing U.S. policy has acknowledged. And each time, the White House has sought to clarify that there is no official change.
It’s getting more and more difficult to accept that. Either Biden keeps getting out over his skis — for which there is plenty of precedent — or it’s a relatively novel and somewhat ominous development in Washington’s “strategic ambiguity” policy toward China and Taiwan. It’s ominous because it suggests both that conflict has grown likely enough to elicit a shift in rhetoric — and because such rhetoric might force the United States into that conflict.
The latest iteration came Monday, when Biden was asked whether the United States would come to Taiwan’s defense “militarily.” He said it would:
Q: You didn’t want to get involved in the Ukraine conflict militarily for obvious reasons. Are you willing to get involved militarily to defend Taiwan if it comes to that?
BIDEN: Yes.
Q: You are?
BIDEN: That’s the commitment we made. ... The idea that [Taiwan] can be taken by force, just taken by force, is not just appropriate. It will dislocate the entire region and be another action similar to what happened in Ukraine, and so it’s a burden that is even stronger.
Biden was asked a similar question in October, and he offered a similar answer:
Q: China just tested a hypersonic missile. What will you do to keep up with them militarily, and can you vow to protect Taiwan?
BIDEN: Yes and yes.
...
Q: So are you saying that the United States would come to Taiwan’s defense if China attacked?
BIDEN: Yes. Yes, we have a commitment to do that.
And in August, he seemed to volunteer that the United States had a duty to defend Taiwan:
Q: You talked about our adversaries, China and Russia. You already see China telling Taiwan, “See? You can’t count on the Americans” [because of the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal].
BIDEN: Why wouldn’t China say that? Look, George ... there’s a fundamental difference between — between Taiwan, South Korea, NATO. ... We made a sacred commitment to Article Five that if in fact anyone were to invade or take action against our NATO allies, we would respond. Same with Japan, same with South Korea, same with — Taiwan. It’s not even comparable to talk about that.
Each time — and even in Biden’s own comments Monday — the administration has stressed that U.S. policy has not formally changed. “As the president said, our policy has not changed,”
He is actually acting like Harry Truman Scott The Buck Stops Here.
This week will change things
CNBC
"Despite higher wages, inflation gave the average worker a 2.4% pay cut last year. Inflation grew 7% in December from a year earlier, the U.S. Department of Labor said Wednesday. Average hourly wages also increased by 4.7%. That amounts to a pay cut of more than 2%, on average.Jan 12, 2022"
Just this weekend, while in Japan he demanded that the United State would most definitely intervene military if China attacked Taiwan.
Within minutes... the White House staff had to "walk it back" and suggest that we were all "once again" taking what he said to literally.
In other news, FJB sent 500 troops back to Somalia. Why you ask?
Because Trump pulled them out, and with good reason. We have zero national interest in that shithole. Now we're poised for Blackhawk Down Part Deaux.
Fucking brilliant.
Roger Failed US Constitution test, again.
"Do you really want to replace Biden with this?"
Mitch McConnel
Not how the US Constitution works old Rig
Powerline gave you your thoughts.
The Washington Post is not so blunt. More protective of Biden. the Post reported the backpedaling this way at 7:18 a.m. (Eastern) this morning:
On Taiwan, a White House official said Biden simply had reemphasized a pledge made through a 1979 law that calls on the United States to provide Taiwan with the military means for self-defense. The United States retains a policy of strategic ambiguity toward the island, meaning it is deliberately unclear on what it would do when it comes defending Taiwan. Both the official — who requested anonymity in clarifying Biden’s comments — and the president said that U.S. stance has not changed.
“Walk Right Back” should be the theme of the Biden administration. It won’t be long before they’re walking back the rumor that Biden is president of the United States.
UPDATE: Peter Van Buren takes up the quandaries in the American Conservative column “Biden’s harebrained diplomacy.” Although it seems to anticipates today’s big news, the column is date-stamped at 12:01 a.m. this morning.
You really are so predictable 🙄
Will you defend Taiwan 🇹🇼 Militarily? Female reporter
Biden "Yes"
Well, maybe.
Oh no , I shouldn't said that
We can't feed our own babies, but we're going to enter into a military conflict with China to defend Taiwan.
This administration is now criminally negligent. There's no other way to describe it.
And the buck stops with Kate Bedingfield, NOT FJB.
Every President has said things that need to be clarified.
But he is pursuing great diplomacy.
Roger...
Why did the White House walk back the Biden statement...
and basically admit that we will not go to war with China over Taiwan?
If Biden was being a clear and decisive leader and giving it the old Harry Truman attitude...
Wouldn't that be more powerful if spokespeople did not have to come out ten minutes later and remind people of our real policy with China and Taiwan and that in spite of what the President was "suggesting" we will not be intervening.
Seems kind of like you want it both ways?
That everyone both understood that he was not saying what he was saying but that somehow saying it anyways makes him a tough guy - even though he didn't mean it?
Blogger The Real Halfbaked Soars Pundit said...

True.
But not every fucking day and every single time he opens his fucking pie hole.
Also, name another president who had to take direction from the fucking EASTER BUNNY.
Idiot.
Biden, again said fuck you the Americans.
This answer to a question about are gas prices.
Biden answered that were in transition from fossil fuels and that after the transition will be in a better place. So he said screw America again
Taiwan 🇹🇼 was very happy.
Taipei cheered Biden’s remarks, with Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Joanne Ou expressing “sincere welcome and gratitude” for the comments.
“The challenge posed by China to the security of the Taiwan Strait has drawn great concern in the international community,” said Ou. “Taiwan will continue to improve its self-defense capabilities, and deepen cooperation with the United States and Japan and other like-minded countries to jointly defend the security of the Taiwan Strait and the rules-based international order, while promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.”
It’s not the first time Biden has pledged to defend Taiwan against a Chinese attack, only for administration officials to later claim there had been no change to American policy. In a CNN town hall in October, Biden was asked about using the U.S. military to defend Taiwan and replied, “Yes, we have a commitment to do that.”
Biden’s comments came just before he formally launched a long-anticipated Indo-Pacific trade pact that excludes Taiwan.
He did not directly say that the United States Armed forces will directly used in response to China if they actually invaded Taiwan

Roger...
Why did the White House walk back the Biden statement...
and basically admit that we will not go to war with China over Taiwan?
If Roger answers, should be good.
Plus he is getting Japan stronger than ever since the Second World War.
U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday endorsed Japan's plan to beef up its defence capabilities as he and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida committed to working closely to counter China's growing influence in Asia. Biden, on his first trip to Asia since taking office, is visiting the region as concern grows about China's assertiveness and reach across security and supply chains. The U.S. president commended Kishida's determination to strengthen Japan's defence capabilities, the White House said in a statement following their meeting.
Roger....
So seriously. Do you believe because the President made an obvious gaffe by suggesting we would actually go to war with China (only to have everyone else in the White House walk back the statement within minutes)
That we would now actually go to war with China?
Is that what you actually believe?
Because the old demented geezer suggested erroneously that our policy has been to defend Taiwan (when it's not) - that we are now going to stick to it?
It's "almost" as if Roger doesn't think it was a gaffe?
He did not directly say that the United States Armed forces will directly used in response to China if they actually invaded Taiwan.
That’s the President of the United States calling the $5.00 a gallon gasoline that is crushing Americans an “incredible transition.” And lest anyone think I’m misreading him, he means it exactly as it sounds and says as much by citing that we’ll become “less reliant” on fossil fuels in the end.
In other words, this is all intentional. Biden and his handlers saw an opportunity to destroy the energy market and have done everything in their power to make that a reality. The most recent example came after the administration canceled more oil and gas leases that could have helped relieve price pressures long-term.
It’s not just Biden himself making the plan clear, though. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, who came into her position heavily invested in electric vehicle production, has continually told Americans to pound sand regarding high gas prices. Her suggestion? Go buy an expensive, likely unavailable electric car (because of production waitlists) that you can’t take on a road trip and that you can’t charge at home unless you have a garage. Even then, home charging is an all-night affair.
And while the president claims this painful, preventable endeavor will make us “stronger,” I’m struggling to see how becoming almost completely reliant on China is going to do anything but weaken the United States. Batteries don’t appear out of thin air, and the same concerns apply to things like solar power. Any energy policy that hands the engine of the world economy to a communist dictatorship is insane. That the Biden administration is actively choosing to do so makes it all the worse.
We’ve moved past the point of simple political disagreement and into the realm of purposeful sabotage in order to obtain a delusional partisan goal. They aren’t even hiding the ball anymore. These people want you to suffer.
https://redstate.com/bonchie/2022/05/23/they-want-you-to-suffer-n568547
No. Because a smart politician can provoke a response from China and they avoided saying they were going to invade Taiwan 🇹🇼..
He let them know that they would face a strong response from Taiwan with help from the US like in Ukraine.
It's "almost" as if Roger doesn't think it was a gaffe?
The underlying challenge here is to try and determine who is in more severe cognitive decline -
Biden or the alky.
Scott he said after yes
“We agree with the ‘One China’ policy ... but the idea that it can be taken by force, just taken by force, is just not appropriate. It would dislocate the entire region and be another action similar to what happened in Ukraine. And so it’s a burden that’s even stronger.”
He did not directly say that the United States Armed forces will directly used in response to China if they actually invaded Taiwan.
Well he was specifically asked if we would defend Taiwan "MILITARILY" and he said yes.... He was asked IN THOSE WORDS and still said yeah, we will defend Taiwan militarily.
That seems pretty clear, Roger.
What else does defending someone militarily mean?
The word literally means "by means of armed forces".
It does not mean by any stretch of the imagination financial support.
He did not say that we are sending the Navy forces to directly respond to China
He let them know that they would face a strong response from Taiwan with help from the US like in Ukraine.
Except for one thing -
We have not responded strongly in Ukraine.
We let a coke-whore comic pick our pocket for $40 BILLION.
we will defend Taiwan militarily.
Just like in Ukraine
Biden walk back .

Omg, brain dead Alky.
$65.9 billion is what Russia s p ent on its Military in 2021.
Yet, Biden gas spent $55 Billion on Ukraine.
Leaving the Chinese with fear of a much higher risk is smart tactics.

"troops intervened militarily to restore order"
in a way that relates to armed forces; from a military point of view.
"a strong country economically and militarily"
we will defend Taiwan militarily.
Just like in Ukraine
I am sorry Roger...
So now Joe Biden and the Democrats get to change the definition of words to make it match what they wanted the President to mean?
We are not helping Ukraine "militarily" -- if we were helping in that fashion (by all definitions of the word) we would have troops there in the fight.
We are helping them "financially" and are assisting by sending arms for "them" to use militarily.
How embarrassing is it when Democrats literally try to change what words mean to protect Senile in Chief
Ukraine spent $5.9 billion on its military in 2021.
Yes, only $5.9 Billion and yet they need $55 Billion from American tax payers.
Has the Rest of NATO PUSH in $55 Billion?
Mr. Biden has committed the U.S. to protecting Taiwan in the event of an invasion on previous occasions. In an August interview with ABC News about the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, Mr. Biden included Taiwan on a list of allies he said the U.S. was duty-bound to defend.
At a CNN Town Hall event in October, he responded to a question about the U.S. defending Taiwan by saying, “Yes, we have a commitment to do that.” because U.S. policy on Taiwan hadn’t changed.

You really believe that he didn't know that because you have been brainwashed for years now.

Speaking of responding "militarily"...
Early demands from the National School Boards Association to the White House included calling for the deployment of the Army National Guard and the military police to monitor school board meetings, according to an early draft letter the organization's independent review released Friday.
In contrast to the final version, the draft of the NSBA letter said, "We ask that the Army National Guard and its Military Police be deployed to certain school districts and related events where students and school personnel have been subjected to acts and threats of violence."

So Biden is for US troops/Navy in Taiwan War with China 🇨🇳.
Thanks for clearing that up Roger.
The irony of this is absolutely hysterical.
The alky is working even harder than the white house to spin the FJB gaffe into a positive and he doesn't even realize it.
The worst former is President is the greatest risk in history.
The fundamental premise of democracy is that citizens agree to be ruled by whoever wins an election. But if many citizens come to believe that letting the other side rule poses a threat to their well-being, even their lives, they may no longer be willing to accept the outcome of an election they lose. This makes it easier for demagogues to attract fervent supporters, and even to turn them against a country’s political institutions. The January 6, 2021, assault on the Capitol is just such a symptom of the malaise.
Leaving the Chinese with fear of a much higher risk, despite not saying that troops will be sent directly, is smart tactics. It's like playing poker

It's a bad poker play when your actual White House staff and military leaders contradict what Biden stated. They sort of called his bluff for them.
You need to just admit that he misspoke Roger.
Or you have to admit that if he didn't - then he wasn't authorized to say what he did, or his handlers would not have publicly contradicted what he said.
But the one thing we all know for a fact.
We will not be going to war if China invades Taiwan. That was made clear by our leadership (in direct contrast to Biden's statement).
It's like playing poker
Which democrats apparently have no clue about.
Remember Obama's famous "Don't call my bluff"
about as bad as his profit to earnings ratio
this will go way over roger's head
ofcourse everything really does

LMAO. The Chi-coms have absolutely nothing to fear from FJB militarily. And they know it. They watched our "withdrawal" from Afghanistan as the rest of the world did. They also know that our president mentally FUCKED.
China is not going to risk a nuclear war by invading Taiwan.
This is very similar to the Cuban missle crisis.
REPORTER: "Do you have a message for Kim Jong-un while you're here?"

Seriously? Who do you think will make that decision in the end? China is laughing at us right now. You know it. I know it. And the entire Biden administration knows it.
Come to think of it... maybe some are too dumb to know it. Maybe you really don't understand. Maybe I overestimate you.
Yeah...

Remember that Gen. Milley felt compelled to call the Chi-coms over Trump. I can just imagine how that asshole must be acting on behalf of FJB.
He clarified his own words.
Similar comments Biden made about Taiwan have prompted confusion in the past.
While the U.S. is required by law to provide democratically governed Taiwan — which Beijing views as a breakaway region — with defensive weapons, a policy of “strategic ambiguity” has long made it unclear what exactly America would do if Taiwan were attacked.
During the news conference, Biden said Washington’s “policy toward Taiwan” had “not changed at all.”
Biden said the U.S. will continue to act in line with the One China policy, which recognizes Washington’s formal relationship with Beijing, but added: “We remain committed to supporting the peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits and ensuring there’s no unilateral change to the status quo.”
That doesn't mean that he is not sane !
Biden wants to end tariffs on...
China 🇨🇳
But FYI I looked on the Washington Post 📫
The question to Biden on Monday wasn’t as explicit as “full force of the military.” But Biden has indeed made U.S. strategic ambiguity policy more ambiguous — whether deliberately or because he has not quite nailed down how he wants to talk about the issue. It’s more and more difficult to believe it’s the latter, given that the matter has now come up repeatedly. And there is perhaps some value in providing mixed signals to China about what an invasion of Taiwan would be met with — despite Biden’s 2001 comments about the folly of a more muscular approach.
Story continues below advertisement
But if Biden’s comments are indeed intended to send mixed signals, we perhaps should be concerned about what’s brewing on the Taiwan Strait — and that Biden could be forced into making good on his statement about defending Taiwan “militarily.”
And don’t take our word for it. In 2001, Biden himself worried that a president making such commitments to Taiwan would box himself in.
“As a matter of diplomacy, there is a huge difference between reserving the right to use force and obligating ourselves, a priori, to come to the defense of Taiwan,” Biden wrote at the time. “The president should not cede to Taiwan, much less to China, the ability automatically to draw us into a war across the Taiwan Strait.”
Despite the points the last paragraph is clearly correct. Like in Ukraine 🇺🇦
Omg , Roger is in full blown Biden Appology mode.

You would think he would get it right one of these times.
And there is perhaps some value in providing mixed signals to China about what an invasion of Taiwan would be met with — despite Biden’s 2001 comments about the folly of a more muscular approach.
Well then what is the purpose to walking back the statements to the point of saying we are not going to get involved militarily if the "plan" is to play good cop bad cop or whatever...
Occam's razor - the explanation with the least amount of assumptions is nearly always the correct one. The least amount of assumptions is that Biden keeps getting it wrong and his handlers keep correcting him. Because, quite frankly... that is exactly what is ACTUALLY happening?
Once again... the liberal argument relies almost exclusively on ignoring reality and relying on a different variety of assumption and fictitious alternate explanations.

The former Finance Chairman of the RNC was an agent for the Chinese government.
Earlier last week, the Justice Department dropped a bombshell allegation against one of the key figures in former President Donald Trump’s circle. According to the Justice Department, billionaire developer Steve Wynn — a man who has known Trump for years and who served as the finance chair of the Republican National Committee during Trump’s first year in office — also worked as a foreign agent on behalf of the Chinese government. As such, the Justice Department is seeking to have Wynn register as a foreign agent.
According to a lawsuit filed by the Justice Department, Wynn used his perch to liaise with other foreign agents working on behalf of China.
According to a lawsuit filed by the Justice Department, Wynn used his perch to liaise with other foreign agents working on behalf of China to try to convince Trump to target an unnamed Chinese dissident, including by revoking the dissident’s visa and placing him on the U.S.’s no-fly list. Wynn’s primary contact in the operation was Trump fundraiser Elliott Broidy, who pleaded guilty in 2020 to working as an unregistered agent on behalf of China — and who at one time served under Wynn as the RNC’s deputy finance chair. (Wynn stepped down as RNC finance chair in 2018 following sexual misconduct claims.)

"The Devil will deceive them that if you die, you're gonna live forever," she continued. "That we'll clone you and download your brain to the internet of things and then we're gonna upload your brain back into that clone and you live forever -- it's a deception."
According to Immanuel, even Bill Gates was "deceived" by this promise of eternal life.
Sleepy Joe is a demonic clone
The White House official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to clarify Biden’s comments, said the U.S. stance has not changed.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin played down the president’s comments as unremarkable, saying Biden had merely reiterated existing policy including the “One China" policy. Biden restated ”our commitment to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,” Austin said, while highlighting "our commitment under the Taiwan Relations Act to help provide Taiwan the means to defend itself.”
He added, “I think the president was clear on the fact that the policy has not changed.”
But given that Russia’s contention that Ukraine is simply a renegade region echoes China’s position on Taiwan, the president’s comments Monday took on the tone of a global doctrine that autocracies should not be allowed to swallow up smaller nations by declaring them rebellious provinces.
The former President and his supporters want to withdraw from Ukraine and NATO and go back to the 1950s isolationist voices.
You really believe that he is the worst in a generation because you have lost your mind...30 other countries are joining with the US and Canada and Ukraine
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced Monday that 20 countries had pledged new security assistance packages for Ukraine, including “critically needed artillery ammunition, coastal defense systems, and tanks and other armored vehicles.”
Austin’s comments came after the second meeting of the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group, an ad hoc body the Pentagon first convened last month at Ramstein Air Force Base, which met virtually Monday. The group has grown and stands at 47 countries, according to Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who also spoke to reporters alongside Austin.
Austin expressed particular gratitude to Denmark, which promised to send Ukraine “a Harpoon launcher and missiles to help Ukraine defend its coast,” he said, as well as the Czech Republic for a “recent donation of attack helicopters, tanks and rocket systems.”
Austin also thanked Italy, Greece, Norway and Poland for sending “critically needed artillery systems and ammunition,” and the United Kingdom “for its leading role in helping to coordinate” the delivery of security assistance to Ukraine, and providing “significant quantities” of British equipment to its fighters.

Wow......Dr Rat is in........BWAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! I am sure you too will have the awareness that Trump really lost and the GOP is heading down the scupper of worseness even though he supports them with his meager intellect BWAAAAAAPAAAAAA!!!!!
The former Finance Chairman of the RNC was an agent for the Chinese government.
As pointed out...
The only reason this is even a story 6 years later...
Is because it is clear that Hunter Biden was an unregistered agent of China as well as several other countries. It is the whole "what about them" argument? Yeah, Hunter might be guilty, but so was some guy who once had Dinner with Trump.
Oh... and Trump never actually granted the guy any favors.
A teacher at a Michigan private school has been placed on leave after showing students pictures of animals with a picture of former President Barack Obama. They asked the class to “identify the primate,” per USA TODAY’s report.
Reports say the teacher (who has not been named) worked at the Birmingham campus of the Roeper School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The campus holds the school’s middle school and high school. Per USA TODAY, the assignment showed students images of different animals including monkeys and then a random picture of Obama.
“Which of the following are primates,” read the assignment. It was given to 30 biology students.

This is horrible. As an animal lover I find it unconscionable that monkeys would be subjected to such cruelty as to be compared to such a fucking asshole as 0linsky.
I would hope that PETA is aware of this and is taking appropriate action so nothing like this ever happens again.
This is a hate crime.

Powerful American Artillery Enters the Fight in Ukraine
The most lethal weapons the West has provided so far to Ukraine are now deployed in combat. Will they make a critical difference for Ukraine’s military in a war that has mostly become an artillery battle?

POKROVSK, Ukraine — Camouflaged in a heap of branches cut from nearby trees, the weapon that Ukraine hopes will make a critical difference in its war with Russia is all but invisible from more than a few feet away.
Soon, a single round shoots out with a boom and a howling, metallic shriek as it sails toward Russian positions.
It is the American-made M777 howitzer. It shoots farther, moves faster and is hidden more easily, and it’s what the Ukrainian military has been waiting for.
The U.S. traditionally has avoided making such an explicit security guarantee to Taiwan, with which it no longer has a mutual defense treaty, instead maintaining a policy of “strategic ambiguity” about how far it would be willing to go. The 1979 Taiwan Relations Act, which has governed U.S. relations with the island, does not require the U.S. to step in militarily if China invades, but makes it American policy to ensure Taiwan has the resources to defend itself and to prevent any unilateral change of status by Beijing.
A White House official said Biden’s comments did not reflect a policy shift for the United States.
However, his words drew a sharp response from mainland China, which has claimed Taiwan to be a rogue province.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin expressed “strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition” to Biden’s comments. “China has no room for compromise or concessions on issues involving China’s core interests such as sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

The people of Taiwan are already prepared in case
The invasion of Ukraine has provided a powerful lesson for people in Taiwan: that a smaller party can resist, and even fight back against a mightier invading force. Residents who spoke to the Guardian said Taiwan shouldn’t rely on others for its survival, pointing to the lack of international boots on the ground in Ukraine, and early delays in coordinating sanctions and other responses.
Before the war, a 2021 survey found public support for better training, longer national service and even conscription of women across demographic and political groups. Anecdotally there is an even greater hunger for civilian defence programs. Existing community groups and courses have reported three- to 10-fold increases in inquiries, and new grassroots initiatives have sprung up across cities.
Enoch Wu, the founder of one of the more high-profile and professional civil training courses, says the undercurrent of demand was there for some time, but “the events in Ukraine gave us an opportunity to express that desire more urgently, and drove more people to take immediate action”.
But that escaped your heart
Roger...
Why are you still defending the crazy old geezer?
Even his own team is walking it back...
Stop being such a suck up!
Objective thinking is beyond your ability to see it from a different perspective.

Jon Meacham, a presidential historian and occasional adviser to Biden, has described the president as “like an upside down iceberg” – mostly visible without much mystery. Valerie Biden Owens, his sister and longtime campaign manger, told the Guardian in a recent interview: “He doesn’t have gaffes. He speaks the truth. Like, hello, surprise, I just said what was true! … You see what you get with Joe.”

Absurd indeed. And here's where the alky STOLE that little gem of asshattery -
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/may/23/biden-taiwan-china-strategic-ambiguity-us-foreign-policy
China considers the democratic island of Taiwan its territory under its “one-China” principle, and says it is the most sensitive and important issue in its relationship with Washington.
This is where strategic ambiguity comes in. While the US is required by law to provide Taiwan with the means to defend itself, it has never directly promised to intervene militarily in a conflict with China – but also never promised to stay out.
This deliberate vagueness has – so far – helped deter China from invading Taiwan while also helping deter the self-ruled island from declaring full independence. Either scenario would trigger a major geopolitical crisis.
Last year, Kurt Campbell, the US policy coordinator for the Indo-Pacific, defended the principle of strategic ambiguity, saying there were “significant downsides” to “strategic clarity”.
But Biden has already shown himself less comfortable with shades of grey than his predecessors, insisting on a full withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan last year despite the ensuing chaos and collapse than enabled the Taliban to regain power. He has also been pushing the envelope on Taiwan for some time.
I guess Roger should explain to us how Biden is less popular as President than even Trump was? Lowest first term approvals in a generation?
And by the way... our policy on Taiwan is not that we will intervene militarily. To suggest that he is just "speaking the truth" is dumb.
Well, actually it's probably not dumb. The person is counting on the remaining few Americans who support the idiot to be dumb and fall for it!
Are dumb enough to fall for it Roger?
Or smart enough to see the truth?
Here is the headlines to that Guardian Article:
Biden’s Taiwan vow creates confusion not clarity – and raises China tensions
President’s blunt response appears to undercut US ‘strategic ambiguity’ on Taiwan as White House forced to walk back remarks
Pro tip -
When you see the alky post a comment that's even remotely eloquent and/or at least grammatically correct and devoid of his usual word salad, assume it to be stolen. Plagiarized. With the source never credited.
The alky is a typical leftist. All they do well is lie and steal.
The articles goes on:
Then, in October, the president told a CNN town hall, “Yes, we have a commitment to do that,” when asked if the US would come to the defence of Taiwan. Bonnie Glaser, a Taiwan expert at the German Marshall Fund of the United States thinktank in Washington, called Biden’s remark a “gaffe” and said it was “patently not true” that the US has a commitment to defend Taiwan.
Glaser, of the the German Marshall Fund, added in a Twitter post: “A senior official from the Biden administration should give a comprehensive speech on US policy toward Taiwan. The confusion and misstatements are more likely to undermine deterrence than strengthen it.”
So apparently someone took a section (out of context) from this article, which is actually extremely critical of Biden and his statements... and someone is trying to suggest that Biden's statements create the ambiguity that we would want...
But rather, they are saying that Biden is undercutting our long term strategy of strategic ambiguity.
So Roger...
This person agrees with you...
If you think Biden's statements were gaffes and that he is undermining our China strategy, causing unnecessary tensions, and putting us closer to a China conflict.
Is that what you think?
You didn't even read the fucking article. You probably just took someone else's out of context quote... because you are that fucking stupid!

U.S. ally Japan, which long shied away from military commitments in the region, more recently has been at the leading edge of a more assertive posture on Taiwan, making the location of Mr. Biden’s comments significant. Standing next to the president, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said in response to a question on Taiwan that he would work with the U.S. to ensure no one in East Asia could imitate what Russia did to Ukraine.
“We will dramatically strengthen our military,” Mr. Kishida said.
A key backer of the Kishida government, former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, in April called for the U.S. to abandon strategic ambiguity on Taiwan. South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and Mr. Biden named Taiwan as a security concern after meeting Saturday, a reference the two countries had long refrained from including in joint statements.
At a CNN Town Hall event in October, he responded to a question about the U.S. defending Taiwan by saying, “Yes, we have a commitment to do that.” In both instances, White House officials later said U.S. policy on Taiwan hadn’t changed.
Su Tzu-yun, a researcher at the Institute for National Defense and Security Research, which is backed by the Taiwanese military, said Mr. Biden’s repeated comments and statements about Taiwan by U.S. allies marked a shift.
“The U.S. is moving toward ‘constructive clarity’ from its so-called strategic ambiguity,” Mr. Su said. He called Mr. Biden’s remarks critical to deterring China’s military ambitions.
Are some people concerned about it but that's normal 🤷

He's not perfect but I think he's doing better than Trump would have done.

President Biden invited me for lunch at the White House last Monday. But it was all off the record — so I can’t tell you anything he said.
I can, though, tell you two things — what I ate and how I felt after. I ate a tuna salad sandwich with tomato on whole wheat bread, with a bowl of mixed fruit and a chocolate milkshake for dessert that was so good it should have been against the law.
What I felt afterward was this: For all you knuckleheads on Fox who say that Biden can’t put two sentences together, here’s a news flash: He just put NATO together, Europe together and the whole Western alliance together — stretching from Canada up to Finland and all the way to Japan — to help Ukraine protect its fledgling democracy from Vladimir Putin’s fascist assault.
In doing so, he has enabled Ukraine to inflict significant losses on Russia’s invading army, thanks to a rapid deployment of U.S. and NATO trainers and massive transfers of precision weapons. And not a single American soldier was lost.
I read the whole thing
Doubtful...
it was an article completely critical of Biden.
If you had read the headline... you would have known that.
You took it as someone who believed he was being clever and that it was someone who agreed with you.
But I actually do not believe that you took it that way. I believe you probably found that particular quote from someone else who was providing it to you "out of context" because that is all people can do to defend Biden.
So Freidman believes that Europe cannot function without the guidance of an 80 year old dunce? That without Biden, not a single European leader would have stood up to Putin?
Well there you go!
Whatever fucking credibility Freidman once had.
it's all gone now...
What a fucking ridiculous moron!

POTUS says U.S. would send military to Taiwan if China invades. But not troops
President Biden said Monday that the United States would come to Taiwan’s defense militarily if China invades and tries to take over the self-ruled island by force.
"That's the commitment we made," Biden said in a news conference in Tokyo with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
U.S. relations with the island are governed by the 1979 Taiwan Relations Act, which outlines the U.S. commitment to help Taiwan maintain its military defense.
It does not require the U.S. to intervene militarily – which Biden has ruled out in Ukraine.
On Monday, Biden and Kishida said they still support the "One China" policy that recognizes there is only one Chinese government – the one in Beijing.
"But that does not mean that China has the jurisdiction to go in and use force to take over Taiwan," Biden said. "It will dislocate the entire region."
That's one of the reasons why, he said, Russia must pay a "dear price" for its invasion of Ukraine. If Russia is not held accountable, Biden said, "then what signal does that send to China about the cost of attempting to take Taiwan by force?"
Because he united Europe, he is doing the same thing in regards to Taiwan
Whatever fucking credibility Freidman once had.
it's all gone now...
Well evidently he a had a really good tuna salad sandwich with tomato on whole wheat bead and a milkshake.
WTF??
Without Biden Europe would not have united to defend Ukraine. Because Trump is an isolationist

Europe doesn't need a US President to guide them. They are adults and what happens with Russia is on their doorstep (not ours).
For you to suggest that they cannot function without Biden?
Jesus... go change your shorts again. You just shit in them!
Btw... we signed more international peace treaties in four years under Trump than we did in eight under Obama? So apparently Trump was either a pretty good isolationist negotiator, or these other Presidents are worthless pieces of crap. How do you explain that?
“As the president said, our ‘One China’ policy has not changed. He reiterated that policy and our commitment to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,” Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin told reporters at the Pentagon.
Standing alongside Austin, top US general Mark Milley declined to answer a question on the risks that would be involved in defending Taiwan in the case of a Chinese invasion.
Asked whether he supports sending US troops to Taiwan, Milley said: “I will render my advice at the moment in time to the president and the secretary of defence.”
People like you said that in 1948. Eisenhower wouldn't agree with you

TOKYO (AP) — President Joe Biden said Monday the U.S. would intervene militarily if China were to invade Taiwan, declaring the commitment to protect the island is “even stronger” after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It was one of the most forceful presidential statements in support of Taiwan’s self-governing in decades.
Biden, at a news conference in Tokyo, said “yes” when asked if he was willing to get involved militarily to defend Taiwan if China invaded. “That’s the commitment we made,” he added.
The U.S. traditionally has avoided making such an explicit security guarantee to Taiwan, with which it no longer has a mutual defense treaty, instead maintaining a policy of “strategic ambiguity” about how far it would be willing to go. the ones that you kept saying were "Jim Crow" and now you apparently think that it proves you right that they are setting records?
Actually Roger...
You were wrong. Abrams was wrong! MLB was fucking stupid and wrong!
And there was no Jim Crow or any voter suppression there!
Just stupid people who fell for the dumb rhetoric that those of us with intelligence knew was wrong!
Now you are admitting that you were wrong to criticize those laws!
Thanks for your admission!
Roger fell for the lie too!
Patsy Reid — 70 years old, Black and retired — said she was surprised she didn’t encounter problems when she voted early this month. Reid cast her ballot for Abrams in the Democratic primary but feared that her vote could be discounted given reports of voter suppression against people of color in Georgia.
“I had heard that they were going to try to deter us in any way possible because of the fact that we didn’t go Republican on the last election, when Trump didn’t win,” Reid said. “To go in there and vote as easily as I did and to be treated with the respect that I knew I deserved as an American citizen — I was really thrown back.”
Inflation has surged in countries around the world as pandemic-hobbled economies lurched back into stride. That process strained manufacturers’ supply muscles, all the more so since the pandemic created new patterns of consumer demand that businesses weren’t prepared to meet.

Strategic ambiguity is looking a little less ambiguous
Mr Biden's statements on defending Taiwan from China are starting to look less off the cuff and more like a deliberate strategy.
Given the importance of the question, and the regularity with which it is posed to the US president, the answer should be easy enough to bat away - as indeed the Japanese prime minister, Fumio Kishida, did.
Instead, Mr Biden again required official clarification immediately afterwards.
The policy has not changed, the White House said.
Anyone who listened to Mr Biden's answer might think otherwise.
And perhaps that is the point: this is at least the third time Mr Biden has made similar comments on defending Taiwan.
The policy may not have officially changed but this is a way of signalling to Beijing what would likely happen in case of a Chinese invasion.
Strategic ambiguity is looking a little less ambiguous.
You really believe that movie 🎬
LONDON — The head of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin survived an assassination attempt two months ago.
Speaking to the Ukrainian news outlet Pravda Ukraine, Maj. Gen. Kyrylo Budanov said there was an “unsuccessful” attempt against the Kremlin leader’s life at the start of Russia’s brutal invasion of its neighbor.
“Putin was assassinated,” Budanov told the news outlet. “He was even attacked in the line of, as they say, representatives of the Caucasus not so long ago. This is nonpublic information. Absolutely unsuccessful attempt, but it really took place. … It was about two months ago.”

The worst President in history is negotiating between Israel and Saudi Arabia and Egypt 🇪🇬
The Biden administration has been quietly mediating among Saudi Arabia, Israel and Egypt on negotiations that, if successful, could be a first step on the road to the normalization of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel.
It involves finalizing the transfer of two strategic islands in the Red Sea from Egyptian to Saudi sovereignty, five U.S. and Israeli sources told Axios.
Why it matters: If an arrangement is reached, it would be a significant foreign policy achievement for the Biden administration in the Middle East.
The U.S. and Israeli sources said the agreement is not complete and the sensitive negotiations are ongoing, according to the U.S. and Israeli sources who are knowledgeable about the negotiations but who are not at liberty to publicly discuss them. The White House wants an agreement to be reached before President Biden's upcoming trip to the Middle East at the end of June, which could include a stop in Saudi Arabia, according to the sources. The Tiran and Sanafir islands control the Straits of Tiran — a strategic sea passage to the ports of Aqaba in Jordan and Eilat in Israel. Saudi and Egyptian officials say Saudi Arabia gave Egypt control of the islands in 1950. They were later demilitarized as part of the 1979 Israeli-Egyptian peace treaty. The White House and the Israeli prime minister’s office declined to comment. The embassies of Saudi Arabia and Egypt did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The big picture: According to the sources, the Biden administration believes finalizing an arrangement could build trust between the parties and create an opening to warm relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia, which do not have official diplomatic relations.
It would be the most significant U.S. foreign policy achievement in the Middle East since the Abraham Accords, which were brokered by the Trump administration and led to normalization agreements between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco.Saudi Arabia supported the Abraham Accords but made it clear at the time they wouldn't normalize relations with Israel unless there was serious progress in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
Successful negotiations could also lower tensions between the Biden administration and Saudi Arabia.
