Putin's exit 'being discussed behind the scenes' in Kremlin
A fascinating report has emerged that purports to offer an insight into a growing sense of disillusionment with Vladimir Putin among Russia's elite.
Meduza, an independent news website based in Lativia, cites sources it says are close to the Kremlin as saying the president is the focus of dissatisfaction among those both for and against the war he launched in Ukraine.
While the source of anger among opponents of the military action is clear, those who supported the invasion are reportedly unhappy at the lack of progress made to date and want a "tougher" approach.
Senior business figures and many members of the government are said to be displeased that Mr Putin initiated the war without thinking about the scale of the sanctions imposed as a result.
And sources close to his administration say a future without the president is "increasingly being discussed" - with conversations about potential successors taking place "behind the scenes in the Kremlin", according to the site.
It suggests these include Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin, prominent Putin ally and former president Dmitry Medvedev and first deputy head of the presidential administration Sergei Kiriyenko.
The report says that while the discussions do not involve efforts to "overthrow Putin right now and a conspiracy.... being prepared", "there is an understanding, or a wish, that in a fairly foreseeable future he will not govern the state".
"The president messed up, but then everything can be fixed - somehow come to an agreement [with the West and Ukraine]," one interlocutor told the site.
However, the site adds that its sources emphasise that "everyone in power understands that Putin can leave the presidency only if his health deteriorates seriously" - meaning that currently "the dissatisfaction of high-ranking officials is not manifested in anything - except for talking with each other".

A new Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows that more than 6 in 10 Donald Trump voters (61%) agree that “a group of people in this country are trying to replace native-born Americans with immigrants and people of color who share their political views” — a core tenet of the false conspiracy theory known as the “great replacement.”
Less than a quarter of Trump voters (22%) disagree with that statement.
So-called replacement theory has been covered extensively in the days following the May 14 murder spree carried out by a white supremacist at a Buffalo, N.Y., grocery store. The suspect, an adherent of the conspiracy theory, shot and killed 10 Black shoppers in the attack.

Am I thrilled that babies who need specialized formula will be taken care of? Absolutely. HOWEVER, there’s a problem.
The formula was offloaded and taken to a Nestle distribution center. There, a standard quality control check will be conducted before the supplies are sent to hospitals, pharmacies and doctor’s offices, The Associated Press reported, quoting an administration official on-site.
That’s correct, the formula will be sourced to doctors and pharmacies BEFORE landing in the hands of parents and the mouths of babies. Again, this is not a quick fix and we are supposed to cheer that a plane carrying 70,000 pounds (not tons as the original White House tweet claimed) has landed.
Here’s the issue with all of this. That ONE airlift will take care of about 9,000 babies for maybe a week. How many planeloads are needed? How many planeloads of formula from Europe are planned of the specialized formula and for how long? That’s unclear. In fact, the two plane loads that landed this weekend are the only ones until another 114 pallets arrives later this week.
The urgency is lacking here. There are thousands of babies across the U.S. who need formula. And it’s nowhere to be found. So, to see the Biden Administration essentially slow-walking the solutions to this crisis doesn’t solve the problems for the rest of the babies out there who need regular formula.

One of the Republican-fascist movement's greatest villains is Barack Obama, the country's first Black president, whose ascendance to power represented a symbolic triumph for multiracial democracy that the right found unacceptable. The very presence of Obama and his family in the White House was understood as an insult and provocation to the core values and beliefs of the Republican Party, the "conservative" movement and the larger white right.
In a sense, they had a point: Obama's presidency represented a diverse and more cosmopolitan America — and an existential threat to the vision of the country and its future embodied in Donald Trump's movement and the current Republican Party.
PHOENIX (AP) — An impassioned effort by some Arizona Senate Republicans to ban the use of ballot drop boxes failed Monday.
Scottsdale Sen. Michelle Ugenti-Rita’s efforts to change a proposal requiring drop boxes to have video monitoring was blocked by fellow GOP senators who knew House Republicans weren’t on board with the harsher proposal. And the whole exercise ended up being in vain after Republican Sen. Paul Boyer of Glendale joined all Senate Democrats in rejecting the measure outright.
Ugenti-Rita said drop boxes are rife with possibilities for “ballot harvesting,” a pejorative term for dropping off completed ballots for other people. The Legislature in 2016 made it a felony to return another person’s mail ballots unless it is for a family member or if the person returning the ballot is a caregiver.
She pointed to recent documentary that alleged thousands of ballots were illegally cast in 2020 battleground states . Fact-checkers have shown the arguments made in “2000 Mules” are full of unsupported allegations that thousands of ballots were illegally deposited into drop boxes.

Both Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) were strong advocates of tracking humans when it came to COVID. Baldwin used the inequity and disparity excuse to push for more COVID contact tracing in minority communities.
Baldwin said the country needs to do a better job to know how many people in communities of color have access to testing, are testing positive, or are dying.
According to polls, “communities of color” are still showing vaccination rates far below the average. Did she ever consider that part of the reason for that is they do not want to be tracked or traced?
But Baldwin gladly plowed ahead with her goal of ensuring tracking measures were inserted into the garbage COVID legislation that Congress is still spitting out.
Baldwin said she was able to get some of the health tracking measures into legislation passed this week. She said she’ll keep pushing for the economic data as well.

Sen. Klobuchar is obsessed with tech companies spreading misinformation about COVID vaccinations, and pushing for FDA approval of vaccines for children 5-11 years of age. Klobuchar is worried about privacy, except when it comes to vaccine tracking and databases.
So, it seems for Democrats, it is perfectly okay to use location data to contact trace for COVID, vaccine adherence, or any other disease they deem is a threat to the public health, but if you use this data to help a woman avert an abortion you’re the worst.

State officials said that cell phone data that allegedly showed 279 cellphones tracked multiple times within 100 feet of an absentee drop box was not evidence of a crime, Georgia Public Radio found.

We asked True the Vote if it had turned over information to prosecutors and, if so, in which jurisdictions. In response, the group said it will release information in the coming weeks. State election officials in Michigan and Wisconsin were not aware of any such prosecutorial investigations by state agencies based on True the Vote’s allegations. A spokesperson for the Philadelphia district attorney said such claims were not referred to local law enforcement for investigation.
"The actual evidence hasn’t been made public so it's hard to evaluate the claims when the people making the allegations won’t share the information that is the basis for their claims," said McDonald.
More than a year after the presidential election, the evidence has only grown that there was a secure election.
The Associated Press found in December 2021 fewer than 475 potential voter fraud cases in six battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
"Have there been isolated incidents of fraud? Yes," McDonald said. That’s true in any election in which tens of millions of people cast ballots. "But is there any evidence of some sort of mass fraudulent voting of any sort? No."

"This was a bunch of rowdy people walking through a hallway," he said on Fox News less than two months after the attack.

Several of these candidates, many of whom Trump has endorsed, refuse to acknowledge Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 election and have embraced the idea of “decertifying” the presidential election. Some have called for jailing their political rivals. Many of these contests are races for secretary of state, the chief election official in many places, and a little-known office. If these candidates are successful, there is concern that the pieces will be in place to overturn the results of a future election.

He hosted Rudy Giuliani in the immediate aftermath of the 2020 election as he spread misinformation about the election. He has also introduced legislation to “decertify” the 2020 election.

Bollick wrote an unsuccessful bill that would have allowed the Arizona legislature to overturn the results of an election. She also signed a resolution in December 2020 asking Congress to give Arizona’s 11 electoral college votes to Trump, even though Joe Biden won the state.

After losing his Senate re-election campaign in 2020, Perdue announced he was running for governor against Brian Kemp, Georgia’s Republican incumbent. Trump is backing Perdue as he continues to fume at Kemp over the governor’s refusal to block certification of Biden’s victory in 2020.

Perdue, considered a long shot to beat Kemp, has embraced election conspiracies. “In my election and the president’s election, they were stolen. The evidence is compelling now,” he said in March. He said he would not have certified the 2020 election. After his campaign announcement, he joined a lawsuit seeking to show that there “were serious violations of Georgia law in the Fulton absentee ballot tabulation”.

WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump is facing what could be his biggest electoral defeat since 2020 as he attempts to settle old scores against fellow Republicans in Georgia.
In the marquee race of the day, which includes primaries in Alabama and runoffs in Texas, Trump-backed David Perdue is sputtering in his bid to unseat Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, whom the former president is determined to oust for not joining his effort to overturn the state's presidential election results two years ago.

Whatever these steps might do to alleviate the immediate crisis, the baby formula shortage was a long time in the making. Four major manufacturers — Abbott Laboratories, Mead Johnson Nutrition, Nestlé USA and Perrigo — account for about 90 percent of sales. With such a concentrated market, interrupted production at one company can cause a serious supply disruption across the country.
