FBI lies and says debunked Trump Russia intelligence came from DOJ rather than HIllary campaign?

Even more important is that ISIS planned to kill Former President George W Bush.

An alleged ISIS operative in the U.S. was plotting to kill George W. Bush, going so far as to travel to Dallas in November to take video around the former president’s home and recruiting help from a team of compatriots he hoped to smuggle into the country over the Mexican border, according to an FBI search-warrant application filed March 23 and unsealed this week in the Southern District of Ohio.

The FBI said it uncovered the scheme through the work of two confidential informants and surveillance of the alleged plotter’s account on the Meta-owned WhatsApp messaging platform. The alleged ISIS operative, based in Columbus, Ohio, said he wanted to assassinate Bush because he felt the former president was responsible for killing many Iraqis and breaking apart the country after the U.S. military invaded the country in 2003, according to the warrant.

The case shows how federal investigators continue to monitor threats from ISIS even as the group has been severely weakened by American intelligence and military operations in recent years. It also shows how the FBI, despite its claims of being prevented from investigating major crimes because of Meta and other tech providers’ use of encryption, has been able to work around WhatsApp security by using old-school policing with sourcing of informants and tracking the metadata they can get from the messaging company.

A deeply alarming attack on democracy is well under way in America.

Latching on to Donald Trump’s lies about the 2020 election, candidates across the country are running for positions in which they would exert enormous influence over the way ballots are cast and counted. Candidates who have embraced election lies are also seeking to be governors in swing states like Arizona and Pennsylvania, where they would play a critical role in certifying elections.

Russia‑Ukraine war: morethan 200 bodies found in Mariupol basement; invasion in ‘most active phase’, says Ukraine – live

Several of these candidates, many of whom Trump has endorsed, refuse to acknowledge Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 election and have embraced the idea of “decertifying” the presidential election. Some have called for jailing their political rivals. Many of these contests are races for secretary of state, the chief election official in many places, and a little-known office. If these candidates are successful, there is concern that the pieces will be in place to overturn the results of a future election.

Is Trumpism this generation's version of the Confederacy?

Thom Hartmann

May 24, 2022

Donald Trump promoted a modern Civil War in America this week on his social media platform. Civil War?

Further confounding things, Republican candidates like Pennsylvania’s Kathy Barnette are openly running as ultra-MAGA candidates, having hijacked Trumpism without Trump himself. It’s causing the media and political elites to have a “Huh? What?” moment.

Trumpism without Trump? Could it even be a thing?

Apparently so: candidates Trump has openly disavowed are claiming Trumpism as their standard, the flag they’ll carry into the election and into office if they win.

Trumpism, they proclaim, is a coherent political philosophy of its own that has replaced conservativism as the dominant system of political theory in the “new” Republican Party.

But is Trumpism really new?

Consider its main principles:

*Assert white supremacy*
Fetishize rule by a wealthy elite*
Brand the movement with its own flag and slogans separate from the country’s
*Put the “rights” of business above those of workers
*Marginalize and destroy trust in the media
*Maintain a strict racial and gender hierarchy
*Arm the movement’s foot soldiers
*Regulate school curriculum to promote a racist worldview
*Embrace authoritarian preachers to claim the appearance of Christianity
*Make alliances with foreign authoritarians
*Rig elections and prevent minorities from voting
*Embrace a police state for all but the richest
*Accuse political opponents of demonic or perverse behavior
*Criminalize abortion
*Heavily criminalize minor behaviors like drug use
*Normalize violence as a political tool
*Oppose worker organizing efforts
*Claim the mantle of “the average man” fighting against the tyranny of the “deep state”
*Make it hard for all but the wealthy to get a college education
*Minimize government regulation of working conditions and products
*Establish a mythology of victimhood and fear of “replacement”

This is not Barry Goldwater’s, Ronald Reagan’s, or even George W. Bush’s Republican Party

Wow Roger...

Great description of the 2022 Democratic Party huh?

Roger Amick said...

Today’s Republican Party, under the control of Trumpism, is every bit as real a threat to the survival of our republic as was the Confederacy in the 1860s.

It’s emerged from similar conditions and reflects a nearly identical worldview grounded in the fear of losing white supremacy. It’s based in the American South, as was the Confederacy.

The media needs to wake the hell up. The American government, the American people, and the Democratic Party must see the Trumpist Republican Party for the threat it is.

This Will happen if Trump or DeSantis wins in 2024.

While elections are important and the necessity of choosing candidates that claim they will fight to reverse the course of the nation is vital, this war for the soul of the nation cannot be won in the halls of Congress or in the Oval Office or in the chambers of the Supreme Court, or in the panoply of government buildings that line the streets of Washington, D.C.

Instead, the American people can win this war if they unite and wage unconstrained combat with the American left by attacking the two core elements of the strategy that they used.

Everyone of any race or ethnicity must confidently rise up and adamantly tell the American left and ruling elites to shove it.  That they refuse to be pitted against each other any longer.  That they are first and foremost Americans, regardless of race or ethnicity.  That they will no longer be intimidated and manipulated through false accusations and deliberate misrepresentations of so-called racism.  That the current White population will no longer mindlessly wallow in guilt for a past they had nothing to do with.  And, that the Black population will no longer be manipulated and used as disposable pawns by the radical left. Every American who cares about the future of their progeny must immediately begin to boycott the media/entertainment complex and bankrupt the education establishment by refusing to attend or by choosing viable alternatives that respect the citizenry and tenets of the nation’s founding.

The war can be won by a unified and determined American citizenry. However, time is rapidly running out as no nation racked by racial or ethnic animosity and tribalism can long survive.

On July 4, 2026, the United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of its founding.  What sort of occasion will it be?  A national celebration of a united people reveling in freedom and prosperity or an overwhelmingly fractionalized and demoralized nation on the cusp of irreversible and inevitable dissolution?

Nice!!

And they got state boundaries right. The GA bicentennial quarter the fed lopped off our most northwestern county. MTG’s disctrict, it might be cause of her anger

The outline of Georgia on the state's quarter is conspicuously missing the upper left corner (Dade County). Interestingly, Dade County has the nickname "The independent state of Dade," stemming from a legend that during the civil war, Dade County seceded from the nation before the rest of Georgia and did not officially rejoin the state until 1945, and also because Dade is isolated from the rest of Georgia by Lookout Mountain - Georgian visitors to Dade County have to enter Alabama or Tennessee to skirt the mountain.

The culture of Trump will lead to

Beyond shared beliefs, the MAGA affinity for Putinism is rooted in sordid self-interest: The Kremlin helped Trump win office in 2016 and is likely to aid him again if he runs in 2024. The GOP has become a cult of personality, and the cult leader not only admires Putin but enjoys a mutually beneficial relationship with him. So the cult followers fall into line.

The extent to which pro-Russia sentiment has become embedded within the MAGA movement means it’s hard to take much satisfaction from the rejection of isolationism among most Americans and even most Republicans. If Trump takes power again, Putin’s fellow travelers will again be in control of U.S. foreign policy — and Ukraine, NATO and the rest of the “Free World” will be out of luck.

We will dramatically become a fascist nation

The governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, said 14 students and one teacher were shot and killed at an elementary school in Uvalde, in the south-west of the state, on Tuesday.

Abbott said the gunman, who he named as Salvador Romas, an 18-year-old male from Uvalde, “shot and killed incomprehensibly 14 students and killed the teacher … the shooter, he himself is deceased and it is believed responding officers killed him”.

Abbott said the gunman had a handgun and “may have also had a rifle”.

Authorities in Uvalde were due to address reporters.

Uvalde memorial hospital earlier said it received 13 children via ambulance or bus for treatment after a shooter was reported at Robb elementary school, about 85 miles west of San Antonio. The hospital said two died. Another hospital, University hospital, said a 66-year-old woman was in critical condition.

In Washington, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security said the secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, had been briefed.

The spokesperson also said US Customs and Border Protection “immediately responded to the scene to provide support, including medical aid. DHS is actively coordinating with federal, state, and local partners and will continue to provide the department’s full support.”

The Uvalde school district has an enrollment of just under 600.

“Parents are asked to pick up students at the regular dismissal times at the child’s campus,” the district said on Facebook. “There will be no bus transportation. Officers will be on site to escort students to the parents cars. Parents please be patient as lines will be long.”

The shooting comes little more than a week since 10 people were killed in a supermarket in a predominantly African American area of Buffalo, New York, an attack which again raised debate about why the US has failed to pass meaningful such reform.

Ten years ago, 20 children and six adults were killed at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. An attempt to pass gun control legislation after that tragedy, in which Joe Biden was involved as vice-president, fell in the US Senate.

Online on Tuesday, Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action, a group which campaigns for gun control reform, wrote: “Fervently lifting Uvalde up in prayer while refusing to do a goddamned thing to stop gun violence is why this keeps happening, especially in Texas.”

Oh for chrissakes...

ALBANY — The state abruptly canceled the Regents exam in U.S. history and government Tuesday, saying content in the test could compound student trauma regarding the Buffalo shooting.

The tests had already been printed and were ready to be sent to schools. Students were to take it June 1. It has been entirely canceled; the state won’t rewrite it to administer later in June.

In a letter posted on the state Education Department website, Commissioner Betty Rosa wrote that the exam’s content was “educationally sound” but was reviewed in the wake of the mass shooting.

“During that review, our experts determined that there is content on the new Regents Examination in United States history and government (framework) that has the potential to compound student trauma caused by the recent violence in Buffalo,” Rosa wrote.

“While developed by NYS-certified social studies teachers more than two years ago and field-tested to confirm that the exam's content is educationally sound, the tragedy in Buffalo has created an unexpected and unintended context for the planned assessment.”

She did not offer details about the content. Later, spokeswoman Emily DeSantis issued a statement that suggested one question was involved.

She wrote that "the tragedy in Buffalo has created an unexpected and unintended context for the planned assessment. In the wake of the Buffalo tragedy, it is not appropriate to administer the exam with a question that could compound the grief and hardship faced by our school communities.”

Ramos shot his grandmother before heading to the school, and was in a shootout with border patrol agents before barricading himself inside the school buildings
