Inflation spurs record decline in workers' wages and benefits
Total compensation costs for civilian workers declined 3.7% over the past 12 months ending in March, after accounting for inflation, according to the Employment Cost Index report published Friday.

It's the largest decline since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began inflation-adjusted records in 2001. What's more, it comes at a time when compensation costs -- which includes the wages employers pay plus health, retirement and other benefits -- are rising swiftly, before accounting for inflation, as employers try to fill positions and hold on to their staff.

Jimmy Carter will go to his grave safe in the knowledge that he will not go down as the most epic presidential failure of all time.

This is probably the most exquisite example of Karma that any of us will ever witness.

What sucks for us is that things are poised to only get worse.

Joe Randazzo: The Fascist Dictatorial Brotherhood

This commentary is by Joe Randazzo, a resident of South Burlington.

Is Russia a communist country? The answer is most decidedly no. Communism ended in Russia in 1991 with the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Although it claims to be a federal democratic state, the reality is quite the opposite. Since Putin took power in 2000, Russia has devolved into a right-wing fascist state. He has eroded human rights and democratic freedoms, jailed dissidents, and engaged in political assassinations throughout the world.

Putin now holds the power at all levels in Russia.

In 1998, Hillary Clinton coined the term “vast right-wing conspiracy” while defending Bill Clinton's beleaguered presidency. That claim has ultimately been proved. However, there is another worldwide right-wing conspiracy. Let's call it the Fascist Dictatorial Brotherhood.

Putin is a former KGB operative. He knows how to infiltrate many aspects of American society and has systematically undermined the basic tenets of our democracy. In 2014, after Russia annexed Crimea, conservative Pat Buchanan ignorantly wrote: “In the culture war for the future of mankind, Putin is planting Russia’s flag firmly on the side of traditional Christianity.”

From an article written by Casey Michel in 2017: “Before 2014, Russia was largely seen as an importer for Christian fundamentalists, most especially from the U.S. But as the Kremlin dissolved diplomatic norms in 2014, Moscow began forging a new role for itself at the helm of the global Christian right.

“And Moscow’s grip at the tiller of a globally resurgent right has only tightened since. Not only have Russian banks funded groups like France’s National Front, but Moscow has hosted international conferences on everything from neo-Nazi networking to domestic secessionists attempting to rupture the U.S.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

“Meanwhile, American fundamentalists bent on unwinding minority protections in the U.S. have increasingly leaned on Russia for support — and for a model they’d bring to bear back home, from targeting LGBT communities to undoing abortion rights throughout the country.

a {color:#000000}body {line-height:0;margin:0;background:transparent;}#google_image_div {overflow: hidden;position: absolute;}body{visibility:hidden} " id="google_ads_iframe_2" style="box-sizing: inherit; margin: auto; padding: 0px !important; border: 0px !important; outline: 0px; font-size: 18px; vertical-align: baseline; background: transparent; position: absolute; display: block; height: 250px; max-height: 100%; max-width: 100%; min-height: 0px; min-width: 0px; width: 300px; inset: 0px;">

“It’s no coincidence that Buchanan’s column, which outlined the players within the cultural, social, moral war between Russia and the hedonistic West, mentioned a semi-obscure group called the World Congress of Families. As Buchanan wrote, the WCF listed Russia’s emergence as a Pro-Family Leader as one of the 10 best trends of 2013. Indeed, in order to outline how Russia challenged — and supplanted — the U.S. role as a clarion for Christian fundamentalists, you have to parse the WCF’s role, and the group’s attendant impact on Russian policy over the past few years.”

It isn't by accident that the fundamentalist Christian right supports Donald Trump in spite of his immoral and destructive activities. The Christian right's anti-democratic platforms have been supported by Russia for several decades. Trump became their spokesperson.

Donald Trump has been a Putin ally since Trump's visit to Moscow in 1987. His deferential treatment of anything that Putin initiated placed Trump firmly in the Fascist Dictatorial Brotherhood.

There are other world leaders who are members of the club. Brazil's Bolsonaro has just visited Moscow, in spite of the current Ukranian crisis. We can also include Modi of India, Widodo in Indonesia, Orban in Hungary, LePen in France, Salvini in Italy, Erdogan in Turkey, Duterte in the Phillipines, Kaczynski in Poland, and quite a few others.

These so-called “populist” leaders are nationalists, and many have a kleptocratic, autocratic agenda.

Fascism doesn't just appear overnight. According to an excellent definition by Wikipedia: “Fascists believe that liberal democracy is obsolete. They regard the complete mobilization of society under a totalitarian one-party state as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties. A fascist state is led by a strong leader (such as a dictator) and a martial-law government composed of the members of the governing fascist party to forge national unity and maintain a stable and orderly society.”

The frightening fact is that Russia is firmly in the dictatorial fascist camp. Under Donald Trump, the United States was on the road to that same fate. He must not be allowed back in office.

Donald Trump actually was quoted on several occasions saying that Hillary Clinton and her aides should be killed. He has advocated violence by championing the Jan. 6 terrorism.

What can be done? There is now a golden opportunity to reverse the decades of erosion that have been planted by Putin and then Trump to destroy the underpinnings of this country.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

We are at a momentous crossroad. The Republican National Committee said that the traitorous terrorism of Jan. 6 was legitimate political discourse. I guarantee that both Putin and Trump did celebratory jigs when they heard the news.

However, leaders who live by violence and by often-repeated lies usually fall victims to their own excesses. In spite of our current political polarization, all members of the U.S. Senate voted for a symbolic resolution condemning Russia for its imminent threat to invade Ukraine.

This must “filter down” to each and every American pulpit. The religious right must abandon the idea that people like Putin and Trump are messengers from God. It's vital for all religious people in America to realize that they have been targeted by Putin and Trump to do their bidding.

The right wing has been on the ascendant for the last decade. However, all things political have a shelf life and come in cycles. I'm hoping that we have hit rock bottom where the entire world sees Putin and Trump (and those who support them) for who they really are. My hope is that, by invading Ukraine, Putin will actually be destroying himself.

In his poem “The Road Not Taken,” Robert Frost wrote:

a {color:#000000}body {line-height:0;margin:0;background:transparent;}#google_image_div {overflow: hidden;position: absolute;}body{visibility:hidden} " id="google_ads_iframe_1" style="box-sizing: inherit; margin: auto; padding: 0px !important; border: 0px !important; outline: 0px; font-size: 18px; vertical-align: baseline; background: transparent; position: absolute; display: block; height: 250px; max-height: 100%; max-width: 100%; min-height: 0px; min-width: 0px; width: 300px; inset: 0px;">

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

We have two roads before us. If we travel down the wrong road, it will be to the destruction of our democracy. If we want God on our side, it's up to us to recognize those people who are truly good, and those who are evil. Putin and Trump are evil.

If the Republican take the House and fire McCarthy

This piece of shit will be the speaker of the House of Representatives

Anti-hate speech activists have condemned the Republican US congressman Jim Jordan for his apparent endorsement of Donald Trump’s declaration that members of Hillary Clinton’s campaign staff should have been executed.

Jordan asserted on Fox & Friends that the former president was “right on target” when he accused Clinton’s aides of spying on him, and that in another time in US history their “crime would have been punishable by death”.

Want to make Jim Jordan sing about the Capitol attack? Ask Jefferson Davis | Sidney Blumenthal

But the position of the Ohio rightwinger and fierce Trump loyalist, who is resisting efforts from a congressional committee to explain his own role in the deadly 6 January Capitol riot that Trump incited, serves only to stoke further the country’s volatile political divisions and promote more violence, the groups say.

The bottom line is the Democrats have a very small chance despite this

Education issues came to the forefront of political debate over the past year and played a role in the victory of Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) last November. Democrats were put on the defensive over a variety of aspects of education, from the teaching of the history of racism to the role of parents in school curriculums to school closings and mask mandates due to the pandemic.

Democrats long have held an advantage on the issue of education, but that eroded in Post-ABC surveys after last November’s elections and in February, with Democrats holding just a three-point advantage in both cases. The new poll finds Democrats with an eight-point advantage (47 percent to 39 percent). While an improvement, the margin is still significantly smaller than the average advantage Democrats had in polls dating back to 1990.

Story continues below advertisement

The biggest Democratic advantages are on the issue of equal treatment of racial and ethnic groups (52 percent to 31 percent over Republicans) and on equal treatment of groups regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity (55 percent to 26 percent).

The latter have become political flash points, with Republican governors and Republican-led legislatures moving to restrict discussion of gender issues to schoolchildren and taking action to bar transgender students from participating in school sports.

With the Supreme Court nearing a decision on Mississippi’s restrictive abortion law, Americans say they trust Democrats more than Republicans to deal with the issue, by 47 percent to 37 percent.

Story continues below advertisement

Democrats regained a slight advantage in party identification after losing ground over the past year. The current poll finds 48 percent identifying as Democrats or leaning Democratic, which is identical to last April but up from a low of 43 percent in February. Meanwhile, 43 percent identify as Republicans or Republican leaners, ticking down slightly from 46 percent in February but still above the 40 percent mark of one year ago.

The Post-ABC poll was conducted April 24-28 among a random national sample of 1,004 adults, reached on cellphones and landlines. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points for overall results and among the sample of 907 registered voters.

Joe Biden’s $33bn request to Congress for more aid for Ukraine is likely to receive swift approval from lawmakers, a senior Republican said on Sunday, as the House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, made a surprise visit to the war-riven country.

The president on Thursday had asked for the money for military and humanitarian support for Ukraine as it fights to repulse the Russian invasion now in its third month.

Michael McCaul, a Texas Republican and ranking member of the House foreign affairs committee, went on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulous and said he expected the chamber would look favorably on the request in the coming weeks.

McCaul’s comments came while Pelosi led a congressional delegation to Kyiv to meet the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy, and the House speaker promised on behalf of the US: “We are here until victory is won.”

McCaul was asked if he believed Congress would quickly pass Biden’s requested package, which includes $20bn in military aid, $8.5bn in economic aid to Kyiv and $3bn in humanitarian relief.

“Yes, I do,” McCaul said. “Time is of the essence. The next two to three weeks are going to be very pivotal and very decisive in this war. And I don’t think we have a lot of time to waste. I wish we had [Biden’s request] a little bit sooner, but we have it now.”

McCaul added that he believed Republicans, who have supported the Democratic president’s previous financial requests for Ukraine, might have acted more expediently if they held the House majority.

MARCH 28, 2022PRESS RELEASES

When the President took office, the pandemic was raging in communities across the country and our economy was struggling to recover from the most severe downturn since the Great Depression. The economy shrunk, and the unemployment rate stood at 6.4 percent. And, the deficit had risen to $3.1 trillion in 2020—yet with trillions in resources, the Trump Administration didn’t secure vaccines for all Americans, most schools were closed, and testing and medical equipment shortages continued.

Even before the pandemic, the Trump tax cuts had added $2 trillion to deficits over a decade. The deficit increased every year of the previous administration.

This kind of Republican can save the country.

Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas said Sunday that he’s weighing a White House bid in 2024 and that he would still consider running even if former President Donald Trump enters the race.

“You’ve got to get through, of course, this year. But that’s an option that’s on the table,” Hutchinson, who is term-limited as governor, told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union” when asked if he was seriously considering 2024 run.

Pressed by Bash on whether he would still consider running if Trump decides to seek the 2024 GOP nomination, Hutchinson said the former President’s candidacy is “not a factor in my decision-making process.”

“I’ve made it clear: I think we ought to have a different direction in the future,” he added. “I think he did a lot of good things for our country, but we need to go a different direction.”

Trump has not announced a 2024 White House bid but has teased a potential run since leaving office last year.

Ad Feedback

DeSantis amplifies 2024 chatter with trip to Nevada to campaign for Senate candidate Laxalt

Hutchinson also took aim at another possible 2024 GOP presidential contender Saturday. He said that he disagrees with Florida’s recent law championed by Gov. Ron DeSantis that effectively punishes Disney for opposing LGBTQ restrictions enacted in the state.

“I don’t believe that government should be punitive against private businesses because we disagree with them,” Hutchinson said. “To me, that’s the old Republican principle of having restrained government.”

The Arkansas governor, however, did say that he felt Disney “handled this very poorly,” adding that he shared DeSantis’ belief that sexual orientation should not be taught “in those lower grades” in school.

Hutchinson told Bash last year that he would not back Trump if he decided to run in 2024 – a departure from his previous support for Trump’s 2020 reelection bid.

At the time, the governor said that although Trump would continue to have a voice in the Republican Party, the former President “should not define our future,” adding that the party needs “to respond and identify with the issues that gave him the first election and gave him support throughout his presidency.”

The House committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol will decide “in the next week or two” whether to issue subpoenas trying to force Republican lawmakers to testify about Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election, one of two Republicans on the panel said on Sunday.

‘A horrible plague, then Covid’: Biden and correspondents joke in post-Trump return to normality.

“If that takes a subpoena, it takes a subpoena,” Adam Kinzinger said.

The Illinois congressman also told CBS’s Face the Nation public hearings planned for June will aim to “lay the whole story out in front of the American people … because ultimately, they have to be the judge” of Trump’s attempt to hold on to power.

Kinzinger and nine other House Republicans voted to impeach Trump over the Capitol attack, which a bipartisan Senate committee linked to seven deaths.

But Senate Republicans stayed loyal, acquitting Trump, and Kinzinger is one of four anti-Trump House Republicans who have since announced their retirements.

He and Liz Cheney of Wyoming are the only Republicans on the January 6 committee.

The June hearings, Kinzinger said, will involve laying out “what led to January 6, the lies after the election, fundraising, the 187 minutes the president basically sat in the Oval Office [as the Capitol was attacked] … the response by [the Department of Defense].

“It’s important for us to be able to put that in front of the American people because ultimately, they have to be the judge. The Department of Justice will make decisions based on information but the American people … have to take the work we’ve done and decide what they want to do with it or what they want to believe.”

Majorities of Republicans in Congress and in public polls believe – or choose to support and repeat – Trump’s lie that Biden stole the presidency via electoral fraud.

Recession
fears have hit a fever pitch. From Wall Street's sell-side research houses to regular American households, worries that the
economy is about to go into a slump are everywhere. According to Google Trends, searches for "recession" are spiking. In the US, the phrase "how to prepare for a recession" has almost tripled in search interest over the past week. These household recession concerns go hand in hand with inflation concerns, as search interest around rising prices is also surging.

But my sense is that the fever around recession and inflation is about to break. When sell-side analysts are competing to see who can make the most dire recession prediction and ordinary people are frantically Googling these topics, we've likely hit peak freak-out. And given the recent, sharp decline in the stock market, you can be sure investors have already priced in these recession concerns. This high level of worry likely means three things are on the horizon for the economy: cooler inflation, a declining risk of recession, and the potential for the stock market to head higher.

What's unusual about the recession discussion is just how divorced it is from recent economic data. The doom-and-gloom chatter has picked up at a time when the US economy continues to expand at a healthy clip, and the recent economic data is beating economists' estimates.

Take the jobs report: Nonfarm payrolls averaged a monthly growth of 552,000 in the first quarter of this year, compared to 627,000 in the fourth quarter of 2021 and 515,000 in the third quarter of 2019 — before the pandemic. That's hardly consistent with a slowdown, let alone a recession. The increase in the number of hours worked by Americans is also consistent with strong economic growth.

And what about manufacturing? The analysts and economists worried about a recession have paid plenty of attention to the decline of the ISM Manufacturing PMI, a gauge of manufacturing purchasing managers' outlook for their business and the economy, which peaked 13 months ago. But measures of actual manufacturing are holding up and show no signs of a slowdown. Manufacturing production has advanced at an annualized rate of 9.1% over the past three months. Averaging the three months ending in March, factory output grew at a 5.4% annual rate in the first quarter, compared to 5.6% growth in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Avalanche of leaks risks Jan. 6 committee delivering on blockbuster hearings

By Peter Nicholas

WASHINGTON — The House committee probing the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol wants its upcoming public hearings to be must-see TV, but an avalanche of leaks could just as easily make them a bust.

So much about the failed coup is already known that many Americans may see no compelling reason to watch.

Text messages published recently by news outlets revealed how then-President Trump’s allies contrived to keep him in power after his defeat in the 2020 election. Recordings of House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy’s private phone calls showed just how alarmed he was by Trump’s actions. A book by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa publicized the dubious legal theories that Trump advisers relied on as they worked to overturn the election results.

As with any good story, a congressional hearing of historic proportions needs its share of surprising twists to captivate viewers. Consider Watergate, when a witness doomed Richard Nixon’s presidency in 1973 by testifying that he had been taping his conversations in the White House.

A distinct challenge for the Jan. 6 committee, in an era when secrets are harder to protect, is that its findings may sound like a rehash. Asked if he worried that the public hearings could fizzle due to the torrent of leaks, the committee chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said: “Absolutely.”

Text messages detail Trump administration’s efforts to overturn 2020 election

“I would hope members of the committee, and staff, understand the charge that we have as a committee and how important it is to our democracy,” he continued. “To leak information in advance of the hearings or a final report is [damaging] to the work product. But I think there is still so much that we have as a committee that the leaks would not mitigate the impact.”

A ritual parlor game in Washington is figuring out the identity of leakers: Who is disclosing material that the Jan. 6 committee collected as part of its investigation? Are the leaks coming from inside the committee or outside? CNN alone has published reams  of text messages that Mark Meadows, a Trump White House chief of staff, turned over to the panel.

“The leaks discredit things,” said Ty Cobb, who represented the Trump White House in the Russia investigation.

Meadows filed suit against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the committee last December to block a subpoena for his testimony. In a court filing on Friday as part of that suit, Meadows’s attorneys contended that the committee is the one leaking his text messages. The filing accuses the committee of waging “a public smear campaign him through selective leaks of his private text messages to the press.”

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Committee members insist they don’t know the leaker’s identity and have refused to confirm the validity of Meadows text messages after they were published.

Thompson said he has “no earthly idea” who is slipping material to news outlets but added he’s none too happy about it. “I would hope members of the committee, and staff, understand the charge that we have as a committee and how important it is to our democracy,” he said. “To leak information in advance of the hearings or a final report is [damaging] to the work product.”

Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., a member of the nine-person committee, also said he didn’t know who was responsible, though he sees a potential upside.

“I have no idea where these leaks are coming from,” Raskin said. “But they’re definitely whetting the public’s appetite for the hearings, because we’re going to tell a far more systematic and coherent story than the random leaks that are getting out, which obviously just contain a small portion of the information that we have.”

I have no idea where these leaks are coming from. But they’re definitely whetting the public’s appetite for the hearings.

REP. JAMIE RASKIN, D-MD. SAID

A committee aide said the leaks are “unauthorized,” meaning that the panel isn’t deliberately handing its work product to select news outlets for its own strategic purposes.

The guessing game has touched off speculation that the leaks may be coming from Trump world — a geyser of unapproved disclosures flowed when he was in power— in a bid to undermine the committee’s efforts. But there has been no evidence to support that conjecture.

2022 ELECTIONThese candidates say Trump won in 2020—now they're running to oversee future elections

From the start, the committee has mulled over how to release its findings in a way that makes the deepest impression on Americans who have plenty of other things on their minds.

“I don’t get questions about this [Jan. 6] at home right now,” Rep. Kelly Armstrong, R.-N.D., said in an interview. Jan. 6 was “a terrible day, and it deserves to be treated in the appropriate context, but there are a lot of other things going on in North Dakota and across the country right now, and whatever you say about this, it’s not new. … That’s the reality that they [committee members] are going to be facing going forward.”

When the committee started work last summer, some staff met privately with veterans of previous investigations to ask for advice. A lawyer for a past Democratic administration suggested that it put out fresh material on a rolling basis to pique the public’s interest and make sure people stay engaged.

The committee took a different path, envisioning blockbuster hearings after the investigation wrapped up. A series of eight separate hearings are now set to begin on June 9. Some will air in prime time, with a written report coming in the fall.

Unless it catches the attention of the people, it won't matter enough

Tucker Carlson Vows Not to Read Articles About Him
May 1, 2022 at 2:44 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 135 Comments

Tucker Carlson, the highest rated host in cable news, told Axios he hasn’t read a word of this weekend’s New York Times series about him — “and of course won’t.”

Russia Recasts Fight in Ukraine as War With the West
May 1, 2022 at 2:42 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 52 Comments

“Moscow is recasting its fight with Ukraine as a broader war between Russia and the West, as Kremlin leaders and state propaganda outlets warn Russians that the conflict with its smaller neighbor could spill over into a global clash,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“The Kremlin and state-controlled media have warned in recent days that the West ultimately seeks to contain—or even destroy—Russia and have threatened retaliation, including the possibility of nuclear strikes.”

Evidence Mounts of GOP Involvement in Trump Scheme
May 1, 2022 at 2:40 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 43 Comments

Associated Press: “The text exchange, in an April 22 court filing from the congressional panel investigating the Jan. 6 riot, is in a batch of startling evidence that shows the deep involvement of some House Republicans in Trump’s desperate attempt to stay in power. A review of the evidence finds new details about how, long before the attack on the Capitol unfolded, several GOP lawmakers were participating directly in Trump’s campaign to reverse the results of a free and fair election.”

“It’s a connection that members of the House Jan. 6 committee are making explicit as they prepare to launch public hearings in June. The Republicans plotting with Trump and the rioters who attacked the Capitol were aligned in their goals, if not the mob’s violent tactics, creating a convergence that nearly upended the nation’s peaceful transfer of power.”

How Tucker Carlson Stoked White Fear to Conquer Cable
April 30, 2022 at 1:17 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 95 Comments

New York Times:
“...Mr. Carlson has constructed what may be the most racist show in the history of cable news — and also, by some measures, the most successful.

Though he frequently declares himself an enemy of prejudice —
‘We don’t judge them by group, and we don’t judge them on their race,’ Mr. Carlson explained to an interviewer
a few weeks before
accusing impoverished immigrants of making America dirty —
his show teaches loathing and fear.

“Night after night,
hour by hour,
Mr. Carlson warns his viewers that they inhabit a civilization under siege
— by violent Black Lives Matter protesters in American cities,
by diseased migrants from south of the border,
by refugees importing alien cultures,
and by tech companies
and cultural elites who will silence them,
or label them racist, if they complain.”

IN THAT WAY, HE PLAYS THE TRUMP GAME OF TRYING TO MAKE US HATE "ENEMIES"
--WHILE HIDING THE FACT THAT OUR REAL ENEMIES ARE THE RICH AMERICAN AUTOCRATS WHO FOR THEIR OWN BENEFIT ARE EVERY DAY ROBBING US OF A BETTER AMERICA FOR ALL OF US.

2028 GOP CANDIDATE 🙄

Tucker Carlson: We Are Watching The End Of Neoliberalism

TUCKER CARLSON: It was a year ago this month that Joe Biden promised to transform this country, change it more than any president had in over 100 years. He was going to create a new economy through what he called "a once in a generation investment in America unlike anything we've seen or done since we built the interstate highway system."

Well, that's big. What would it cost? Well, more than $4 trillion.

How much is that exactly? Well, it's more than twice the gross domestic product of the entire nation of Canada, and, of course, most other countries, too. At the Washington Post, they suggested that Joe Biden's promise marked "the waning of the neoliberal era."

Now they describe neoliberalism as centrist liberalism, friendly to Wall Street, when, of course, it's not exactly that. Neoliberalism is looting with a smokescreen of race and gender politics so you won't notice that it happened. But the Post told us, "Relax. Joe Biden's going to give us something even better, better than we've ever had. Think FDR and the New Deal but with no downside."

So that's what they were telling you a year ago, April 20, 2021. Fast-forward a year, and it's clear the Post got it just about half right. Neoliberalism has indeed waned under Joe Biden. It will not survive the Biden administration, but that's not because Joe Biden has rejected neoliberalism or found an alternative, something that will revolutionize America, like the interstate highway system. No.

It's because Joe Biden embraced neoliberalism and in so doing reminded the rest of us, tens of millions of Americans, that it's horrible, that neoliberalism serves the interests of virtually no one. It's a cover for the distribution of wealth, a distribution that has become more lopsided in our age than at any age ever. It is a shocking discredit to capitalism. It's not actually market capitalism. It's something controlled and grotesque.

So anyone who thinks about this for about 30 seconds gets the point immediately. They don't want you to think about it, and that's why Biden did what they always do: Tried to divide the country along racial lines, make you hate your neighbor so you won't think about where the money is going. He did what Barack Obama did, but much less artfully.

...

Again, it doesn't mean that the country has an epidemic of Black supremacy, but it does mean that the constant harping on race, dividing us by skin color, telling some people that they are hated by the country itself, has consequences. The Democratic Party has embraced a Wall Street approved theme, a talking point about White supremacy. And to this day, neoliberals are trying to salvage that, to convince, you know, it's really true and that's why Merrick Garland has never announced a probe into anything other than White supremacy. It's why General Mark Milley isn't reading books about anything other than White supremacy.

So, the talking point may be fake, but they're continuing to throw it at you.

...

We now have a trans admiral. Well, the good news is people are rejecting this because it serves no one. It does not uplift anybody. It makes the population hate each other.

So, our leaders don't understand that. They don't understand that their ideas have been rejected by the population. Corporate media, which carries the ideas forward into the living rooms of America, doesn't understand it, either. But the reality may wake them up. You're seeing it happen again and again, the rejection of neoliberal ideas. Consider the collapse of CNN +.

According to Axios, "Executives bucketed CNN+'s potential audience into three groups with various models of overlap: 29 million CNN superfans, (they estimated) 24 million subscription video on demand fans, (If people want to pay more for anything) and 36 million global news consumers."

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

So, think about those numbers for a second. CNN convinced itself it had 29 million superfans. That's even less plausible than 81 million votes in a presidential election, and it turned out to be completely disconnected from reality. In the end, CNN+ got about 10,000 viewers. Why? Because people don't really want to pay to watch that c---, to be called bigots, or learn about trans senior citizens, and it has nothing to do with their lives, and they know for a fact it won't improve them.

So, what are they listening to? They're listening to people like Joe Rogan. Why? Not because of his political agenda, but because he's interesting and he's curious and he noticed the world changing all around him and he wants to know what the hell's going on and so does everyone else. And that's why Rogan gained millions of subscribers since CNN tried to have him fired a few months ago.

At the same time, the company that employs Joe Rogan, the streaming service Spotify, had to and you may not have seen this story, offload the Obamas to whom they had paid millions and millions of dollars. Why? Because no one wanted to watch the Obamas either because they had nothing to say because they're banal. They're not interesting in any way. So take three steps back.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...
This comment has been removed by the author.
Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

What are we watching here? We're watching the end of neoliberalism and its core plank, the thing it depends upon to survive, which is corporate control over media and hence your brain.

They need to control what you think or you will reject them, but increasingly, they're not able to because censorship, thank God, is dying and we can credit to some great extent Elon Musk for that, the richest man in the world. He recently bought Twitter. Now, polls made it very clear that Americans support this. Why? Not because they want another billionaire owner of their media property, but because—and the Harvard Harris poll found this—a majority of Americans understand that Twitter was a force for censorship, a force for control over the population.

And it turns out most people, since they live in this country and they're citizens, would like some say in how they're governed. So, they want to get their opinions out loud without being punished for it. Therefore, they're glad that Elon Musk is promising to end the censorship of Twitter. Why are people rejecting this? Well, part of the reason is that while Joe Biden was making a fool of himself going on about trans seniors, Americans are getting poorer and they feel it. There's no hiding it. Many Americans can barely afford to live in their own country.

...

So, it's just awful. People are dying and not just in San Francisco.

Life expectancy, average life expectancy for American-born citizens is down. So, if there's any measure of failure, it's that.

And the truth is, it doesn't matter what Biden says or any of our political leaders say. You can say whatever you want, but people still live here and they still have eyes to see and if their lives are getting worse. They know that you're lying and that the beliefs you are selling are hollow and the core belief is neoliberalism. That's been completely discredited and killed by Joe Biden. If he's achieved anything as president, it's that.

Midterm poll forecasts bleak outlook for Dems, trail GOP with groups they usually win
Latinos have traditionally preferred to vote for Democrats, but recent data has shown the group trend toward the GOP

A new poll shows Republicans with an edge leading up to this year's midterm elections, including among groups more traditionally aligned with the Democratic Party.

Asked which party they are likely to vote for in their district, 52% of Latino voters said they would choose a Republican compared to 39% who said their preference was for a Democrat, according to the results of a new NPR and Marist poll. Democrats also trail among voters under 45-years-old, with 50% saying they would choose a Republican compared to 40% who said they plan to vote for a Democrat.

Republicans are also enjoying a lead among independent voters, with 45% saying they would vote for a Republican compared to 38% who say they would support a Democrat.

But both groups may help power the GOP to victory in 2022, with 47% of voters overall indicating they would choose a Republican candidate compared to 44% who said they would support a Democrat.

Democrats have historically outperformed Republicans in the generic congressional ballot, with this being the first time the GOP has led the poll since they won control of both the House and Senate in 2014. A lead of just a few points could spell trouble for Democrats, who now trail by three points six months before the elections.

President Biden's approval rating also remains underwater, with 41% of voters saying they approve of the president's job performance compared to 51% who disapprove. Of those that disapprove, 37% indicated they strongly disapprove of Biden's performance.

Nolte: CNNLOL’s April Primetime Ratings Dive -43%

CNN, a far-left propaganda outlet that spreads conspiracy theories and political violence, lost 43 percent of its primetime audience in just one month.

MSNBC, an openly left-wing outlet, saw its total day 25-54 age demo crash to an average of just 75,000 viewers

Compared to last month, “CNN shed -43% in total primetime viewers, -54% from the primetime demo, -34% in total day viewers and -43% in total day adults 25-54,” reports AdWeek.

Compared to April of 2021, “CNN shed -33% in total primetime viewers, -39% in the primetime demo, -26% in total day viewers and -36% in total day adults 25-54[.]”

CNN’s April was made even worse by the suicide of CNN+, its streaming channel that died quicker than the Chevy Chase Show, Cop Rock, and Supertrain.

In its never-ending quest to troll the right, CNN spent hundreds of millions of dollars to promote CNN+ as a middle finger to Trump supporters, as a way to say, Ha! We are successful! It was both a hilarious and glorious act of defiance, a grand piece of Failure Theater to warm the hearts of decent people everywhere.

According to one report, CNN+ was attracting only 4,000 viewers at any given time.

I could live-stream my butt and attract 4,000 viewers.

Medical journals now CENSORING all science that documents vaccine adverse reactions
Sunday, May 01, 2022 by: JD Heyes

(Natural News) Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, this publication has provided ample documentation and evidence that the globalist elites are using to fundamentally alter Western democracies in ways they never could legislatively.

One way has been to use the virus as a means of curbing civil liberties and constitutionally protected freedoms to limit individualist activity and force conformity, as evidenced by vaccine mandates, forced business lockdowns and closures, masking requirements, and other measures.

But another way the globalist elite are changing our societies using the virus as their impetus is through the employment of propaganda and censorship, as evidenced by a recent incident involving a researcher who was attempting to document adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccines.

The Epoch Times reports:

Jessica Rose didn’t ask for any of this. She started to analyze data on adverse reactions after COVID-19 vaccines simply as an exercise to master a new piece of software. But she couldn’t ignore what she saw and decided to publish the results of her analysis. The next thing she knew, she was in a “bizzarro world,” she told The Epoch Times.

A paper she co-authored based on her analysis was withdrawn by the academic journal Elsevier under circumstances that raised eyebrows among her colleagues. The journal declined to comment on the matter.

Mind you, Rose isn’t an amateur or a conspiracy theorist; she received a Ph.D. in computational biology from Bar-Ilan University in Israel, and upon completion of her post-doctoral studies on molecular dynamics of certain proteins, she wanted to take on something new.

To that end, she switched to a new statistical computing software in a bid to discover a new and interesting data set she could use to hone her skills, settling on the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) in the U.S., which is a database containing reports of problems that have occurred with certain vaccines that may or may not have been caused by the jab.

She went into the project with a clear mind, not a predetermined outcome, saying, “I don’t go in with questions.”

But what she discovered disturbed her, she said.

The reporting system has been around since 1990 and was actually established to be an early warning apparatus for problematic vaccines. Anyone can submit reports, but they are then checked for duplicates and accuracy. Mostly though, the reports are filed by health professionals; most commonly, there are roughly 40,000 reports per year and several hundred deaths involving vaccines.

However, after COVID vaccines were introduced, reports skyrocketed. By Jan. 7, there were more than 1 million reports including around 21,000 deaths. Other notable conditions and reactions reported include: 11,000 heart attacks; almost 13,000 Bell’s palsy cases; and more than 25,000 instances of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle itself) or pericarditis (inflammation of the pericardial sac around the heart).

Elon Musk is the only businessman to date who has demonstrated the same intuitive grasp of the medium and he has used Twitter with the same Trump-like flair – to keep his mob of 83 million followers energised, amused and outraged; to manipulate a range of markets, including those involving cryptocurrencies; to sell cars (more than 300,000 in the past three months, without having a marketing division); and to troll public authorities.

Now this uber-troll has decided to acquire his favourite platform. Like Victor Kiam, the guy who liked Remington shavers so much that he bought the company, Musk likes free speech so much that he’s gone and bought it! This might have something to do with the fact that one of the public authorities he’s been trolling is the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which previously fined him for claiming (on Twitter) that he had the funds to take Tesla private and required him to have any further business-related tweets vetted by a lawyer (famously dubbed a “Twitter-sitter”) before posting.

Whatever the explanation, Musk now declares himself to be a “free speech absolutist”. He doesn’t, however, seem to have done much thinking about what would actually be involved in running a platform based on absolutist principles. As the FT’s John Thornhill put it: “He grandly declares that maximal free speech reduces civilisational risk. Cue widespread applause. But back in the day, Twitter also described itself as ‘the free speech wing of the free speech party’. Then it collided with porn bots, cyberbullies and terrorist extremists. ‘We have tried that. It did not work, Elon,’ says a former Twitter executive.”

He doesn’t seem to have done much thinking about what would actually be involved in running a platform based on absolutist principles

Musk suffers from the delusion that “Twitter has become the de-facto town square”, which, frankly, is baloney. The internet, as Mike Masnick points out, is the metaphorical “town square”. Twitter is just one small private shop in that space – a shop in which hyperventilating elites, trolls, journalists and millions of bots hang out and fight with one another.

He also seems to have forgotten that Twitter operates outside the first-amendment-obsessed US – in Europe, for example. Last Tuesday, Thierry Breton, the EU’s commissioner for the internal market, warned that Twitter must follow European rules on moderating illegal and harmful content online, even after it goes private. “We welcome everyone,” said Breton. “We are open but on our conditions… ‘Elon, there are rules. You are welcome but these are our rules. It’s not your rules which will apply here.’” Since Musk seems temperamentally allergic to rules imposed by governmental agencies, Twitter under his command should have interesting challenges ahead in Europe.

But the part of the world where he would have most difficulty is China. Up to now, Twitter has had a pretty good record in resisting bullying by Xi Jinping’s regime.

Ever since the Hong Kong democracy movement triggered a massive counterattack by Xi’s trolls on foreign social media, Twitter has removed thousands of Chinese accounts and slapped labels on state media tweets; stopped taking advertising from Chinese government stooges; and declined to cooperate with regime requests. The platform also provides a global platform for Xi’s critics. China’s new national security law explicitly targets seditious speech, including on overseas platforms, but Twitter, to date, has not cooperated.

This admirable commitment to free speech would produce exquisite and perhaps unbearable pain for its new proprietor. Tesla, which, after all, is his main gig, produces half of its cars in China and earns a quarter of its revenues there. As Reuters points out: “China could easily hold Tesla to ransom if a Musk-owned Twitter didn’t play ball.”

It could, which is why one wonders if, in the end, Musk will just walk away from the acquisition. He’s a businessman, after all, and businessmen supposedly believe in the primacy of markets. He embarked on this venture thinking that the rules of free speech are just another asset available for purchase in the “marketplace of ideas”.

With a bit of luck, he will come to the conclusion that the price is much higher than he envisaged. In which case, those of us who believe that those rules should be determined by democratic institutions can breathe again.

Biden official to migrants: “Do not come”

Ivana Saric

Axios

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas told CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday that his message to migrants hoping to come to the U.S. southern border is "do not come."

Why it matters: Mayorkas' remarks come amid plans by the Biden administration to lift the pandemic-era public health policy Title 42 in May, which is expected to result in a surge in migration at the border.

State of play: The Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday outlined its plan to secure the southern border once Title 42 is lifted, consisting of increasing resources that include personnel, transportation, medical support and facilities to support border operations.

A federal court on Monday temporarily blocked the Biden administration from removing the order after several states filed a lawsuit to keep it in place.Axios reported in a scoop last month that Mayorkas had privately expressed concerns to members of Congress about the Biden administration’s handling of its plans to lift Title 42.

What they're saying: Mayorkas said his message to migrants remained "the very same" as it was last year, stating emphatically, "do not come."

"What happens now is individuals are either expelled under the Title 42 authority or they are placed in immigration enforcement proceedings. And they are removed if they do not have a valid claim under our law to remain.""So the border is not open. And importantly, they should not place their lives at risk in the hands of smugglers who exploit their lives for the mere purpose of profit."

The big picture: Mayorkas has made similar remarks in the past. His words also echoed remarks by other administration officials, including Vice President Kamala Harris, who told would-be migrants in Central America last year, "Do not come. Do not come."

This takes away one of the most important aspects in the next elections

Former Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D) suggested that former President Barack Obama is behind the Biden administration’s creation of the Disinformation Governance Board.

“Biden is just a front man. Obama, April 21: social media censors ‘don’t go far enough,’ so the government needs to step in to do the job. Six days later, Homeland Security rolls out the ‘Ministry of Truth’ (aka Disinformation Governance Board),” Gabbard tweeted.

— Tulsi Gabbard 🌺 (@TulsiGabbard) May 1, 2022

Gabbard, a Democrat, cited Obama’s remarks at Stanford University last week calling on social media platforms to ramp up censorship of political speech he doesn’t like, characterizing the infringement of free speech as “content moderation.”

“Now the good news is that almost all the big tech platforms now acknowledge some responsibility for content on their platforms, and they’re investing in large team of people to monitor it,” Obama said during the speech. “Given the sheer volume of content, this strategy can feel like a game of Whac-A-Mole.”

“But while content moderation can limit the distribution of clearly dangerous content, it doesn’t go far enough,” Obama added.

The Department of Homeland Security’s announcement of the Disinformation Governance Board last week drew widespread condemnation from Republicans, who claimed the board would attempt to limit free speech now that Elon Musk took Twitter out of the hands of the establishment.

The blowback prompted DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to do damage control on CNN Sunday.

“Those criticisms are precisely the opposite of what this small working group within the Department of Homeland Security will do,” Mayorkas said. “And I think we probably could have done a better job of communicating what it does and does not do.”

"Will American citizens be monitored?"

"No."

To run Twitter as a free speech platform is not that hard.

You just have to undo what has happened over the past 2-3 years and let it be exactly what it was before the "woke" liberals took it over...

Somehow these people are convinced that they somehow "had" to do these things and that the platform could never go back to the way it was... when in fact it would be very simple. Extremely simple. Too simple in fact.

Zelenskyy makes direct appeal to Russian soldiers:
DO NOT FIGHT

USA TODAY
May 1, 2022, 9:36 AM
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a direct appeal to Russian soldiers, asking them not to fight in Ukraine and claiming their leaders expect thousands of them to die.

In his video address late Saturday, which Zelenskyy delivers nightly in Ukrainian, the president switched into Russian:
“Every Russian soldier can still save his own life. It’s better for you to survive in Russia than to perish on our land."

He said Russia has been recruiting new troops “with little motivation and little combat experience" for units sent into battle early in the Russian invasion, only for those units to be gutted and thrown back into the war again.

“The Russian commanders are lying to their soldiers when they tell them they can expect to be held seriously responsible for refusing to fight and then also don’t tell them, for example, that the Russian army is preparing additional refrigerator trucks for storing the bodies. They don’t tell them about the new losses the generals expect,” Zelenskyy said.

The message comes as Ukrainians in besieged areas such as Mariupol are struggling to hang on; thousands of civilians and soldiers in the Azovstal steel plant there are running out of food and supplies. Yet Western authorities have said the strong Ukrainian defense is slowing Russian troops in their ultimate goal to seize the Donbas region.

Zelenskyy also met with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who praised the courage of the Ukrainian people and vowed continued U.S. support to help Ukraine defeat Russia. Pelosi led a congressional delegation to Kyiv to assess Ukraine’s needs for the next phase of the war.

Pelosi, a California Democrat who is next in line to the presidency after the vice president, is the most senior American lawmaker to visit Ukraine since Russia’s war began more than two months ago. The group met with Zelenskyy for three hours.

"America stands with Ukraine. America will stand with Ukraine until victory is one. And will stand with our NATO allies," she said at a briefing in Rzeszów, Poland.

Time for a Disney do-over? DeSantis lobs solar bomb. Lawsuits target new redistricting map and elections law
Mary Ellen Klas
Mon, May 2, 2022, 3:34 AM
It’s Monday, May 2, and we’re coming off a very partisan week of politics and policy in Florida. Bond rating agencies sent some quivers about Disney; voting advocates doubled down on their lawsuit over redistricting, and solar advocates got a jolt of encouragement.

WHAT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT

Disney do-over? Last week it became clear that Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Legislature are going to need a save-face do-over as it relates to their plan to dissolve the governing structure operated by Walt Disney Co, the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

As Florida legislators were rushing through passage of a bill to punish Disney for its vocal opposition to the “Parental Rights in Education” aka “don’t say gay” bill, they failed to address an obscure provision in state law that says the state could not do what legislators were doing — unless the district’s bond debt was paid off. Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District, however, noticed, as did its lawyers and the bond rating agencies.

The bottom line: the law is in conflict and either the governor and Legislature must change the law, or they will likely lose the law in court. There is no indication that legislators are eager to fix this mess any time soon.

Trump accidentally endorses JD Vance opponent Josh Mandel after bragging about his dementia test scores

May 01, 2022

Just moments after bragging about his high scores on a dementia test and mocking President Joe Biden's stutter, former President Donald Trump accidentally endorsed the wrong Ohio candidate for the U.S. Senate.

Speaking to the crowd to promote Charles Herbster, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by eight women, Trump also named other candidates he hopes to elevate to the U.S. Capitol.

"You know, in Texas, on endorsements, I was 33 and 0, and if I lost one race they'd say, 'Trump was humiliated,'" said Trump. "That's what they're waiting for one race. You know we've endorsed Dr. Oz. We've endorsed JP? JD Mandel."

The person Trump said that he endorsed was JD Vance

Shoot 🔫 them

Former Defense Secretary Mark Esper charges in a memoir out May 10 that former President Trump said when demonstrators were filling the streets around the White House following the death of George Floyd: "Can't you just shoot them? Just shoot them in the legs or something?"

Why it matters: The book, "A Sacred Oath," contains vivid, first-person revelations by a top Cabinet member, bolstering outsiders' accounts of extreme dysfunction in Trump's White House.

Esper, who had earlier been Secretary of the Army, was fired by Trump after the 2020 election.

That moment in the first week of June, 2020, "was surreal, sitting in front of the Resolute desk, inside the Oval Office, with this idea weighing heavily in the air, and the president red faced and complaining loudly about the protests under way in Washington, D.C.," Esper writes.

"The good news — this wasn't a difficult decision," Esper continues. "The bad news — I had to figure out a way to walk Trump back without creating the mess I was trying to avoid."

Behind the curtain: The book was vetted at the highest levels of the Pentagon. I'm told that as part of the clearance process, the book was reviewed in whole or in part by nearly three dozen 4-star generals, senior civilians, and some Cabinet members.

Some of them had witnessed what Esper witnessed.During the book's security review, Esper sued the Pentagon over a classification dispute.

Context: Esper enraged Trump by publicly stating in June 2020 that he opposed invoking the Insurrection Act — an 1807 law that permits the president to use active-duty troops on U.S. soil — in order to quell protests against racial injustice.

Michael Bender — then with The Wall Street Journal, now with the N.Y. Times — reported last year in his book, "Frankly, We Did Win This Election," that Trump repeatedly called for law enforcement to shoot protesters during heated meetings inside the Oval Office.

to create a new security office to investigate claims of voter fraud and increase penalties on those who violate state elections laws.

An Associated Press investigation of the 2020 presidential election found of 25.5 million ballots cast in the six states where Trump and his allies disputed his loss to President Joe Biden there were fewer than 475 potential cases of voter fraud.

That, and the fact that most of the law passed last year has been struck down by a federal judge, hasn’t deterred DeSantis from claiming success. “I don’t think there’s any other place in the country where you should have more confidence that your vote counts than in the state of Florida,” the governor said at the bill signing at a sports bar in Spring Hill.

One of the women who had anonymously accused GOP Nebraska gubernatorial candidate Charles Herbster of groping her has now identified herself publicly: Elizabeth Todsen, a former political aide, was among eight women who originally alleged last month that Herbster groped them. Todsen, who alleges that Herbster groped her at a political event in 2019, is the second accuser to reveal her name publicly.

The other named woman who accused Herbster of groping her is Nebraska state Sen. Julie Slama (R), who told the Nebraska Examiner about the incident last month.Herbster denied Todsen’s allegation and vowed to take “legal action” against her. He filed a lawsuit against Slama last month, and she is countersuing him for sexual battery.Trump, who has endorsed Herbster, defended him at a rally for him last night and claimed without any evidence that the allegations were a political hit job against the candidate. In fact, the ex-president said it was because of the allegations that he went to the rally; to defend the “badly maligned” Herbster.

The truth is that Republicans only oppose “big government” when it restricts their ability to make obscene amounts of money at the expense of working people. Or when government tries to help out the environment, those who’re down on their luck, or the victims of historic discrimination.

Republican advocates of “small government,” in addition to trying to pull the ultimate big government trigger of martial law in January of 2021, now also brag that they want to use the power of the governments they control to:

Narrow your right to vote
Imprison women seeking abortions
Ban books
Block efforts to green our energy sector
Harass gay and trans kids
Prevent minorities from having full representation in Congress
Turn school boards into inquisitors
Let utilities rip off solar customers
Trash public health
Put more guns in the hands of deranged mass shooters
Purge voting rolls of Democrats and minorities
Preempt local communities from protecting their own environment
Reduce the accountability of police for violent behavior
Ban gay marriage
Allow state legislatures to overturn the will of the voters in elections
Keep students in debt
Hand Medicare over to the big insurance companies
Increase hundreds of billions of dollars a year in taxpayer subsidies to the fossil fuel industry
Terrorize refugee children
Eliminate or turn most national parks into drilling and mining sites
End environmental protections
Thwart enforcement of food safety laws
Destroy workers’ rights to union representation

And now we find that a sizable number of congressional Republicans actually wanted Donald Trump to end democracy in America once and for all, replacing our system of checks-and-balances with a strongman oligarchy.

Heil Trump

Over the course of human history, the very first thing every "strongman oligarch" banned was freedom of speech.

Trump did not have a Ministry of Truth.

But we have one NOW.

So once again the alky, for all of his flourishing plagiarisms, is not only full of shit, but he's psychologically PROJECTING again.

Tulsi Gabbard is right - 0linsky is running the show.

Less than a week after 2013's LIAR OF THE YEAR whined about 'disinformation' the Fascist Left has themselves a brand new shiny Ministry of Truth.

What a coincidence.

Sieg Heil Kommandant Biden!!!
