Missing comments...

First of all... this has happened to most everyone, so nobody is censoring anyone (not unless Blogger is removing comments without my knowledge). Roger, Reverend have complained and Rat has had it happen to him as well... (maybe it's an "r" thing?).

So I am curious as to what might be causing it and if there is a common link that might help if this has to be reported? I am hearing that it has happened on both the mobile and regular PC versions of the blog. Is it happening more often on one platform?

Are the comments being deleted simply text? Are they using html? Are they "cut and pastes" from other sites? Do they include links?  Perhaps those of you who see it more often can sort of keep track of what might be a common theme. Might be able to track down an answer.

I only recall one c&p with a link that I posted and that was from the NY Post. That one goes back a few months. The others were all mine.

I've been trying to be polite and cut way back on the c&p, sharing only a title and URL.

Not a fucking multi-comment SPAM that the pederast and the alky are infamous for.

I have had both c & p's and my own comments deleted.

At first this morning it did not happen. Then after a while it started happening a lot. I could get around it by copying and posting the same thing three times quickly. Even then, the posts would disappear -- three would become two -- but I would keep on until two or three remained permanently.

Three or four times I got the message in red "You have exceeded the number of posts allowed for the day. Please try again tomorrow," and then I could post nothing, no matter what browser I used. I was blocked. But later I would be able to post. At least for a while.

Let's keep discussing this, but meanwhile this may be of major importance:

Belarus Prepares Troops as Ukraine Fears Putin Will Declare All-Out War
Isabel van Brugen - 14h ago

Belarus on Wednesday began sudden large-scale drills of its military forces, the country's defense ministry said, as fears grow that Russian President Vladimir Putin will officially declare war on Ukraine as soon as May 9.

The Belarusian Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the drills are to test their combat readiness, and pose no threat to its neighbors or the European community.

"It is planned that the (combat readiness) test will involve the movement of significant numbers of military vehicles, which can slow down traffic on public roads,"
the ministry said.

The drills are to "assess the readiness and ability of personnel to respond promptly to possible crisis situations," the statement said, adding that Belarus would study the ability of their forces to "counter military threats both on land and in the air."

It comes amid mounting concerns that the Russian leader will officially declare war on Ukraine on Victory Day—an annual Russian commemoration of the end of World War II on May 9—per analysis by U.K. defense officials, who said earlier this month that Putin "likely desires to demonstrate significant" military success ahead of the holiday.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has consistently denied that the country plans to join Russia's offensive in Ukraine.

Ukraine has claimed that Russian troops were attacking the country from Belarusian territory. Before Putin began his invasion in February, Russia had stationed troops and military equipment in the country although Belarusian armed forces have not been deployed in the ongoing offensive.

Ukraine's Air Force Command on March 9 accused Russia of wanting to drag Belarus into the war.

"The goal is to involve the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus in the war with Ukraine!" the command said in a statement at the time.

With days to go before Russia's Victory Day, defense officials are weighing in on how Putin may address his invasion of Ukraine.

During an appearance on LBC radio on April 28, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace cited statements from Putin in recent weeks, "about 'This is becoming a war, this is a proxy war which it isn't…Nazis are everywhere basically. They're not just in Ukraine, NATO is full of Nazis.'"

"And I think what he's going to do is he's going to move from his 'special operation'…and he's been laying the ground for being able to say 'Look this is now a war against Nazis' and what I need is more people, I need more Russian cannon fodder basically," Wallace said.

Putin is "probably going to declare on this May Day that we're now at war with the world's Nazis and we need to mass mobilize the Russian people," he added.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

Prior to and throughout the Ukraine invasion, Russia has repeatedly said that one of its key goals is to "de-nazify" the country. Putin has falsely accused the Ukrainian government of committing genocide against Ukraine's Russian-speaking population.

If Putin formally declares war, under Russian law, the leader would be authorized to draft conscripts and mobilize reserve forces.

U.S. State Department spokesperson Ned Price told a press briefing Monday that there is "good reason to believe that the Russians will do everything they can to use" its Victory Day for propaganda purposes.

It "would be a great irony if Moscow used the occasion of 'Victory Day' to declare war, which in itself would allow them to surge conscripts in a way they're not able to do now, in a way that would be tantamount to revealing to the world that their war effort is failing, that they are floundering in their military campaign and military objectives," Price added.

Newsweek has contacted Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for comment.

Update 05/04/22, 4:05 a.m. EDT: This article was updated with additional information, including comment from British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace and U.S. State Department spokesperson Ned Price.

Donald Trump Jr., the son of former President Donald Trump, met on Tuesday with the House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection, according to two sources familiar with the meeting.

Trump Jr. was a high-profile surrogate for the Trump campaign and was among the most prominent supporters of his father to push a false narrative about the election results in the period between the 2020 election and January 6, 2021. Trump Jr. was with the former President backstage outside the White House before his speech at the “Stop the Steal” rally at the Ellipse.

A person familiar with the interview said it was conducted remotely, lasted a little more than three hours and was cordial. Trump Jr. answered all the questions and did not assert the Fifth Amendment during the interview, the person said.

CNN exclusively reported that on November 5, 2020, two days after the election and before the race was called, Trump Jr. texted then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows a lengthy message with a long list of steps the Trump campaign could take to prevent Joe Biden from being certified as the next President of the United States.

Trump Jr. joins a growing list of close associates and family members of the former President to cooperate with the committee. His sister Ivanka, her husband and top Trump adviser Jared Kushner and Trump Jr.’s fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle have all sat for interviews with the committee.

A spokesperson for the committee declined to comment.

Alan Futerfas, an attorney for Trump Jr, declined to comment.

I infrequently have comments fail to post.

I generally post from a desktop (Windows 11 edge) but occasionally an android and it has happened on both.

Have never gotten an error message of any kind except occasionally a missing open/close html when using bold or italics but never the 100 post limits or whatever

Did another search on issues and ran into this:

Readers are having trouble leaving a comment under my blogger posts.
When a user logs in Google or even when they try to comment anonymously, the page refreshes and then the comment disappears. This has happened to several users from all over. For some reason they can not leave a comment under my blog posts.

To me it appears to have to do with google, was real weird how we ended up with all bold and all italics like 3 days in a row ??? I know you said it was a html thing but hasn't happened since. Anyways for me is just an occasional headache, maybe once a month???

Computer repairman John Paul Mac Isaac caused a firestorm when he exposed Hunter Biden’s laptop before the 2020 election. The left and MSM went after him, dragged his name through the mud, and did everything they could to discredit him.

Twitter and Facebook censored the story from The New York Post. Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff and 51 others accused Isaac of peddling Russian disinformation.

Schiff said on CNN after the story hit: “Well, we know that this whole smear on Joe Biden comes from the Kremlin. That’s been clear for well over a year now that they’ve been pushing this false narrative about the vice president and his son.”

Isaac lost his business and endured 18 months of harassment. People threw food at his Delaware shop. He had to leave and moved to Colorado.

Joe Biden is in office so now everyone is like, “Oh, yeah. Everything is authentic concerning Hunter’s laptop.”

Isaac is not letting them off easy. He filed a defamation suit against CNN, The Daily Beast, Politico, and Schiff.

From The New York Post:

“After fighting to reveal the truth, all I want now is for the rest of the country to know that there was a collective and orchestrated effort by social and mainstream media to block a real story with real consequences for the nation,” the 45-year-old Mac Isaac told The Post.

“This was collusion led by 51 former pillars in the intelligence community and backed by words and actions of a politically motivated DOJ and FBI,” he continued. “I want this lawsuit to reveal that collusion and more importantly, who gave the marching orders.”

“Twitter initially labeled my action hacking, so for the first day after my information was leaked, I was bombarded with hate mail and death threats revolving around the idea that I was a hacker, a thief and a criminal,” Mac Isaac said.

Schiff, who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, “has some explaining” to do, Mac Isaac insisted.

“Without any intel, the head of the intel committee decided to share with CNN and its viewers a complete and utter lie,” Mac Isaac said. “A lie issued in the protection of a preferred presidential candidate.”

Isaac accused CNN, Politico, and The Daily Beast of hawking disinformation about the laptop:

“CNN’s broadcast of the false statement accuses the Plaintiff of committing an
infamous crime, i.e., treason by working with the Russians to commit a crime against the United States of America by attempting to undermine American democracy and the 2020 Presidential election,” the suit states.

The Daily Beast claimed the laptop was “purloined” — which Mac Isaac says alleges that he stole the computer — in an article headlined “FBI Examining Hunter’s Laptop as Foreign Op, Contradicting Trump’s Intel Czar,” the suit states.

And in an infamous story on Politico, the website reported dozens of former intel officials believed the laptop to be “Russian disinfo.”

“The article was written by journalist Natasha Bertrand, who seemingly has a history of transforming speculation into fact in the stories upon which she reports,” the suit states.

Isacc wants “at least $1 million in compensatory damages [and] punitive damages which will be the much bigger number and will be determined at trial.”

The Department of Homeland Security is creating a "Disinformation Governance Board" in order to combat the spread of misleading information coming from Russia and human smugglers. Here's everything you need to know:

'ORWELLIAN'

The Biden administration's plan to create a Disinformation Governance Board is a "shockingly unconstitutional assault on freedom of speech," says Mike Huckabee at The Stream. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas last week announced his department would be establishing this "Orwellian 'Ministry of Truth,'" which seems torn from the pages of 1984, ostensibly to "police 'disinformation' and 'misinformation' before the 2022 elections." As if the concept alone wasn't scary enough, Mayorkas said the board would be headed by so-called "disinformation expert" Nina Jankowicz, who last year "promoted the lie that the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian disinformation," Huckabee writes

"The concern isn't that the board will spy on Americans," says The Wall Street Journal in an editorial. It's that this board could "choose to play the role of national fact-checker, a kind of government PolitiFact" that sits on "Mt. Washington" and tells "the masses what is true and what is false." Sorry, but "refereeing political debate isn't the government's job."

A 'LIGHTNING ROD' FOR CULTURE WARRIORS

Of course the right is alarmed at the idea of assigning someone the task of fighting back against disinformation, says Alex Shephard at The New Republic. Its whole political movement is "built on a firehose of lies and falsehoods." The right-wing tantrum over the Homeland Security plan is a case in point. Republicans depict it "as a kind of cancel culture tribunal, where ordinary citizens will have to answer for their thought crimes before a panel of humorless woke drones." Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) tweeted that the Biden administration was making "policing Americans' speech its top priority." Please. This board is unlikely to "do anything other than produce documents and media aimed at quickly countering disinformation," Shephard adds. The real danger in creating a Disinformation Governance Board is that it will become "a lightning rod for conservative culture warriors" trying to show the federal government is too "woke." And the next time Republicans win the White House, they will be able to transform the panel into a "QAnon Two Minutes Hate Machine."

SOMEBODY'S GOT TO DO IT — BUT WHO?

Somebody has to fight the disinformation being fed to voters, migrants, and others, says Jack Shafer at Politico. Details on Mayorkas' plans are hard to come by, but "the press did pry out of DHS the board's goal to contest disinformation crafted by Russia as well as the general disinformation (authors unstated) that had deceived immigrants from Haiti and other places that the U.S. southern border was open."

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Last week, Russia passed a law making it a major crime to publish what it deems “fake” news about the country’s military. Violators could face 15 years in prison.

And what is “fake” news, exactly? That’s up to Russian authorities. Reportedly, it will include any references to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine that call it an invasion, which would contradict the Kremlin’s insistence that it’s simply a “special military operation.” The Kremlin has also applied the term “fake news” to reports that a Russian airstrike hit a maternity hospital in Ukraine.

In other words, fake news means real news.

The law is part of a sweeping crackdown on freedom of expression in the country as President Vladimir Putin tries to cover up the indefensible: an unprovoked invasion of a peaceful neighboring country.

Russia’s Orwellian use of the word “фейки” — a phonetic translation of the English word “fake” — to criminalize truth is the logical endpoint of a years-long heel turn for the term “fake news.” The concept was first popularized in the United States by well-meaning misinformation researchers to describe hoax websites that posed as news outlets to intentionally spread fabricated information. But it wasn’t long before it was turned against the media itself, most notably by the new president Trump

Smart tactics 👏

US officials have reportedly confirmed they are providing intelligence that has helped Ukrainian forces target and kill many of the Russian generals who have died in the Ukraine war.

The claim in the New York Times, quoting unnamed defence officials, appears to confirm suspicions the US is supplying actionable intelligence in real time to help the Ukrainian military select high-value targets.

Appearing to confirm the claims, the Pentagon spokesperson, John Kirby, acknowledged the US was providing “Ukraine with information and intelligence that they can use to defend themselves”, although Adrienne Watson, a national security council spokesperson, said intelligence was not provided “with the intent to kill Russian generals”.

The acknowledgment of US intelligence assistance in targeting Russian forces, which comes on top of another $20bn (£16bn) in promised weapons to Ukraine from Washington, is a further escalation in what is increasingly becoming a proxy war between the US, with its western allies, and Russian forces in Ukraine.

The Kremlin said on Thursday it was well aware that the United States, Britain and other Nato countries were constantly feeding intelligence to the Ukrainian military and that this would not stop Russia from achieving its objectives.

While Moscow has already said it was targeting western arms shipments arriving in Ukraine, it also threatened “lightning fast” retaliation after the UK defence minister James Heappey defended Ukraine striking targets inside Russia.

“betrayal”. But for the majority of Americans who support the right to abortion access, the true betrayal was committed by the five justices who have initially voted to overturn the landmark case.

That is especially true of the three conservative supreme court justices who were nominated by Donald Trump: Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. During their Senate confirmation hearings, each of those three justices was asked about Roe and Planned Parenthood v Casey, the 1992 case that upheld the right to abortion access and could now be overturned as well.

US supreme court justices on abortion – what they’ve said and how they’ve voted

The comments that the three justices made during those hearings are now coming under renewed scrutiny, as they face accusations of having misled politicians and the public about their willingness to overturn Roe.

Republican Senator Susan Collins, who supported Gorsuch and Kavanaugh and repeatedly reassured the public that they would not vote to overturn Roe, has expressed alarm over the draft opinion and a sense that the justices told her something they later reversed.

“If this leaked draft opinion is the final decision and this reporting is accurate, it would be completely inconsistent with what Justice Gorsuch and Justice Kavanaugh said in their hearings and in our meetings in my office,” Collins said, while noting that the draft opinion is not final.

Republican Senator Lisa Murkowksi, who also supports abortion rights and voted in favor of Gorsuch’s and Barrett’s nominations, said the draft opinion “rocks my confidence in the court right now”.

‘It’s precedent’: how supreme court justices spoke about Roe v Wade in the past – video

Murkowski told reporters on Tuesday: “If the decision is going the way that the draft that has been revealed is actually the case, it was not the direction that I believed that the court would take based on statements that have been made about Roe being settled and being precedent.”

During his 2017 confirmation hearings, Gorsuch said: “Casey is settled law in the sense that it is a decision of the US supreme court.” When Kavanaugh appeared before the Senate judiciary committee in 2018, he similarly described Roe as “important precedent of the supreme court that has been reaffirmed many times”, and he defined Casey as “precedent on precedent” because it upheld Roe.

When people are nominated to the supreme court and they testify in Senate confirmation hearings, they are very careful about their language

Professor Katherine Franke

But legal excerpts say Gorsuch and Kavanaugh’s comments about Roe and Casey did not clearly indicate how they might vote in a case like Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization, raising the prospect that some people may have read into their statements only what they wished to hear.

“When people are nominated to the supreme court and they testify in Senate confirmation hearings, they are very careful about their language,” said Professor Katherine Franke of Columbia Law School. “Something like ‘settled law’ actually has no concrete legal meaning. What it means is that that’s a decision from the supreme court, and I acknowledge that it exists. But it doesn’t carry any kind of significance beyond that.”

Arizona Republicans have been independent for decades. The late Senator McCain was a great American hero 👏.

On Thursday, The New York Times reported that Republican strategists in Arizona are increasingly frustrated that their candidates are hitching themselves to former President Donald Trump's election conspiracy theories — and worried that it could blow up in their faces.

"Republicans in many states have grown increasingly tired of the Stop the Steal movement and the push by Mr. Trump to reward election deniers and punish those who accept President Biden’s victory. At a time when Mr. Biden’s approval ratings are sinking, leaders in the party are urging candidates to focus instead on the economy, inflation and other kitchen-table issues," reported Jennifer Medina. "But 12 weeks before its Republican primary in August, Arizona shows just how firm of a grasp Mr. Trump and his election conspiracy theories still have at every level of the party, from local activists to top statewide candidates."

To illustrate this point, the Times quotes Kathy Petsas, a Republican who has served as a precinct captain.

"Anybody who is still re-litigating 2020 will lose the general election," she said bluntly. "I think people at home have caught on, and I don’t think a lot of our candidates have caught on."

Arizona, a longtime red state that in the span of two years saw Democrats win both Senate seats and its electoral votes, has been an epicenter for the "Big Lie" that the 2020 election was stolen, egged on by a widely watched partisan "audit" by a company appointed by the GOP-controlled state Senate that did not follow proper recount procedures and has resulted in court litigation after the auditors concealed public records.

All recounts have confirmed that President Joe Biden legitimately won the election.

Top proponents of election conspiracy theories among Arizona candidates include gubernatorial hopeful Kari Lake, who has called for the Arizona secretary of state to be arrested and campaigned with a Nazi sympathizer, and secretary of state hopeful Mark Finchem, who took part in the January 6 "Stop the Steal" rally and, ironically, does not live where he is registered to vote.

"Because independent and third-party voters make up roughly 34 percent of the electorate, it is impossible to win the state with Republicans alone. Ms. Lake and other candidates like her may have already hit a ceiling even among primary voters, as polls show many voters remain undecided, and there is evidence of growing support for other candidates," said the report. "'I am concerned that if these people get elected it will make another decade of craziness,' said Bob Worsley, a former state senator who describes himself as a moderate Republican. 'I don’t know who has the stature to say, ‘Let’s bring this party back, bring the establishment base back into power.’ Now we’re a purple state and we don’t have a John McCain to try to crack the whip.'"

The bottom line is that the economy is rock solid.

“More Americans applied for unemployment benefits last week but the total number of people collecting jobless aid is at its lowest level in more than 50 years,” the AP reports.

WASHINGTON (AP) — More Americans applied for unemployment benefits last week but the total number of people collecting jobless aid is at its lowest level in more than 50 years.

Jobless claims in the U.S. rose by 19,000 to 200,000 for the week ending April 30, the Labor Department reported Thursday. First-time applications generally reflect the number of layoffs.

The four-week average for claims, which softens some of the weekly volatility, rose 8,000 from the previous week to 188,000.

The total number of Americans collecting jobless benefits for the week ending April 23 fell by 19,000 from the previous week, to 1,384,000. That’s the fewest since January 17, 1970.

American workers are experiencing historically strong job security two years after the coronavirus pandemic plunged the economy into a brief but devastating recession. Weekly applications for unemployment aid have been consistently below the pre-pandemic level of 225,000 for most of this year, even as the overall economy contracted.

Even Europe is taking a huge risk to help Ukraine 🇺🇦.

May 5 (Reuters) - The French environment and energy minister, Barbara Pompili, on Thursday said she was confident European Union member states will reach a consensus on how to end Russian oil imports by the end of this week.

"Some countries are more dependent on Russian oil than others, and so we must try to find solutions so that they can come on board these sanction," she told France Info radio. "But I think we should be able to do it."

France has this week hosted an emergency meeting of EU energy ministers to discuss how to deal with Moscow's decision to halt gas supplies to Bulgaria and Poland for not paying in roubles.

The EU has proposed a phased embargo of Russian oil but Europe's complex distribution network and challenges in tracking crude may make it tricky to implement.

If implemented, the plan would take effect in six months for crude, and in eight months for diesel and other oil products.

It would follow U.S. and British oil bans (like we united to defeat Hitler)and be a watershed for the world's largest trading bloc, which remains dependent on Russian energy amid rising civilian casualties in Ukraine.

Smart tactics 👏

US officials have reportedly confirmed they are providing intelligence that has helped Ukrainian forces target and kill many of the Russian generals who have died in the Ukraine war.

Fucking STUPID tactics.

We don't know what Putin's WWWIII trigger is, the only way to find out is the hard way, and we have an imbecile in charge.

Though Alito assures readers that overturning Roe will not threaten other basic rights (just as Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch assured Americans they considered Roe to be settled law), there is no reason to believe that is the case. The legal justifications underpinning the right to an abortion are foundational to other key decisions as well: Griswold v. Connecticut, which ruled states could not outlaw contraception; Loving v. Virginia, which ruled states could not outlaw interracial marriage; Lawrence v. Texas, which ruled that states could not outlaw sodomy; and Obergefell v. Hodges, which ruled states could not outlaw same-sex marriage. If you’re comforting yourself with the fantasy they wouldn’t go that far, think again: Republicans are already eyeing Obergefell.

Those future consequences matter. But the draft opinion in Dobbs is important even without the ripple effects. Because this is ultimately a decision that will affect millions of women and their control over their bodies, their lives, their futures. And, to be clear, this decision will have a body count. Nor will the tradeoff be a dramatic decline in abortion. Abortions occur whether the procedure is legal or not.

Of course, if the lack of exception to recent abortion bans for the life of the mother is any indication, not even more dead mothers will likely change right-wing radicalism on abortion. A party that calls itself pro-life has already (in tandem with the gun lobby) rejected popular and necessary actions that would curb gun deaths and Covid-19 deaths. Dead mothers, dead 6-year-olds, dead grandparents: None of these sympathetic victims has moderated the American right.

.If Biden opts against seeking reelection, the field may not clear out for Vice President Kamala Harris, who has yet to find her political footing in the role. Two 2020 candidates, Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Cory Booker (D-N.J.), each have held recent high-profile events on hot button election topics.

I strongly favor Cory Booker (D-N.J.),

A highly qualified African American Man they can't say that he was born in Kenya.
