Mulitple reports and social media posts are warning that abortion activists will disrupt Mass on Sunday — Mother’s Day. Should Catholics take these threats seriously? Some Catholic churches and dioceses certainly are. And some Catholic and secular organizations are passionately responding.
The protests are in response to a leaked draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The draft signaled that Supreme Court justices are poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion nationwide in 1973. Although some locations of the protests seem to be confirmed by parishes and dioceses, it's still unclear how many protests across the country are being planned.
The left has most certainly gone over the top with their anti-religion stances and specifically their anti-catholic stances. Catholics used to be a mainstay of the Democratic Party. Not sure that is the case anymore.
For those counting, 5 of the members of the USSC are catholic and they are all expected to rule to overturn Roe v Wade. Obviously that is causing all sorts of angst with liberals and they are apparently looking to take it out on rank and file Catholics.
Anger is anger is anger and it is rarely a good thing politically to express that anger to this sort of degree. We hate you because you have different opinions than we do is not a good argument for attacking people.
Fifty years ago the Democratic Party was about the little guy, about blue collar workers, and about actually being inclusive. Not just to the far extremes of supporting the Transgender binary person who identifies as a vampire, but to actual groups of people who were not entirely in line with the Democratic principles. The Party didn't hate like the Party does today.
Since there is almost nothing in common between the Party I knew when I was growing up and the one that exists today (unlike the GOP who would still nominate Ronald Reagan in a landslide) - it seems strange that someone could still be a "lifelong" Democrat. If you stood for what Democrats stood for in 1980, this Party stands for everything but that today.

I sincerely hope that Catholic parishes across the US will have large men brandishing baseball bats stationed at the doors of the church to greet the crazed abortion zealots should they arrive.
The Catholic church has never rescinded its opposition to using "artificial" forms of birth control (although most Catholic women insist on the use of condoms or using the pill or diaphragms with spermicididal jelly).
How can we respect their position on abortion?
I think Joe will take a knee, then call for the protesters to stay away from churches and instead go to the justices' homes.
The Lincoln Project will supply the torches
Antifa the fire and arms
and BLM and Kamala the fundraising for anyone arrested afterwards
and the media the narrative
big tech will censor anyone not towing that

did you know he was a real pastor ?
just doesn't act like one
The Republican Party of today would not nominate Ronald Reagan because his views would make him a RINO.
He allowed hundreds of thousands Mexican immigrants.
He worked with both sides every week. I voted for him in 79.
Jimmy Carter was not qualified in my mind.
He would be appalled by the Republican party of this generation.

Contraception prevents fertilization.
Abortion kills.
There's the difference.
And the Catholic Church has never stressed their opposition to contraception either. Compromise is made to accept that people are in fact, human.
You can pick these nits all fucking day pederast, it doesn't mean they're legitimate.
Anger and anger and anger is all you have anymore.
You really exhibit symptoms of IED..
I put up with a victim every day and I have watched you fade away from your past behavior .
Unfortunately there is no effective solution 😕
Fuck you alky.
You are the last person to lecture anyone on anything from your lair in a fucking mental hospital. One that you are not allowed to leave. One where your food is cut up by nurses who forbid you from possessing silverware.
You post here for hours on end in the middle of the fucking night ALONE.
So knock it off with your armchair psychiatrist bullshit, you hack.
LOL.
As for domestic policy, Reagan was staunchly opposed to Lyndon Johnson's Great Society social programs (especially the advent of Medicare) when he entered California politics. In the White House, he oversaw sharp cuts in income tax rates. But the welfare state's rate of expansion merely slowed over the course of the 1980s (in part because of declining inflation). It was not turned back.
Reagan's "conservatism" thus amounted to taking the foot off the gas of government growth, not slamming on the brakes — let alone throwing it into reverse. The administration also proudly championed immigration and free trade. It did so both as a spur to economic growth and as an expression of its commitment to openness and moral universalism. Reagan genuinely believed all human beings long for liberty — and that, once freed from the yoke of tyranny, they would choose to embrace democratic self-government and modestly regulated free-market capitalism as the best of all possible political and economic arrangements.
MORE PERSPECTIVES
That made Reagan a liberal. Not a progressive, of course, and also not someone who explicitly embraced the significant changes to American life wrought by the counterculture of the 60s. Instead, Reagan championed bourgeois norms and restraints. (In his personal life, as the first divorced and remarried president in American history, the story was more complicated.) It's also true that he welcomed into his electoral coalition the nascent religious right and even more extreme reactionary dissenters from mainstream politics and culture. But these groups were very much junior partners in that coalition. What dominated was an idealistic liberalism of the center-right.
He was a center right person.
A RINO today
How can we respect their position on abortion?
I guess the same way you expect us to respect your pick and choose and put politics ahead of the scripture manner of being a "Christian" or whatever it is that you call yourself.
as they always say.... those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Funny Roger..
I don't know of a single Republican who wouldn't support someone exactly like Ronald Reagan and I would doubt you know of any either...
Seems more like just a bunch of silly liberals pretending that they understand how Republicans would vote... when obviously they have no clue.
Catholics should not need to fear the Democrat mobs.
Where is AG Garland?
Do your job . Stop the Mob leftist.

Should Catholics worry about abortion protests disrupting Mother’s Day Mass?
They must be protected and be allowed to freely worship.

The International Committee of the Red Cross said it is hopeful that more civilians will be able to be evacuated from the besieged Azovstal steel plant in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol. Ukraine said 50 civilians were evacuated on Friday, but accused Russia of violating a ceasefire intended to allow dozens more still trapped at the plant to leave. The conflict in Ukraine is taking a “heavy toll” on some of Russia’s most capable units, the UK’s ministry of defence said in its latest intelligence report. The latest tranche of assistance includes 25,000 155mm artillery rounds, as well as counter-artillery radars, jamming equipment, field equipment and spare parts. He is completely disabled.
I have to put up with it because of mistakes I have made for years. But I'm not locked up or anything like that.

Christian Nationalists thrilled by impending destruction of abortion rights: report
Tom Boggioni
May 07, 2022
According to a report from Vice, Christian Nationalists and far-right extremists are celebrating the impending overturn of Roe v Wade by the Supreme Court and rushed to social media to taunt women and call them ugly names in their glee.
According to a leaked first draft ruling on a case opening the door to gutting the 1973 Roe decision, Justice Sam Alito's early draft -- which is subject to change -- calls for the complete overturn of a woman's guaranteed right to choose without undue restrictions.
To judge by the reaction of right-wing extremists, this has given them something to cheer about since their failed attempt at overturning the 2020 presidential election at Donald Trump's behest.
As Vice reports, the taunting was quick to begin with one far-right Christain writing on Telegram, "We are taking back territory and we WILL lift the curse summoned by human sacrifice off of our nation by ENDING abortion," adding, "CHRIST IS KING!”
Christ. they’re going after Mickey Mouse,” said president Joe Biden in April, bemoaning the Republican party’s targeting of yet another American institution. A few days earlier, at a desk surrounded by small children, Florida governor Ron DeSantis had stripped Disney World of its self-governing status. Since its inception in 1967, Disney’s central Florida estate – officially the Reedy Creek Improvement District – has effectively operated under its own jurisdiction. The agreement has worked for both sides. Disney funds and manages public services in the district in return for autonomy over governance and development. Disney World has become the cornerstone of Florida’s tourist economy, employing 75,000 people locally. This is supposed to be Disney World’s 50th year, but the company finds itself in danger of being cast out of its own magic kingdom.
DeSantis’s move was explicitly in retaliation to Disney’s opposition to HB 1557, better known as the “Don’t say gay” law. This vaguely worded bill prohibits discussion of, or instruction on, issues of sexual orientation or gender identity in Florida schools. After the successful weaponisation of “critical race theory” (an academic field that considers systemic discrimination in public life), Republicans have identified LGBTQ+ rights as another potential wedge issue, even linking them with paedophilia and grooming. DeSantis’s press secretary, Christina Pushaw, tweeted that the bill could be “more accurately described as an anti-grooming bill”. Disney responded with a statement calling for HB 1557 to be struck down in the courts.

That Lydia lived in fear of every single day.
And the Alky still can’t explain why Sea World, Bush Gardens, Universal Studios or even gator land can survive in FL without the protections the mouse has.
Fuck you Alky this is way above your menial ability to think.
This is reacting to Disney going woke same as ESPN. Disney stock was $187 one year ago, on April 22nd when DeSantis signed the law it was down to $118. This is on Disney board members not DeSantis.
Bit you aren’t smart enough to see all sides.

Washington Post:
“For the activists who have fought against enormous odds to elevate the issues of abortion and judicial selection,
the sudden turnabout is nearly as shocking as Trump’s election was for McConnell.
"Interviews with more than two dozen movement leaders, Republican officials and operatives
describe a half-century journey that only began to settle over the last decade, as the politics of abortion finally polarized itself as a partisan issue
and emerged as a top-tier Republican priority.
“Abortion rights advocates have also been stunned by the transformation,
accusing Republicans of hijacking the courts for partisan and unpopular ends.”
