False claim on 'critical race theory'
Yet growing numbers of Americans – including many Republican state and local officials – want to deny public school students a true picture of past and present racism, falsely labeling this "critical race theory" and incorrectly claiming this will teach white young people to hate themselves and teach all students to hate America. Many of these same officials want to restrict discussion of other types of prejudice and sexuality in schools.
The cold-hearted truth bothers you
Roger, stay on topic.
On the next thread.
You already shit on this one.
Bidenomics is killing his poll numbers.
Turns out the Hispanics and African Americans like more money in their pockets.
Instead of posting political information this matters more
Biden and other campaigners for greater gun control face the numbing reality that in the US there are more firearms in circulation than there are people. The pandemic has seen a dramatic uptick in gun sales, and with it a surge in gun deaths.
In the last decade there have been at least 3,500 mass shootings, defined as incidents killing or injuring four or more people, according to the Gun Violence Archive. The rate of deaths of children under 14 has also risen sharply since the pandemic.
As a nation, we have to ask, ‘When in God’s name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby?’
Joe Biden
There were heartbreaking scenes outside the Uvalde school. Hours after the attack, distraught families were still awaiting word on whether their children had survived, the silence broken repeatedly by screams and wailing.
“My heart is broken today,” said Hal Harrell, the school district superintendent. “We’re a small community, and we’re going to need your prayers to get through this.”
The school was preparing for its final day on Thursday. Themed days had been organised, with children asked to come on Tuesday dressed as “Footloose and Fancy”.
Adolfo Cruz, 69, said he drove to the school after receiving a terrifying call from his daughter. He was waiting for news of his 10-year-old great-granddaughter, Eliajha Cruz Torres, and it was the heaviest moment of his life, he said.
In strong international reactions to the shooting, Pope Francis said he was “heartbroken”, adding: “It is time to say ‘enough’ to the indiscriminate trafficking of weapons.” Emmanuel Macron said the French people shared Americans’ shock and grief at the “cowardly” shooting.
Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, said he was “deeply saddened by the news of the murder of innocent children”.
Biden's approval or disapproval will look very different when it becomes clear who/what the Republicans will be running against him.
Hey Roger....
Just because YOU are a racist who beat up black women....
Doesn't mean that every white person is like you!
Does it make you feel better if teachers teach their students that your personal racism is the norm for White people? Is that why you are so supportive of "critical race theory"?
Or, if he should choose not to run, same thing.
I support "critical racISM" theory.
The teaching that racISM has harmed our nation and is still harming it.
I support 'critical racISM' theory.

Durable goods orders April. 0.4%
Dropped like Buden poll numbers
Durable goods orders April 0.4%
Expected 0.7%
Last report 0.6%
But three things matter
Roe v Wade women's rights are under attack.
The January 6th committee hearings will be on prime time.
And again the attack yesterday will trigger more gun control legislation discussion than in decades.
And one other thing is that unless we recognize the biggest threat in history is that the current Republican Party is a fascist party.
If the people don't wake up to the dangers they will destroy the Constitution.
I support 'critical racISM theory.'
The teaching that racISM has harmed and is still harming our country.

Everyone already expects that the GOP will put up Trump or DeSantis in 2024 and both are favored to beat any comer. So the country is not put off by the GOP. They are put off by Democrats and Biden specifically.

When I was a kid in South Dakota I read books on this topic because I read several books a month. My mom was a reader too and she took me to the library when I was just about 9. I knew the alphabet when I was in kindergarten.
A typical nerd. I remember reading science fiction and then history books and even on medical science.
The librarian kept books for me.

Bruh I'm looking at the history of school shootings. Mind-blowing, kids brought guns to school until the 70s.
Only 3 school mass shootings between 1903-1966.
What happened?
(Didnt take off until the 90s)
I was looking at an old school yearbook (I think 1950) with my sister a while back.
There was actually a gun club on campus.
And they posed in a classroom with their guns

Uh huh.
Show me the lawyer who would take YOUR case and I'll show you an imbecile.
Alky, you cannot even articulate a coherent though around here. I can only imagine the hilarity that would ensue should you try and describe your "case" to some attorney. Especially when he/she/it discovers their "client" is locked down in a psychiatric hospital.
Oh, and shooting a deer at age 14 is no biggie. I had half a dozen in the freezer between the ages of 12 and 14.
My mother Marjorie told me when I was a kid " don't judge a person by the color of their skin but judge them from their words and actions.:
Your mother was pushing colorblind meritocracy...
Judging people by actions and deeds rather than what they look like.
How out of touch!!!!
It's a racist viewpoint put forward by Martin Luther King Jr and still pushed by the likes of Tucker Carlson. In fact Carlson has made plenty of references to the idea of colorblind meritocracy.
Your mother must have been a racist, like Carlson?
That viewpoint runs completely country to CRT and 2022 race arguments made by the newaged liberals.
You need to keep up!
My mother Marjorie told me when I was a kid " don't judge a person by the color of their skin but judge them from their words and actions.:
And Dr. MLK Jr. said basically the same thing. Both Marjorie AND Dr. King would be shunned and laughed out of society today because everyone and everything is fucking RAY-CISS because SHUT UP and PAY ME.

It's a fucking con, you moron.
Scott. I think that MAGA means this.
The Republican Party and the larger neofascist movement are in revolutionary mode, aiming to push American society back before the civil rights era, and perhaps into the 19th century.
One of the Republican Senators from Florida wants to bring to a vote every five years.
Social Security.
Medicare
Medicare and off course Obamacare.
The current Supreme Court has gutted civil rights laws
It is much more important than current rates of approval.

Nope... Understand it completely!
Your mother agrees with me, with Rat, with Tucker Carlson, and with how every conservative feels we should view race.
Your mother disagrees with CRT and the how liberals today want to define racism as systemic or unconscious.
You are the one who somehow doesn't get it.
As if you believe that CRT actually wants to teach us to judge people by character?
Lollipop 🍭
Of you don't delete it this is the major reason why the Republican Party has not wake up like even Mike Pence.
If there’s one state where people must truly appreciate the importance of Social Security and Medicare, it’s Florida. Nearly 5 million Floridians rely on these programs for financial and health security every day.
For many seniors in the Sunshine State, their Social Security checks — averaging a modest $1,625 per month — can make the difference between financial survival and falling into poverty. Without Medicare, most Florida seniors would not have affordable health insurance and access to quality medical care.
How ironic, then, that Florida’s own Sen. Rick Scott would propose a plan that could bring an end to Social Security and Medicare as we know them.
Scott has proposed that, should the Republican Party regain the majority in Congress, all federal laws should be reauthorized every five years. That includes Social Security and Medicare. For either program to continue, Congress would have to vote to re-enact both — an outcome that would be far from guaranteed. And even if Social Security and Medicare were reauthorized, opponents of these programs would have an opportunity to cut earned benefits every five years. Fiscal conservatives have long been skeptical of federal programs that help society’s most vulnerable, but Scott’s proposal goes beyond skepticism to outright recklessness.
You distorted CRT from day one.
It doesn't teach people to hate you or even rat.
People can make up their own minds if they see both sides of political views.

Seven years ago today, the supreme court issued one of the most consequential rulings in a generation in a case called Shelby county v Holder. In a 5-4 vote, the court struck down a formula at the heart of the Voting Rights Act, the landmark 1965 law that required certain states and localities with a history of discrimination against minority voters to get changes cleared by the federal government before they went into effect.
It’s hard to overstate the significance of this decision. The power of the Voting Rights Act was in the design that the supreme court gutted – discriminatory voting policies could be blocked before they harmed voters. The law placed the burden of proof on government officials to prove why the changes they were seeking were not discriminatory. Now, voters who are discriminated against now bear the burden of proving they are disenfranchised.

You’re fucking stupid Alky
You distorted CRT from day one.
Have I ???
You do realize that people who advocate CRT and liberal views on race are the ones suggesting that "colorblind meritocracy" is a racist view pushed by white people who do not want to be held accountable for their systemic and subconscious racism.
Your mom's views are exactly what I would teach.
But that is the opposite of what CRT would teach.
Why don't you tell us how people should be viewed Roger?
Do you actually believe in content of character?
Or should everyone be viewed through the lens of their race?
I actually do believe that CRT actually wants to teach us to judge people by character.
That's interesting because all of the grifters, con artists, and race hustlers like Henry Rogers X., Robin DiAngelo and the rest teach that ALL white people are inherently racist. Racist from birth, like the concept of original sin in Christianity.
Exhibit A: https://www.robindiangelo.com/publications/
Check out that list of bullshit.
When an ideology submits that every white person is inherently racist just because they were born white, it's bullshit straight up, designed by folks who see it as a way to ca$h in, and should never be taken seriously.
The worst president in history is the last one not this one.
He's a domestic terrorist
Terrorism is inherent to Trumpism because he is an avatar of white backlash. Every time Blacks have made gains, there has been a violent white reaction: Reconstruction, the great migration, the Civil Rights movement, Obama’s election, Black Lives Matter. Trump rose to political prominence by spreading the racist birther conspiracy that Obama was not born in the United States. Then he doubled down on GOP smears that Obama is a Muslim Manchurian agent, personally responsible for terror attacks like the Pulse nightclub massacre in 2015.
I actually do believe that CRT actually wants to teach us to judge people by character.
Then you really do not understand CRT.
Critical Race Theory is LITERALLY the concept of viewing society through the lens of race. Critical Race theory literally teaches that our entire social and legal system is based on the interests of white people, at the expense of minorities. This is an intersectionality argument... where everything ends up with discrimination and privilege and that in the case of CRT - the intersectionality is race driven.
That is THE VERY DEFINITION of Critical Race Theory, Roger...
CRT quite literally DEFIES the idea that society has anything to do with character or that people get ahead or behind because of any personality traits. It LITERALLY (BY DEFINITION) teaches that all things come back to race.
I am colorblind

You and I were brought up on the teachings of MLK Jr and the idea that we should all be given equal opportunity to succeed in life.
As a conservative... I am still able to live by these views.
As a liberal, you are forced to reject what your mother taught you.
As a liberal you are forced to embrace the concept of race based privilege and discrimination that exists both systemically and subconsciously so that the only solution is to replace equality with equity. Where instead of everyone having equal opportunity, everyone should be guaranteed equal results. You must believe that if a black person fails, it is not their fault, but rather it is your fault.
Now... in your case you are in a lock down mental facility and not in much of a position to brag. But in the eyes of most liberals any success someone like I have achieved throughout my life... is not because I worked two jobs to get through college, not because I worked hard at my jobs, not because I have excelled at anything... I have a good life and material things because of privilege.

Democrats Introduce Bill To Get Police Out Of Schools
Jul 31, 2020
The deaths of Black people at the hands of police this year ignited an important conversation about police reform in this country. A number of proposals have been introduced to address various facets of policing at the federal, state, and local levels. This week, Democratic lawmakers in Congress added to that list with a bill to get police out of schools.
Senators Chris Murphy (CT) and Elizabeth Warren (MA), along with Representatives Ayanna Pressley (MA) and Ilhan Omar (MN), introduced the Counseling Not Criminalization in Schools Act that would prohibit federal money to be used to fund police in schools. The lawmakers said this would prevent money from being diverted from important student service providers, like counselors and social workers.
The legislation has the backing of the two major teachers’ unions, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the National Education Association (NEA). It also has the support of a number of civil rights organizations, including the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and the Human Rights Campaign.
“Police shouldn't be in schools,” said Senator Murphy in a statement. “There are plenty of better ways to ensure that our schools are safe places to learn, and Congress needs to understand how police in schools ends up with the wrong kids getting arrested for minor disciplinary actions and resources being drained from more effective programs.”
Systemic racism is a major problem in policing and Murphy pointed that out in regard to police in schools. He went on, “we know that Black and Latino kids are disproportionately affected, as they are referred and arrested at drastically higher rates than their white peers. If we are going to begin to tackle systemic racism in this country, we must start by addressing the racial inequities in our education system, and getting police out of classrooms is a necessary first step.”

Beto O’Rourke’s big gamble on gun safety may have positioned him perfectly for 2022 midterms: report
Bob Brigham
May 25, 2022
Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-TX) made a big gamble when he came out against assault rifles as a Texas Democrat, but his gamble may have paid off after the Lonestar state suffered yet another mass shooting.
"Officials in Texas described in chilling detail on Wednesday how an 18-year-old gunman shot his grandmother in the face and left her wounded at her home, drove a pickup truck that crashed at a high speed by a nearby elementary school, and exchanged shots with police officers on the scene who were unable to stop him before he killed 19 children and two teachers in a massacre in a single classroom," The New York Times reported Wednesday. "The gunman was inside the school for roughly one hour before a tactical unit from the border patrol shot him several times, killing him."
Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott held a news conference on Wednesday that was interrupted by O'Rourke, who on Tuesday became the Democratic Party nominee for governor.
“The time to stop the next shooting is right now, and you are doing nothing,” O’Rourke said. “You’re offering us nothing.”

The Fed is being very helpful.
The May 3-4 session saw the rate-setting FOMC approve a half percentage point hike and lay out a plan, starting in June, to reduce the central bank’s $9 trillion balance sheet consisting mostly of Treasurys and mortgage-backed securities.
That was the biggest rate increase in 22 years and came as the Fed is trying to pull down inflation running at a 40-year high.
Market pricing currently sees the Fed moving to a policy rate around 2.5%-2.75% by the end of the year, which would be consistent with where many central bankers view a neutral rate. Statements in the minutes, though, indicate that the committee is prepared to go beyond there.
“All participants reaffirmed their strong commitment and determination to take the measures necessary to restore price stability,” the meeting summary stated.
“To this end, participants agreed that the Committee should expeditiously move the stance of monetary policy toward a neutral posture, through both increases in the target range for the federal funds rate and reductions in the size of the Federal Reserve’s balance sheet,” it continued.
On the balance sheet issue, the plan will be to allow a capped level of proceeds to roll off each month, a number that will reach $95 billion by August, including $60 billion Treasurys and $35 billion for mortgages. The minutes further indicate that an outright sale of mortgage-backed securities is possible, with notice of that happening well in advance.
The minutes mentioned inflation 60 times, with members expressing concern about rising prices even amid confidence that Fed policy and the easing of several contributing factors, such as supply chain problems, combined with tighter monetary policy would help the situation. On the other hand, officials noted that the war in Ukraine and the Covid-associated lockdowns in China would exacerbate inflation.
At his post-meeting news conference, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell took the unusual step of addressing the American public directly to stress the central bank’s commitment to taming inflation. Last week, Powell said in a Wall Street Journal interview that it would take “clear and convincing evidence” that inflation was coming down to the Fed’s 2% target before the rate increases would stop.
“The time to stop the next shooting is right now, and you are doing nothing,” O’Rourke said. “You’re offering us nothing.”
I just watched the clip of this incident.

Waiting an entire fucking year to address inflation by raising interest rates and trying to cover your ass with bullshit economic rhetoric is not helpful alky.
It may SEEM helpful to an economic moron like you, but to those of us who have to budget for more than just a weekly allotment of Juicy Juice suck boxes it's not helpful at all.
This is why Nurse Ratched can't give you the door code.

NRA Gives ‘Deepest Sympathies’ to Families of Dead Kids
May 25, 2022 at 5:15 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 31 Comments
The National Rifle Association said its “deepest sympathies” are with the families and victims of the Uvalde, Texas, elementary school massacre, CNBC reports.
The only "deepest sympathies" that could count would be to stop opposing reasonable gun laws that could help keep this from happening as often or as fatally.
And do that in opposition to the gun lobbies that are only interested in making money.

Look for the housing market to stop dead in it's tracks with the impending 8, 9, and 10% 30 year fixed rate mortgages borrowers will get to enjoy by the end of the year.
What is the 30-year fixed mortgage rate today?
5.38%
Strap on another 2.5%-2.75% by the end of the year to the policy rate, and mortgage rates are back to approaching where I bought my first house in 1988. 10.5%.

Firearm Stocks Soar Over Fears Of New Gun-Control Laws
The retired police officer who was shot and killed while trying to stop the gunman in the racist attack at a Buffalo supermarket on May 14 was awarded the department’s medal of honor at his funeral on Wednesday, as the country processed another massacre at Uvalde, Texas, that killed 19 children and two adults, the Associated Press reports.

Buffalo police commissioner Joseph Gramaglia also posthumously promoted Aaron Salter to lieutenant, saying his actions — firing multiple times at the shooter, striking his body armor — bought precious time that allowed others in the store to escape.
“Aaron bravely fought evil that day,” Gramaglia said at The Chapel in Getzville, where law enforcement officers from US and Canadian departments Buffalo being on the US northern border] filled a dozen rows.
Services were also held for Pearl Young, a 77-year-old grandmother, great-grandmother and substitute teacher who was devoted to her church.

Hunter Biden lied on a Form 4473 to illegally purchase a gun, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison & a $250K fine. His girlfriend then dumped that gun in the trash next to a school. He wasn’t even arrested. Why don’t we enforce existing laws before demanding new ones?
Enough is enough Joe
Roger,
During May alone, our nation has witnessed three horrific acts of violence. Today, we mourn those whose lives were lost at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and we share a deep and profound grief for their families, friends and neighbors.
It has been 10 days since the racially motivated massacre that killed 10 members of a Black community in Buffalo. Now we must reckon with the loss of at least 21 people – most of whom were children – in Uvalde.
The mass shootings this month remind us of the ever-present threat of senseless violence. They also reaffirm the importance of making space for the emotional trauma felt by students and Black and Brown people, the primary targets of these attacks.
The killings within communities of color, as in Uvalde, compound the violence of white supremacy that has taken the form of vigilante attacks, mass shootings and police violence.
Two years ago today, George Floyd was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer. His death was captured on video by a young woman, Darnella Frazier, making it possible for millions to witness this injustice.
The loss of Floyd’s life and too many others sparked protests far beyond Minneapolis, as more than half a million people in 550 places across the country took to the streets to proclaim Black Lives Matter – one of the largest movements in our nation’s history.
Floyd’s story is unusual in that it resulted in legal consequences for all four officers involved. Each was found to have violated Floyd’s civil rights and, in 2021, Derek Chauvin was convicted of Floyd’s murder.
According to Mapping Police Violence, 7,666 police officers killed someone in the U.S. between 2013 and 2019. Of those cases, only 25 officers were convicted of a crime. In another 74 cases, the officers were charged with a crime but not convicted.
In 99% of the cases, officers were not charged with any crime whatsoever.
At this moment, let us reflect on our aspirations for this country. Transformation is necessary to end this all-too-common violence. Structural change is needed to achieve communities where everyone can feel secure in their safety and human rights.
For police to build trust with the communities they serve, they must be willing to call out criminal behavior within their own ranks. Fostering a culture of accountability is an essential first step on the path to achieving communities without police violence.
We as a movement do not run from a tough situation. We will continue to march for civil rights for all, just as we always have. And we will demand elected leaders who represent our values and priorities.
In the names of those we have lost, we must continue the fight for justice.
Sincerely,
Your the Southern Poverty Law Center
The majority of people have urged Congress to “stand up” to powerful gun lobby groups, who for years have opposed efforts at the state and federal levels to put gun control measures in place.
On Wednesday, Biden said he was “sick and tired” of mass shootings across the country, calling for “courage” to reform gun laws.
“We must ask when in God’s name will we do what needs to be done to – if not completely stop – fundamentally change the amount of the carnage that goes on in this country,” he said.

‘Sick SOB’ Beto O’Rourke Is Such A Desperate Narcissist He Hijacked A Uvalde Tragedy Briefing For A Campaign Stunt
When Texas Democrat gubernatorial candidate Robert Francis (Beto) O’Rourke charged the stage at Gov. Greg Abbott’s Wednesday afternoon press conference about the elementary school shooting tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, he showed the Lone Star State and the nation that he’s a sick politician who thinks tragedy can and should be cashed in on for political gain.
While Texas officials gave a somber account of the events leading up to Tuesday’s tragic shooting as well as details about the deranged shooter, who took at least 21 lives, O’Rourke wasn’t thinking about the families who never got to tell their loved ones goodbye. He was plotting a way to pivot attention away from the chilling, mournful moments back to the leftist ignorance plaguing his Twitter feed.
“The time to stop the next shooting is now, and you are doing nothing,” O’Rourke shouted before being forcefully escorted from the press conference.
“You’re out of line and an embarrassment,” Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said as he tried to shoo O’Rourke away from the stage.
In the words of Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin, “I can’t believe you’re a sick son of a b-tch that would come to a deal like this to make a political issue.”
Yet O’Rourke, the same guy who once pledged “H-ll yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” simply is.
As a matter of fact, O’Rourke’s outburst proved that he is the embodiment of the Democrats’ angry, anti-gun, inhumane political agenda, wanting to claim blood from mass shootings is on the hands of any pro-gun Republican or American.
“This is on you,” he yelled and pointed at Abbott as he was ushered out of the auditorium.
As Abbott later noted in a statement about the incident, “there are family members who are crying as we speak.”
“There are family members whose hearts are broken–there’s no word that anybody shouting can come up here and do anything to heal those broken hearts,” he said. “We need all Texas to, in this one moment in time, put aside personal agendas, think of somebody other than ourselves, think about the people who are hurt, and help those who have been hurt.”
For O’Rourke, that obviously wasn’t an option. His identity lies strictly in his partisan attempt to win over the state of Texas and he wasn’t willing to sacrifice that for one moment to allow the Lone Star State to grieve. Instead, he took advantage of the moment to throw shade at the man he is challenging in the upcoming election, upsetting Texans.

Pro-gun organisations have also paid a total of $54.4m in direct campaign contributions, a category subject to restrictions on donations, from 1990 to 2020, according to OpenSecrets. The contributions in recent years have been almost entirely to Republicans.
The top recipients so far in 2022 in the US Congress were Republican Senators Rand Paul and John Kennedy, who each received over $38,000 from pro-gun groups, according to OpenSecrets. US House of Representatives Minority Whip Steve Scalise received $25,610 from pro-gun groups during that period.
In 2018, during his re-election bid, Texas Senator Cruz received $311,151 in direct contributions from pro-gun groups.
In 2020, vulnerable Republican Senators Martha McSally, David Perdue, and Kelly Loeffler received over $516,000, $307,000, and $298,000 respectively from pro-gun groups, according to OpenSecrets

2019
The authors, led by Charles DiMaggio, a professor of surgery at New York University’s Langone Medical Center, studied mass-shooting data from 1981 to 2017 that were common to three open-source sets of data. They concluded that assault rifles accounted for 430, or 85.8 percent, of the 501 mass-shooting fatalities reported in 44 incidents but that there were nine fewer mass shooting-related deaths per 10,000 homicides during the federal ban period. Assuming the calculations were correct, the authors said an assault weapons ban would have prevented 314 of the 448, or 70 percent, of the mass-shooting deaths during the years when the ban was not in effect.
That’s an interesting finding, but the study has been disputed. In a letter published by the journal, Louis Klarevas, a research professor at Teachers College of Columbia University, said the “authors misidentified the involvement of assault weapons in roughly half of the incidents.” He wrote that “when the erroneous cases are recalibrated, the number of incidents involving assault weapons drops 62 percent from 34 to 13, and the number of fatalities resulting from such shootings drops 46 percent from 430 to 232.” He also said one incident did not qualify for inclusion because it involved three shooting deaths, not four.
In a response that will be published, the authors said: “We make no claim to have retroactively determined whether these guns would have been illegal under the original statutory language. We question Dr. Klarevas’s claims to be able to do so.” Klarevas told The Fact Checker that he stood by his conclusion that “they conflate many semiautomatic firearms with assault weapons.” As he put it, “assault weapons are by nature semiautomatic, but semiautomatic firearms are not necessarily assault weapons.”
Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Arizona) was forced to deleted a truthful and offensive to liberals tweet Tuesday that correctly claimed the gunman who killed more than 20 people at a Texas school was a “transsexual leftist illegal alien.” Woke people censor us
2 year anniversary
A year ago, today I witnessed a murder. The victim’s name was George Floyd. Although this wasn’t the first time, I’ve seen a black man get killed at the hands of the police, this is the first time I witnessed it happen in front of me. Right in front of my eyes, a few feet away. I didn’t know this man from a can of paint, but I knew his life mattered. I knew that he was in pain. I knew that he was another black man in danger with no power. I was only 17 at the time, just a normal day for me walking my 9-year-old cousin to the corner store, not even prepared for what I was about to see, not even knowing my life was going to change on this exact day in those exact moments... it did. It changed me. It changed how I viewed life. It made me realize how dangerous it is to be Black in America. We shouldn’t have to walk on eggshells around police officers, the same people that are supposed to protect and serve. We are looked at as thugs, animals, and criminals, all because of the color of our skin. Why are Black people the only ones viewed this way when every race has some type of wrongdoing? None of us are to judge. We are all human. I am 18 now and I still hold the weight and trauma of what I witnessed a year ago. It’s a little easier now, but I’m not who I used to be. A part of my childhood was taken from me. My 9-year-old cousin who witnessed the same thing I did got a part of her childhood taken from her. Having to up and leave because my home was no longer safe, waking up to reporters at my door, closing my eyes at night only to see a man who is brown like me, lifeless on the ground. I couldn’t sleep properly for weeks. I used to shake so bad at night my mom had to rock me to sleep. Hopping from hotel to hotel because we didn’t have a home and looking over our back every day in the process. Having panic and anxiety attacks every time I seen a police car, not knowing who to trust because a lot of people are evil with bad intentions. I hold that weight. A lot of people call me a hero even though I don’t see myself as one. I was just in the right place at the right time. Behind this smile, behind these awards, behind the publicity, I’m a girl trying to heal from something I am reminded of every day. Everyone talks about the girl who recorded George Floyd‘s death, but to actually be her is a different story. Not only did this affect me, my family too. We all experienced change. My mom the most. I strive every day to be strong for her because she was strong for me when I couldn’t be strong for myself. Even though this was a traumatic life-changing experience for me, I’m proud of myself. If it weren’t for my video, the world wouldn’t have known the truth. I own that. My video didn’t save George Floyd, but it put his murderer away and off the streets. You can view George Floyd anyway you choose to view him, despite his past, because don’t we all have one? He was a loved one, someone’s son, someone’s father, someone’s brother, and someone’s friend. We the people won’t take the blame, you won’t keep pointing fingers at us as if it’s our fault, as if we are criminals. I don’t think people understand how serious death is...that person is never coming back. These officers shouldn’t get to decide if someone gets to live or not. It’s time these officers start getting held accountable. Murdering people and abusing your power while doing it is not doing your job. It shouldn’t have to take people to actually go through something to understand it’s not ok. It’s called having a heart and understanding right from wrong. George Floyd, I can’t express enough how I wish things could have went different, but I want you to know you will always be in my heart. I’ll always remember this day because of you. May your soul rest in peace. 🙏🏽🖤May you rest in the most beautiful roses. 🌹- Darnella Frazier
This Friday, Trump is scheduled to speak at the annual NRA convention in Houston – less than 300 miles from Uvalde. The convention hall will be full of NSSF industry members lining up to court Trump and his frenzied fans. The system continues to work just as it was designed by the NRA and NSSF; from their point of view, nothing about it is broken.
There is a reason why troubled 18-year-olds can buy assault rifles, body armor and high-capacity magazines. There is a reason why racism, conspiracies and increasingly dangerous idolatry infect parts of our country, and federal gun legislation has stalled time and time again. It’s the gun lobby – the NRA, the NSSF and the politicians who are frightened of them.
The horrific murders of second- and third-graders are part of that system. It’s time to rebuild it. We can all be safer from gun violence if we’re willing to stand up to the gun lobby and the politicians who champion their dangerous extremism in pursuit of profits. Peter Thiel, the billionaire tech financier who is among those leading the charge, once wrote, “I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible.”
Thiel is using his fortune to squelch democracy. He donated $15m to the successful Republican Ohio senatorial primary campaign of JD Vance, who alleges that the 2020 election was stolen and that Biden’s immigration policy has meant “more Democrat voters pouring into this country.”
Thiel has donated at least $10m to the Arizona Republican primary race of Blake Masters, who also claims Trump won the 2020 election and admires Lee Kuan Yew, the authoritarian founder of modern Singapore.
The former generation of wealthy conservatives backed candidates like Barry Goldwater, who wanted to conserve American institutions.
Thiel and his fellow billionaires in the anti-democracy movement don’t want to conserve much of anything – at least not anything that occurred after the 1920s, which includes Social Security, civil rights, and even women’s right to vote. As Thiel wrote:
The 1920s were the last decade in American history during which one could be genuinely optimisti c about politics. Since 1920, the vast increase in welfare beneficiaries and the extension of the franchise to women – two constituencies that are notoriously tough for libertarians – have rendered the notion of “capitalist democracy” into an oxymoron.
Rubbish. if “capitalist democracy” is becoming an oxymoron, it’s not because of public assistance or because women got the right to vote. It’s because billionaire capitalists like Thiel are drowning democracy in giant campaign donations to authoritarian candidates who repeat Trump’s big lie. aka the fascist party of this generation
I get a kick out of watching the British views of the United States 🇺🇸.
If you want to see just how dysfunctional the US obsession with guns is, just take a look at how the right is responding to the horrific shooting. You’d think that 19 dead children might weigh on their conscience a little bit; make them reconsider commonsense gun laws. But, no, they are busy regurgitating all the usual talking points and arguing that guns aren’t actually the problem, everything else is.
First, trans people and immigrants were blamed. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Republican congressman Paul Gosar tweeted that the shooter was a “transsexual leftist illegal alien”. His source for this lie was the rightwing social network 4Chan, which was busy circulating the picture of a transgender artist and wrongly claiming it was the shooter. (He has now deleted the tweet.)
Then the Federalist found a way to blame Ukraine for the shooting in Texas. “Sandy Hook proved the need to enhance K-12 security,” one headline blared. “Congress armed Ukraine instead.” Gold medal for mental gymnastics right there.
Then last night, Fox News, tried to shift blame on to the parents. Host Laura Ingraham strategically brought Andrew Pollack, the father of a Parkland victim who has previously argued that “guns didn’t kill my daughter, Democratic principles did,” on to her show.
“It’s the parents,” Pollack told Ingraham. “It’s your responsibility where you’re sending your children to school … You need to check where your kids go to school. You need to go back to school and see. Is there a single point of entry? Do you have guards at the school?”
He went on to suggest that it’s better for parents to take their kids out “of public school and put them in a private school because a lot of these private schools, they take security way more serious … Parents it’s your responsibility where you take your children.” Ingraham was very pleased with that analysis. “Andrew is exactly right,” she concluded.
Pollack has previously expressed the idea that regulating guns is not the answer to preventing school shootings, and has advocated for schools to put in more “safety” measures like barriers, bulletproof glass and security officers. Ingraham pressed him on that point, stating that “[schools] still don’t have those safety mechanisms in place”.
If this wasn't written by two of the craziest Republicans I would be worried. But Jim Jordan and Mike Tudema are two of the craziest people in the House.
GOP representatives demand “full accounting of the approximately 3,394,053 U.S. person queries conducted by the FBI in calendar year (CY) 2021.”
QUICK FACTS:The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted warrantless “person queries” on over 3.3 million Americans from December 2020 through November 2021, according to a May 25 letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray written by Republican Ohio Reps. Jim Jordan and Mike Turner.
The Republican Party has turned America into a killing field.
Republicans have allowed guns to proliferate while weakening barriers to ownership, lowering the age at which one can purchase a weapon and eliminating laws governing how, when and where guns can be carried.
They have done this in part with help from conservatives on the Supreme Court who have upheld a corrupt and bastardized interpretation of the Second Amendment.
But Republicans have also done so by promoting fear and paranoia. They tell people that criminals are coming to menace you, immigrants are coming to menace you, a race war (or racial replacement) is coming to menace you and the government itself may one day come to menace you.
The only defense you have against the menace is to be armed.

Well alky, when you have a federal law enforcement agency as powerful as the FBI, and as corrupt and incompetent as the FBI fucking with people just for the sake of fucking with people because they CAN, that's a fucking problem.
You keep telling us that it's TRUMP who's brining the jack-booted government brown shirts to America, but it keeps turning out that it's YOUR team who's doing it.
Warrantless “person queries.” How completely and totally fucking FASCIST.
It's no wonder you clowns want our guns.

He's right. Instead of hardening our schools to protect our kids we hang a "Gun Free Zone" sign outside of them and call it good.
Then we send $40 Fucking BILLION to a coked-up clown in Eastern Europe who we "honor" by hanging their flag upside down in the Pentagon.

Heavyweight Republicans No Longer Fear Trump

“Go in there! Go in there!” nearby women shouted at the officers soon after the attack began, said Juan Carranza, 24, who saw the scene from outside his house, across the street from Robb Elementary School in the close-knit town of Uvalde. Carranza said the officers did not go in.
Javier Cazares, whose fourth grade daughter, Jacklyn Cazares, was killed in the attack, said he raced to the school when he heard about the shooting, arriving while police were still gathered outside the building.
Upset that police were not moving in, he raised the idea of charging into the school with several other bystanders.
“Let’s just rush in because the cops aren’t doing anything like they are supposed to,” he said. “More could have been done.”
“They were unprepared,” he added.

Fourth-grade teacher Eva Mireles, was killed in the shooting. She had worked for the Uvalde school district for 17 years, said the teacher’s aunt, Lydia Martinez Delgado.

A neighbor of Mireles told the New York Post that Mireles “was just a sweetheart”.
“It’s a tragedy that this happened to a person like this,” said the neighbor, who did not want to be identified. “She was the sweetest person and she would take her cute dogs out on walks and she would say hi.”
She was reportedly married to Ruben Ruiz, a police officer, and has a daughter. Delgado said her niece took pride in her teaching, and that she had been told that she was killed protecting her pupils.
“She was the fun of the party,” she said in a statement reported by ABC. “I’m furious that these shootings continue. These children are innocent. Rifles should not be easily available to all.”

Police face questions over delays in storming Texas school
By JAKE BLEIBERG, JIM VERTUNO and ELLIOT SPAGAT10 minutes ago
UVALDE, Texas (AP) — Law enforcement authorities faced questions and criticism Thursday over how much time elapsed before they stormed an Uvalde elementary school classroom and put a stop to the rampage by a gunman who killed 19 children and two teachers.
Investigators were also unable to say with any certainty whether an armed school district security officer outside Robb Elementary exchanged fire with the attacker, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, when he first arrived on Tuesday.
The motive for the rampage — the nation’s deadliest school shooting since Newtown, Connecticut, a decade ago — remained under investigation, with authorities saying Ramos had no known criminal or mental health history.
During the siege, which ended when a Border Patrol team burst in and shot Ramo to death, frustrated onlookers urged police officers to charge into the school, according to witnesses.
“Go in there! Go in there!” women shouted at the officers soon after the attack began, said Juan Carranza, 24, who watched the scene from outside his house, across the street from the school.
Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw said Wednesday that 40 minutes to an hour elapsed from when Ramos opened fire on the school security officer to when the tactical team shot him.

AS ARE YOU AND THE YELLOW COWARDS OF THE GOP WHO TAKE WOMENS RIGHTS AND GIVE KIDS THE ABILITY TO KILL INDISCRIMINATELY !!!!!
Firearms were the leading cause of death for kids one and older for the first time in 2020, the most recent year for which CDC data is available.
Why it matters: The firearm death rate among children is steadily rising, as more kids are involved in gun-related homicides like Tuesday's mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, as well as suicides and accidents.
By the numbers: Nearly two-thirds of the 4,368 U.S. children up to age 19 who were killed by guns in 2020 were homicide victims, per the CDC. Motor vehicle crashes, formerly the leading cause of death for kids one and older, killed nearly 4,000 children.
Another 30% of firearm-related child fatalities were suicides, 3% were accidental and 2% were of undetermined intent.Male youths were significantly more likely to be killed by guns, while vehicle crashes claimed more females. There were also stark racial disparities. The firearm death rate for Black children was more than four times that of white children, and white children were still more likely to be killed by motor vehicles than guns.D.C. had the highest firearm death rate, followed by Louisiana, Alaska and Mississippi.

Economists largely expect the U.S. to rebound in the second quarter as some of the factors holding back growth early in the year subside. A surge in the omicron variant slowed activity, and the Russian attack on Ukraine aggravated supply chain issues that had contributed to a 40-year high in inflation.
CNBC’s Rapid Update survey shows a median expectation of 3.3% growth in the second quarter; the Atlanta Fed’s GDPNow tracker also points to a rebound, but at a more subdued 1.8% pace.
One factor helping to propel growth is a resilient consumer fighting through inflation than accelerated 8.3% from a year ago in April.
Roger do you believe the Police Officers have a constitutional duty to act?

Roger, did you see California told its Residents not to water their lawns?
Oh, nevermind . You don't own a home with a yard.
Warned ya 14 months ago.
Good to see this Warning.
"Davos attendees have been discussing the global food crisis at the annual World Economic Forum, with the head of the World Food Programme warning of ‘famines around the world’."
Bidens black farmers will solve this after spending $36 billion and transferring a million acres.
We have a problem in this country — that’s just a fact. But it’s a problem much more complicated than many would like to admit. The solution is not simply to restrict access to firearms, as gun control advocates like to claim. And I say this as someone who is much more of a squish on gun policies than many of my fellow conservatives. I think it’s ridiculous, for example, that the 18-year-old Uvalde shooter was able to own a gun legally when he was not considered legally responsible or mature enough to buy a beer. And I think certain restrictions, such as narrow and well-defined red flag laws that would allow law enforcement to block a person’s access to firearms if a family member or close friend is able to prove he is mentally unfit to carry one, are a good idea.
But there is no evidence that the sweeping gun control policies pushed by leftists, such as an outright ban on assault-style weapons, would have done anything to prevent the mass shootings that have taken place. Such policies aren’t even good at preventing common crime. In Chicago, for example, which has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country, and where law enforcement regularly seizes thousands of illegal weapons per year, crime is so rampant that Mayor Lori Lightfoot had to enact a curfew prohibiting minors from being outside after 10 p.m.
Moreover, gun control policies, even if they could be effective, would be little more than a Band-Aid solution. People don't shoot each other just because there are guns around. The Uvalde shooter wanted to shoot up a classroom full of children — that's the real problem.
This, ultimately, is the heart of the debate. Why are so many young men being driven to commit such heinous acts of violence? Why do they always seem to have no one in their lives paying attention to the signs of mental instability and aggression? What is wrong with our systems that they keep failing to identify and help people who are desperately in need of an intervention?
Gun policies are just one part of the debate, and they usually only scratch the surface. But it’s easier to focus on firearms than it is to talk about the other cultural factors at play, which we tend to avoid because they reveal difficult truths about our society and the ways in which it has failed.
Why is it, for example, that 75% of the most recent school shooters, including the 18-year-old in Uvalde, were raised in broken homes without fathers? Indeed, this background is so common among perpetrators that criminologists Michael Gottfredson and Travis Hirschi concluded after the Sandy Hook school shooting that the absence of fathers is one of the “most powerful predictors of crimes.” Boys raised without a fatherly presence are more likely to act impulsively, irrationally, and, yes, violently. They were deprived of the discipline, structure, authoritative role model, and sense of identity that a father is supposed to provide, and they suffered for it.
Unfortunately, 75% of black children are born into similar situations , along with 61% of Hispanic children and 39% of white children. But instead of advocating a cultural revival and policies that would encourage it, today’s leftists insist that there’s nothing wrong with eliminating the traditional family structure of a mother and father. In fact, they argue that getting rid of it is a good thing. Just a couple of years ago, Black Lives Matter vowed to “dismantle the patriarchy practice” of appointing men as the heads of homes and “disrupt the Western prescribed nuclear family structure.”

“Again: a lot of this is uncertain. But it does appear that more than 20 people were killed despite a security officer at the scene when the gunman arrived and despite the police being there soon after the killing began.
“In other words, there were lots of ‘good guys with guns’ in Uvalde, as the rhetorical line goes. But 19 kids died anyway.”
