"Thanks to the courage found within the United States Supreme Court, this long divisive issue will be decided by the states, and by the American people," Trump told the crowd at the Adams County Fairgrounds. "That's the way it should have been many many years ago, and that's the way it is now."
"I especially want to commend the justices for standing strong in the face of outrageous threats and even violence," he continued. "You've been seeing what's been going on. There's never been a time like this. The left-wing campaign of terror directed at the Supreme Court in recent months is unlike anything in the history of our country."And manages to say what what many people are thinking right now
The former president went on to condemn "attempted assassination of Justice Kavanaugh, the illegal intimidation of justices homes, and the radical Left's violent terrorist attacks on pro-life centers" as "a frontal assault on our republic." "This was an organized and concentrated effort to threaten the court and interfere with its decisions," Trump said of the outrage that ensued ahead of the ruling. "But the justices stood their ground against these extremists and these terrorists, and they did not back down."
In his most notable comments, he condemned Democratic Party leadership for not focusing their own ire on the threats made against Supreme Court justices after the Dobbs draft was leaked in May. Instead, Trump argued, Democrats kept their focus on the Jan. 6 select committee hearings that began this month."At the very moment the radical Democrats are staging a ridiculous fake trial over January 6, their party leaders are saying nothing about the violent intimidation of the United States Supreme Court," he said. "They refuse to talk about it. They refuse to do anything.
This will certainly solidify Trump's position as a frontrunner in the GOP nomination for 2024... which depending on to what degree Slow Joe and his minions have recovered from destroying the country might be more important than the General (which no Democrat could win if that election was held next week).
But poll after poll after poll after poll has suggested that the Country expects their elected officials to govern the country and concentrate on the tangible issues that they are elected to serve. They want to buy a tank of gas without having to take out a loan, they want to find basic necessities at the store, they want a better economy, they want more crime prevention, more security at the border, and a basic degree of competence in world affairs. They are worried about the supply chain, inflation, their job security and how bad our upcoming recession will actually be.
What polls are showing (on the flip side) is that a growing majority of the country do not want "woke" liberal social issue style politicians. They are not willing to pay $6/gallon for gas, watch inflation hit the 8% range, and watch our country fall into a recession, so they can elect more whiny liberals who simply want to push a doctrine. They want politicians like Ocasio-Cortez to show the same passion for the economy as she does for a USSC decision that she literally do nothing about as a congresswoman.
But hey...
That is just what the electorate wants. Your liberal media, liberal scholars, liberal DOJ, liberal education system are all going to push their own nonsense. Some of you will be dumb enough to listen!

Trump, it's not your uterus!
The decision was a judicial fiat.
He appointed the three nominees who staged it.
Sorry...
Does an abortion remove a uterus?
Perhaps I am confused?
I always thought it removed a different life form all together?
And that ultimately there is a disagreement as to the meaning and importances and morality of ending the life form in question?
Technically are not all Judicial rulings an order or "fiat" as it were? And if you are using the term judicial "fiat" as some would use it to describe an arbitrary order with no basis behind it... then that is silly misuse of legal rhetoric likely pushed by someone who is an idiot.
The decision was not arbitrary or flippant. It was years in the making and quite possibly the single most debated (and least arbitrary) decision of all time.
One doesn't have to like the decision, Roger...
but at least attack it in an honest manner that makes sense. In fact, such a baseless statement that makes no sense might be called a "argument by fiat".
Day after pills prevent the fertilized egg to stay in the uterus.
Some of the most recognized US companies, including JPMorgan Chase, Meta (parent of Facebook and Instagram), Walt Disney, Tesla and Apple, have come forward to indicate they will extend coverage to workers who need access to safe, legal abortions.
Conservative lawmakers have warned that companies could face legal action if they support employee abortion travel. Citigroup was warned by a Texas lawmaker that under that state’s abortion law the bank could face criminal charges. In Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s concurring opinion in Friday’s court ruling, the Trump-appointed justice said states cannot bar their residents from traveling to seek abortions.
People in Texas and other states that forbids people to travel out of their states, can file suits against the law.

These numbers will matter in November
Fifty-nine percent of Americans disapprove of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and take away the federal protections of abortion rights, according to a new CBS News/YouGov reaction poll. Among women polled, 67% disapprove.
Why it matters: The new polling upholds what surveys before the decision showed us — that the majority of Americans support Roe.
52% call the court's decision a "step backward" for America, 31% say it's a "step forward," and 17% say neither.
Between the lines: Opinion is starkly divided along party lines. 78% of Republicans approve of the decision, compared with 38% of Independents and 17% of Democrats.

On The Great State of Kansas Ballot.
The Kansas No State Constitutional Right to Abortion and Legislative Power to Regulate Abortion Amendment is on the ballot in Kansas as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment on August 2, 2022.
A "yes" vote supports amending the Kansas Constitution to state that nothing in the state constitution creates a right to abortion or requires government funding for abortion and that the state legislature has the authority to pass laws regarding abortion.
A "no" vote opposes amending the Kansas Constitution to state that nothing in the state constitution creates a right to abortion or requires government funding for abortion and that the state legislature has the authority to pass laws regarding abortion, thereby maintaining the legal precedent established in Hodes & Nauser v. Schmidt (2019) that there is a right to abortions in the Kansas Bill of Rights.

The American public is rendering its initial judgment on the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and most disapprove of the ruling, including two-thirds of women who disapprove.
By more than a 20-point margin, Americans call it a step backward rather than forward for America. And women, by more than three to one, think the ruling will make women's lives worse rather than better.
Those who approve — and in particular, the three-fourths of conservatives who do — say they feel both hopeful and happy.
As they look ahead, those disapproving of Friday's ruling are especially likely to think the high court might someday limit or end birth control and also same-sex marriage.

What’s becoming clearer over time is that the Trump-era GOP is hoping to use its electoral dominance of the red states, the small-state bias in the Electoral College and the Senate, and the GOP-appointed majority on the Supreme Court to impose its economic and social model on the entire nation—with or without majority public support. As measured on fronts including the January 6 insurrection, the procession of Republican 2020 election deniers running for offices that would provide them with control over the 2024 electoral machinery, and the systematic advance of a Republican agenda by the Supreme Court, the underlying political question of the 2020s remains whether majority rule—and democracy as we’ve known it—can survive this offensive.

She's not as crazy as a lot of other Republican governors.
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, a Republican, said the state will not file criminal charges against women who get the procedure. She said the state also does not plan to pass laws similar to Texas and Oklahoma, which urge private citizens to file civil lawsuits against those accused of aiding and abetting abortions.
“I don’t believe women should ever be prosecuted,” she said on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday. “I don’t believe that mothers in this situation ever be prosecuted. Now, doctors who knowingly violate the law, they should be prosecuted, definitely.”
She said the state has not decided how to handle what will happen in the event a South Dakota resident travels to another state to get an abortion, saying “there’ll be a debate about that.”

Weeks after SCOTUS leak on abortion, Biden’s spox says WH doesn’t yet have a ‘strategic strategy’ in response to ruling
President Biden is in Europe for the G7, but yesterday before departing from the White House, he promised that his administration was prepared to respond to the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade which sends the issue back to the states. After all, the Biden White House has had weeks to prepare a response because of the leaked draft opinion several weeks ago.
Aboard Air Force One en route to the summit earlier, Biden’s press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked what the White House’s next step would be in the wake of the Court’s decision on Roe v. Wade, and her answer is peak KJP:
Q Will the president dedicate travel to the abortion issue to reach out to young ppl and women who are angry?
@PressSec
: "I don't have anything to read out to you specifically on a strategy -- a strategic strategy -- around the decision that was made by the Court yesterday"

Everyone else not so much, the day to day realties or kitchen table issues that Donks used to support are what will drive this election
The only way we can secure the right to choose is for Congress to restore Roe v. Wade as federal law. No executive action from the president can do that. If Congress, as it appears, lacks the votes to do that now, voters need to make their voices heard this fall.
This November, we must elect more senators and representatives who will fight back. We need to elect more state leaders to protect this right at the local level. We need to restore the protections of Roe as law of the land.

Trump loving fallout.
It’s impossible to overstate the gravity of America’s current political situation. The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe and the constitutional right to obtain an abortion — plus a host of other decisions the court’s radicalized conservative wing has handed down that chip away at democracy and basic rights — comes at the same time we are witnessing a frighteningly and rapidly warming Earth, a systematic weakening of voting rights, a disturbing acceleration of political and physical attacks on LGBTQ+ individuals, and millions who are still in thrall to a disgraced president who attempted to destroy our democracy.
As the Dobbs decision demonstrates, so many of our rights and so much of our democracy are in the hands of state governments, which as Politico reports are increasingly being targeted by those seeking to influence politics. American Oversight has for years now been using our open-records expertise to investigate threats to our democracy, including attacks on voting rights and the continuing efforts to advance the Big Lie.
Battleground Republicans Squeezed on Abortion

Politico:
“Multiple Republicans in tough races this fall — incumbents in districts Joe Biden carried — avoided abortion questions in the hours after the decision. Several others said only that it was an issue for states, not whether they’d support any legislation Democrats might put on the floor.
“Democrats say that silence, or occasional deflection, is a telling sign that Republicans know abortion rights remain broadly popular with much of the electorate — and that the GOP will soon face the wrath of suburban and purple-district voters. Some Republicans, too, acknowledge that abortion rights polling generally favors the left. But they say voters are harder to pin down when it comes to ‘late-term’ abortion or ‘heartbeat’ bans — terms the GOP leveraged to define the debate in recent years as the religious right gained influence.”

I listen to all of these foolish (stupid!) people, often living in a bygone era, like the weak and frail RINO, Peggy Noonan, who did much less for Ronald Reagan than she claims, and who actually said bad things about him and his ability to speak, or Rich Lowry, who has destroyed the once wonderful and influential National Review, the pride and joy of the legendary William F. Buckley, or George Will, whose mind is decaying with hatred and envy before our very eyes, or Jonah Goldberg and Stephen Hayes, two people who are finally out of the conversation and of no relevance whatsoever.

She is absolutely proof that Republicans from South Dakota are not crazy bitches 🙄
WASHINGTON (AP) — South Dakota’s Republican governor pledged on Sunday to bar mail-order abortion pills but said women should not face prosecution for seeking them.
In apparent defiance of legal guidance by the Justice Department after the Supreme Court last week stripped away women’s constitutional protections for abortion, Kristi Noem indicated in national television interviews that she would put in place a plan approved by state lawmakers to restrict the pills. The majority ruling Friday by the court’s conservative justices triggered abortion bans in South Dakota and elsewhere.
But Noem said doctors, not their patients, would likely be prosecuted for knowing violations of what would be one of the strictest laws on abortion pills in the United States.
“I don’t believe women should ever be prosecuted,” she said. “I don’t believe there should be any punishment for women, ever, that are in a crisis situation or have an unplanned pregnancy.”
Since January 6th Attack she didn't get brainwashed like Scott 😒
Was the decision actually designed to turn red states into concentration camps?
States with the harshest abortion restrictions have long had the worst rates of maternal and child health outcomes, such as low infant birth weights and child poverty;
Many of these states have roundly and repeatedly rejected badly-needed Medicaid expansions that would have vastly improved such disastrous outcomes;
The same states also tend to refuse minimum wage increases and have nothing to say for family or paid sick leave;
Furthermore, people forced to carry out their pregnancies are pushed into economically dire situations at much faster rates than those who are able to obtain care.???
States with the harshest abortion restrictions have long had the worst rates of maternal and child health outcomes, such as low infant birth weights and child poverty;
Please explain, IN YOUR OWN WORDS, the causal relationship here.

Former marketing executives launch campaign to keep Fox News from 'fueling next insurrection'
June 26, 2022
An organization called Check My Ads has launched a campaign in an effort to restrict Fox News ad revenue to prevent them from "working overtime to fuel the next insurrection."
The organization, which is run by two former marketing executives, has already collected over 40,000 signatures from people backing their efforts in just five days, according to The Guardian, and the goal is to get ad exchanges to drop the news site.
"Foxnews.com benefits enormously from being a part of the global advertising society. Foxnews.com receives ads from blue chip brands, which gives incredible legitimacy to the lies that they are publishing. That brand equity is intrinsically valuable," says Claire Atkin, a team member of Check My Ads.
The messaging included in the campaign reads:
HERE'S THE PROBLEM
Advertisers don't place ads on the internet themselves. They use ad exchanges — technology companies that run ads for them.
Ad exchanges don't work with just anyone. They choose which websites to work with and which ones to drop. They have standards to protect advertisers from funding violence. This is so important to advertisers that they have it written into their contracts.
When Fox News promoted the January 6th insurrection, it was violent. We all saw it — but ad exchange executives pretended it didn't happen.
Since then, Fox News has just gotten worse.
So here's the plan: we need to tell ad exchanges to block their ads from FoxNews.com now.
"Advertisers have been crystal clear that they do not want to sponsor violence. And we all saw what happened on January 6. It's not just violence, this was the attempted overthrow of the government. This is world-scale political violence," Atkin said. "We are opening the conversation up for everyone who wants to say enough is enough."
Liberal activists attack fox News. Wow, heluva breaking story there
Trumpism is fascism.
If you want to know what the slide into fascism looks like, go back and review Tuesday’s session of the U.S. House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
It was a tragic parade of public servants relaying the vile acts of harassment they were subjected to as they did the hard work of making sure the wheels of American democracy turned smoothly during the 2020 election.
There was Georgia election worker Wandrea “Shaye” Moss, who, along with her mother, Ruby Freeman, were harassed by Trump supporters after the former president publicly falsely accused them of engaging in voter fraud.
In one instance, Trump supporters even broke into Moss’ grandmother’s home, looking to make a “citizen’s arrest,” Capital-Star Washington Reporter Jacob Fischler wrote Tuesday.
Freeman said the FBI told her that she had to leave her home for her own safety and stayed away for two months to escape the danger, she told the committee in taped testimony.
“It was horrible,” she said.

Oh please. John Micek hates Trump and has been bashing him since at least 2016.
Not sure why you keep posting these politically biased commentaries. They're opinions by liberals and nothing more.
I honestly wonder if you've lost some of your mental faculties. Your behavior is just abnormally odd.
“Liberals don’t want to debate, they don’t want to persuade. They want to censor. They want some higher authority, whether the Supreme Court, Twitter, or corporate America, to declare all views but theirs out of bounds. They don’t want to participate in democratic politics, they want to rule by fiat. For all their wailing about ‘our democracy,’ the last thing liberals want is the actual give and take of a democracy, which usually entails compromise. I think that is the key reason for the Left’s hysteria over Dobbs. For liberals, having to argue, to persuade, to run for office, to participate in the messy work of democracy where you don’t always win, is a step backward. They had everything going their way, and now…this. Viewed in that light, I think the demonstrations, insurrections, encouragement of assassination of Supreme Court Justices, and arson at Christian maternity centers are understandable.”

Fox Host Rips Trump Over Baseless Election Claims
June 27, 2022 at 2:37 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 5 Comments
Fox News host Brian Kilmeade attacked Donald Trump on Sunday and said he has seen no evidence that proves the former president’s claims of election fraud, the HuffPost reports.
Said Kilmeade: “I’ve said this before: I believe from the time when the election results came in until January 6th is the worst moment of Donald Trump’s political career.”
He added: “I think how you lose in life defines who you are. And even if there are things that bother you, welcome to the world. A lot of times times things don’t work out, and are so-called ‘unfair.’ Your team couldn’t prove the vote was rigged, move on.”
Some GOP Donors Sick of the ‘Shitshow’
June 27, 2022 at 6:10 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 42 Comments
“As the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riots lays out Donald Trump’s obsessive efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, Trump allies have responded with the political equivalent of a collective eye roll,” Politico reports.
“But elsewhere in the party, operatives are taking notice. The former president is being damaged, they say — perhaps not fatally, but notably so.”
Said an adviser to Gov. Ron DeSantis (R): “I think the January 6 hearings are continuation of the exhausting circus that surrounds Trump. There are of course the lunchbox Republicans who think this is a ‘mass conspiracy,’ but among the donor class many are just tired of this.”
He added: “It’s a shitshow. Some donors are getting sick of the shitshow.”
Democrats Can’t Rely on the Courts
June 27, 2022 at 6:02 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 28 Comments
From a Wall Street Journal editorial:
“The fury of the left’s reaction isn’t merely about guns and abortion. It reflects their grief at having lost the Court as the vehicle for achieving policy goals they can’t get through legislatures. The cultural victories they achieved by judicial fiat will now have to be won by persuading voters. We understand their frustration, but they ought to try democracy for a change. They might even win the debate over abortion.”
Republicans Downplay Impact of Abortion Decision
June 27, 2022 at 6:01 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 16 Comments
Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK), a former party campaign chief, “said the abortion decision could help Democrats flip one or two seats at most,” Politico reports.
“But he argued it wouldn’t hurt Republicans in other key areas — such as the predominantly Hispanic districts already moving in their direction.”
Said Cole: “It may well hurt us in old Republican suburban strongholds, but those have been slipping away from us for a variety of reasons, gun control among them.”
Democrats Seize on Abortion Ruling in Midterms
June 27, 2022 at 5:59 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 5 Comments
Washington Post: “Democratic strategists argued that such a massive change in the legal landscape will trigger a drumbeat of news coverage as states adapt, keeping the issue front of mind for a sustained period. Some argued it could help the party improve its standing among women, including those in the suburbs who grew frustrated with Democrats over pandemic school closures.”
Said pollster John Anzalone: “If you are in a close race this will be a game changer.”
IT'S BECOMING A DIFFERENT BALLGAME, FOLKS.
Abortion Opponents Consider Their Next Move
June 27, 2022 at 5:57 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 9 Comments
“For the nearly half-century that Roe v. Wade was the law of the land, the most prominent opponents of abortion often urged an incremental approach to narrowing access to the procedure,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
“Now, having achieved a Supreme Court victory that overruled Roe and ended the constitutional right to an abortion, antiabortion advocates are considering what to do next.
“Some powerful voices in the movement urge a measured approach guided by political realities post-Roe, seeking to ban the procedure after the first trimester in more moderate states and maintaining meaningful exceptions for rape and incest. Others view this as a once-in-a-generation moment and moral imperative to push for a complete end to abortion, especially in states where conservatives hold political power. The staunchest opponents want states to treat it as murder.”
Quote of the Day
June 27, 2022 at 5:54 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 5 Comments
“This court has lost legitimacy. They have burned whatever legitimacy they may still have had after their gun decision, after their voting decision, after their union decision. They just took the last of it and set a torch to it with the Roe versus Wade opinion.”
— Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), quoted by USA Today.

The staff described people screaming, crying, and begging for help after being denied abortions.
Johnson Draws Congressman Into Fake Electors Plot

Sen Ron Johnson (R-WI) said last week he “had no hand” in an effort to deliver illegitimate “alternate” Electoral College ballots, but now he says he coordinated the attempted delivery with a Wisconsin attorney and was given the fake electors by Rep. Mike Kelly’s (R-PA) office, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
However, Kelly’s office called Johnson’s allegation “patently false.”
Bannon Calls for ‘Army’ to ‘Shatter’ Democrats
June 27, 2022 at 5:26 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 34 Comments
Steve Bannon called for an “army of the awakened” to “shatter” the Democratic party in post-Roe America, Insider reports.
Said Bannon: “This is the key take-away for MAGA … the pro-abortion movement is shattered and is now turning in on itself — because for 50 years they didn’t have to work— the Courts and Regime Media covered for them — now The Abyss.”
He added: “That’s the Democratic Party in November— we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shatter it into a million small pieces.”
Trump Moved Money From Political Groups To His Business
June 27, 2022 at 5:15 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 10 Comments
“Donald Trump never stopped raising funds from his supporters after the 2020 presidential race,” Forbes reports.
“His companies, meanwhile, continued to charge his political outfits for goods and services. As a result, the former president has been able to convert about $1.3 million of donor money into business revenue since he lost the 2020 election.”
The Fallout from Overturning Roe
June 27, 2022 at 2:43 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 44 Comments
The Economist: “After the fallout of the Supreme Court’s decision, America will be more dangerously divided. In the most doctrinaire pro-life states, the abortion regime will be more austere than that of Pakistan or Saudi Arabia, which permit the procedure to preserve the health, not just the life, of the mother. Democratic-dominated states have codified Roe’s right to abortion up to the point of fetal viability, a more permissive standard that that of Norway and Sweden, which have gestational limits for terminating pregnancies at 12 and 18 weeks, respectively. In four states and the District of Columbia, late-term abortion is legally permissible even if the mother’s health is not at risk. And the war over reproductive rights will heat up rather than cool down.
“Mike Pence, the former vice-president who seems to be contemplating a presidential run, has called for a nationwide ban. In Missouri, doctrinaire legislators are pitching laws to prevent women from travelling out of state for the procedure. Mississippi has passed a law to restrict access to mifepristone—one of the two drugs needed for medically induced abortions, which are now the most common type. Even more creative means to dissuade women from seeking abortions are sure to be devised. The Department of Justice is vowing to fight Republican-led states on these restrictions, auguring even more legal warring.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — A political shift is beginning to take hold across the U.S. as tens of thousands of suburban swing voters who helped fuel the Democratic Party's gains in recent years are becoming Republicans.
More than 1 million voters across 43 states have switched to the Republican Party over the last year, according to voter registration data analyzed by The Associated Press. The previously unreported number reflects a phenomenon that is playing out in virtually every region of the country — Democratic and Republican states along with cities and small towns — in the period since President Joe Biden replaced former President Donald Trump.
But nowhere is the shift more pronounced — and dangerous for Democrats — than in the suburbs, where well-educated swing voters who turned against Trump's Republican Party in recent years appear to be swinging back. Over the last year, far more people are switching to the GOP across suburban counties from Denver to Atlanta and Pittsburgh and Cleveland. Republicans also gained ground in counties around medium-size cities such as Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Raleigh, North Carolina; Augusta, Georgia; and Des Moines, Iowa.

Good.
FUCK Ukraine.
The shift is going away from Republicans.
Democrats are grabbing the Roe reversal as a lifeline ahead of November's midterms. Republicans want to keep talking about inflation.
Why it matters: This is an unusual case where the losing side wants to talk all about it. The winning side wants the spotlight elsewhere.
Axios got a first look at websites that Democrats' House and Senate campaign arms launched Monday — less than 72 hours after the Supreme Court ruling — blasting GOP candidates' abortion records.
Democrats see it as a mobilizing issue for suburban women in swing House districts across the country. The House Democratic (DCCC) site is called "Extreme GOP."The Senate Democrats' (DSCC) site is: "This is the GOP on Abortion."
Republicans know the issue could hurt them with those very same voters, so they will try to keep slamming President Biden on pocketbook issues, Axios' Lachlan Markay reports.
Samantha Bullock of the House Republicans' campaign arm (NRCC) said: "This ruling does nothing to change the fact that voters' top concerns are rising prices, soaring crime, and the disaster at the southern border."
Two polls released in the past 24 hours give Democrats hope the issue will move voters.
A CBS News/YouGov poll of 1,591 adults found 50% of Democrats were more likely to vote based on the Roe ruling, while only 20% of Republicans said the same.In an NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll out this morning (941 adults), 78% of Democrats said the court's decision makes them more likely to vote this fall — 24 points higher than Republicans.

Mobilization matters.
A new poll from NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist finds Americans opposed to the Supreme Court decision to overturn Row v. Wade by a 56% to 40% margin, with a plurality strongly opposed and Democrats getting more energized to vote.
LOL.
The left is so fucking stupid. The USSC has quite literally returned the issue of abortion to "We The People" to decide, and these dumb fucks who love to chant 'This is what democracy looks like!' can't fucking handle...
...democracy.

LOL.
Abortion-rights supporters could take heart over what appeared to be broad public disapproval of Friday’s ruling. A CBS News/YouGov poll conducted immediately after the court handed down its decision shows that Americans considered it a “step backward” for the nation by more than a 20 percentage-point margin.
Nearly 60% of Americans and two-thirds of women disapproved of the ruling, the poll said. Fifty-eight percent said they would approve of a federal law making abortion legal.
And 56% of women said the ruling would make women’s lives worse, according to the poll, far greater than the 16% who said it would improve women’s lives.
Even this November election day could be an epic day.
Republicans like it because it will reverse the replacement theory 🙄.
A nationwide ban would result in a 21% increase in pregnancy-related mortality across the country, but it would be even worse for people of color, with a 33% rise in deaths, according to a study by Amanda Jean Stevenson, an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Colorado Boulder.
“Pregnancy is really quite dangerous,” Stevenson said.
And it’s disproportionately more dangerous for people of color, including Black, Indigenous and Latino people.
An assistant professor of sociology, huh
LMAO

Both Sides Mobilize Over Abortion

The Supreme Court’s abortion decision Friday “has unleashed a frenzy of activity on both sides of the abortion fight, with anti-abortion forces vowing to push for near-total bans in every state in the nation, * and abortion rights groups insisting they would harness rage over the decision to take to the streets, fight back in the courts and push the Biden administration to do more to protect abortion rights,”
the New York Times reports.

* Recent polling indicates that even among Catholics more than half are opposed to a total banning of abortion.

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court on Monday sided with a former high school football coach who lost his job for offering prayers at the 50-yard line after games despite objections from the school district that students felt compelled to take part.
In the latest instance of the nation's highest court backing a religious freedom claim, a majority of the justices said that assistant coach Joseph Kennedy's prayers were a private matter and did not amount to the school district's endorsement of Christianity.
Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote the majority opinion.
"The Constitution and the best of our traditions counsel mutual respect and tolerance, not censorship and suppression, for religious and nonreligious views alike," Gorsuch wrote.

So gloat about our victory, about the victory for what’s right, so that our enemies not only fully understand that they are on the side of the suck but that we are going to utterly defeat them. All their dreams of faculty lounge fascism will die, but it is not enough that we merely defeat them. We must make the rubble bounce. Sociology seeks to be the most objective of all the studies of society:
It does not seek to answer the question, "What is right or wrong?"
but rather,
"What do most people in any given society THINK is right or wrong?"
Nor does it seek to answer the question, "What SHOULD people do?", but rather, "What DO they do in any given situation and, in so far as that is measurable, how does it AFFECT them?"
