Democrats lose hold on minority voters...

A Record Number of Black Republicans Are Running for Office. They're Revolutionizing the GOP
A record number of Black Republican candidates are running for congressional office this year. The National Republican Congressional Committee counted 81 African American candidates running under the GOP banner in 72 congressional districts in 2022. This is more than a 50 percent increase over the 2020 election cycle. And if the GOP knows what's good for it, this will be the start of a new era in right-wing politics.
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) told the Washington Times that having more Black conservatives in the House has helped to inspire more Black voters to give GOP candidates a chance. "They see me. They see Burgess. They saw [Rep. Allen West of Florida]. They saw [Rep. Mia Love of Utah]. They see [Virginia Lt. Gov.] Winsome Sears. They see [North Carolina Lt. Gov.] Mark Robinson," he explained. "And what they say is, 'You know what? Maybe I should step up, too.'"
Recent data shows that Donalds' assessment is spot on: In March, the Wall Street Journal published the results of a poll showing that Democrats were bleeding support among Black Americans. Meanwhile support for GOP candidates in the upcoming congressional elections rose to 27 percent from last November.
Add to this the recent GOP win in a +20 Democratic district with 83% Hispanic voters and you can see that the GOP is making inroads with minority voters. Ironically this is all happening at the exact same time that White liberal elitists are trying to push the narrative that the GOP is racist as a whole.

The reality is that 98% of the population understands that there are fringe groups on all sides of politics that are not good people. Whether that be Antifa or the Proud Boys, these groups represent themselves and not the larger Parties as a whole. In fact, it is accurate to state that the Democrats embrace these sorts of fringe groups to a much larger degree than Republicans do. You won't hear a Republican anywhere defending the Proud Boys, much less setting up a fund to bail them out of jail. But you see Democrats defending Antifa and other domestic terror groups who are fixated on hate.

The question remaining is simple. What happens to the Democratic Party if they lose their control over the minority vote?  How do they get it back when they have no policies in place to do anything but try to stir anger? Do they just push the hateful rhetoric more and more?

Merrick Garland’s Dilemma
June 16, 2022 at 10:42 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 66 Comments

The Economist:
“Whether Merrick Garland might charge him is another matter. While prosecuting hundreds of foot-soldiers of the Capitol riot, Joe Biden’s attorney-general has given no indication that he intends to pursue Mr Trump. A cautious institutionalist, Mr Garland is intent on removing Mr Barr’s taint of politicization from his department. Arresting the previous president would make that hard.

“As Ms Cheney knows, the prospects of blocking Mr Trump electorally are receding. Most Republicans say he won the election and hardly any Republican politician dares say otherwise. On June 14th a Trump-backed primary challenger defeated Tom Rice of South Carolina, making him the fifth of the ten Republican House members who voted to impeach Mr Trump to be pushed out. Mr Trump is the clear favorite to be the Republican nominee in 2024. It is why Mr Garland’s decision looks so important. Yet that will perhaps make him even more reluctant to act.”

HE COULD EXPLAIN WHY IN SUCH A WAY AS TO MAKE TRUMP LOOK EVEN WORSE.

Ginni Thomas corresponded with John Eastman, sources in Jan. 6 House investigation say

June 15, 2022 at 7:19 p.m. EDT

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol has obtained email correspondence between Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and lawyer John Eastman, who played a key role in efforts to pressure Vice President Mike Pence to block the certification of Joe Biden’s victory, according to three people involved in the committee’s investigation.

The emails show that Thomas’s efforts to overturn the election were more extensive than previously known, two of the people said. The three declined to provide details and spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive matters.

The committee’s members and staffers are now discussing whether to spend time during their public hearings exploring Ginni Thomas’s role in the attempt to overturn the outcome of the 2020 election, the three people said. The Washington Post previously reported that the committee had not sought an interview with Thomas and was leaning against pursuing her cooperation with its investigation.

The two people said the emails were among documents obtained by the committee and reviewed recently. Last week, a federal judge ordered Eastman to turn more than 100 documents over to the committee. Eastman had tried to block the release of those and other documents by arguing that they were privileged communications and therefore should be protected.

Thomas also sent messages to President Donald Trump’s White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and to Arizona lawmakers, pressing them to help overturn the election, The Post has previously reported.

While Thomas has maintained that she and her husband operate in separate professional lanes, her activities as a conservative political activist have long distinguished her from other spouses of Supreme Court justices. Any new revelations about Thomas’s actions after the 2020 presidential election are likely to further intensify questions about whether Clarence Thomas should recuse himself from cases related to the election and attempts to subvert it

Why Steve Bannon Is So Dangerous

Charlie Sykes:
“Beyond the grift, the key to understanding Bannon — and his influence on the MAGA right— is recognizing that he’s a revolutionary, who knows he doesn’t need to persuade, and who doesn’t need a majority.
Bannon knows that he just needs a hard-core vanguard willing to do whatever it takes.

“And his goal is to burn it all down.

“This also explains the fundamental asymmetry of our politics. On today’s podcast we discuss whether Bannon is playing checkers while his opponents are playing chess.

“But I suggested a different image: Bannon is bringing an axe to a chess game — and his opponents haven’t figured that out yet, even though he’s told us repeatedly who and what he is.”

Actually that would be illegal, unethical, and a violation of Trump's constitutional rights.

Law enforcement investigators have one place to make a case. That is in court. A police investigator is not allowed to investigate John Smith, come up with nothing illegal... but then hold a press conference saying his investigation showed that Smith was cheating on his wife or going to the track when he said he was going to church.

Prosecutors are only allowed to say anything if they decide to indict and prosecute and then they can only talk about the crime or things that come up in court. They cannot "prosecute" to the press and generally speaking (the Mueller case being an exception) even Special Prosecutors reported 95% of their finding to Congress (and not publicly).

Garland is either going to try to indict Trump or not.

He is not allowed to give political speeches in lieu of a prosecution.

He "might" suggest at some point that he will not file charges, but even that is unlikely. More likely than not he just sits back and does nothing.

January 6 Committee Wants to Talk to Ginni Thomas
June 16, 2022 at 11:54 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), chairman of the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, said the panel plans to invite Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, to be interviewed by the panel, the Washington Post reports.

“The conservative activist was not originally expected to be a focus of public hearings this June. But people involved in the investigation say newly obtained email correspondence between her and White House lawyer John Eastman have revealed that her efforts to overturn the 2020 election were more extensive than previously known.”

Retired judge to warn of Trump's 'well-developed plan' to overturn election

In his testimony before the January 6 committee today, former US appellate court judge J Michael Luttig will warn that the plot to overturn the 2020 election was well-coordinated and threatened the nation’s very existence, according to his opening remarks obtained by CNN.

Luttig is one of two guests in Thursday’s third hearing of the committee, which will focus on Trump’s pressure campaign against vice-president Mike Pence to get him to go along with his plans to stop Joe Biden from taking office.

“The war on democracy instigated by the former president and his political party allies on January 6 was the natural and foreseeable culmination of the war for America,” Luttig warns in his opening remarks. “It was stthe final fateful day for the execution of a well-developed plan by the former president to overturn the 2020 presidential election at any cost, so that he could cling to power that the American People had decided to confer upon his successor, the next president of the United States instead.”

“Had the Vice President of the United States obeyed the President of the United States, America would immediately have been plunged into what would have been tantamount to a revolution within a paralyzing constitutional crisis,” Luttig says.

____

Because it would have gone back to the states and because more states are currently Republican majorities, Donald Trump would be the President of the United States of America.

Here comes another shortage to drive prices higher

Diesel Exhaust Fluid Shortage Affecting Truck Drivers Nationwide

Truck drivers already struggling with extremely high fuel prices are also dealing with more expensive Diesel Exhaust Fluid, which is a key product needed for most everything that runs on diesel.
Truck drivers with newer models must fill up their DEF tank about every other fueling, which is more expensive.

Now, there's a possibility of some shortages, which is adding to the problems.

“We used to spend about $500 a week on fuel, we’re now spending $1,200,” said Larry Miles.

Larry Miles has been driving a truck since 1959.

He now works in the safety department at John Christner Trucking and said the prices of fuel and now DEF are really hurting truckers.

“About every other fueling, you have to duel your DEF tank up," Miles said.

Nearly anything that runs on diesel needs Diesel Exhaust Fluid.

A lot of factors are leading to short supply and high prices, including the war between Russia and Ukraine.

"It uses Urea, which Russia and China are the top two exporters of.”

Urea is also in fertilizer, so with agriculture costs going up, less is going to transportation.

Agriculture teacher Lane Ullrich said his family drives tractors and many farmers are struggling to pay for DEF and diesel.

“You’re spending thousands of dollars a week on diesel," said Ullrich. "That does not include maintenance.”

Because trucks and tractors help supply almost everything, that means the cost of food and supplies is going up.

Miles said it’s scary to see, and it’s forcing smaller trucking companies out of business.

“We just want the freedom to afford to feed out family," said Miles.

Ullrich said keeping people aware of the issues and how it’ll trickle down to each person is the best way to demand change.

“The impact is destroying the industry, but with a solid good company like JCT, we’re striving to go forward," Miles said.

Truck drivers and farmers said this isn't just fuel and DEF prices up.

Everything from oil to antifreeze is increasing too, and it'll keeping coming back to customers.

Ginni Thomas and lawyer who plotted to overturn 2020 vote exchanged emails

The January 6 committee has obtained emails between Clarence Thomas’s wife and John Eastman, according to reports

Martin Pengelly in New York

@MartinPengelly

Thu 16 Jun 2022 11.46 EDT

Ginni Thomas, the rightwing activist married to supreme court justice Clarence Thomas, corresponded with a law professor who advised Donald Trump in his attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

The Washington Post reported that the January 6 committee, preparing for a third public hearing on Thursday investigating the attack on the Capitol, had obtained emails between Ginni Thomas and John Eastman.

The New York Times then reported that emails showed Eastman told a pro-Trump lawyer and campaign officials of a “heated fight” between justices over whether to hear arguments about Trump’s attempt to overturn his defeat, which was driven by his lie about electoral fraud.

The House select committee should subpoena her and her husband should resign.

The committee says it will detail efforts from then-President Donald Trump and his allies before and on Jan. 6 to get Pence to reject electoral votes Congress was certifying -- as part of what it says was a plot to overturn the presidential election.

Here is how the hearing is unfolding:

Thursday’s session is also expected to divulge new evidence about the danger Pence faced that day as the mob stormed the Capitol shouting “hang Mike Pence!” with a gallows on the Capitol grounds as the vice president fled with senators into hiding. Nine people died in the riot and its aftermath.

The panel aims to show that Trump’s pressure on Pence directly contributed to the attack on the Capitol.

“The illegality of the plan was obvious,” the committee said in a court filing against Eastman.

Ahead of the hearing, Pence’s former chief of staff, Marc Short, said his boss was determined to stay at the Capitol that night and finish the job, despite the threats.

Simply look to the J6 Kangaroo Court Clown Car for your answer. Actually it would be a violation of the Fifth amendment, which states that Americans cannot be "held to answer" for any crime unless there is an indictment from a Grand Jury.

So yeah Reverend... that would be a huge problem.

Garland either needs to indict or shut the fuck up about it.

As most "legal" experts have stated... if Garland does not believe he has enough "evidence" to push through anything against Trump - the Jan 6th commission has not provided anything new.

So far it's been political theater to a limited audience. Convincing partisan Democrats that Trump is guilty of something is not a hard task. But if they are really trying to convince Garland to prosecute...

They needed to uncover "evidence" - which in the technical sense of the legal terms that would be required to get a conviction... is not really there. People assuming Trump's state of mind or Liz Cheney concocting a sophisticated 7 point plan that she attributes to Trump might be convincing to you...

But it is not evidence that can be presented at trial.

They can call a million people who claim that they know how Trump felt (for instance) - but none of that testimony would be allowed unless they have Trump actually SAYING something.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House panel investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol said Wednesday for the first time that its evidence suggests crimes may have been committed by former President Donald Trump and his associates in the failed effort to overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

Trump and his associates engaged in a “criminal conspiracy” to prevent Congress from certifying Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the Electoral College, the House committee said in a court filing. Trump and those working with him spread false information about the outcome of the presidential election and pressured state officials to overturn the results, potentially violating multiple federal laws, the panel said.

“The Select Committee also has a good-faith basis for concluding that the President and members of his Campaign engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States,” the committee wrote in a filing submitted in U.S. District Court in the Central District of California.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

These were suggested by the committee in March when it asked a U.S. district court in California to compel Eastman to turn over documents. Trump put Pence in danger 😳 but you don't care

January 6 committee begins third hearing

The January 6 committee has begun its third hearing, which will be focused on efforts to pressure vice-president Mike Pence to overturn the 2020 election.

“We are fortunate for Mr. Pence’s courage. On January 6, our democracy came dangerously close to catastrophe. That courage put him in tremendous danger. When Mike Pence made it clear that he wouldn’t give in to Donald Trump’s scheme, Donald Trump turned the mob on him,” the committee chair Bennie Thompson said in his opening remarks.

As with the prior two hearings, today will include in-person testimony from witnesses along with video clips of interviews with former Trump administration officials and others.

we are coming after you mother fuckers.

Roger Amick uncensored said...

The committee just aired a video intended to show the threats to the vice-president on January 6, beginning with Trump’s speech to supporters who went on to attack the Capitol: “Mike Pence is gonna have to come through for us and if he doesn’t, that will be a sad day for our country.”

The video then shows the crowd breaching the building while chanting “hang Mike Pence!” It ends with the image of a makeshift gallows with a hangman’s noose in front of the Capitol.

“How did we get to the point where President Trump’s most radical supporters with a violent attack on the Capitol and threatened to hang President Trump’s own vice president?” asked California Democrat Pete Aguilar, who showed the video.

Roger Amick uncensored said...

Thompson has sweared in the day’s two witnesses: Greg Jacob, who was Pence’s counsel during his time in office and with him on the day of the insurrection, and J Michael Luttig, a retired judge and informal Pence adviser.

Jacob has given a lawerly assessment of the origins of the theory that Pence had the power to stop Joe Biden from assuming office.

“What you have is a sentence in the constitution that is inartfully drafted,” Jacob said.

“But the vice-president’s first instinct when he heard this theory was that there was no way that our framers, who abhorred concentrated power, who had broken away from the tyranny of George III, would ever have put one person, particularly not a person who had a direct interest in the outcome, because they were on the ticket for the election, in a role to have decisive impact on the outcome of the election.”

“And frankly, just common sense, all confirmed the vice-president’s first instinct on that point. There is no justifiable basis to conclude that the vice-president has that kind of authority,” Jacob concluded.

Luttig, whom committee chair Bennie Thompson described as “one of the leading conservative legal thinkers in the country” reiterated his belief that if Pence had done as Trump asked, it would have been an unprecedented blow to American governance.

“That declaration of Donald Trump as the next president would have plunged America into what I believe would have been tantamount to a revolution within a constitutional crisis,” Luttig said.

Scott, J Michael Luttig is a very conservative lawyer. Look him up

Well one legal scholar suggesting that another legal scholar is wrong...

Does not prove any crimes...

Besides... the only way to know who is right would have been to see this work it's way through the courts and ultimately wait for a USSC decision.

But the hearings are changing minds now.

A third of the Republicans polled in a new survey said they supported the actions of supporters of former President Trump who broke into the Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021.

While the poll by Global Strategy Group found majorities back the Jan. 6 panel and oppose the actions of those who forced the evacuation of Congress in an effort to stop the count of the Electoral College, it also finds a large minority within the GOP backed those rioters.

The findings underscore the divisions within the GOP over Jan. 6 — a battle that likely to shadow election year debates and the early stages of the 2024 presidential race.

A mob of Trump’s supporters that day overran U.S. Capitol Police to enter the Capitol. Some marched across the House and Senate floors as lawmakers were taken to secure locations.

Numerous police officers were injured and five deaths were connected to the riot.

Most Americans clearly do not support those rioting, the poll makes clear.

It found that nearly two-thirds of Americans support the House select committee’s investigation into the Jan. 6 riots and that 71 percent of Americans overall oppose the storming of the U.S. Capitol last year.

If they are still searching for evidence to prove their crime, then I wouldn't hold my breath. It's been 17 months and they have had 17 months to find their evidence.

Less than 24 hours after the GOP flipped a congressional district in South Texas, several Latino Democrats cornered their campaign chief on the House floor with a fervent plea: It’s time for the party to make a crucial course correction.

Republicans blew up more than a century of almost uninterrupted Democratic control in that region Tuesday night, earning a special election win in a heavily Latino border district they had rarely even contested since its creation in 2012 — but where the GOP has made rapid gains in the last few years.

That trend has been on Democrats’ minds since former President Donald Trump cut deep into the party’s margins in the Rio Grande Valley in 2020. But national Republicans poured money into the special election in this 85 percent Latino district from the beginning.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and its allies, meanwhile, only made a small investment at the end, despite requests from members to get involved earlier.

“I hope the DCCC learns their lesson with this before it happens across the country,” said Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, who due to redistricting will face GOP Rep.-elect Mayra Flores this fall in a redrawn district.

Republican Mayra Flores defeated the leading Democratic candidate for an open congressional seat in a historically blue region of South Texas in a Tuesday special election.

Flores, who will be the first Mexican-born congresswoman, garnered about 51% of the vote to top Dan Sanchez, who received 43% of the vote with all precincts reporting.

The seat had been vacated in March by former Democratic Rep. Filemon Vela.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., Flores declared victory at her election party in San Benito, the Texas Tribune reported.

“For over 100 years, we have been taken for granted,” she told her supporters, according to the report. “I will show you what real representation looks like. I will represent all people.”

Sanchez conceded Tuesday night, and blamed Democrats for their lack of support.

“Based on the results, we came up short tonight …” he said in a statement to the Tribune.

“Too many factors were against us, including little to no support from the National Democratic Party and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.”

Another election for the seat will be held in November.

Flores, backed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbot and Senator Ted Cruz., spent over $1 million on commercials for the election while the Democrats decided it wasn’t worth investing in a race that would be up for grabs again in the fall, the paper reported.

President Joe Biden had won the Texas 34th district by just 4 points in the 2020 election.

There was a very recent non-partisan poll that was pretty open ended with no push polling or funny worded questions...

At the end of the day, the people were more interested in the lack of security, possible instigators, FBI involvement, and preventing future occurrences... than they were interested in investigating Trump's role.

At the end of the day... Trump's role is all that the Jan 6th commission is dealing with and why it has been a complete flop. They have not spent one minute dealing with that the non-left partisan Trump haters want to see them look into.

We will have 64 hearings, 2056 sworn statements, 459 interviews....

And not one thing will be about why the police were understaffed, why the National Guard was not there, why security warnings to Congress were not provided to the Capitol law enforcement, whether or not there were paid agitators, what presence the FBI had, etc....

and that is why it fails!

Eastman attended the meeting between the two leaders, and Jacob said the lawyer presented Pence with two options available to him on January 6.

“One of them was that he could reject electoral votes outright,” said Jacob, who was Pence’s counsel at the time and attended the meeting along with Pence’s chief of staff Marc Short and, briefly, Trump’s chief of staff Mark Meadows.

“The other was that he could use his capacity as presiding officer to suspend the proceedings and declare essentially a 10-day recess,” Jacob said.

During that period, “states that he deems to be disputed — there was a list of five to seven states that the exact number changed from conversation to conversation — but that the vice-president could issue a demand to the state legislatures in those states to reexamine the election and declare who had won each of those states,” Jacob said.

Eastman “did not recommend what he called the more aggressive option” of rejecting the electoral votes entirely “because he thought that that would be less politically palatable,” Jacob said.

While he wouldn’t discuss what he heard Trump and Pence speak about, Jacob said the vice-president rejected Eastman’s argument. “The vice-president never budged from the position that I have described as his first instinct, which was that it just made no sense from everything that he knew and had studied about our Constitution, that one person would have that kind of authority.”

Pence is a great American man

Washington — The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol turned its attention to former President Donald Trump's campaign to pressure former Vice President Mike Pence to reject electoral votes on Thursday, hearing testimony from close Pence aides who said the president's efforts to overturn the 2020 election were nonsensical and "un-American."

"Mike Pence said no. He resisted the pressure. He knew it was illegal, he knew it was wrong," Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson said to open the third day of hearings examining the Capitol attack. "We are fortunate for Mr. Pence's courage on January 6. Our democracy came dangerously close to catastrophe."

Two Pence advisers appeared in person at Thursday's hearing: Greg Jacob, Pence's former counsel, and J. Michael Luttig, a highly respected conservative jurist and retired federal judge who advised Pence in the aftermath of the 2020 election. The committee also showed taped footage of interviews with Pence chief of staff Marc Short and other aides.

The testimony made clear that Pence and his closest aides repeatedly told Trump and his allies that a theory pushed by conservative lawyer John Eastman, who argued the vice president should single-handedly reject or replace slates of electors, had no basis in the Constitution or federal law. The committee presented evidence that Eastman himself knew the plan violated the law.

But Trump continued to pressure Pence to intervene in the run-up to Jan. 6, including at a one-on-one meeting the night before. Pence's aides said the president's insistence pushed the country to the brink of a constitutional crisis.

This will never change your mind Scott.

But Eastman admitted his plan violated the law.

This was bombshells
