How you know that the partisan Jan 6th commission is missing the boat!

Their top target should not be Trump hating Democrats, but rather Independents who will decide the next couple of elections...

So technically the role of trained agitators comes out ahead of Trump incitement on the list of things that people want investigated. Adding it all together, over 50% of Independents don't seem to think that alleged Trump incitement should even a major concern for the committee...

Yet, that is all they are covering. We have nothing about trained agitators (nor will we). We have nothing about why there was a lack of law enforcement (nor will we). Nothing at all but Trump, Trump, Trump and more Trump.

“[T]his is a signature move by Speaker Pelosi,” Turley explained. “I was highly critical during the impeachment hearings. When in the hearing I testified on with Trump, the House leadership decided to forgo any investigation in the Judiciary Committee, the calling of essential witnesses. And then, in the second impeachment, she did one better — did a snap impeachment with no hearings at all. And this is a fairly common process by the speaker. She muscles through to make sure that she gets the conclusion she wants.”

“But I’m not too sure she is going to get the conclusion she wants,” he added. “I mean, she may be singing to the choir on this one. When people view this and say … there’s really not another side. It’s not another side as to maybe the riot was good. The other side is more what was the cause? What should be the focus? Should we be spending as much time looking at security? And the other thing that comes out of this hearing is that there is a lot of really brave and courageous figures here — Bill Barr being one of them. The system actually worked to some extent, but it depends who you’re trying to convict, and I think that so far, they’re trying to convict Donald Trump of being a terrible person.”

and why didn't he bring in the National Guard to enforce order.

And how many times do we have to plow THIS ground?

Jurisdiction rested with the Speaker and the DC Mayor. Period, full stop.

Peloshee was briefed on the threat and chose to do nothing, probably hoping that a protest would occur, a protest she wanted it to occur.

Well No Reverend...

That is still about "TRUMP" and has nothing to do with reality.

The real questions would be why did Nancy Pelosi turn down National Guard heal multiple times? Why was Chuck Schumer warned that there was a strong possibility of a riot, but the Capitol police were not warned?

Also... why was there less than normal Capitol police there? Why did none of them have any riot gear? Why were many of the best trained for riots not there?

You seem to forget one obvious reality.

Capitol complex security is not a President's responsibility.

Capitol complex security is Congress's responsibility.

You cannot even "blame" the correct people for the fact that they were not prepared. That preparation is entirely on Congress and the local DC authorities...

Doesn't matter to them that Security was Congress's responsibility or that the National Guard is under DC (or Virginia) control depending on which National Guard you call.

Not to mention that Presidents are generally not allowed to call Federal Troops in for domestic threats... and certainly would have no emergency ability to do so for a riot that started around 1:30 and was over and done by 6:00 that evening.

It still has to be Trump's fault!

TLS Leads you to disagree with Bill Barr who said
"He's become detached from reality if he really believes this stuff," Barr said he was thinking. "There was never an indication in interest in what the actual facts were."

Barr also mentioned -- and laughed at -- the movie "2,000 Mules," a conspiracy-laden film by conservative activist Dinesh D'Souza that Trump has encouraged supporters to watch.

"I felt that before the election, it was possible to talk sense to the president. And while you sometimes had to engage in, you know, a big wrestling match with him, that it was possible to keep things on track. But I felt that after the election he didn't seem to be listening," Barr told the committee. "And I didn't think it was -- you know -- that I was inclined not to stay around if he wasn't listening to advice from me or the Cabinet secretaries."

Unfortunately millions of people like you exist in this era

Roger Amick uncensored said...

And Vox and Bill Barr explain why even you should change your mind...

As time went on, Trump became “detached from reality”

Barr, along with other administration officials, described playing “whack-a-mole” with Trump’s false claims of fraud.

Every time one false claim was dispelled, they said, the former president would bring up another. Aides repeatedly intervened to tell Trump that he had lost the election, and described taking each claim seriously, investigating it until they had the facts and reporting back to Trump. Former acting Attorney General Richard Donoghue described one meeting during which Trump seemed to accept the gathered evidence, but for each conspiracy theory aides were able to explain away, he had another he’d latch onto.

Barr described one popular conspiracy theory around the 2020 election, that it had been rigged by voting machine malfeasance, as “idiotic.” Other Justice Department officials testified that they repeatedly insisted to Trump that other conspiracy theories around the election were simply “not true,” including viral claims of ballot box stuffing in Georgia promoted by Giuliani or Trump’s false claims of “big massive dumps” of illegal votes.

Essentially, the committee suggested, Trump knew or should have known that his lies about the election were, as Barr put it, “bullshit.” But he repeated them anyway, which helped lead to the violence on January 6.

And ✔️ one more on the ballot harvesting boxes you actually believe.

BJay Pak, the former U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, who was appointed by Trump and resigned two days before the January 6 insurrection, described how his office investigated how a doctored video clip – purporting to show a stash of ballots being taken from under a table and mingled with other ballots – was false. He testified: under oath!

“Unfortunately, during the [Georgia] Senate hearing, Mr. Giuliani only played a clip that showed them pulling out the official ballot box from under the table and referring to that as a smoking gun of fraud in Fulton County. But, in actuality, and review of the entire video, it showed that was actually an official ballot box that would [properly be] kept underneath the tables. And we saw them pack up because [of] the announcement that they thought they were done for the night. And then once the announcement was made that you should continue counting, they brought the ballots back out and they continued to count… The FBI interviewed the individuals that are depicted in the videos, that purportedly double, triple counting of the ballots, and determined that nothing irregular happened in the counting and the allegations made by Mr. Giuliani were false.

Unfortunately you believe that the FBI is a deep state associated organization.

Fact check: Trump repeats false claim that Pelosi rejected request for National Guard ahead of Jan. 6
McKenzie Sadeghi
USA TODAY

The claim: Nancy Pelosi rejected Donald Trump's request for 10,000 National Guard troops to be deployed before Jan. 6

As a House committee continues its investigation into the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and former President Donald Trump goes on a speaking tour, debunked narratives about the deadly insurrection are resurfacing on social media.

Reports show military and law enforcement officials were unprepared and slow to respond to the riot. Trump has repeatedly attempted to blame that on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., claiming she rejected his request to deploy 10,000 National Guard troops to the Capitol ahead of his “Stop the Steal” rally.

Trump’s claim is one of many efforts by Republicans and supporters of the former president to shift blame and downplay the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol that resulted in four deaths and led to more than 600 arrests.

“Trump Says Pelosi Turned Down His Request For 10,000 National Guard Troops For Jan. 6 Rally…!!!” reads the caption of a Dec. 13 Facebook video that accumulated more than 4,000 views within a couple days.

The video included in the post shows Trump speaking to a crowd on Dec. 11 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he claimed he recommended 10,000 National Guard troops be deployed because he knew the crowd size was going to be "enormous."

“I recommended 10 but I said do whatever they want, they’re running the Capitol, they know what they’re doing,” Trump says in the video. “And the Capitol police knew about it, she (Pelosi) knew about it, and they turned it down because they said it didn’t look good.”

But Trump’s claim was debunked by fact-checkers in March, after he first made the statement during a Fox News appearance, and it’s still not true. There is no evidence Trump made any formal request about deploying 10,000 National Guard troops before the rally.

USA TODAY reached out to Trump’s spokesperson and the Facebook page that shared the video for additional comment.

NO RECORD OF THE REQUEST
A government memo about the events leading up to Jan. 6, statements from Pelosi’s office and the Pentagon and testimony from the former House sergeant-at-arms show Trump did not request 10,000 troops ahead of the rally.

Drew Hammill, Pelosi's spokesperson, told USA TODAY that Pelosi’s office was not consulted or contacted regarding any request for the National Guard ahead of Jan. 6, and he noted the speaker of the House does not have the power to reject that type of request.

Claims that Pelosi was in charge of Capitol security on Jan. 6 have been previously debunked by USA TODAY. The Capitol Police are overseen by the Capitol Police Board and committees from the Senate and House of Representatives.

Fact check:
Post falsely claims Pelosi is blocking Capitol Police officers from testifying

Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby had previously looked into Trump’s claim and told The Washington Post in March that “we have no record of such an order being given.”

A timeline from the Department of Defense only mentions an agreement made on Jan. 4 about potentially providing 340 District of Columbia National Guard members at the request of D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser to support traffic control points and to deploy a quick reaction force “if additional support is requested by civilian authorities.”

Additionally, when asked by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, during a Feb. 23 Senate hearing if discussions took place on Jan. 4 with congressional leadership about bringing in the National Guard, former House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving said he "had no follow up conversations."

"It was not until the sixth that I alerted leadership that we might be making a request," Irving said. "And that was the end of the discussion."

More: Capitol riot misinformation persists: False claims continue to circulate on Facebook

While Trump never formally requested 10,000 National Guard troops, then-acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller told Vanity Fair that Trump brought up the figure in conversation on the night before Jan. 6.

Our rating: False
Based on our research, we rate FALSE the claim that Pelosi rejected Trump's request for 10,000 National Guard troops to be deployed before Jan. 6. Pelosi's office said the speaker was not contacted about deploying the National Guard prior to the rally, and the Pentagon has previously stated that there is no record of the request. A timeline from the Department of Defense about the events leading up to Jan. 6 does not include any mention of a request for 10,000 National Guard members. The former House sergeant-at-arms said he did not have any discussions with congressional leaders about the National Guard until the day of the riot.

Today, Republicans have almost entirely shunned the Jan. 6 committee, and the Republican National Committee has described as “legitimate political discourse” the mob action that included smearing interior surfaces of the Capitol with feces. Furthermore, the comportment of senators of both parties during televised confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominees indicates that many people now in Congress are incapable of disinterested inquiries. Americans, numbed by the dregs of U.S. society behaving badly in high political offices, will not pay protracted attention to the committee.

Still, the committee can usefully provide testimony about how on that day the president — surrounded by lickspittle mediocrities and allied with many such in both houses of Congress — reaped what he and they had sown: chaos. But the committee’s first, most important and sufficient task is to show what happened.

Video cameras are ubiquitous: Even the rioters carried smartphones as well as stupid banners. Today, most people absorb most of what they learn about public matters from pictures. By disseminating the graphic record of Jan. 6, the committee can serve the nation by deepening its embarrassment, which is a necessary first step toward the recovery of its dignity...

You have no dignity anymore

I never stated that Trump offered Pelosi National Guard Troops...

In fact, I have been quite consistent in stating that Trump (as President) does not have real authority to deploy National Guard for domestic reasons (at least not without some sort of National Emergency - which cannot be predicted in advance).

There was discussions within Congress about bringing in troops. This was well known. Pelosi and gang did not like the "optics" of calling in National Guard troops at the same time they were pushing the defunding of the police.

So please pay attention.

Trump did not offer Pelosi Troops.

Trump told his advisor that he believed that they "needed" 10,000 troops. That is a fact. But that is not a request... BECAUSE HE HAD NO AUTHORITY TO MAKE SAID REQUEST.

Pelosi could have had National Guard had she wanted them.

Schumer and Congress was made aware of the possibility of a riot....

They never brought this to the attention of the Capitol police (who they work with to protect their Capitol complex) you know... like Secret Service protects POTUS and the White House.

You wouldn't expect Pelosi or Schumer to call on the Secret Service if there was a threat to the White House? Why would you believe that the White House has authority over Congress and their security?

January 6, 2021: The attack on the U.S. Capitol begins.

At 1:49PM, Trump tweets a link to a video of his remarks at the Ellipse.

At 2:24PM, Trump tweets: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Trump is reportedly “initially pleased” by events as he watches them unfold, and “disregard[s] aides pleading with him to intercede.”

According to a close adviser of the president, “rather than appearing appalled, Trump was voraciously consuming the events on television, enjoying the spectacle and encouraged to see his supporters fighting for him.”

According to Republican Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska,White House aides say that President Trump is “DELIGHTED,” while “walking around the White House confused about why other people on his team [ARE]N’T AS EXCITED.”

President Trump INITIALLY REBUFFS AND REFUSES REQUESTS TO MOBILIZE THE D.C. NATIONAL GUARD. Eventually, the Guard is mobilized after an order from Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy and acting Defense Secretary Christopher C. Miller. VICE PRESIDENT MIKE PENCE APPROVE THE ORDER and the Guard is deployed.

Republican House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy demands that Trump make a statement denouncing the rioters. HE REFUSES, leading to a “SCREAMING MATCH” between the two men.

Ivanka Trump, the President’s daughter and advisor, tweets (and later deletes) a call for the violence to end, but addresses the tweet to “American Patriots,” earning swift backlash.

At 2:38 PM, President Trump tweets, “Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!”

A person familiar with discussions about what the president should tweet told the Washington Post that Trump had resisted adding the final sentence, “Stay peaceful.”

At 4:17 PM, President Trump releases a recorded statement on Twitter, reiterating his claims of a rigged election but telling the rioters that “You have to go home now, we have to have peace … We love you, you’re very special.”

At 6:01 PM, Trump tweets, “These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long. Go home with love & in peace. Remember this day forever!”

Detached from reality.

The one big theme on the second day of hearings by the Jan. 6 committee was that former President Trump was told repeatedly — including by his own attorney general — that his “big lie” about a fraudulent election was baseless. But he made the fake claim on election night anyway, and hasn’t stopped since.

As they did during the opening hearing, committee members used video testimony from some of Mr. Trump’s closest friends and advisers — including blunt comments from former Attorney General William P. Barr — to show that the president must have known that his claims were baseless.

Here is one of takeaways from the second day of the hearings.

Trump was described as ‘detached from reality’ after the election.

Mr. Barr’s video testimony was some of the most compelling of the morning, with the former attorney general describing Mr. Trump as increasingly “detached from reality” in the days after the election.

For the imbeciles among us -

Congress and D.C. city officials, not Donald Trump, were responsible for protecting the Capitol: It is the primary duty of the Capitol Police board—made up of the sergeant-at-arms for the Senate and the House and the architect of the Capitol—to secure the sprawling complex. The federal police force, with a budget of more than half a billion dollars, employs at least 2,000 officers and houses numerous bureaus, including an intelligence unit; the Capitol building should have been well-protected on January 6 during a controversial joint session of Congress with Vice President Michael Pence presiding.

But Paul Irving, Nancy Pelosi’s sergeant-at-arms at the time, and Michael Stenger, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s sergeant-at-arms, repeatedly denied requests by the Capitol police chief for extra help days before the Capitol protest. As the chaos unfolded that afternoon, Irving and Stenger continued to delay numerous pleas to deploy the National Guard. Although more than 1,000 guardsmen were stationed at the D.C. armory on the morning of January 6, they were not summoned to the Capitol complex until well after 5:00 p.m.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser also refused to activate a significant number of guardsmen on January 6. Instead, Bowser authorized a few hundred guardsmen for traffic and pedestrian control. D.C. Metro police officers arrived at the Capitol shortly after the joint session convened at 1:00 p.m.

It does not appear that the January 6 select committee has interviewed Irving, Stenger, or Bowser. (Irving and Stenger conveniently resigned on January 7; Irving refused to testify before the Senate committee investigating the “attack.”) In addition, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) has announced Pelosi’s records related to January 6 were “off-limits.”

Committee members and the media insist Trump bears some culpability for lax security on January 6; according to Kash Patel, chief of staff for the acting secretary of defense during the final weeks of the Trump Administration, the president on January 4 authorized the use of 20,000 guardsmen. But the activation of those troops would have required a formal request by either Capitol Police or Bowser’s office

And contrary to another widely-accepted narrative, Capitol police at several vantage points allowed protesters into the building and, without warning, the building was closed.

Really.

So I suppose you'll be letting us know exactly which statute or law Trump violated by being ‘detached from reality’ after the election.

Sounds serious, alky.

The Democrats hold impeachment trials and lawless hearings based on complete fabrications the likes of which Joseph McCarthy would never have dreamt possible. They arrest and imprison their political opposition in purges that would make Mao and Stalin proud. Their courts have become a breeding ground for kangaroos and corruption. All this and more while the American people watch on in stunned disbelief.

Donald Trump did not lose the election in 2020. Many of us knew this immediately. We witnessed the fraud firsthand as insurmountable leads disappeared in minutes. We needed no further proof but it has been forthcoming anyway. With the release of Dinesh D’Souza’s film “2000 Mules,” there can be little doubt left in anyone’s mind that there was an organized effort to steal the election. Only if you don’t want to believe it could you ignore all the evidence.

Elections are the lifeblood of our wounded and faltering system of government. Every other year we hear the stale old reminders about how important a particular election is but this year is different. This 2022 election is, without a doubt, the most important of our lives. It will decide the future of elections and their relevance. The future of liberty. There have been some reforms, in some states, to the voting process but the primary method of fraud—the mail-in ballot—is still in place.

We are told repeatedly that there is a red wave coming and that the Republicans will take back the house. Only if we ignore the media and all the talking heads in Washington can we hope to make this wave a reality and turn it into a tsunami. Complacency and optimism are our enemies. We must not only win fair and square but also overcome all the fraud that is surely going to play a part in this election. We must turn out in numbers that will leave no doubt. Only then will we be able to once again “breathe the free air” and begin the long process of renewal.

Jan. 6 panel gets caught spreading a whopper worthy of Russia collusion, Biden laptop

Capitol police chief says there is 'no evidence,' as Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney alleged, that a GOP lawmaker ran a reconnaissance mission for Jan. 6 protesters

The Donald Trump era has brought countless examples in which Democrats, bureaucrats, and the establishment news media wove a sensational tale that turned out to be false.

There's the Russia collusion caper that wasn't, the 51 security experts who wrongly claimed Hunter Biden's laptop was misinformation, the Ukraine quid-pro-quo call that had neither a quid nor a quo, and the Moscow bounties on U.S. troops' heads that never happened.

Now the Jan. 6 panel — led in part by the Russian collusion advocate Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif. — has been called on the carpet for falsely suggesting a GOP lawmaker ran a reconnaissance mission inside the Capitol for Jan. 6 protesters the day before the riot.

Ironically, the man who blew that whistle is the new Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger, who got his job on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's watch but handed Republicans vindication on an allegation they long claimed was a smear.

Manger wrote in a letter Monday to Congress, which Just the News obtained, that an exhaustive review of security footage found no evidence that Republican Rep. Barry Loudermilk of Georgia did anything other than give constituents a tour of some congressional office buildings.

In fact, the chief said, the congressman didn’t even enter the U.S. Capitol with the group.

“There is no evidence that Representative Loudermilk entered the U.S. Capitol with this group on January 5, 2021,” Manger wrote in a letter to Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Ill., the ranking Republican on the House Administration Committee. “We train our officers on being alert for people conducting surveillance or reconnaissance, and we do not consider any of the activities we observed as suspicious.”

Jan. 6 committee chairman says panel won’t refer Trump for criminal charges

The chairman of the House committee investigating the U.S. Capitol riots said Monday evening that the panel will not refer former President Donald Trump or anyone else to the Justice Department for criminal charges.

Rep. Bennie G. Thompson, Mississippi Democrat, said the sole aim of the committee’s investigation is to “tell the facts,” not solicit criminal prosecutions.

“If the Department of Justice looks at it, and assume that there’s something that needs further review, I’m sure they’ll do it,” he said.

Barr recalls being concerned Trump had become ‘detached from reality’

The committee played a video of Trump’s former Attorney General Bill Barr recalling his December meeting with Trump after he told a media outlet that there was no evidence of election fraud.

“The president was as mad as I’ve ever seen him, and he was trying to control himself,” Barr recalled. Trump said, “‘You didn’t have to say this, you must’ve said this because you hate Trump."”

“I thought, boy, if he really believes this stuff, he has lost contact with — he’s become detached from reality,” Barr said, adding, “There was never any indication in interest in what the actual facts were.”

“I felt that before the election, it was possible to talk sense to the president. And while you sometimes had to engage in, you know, a big wrestling match with him, that it was possible to keep things on track. But I was — felt that after the election he didn’t seem to be listening,” Barr recalled. “And I didn’t think it was—you know, that I was inclined not to stay around if he wasn’t listening to advice from me or the Cabinet secretaries.”

Death Toll Rises: Man Dies Of Heart Attack Year-And-A-Half After Eating Corndog At January 6 Riot

U.S.—The death toll is continuing to rise in connection with the devastating January 6th riots, as one of the attendees has died of a heart attack a year-and-a-half after he was pictured eating a corndog there.

"Over a year after this horrific attack on our holy democracy, the catastrophic death toll continues to rise," said Congressman Adam Schiff. "The death of Bob Billings of a massive heart attack after eating one of the artery-clogging corndogs sold at the Capitol Riot again reminds us of how deadly and dark this dark-deadly day was. That must be, like, a thousand dead now. Those of us still here are lucky to be alive."

Congress is investigating more charges that can be brought against Trump in connection with Billings' death, in addition to the other casualties—such as those who got in car accidents on the way home from the rally, those who died of January 6th-connected myocarditis, and those who died of heartbreak due to Biden being inaugurated.

"It may be many years before we really know the true death toll of January 6th, but you can be sure we will continue to talk about it until it no longer effectively raises campaign funds for us," said Schiff.

At publishing time, Congress announced the additional January 6th death of a protestor who claimed to have dirt on Hillary Clinton.

Excluding food, energy and trade, so-called core PPI rose 0.5% on the month, slightly below the 0.6% estimate but an increase from the 0.4% reading in the previous month. On a year-over-year basis, the core measure was up 6.8%, matching April’s gain.

The two PPI measures remained near their historic highs — 11.5% for headline, and 7.1% for core, both hit in March.

The data is significant in that prices at the wholesale level feed through to consumer prices, which are running at their highest levels since December 1981. The consumer price index increased 8.6% annually in May, defying hopes that inflation had peaked in the spring.

Federal Reserve officials are watching the inflation numbers closely. Markets now expect the central bank to raise benchmark short-term borrowing rates by 75 basis points when their two-day meeting concludes Wednesday.

We will see tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s January 6 Hearing Postponed
June 14, 2022 at 9:36 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 76 Comments

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) said that tomorrow’s January 6 Committee hearing will be postponed due to “technical issues,”
Punchbowl News reports.

The next hearing will be on Thursday.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol has postponed a hearing that was to feature Trump-era Justice Department officials.

The hearing had been set for Wednesday, but the committee on Tuesday morning said that it had been postponed. It did not give a reason or a new date for the hearing.

The next hearing is set to take place on Thursday.

The witnesses at Wednesday's hearing were to include Jeffrey Rosen, who was the acting attorney general at the time of the Capitol insurrection, as well as two other former top officials, Richard Donoghue and Steven Engel. Lawyers for all three men did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

They were expected to testify about a tense Jan. 3, 2021 meeting at the White House in which then-President Donald Trump weighed whether to replace Rosen with a lower-ranking official, Jeffrey Clark, who had expressed a willingness to champion Trump's bogus claims of voting fraud. Trump abandoned the idea when multiple Justice Department and White House lawyers told him that they would resign if that happened.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

We shall see what the polls say 😏

Max Boot: “I admit to having been skeptical, ahead of time, of the hearings planned by the House select committee investigating the events of Jan. 6, 2021. What more is there to be said, I wondered? The evidence of Donald Trump’s guilt in inciting an insurrection was already so obvious that it was hard to imagine that the committee would have much to add. This was not, after all, a situation such as Watergate, where the scandal happened behind closed doors. The entire nation saw Trump’s incendiary remarks and tweets, and the riot that followed, on national television.”

“I am happy to say I was wrong. The committee’s hearings are exceeding expectations, because it is not behaving like a typical congressional committee. There is no grandstanding and no preening. There are no petty partisan squabbles. There is not even the disjointedness that normally occurs when a bunch of politicians are each given five minutes to question each witness. There is only the relentless march of evidence, all of it deeply incriminating to a certain former president who keeps insisting that he was robbed of his rightful election victory.”

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

If Trump Wasn’t Lying, THAT’S WORSE

William Saletan:
“On Monday, the House January 6th Committee presented evidence that Donald Trump, after losing the 2020 election, promoted allegations of voter fraud that his own advisers had told him were false.

"According to the committee, this evidence proves he was lying.

“But the evidence actually points to a different conclusion:
Trump wasn’t lying in the way that other presidents have done.
He was simply impervious.
He refused to accept unwelcome facts.
And that degree of imperviousness
in a president,
is much more dangerous than dishonesty.”

______

FOR IT SHOWS HOW SIMILAR TRUMP IS TO HITLER.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Max Boot sums it up like I have been saying for years now

Barr’s statement was seen by some lawyers as evidence of the “criminal intent” that would be needed to convict Trump of crimes such as sedition. Whether that is accurate or not, Trump’s own aides have made an open-and-shut case that he is not fit to run Mar-a-Lago, much less the United States of America. Either Trump is spectacularly delusional or spectacularly dishonest. Take your choice. Or maybe he’s both? Whichever the case, he has no business returning to the nation’s highest office.
