Why Cassidy Hutchinson’s Testimony Was Rushed

July 10, 2022 at 6:35 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 4 Comments

New York Times: “At Ms. Hutchinson’s deposition the next day, committee members investigating the attack on the Capitol were so alarmed by what they considered a clear case of witness tampering — not to mention Ms. Hutchinson’s shocking account of President Donald Trump’s behavior on Jan. 6, 2021 — that they decided in a meeting on June 24, a Friday, to hold an emergency public hearing with Ms. Hutchinson as the surprise witness the following Tuesday.”

“The speed, people close to the committee said, was for two crucial reasons: Ms. Hutchinson was under intense pressure from Trump World, and panel members believed that getting her story out in public would make her less vulnerable, attract powerful allies and be its own kind of protection. The committee also had to move fast, the people said, to avoid leaks of some of the most explosive testimony ever heard on Capitol Hill

What makes memory care different?
Memory care is designed to provide a safe, structured environment with set routines to lower stress for people with Alzheimer's or dementia. Employees provide meals and help residents with personal care tasks, just like the staff at an assisted living facility, but they are also specially trained to deal with the unique issues that often arise as a result of dementia or Alzheimer's. They check in with residents more frequently and provide extra structure and support to help them navigate their day.

Many people diagnosed with Alzheimer's can live on their own during the early stages of the disease, especially if a family member or paid caregiver provides regular, in-home support. But there may come a time when your loved one needs more care than you feel you can provide at home. Here are some questions to help you determine if it's the right time for a move.

“In regular assisted living, residents are expected to manage their own time; menus and mealtimes are posted, but staff is not checking in on them,” Carnarius says. “In memory care, the staff ensures residents are getting to meals, coming to activities and moving on to the next thing.”

Because people with dementia are prone to wander (6 in 10 do so, according to the Alzheimer’s Association), memory care facilities have alarmed doors, elevators that require a code, and enclosed outdoor spaces to keep residents on site. Many offer tracking bracelets that give residents the freedom to explore but still allow staff to monitor their location.

Activities are designed to improve cognitive function and engage residents at different stages of the disease.

You left some very important things off your list, Scott aka Ch:

Trump making it clear that he WANTED armed followers on the Ellipse

Armed followers he would later send to march to the Capitol and fight like hell

Trump felt that Pence's death would be something he deserved

Trump was encouraging witness tampering

Trump told officials simply do declar the election fraudulent and he and his supporters would take care of the rest

Oh, and I forgot to mention the several people who were asking Trump for pardons because they knew they had taken presecutable actions for him.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

You really don't care about anyone other than Trump but he caused this

As one of the Capitol Police officers who defended the United States against the mob on Jan. 6, 2021, I felt it was important for me to be in the committee room on June 28 to hear the former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony. Along with three colleagues, I went, even though I knew it would be difficult to relive the horrors I witnessed. Although I experienced firsthand the brutal onslaught of the insurrectionists, I was shocked to hear Ms. Hutchinson explain the extent to which former President Donald Trump incited the people who almost killed me.

I am an immigrant from the Dominican Republic, a U.S. Army veteran and a sergeant who has worked on the force for 16 years, but I’ve never witnessed anything like the Jan. 6 attack — even in combat in Iraq. I was sure I was going to die that day, trampled by the hordes of President Trump’s supporters trying to stop the official transfer of power on his behalf.

Ms. Hutchinson, the former aide to Mr. Trump’s chief of staff Mark Meadows, testified that her boss said that things could get “real bad” on Jan. 6 and that Mr. Trump was warned that members of the crowd that had amassed were armed. Of course, I never would have imagined that an American president would not only not come to the aid of law enforcement officers defending the Capitol but encourage that crowd to march on it. Instead of being notified about the danger, my colleagues and I were kept in the dark, and thus walked into an ambush unprepared.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

I don’t know what part of Ms. Hutchinson’s testimony enraged me most: that Mr. Trump wanted to be driven to the Capitol to lead the vicious riot, that he’d spurred his supporters on knowing they were armed, or that he ignored some of his advisers and even his daughter who told him to call it off, allegedly fighting with his own Secret Service agent after he refused to let the president be driven there.

Or maybe it was the fact that Mr. Trump eventually told the rioters who’d criminally assaulted my colleagues and me while trying to bring down the U.S. government: “Go home. We love you. You are very special.”

Other disturbing details I heard at the hearing had to do with Mr. Trump’s apparent disregard for everyone but himself. Before Mr. Trump addressed his supporters on the Ellipse, ahead of the insurrection, he was told that those who were armed weren’t being let through security checkpoints and, according to Ms. Hutchinson’s testimony, he said, “I don’t effing care that they have weapons. They’re not here to hurt me.”

Later, when rioters breached the Capitol, according to Ms. Hutchinson’s testimony, the former White House counsel Pat Cipollone told Mr. Meadows that they had to go see the president about what was happening. Mr. Meadows’s response was that Mr. Trump “doesn’t want to do anything,” Ms. Hutchinson recalled. Mr. Cipollone replied, according to Ms. Hutchinson: “Something needs to be done or people are going to die and the blood’s going to be on your effing hands.”

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The nine people who died as a result of that horrific day — including the four officers who died by suicide after the attack — weren’t so lucky. Neither was I. At the West Front of the Capitol, I was attempting to hold a tactical police line along with about 60 members of my team, as we were taught at the academy, to keep the invaders at bay. We were savagely beaten and easily overpowered. I would later learn that the mob was estimated to be 10,000 strong.

It was like a medieval battleground. With our lives in peril, I would have been justified in using lethal force. But I didn’t want to spark a massacre. Over the course of the five-hour struggle, my hands were bloodied from being smashed by a stolen police baton. My right foot and left shoulder were so damaged that I needed multiple surgeries to repair them. My head was hit with such force with a pipe that I no doubt would have sustained brain damage if not for my helmet.

I have spent a year and a half in physical therapy for chronic pain that I have been told will never go away. My young son almost lost his father and my wife had to quit medical school, owing to the stress and demands of my ongoing recovery.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

After the riot, I received a Congressional Gold Medal and was recently named a Great Immigrant by the Carnegie Corporation. After recently passing the lieutenant’s test, I hoped to be promoted. Instead, on the day of Ms. Hutchinson’s testimony, I was heartbroken to hear my doctors tell me that at 43, I should no longer work with the police force.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The physical and emotional damage I sustained on Jan. 6 not only cut short my career, it has upended my life. Five of my colleagues in law enforcement died and more than 850 rioters were arrested. So many families have been ruined because of one man’s lust for power.

Even more galling are the Republicans who still refuse to provide testimony under oath and instead dangerously downplay how close we came to losing our democracy. I applaud the courage of the witnesses who’ve come forward to tell the truth. I know from personal experience — I have given testimony several times about that day to Congress, to the F.B.I. and in court — how distressing it can be. I just wish we all had been able to testify sooner, right after Jan. 6, when we might have had more impact.

The enabling of Mr. Trump needs to stop now. He should not only be banned from running for any other government office, he should never be allowed near the White House again. I believe he betrayed his oath to defend the Constitution, and it was to the detriment of me, my colleagues and all Americans, whom he was supposed to protect.

Biden Hits New Low, Crashes to 29 Percent Approval in CIVIQS Poll

Joe Biden’s presidency is foundering. Poll after poll shows astonishing numbers of Americans believe the country is on the wrong track. AP: 85 percent wrong track; Gallup: 87 percent wrong track; Monmouth: 88 percent wrong track.

Now comes news Biden has crashed though the 30 percent approval barrier in the daily CIVIQS tracking poll, hitting a new low of just 29 percent approval by registered voters.
Biden’s disapproval remains at his record high of 58 percent where it has been for nearly the past two weeks. A gender gap of nine points is keeping Biden afloat, barely. 25 percent of men approve of Biden while 34 percent of women approve Biden.

The CIVIQS poll is 50 states of bad news for Biden. He is below fifty percent approval in every state and ‘above water’ in just two: Hawaii (46-41) and Vermont (43-40).

No other state has Biden above 38 percent approval while a majority have his approval in the teens and twenties. The lowest approving state for Biden is Wyoming at 16 percent. Good luck there, Liz Cheney!

Party ID approval for Biden is a dismal 63 percent among Democrats and one percent among Republicans. Biden’s approval by independents is back to his low among that group at 19 percent.

Roger and James, an easy question.
How does Biden get out of the 🔥 Flaming Dumpster that is his Presidency?

"President Joe Biden’s approval rating dropped into the 20s for the first time in his presidency, a Saturday Civiqs poll revealed.

Just 29 percent of voters approve of Biden, while 58 percent disapprove. Only 19 percent of independents approve of Biden. Sixty-seven percent disapprove. Among Hispanics, just 36 percent approve. Forty-eight percent disapprove."

Analyst explains why members of Congress should be held accountable just like the Oath Keepers they inspired

Sarah K. Burris

July 10, 2022

The House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on Congress and attempt to overthrow the election announced on Sunday that they would have Oath Keepers spokesperson Jason Van Tatenhove testify at the Tuesday public hearing.

"It is critically important that this witness is there, testifying to the really national network of players and people, that not only pushed Jan. 6th forward but have continued to keep up this kind up this white supremacist fervor for a long time," said Brittany Packnett Cunningham, Campaign Zero co-founder and MSNBC analyst. "These are the kind of folks that people should be paying attention to, at the local level, and the state level, as well as the federal level, not just for what they did on Jan. the 6th, but also, for what they could do, moving forward."

She explained, however, that it can't only be up to the rank-and-file members of the Oath Keeper and other militia groups who made Jan. 6 happen, but those elected officials who pushed the lie that the election was fraudulent and inspired people to attack Congress.

"The folks in power, people are sitting in positions, members of Congress, and people at the highest levels need to be held accountable for this," said Cunningham. "And look at Josh Hawley, and Lauren Boebert, and Victory for White Life, Barry Miller, and they're still making laws for this country. Those folks who stormed the Capitol on the 6th would not have been there, had it not been for those members of Congress and other powerful representatives, telling them lies, and stoking the very deepest white supremacist fears. So, we have to make sure that the Oath Keepers, as they're held accountable, that those in power are as well, otherwise, we'll see this happen all over again."

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The upcoming televised hearing Tuesday by the Jan. 6 panel will explosively expose Donald Trump’s White House meeting in 2020 with “Team Crazy” that began to set in motion the violence of last year’s insurrection, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) said Sunday on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”

Raskin called Trump’s Oval Office huddle on Dec. 18, 2020, with his former attorney Rudy Giuliani, wild conspiracy theorist lawyer Sidney Powell, and extremist retired Army Gen. Michael Flynn the “craziest meeting” of his entire presidency.

The trio and other outside lawyers — derided as “Team Crazy” in and around the White House, said Raskin — urged several new courses of action, including the “seizure of voting machines around the country,” he explained.

Two nights before supporters of President Donald Trump were set to march on the Capitol, Stephen K. Bannon was working to get the head of the Proud Boys out of jail.

The leader of the far-right extremist group, Enrique Tarrio, was arrested by D.C. police that night for burning a church’s Black Lives Matter banner during a demonstration the month before. When Bannon heard the news, he started making calls to help Tarrio post bail.

“We put calls out last night trying to put bail up for the guy,” Bannon said the next morning on his “War Room” podcast. “It’s just not acceptable.”

In an interview with The Washington Post, Bannon said he was later waved off helping the Proud Boys, though he declined to specify who had done so. “They said they were all whack jobs so don’t get involved,” he said. Bannon also denied any direct contact with Proud Boys or Oath Keepers, the other extremist group charged with seditious conspiracy in planning the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

Even the hill

On Tuesday

The House committee investigating last year’s Capitol rampage will soon turn its gaze to the role played by far-right extremists, examining not only the influence of nationalist networks in carrying out the attack but also what coordination, if any, the Trump White House had with those groups leading up to the violence.

The panel’s investigators have already teased the potential connection between former President Trump and the ring-wing extremists who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, using last month’s public hearing with a former West Wing aide to suggest direct links between some of Trump’s closest allies and leaders of several prominent nationalist groups now accused of spearheading the attack.

Heading into the next hearing on Tuesday, members of the panel are already promising to reveal previously undisclosed information they say will substantiate those ties.

“We will be connecting the dots, as people know,” Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), a member of the select committee, told MSNBC on Thursday. “This wasn’t just an event that unfolded. It was planned. Who did the planning, and who were they connected with? How did it unfold?”

The cast of characters the committee has already implicated in the scheme to overturn the election results reads like a who’s who of Trump’s inner circle.

It includes John Eastman and Rudy Giuliani, two legal advisers to the former president who set up a “war room” at a Washington hotel on Jan. 5; Michael Flynn and Roger Stone, two allies in the “Stop the Steal” movement who were indicted for unrelated crimes but pardoned by Trump; and Mark Meadows, Trump’s former chief of staff who was acting as a liaison between Trump and the other four men, according to Cassidy Hutchinson, a former senior Meadows aide who testified before the select committee on June 28.

On the periphery were the extremist groups, including the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, that gathered in Washington on Jan. 6 as part of Trump’s effort to overturn his election defeat.

The lines between the two worlds form a complex matrix, and the committee has not yet demonstrated direct connections between the Trump confidantes and the extremist groups that were on the front lines of the violence at the Capitol.

Yet Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), a constitutional lawyer who sits on the select committee, has promised to dig into those associations when he leads the questioning, along with Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-Fla.), at Tuesday’s hearing. And outside experts who monitor hate groups are eager to see what turns up.

“If coordination did exist, what form did it take? Who were the conduits for information?” said Cassie Miller, senior research analyst at the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks extremist groups of all stripes around the country.

“But we should also recognize that formal coordination wasn’t necessary for Trump to impact the actions of groups like the Proud Boys during the months leading up to the insurrection or during the day itself,” Miller quickly added. “This is a group that has long wanted to act as the foot soldiers for Trumpism, and the Stop the Steal movement and insurrection gave them the opportunity to do so.”

Some connections between Trump’s associates and the far-right groups had been established long before the select committee began a series of public hearings last month.

Both Flynn and Stone, for instance, have long been known to use security details provided by far-right groups, including the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and 1st Amendment Praetorian, which had protected Flynn during an election protest in Washington in mid-December. Stone had rallied with Proud Boys leaders, including Chairman Enrique Tarrio, at a similar protest the same month and was reportedly protected by members of the Oath Keepers at the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The committee will expose it to the public.

The president himself had all but circled it on the nation’s calendar.

“Big protest in D.C. on January 6th,” Mr. Trump tweeted on Dec. 19, just one of several of his tweets promoting the day. “Be there, will be wild!”

A direct connection between The Proud Boys and Oath Keepers and the President at the time, will be exposed

Former President Donald Trump’s attorney Justin Clark interviewed with federal investigators two weeks ago, the Justice Department revealed in a court filing early Monday morning, a significant development that could reverberate in multiple investigations facing Trump’s inner circle.

DOJ prosecutors revealed the June 29 FBI interview in a court filing connected to the criminal contempt case of Steve Bannon, who is set to go on trial July 18 for defying a subpoena from the Jan. 6 select committee. After stonewalling the committee for eight months, Bannon reversed course on Saturday, suggesting Trump had “waived” claims of executive privilege and permitted him to testify. Trump signed a letter supporting Bannon’s reversal and claimed to “waive” executive privilege over Bannon’s testimony.

THERE ARE MANY MORE REASONS WHY TRUMP MUST GO

Some Trump Aides Now Keep Their Distance
July 11, 2022 at 7:29 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 16 Comments

“Key players in former President Trump’s last campaign have quietly distanced themselves from the president, raising real questions about who would staff his campaign as he edges closer to a bid for reelection in 2024,” The Hill reports.

Paul Ryan Sobbed During Capitol Riot
July 11, 2022 at 7:26 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 33 Comments

Former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) was “sobbing” as he watched the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol unfold on television, a new book reports,” according to CNN.

Ryan said he’s not much of a crier, but “something snapped in him” as he watched the Capitol attack.

Trump’s Lawyer Is Talking to the Feds

July 11, 2022 at 6:34 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 14 Comments

“Former President Donald Trump’s attorney Justin Clark interviewed with federal investigators two weeks ago, the Justice Department revealed in a court filing early Monday morning, a significant development that could reverberate in multiple investigations facing Trump’s inner circle,” Politico reports.

“DOJ prosecutors revealed the June 29 FBI interview in a court filing connected to the criminal contempt case of Steve Bannon, who is set to go on trial July 18 for defying a subpoena from the Jan. 6 select committee. After stonewalling the committee for eight months, Bannon reversed course on Saturday, suggesting Trump had ‘waived’ claims of executive privilege and permitted him to testify. Trump signed a letter supporting Bannon’s reversal and claimed to ‘waive’ executive privilege over Bannon’s testimony.

“But Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda Vaughn said that Clark had confirmed in his June 29 interview what DOJ long suspected: that Trump had NEVER invoked executive privilege to block Bannon from testifying.”

Congress Returns for Final Summer Sprint
July 11, 2022 at 7:48 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Congress returns on Monday with Democrats aiming to revive central pieces of President Biden’s stalled economic agenda while trying to keep on track a separate, bipartisan bill targeted at boosting competitiveness with China that top Republicans are threatening to block,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“House Democrats also are set to roll out legislation responding to the Supreme Court ruling ending federal abortion protections. The push could include legislation to write into law the right to an abortion before fetal viability, as well as a bill intended to block any state attempts to criminalize travel for the purpose of getting an abortion. The bills wouldn’t have enough support to pass the Senate.”

Biden Attacks Republicans for Blocking His Agenda

President Biden uncharacteristically slammed Republicans on Twitter last night:

“Republicans are doing nothing but obstructing our efforts to crack down on gas-price gouging, lower food prices, lower healthcare costs, and hopefully, soon, lower your prescription drug costs.

“This is not right. And that’s why this election is going to be so darn important.”

Most Democrats Don’t Want Biden to Run Again
July 11, 2022 at 6:43 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 53 Comments

A new New York Times/Siena poll finds 64% of Democratic voters saying they would prefer a new standard-bearer in the 2024 presidential campaign.

Biden’s approval rating is a dismal 33%.

“Widespread concerns about the economy and inflation have helped turn the national mood decidedly dark, both on Mr. Biden and the trajectory of the nation. More than three-quarters of registered voters see the United States moving in the wrong direction, a pervasive sense of pessimism that spans every corner of the country, every age range and racial group, cities, suburbs and rural areas, as well as both political parties.”

CNN: As worries about Biden in 2024 grow, other Democrats aren’t stepping forward to challenge him.

Taegen Goddard says:
These numbers are absolutely terrible for Democrats.

House GOP Marches Into Deeper Blue Terrain

Politico: “Biden’s toxicity has given the GOP optimism about seriously contesting a fresh crop of about a dozen seats that the president won in 2020 by 9 points or more — from western Rhode Island to California’s Central Valley to the suburbs of Arizona’s capital.

“The result is a House map that has expanded to an uncomfortable place for Democrats. Survey data obtained by Politico shows the president underwater by double-digit margins in 11 districts he carried.”

ALL THINGS CONSIDERED, I AM THINKING BIDEN MAY NOT RUN AGAIN.

After members of the far-right Oath Keepers extremist group stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan 6, 2021, their leader called someone on the phone with an urgent message for then-President Donald Trump, another extremist told investigators.

While gathered in a private suite at the Phoenix Park Hotel, an Oath Keeper member says he heard their leader, Stewart Rhodes, repeatedly urge the person on the phone to tell Trump to call upon militia groups to fight to keep the president in power.

“I just want to fight,” Rhodes said after hanging up with the person, who denied Rhodes’ appeal to speak directly to the Republican president, court records say.

Federal prosecutors have not said who they believe Rhodes was speaking to on that call, which was detailed in court documents in the case of an Oath Keeper member who has pleaded guilty in the riot. An attorney for Rhodes says the call never happened.

One hundred years from now, historians will be looking back and calling this the Age of Trump, for Donald Trump has as much clout today in America that only the most notable presidents in American history have ever seen. He could become a seminal figure in American history on a par with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

It was the providential hand of the Lord that allowed him to win an upset victory in 2016. Trump prevailed in doing what he promised against much opposition as well. And the Lord may not be done with him yet. Assuming Trump remains healthy and is reelected in 2024, he will likely be the most prominent political figure in America for a span equal to that of Franklin Roosevelt.

The Democrats could have been done with Trump in eight years, but no, they had to steal an election and expose their corruption to the entire world. And that corrupt image is personified in Joe Biden.

Sometimes a loss can be a blessing in disguise. In contrast to a narrow Trump win in 2020 and contentious and belligerent fights overturning stolen elections in court, the prospect for both Trump and the Republican party looks bright. The stolen election was providential in exposing the Democrats for the frauds they are, which the people can plainly see.

If the Democrats steal another election, they will call him the worst President in history.

We must use every method to preserve our history. Even our second Amendment Rights.

Strong majority of Democratic voters want party to nominate someone other than Joe Biden for president next time - poll

Joe Biden’s approval rating has been struggling mightily for a year and the US president’s popularity is now shockingly low even among his own supporters across America, with 64% of Democratic voters saying they want someone else to be the party’s presidential nominee in the 2024 election, according to a new opinion poll carried out by the New York Times and Siena College and published by the newspaper this morning.

It describes Biden “hemorrhaging support” amid a bleak national outlook on life and politics, and only 26% of Democratic US voters telling pollsters that they want the party to renominate the current president to run for a second term.

The results make shocking and grim reading for the White House this morning.

The report laments a “country gripped by a pervasive sense of pessimism” and notes that voters across the nation gave the president a dismal 33% approval rating amid, overwhelmingly, concern about the economy.

More than 75% of registered voters think the US is “moving in the wrong direction” with a pessimism that “spans every corner of the country, every age range and racial group, cities, suburbs and rural areas, as well as both political parties,” the NYT reports.

Only 13% of American voters said the nation was on the right track — the lowest point in Times polling since the depths of the financial crisis more than a decade ago.

Biden had earlier as the presidential nominee signaled that he regarded himself as preparing the way for a new guard of Democratic leaders, but since he became president and has been pressed on whether he would seek a second term he has repeatedly said he would.

At 79 he is the oldest US president in history and, alarmingly, the Times reports that among Democratic voters under the age of 30, a staggering 94% would prefer a different presidential nominee for their party going into the 2024 presidential election.

Three quarters of voters surveyed said the economy was “extremely important” to them but only one percent think that current economic conditions are excellent.

Trump’s ‘Hub and Spoke’ Conspiracy
July 11, 2022 at 11:15 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Andrew Weissmann:
“The hearings should inspire the Justice Department to rethink its approach: A myopic focus on the Jan. 6 riot is not the way to proceed if you are trying to follow the facts where they lead and to hold people ‘at any level’ criminally accountable, as Attorney General Merrick Garland promised.

“The evidence gathered in the hearings describes a multiprong conspiracy — what prosecutors term a ‘hub and spoke’ conspiracy — in which the Ellipse speech by President Trump and the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol were just one spoke of a grander scheme.

“This broader approach would avoid the thorny debate that has emerged as to whether Mr. Trump could be criminally culpable for inciting the riot during his Ellipse speech, or if, on the contrary, his speech is protected under the First Amendment and the evidence too ambiguous to justify the extraordinary step of indicting a former president. Building a criminal case that looks solely at the riot itself is far more complex legally and factually for those who weren’t at or in the Capitol. These challenges of the current bottom-up approach have led to criticism of the slow pace of the narrow Justice Department approach.

“Instead, what the hearings have revealed is evidence of a plot orchestrated by Mr. Trump and his allies in the White House and elsewhere — including players from the Mueller investigation like Roger Stone, Michael Flynn and Rudy Giuliani as well as new players like Jeffrey Clark and John Eastman.”
