Europe observation

Watching the local news along with the BBC... it would certainly appear that the European press takes our President more seriously than our media does.

Of course they take Trump more seriously. Trump's international mistakes will have a more significant, and immediate, impact on other nations than they will on most U.S. citizens. And they have less ability to oppose Trump than U.S. citizens do.

They were just talking about his meeting with top business leaders (pointing out his expertise as a businessman himself). Previously watched a segment about how rich China had gotten off their favorable trade agreement with the United states and the impact of Trump renegotiating it. Had another segment on the improvement of our markets. Etc...

Not saying they like him, but objectively they admit he is doing things that help America.

There's a lot of Truth in this.

Turns out Obama was the real Russian stooge

The circumstantial evidence is mounting that the Kremlin succeeded in infiltrating the US government at the highest levels.

How else to explain a newly elected president looking the other way after an act of Russian aggression? Agreeing to a farcically one-sided nuclear deal? Mercilessly mocking the idea that Russia represents our foremost geo-political foe?

Accommodating the illicit nuclear ambitions of a Russian ally? Welcoming a Russian foothold in the Middle East? Refusing to provide arms to a sovereign country invaded by Russia? Diminishing our defenses and pursuing a Moscow-friendly policy of hostility to fossil fuels?

All of these items, of course, refer to things said or done by President Barack Obama.

Where has that "Russia Cheated Hillary out of the US Presidency" story gone to?

Thanks Jane, without you I am sure I would have missed this outstanding quote.

why focus only on his mistakes? how about his successes? one things for sure - they're going to know exactly where he stands on an issue, like it or not. and for the first time in 8 years american interests will actually come FIRST. so yeah, i suppose that could be a little unsettling and might take some getting used to. tough shit.

trump's predecessor bowed before and kissed every ass on the fucking planet.

those days are over.

if you have to take the quote out of context to make your point, that makes you a liar AND a pederast...

“When we talk about MS-13 and the cartels, what do we mean? We mean criminal organizations that turn cities and suburbs into warzones, that rape and kill innocent citizens, and who profit by smuggling poison and other human beings across our borders,” Sessions said in prepared remarks to Customs and Border Protection officers. “Depravity and violence are their calling cards, including brutal machete attacks and beheadings.”

Speaking in Arizona, Sessions added, “It is here, on this sliver of land, where we first take our stand against this filth. In this fight, I am here to tell you, the brave men and women of Customs and Border Protection: we hear you, and we have your back.”

FBI obtained FISA warrant to monitor former Trump adviser Carter Page

The FBI obtained a secret court order last summer to monitor the communications of an adviser to presidential candidate Donald Trump, part of an investigation into possible links between Russia and the campaign, law enforcement and other U.S. officials said.

The FBI and the Justice Department obtained the warrant targeting Carter Page’s communications after convincing a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court judge that there was probable cause to believe Page was acting as an agent of a foreign power, in this case Russia, according to the officials.

This is the clearest evidence so far that the FBI had reason to believe during the 2016 presidential campaign that a Trump campaign adviser was in touch with Russian agents. Such contacts are now at the center of an investigation into whether the campaign coordinated with the Russian government to swing the election in Trump’s favor.

Page has not been accused of any crimes, and it is unclear whether the Justice Department might later seek charges against him or others in connection with Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election. The counterintelligence investigation into Russian efforts to influence U.S. elections began in July, officials have said. Most such investigations don’t result in criminal charges.

The officials spoke about the court order on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss details of a counterintelligence probe.

During an interview with the Washington Post editorial page staff in March 2016, Trump identified Page, who had previously been an investment banker in Moscow, as a foreign policy adviser to his campaign. Campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks later described Page’s role as “informal.”

Page has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in his dealings with the Trump campaign or Russia.

The FISA court found "probable cause" to issue the warrant for Page's connections between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign. This could be a nuclear explosion or just another day, if they didn't find anything verifiable that there was contact.

The White House, FBI and Justice Department declined to comment.

The judges who rule on Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) requests oversee the nation’s most sensitive national security cases, and their warrants are some of the most closely guarded secrets in the world of U.S. law enforcement and intelligence gathering. Any FISA application has to be approved at the highest levels of the Justice Department and the FBI.

Comey has declined to discuss the details of the Russia probe, but in an appearance last month, he cited the process for getting FISA warrants as proof that the government’s surveillance powers are very carefully used, with significant oversight.

“It is a pain in the neck to get permission to conduct electronic surveillance in the United States. And that’s good,’’ he told an audience at the University of Texas in Austin. This doesn't prove that the Trump Tweet Storm. It makes it far less likely. Wire tapping a opposing political campaign would never meet the "probable Cause".

Three years before Page became an adviser to the Trump campaign, he came to the attention of FBI counterintelligence agents, who learned that Russian spy suspects had sought to use Page as a source for information.

In the secret tape, Pobodnyy said he liked the man’s “enthusiasm” but planned to use him to get information and give him little in return. “You promise a favor for a favor. You get the documents from him and tell him to go f--- himself,’’ Pobodnyy said on the tape, according to court papers.

Page has said the information he provided to the Russians in 2013 was innocuous, describing it as “basic immaterial information and publicly available research documents.” He said he had assisted the prosecutors in their case against Evgeny Buryakov, who was convicted of espionage.

This looks like it's well researched and carefully written. This might just be the final nail in Trump Presidency Coffin. We shall see.

So what's the American interest in a tipped-off missile attack on a Syrian airfield, Rat? Attacking Syria is what Trump campaigned against. What's the policy this supports? It doesn't support defeating the Islamic State, which is something Trump claims to support.

I think PNC nailed it when he said all this does is show Trump has a dick.

If true, it means that he's guilty of collusion with Putin. Impeachment would be appropriate, not hero worship as you always do with his bath water to make your morning coffee. Read it, actually READ it, instead of letting Breitebart or one of the other wing nut sites twist it and you are gullible enough to do that. Even Drudge wen "OOOO"

Nevermind that killing a bunch of Russians and Syrians would essentially sstart WWIII with Russia....

Honestly, I'm surprised anyone still questions the multiple reasons for the strikes...

"The Syrian government would be ill-advised ever again to use chemical weapons" - General Mattis

Seems clear to me.

seems clear to anyone looking at it objectively. but for those who must find fault, it's not that simple.

the purpose of the strike was to send a message. those finding "no strategic value" in the strike are simply setting fire to their own strawman. i will give them the benefit of the doubt to the extent that it's been so long since we've had a decisive leader after 8 years of a feckless, preening coward, that it might take a while to ramp up to the idea that we just might regain our standing in the world.

and to me, it's less important that trump ordered the strike, it's more important that a true military professional - mattis - was there to oversee it.
