Why do you support the Antifa?

We live in a country now where the freedom to speak is no longer considered a constitutionally protected practice anymore. At least not if your names is Milo, Coulter, Shapiro, etc...

We live in a country where the freedom to assemble is no longer considered a constitutionally protected practice anymore. At least not if your group hold conservative, religious, or libertarian views.

The reality is that we have a new group of people who wear masks, hoods, and preach hatred and violence... and it would appear that the left absolutely adores them. These are people who roam around the country attempting to use violence and the threat of violence to shut down the view points of people they disagree with.

These actions are supported 100% by Democrats, liberals, and the media. I have no idea why.

I state this for the record:

I can never, in good conscience, support (even tacitly) the actions of a group of people who use violence and the threat of violence to shut down the free speech of people they do not agree with. I will not ignore them or their actions, because someone else may offend me more. I will not be "shamed" into supporting their actions for any reasons.

I will stand by these convictions...  and if you don't like it.. then you can go fuck yourself.

What Trump has done, is to give a moral equivalency to a two sided argument, on issues long ago decided. This is dangerous coming from the President. It will lead to increasingly violent behaviour, on both sides.

His campaign, had a foundation built on birtherism. A deeply emotional argument to those who were uncomfortable with the changes in the country. Built upon the racist beliefs by the election of the first African American President.

He knows exactly what he's doing, and is deeply dangerous, conning from the President.

For those who wondered where this comes from, is me and me alone. :-)

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

This is dangerous coming from the President. It will lead to increasingly violent behaviour, on both sides.

My deepest hope is that the Republican Party that are true Americans not racist and haters that like the people that Donald Trump appeals to, will start the movement to remove this man from office. Otherwise we may face an increasingly dangerous and violent country for the next unknown number of years.I don't want to see that at all. It is not based on fear or hatred, because I don't want to see this country break up and start killing each other and large numbers because of the moral equivalence of two sided issues long ago decided, turn into armed battles.

C.H. Truth said...

Roger -

This is simple. There were multiple people committing acts of violence.

The only way anyone is "enabled" to continue to commit acts of violence, is if we simply refuse to acknowledge and condemn that specific violence.

Seems to me that there isn't anyone (including the President) that didn't condemn the violence from the white supremacists.

But there are a whole lot of you out there... that apparently believe that the Anitfa is justified in committing their violence.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Charles Krauthammer on Fox News yesterday gave a very negative review of the comments by the president at his press conference. It absolutely demolishes the argument made by our host. George Will has made similar comments and several others.

Many thoughtful, experienced and conservative Republicans now know that they made a deep mistake of allowing this man to run under their party label.

C.H. Truth said...

Moreover...

It WILL be the Antifa who will continue to engage in violence, as they did the very next day after Virginia... when they engaged in confrontation with the Seattle police attempting to prevent a peaceful assembly that they had labeled to be "fascist".

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Given the fact that he built the foundation of his campaign upon birthism, a deeply racist belief. He is not stupid and he used that to get the support of those people who were uncomfortable with the election of Barack Obama. That's a fact.

Hillary Clinton ran a terrible campaign and that is her own problem but we have a president that has a deep hatred of other races and used that to get himself elected as a front. He convinced many others that he was not, but he is deeply racist at his core beyond any reasonable doubt and you better f****** believe it for the first f****** time in your f****** pathetic little lives. Or we can see the deepest and dangerous era since the Civil War. And I have to thank the city of Baltimore that removed all statues of the heroes of the Confederacy over the night.

I have come to understand the reluctance to remove the statues but because of the emotional issues raised by the fact that the Civil War was deeply based upon slavery that the African American population and myself just don't think that should be in memorialized any City at all.

Trump Goes Off the Rails Again

Playbook: “Remember all the bluster that recently named chief of staff John Kelly was going to install order and help get Trump’s presidency back on track so Republicans could make good on their promises to pass tax reform and an infrastructure package, not to mention fund the government and raise the country’s borrowing limit? No dice. White House aides we talk to were surprised this happened, but have grown immune to the president’s unpredictability. Many are dispirited.

“This was a news conference aimed at boosting an infrastructure bill — Trump’s best chance of bipartisan legislating for the year. Instead, he did this. Remember that there are just four-and-a-half months left in this year, and there’s a lot the president wants to get done.

“How much sway is the president going to have with lawmakers as he is saddled with a 34-percent approval rating coming off playing footsie with neo-Nazi and white-supremacist groups?”

US military leaders are distancing themselves from Trump's Charlottesville rhetoric

President Donald Trump's military leaders have roundly rebuked the deadly violence that unfolded at a rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, last weekend.

"No place for racial hatred or extremism in @USMC," Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Robert Neller tweeted, hours after Trump's press conference on Tuesday. "Our core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment frame the way Marines live and act."

The US Navy's senior military officer weighed in on Saturday, the same day the three fatalities were confirmed in the aftermath of the rally: "Events in Charlottesville unacceptable & musnt be tolerated @USNavy forever stands against intolerance & hatred," Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson tweeted.

The official Twitter account for the 82nd Airborne Division, one of the US Army's renowned infantry units, addressed an image of a man who wore a hat bearing the division's emblem while rendering what appeared to be a KKK salute.

The image has since been retweeted about 30,000 times since Saturday, and circulated across military groups in social-media channels.

"Respectfully, anyone who thinks this man represents our culture and values has never worn the maroon beret...and never will," the 82nd Airborne Division tweeted, referring to the man in the photo.

"Our WWII Airborne forefathers jumped into Europe to defeat Nazism. We know who we are. We know our legacy.

"Anyone can purchase that hat. Valor is earned," the 82nd Airborne Division continued.

The military leaders' response to Charlottesville stood in contrast to Trump's, who initially blamed "many sides" for the violence that erupted on Saturday.

Trump made a follow-up statement days later that specifically called out white supremacist hate groups that organized the event, but during a freewheeling press conference on Tuesday, Trump returned to his original position, labeling multiple parties as complicit in the Charlottesville unrest, and seeming to defend some of the alt-right figures who were there.

That move has prompted fierce rebukes from Republicans and Democrats, who have condemned Trump and the white nationalist figures who praised his remarks on Tuesday.

Trump has lauded the US military throughout his campaign and early presidency, and polled favorably among service members during the beginning of his first term.

However, his support from the military appeared to wane in recent months, according to a Gallup poll in May where Trump's approval and disapproval ratings dropped to 43% and 52%, respectively. Trump's overall approval hit a new low of 34% on Tuesday, according to a Gallup daily tracking poll.

President Trump on Tuesday said "there is another side" to the violence in Charlottesville, specifically calling out the "alt-left."

"What about the alt-left that came charging at, what you say, the alt-right?" Mr. Trump asked. "Do they have any semblence of guilt? What about the fact they charging with clubs in their hands, swinging clubs, do they have any problem? I think they do."

What is the "alt-left"? Let's start with the basics.

What is the "alt-left"?
It's the group Mr. Trump is partly blaming for the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend. Except it's not really a group, and more of just an epithet that's gained currency in some conservative and liberal circles to describe leftists, particularly "Antifa" groups that sometimes skirmish with right-wing demonstrators.

Is it like the "alt-right"?
The term "alt-right" was coined by the white supremacist Richard Spencer, who used it to describe people like himself. The alt-right is a loosely defined movement that rejects traditional conservatism and typically embraces a white supremacist viewpoint.

Abruptly but unsurprisingly, on Tuesday afternoon, he doubled back to his original stance and again blamed “both sides.”

On one side, you see, you have white nationalists and neo-Nazis carrying assault weapons and advocating for a white, Christian, fascist ethno-state in America. On the other side, you have people who would prefer not to be systematically exterminated. Both are equally bad! To put it another way, on one side, you have the guy who law enforcement officials say deliberately ran a woman over with his car and the people who are celebrating her death. On the other, you have the woman who got run over by the car. Both are to blame! (By the way, if you are a good liberal grousing about how some anti-fascists are “just as bad” as fascists, you are riding Trump’s wake on this logical highway.)

Trump disbands White House business councils as CEOs flee
Michael Isikoff 6 minutes ago

President Donald Trump listens to Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, left, to business during a strategy and policy forum in the State Dining Room of the White House in Washington, DC on Friday, Feb. 03, 2017. (Photo: Jabin Botsford/The Washington Post via Getty Images)
As CEOs of major corporations began fleeing President Trump’s two business advisory councils yesterday to protest his remarks on the neo-Nazi violence in Virginia, Trump disbanded both groups.

“Rather than putting pressure on the businesspeople of the Manufacturing Council & Strategy & Policy Forum, I am ending both. Thank you all!” Trump tweeted.

A few minutes earlier, the 16 remaining members of the “Strategy and Policy Forum” had unanimously voted to disband, in an emergency conference call convened by its chairman, Stephen Schwarzman, chairman of the investment firm Blackstone Group and one of Trump’s biggest Wall Street supporters. The call was demanded by members of the group who were deeply upset about Trump’s comments at a Tuesday press conference about Charlottesville. Of the 19 business leaders who had been originally named to the group, three had already quit over Trump’s positions on climate change or immigration.

After the political failure of Obama, the collapse of Hillary, the cannibalism visited on Bernie and his followers, it’s apparent that the American left is a spent force, and this kind of political kabuki is all that remains for them.

Clearly, the left has failed in the U.S., as they have everywhere else. Their plans have proved empty, their carefully structured systems have ossified to the point of paralysis, their pleas and promises are mere repetitions of rhetoric that was old in the 1930s. They have nothing to offer except violence, hatred, and eventual extinction. But they can still do a lot of damage as they go down the chute, keeping in mind that their descent may involve a process lasting decades.

They seem to be aware of this, and eager to carry out as much havoc as is humanly possible. This is very likely the plan for November 4th.

Unless something changes, we can look forward, at the very least, to mobs in the streets, assaults by black-clad masked goons, shops destroyed, cars overturned and set ablaze, everything that we’ve seen recently in Berkeley, Ferguson, and Baltimore. Supported as it is by the media, academic, and entertainment spheres, and with the people supposedly “in power” showing no awareness that any of the sort is happening (can anyone picture Ryan or McConnell actually responding to this?), it will continue until an end is put to it – very likely by a jaw-dropping episode of violence.

Trump's Council of CEOs Disbands Following Remarks

“President Trump’s relationship with the American business community suffered a major setback as the president was forced to shut down his major business advisory councils after corporate leaders repudiated his comments on the violence in Charlottesville this weekend,” the Washington Post reports.

“A slew of corporate chieftans announced they were resigning from the councils in recent days after they said Trump was slow to condemn white supremacy groups.”

Mike Allen reports the group disbanded itself and the decision was made quickly, according to one executive: “Given the comments of the last several days, no one could continue to be seen as supporting this kind of divisiveness.”

Someone said...

“The white supremacist, KKK, and neo-nazi groups who brought hatred and violence to Charlottesville are now planning a rally in Lexington. There are no good neo-nazis, and those who espouse their views are not supporters of American ideals and freedoms. It was McConnell's attempt to strike a middle ground. The potential cost of Trump's incendiary remarks is real. And perhaps few understand how far the nation and his party have come than McConnell, who was also present both for Lyndon B. Johnson’s signature of the Voting Rights Act and Martin Luther King’s iconic “I Have a Dream Speech."

The restraint highlights the GOP's Trump dilemma: Republicans are searching for ways to distance themselves from the president without personally taking on a president who remains popular in many GOP-dominated states.

“Every member I’ve talked to has been apoplectic about it,” said Doug Heye, a Republican strategist who’s worked at the Republican National Committee and in the George W. Bush administration.

“This is just the beginning,” added Heye. “The potential for it to be really bad is real."

The mayor of Phoenix, Arizona, issued a statement Wednesday night urging (45)to delay his campaign rally in the city while "our nation is still healing" from the violence that took place in Charlottesville, Va.

“It is my hope that more sound judgement prevails and that he delays his visit," Mayor Greg Stanton (D) said in a statement, also saying he is "disappointed" with the president.

Stanton also warned Trump against any plans to pardon former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who was convicted of criminal contempt last month for disobeying a judge's order to stop detaining people over suspicion of being undocumented. Arpaio was a controversial sheriff because of his hardline immigration stances.

"If (45) is coming to Phoenix to announce a pardon for former Sheriff Joe Arpaio, then it will be clear that his true intent is to enflame tensions and further divide our nation," Stanton said in the statement.told Fox News earlier this week that he was seriously considering pardoning Arpaio, who he called a "patriot."

“Is there anyone in local law enforcement who has done more to crack down on illegal immigration than Sheriff Joe?” Trump told Fox News. “He has protected people from crimes and saved lives. He doesn’t deserve to be treated this way.”

Stanton also said that while he disagreed with Trump's visit, he wouldn't attempt to prevent Trump from renting his rally venue, the Phoenix Convention Center.

"With regard to use of the Phoenix Convention Center for the rally: This is a public facility and open to anyone to rent, including the Trump campaign," he said.

"Our Constitution protects the right to free speech, even for those we disagree with or those who don't represent the values we hold dear as a community," he concluded.

(45) is planning to have a campaign like rally in Phoenix next week. Only people voted for (45) will attend this kind of rally.

For the racist rodent bigot.

Charles Krauthammer said he was "shocked" that President Trump failed to explicitly name the racist groups who rioted in Charlottesville, Va. on Saturday.

"This is not a media story, it is a presidential story," he said of the protests over the planned removal of a Robert E. Lee statue in what was once called Lee Park.

He called it "shocking" that Trump "did not have the instinctive, reflexive, automatic response we'd expect from an American leader."

"The president did not do what was natural," he said, adding that most Americans were "utterly revolted by right-wing white supremacist neo-Nazi groups."

Krauthammer said Trump was too late in denouncing the violence in Thomas Jefferson's hometown by the time he named the groups on Monday.

"He had to read from a prompter the names of these groups," Krauthammer said.

There is much more. This is why (45) said, "We will see." Kim made a fool out of him.

Charlottesville, saying that Bannon wished to meet with me. I’d just published a column on how China was profiting from the U.S.-North Korea nuclear brinkmanship, and it included some choice words about Bannon’s boss.

“In Kim, Trump has met his match,” I wrote. “The risk of two arrogant fools blundering into a nuclear exchange is more serious than at any time since October 1962.” Maybe Bannon wanted to scream at me?

I told the assistant that I was on vacation, but I would be happy to speak by phone. Bannon promptly called.

Far from dressing me down for comparing Trump to Kim, he began, “It’s a great honor to finally track you down. I’ve followed your writing for years and I think you and I are in the same boat when it comes to China. You absolutely nailed it.”

“We’re at economic war with China,” he added. “It’s in all their literature. They’re not shy about saying what they’re doing. One of us is going to be a hegemon in 25 or 30 years and it’s gonna be them if we go down this path. On Korea, they’re just tapping us along. It’s just a sideshow.”

Bannon said he might consider a deal in which China got North Korea to freeze its nuclear buildup with verifiable inspections and the United States removed its troops from the peninsula, but such a deal seemed remote. Given that China is not likely to do much more on North Korea, and that the logic of mutually assured destruction was its own source of restraint, Bannon saw no reason not to proceed with tough trade sanctions against China.

Contrary to Trump’s threat of fire and fury, Bannon said: “There’s no military solution [to North Korea’s nuclear threats], forget it. Until somebody solves the part of the equation that shows me that ten million people in Seoul don’t die in the first 30 minutes from conventional weapons, I don’t know what you’re talking about, there’s no military solution here, they got us.” Bannon went on to describe his battle inside the administration to take a harder line on China trade, and not to fall into a trap of wishful thinking in which complaints against China’s trade practices now had to take a backseat to the hope that China, as honest broker, would help restrain Kim.

“To me,” Bannon said, “the economic war with China is everything. And we have to be maniacally focused on that. If we continue to lose it, we're five years away, I think, ten years at the most, of hitting an inflection point from which we'll never be able to recover.”

Your fascination with my housing is let's put it mildly interesting.

First thing is the current residence is owned exclusively buy my wife. Our income was used to qualify for a refinance but she is the sole owner of the title. Home prices in our part of the country are much higher than much of the rest of the country. The climate in Southern California is perhaps the best in the on the planet.
If you want to you can go skiing in the morning and go surfing in the afternoon or the other way around. Compared to Buffalo New York where well let's put it this way the weather sucks.

Second thing, is our guaranteed for life income, is, well higher than most of you. Think six figures.

And your fascination with my recovery from my addiction is amazing. Even our esteemed host has made a comment that it is very difficult to recover from such an addiction. I have more 5 years sober and I have no intent of ever having another drink of alcohol. And as part of the survival of all of this has been going on I'm going to devote part of my life to helping others recovering from the addiction of alcohol.

All of you should be organ donors but I suspect the none of you are. More than 7000 lives are saved every year just in liver transplants. And most of them are not related to alcoholism unless the person has completely recovered before they even qualify for the list. My doctors promoted me with my condition which does not normally get a transplant because I had done the right things and work hard at it and I deserve it. I will honor the donor the rest of my life

I've always wondered something. Suppose a mad scientist could replace your brain cells with electronic ones, just a tiny bit at a time. A few neuron and synapses, you wouldn't know any difference. A few more, and your mental patterns adapt to them, and you're the same as the day before. Suppose that kept happening, day after day. Then one day your brain is completely electronic, with the same thoughts, memories, drives and desires as you always had. Would you still be you?

wphamilton said...

And a step further in the theme of a brain transplant and one's identity. What if, instead of replacing neurons with electronic ones, you simply added to the existing ones? In other words, wire in some extra connections which mimic your natural neural tissues in every way, except for being more durable and faster, and allowing you to naturally off-load a small portion of your mental activities into the electronic area. I think that the tiny change wouldn't change who you are. You'd still be you, perhaps with some extra memory capability or incrementally faster thought processes.

But, as we age, our natural capabilities degrade and it seems to me that every day you'd come to rely on the electronics portion just a tiny bit more relative to the natural brain. In each of the small changes, you're still the same person as before. Eventually the brain dies, and you're using only the electronics, are you dead at that point? Are you something else from the day before? Or have you evolved while retaining your identity? Are you still as human at that point, with an electronic brain, as is someone who has a mechanical heart or other organ?

Or would you just think that you're human, the same person only better, and just deluding yourself? But if that is the case, if you think it would be an illusion, how do you know that right now while you're sitting in your chair reading this, that you're not deluding yourself that you're the same person as you were before, that your consciousness isn't actually on autopilot just reacting according to the same patterns that you've imprinted long ago, and isn't just an illusion of consciousness?

wphamilton said...

So, everyone here is certain they are a real person, that their consciousness is more than an illusion arising from self-awareness? More than a complicated pattern of programmed response?

How would you know if it weren't so? How would you try to prove it, if your life depended on it?
