John McCain said to be clueless?

This coming from the guy who recently sided with Democrats, with the deciding vote to put an end to even any debate regarding Obamacare repeal. Choosing to do so even after repeatedly and specifically campaigning on the concept of repealing Obamacare.

“I haven’t seen anything like it before. I have no way of divining
 [Trump‘s] motives. I’m a pretty intelligent guy. I don’t understand.”

Now, McCain can't figure out why the President would work with Democrats to help structure an storm aid relief package and temporary funding of the Government. As if it's okay for him to work with Democrats, but not for the President?

Perhaps, John, because once again, the Republicans in the Senate and House couldn't get their shit together long enough to unite on a bill that would fund the relief effort in the wake of hurricane Harvey? The President rightfully believed that it would be "easier" to work with unified Democrats and only work to pull in a handful of Republicans... rather than play the whack a mole game of continuously trying to not lose more than any two Republicans at any given time.

It's fine, Senator McCain if you want to make your personal power play moves at the expense of your Party and the policy directions of your Party....  but you don't get to to do so when the country needs to get together to help victims of a natural disaster. Even the GOP supporters will lose patience with petty politics when people's lives are at stake.

McCain wants to restore the trust of the political system that has been lost for couple decades. All the polls show that they people on the majority do not trust the government to work properly. Donald Trump exploited that successfully and got elected my climbing he was going to clean up the swamp. It's been obvious he has done nothing at all on that line and McCain is stating the truth. We must restore this faith in our system or we may lose it and that's the scary thing.

If the Democrats ever want to regain power they are going to have to restore the faith and trust in the systems of government.

Take a look what's going on now in Florida and what happened in Texas. The government provided the services necessary to save thousands of lives and eventually to rebuild the infrastructure. But in these low tax states they had to go to the federal government for federal aid Senator McCain is correct. We must restore our faith in the system of government and through a bipartisan mechanism and address the serious problems that we face.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The so-called Freedom caucus bitterly fought against the funding for the recovery for Hurricane Harvey. They would do the same thing for the relief of hurricane Irma.

There's plenty of room for blame ch. It's not just McCain. The main reason he lost his because he picked the wrong vice presidential candidate she was a total disaster and you know that. Nobody wanted Sarah Palin One Heartbeat Away from the presidency nobody with a brain that worked. His worst judgment he ever made. And yes he is a true hero and can you blame him for not liking Donald J Trump for lying about it and calling him not a hero because he wasn't because he was captured.? What are you thinking? I'll think about it Jiminy Christmas

One last comment before I head to the gym. The storm is tracking on the west coast of Florida and is headed right for Orlando. McCain and others and the Republican Party are actually looking at possibility on a true bipartisan approach to taking care of the health care problem that we have in this country. What are the most imaginative country in the world we have done that Time After Time. We can do this if we shut the damn door on the ideological idiots and talk about what we can do and what we can't do. I will not get my single pair of spare system, I know that, but we can get a lot better system than we had before Obamacare and we can improve Obamacare and make it work. Repealing and replacement is just a joke. It's just campaign slang. And open-minded analysis of the situation could actually get to the store solution instead of claiming that the senator from Arizona is out of it and lost it because of his drink brain tumor. He reported today that the progress is doing quite well and he's and although it's very dangerous we know that. But he's a strong man and he is fighting it tooth and nail. And he's telling the truth the cold hearted truth and that needs to be addressed because we have to fix this system. We cannot throw out 20 million mostly elderly people because we don't want to pay another minute of tax? Is that a good idea? I mean or just let them hurry up and die? What the hell you want? Well that's why I don't get any answers no no no no no no, because they're too difficult answer. Because the cold hearted truth that you have closed your mind to stand up for the President, no matter what he says or does. That is not an insult that is the truth the cold hearted truth. Adios amigos buenos dias. The old gym rat is back. They call me the BEAST! :-) :-) :-)

New York Times: “Although elected as a Republican last year, Mr. Trump has shown in the nearly eight months in office that he is, in many ways, the first independent to hold the presidency since the advent of the current two-party system around the time of the Civil War.

“In recent weeks, he has quarreled more with fellow Republicans than with the opposition, blasting congressional leaders on Twitter, ousting former party officials in his White House, embracing primary challenges to incumbent lawmakers who defied him and blaming Republican figures for not advancing his policy agenda."

This not fake news, explains how and why he shocked the Republicans.

President Donald Trump is adopting a new approach to governing after a rocky start to his term.

-----
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/finally-dawned-trump-much-people-164100778.html

One adviser told Axios' Mike Allen that after seven months in office, the president finally realized, "people really f---ing hate me."

Trump's decision this week to work with House minority leader, Nancy Pelosi, and Senate minority leader, Chuck Schumer, may signal that he's open to pivoting to a different strategy after hovering at record low levels of popularity during his first seven months in office: working across the aisle.

Earlier this week, Trump sided with congressional Democrats to bundle Hurricane Harvey relief funds, a three-month debt-limit increase, and a three-month continuing resolution to keep the government funded. The decision pitted Trump against leaders of his own party who wanted a longer extension on the debt ceiling.

House Speaker Paul Ryan had hours earlier called a three-month debt-limit increase "ridiculous" and said Democrats were trying to "play politics" by suggesting tying in aid for Harvey relief.

As the leaders appeared ready to agree to disagree, Trump reportedly interjected and said the group should go with a three-month debt-limit extension and a three-month continuing resolution.

One senior administration official told Axios that Trump's deal with the Democrats had come because "he just wanted to do something popular." The president, famed for his focus on the way he's perceived in the media, reportedly basked in the praise he received from "Morning Joe" after the deal was struck.

----

I made it clear that I actually agreed with the President. You have never really addressed it. Why did you just again, not comment good or bad.

Roger - You cannot possibly be both an admirer of what Trump did in this deal, and say that McCain's criticism of the deal is "correct". But the reality is that you simply embrace any and all criticism of Trump (even when you have made the same argument that Trump is being criticized for).

In terms of ignoring lies... there are political lies that "don't matter" and political lies that "do matter". Tweeting about a inauguration crowd size is silly, immature, and silly (yes I repeated the word). But it's not very important in the grand scheme of things.

Lying about why Americans died in Benghazi, or lying about what you are pushing in legislation (you can keep your Ins, doctor, save $2400/year, etc)... are incredibly important in tangible terms.

Or lying about why you hid 30,000 emails, used a private server, or flat out lied about what an FBI director said about you... is also incredibly important.

As a matter of fundamental hypocrisy, your infatuation with double fact checking things like Trump's grammar, or taking technically true statements and demanding them fake... is funny stuff... for someone who accepted everything Obama told him (even when it was an obvious lie) and openly supported probably the most dishonest politician (H.R.C.) of our Generation.

Do I think Trump distorts the truth, exaggerates most everything, and in some cases flat out lies? As my dad would ask... do bears shit in the woods? Do I wish he didn't any of that? Sure... but give me a President (or mainstream politician) who isn't full of shit.

It would be news and worthy of my time posting if Trump suddenly because the guy who always told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. But it's not worth my time to post about every tweet or rally speech where he says something that isn't 100% accurate.

That was your gig over on the legacy blog... you saw how interested people are in reading that day after day.

C.H. Truth said...

I'll give you a hint, Roger...

Hold yourself to your own standards. Here are a couple of examples:

You (and your ilk) continue to argue that uncertainty about whether or not insurance companies will continue to receive subsidies is the sole reason why the rates have been rising. You flat out blame Trump.

You have to obviously know that this argument is a flat out lie.
- first: they were rising by the same rates back when Obama was giving the subsidies
- second: it cannot possibly be Trump's fault, because the courts (ultimately) have ruled that there is no Presidential authority to provide them. Those subsidies were not written into the law.

Yet you will continue to make the same argument over and over... knowing full well it's not accurate. A total scam.

You (and your ilk) continue to demand that Trump is somehow overturning some "law" in regards to DACA. You demand that it's unfair, and some argue it's actually illegal (there are people going to court over it).

Yet this argument is B.S. because:
- First. Same sort of legislation was determined to be outside of the President's authority (by a multi-judge circuit court) because prosecutorial discretion does not include providing a status to an illegal immigrant. If it is illegal in that case, it's also illegal in this case. The states did not sue (until recently) because they were not sure if they had to. But when they did, Trump's hand was forced (as it DACA would almost certainly gone down to the same fate).

I read an article by Eric Holder who stated Trump was wrong, because DACA was a matter of prosecutorial discretion. He (former AG) made a legal argument in a opinion article published nationally, without ever offering the fact that this very argument was rejected by a District Judge and Circuit court panel. How honest is that, Roger? And guess what... that matters.

- Second: Most importantly, this is exactly the downfall of a President attempting to legislate via executive order. He cannot possibly promise what he is doing will be upheld by future Presidents. Even if Trump continued the policy, the next President could have told his AG to prosecute and deport, because there is no legal precedent (or law) demanding otherwise.

The lie (really in this case) was Obama suggesting that he could make a law, promise these 700K that they could be given green cards, etc... when he knew himself (plenty of quotes to this) that he didn't have the authority and it would likely be shot down in Court... and he also had to know that if Clinton didn't win the 2016, that the GOP President was not likely to uphold it.

The dishonesty... is 100% on your side. Yet you allow and embrace the dishonestly because you think there is some underlying "bigger cause" that justifies the dishonesty.

But you have a problem with tweets about crowd sizes?

Upon further review, we aren't as far apart from each other as I assumed.

ObamaCare has serious flaws. But it is a good start. They are subsidised, but unless I am mistaken, the states, if they were going to use Medicare, that would've covered more people at a lower cost.

The court challenge is irrelevant now. Not only that, is being certain that it would have been overturned, but likely.

"and he also had to know that if Clinton didn't win the 2016, that the GOP President was not likely to uphold it. "

Well, even more, the President knows that if he expelled 700,000, productive young people, the political price would've been overwhelming.

You in another post, you finally found that Trump's lies are disturbing. You also brought up the email issue in regards to Clinton, she didn't win. Benghazi was eventually not a big scam as they tried to blow up. Irrelevant IMO.

Lies?
Got room for a modest but substantial list? :-) :-)

Wiretapped the Gold Tower? The meeting with the Russians, first time adoption, then the President knew about it and wrote the infamous note. Then, the Russians had dirt on Clinton. The list goes on and on and on...

Trump decision looms on crucial Obamacare payments
By PAUL DEMKO 07/31/2017 03:16 PM EDT
President Donald Trump at any time could make good on a threat to scrap crucial Obamacare payments to insurers — a decision that could raise Obamacare customers’ costs and potentially leave tens of thousands more without any coverage options next year.

While the Obamacare repeal effort has faltered in Congress, Trump has the unilateral power to abolish the payments, worth about $7 billion this year, as he has repeatedly threatened to do. His warnings have escalated since the implosion of the Senate's Obamacare repeal effort last week.

I'm married to a legal immigrant myself. Opie was wrong. Be careful, or we will both smack you.

Just as reasonable, why have a debt limit at all if you're going to raise it every few months, or automatically? Congress needs to repeal the debt limit entirely, or else rework it to the point that the budget is funded.

Why keep borrowing and spending when there is a debt limit? It's a reasonable question. Just as reasonable, why have a debt limit at all if you're going to raise it every few months, or automatically? It's turned into a political game, which one side or another uses for leverage against everyone else.

Exactly... it's not a matter of policy principle. If it was, then the two sides would not simply change their minds on the issue when you replace a Democratic President/Congress with a Republican President/Congress.

I agree with those fiscal conservatives who believe that the debt limit is designed to reign in spending, and that just raising it for the sake of raising it... is a cop out.

Jim Jordan talked about just that on Sunday. That his caucus would like to see any rise in the debt limit attached to a spending limit of some percentage of GDP. So that the only time the debt limit is raised is when the GDP increases, and then only by the same specific amount that GDP rises.

Seems reasonable to me.
