Colton Haab or CNN?

Who it telling the truth...
  • Colton Haab claims that CNN rewrote his question for him, and told him that it was important for him to stick to a script.
  • CNN suggests that they did no such thing, and that their only issue was that Haab wanted to give a speech, and this forum was not the place for speeches.
So who is telling the truth and who is fudging the truth?

Last night Colton Haab was on Tucker Carlson, and laid out exactly what he said took place. He stated that originally CNN has asked him to write up a statement and a question, which he did. Then they told him that he couldn't read a statement, but could ask the question, which he agreed to. Later he said that the question he submitted had been rewritten for him by member of CNN (he provided the name in question) and that he was told to ask it as they wrote it, and that it was important to stick to the script. At that point, Haab claimed he decided to back out of the event.

CNN basically denies... well pretty much all of it.

When there seems to be a dispute such as this, it's important to not allow your "politics" to determine who might be the honest one and who might be the dishonest one. If you are a conservative, your knee jerk reaction would be to side with Haab against the evil CNN. If you are liberal, your knee jerk reaction is to believe the trusted CNN over some ROTC conservative gun freak.

But a quick look at what took place might lend some credibility to one argument or the other. As pointed out by many viewers,  there were many students who were given an opportunity to provide statements along with their questions. This seems to go against the CNN stated argument that the forum didn't allow for speeches or statements. Rather, it would seem that CNN didn't want Haab to provide his specific statement along with his question.

Secondly, pointed out by Haab on Tucker Carlson, if you watch the forum, you will notice that every person who gave a statement or asked a question was holding and read from identical pieces of papers. Now it's possible that CNN just handed out these props so that the students could write down their own questions, but that would require the assumption that nobody had previously written their questions out and that everyone wanted to read from a piece of paper. He seems to believe that CNN provided both the props and the questions with them.

The irony is that almost every day, people who worked for the President are pleading guilty. Lock him up.

The word "Russia" was not mentioned.

He again and again attached the free press.

I understand the gun free zone issue, but I don't think that solution for school attacks is more guns.

He rambled on and addressed 31 topics .

Rick Gates is pleading guilty and has agreed to cooperate with the Russian intervention investigation.

The irony is that, as he talked like Adolph Hitler:

WASHINGTON — A former top adviser to Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign indicted by the special counsel was expected to plead guilty as soon as Friday afternoon, according to two people familiar with his plea agreement, a move that signals he is cooperating with the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

The adviser, Rick Gates, is a longtime political consultant who once served as Mr. Trump’s deputy campaign chairman. The plea deal could be a significant development in the investigation — a sign that Mr. Gates plans to offer incriminating information against his longtime associate and the former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, or other members of the Trump campaign in exchange for a lighter punishment.

The deal comes as the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, has been raising pressure on Mr. Gates and Mr. Manafort with dozens of new charges of money laundering and bank fraud that were unsealed on Thursday in Alexandria, Va. Mr. Mueller first indicted both men in October, and both pleaded not guilty.

The deal came together over the past few days, according to people familiar with the process. It was not immediately clear what the agreement will mean for the newly filed charges in Virginia; it is unusual for a new indictment to be brought on the eve of a plea change.

In a letter to friends and family, obtained first by ABC News, Mr. Gates said there had been false news stories about an impending plea deal over the past two weeks.

But, he added, “Despite my initial desire to vigorously defend myself, I have had a change of heart. The reality of how long this legal process will likely take, the cost, and the circuslike atmosphere of an anticipated trial are too much. I will better serve my family moving forward by exiting this process.”

If Mr. Manafort continues to fight the charges in a trial, testimony from Mr. Gates could give Mr. Mueller’s team a first-person account of the criminal conduct that is claimed in the indictments — a potential blow to Mr. Manafort’s defense strategy.

Actually Roger is right...

We shouldn't listen to teenagers... especially not the ones from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

So as Roger is obviously suggesting... we would be silly to listen to what those students had to say the other night at the CNN forum.

After all they were just teenage high schoolers.

One manifestation of this outlaw personality, for both Trump and Clinton, was their brand of womanizing—and, indeed, harassing. Even among world-class womanizers and harassers, they seemed exceptionally free of doubt or hesitation. Trump liked to say that one of the things that made life worth living was getting your friends’ wives into bed. In pursuing a friend’s wife, he would try to persuade the wife that her husband was perhaps not what she thought. Then he’d have his secretary ask the friend into his office; once the friend arrived, Trump would engage in what was, for him, more or less constant sexual banter. Do you still like having sex with your wife? How often? You must have had a better fuck than your wife? Tell me about it. I have girls coming in from Los Angeles at three o’clock. We can go upstairs and have a great time. I promise … And all the while, Trump would have his friend’s wife on the speakerphone, listening in. Previous presidents, and not just Clinton, have of course lacked scruples. What was, to many of the people who knew Trump well, much more confounding was that he had managed to win this election, and arrive at this ultimate accomplishment, wholly lacking what in some obvious sense must be the main requirement of the job, what neuroscientists would call executive function

Ariana Klein, a junior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, said it was "inexcusable" that CNN would attempt to get fellow survivor of the school shooting Colton Haab to deliver a "scripted question" at a Wednesday town hall event conducted by the network on the massacre. Klein attended the listening session hosted by President Trump at the White House on Wednesday.:

CNN released emails from a network producer on Friday that contradict a Florida high school student's claim that the network scripted a question that he was supposed to ask at a televised town hall event this week.

Colton Haab, a survivor of last week's mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., said Thursday on Fox News that CNN had initially asked him to "write a speech and ask questions" for the event but that a producer ultimately scripted a question for him. CNN has denied that claim.

According to Business Insider, CNN and Haab agreed on the question that he would ask at the town hall. His father, Glenn Haab, pulled his son out of the event after the network refused to let the student read a lengthy speech.

The Haabs also appeared to provide doctored emails to media outlets to back up the claim that CNN scripted the questions, Business Insider reported. CNN's version of the email showed that the producer wrote she wanted the student to stick to a question "that he submitted," but that phrase was omitted in the version released by the family.

The Hill site has the revised emails.
