Now this is actually a slightly more advanced argument than I had previously suggested. It's not just that Trump put the focus on Ocasio-Cortez and her "squad" of politically toxic, horribly unpopular, social warriors and promises to keep them in the news with what will most likely be an ongoing feud. It also created a situation where prominent Democrats (and their idiot minions in the media) would be forced to defend them.
While most strategists were under the conventional wisdom that the ongoing tension between the AOC Justice warrior Squad and the more moderate Party leadership was a political problem for the Democrats, apparently Donald Trump thought differently. It's probably a more correct read that Pelosi and many other moderates truly wanted to distance themselves from the feeble freshman four, and that the realization that they had to step up and defend them was not a choice they made without apprehension.
But now Trump can point to Pelosi and others "defending" Omar, Tlaib, Pressley, and Ocasio-Cortez and by proxy elevating the status of the most unpopular members of the Democratic ranks. Keep in mind, Omar's approval rating is 9%, which is slightly lower than root canals (13%) and enemas (16%).
What is the downside? That Democrats and the media bark at the moon with their 76,543rd accusation that the President is a racist? Here is a hint for everyone. A tweet will not change anyone's mind about the issue. Period.
Those who have not already convinced themselves that he is a racist will not become convinced that he is prior to November of 2020. Likewise, no matter how "well" he acts over the next few months, nobody who currently believes he is a racist is going to rescind that viewpoint. Whatever "racism" or "bigotry" you believe the President has (or doesn't have) running through his bones, the entire issue is already baked into the 2020 election. Continuing to bring it up is akin to beating a dead horse and likely hurts more than than helps at this point.
The hard reality for liberals here is that they just got played. They can accept that they got played and move on, or they can continue to play the President's game by the President's rules and continue to dig themselves a bigger hole. By all means, continue to defend that poor helpless "squad" from the big bad orange man.

Kellyanne Conway on Tuesday lashed out at reporters who pressed her on President Trump’s tweets saying four Democratic congresswomen of color should “go back” to their home countries.
On Sunday, Trump stirred outrage on Twitter when he suggested that Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts should “go back” to their “broken and crime infested” countries. All of the women are U.S. citizens, and three of the four were born in the United States.
Conway, counselor to the president, claimed Trump was not suggesting the women return to their home countries.
She was then asked by Andrew Feinberg, a reporter for the website Beltway Breakfast, what countries Trump was referring to in his tweet.

Roger sure has fallen, he used to brag of a good wife, a nice house, 6 figure I come. Now he is suicidal and unable to meet financial obligations is 11 days from a forced eviction by the County Sheriff's .
Roger's demise (if true) is not anything to celebrate and it doesn't prove anything other than California is a fairly heartless place to live if you are a white citizen who runs into financial trouble.
