Vice Presidential Debate (Does anyone care?)

Of all of the Presidential elections I have been witness to, I am not sure there has been one where the Vice Presidential candidates have made "less" news than the current twosome. Bland, traditional, nondescript, uncontroversial... just a few of the words that might be used to describe these two.

That being said, there is always the traditional sideshow of the Vice Presidential debates, and the media will always over-hype how important they are. Tonight we witness the great debate between Tim Kaine and Mike Pence. I doubt it will be very "great" and I doubt it will make much of a difference.

Tim vs Mike - I think that says it all. Zzzzz....

The only way this matter is if one or the other does so well or so poorly that it reflects on the "judgement" of the Presidential candidate who chose them as their running mate. I guess to that degree, there is more pressure on Kaine than there will be on Pence, mainly because there are more question surrounding Kaine's effect on the campaign (he has struggled to draw crowds while Pence has rocked the campaign trail).

Wouldn't it just be a Tim Kaine move to reverse the current momentum due to being a complete bust on the stage.

No, I think Mike Pence will beat Tim Kaine like a rented mule but nobody will give a damn.

imo, the only reason to watch would be that kaine's running mate is a senile old alcoholic with serious health issues. kaine's an asshat on steroids who is a heartbeat away from the presidency. that's disconcerting.

Taxes, that is easy, Hillary did two things.

1, She gave a million dollars to herself by sending a "donation" to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation.

2, She used the same tax code to deduct losses.

Hillary loved TPP and NAFTA.

Pence is sure going to have a difficult time of it tonight, seeing that he has previously taken several important positions directly opposing Trump's.

And how will he possibly defend Trump against some of his more egregious recent insensitive remarks about traumatized veterans and his inexcusably sexist remarks about women?

All Kaine has to do is make it about Trump.

All Pence has to do is make it about Kaine and the comparisons between the records of the two governors...

which under normal circumstances, should be easier since it is a debate between the two of them. But in this cycle, I am guessing that all the tough questions will go to Pence and who knows what will be asked.

Well, since he's running on the side of a man with whom he once strongly disagreed and about whom there is so much controversy and disgust, as well as much "buyer's remorse" among Republicans, you'd think he would indeed get some tough questions.

James...

Pence is a successful Governor with a track record in Indiana that would put Kaine's Virginia term to shame...

Again, the idea of the Vice President debate is for these two to debate the issues between them. To see which one seems more qualified and able to take over the Presidency if need be (only a heartbeat away).

Debating Trump vs Clinton completely misses the point of the debate. If Kaine refuses to try to take on Pence (and keeps trying to change the subject to the Presidential candidates) it's going to make him look like he doesn't feel confident in his own abilities to take on the job.

Oh I don't know. Kain has to try and make Clinton likable.

That's mission impossible.

I think we see where this is going.

She's letting Kaine run the debate.

Kaine got crushed.

Not the first time you were wrong. It won't be the last time.
