Preemptive preemptive strike?

So, critics of the President argue, the President is "acting guilty" because he continues to deny wrong doing and continues to attack the Mueller investigation.  The logic is that he is attempting to preemptively delegitimize Mueller, in order to cast doubt on all of the horrible criminal charges that are sure to come.

But if denying wrongdoing and attacking people is a sign of guilt, then most certainly the same logic must hold true for the three stooges of the Intelligence agency, Brennan, Clapper, and Comey. Even Donald Trump appears amateur in comparison to these three as it pertains to demanding innocence and declaring themselves above accusation. Not even the President can match the constant barking at the moon about how much damage to the country will be garnered by simply assigning an inspector general to look into these issues.

Let's be clear here too. The President has endured four different investigations that have been going on for upwards two years. So far there is nothing from any of these investigations to disprove the President's demand that there was "no collusion" and that the investigation into Russia/Trump collusion is little more than a "witch hunt".  Let's stop to consider that he has not had a day of being President that has not had the cloud of an "investigation" over his head. He is the only President in history to ever come into office being investigated, and there seems little factual evidence provided by anyone that this investigation was started (and continues) for good reason.

On the flip side, the Brennan, Clapper, Comey complaints are that any investigation at all is not only unnecessary, but also would lead to a wide variety of concerns that include fundamental damage to the country, a constitutional crisis, widespread anarchy in the streets, and quite possibly a Zombie apocalypse. They couldn't possibly be any more hysterical as it pertains to their demands that the inner workings behind the Trump investigation "not" be looked into.

Again, this is a key point that demands repeating. The President has been investigated by four different entities, and so far nothing has come up to make us believe that there was ever any good reason to investigate Trump and his Administration. The President would just like these investigations to end with a report of whatever "findings" were uncovered over the past two years. This is entirely different from the Intelligence stooges to be sending out requests to Senators to "stop" attempts to have anyone look into their possible wrongdoings, along with a wall to wall media appearances, demanding how awful it is that anyone is considering looking at whether or not the intelligence community was acting properly and ethically.

The argument continues to be made that nobody, including the President, is above the law. This has been proven by the fact that the President has been under investigation. But if nobody is above the law, then that would also mean that our intelligence community is also not above the law. The American public deserves to understand that everyone (not just the President) can be taken to task, investigated, and held accountable for whatever wrongdoings are found. That means following up on what appears to be very strong suggestion that there was partisan, unethical, and possibly even criminal behavior by our intelligence community.

You and The President are tearing down the institutions that have been keeping us safe for decades. From World War Two through the cold war and the war on terrorism. Yet to protect the President you are claiming that they have no ethical authority to investigate the Fake President.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

If the President directs the department of justice to investigate them for crimes the President believes they committed. A criminal investigation is not initiated based upon the opinion of the President. The law requires evidence that the law was violated with criminal intent. The President's opinions are not justification for a criminal investigation. Your comment is completely inaccurate because there is a clear intent to initiate an investigation unless there is something we are not aware of.

Ignorance on steroids.

The investigation into the Trump campaign was initiated by clear evidence that the Russians were aggressively targeting Clinton to the benefit of the Trump campaign. There was evidence of collusion because of the infamous Gold Tower meeting.

Scot the Clinton strategy of disinformation is that many people on her campaign staff are simply going to insist upon charges of russian collusion, and decide that there must be something to them because a failed candidate for president of the United States is saying them to explain away losing an election so rigged in her favor she could not possibly lose.

Actually Rog,

Having an Inspector General investigate unusual or questionable behavior by the FBI does not involve a criminal investigation, nor does it require any evidence of criminal activity.

An Inspector General can investigate in order to determine if the people involved in the Trump collusion investigation followed proper procedures, followed proper guidelines, and used proper judgement.

An Inspector General cannot bring charges. They can only make findings. An FBI agents signs onto the the FBI knowing full well that Inspector Generals are their watch dogs, and that they can be subject to that sort of investigation.

I wonder, Rog... how many times liberals have attacked the rank and file Police officers and demanded that arrests, shootings, and basic decision making by these police officers (who unlike FBI investigators do put their lives on the line) are racist and in need of investigation.

Hasn't it been liberals who demand all rank and file cops should wear body cameras (because apparently liberals don't trust them). Why are the actual cops who risk their lives required to go through constant scrutiny by you people... but those who sit behind a desk and play politics with the law...

are in your mind... above the law.

The wrong team!

What the fuck is wrong with the NHL to set up an expansion team to win the Stanley Cup in their first year? The Wild lost two of their best players this year. 50 cumulative goals between the two of them.

Only allowing 8 players to be protected? What a joke. You got a brand new expansion team loaded with first and second line players from top to bottom.

It's not a conspiracy to say that each team was only allowed to protect their top eight players, nor is it a conspiracy to say that Las Vegas were able load up on top line players. It's what they did.

It's certainly not a conspiracy to say that the set up allowed an expansion team to make to (and likely win) the Cup in their first year of existence. Because they are there and now favored to win.

Many people believed (from the start) that the rules this year would provide the Las Vegas team with way more talent than any expansion team in any sport. Turns out they were right.

Good thing the Capitals beat the Lightning, or you would have had a Stanley Cup playoffs between two cities that probably don't have more than a few dozen people who actually play hockey!

Yeah, I will say it... would rather have any of the original six (Chicago, Boston, NY, Detroit, Toronto, Montreal) or Edmonton, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottowa or Minnesota, Buffalo, etc... anyone where people actually play the game.

The playoff schedule sucked. They had 1, 2 seeded teams knocking each other off in the early rounds and mediocre teams getting a free pass.

While it didn't make much diffrence in the east, it made a big diffrence in the west.

And yes, current teams should have been able to protect more of their players in the expansion draft.

Well I'm advocate for free markets, and the free market for hockey in Florida is outstanding.

You're now sounding like the NBC snobs who tried the ignore the Lightning throughout the playoffs because they were not an acceptable team. (Yet the Golden Knights are, go figure)

The saddest part about the Lightning losing the EC finals is that we don't get to see the match up between Andrei Vasilevskiy and Marc-Andre Fleury.

That would have been something.

No first year expansion team should ever win the league championship in their first year. Not in the NFL. Not in the NBA. Not in the NHL. Not in MLB.

The fact that the Vegas team is likely to do so is not a "good thing". It's a big fat slap in the face to every other NHL team out there. Teams who have all been through many training camps, many seasons, many games together.

C.H. Truth said...

Hey, we all have our reasons to root for certain teams. When I watched the Winnipeg Vegas series, and they show the streets around the Winnipeg stadium all blocked off so that thousands of fans can just watch "nearby" the actual game... you start to understand the sort of intensity that people who actually play the sport feel about it.

I have a son who is a hockey player. You are talking a 15 year old who's played 12 full years. You are talking September to April winter seasons with 150-200 hours of practices and games. You are talking Summer programs with another 100 hours. You are talking driving 30 miles to a Saturday morning 6 AM practice because that is where you can find ice time. We are talking lessons before school at 6 A.M. You are talking practices on school nights that go till 10:00. My son has played hundreds of games, been invited to play in a local elite league with players who have national rankings who will play on television some day.

Funny thing is, that he is a sophomore next year and has almost no shot to make his Varsity High School team, and only a reasonable shot at playing Jr Varsity.... because in Minnesota, a kid like mine is a dime a dozen in every High School program. You have to do all that, just to have a chance to play at the High School level.

All that might be even "more" intense in many places in Canada.

So yeah, those are the people who understand the game, and are the sort of fans I hope are rewarded with a good team. While I appreciate that people like Hockey in California (some even play hockey in California). Given the choice, I will root for the Canadian and other hockey town teams.

Just my deal I guess.

I love the Lightening style of play, stretch passes thru the nutral zone. Defensemen jumping into offensive zone, key that winger cycle to points to keep the zone.

Denny-

In 2000 there were two expansion teams in the NHL. The NHL teams were able to protect 15 players. The two teams had to split up what was left over. Columbus took last place in their division in their first year and didn't qualify for the playoffs till 2009. The Wild took last place in their first two years, and didn't make the playoffs till 2007.

In 1999 the Thrashers (now the Winnipeg Jets) were an expansion team. They won only 14 games, worst record in the league. Didn't make the playoffs till 2006.

In 1998 the Predators were an expansion team. Finished last, second to last, and failed to make the playoffs for their first five years.

In 1993, the Mighty Ducks won a record 33 games as an expansion team (still missing the playoffs). They made the playoffs for the first time in 1997.

This is how expansion is supposed to work. You work your way up from the bottom. No expansion team in the history of North American Sports has ever reached a championship game or series in history.
