Washed up former NBA MVP comes back with 50

Now I am not much into the NBA. In fact, I haven't watched much NBA ever since a bunch of all stars abandoned their own teams, and all went to Miami to manufacture a championship team together.

But occasionally I watch a bit of the Timberwolves games, and last night I caught some of the ending to their game, and the post game interviews.

So one of the Timberwolves current all stars (Jimmy Butler) didn't play because he never bothered to come to training camp, and is now "tired"... and because he is pouting because he doesn't believe management is taking his trade demands seriously. He apparently doesn't believe that the younger T-Wolve stars Karl Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins play hard enough.

So in his absence, they looked to former overall number one pick from the Bulls Derrick Rose to fill that void.

Rose, of course, was a former MVP in Chicago who got injured, cut, signed a couple of one year deals, had a leave of absence, and was traded and had to settle for a back up role on a team like the T-Wolves. But according to everyone, he has been a professional,  worked hard, and has done everything asked of him without complaints.

So it was nice to see him play as well as he did, and then show the sort of emotion he did after the game. You truly felt that he was humbled and grateful that he was given another chance. Given the raw young talent that the T-Wolves have right now, Rose could have a chance to be a leader on a team that could go deep. We'll see.

But it could be that if Rose continues to play back at his former levels, that he will follow the fame, glamour, and money and end up signing back with Chicago, New York, or LA, or some other high profile team. But for now...

i have felt your kickball pain, cali.

when i was living in KC it was when the KC wizards were MLS champs. i happened to have 3 of their starters living in my neighborhood, and my son - 7 or 8 at the time - idolized them. needless to say i spent a ton of time i'll never get back at arrowhead stadium watching wizards games. fortunately the tix were free. unfortunately the tix were free. LOL.
