A House Democratic Caucus meeting was roiled Thursday morning after one representative floated the possibility that the ongoing partial federal government shutdown might affect federal authorities' ability to secure the upcoming Super Bowl.
“That definitely got everyone’s attention,” one House Democrat who asked not to be identified told Fox News after the meeting.
Another lawmaker told Fox News that canceling the Super Bowl -- a possibility that officials have not suggested -- “would definitely lead to the end of the government shutdown." The game is set for Feb. 3 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta..
I am not so sure that the prospect of a Super Bowl being cancelled would pull anyone away from their respective positions. Trump has been in a perpetual war with the NFL since his became President, so he would likely cheer such a move.
Pelosi and the Democrats would simply see it as another thing for the country to be mad at Trump over (I think they are completely immune to the prospect that anyone would ever see them as being responsible for anything).
I think as long as the public remains divided over who is to "blame" rather than united in the idea that our elected leaders should be responsible enough to come to some sort of compromise... we will remain at an impasse.

Just a question, why should my taxpayer dollars go to securing a private for profit event? Why isn't the NFL footing the bill.
Shabby little boy
Dislike of him should be tempered by this consideration: He is an almost inexpressibly sad specimen. It must be misery to awaken to another day of being Donald Trump. He seems to have as many friends as his pluperfect self-centeredness allows, and as he has earned in an entirely transactional life. His historical ignorance deprives him of the satisfaction of working in a house where much magnificent history has been made. His childlike ignorance — preserved by a lifetime of single-minded self-promotion — concerning governance and economics guarantees that whenever he must interact with experienced and accomplished people, he is as bewildered as a kindergartener at a seminar on string theory.
Which is why this fountain of self-refuting boasts (“I have a very good brain”) lies so much. He does so less to deceive anyone than to reassure himself. And as balm for his base, which remains oblivious to his likely contempt for them as sheep who can be effortlessly gulled by preposterous fictions. The tungsten strength of his supporters’ loyalty is as impressive as his indifference to expanding their numbers.
Either the electorate, bored with a menu of faintly variant servings of boorishness, or the 22nd Amendment will end this, our shabbiest but not our first shabby presidency. As Mark Twain and fellow novelist William Dean Howells stepped outside together one morning, a downpour began and Howells asked, “Do you think it will stop?” Twain replied, “It always has.”

Roger if you had any self-awareness you would stay silent for a few days. Right now you're the crazy man screaming at reality.

I've been asking that for years, especially stadiums built with taxpayers and cities monies.....Indy paid for their stadium with a sales tax added to the city....allowing all residents to pay for Lucas Field to pay for it while the season ticket holders elite went to the game.....sad very sad...
Well Dennis for once we agree on something.
