C'mon people... use your brain!

So let's ponder something for a second here. There was a group of Congressional folks who went around and "toured" a couple of the detainment camps yesterday. Afterwards, you got some differences between what was being reported, depending on the Congressperson who was speaking. Obviously, the one who garnered the most noise (go figure) was Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who seems hell bent on continuing her ongoing feud with the Border Patrol folks.

But the one thing stated by everyone, is that with the exception of one Congressperson who was allowed to take one picture of some women, Border Control Security personnel took everyone's phones before they entered the facilities, therefore they were not allowed to take pictures. We can read into that however we want to read into it, but we certainly understand that no pictures were taken.

So where did all of the pictures of broken faucets, toilet areas with trash on the floor, and other images suggesting poor facilities come from? Because most certainly we saw more than a few making the rounds yesterday on social media, and even in some of your mainstream media. But if they were not taken by Ocasio-Cortez and gang, then where did they come from?

The reality is that these were just more of the same recirculated pictures that continue to pop up at opportune times, that are automatically assumed to be current, and reflective of what is happening today, and quite obviously designed to stir up anti-Trump sentiment. Most of them predate Trump, and some pictures are not even from border detention facilities (but rather from detention facilities that use the same fixtures). The fact that people somehow associated those pictures with yesterday's visits is a clear cut example of social media gaslighting, something that people with high levels of TDS are prone to.

Now we really don't know how the conditions have changed (for better or worse) since many of these original pictures were taken (most were taken prior to Trump being President). But what we do know, is that the design of the detention facilities has not changed. If there are only four showers in a building, it was built that way by someone else. If the sleeping quarters look like cages, then it was built that way by someone else. Bunk beds, drinking faucets on top of the toilets, etc, etc, etc... all built that way by someone else.

Look people, I know some of you want to reflexively just be "mad" all the time about everything and anything. But sometimes if you use a little common sense, your blood pressure might come down a little. At the end of the day, these are still detention facilities and the people in these facilities are not legal citizens and being detained according to the law. These facilities are not designed to be a Holiday Inn, and the people housed there are not invited guests.
