A very strange admission...

Comey sees nothing wrong with law enforcement having a political agenda

Let's start with the obvious. Law enforcement (and Special Counsel) had a mission to find the truth. Here, Comey is admitting that the "mission" of investigating the Russian influence into our 2016 election was to make a criminal conspiracy case against the President or at least someone within his campaign. The lack of criminal cases for conspiracy, makes the "mission" a failure... at least according to the former FBI director. Or perhaps, more to the point, the "mission" was to convince the American public that there was a conspiracy, even if you were unable to conclusively prove it.

Now ironically, Comey himself  had to testify under oath that he had found no evidence to that point of coordination between Trump and the Russian government, or those who ultimately interfered. He also testified under oath that he leaked information to the Press in order to prompt a Special Counsel investigation to continue the work he had started (but ultimately failed).

Special Counsel provided the public with a Report that normally would not be allowed under Department of Justice rules. It provided implied allegations without facts to back it up, and embarrassing information that never quite made it to the point of being evidence of criminal wrongdoing. More information than would ever be provided in a normal criminal probe that did not produce charges. In spite of this, the report not only failed to push the needle in favor of impeachment, it pushed it away from impeachment.

Occam's Razor suggests that the simplest theory with the least amount of assumptions is usually the correct theory. In this case, the simplest theory as to why five investigations failed to find any evidence of coordination or conspiracy would be that there was no coordination or conspiracy to find. That theory is the most plausible by about a hundred fold and requires not a single assumption to be made. You simply have to accept the facts as we know them, at face value.

Jame's Comey's theory is that the President simply outsmarted the FBI, both chambers of Congress, and Special Counsel for nearly three years. Comey believes that Trump was able to conceal everything and control everyone involved, which prevented the guys in the white hats from finding all of the evidence of the dastardly deeds that the former FBI director is sure were committed. This theory does not reflect the facts as we know them, and requires you to refuse to accept them at all.

I am not sure that James Comey is right in the head. He probably truly believed that the President was corrupt and that it would just require the right amount of pressure on the right people before everything would just flood out into the open. When it didn't pan out, and people like Paul Manafort are serving what amounts to life sentences... does Comey stop to think that possibly Manafort never actually had information to provide? How would you feel if you deep down knew that you destroyed the reputation of the very FBI you served and loved over a partisan allegation that may not have been rooted in reality? Well, you would probably tweet pictures of yourself in the middle of a forest looking completely lost, because you would be certifiably insane!

Why would James Baker need to flip?

Why hasn't he denied it if it wasn't true?

Why is Schiff so desperate?

As Comey said - so many things to ponder. and boy has he been quiet.

Clapper said everything he did was ordered by the president.

Another question, exactly what was that?

Hopefully we will be getting answers. Barr looks pretty relaxed and determined.

And the president continues doing a great job.

The chief official White House photographer for former Presidents Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama suggested the Trump administration was posing for Saturday's stern-faced Situation Room picture in the wake of a U.S. military raid that resulted in the death of a major ISIS figurehead.

Pete Souza, the former director of the White House Photography Office, called the timestamp of the Situation Room picture into question Sunday morning. Souza inferred that it's very unlikely President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and several top administration officials and generals were actively monitoring the raid on ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's compound when the photograph was taken Saturday in Washington.

Actually Mueller should have recused himself.

And no special counsel should have ever been appointed.

But even the Mueller investigation found no American had ever colluded with Russians in the 2016 election.

But Hillary definitely did with Ukraine and the Steele dossier which relied on Russian input. And then she destroyed 30,000 emails after they were subpoenaed. funny how Mueller never investigated that whole linkage...

October 27, 2019 at 3:12 pm EDT

Lawfare:
“The eventual tone of Trump’s remarks… diminished the solemnity of the moment. This could have been a signature moment for the president, giving him a chance to offer a powerful message of purpose and unity.
Instead,Trump gloated that Baghdadi ‘died like a dog. He died like a coward’ and that he ‘spent his last moments in utter fear, in total panic and dread, terrified of the American forces bearing down on him.’ I hope all that is true, but of course there is no way to know Baghdadi’s feelings as he faced death, and such boastful speculation is unworthy of the seriousness these events deserve.

“Trump’s speech and his subsequent responses to reporters’ questions also meandered, with the president repeating himself and bringing in the Muslim ban, among other issues. He called the terrorists ‘losers’ and ‘frightened puppies,’ language more suitable for the playground than the White House.”

“Armed with that initial tip, the C.I.A. worked closely with Iraqi and Kurdish intelligence officials in Iraq and Syria to identify Mr. al-Baghdadi’s more precise whereabouts and to put spies in place to monitor his periodic movements, allowing American commandos to stage an assault Saturday in which President Trump said Mr. al-Baghdadi died.”

Again James...

It doesn't tell us how he "failed".

The job of a prosecutor is to determine whether or not there was criminal activity. By all regards, Mueller's probe was a 100% success. He got to the bottom of it and found no evidence of criminal conspiracy.

He (or someone reporting to him) wrote over 400 pages. More than anyone was technically required to ever see based on the Special Counsel laws and the protocol and regulations of the Department of Justice.

________

Any other Comey suggestions... whether it was in regards to how the report was released, or to what degree it was redacted... have nothing to do with whether or not Special Counsel did their job and made a determination of criminal activity.

If... as Mueller seems to be suggesting... the final report did not include enough incriminating information to make the public believe the President should be impeached....

And his suggestion was that the "mission" failed.

Then that concedes that the "Mission" was not to do what Special Counsel was supposed to do (determine criminal activity) - but rather in Comey's mind, the "mission" was to use the Special Counsel to turn public opinion against the President.

Which is a blatant obvious open admission that the Special Counsel that Comey prompted with his leaks was being used for political (not legal) purposes.

It's pretty simple James.

You can only be mad about what Comey is mad about IF you absolutely admit that it was about politics and turning public opinion.

By the letter of the law and by what a Special Counsel was designed BY LAW was completely successful. Special Counsel found no criminal "conspiracy or "collusion" as it was.

Moreover, the "confidential" letter to the AG was released to the public and Special Counsel was allowed to answer questions in front of a national audience by both House and Senate members.

The transparency went well beyond what the law required!

Congress writes a law giving executive branch the authority to set the terms and conditions of financial aid.

Then they want to impeach a President for using that authority to set terms and conditions of financial aid. Based on the argument that "they" have the sole "discretion" to determine what is a high crime or misdemeanor.

The argument is dubious at best, because the two terms (high crime = felony) (misdemeanor = misdemeanor) actually do have actual definitions in our criminal lawbook.
________

We have had three impeachments. All of them involved a real crime that was covered under a statute.

In this case the House is literally contradicting the law that they wrote and declaring it as a High Crime or Misdemeanor as it pertains to the bad yellow man.

WUSA reports that the family who owns the Washington Nationals, the Lerners, asked Major League Baseball that they not be put in a position to respond to any requests that President Trump sit with them during Game 5 of the World Series at Nationals Park in Washington, DC.

Too funny.

He didn't show up until the 4th inning and when his picture was posted on the big screen and the crowd boooooooooooed and shouted lock him up.

Baseball fans are not a bunch of liberals, most sports fans are quite conservative!

Middle class, usually majority white people, especially in baseball games.

cameras showed two banners unfurled by fans sitting in the second and third row of the stadium just to the left of home plate bearing the phrase "Veterans for impeachment"

Are you claiming that the house doesn't have the right to determine if the President has committed high crimes or misdemeanors??

no, you fucking moron.

what we're saying is that the house does not possess the right to make up high crimes and misdemeanors out of whole cloth where none exist.

iow, this is what you've been reduced to. you clowns are so desperate and so obsessed with removing this man from office and overturning the result of the last election that you are willing and eager to impeach him over ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

you literally want to make it up as you go along. you want to take a standard negotiating protocol with a foreign power and turn it into a crime. and you want to do it all in secret and abandon due process for the accused.

by your standard, every president going back to george washington could've been impeached.

so i suppose what we should do going forward is draft a set of boilerplate articles of impeachment and have them ready for the next president since this is the precedent you're setting. at precisely the moment the next president concludes their oath of office and inaugural speech, the speaker of the house should proceed to the dais and deliver the articles of impeachment to the incoming president. and then the proceedings begin. and i'm not sure how we as a nation conduct foreign policy since you've just criminalized the ability of our chief executive do do the nation's business in the realm of foreign affairs.

you dumb fucks have done what you always do alky. you're rushed headlong into a clusterfuck of your own making with zero regard for the consequences or long term implications and historical precedent.

all because "orange man bad."

behold the idiocy of the alky -

... the President broke the law as determined by the house.

it doesn't get more unconstitutional than that, folks.

laws? we don't need no stinkin' laws.

we're the house. we make it up as we go along.

i cannot wait for the next occurrence of a democrat president and republican house.

according to the alky, the house can impeach that president for anything, or nothing at all. as determined by the house.

whee!

Like the article I posted yesterday about the old white man party doing everything to suppress voting of people they don't like, the WA Post publishes this opinion for the scum bag republicans.....LOCK HIM UP!!!!! BWAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

MOBILE POLLING places that popped up on college campuses and other population-dense areas were “the most effective program we had,” Dana DeBeauvoir, the chief elections official in Travis County, Tex., told the New York Times. That would explain why Texas Republicans shut them down.
The Times reported last week that, as Texans head to the polls, it will be substantially harder for college students to vote. A new state law required all polling places to remain open for the state’s full 12-day early-voting period. Localities could not afford to keep the pop-up sites open that long, so colleges in Austin, Brownsville, Fort Worth and elsewhere have had to close them. That guarantees lower turnout among people whom Republicans do no want voting: Democratic-leaning students.
Early voting is meant to enable more people to vote: Shift workers, for example, who cannot wait in line at a polling place on a Tuesday can still have a voice. Texas’s law turns that vote-enabling system into a vote-suppressing weapon. Republicans throughout the country have embraced voter suppression as a strategy for party survival, and this is one more sad example.

itizens are citizens, whether they are 18 or 88. All should be encouraged to vote. But year in, year out, even jurisdictions not run by people seeking to discourage voting have trouble keeping lines reasonable, equipment functional and the experience less than excruciating. As 171 George Mason University students who recently had their registrations rejected can tell you, as The Post reported, registering from a campus address can be particularly difficult.
States should be trying to fix such problems, starting with competent staff and convenient polling locations and hours, rather than removing opportunities for eligible voters. Congress should require states to register people automatically when local government authorities have the information needed to do so — DMV records, for example.

And the Republican Party should stake its future on offering policies and candidates that can attract voters — not on keeping potential voters away from the polls.

Keep slurping rat you dumb fuck.....1 trillion debt this year and you just swallowed......idiot...

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trumps-tax-cuts-did-not-121500344.html

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) was marketed as once-in-a-generation tax reform that would unlock growth, boost investment in the US, and ultimately reduce deficits because of increased tax revenue.

The tax bill did accomplish a number of desirable things. It brought down the corporate rate (though by more than necessary), which was too high and was hurting our competitiveness. It brought our international tax system more in line with other developed nations and hopefully reversed the troubling trend of corporate inversions. And the reforms to the state and local tax deduction and home mortgage interest deduction were some of the most sensible and courageous tax changes we have seen in quite some time.

However, the shortcomings well outweigh the benefits. The pass-through provisions are a confusing hodgepodge that add more inequities and complexities to the code. The many expiring provisions add new uncertainties rather than increasing overall certainty, which was one of the driving forces behind tax reform. The lost revenues from the bill will add trillions to the national debt, at a time we should be bringing the debt trajectory down.

Policy-wise, this is the story of fiscal damage and a missed opportunity. But what we have seen since the passage of the tax bill is that though the fiscal damage is significant, the political economy damage may be just as large.

https://news.yahoo.com/ap-fact-check-trumps-exaggerations-172214931.html?.tsrc=bell-brknews

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump falsely boasted that he predicted Osama bin Laden's 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center and inaccurately asserted he had always opposed the war in Iraq in a news conference Sunday that often fell short on facts.

A look at some of the president's claims at the briefing, where he announced the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State group:

BIN LADEN

TRUMP: "I'm writing a book ... About a year before the World Trade Center came down, the book came out. I was talking about Osama bin Laden. I said, 'You have to kill him. You have to take him out.' Nobody listened to me." Trump added that people said to him, "'You predicted that Osama Bin Laden had to be killed, before he knocked down the World Trade Center.' It's true."

THE FACTS: It's not true.

His 2000 book, "The America We Deserve," makes a passing mention of bin Laden but did no more than point to the al-Qaida leader as one of many threats to U.S. security. Nor does he say in the book that bin Laden should have been killed.

As part of his criticism of what he considered Bill Clinton's haphazard approach to U.S. security as president, Trump wrote: "One day we're told that a shadowy figure with no fixed address named Osama bin Laden is public enemy Number One, and U.S. jetfighters lay waste to his camp in Afghanistan. He escapes back under some rock, and a few news cycles later it's on to a new enemy and new crisis."
