New York is it's own situation

So take a look at some numbers:

The national numbers have been pretty consistent. Approximately 84-85 percent of Americans tested come back as negative. 15-16  percent of Americans come back positive. Of those positive results, 14 percent end up hospitalized and about 1.7 percent end up dead.

  • New York is responsible right now for 43 percent of all positive results and 59 percent of all hospitalizations and 35% of all deaths.
  • In New York the amount of testing coming back positive is a stunning 33 percent. That is over  triple what the rest of the country is seeing.
  • In New York the percentage of those coming back positive are almost twice as likely to be hospitalized than those testing positive in the rest of the country.
  • If you look at the rest of the country and exclude the New York figures, the percentage of positive test results drops to 11 percent and the amount of those people hospitalized drops to 10%.

Now the good news coming out of New York is that there do not seem to be any more deaths than the rest of the country. In fact, their percentage of deaths are actually slightly lower than the percentage of deaths for the rest of the country. Not sure what to attribute that to at this point, but it might be nice to believe that their use of the experimental medications is helping.

It might also simply be that many, many more people are being tested.

Still the people being tested are the most suspected cases.

The people getting tested WANT to get tested when they have a fever or dry cough or difficulty breathing.

If I were a New Yorker, I would want a test quickly too if I experienced even a bit of any of that, especially all three.

Trump Extends Social Distancing Thru April
March 29, 2020 at 6:31 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

President Trump announced that his administration will extend social distancing guidelines until April 30 in an effort to stop the spread of coronavirus, which has now infected more than 130,000 Americans and killed nearly 2,500, Axios reports.

Said Trump:
“The modeling estimates that the peak in death rate is likely to hit in two weeks. So, I’ll say it again, the peak — the highest point of death rates, remember this — is likely to hit in two weeks. Nothing would be worse than declaring victory before the victory is won. That would be the greatest loss of all.”

He later told reporters his desire to end social distancing on Easter was “aspirational.”

New York City residents are not staying home. There are pictures. They're not listening to instructions.

Good morning, Trump sycophants!

It's really interesting what a turn around we have had here on this board. All of a sudden you who were saying that Fauci didn't actually predict there could be 100,000 or even 200,000 deaths-------have now changed your tune and are admitting that even Trump is saying that, so it must be true.

Interesting, how quickly you fall in line with your Messiah.

A month ago Trump was saying the number of cases would soon be down to zero. Now he's saying that "only" 100,000 deaths would be a tremendous victory!

More recently he was saying the nation would likely be open for business by Easter and churches would be packed. Now he's saying THAT prediction was only "aspirational" --- and now he's saying the epidemic will probably peak around Easter, and the nation sould be on on the way to recovery by June 1.

Mr. President, is that prediction based on any firm evidence that you have, or is it also only "aspirational" -- something you have again pulled out of your gut feelings and political preferences?

Ch, your Stable Genius Messiah is now giving you permission to admit that the situation is indeed VERY serious, AND that skeptical critics of him on the left have had good reasons to question his rosy "aspirational" claims.
