How did it come to pass that liberals root for people to die?

The COVID 'Spike' in Reopened Texas: CNN Gets It Wrong
(Sean Trende) On Sunday CNN ran a segment on the spread of COVID-19 in Texas. The news channel promoted it with the jarring tweet “Texas is seeing the highest number of new coronavirus cases and deaths just two weeks after it officially reopened.” The segment spotlighted 1,448 new cases and 58 new deaths, and noted the increased movement of people in the state according to cellphone data, illustrating that the public was increasingly out and about.
Why does the left hate people like Governor Noem?
While technically true, this information is horribly misleading, and to the extent CNN is trying to establish a causal connection between Texas’ reopening and the increase in coronavirus diagnoses and deaths in the Lone Star State, it is simply wrong. It is so wrong that it is difficult to give the benefit of the doubt here.

So it begs the question: What is the motivation behind this sort of reporting? Why is it that your liberals flock to people who demand the worst case scenarios. Why is it that liberals continue to underplay (or completely ignore) the demographics that demand this is a virus that pretty much only threatens the very elderly or those with serious medical issues?

Why do they root for failure in parts of the country that have not gotten on board with the idea that total and complete authoritative shut downs are absolutely necessary everywhere, and that any deviation is akin to inviting murder. Why, in the absence of evidence that this is true, do they basically make things up?

Since the beginning, the left has pushed the narrative that liberal Governors like Cuomo and Whitmer have done everything right, where as Governors like DeSantis, Abbot, and Noem were treated almost as if they were part of a criminal conspiracy to undermine all that is good and just. Now it's places like Georgia (and Governor Kemp) that are opening "too soon" that has grabbed the ire of these doomsayers.

For the life of me I cannot figure out why wanting a functioning economy and some degree of normalcy has become a partisan issue. Since when do you have to be a conservative to care about jobs and people's financial well being? If this it the new liberal normal, how can they justify spending money on anything other than healthcare, healthcare, and more healthcare? Obviously the economy is no longer important.

The bigger issue is that liberals have pretty much gotten this wrong (as have most of the experts). While the numbers may have panned out to be within the range originally thought to be expected, the demographic breakdown isn't. Try going back 10 weeks ago and telling people that all of the states that shut down completely would be the ones with the most people dying, and those with lax standards would have the least. Nobody would have bought it. If you demanded that only ten people under the age of 35 died of Covid-19 out of last 2311 overall deaths, they would have assumed you were joking (CDC numbers).

But the truth is the truth is the truth. Not sure why it makes liberals so mad, and why they spend to much raw energy and time attempting to disprove it.

There was a specific reason for President Trump’s sudden announcement on Monday that he was taking the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine. His goal was to undermine a whistleblower who had raised questions about the administration’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, a whistleblower who claimed that it was his skepticism about the utility of the drug that led to his firing. How could hydroxychloroquine be as dangerous as former top vaccine official Rick Bright suggested, Trump offered, given that he himself was using it?

The revelation quickly prompted reporters to ask what evidence Trump had that the drug was at all efficacious in addressing the virus and disease it causes, covid-19. Simple, Trump replied: Lots of people called him and said it worked.

“The only negative I’ve heard was the study where they gave it — was it the VA?” Trump said, referring to the Department of Veterans Affairs. “With, you know, people that aren’t big Trump fans gave it.” He then went on to express surprise at this perceived disloyalty from VA, given the legislation he had signed to support it. (The legislation he mentioned was in fact first signed by President Barack Obama.)

This idea that there was this study undercutting the utility of the drug Trump has been championing for two months clearly stuck with the president. Speaking to reporters Tuesday afternoon after a meeting with Republican senators, he again disparaged the study.

“If you look at the one survey, the only bad survey, they were giving it to people that were in very bad shape. They were very old. Almost dead,” Trump said. He described the study as “a Trump-enemy statement.”

A few hours later, again pressed on his use of the drug for an unproven purpose, Trump again suggested that opposition to it was simply political.

“There was a false study done where they gave it to very sick people, extremely sick people, people that were ready to die,” he said. “It was given by obviously not friends of the administration.” He later added that it “was a phony study and it’s very dangerous to do it.”

As is often the case, Trump is repeating one of his go-to lines even in a situation where it doesn’t really make sense. Every time someone on television criticizes him, that person is necessarily a never-Trumper. When administration officials raise questions about his actions or leadership? Never-Trumpers. The people who testified against him in his impeachment inquiry were never-Trumpers, even when they were apolitical or Republican. And, now, this study — necessarily a product of opposition to him and his administration.

It’s a

bizarre claim in general, that a team of seven doctors would conspire to study the efficacy of an antimalarial drug to undermine the president politically. But it’s an even more ridiculous claim when you consider how the study was completed.

The team of researchers from various institutions including the University of South Carolina and the University of Virginia used data on every person admitted to a VA hospital with covid-19 until April 11. They assessed whether the patients had been administered hydroxychloroquine, with or without the accompanying drug azithromycin. What they determined was that there was no identifiable improvement in outcome for those who received the drug and, in fact, that the drug was associated with an increased risk of death.

In other words, there was no cherry-picking of specific patients to identify those most likely to succumb to the illness. As VA Secretary Robert Wilkie pointed out during the Cabinet meeting, it was also not the case that this was a VA study.

“Researchers took VA numbers and they did not clinically review them. They were not peer-reviewed,” Wilkie said. “They did not even look at what the president just mentioned — the various co-morbidities that the patients that were referenced in that study had.”

That’s true, because the research was an after-the-fact assessment of outcomes. (Wilkie did not suggest that bias motivated the results.) It was also not the only study to find no obvious benefit from the drug.

Another study, looking at more than 1,400 patients in New York, also determined that hydroxychloroquine had no significant effect on improving patients’ conditions. A study in Brazil found an associated increase in deaths from the use of chloroquine, a drug related to hydroxychloroquine. Late last month, the Food and Drug Administration warned against the use of the drugs outside of a clinical setting, given concerns about dangerous heart-related side effects. (Asked Tuesday about the FDA’s guidance about use in hospitals, Trump said that was “not what I was told.”)

Again, there’s no evidence at all that the study was spurred by opposition to Trump. What’s more, there’s no evidence that the study was structured in a way that the results would reflect poorly on the medications. It is also not the case that this was the only study that failed to demonstrate efficacy of the medication.

However, Trump has decided the result is indicative of how opposition to his repeated promotion of hydroxychloroquine is somehow politically motivated. Because for this president, anyone who doesn’t agree with Trump completely almost necessarily opposes him entirely.

We can watch for these symptoms in Trump (except for the hair loss - since he wears a wig).
Hydroxychloroquine side effects:
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to hydroxychloroquine: (hives, difficult breathing, swelling in your face or throat) or a severe skin reaction (fever, sore throat, burning eyes, skin pain, red or purple skin rash with blistering and peeling).

Seek medical treatment if you have a serious drug reaction that can affect many parts of your body. Symptoms may include: skin rash, fever, swollen glands, muscle aches, severe weakness, unusual bruising, or yellowing of your skin or eyes.

Call your doctor at once if you have:

fast or pounding heartbeats, fluttering in your chest, shortness of breath, and sudden dizziness (like you might pass out);

a seizure;

yellowing of your eyes;

ringing in your ears, trouble hearing;

unusual mood changes;

severe muscle weakness, loss of coordination, underactive reflexes;

low blood cell counts - fever, chills, tiredness, sore throat, mouth sores, easy bruising, unusual bleeding, pale skin, cold hands and feet, feeling light-headed or short of breath; or

low blood sugar - headache, hunger, sweating, irritability, dizziness, fast heart rate, and feeling anxious or shaky.

Taking hydroxychloroquine long-term or at high doses may cause irreversible damage to the retina of your eye. Stop taking hydroxychloroquine and tell your doctor if you have:

blurred vision, trouble focusing;

distorted vision, blind spots;

trouble reading;

changes in your color vision;

hazy or cloudy vision;

seeing light flashes or streaks, seeing halos around lights; or

increased sensitivity to light.

Common hydroxychloroquine side effects include:

headache, dizziness;

nausea, vomiting, stomach pain;

loss of appetite, weight loss;

feeling nervous or irritable;

skin rash or itching; or

hair loss.

All of trumps travails are coming together in a massive message to the GOP ......its a dead white mans party that will follow trump and circle the drain into the abyss of ruin!!!!!

Just-released polls contain bad news for President Trump and his Senate allies, with Joe Biden expanding the electoral map to states that have long been safe bastions for the Republican Party.

Biden is solidifying his lead over Trump in Arizona, a state not won by a Democrat in a presidential race since Bill Clinton took it in 1996, according to a new survey by OH Predictive Insights. Biden leads Trump by 7 percentage points in Arizona. The poll has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

The same survey also had bad news for Senate Republican incumbent Martha McSally, who appears to be losing ground in her reelection bid against Democrat Mark Kelly. A former astronaut and the husband of former Rep. Gabby Giffords, Kelly now leads McSally by 13 points. A month earlier, the same poll showed Kelly ahead by 9 points.

In Georgia, Biden leads Trump by a single percentage point, 48 percent to 47 percent, according to a poll conducted by Civiqs/Daily Kos that was released Tuesday and has a margin of error of 3.1 percent.

An internal poll conducted last week by a group backing Georgia’s Republican Gov. Brian Kemp found Biden ahead of Trump by a margin of 47 percent to 46 percent. The poll had a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

Both polls showed Democrat Jon Ossoff running strong against incumbent GOP Sen. David Perdue. While Ossoff has yet to secure his party’s nomination, he leads Perdue by 2 percentage points

Trump proud about leading the world in virus cases!!!!! Idiots like the dumb fuck rat applaud the news like the stupid fucking idiot trump slurper he is!!!!!! Wonder if he will ever pull his head out of the morbidly obese white ass of donnie?????

resident Trump’s contention that the United States leading the world in confirmed coronavirus cases is “a badge of honor” drew condemnation and ridicule, with critics from both parties dismissing his claim that the still-increasing figure is a reflection of the nation’s test capacity.
Trump made his assertion Tuesday in response to a question from a reporter at a White House event, saying that he sees the more than 1.5 million confirmed cases in the United States “in a certain respect as being a good thing because it means our testing is much better.”
“So, I view it as a badge of honor. Really, it’s a badge of honor,” he said.
The United States has more than 30 percent of the world’s known coronavirus infections but accounts for less than 5 percent of the global population.
Harvard law professor Laurence H. Tribe was among the Trump critics who pounded on the president’s assertions, calling him “a ghoul and an idiot.”
“This is like calling a trail of corpses a badge of honor for the police department that let the serial murderer run free for months before shutting him down,” Tribe said on Twitter.

I hate to toot my own respirator, but I totally scooped the world on the story about President Trump taking hydroxychloroquine.
I deduced last month that he was taking high doses of the anti-malarial drug, because he was showing obvious side effects of the hydroxychloroquine cocktail he had been touting: Confusion. Aggression. Unusual behavior. Unsteadiness. Paranoia. Change in hair color. Difficulty speaking.
Now some are reacting with horror because he confirmed he’s actually taking the stuff (with a zinc chaser), which has been found to cause heart trouble but apparently is not effective against the coronavirus. Who knew that when Trump called hydroxychloroquine a “game changer,” the sport he had in mind was Russian roulette? House Speaker Nancy Pelosi speculated that the “morbidly obese” Trump is putting himself in danger. Fact-check: Mostly false! His obesity is garden-variety, not morbid. He has room for many more pills, supplements and tonics.
AD

Full coverage of the coronavirus pandemic

That’s a good thing, because Trump ordered about 30 million doses of hydroxychloroquine, now of dubious value. But he shouldn’t limit himself to his favorite drug. At this moment, his highest service to the country would be to commit himself to personally testing other unproven treatments for covid-19.
The president has botched the pandemic response, and he is now botching the economic recovery. But he could put his talents to use by serving as a full-time lab animal, a national guinea pig, a cavy-in-chief. He probably won’t find a cure, but Trump, by acting as a one-man FDA, would do something almost as helpful: Distract himself from doing yet more damage to the country.
First, Trump will want to take up smoking, or at least slap on a nicotine patch; French researchers think that will prevent the virus.
AD

Next, he’ll want to fumigate the Oval Office by burning the harmala herb, an anti-viral touted by Turkmenistan, and fill the air with volcanic ash from the Philippines.
He’ll quaff a bitterroot tonic from Madagascar called Covid Organics, together with a blend of “purgative” herbal extracts from China said to combat the “noxious dampness” responsible for the pandemic.
And of course, he’ll go through a couple of bottles of his favorite quarterback Tom Brady’s “immunity blend supplement,” out this week, featuring larch tree extract and elderberry. “You’re gonna love it,” Brady says.
You know what else Trump will love? Covering himself in cow dung and drinking cow urine. Some in India believe this to be particularly effective if done while performing a ritual in front of a fire.
However, some in the Middle East believe camel urine to be more effective as an antiviral; Trump will be able to settle this dispute conclusively.

“This is my second step of keeping my promises,” said Poroshenko.

ts 'Genius' Donald Trump Jr. With Sarcastic Over-The-Top Praise
Radio icon Howard Stern fired another salvo in his escalating war of words with the Trump family, this time hitting back at Donald Trump Jr.

After Stern claimed last week that the president hates his own supporters, Trump Jr. fired back that the SiriusXM host was out of touch with his own audience ― and attempted to dismiss him as “Hollywood Howard” and “acting like Hillary Clinton.”

Stern on Tuesday offered a mocking surrender.

“I can’t argue with him, that kid is such a success,” Stern said, according to the New York Daily News. “He is such a wit, he is such a genius. He would have made a fortune if he wasn’t under his father’s thumb. Game over. You can’t argue with a genius like that.”

He added:

“The way this kid has risen in the business world and just taken it by storm ... to be criticized by him is damaging. I would list all of Junior’s accomplishments right now, but I only have a three-hour show.”

Stern also taunted Trump Jr.’s hunting exploits, which have included pictures of him posing with a knife and an elephant’s tail.

“You can’t argue with that kind of bravery,” Stern mocked. “Even the guys in Afghanistan right now are going, ‘Jesus Christ, what a kid.’”

And he took aim at Trump Jr.’s relationship with his father.

“I only pray to God that his comments will impress his father and his father will give him love,” he said. “He’ll get some good attention.”

The president’s son responded on Twitter by claiming more people would see his tweet than listen to Stern’s radio show.

Stern was once friendly with the president, who was a regular guest on the radio show years ago. Last week Stern suggested he’d be happy to join Trump at Mar-a-Lago again ― under one condition.

President Trump, approaching his longest stretch without a political rally since he announced his candidacy five years ago, has taken to blaming Democrats for grounding his campaign.
But even as several states begin relaxing their coronavirus restrictions, Trump has not scheduled any rallies in Republican-led states — and his campaign has not reached out to governors in swing states to inquire about holding large political events.
The claim of politically motivated closures was outlined most directly by Trump’s son, Eric, who accused Democrats of trying to strip the president of his greatest reelection weapon.
“They’re trying to deprive him of his greatest asset, which is the fact that the American people love him — the fact that he is relatable, the fact that he can go out there and can draw massive crowds,” Eric Trump told Fox News’s Jeanine Pirro on Saturday, echoing the president’s charge. “Joe Biden can’t get 10 people in a room. My father is getting 50,000 in a room. And they want to do everything they can to stop it.”
AD

The president has accused Democrats of “playing politics” with their plans to reopen their economies. He has also said that Biden, the former vice president and presumptive Democratic nominee, is benefiting from the closures because they have kept him out of the spotlight.
Biden defends his decision to campaign from home, calls Trump reckless

And now, despite a pandemic that has killed more than 90,000 people in the United States and forced economic shutdowns, the president has said he will soon be filling arenas. But that prediction might be more optimism than reality, raising the possibility that Trump will be unable to deploy his trademark political events for some time even as he seeks to project a return to normalcy from pandemic life as part of his reelection campaign.

Trump’s Gamble on Reopening May Not Pay Off

“The oddest thing in electoral politics over the past few weeks is what appears to be absolute, and unfounded, confidence among some Republican strategists that there’s a trade-off between public health and the economy, and that what matters for President Trump’s re-election is the economy…

“Almost every relevant expert who has commented publicly has said that the economy can’t be repaired until the virus is at least somewhat under control… Open too fast and you could risk outbreaks that force a second round of shutdowns; open too slowly and you might test people’s patience with distancing measures.

“But while tough choices remain about managing the pandemic over time, these aren’t really choices between the economy and public health. And more to the point, the whole electoral conversation is wrong: There’s no reason to think that reviving the economy by tolerating more lives lost — even if it were possible — would be the right electoral choice for the Trump campaign.”

On the vaccine front there is some good and exciting news:

Moderna reports positive data on early-stage coronavirus vaccine trial, shares surge

mRNA-1273 elicits an immune response of the magnitude caused by natural infection starting with a dose as low as 25 [micrograms],” Moderna chief medical officer Dr. Tal Zaks said in a statement.

mRNA means messenger RNA and it's an exciting new technique in developing vaccines over the tradition method of using dead virus proteins to create the vaccine.

The advantages of this method is quicker and safer development and deployment of the vaccine with less side effects than the traditional vaccines.

The COVID-19 vaccine could be ready for deployment mid-winter of this year (just in time for the predicted second wave of the disease). If this is true, it would eclipse the record development and deployment by 3 years.

And all of it would be credited to Donald Trump's logistics acumen and leadership.

Trump threatens to withhold aid to 2 states over expanded voting by mail

(note: this has nothing to do with T. Goddard
I found it prominently displayed on internet)

President Trump on Wednesday threatened to halt federal funding to Michigan and Nevada over the distribution of absentee ballots in those states amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak that has left more than 90,000 Americans dead.

“Breaking: Michigan sends absentee ballots to 7.7 million people ahead of Primaries and the General Election,” Trump tweeted. “This was done illegally and without authorization by a rogue Secretary of State. I will ask to hold up funding to Michigan if they want to go down this Voter Fraud path!”

Both Michigan and Nevada are considered potential swing states in the November election.

The president followed up with a tweet tagging Russ Vought, the acting director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget; Trump’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows; and the U.S. Treasury Department.

Trump’s threat to halt funding was issued hours after floods forced the evacuation of about 10,000 people in central Michigan. He didn’t specify what kinds of federal aid he would stop, or cite a legal basis for the action.

The president is scheduled to visit a Ford ventilator-assembly plant in Ypsilanti, Mich., on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced a plan to send applications for absentee ballots to all registered voters in the state ahead of its elections in August and November.

There have been more than 50,000 confirmed coronavirus cases reported in Michigan to date, and more than 5,000 deaths.

“By mailing applications, we have ensured that no Michigander has to choose between their health and their right to vote,” Benson said in a statement. “Voting by mail is easy, convenient, safe and secure, and every voter in Michigan has the right to do it.”

Under normal circumstances, it is up to voters to request an absentee ballot, which are restricted to those voters who are traveling or temporarily residing away from their usual residence. About a third of the states require a specific reason to vote by mail. More than half allow voters to request mail-in ballots without one.

Benson quickly responded to Trump on Twitter.

Jocelyn Benson

@JocelynBenson
Hi! I also have a name, it’s Jocelyn Benson. And we sent applications, not ballots. Just like my GOP colleagues in Iowa, Georgia, Nebraska and West Virginia.

The president made the same threat against Nevada, again raising without evidence the specter of voter fraud.

“State of Nevada ‘thinks’ that they can send out illegal vote by mail ballots, creating a great Voter Fraud scenario for the State and the U.S.,” Trump tweeted. “They can’t! If they do, ‘I think’ I can hold up funds to the State. Sorry, but you must not cheat in elections.”

NEW QUINNIPIAC POLL SAYS
Biden Holds Double-Digit Lead Nationally

May 20, 2020 at 2:03 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard

A new Quinnipiac poll finds Joe Biden leads Donald Trump in the presidential race nationally,
50% to 39%.

Trump’s job approval is
42% to 53%,
and on the coronavirus response,
41% to 56%.

Said pollster Tim Malloy:
“What does the 11 point Biden lead tell us? At best for Team Trump, it says voter confidence in President Trump is shaky. At worst for them, as coronavirus cases rise, Trump’s judgement is questioned – and November looms.”
______________

According to that Quinnipiac poll:

On Biden vs. Trump
Trump has an eleven point deficit.

On job approval,
Trump has an eleven point deficit.

On virus response,
Trump has a fifteen point deficit.
