"Host Judy Woodruff asked, “Are you convinced that the White House is not trying to discredit you, Dr. Fauci?”
Fauci responded, “I think you’ve got to be careful when you say the White House, there are — the White House, in general, is not trying to. Certainly, the president is not. I certainly believe that Mark Meadows is not. What happened with Peter Navarro and that editorial, I can’t even comment on that. That just is beyond my comprehension why he did that. But I do not believe that the White House is trying to discredit me, no I don’t.”
And the goat fucking idiot is the court jester and asshole!!!!!! bWAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! BTW....Fauci is a world renowned scientists which you complain by proxy is always wrong.....That is what Navaro wrote and is part of the inner circle of WH assholes....BWAAAAAAA!!!!!
Fauci praising Cuomo should be the final straw. Not only does NY account for 1/4 all CV-19 deaths, the state acted as a super spreader (probably still is). Cuomo should be thrown out of office and investigated, not commended by anyone. #FireFauci https://amgreatness.com/2020/07/17/the-fatal-conceit-of-dr-fauci/
LOL Trump can't "fire" Fauci even though he wants to because the truth-speaking doctor is just too popular with he public. So Fauci has the advantage of saying exactly what he really thinks and Trump can't do a freaking thing about it.
A new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds Joe Biden is ahead of Donald Trump in the presidential race by 15 points among registered voters, 55% to 40%.
However, among likely voters Biden’s margin reduces to ten points, 54% to 44%.
Trump’s job approval is now 39% approval to 57% DISapproval.
Key finding: “Trump’s recent decline in support is concentrated in states that have averaged at least 30 daily coronavirus cases per 100,000 residents over the past week, a group that includes Florida, Texas, Arizona and Georgia.” _________

We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Public health authorities define a significant exposure to Covid-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic Covid-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes). The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp2006372#.XtFKO1K307A.
people keep leaving out the sustained interaction.
and incubation that masks provide if the Covid is trapped inside...
There has been no real study done on masks and Fauci doesn't see the need... probably fears the result.

Researcher: coronavirus can live on some masks for up to seven days "Treat it like a biohazard."
TUCSON, Ariz. — New city and county wide mandates require many of us to wear masks in public, but researchers said it's important to treat them like a biohazard.
Professor, Department Chair of Community, Environment and Policy at the University of Arizona Public Health College Kelly Reynolds said while in public, the virus can get on the front of the mask and live on it for several days.
"By design, the mask could really be contaminated, so we recommend that people think of there masks as a biohazard," Reynolds said. https://www.kgun9.com/news/coronavirus/researcher-coronavirus-can-live-on-some-masks-for-up-to-seven-days

Despite a number of serious missteps, Fauci remains unrepentant. In fact, Fauci claims the catastrophic lockdown he advised the president to support in late March didn’t go far enough.
“If you look at the European countries, they shut down about 90 to 95 percent of the country,” Fauci explains. “Whereas when we shut down, the calculation is that we shut down about 50 percent.” Where he gets that figure, no one knows, but shooting from the hip is a Fauci specialty. And he argues again for a “pause” in states moving forward with reopening.
Asked about his changing advice on face masks, Fauci deftly spins his pivot to make himself look courageous, not clueless. He told O’Donnell that he doesn’t “regret anything I said then because, in the context of the time in which I said it, it was correct.” Fauci insists that he warned people back in March not to use masks in order to preserve a sparse supply for health care workers.
But that simply is not true. During a March 8 interview on “60 Minutes,” Fauci’s main argument against masks wasn’t based on PPE shortages but because face coverings offer a false sense of security without doing anything to stop the virus’ spread.
“Wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better,” he said, “but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is. And often there are unintended consequences because people keep fiddling with the mask and they keep touching their face.”
Fauci, at the time, was correct about the uselessness of masks. Nothing has changed over the past few months except irrational demands by busybodies, both in public and private, to “wear a mask!” There is no science to support the effectiveness of masks related to the spread of COVID-19, let alone the usefulness of homemade coverings made out of cheap dyed cloth to advertise a sports team, as Fauci did in a recent congressional hearing.
(The good doctor told Georgetown students during a video conference this week—he’s really making the rounds—that he opposes a controlled study to determine whether masks specifically halted the spread of coronavirus versus other general viruses. “I would not want to do a randomized controlled study because that would mean having people not wear masks and see if they do better,” Fauci said. Science!)
In a one-on-one interview with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday, Fauci continued to push the panic porn on face masks. The guidance has “evolved,” Fauci explained, “as we get more data.” Now, Fauci demands, everyone should wear face coverings at all times, even outside, because he stated, without evidence, that asymptomatic people can spread the disease by simply breathing freely outside.
Absurd.
There’s no getting around the fact that the Trump White House created this media monster. Early on, Fauci appeared to be a reasoned voice of expertise, refusing to fuel the hysteria that surrounded the pandemic. In fact, in January, he assured Americans not to be overly panicked about coronavirus; in February, he wrote a paper that concluded coronavirus was no more deadly than a severe flu.
So what changed?
The spotlight is a hard thing to surrender, especially in the twilight of one’s career. Sticking with the legitimate science while refusing to play the media’s game of gotcha against Donald Trump doesn’t exactly get one invited on “The Daily Show” or played by Brad Pitt on “Saturday Night Live” or considered a heartthrob by The Atlantic. In the process, unfortunately, the country is nearly unrecognizable from what it was just four months ago. Meanwhile Fauci continues to show no compassion for those whose lives have been irreversibly upended.
Pompeo Being Investigated for ‘Questionable’ Activities
The whistleblower complaint into Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s allegedly “questionable activities” seen by the McClatchy Report shows that repeated attempts were made to advise legal advisers about his behavior.
The whistleblower also promised new evidence to back up allegations against Pompeo according to the complaint, which was redacted in part because of an ongoing inquiry, which is the first time such an inquiry has been confirmed.
Said the whistleblower: “I directly witnessed much of the behavior.” _________

Trump Challenges Biden to Sit for Fox News Interview
President Trump, in an interview Sunday with Fox News’ Chris Wallace, questioned former Vice President Joe Biden’s capacity to do a similarly tough interview, The Hill reports.
Said Trump: “Let Biden sit through an interview like this, he’ll be on the ground crying for mommy. He’ll say ‘mommy, mommy, please take me home.'” ___________
Poor desperate Trump He and his handlers keep trying to get something they can use to damage Biden, and it's notworking.
Other-blamers instinctively seek out those willing to be controlled, manipulated, or intimidated. This sets up relationships with submissive people who will not challenge, correct, or blame them. Dictators throughout history have surrounded themselves with a coterie of family members and sycophants who avoid questioning the leader for fear of his angry retribution.
He cares far more about sheltering his fragile psyche than doing what is right for the country. Trump’s lack of empathy has been on display for decades, with well-documented bigotry, greed, name-calling, intimidation, and vindictiveness. Because he is in emotional survival mode, Trump fails to notice that his ranting press conferences or bullying tweets are destabilizing. His goal is merely to lash out so he can feel better about himself in that moment. Trump has no concern that his divisive hate speech leads many to fear for their safety and liberty. He is unconcerned about the long-term effect on the country. He is too busy being right at any cost to notice that his lies and accusations are damaging his relationship with the citizens he is leading.
Placing high value on personal loyalty, surrounding themselves with “yes men.” Trump relies almost exclusively on family members as advisers, even though none has government experience. • Isolating their partners and often convincing their victims that others do not have their best interests at heart. Throughout the campaign, Trump created an “us-versus-them” mentality in his followers, belittling anyone who might weaken his hold on those followers’ hearts and minds. • Being attracted to power and tending to misuse it. They use an authoritarian style of speaking that gets others to doubt reality. Trump boldly repeats lies so that the truth has little opportunity to flourish.
This narcissistic president is doing what all narcissists do: sucking the air out of the room. When in relationship with an Other-blamer, one must spend one’s time and energy arguing about the arguing, rather than living peacefully and productively. Trump will continue to have a toxic effect at the individual and global level, not just through his harmful, ill-considered policy decisions, but through increased anxiety and the diversion of attention from other issues.

The famous folk singer Woody Guthrie, who wrote “This Land Is Your Land,” was a tenant of Mr. Trump’s Beach Haven apartments for two years. In the early 1950s, he composed two songs that address his disgust with the racist practices of Fred Trump that he witnessed. Here are some of his lyrics from the songs he wrote: “I suppose Old Man Trump knows just how much Racial Hate he stirred up in the blood-pot of human hearts when he drawed that color line here at his Eighteen hundred family project.… Beach Haven looks like heaven where no black ones come to roam! No, no, no! Old Man Trump! Old Beach Haven ain’t my home!”
Here is how George Orwell, in 1984, imagined the exploitation of those most subject to intoxication with an authoritarian leader like Trump: In a way, the world-view of the Party imposed itself most successfully on people incapable of understanding it. They could be made to accept the most flagrant violations of reality, because they never fully grasped the enormity of what was demanded of them … They simply swallowed everything.

Fact check: Disability rights and face mask requirements Ohio veteran, 37, who went viral for refusing to wear a mask, died of COVID-19 JOSHUA BOTE | USA TODAY | 6:44 am EDT July 17, 2020
A new report suggests that wearing a cloth mask doesn't just protect others from COVID-19, it can protect you as well. USA TODAY An Ohio man who died due to complications from COVID-19 has drawn criticism for his staunch refusal to wear a mask earlier in the pandemic.
Richard Rose III, an Army veteran who spent nine years in the United States Army according to his obituary, died on July 4. He was 37.
Rose’s death gained notoriety on social media after expressing that he was “not buying a (expletive) mask” less than three months before his death.
“I’ve made it this far by not buying into that damn hype,” he said in a post published April 28.
2004, an Illinois state senator named Barack Obama delivered an eloquent appeal to national unity at the Democratic convention in Boston:
There’s not a liberal America and a conservative America—there’s the United States of America. There’s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America. The pundits like to slice and dice our country into red states and blue states; red states for Republicans, blue states for Democrats. But I’ve got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the blue states, and we don’t like federal agents poking around our libraries in the red states. We coach Little League in the blue states and have gay friends in the red states. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and patriots who supported it. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is refusing to publicly commit to accepting the results of the upcoming White House election, recalling a similar threat he made weeks before the 2016 vote, as he scoffs at polls showing him lagging behind Democrat Joe Biden. Trump says it's too early to make such an ironclad guarantee. “I have to see. Look ... I have to see,” Trump told moderator Chris Wallace during a wide-ranging interview on ”Fox News Sunday." “No, I’m not going to just say yes. I’m not going to say no, and I didn’t last time either.” It is remarkable that a sitting president would express less than complete confidence in the American democracy's electoral process. But for Trump, it comes from his insurgent playbook of four years ago, when in the closing stages of his race against Hillary Clinton, he said he would not commit to honoring the election results if the Democrat won. Pressed during an October 2016 debate about whether he would abide by the voters' will, Trump responded that he would “keep you in suspense.” Trump has seen his presidential popularity erode over his handing of the coronavirus pandemic and in the aftermath of nationwide protests centered on racial injustice that erupted after George Floyd's death in Minneapolis nearly two months. Trump contends that a series of polls that show his popularity eroding and Biden holding an advantage are faulty. He believes Republican voters are underrepresented in such surveys. “First of all, I’m not losing, because those are fake polls,” Trump said in the taped interview, which aired Sunday. "They were fake in 2016 and now they’re even more fake. The polls were much worse in 2016. ”
hey BWAA, remember the insurmountable lead hillary had in the run up to the 2016 election?
Why don't you post the link and refresh my memory......BWAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
Here is my recollection asshole...
But some people have dismissed Biden’s lead by pointing out that Hillary Clinton also led in most polls of the 2016 election (Clinton, obviously, ended up losing to Trump). While this is true, Clinton’s lead was much smaller. Applying our current polling-average methodology to 2016 polls, Clinton led national polls by an average of about 4.0 points four months before the 2016 election, and 3.8 points on Election Day itself. So while a normal-sized polling error was enough to throw the 2016 election to Trump, it would take a much bigger — and much unlikelier — polling error for Trump to be ahead right now.
STEPHANOPOULOS: That's exactly what the White House says. They say it's a book of falsehoods that you're writing out of financial self-interest. Basically, you're lying for money.
TRUMP: It makes perfect sense that they would say that. Projection is a powerful thing. But if I had wanted money or revenge, I would've done this ten years ago, when it was infinitely safer. And he was still a very public figure. But neither one of those things interested me. I was living my life. I was beyond -- you know, well beyond what had happened 20 years ago with my family. And it would've served no purpose, other than getting revenge or maybe making some money.
STEPHANOPOULOS: And what do you say to the people who say, "America knew exactly what they were doing when they elected Donald Trump. He's kind of an open book"? What don't they know?
TRUMP: Yeah, I don't think that's at all true. Because outside of New York, I don't think people really quite understood the truth behind his business record and his financial failures, which are legion and serial. Beyond that, it was such a complex election, there was so much going on that -- I don't think the choices -- that people had to make were necessarily based on an honest appraisal. You know, there was so much interference from so many different sources. And the other thing that I think is really important to realize -- and that I certainly didn't realize before 2016 -- was just how enabled he would be. Which maybe I should've seen coming, 'cause --
STEPHANOPOULOS: Well, it's one of the things you write about. You say that --
TRUMP: Yeah.
STEPHANOPOULOS: -- basically, he was enabled -- institutionalized, is your word, his whole life. What did you mean by that?
TRUMP: As I say, there's a through-line from the house to Trump Management, which was my grandfather's company in Brooklyn, to the Trump Organization, which my grandfather helped Donald set up in Manhattan, to the White House. And those are all situations and circumstances in which Donald has always been protected and continues to be protected from his inadequacies, from his incompetence, from his lack of knowledge, from his failures.
And he's always had support of more powerful people. He's always had people protecting him from his mistakes, or from people who would try to hold him account. And he's always been amply financed. So you know, as I also write, how do we gauge this man's ability to function in the real world, as he's never really had to? And that, to me, is quite terrifying.
STEPHANOPOULOS: You're a trained clinical psychologist.
TRUMP: Yes.
STEPHANOPOULOS: You come to the conclusion he's a narcissist.
TRUMP: I avoid -- I explicitly avoid diagnosing him.
STEPHANOPOULOS: I was gonna ask about. Do you have any qualms --
TRUMP: Sure.
STEPHANOPOULOS: -- as a psychologist, laying out the possible things that he could be suffering from?
TRUMP: No. I think it's useful, especially since so many other people have done it. And I thought it was important to address that -- since it has been such an important issue -- especially given the Goldwater rule -- versus the duty to warn that a psychologist and psychiatrist have been grappling with.
So I wanted to address all of that without explicitly saying, "This is his diagnosis." He is not my patient. He's never been my patient. I do, however, have access to information about him that nobody else has had. So it was a lot easier for me to put the diagnoses that are out there in context of his developmental history.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Boil it down. What's the single most important thing you think the country needs to know about your uncle?
TRUMP: He's utterly incapable of leading this country. And it's dangerous to allow him to do so.
PoliticoPlaybook July 19, 2020 THE BIG GET … CHRIS WALLACE spoke to President DONALD TRUMP on “FOX NEWS SUNDAY”: WALLACE: “California locking down again. Florida, deadliest day of the entire pandemic. Hospitals at capacity at a number of places around the country. Shortages of testing, shortages of personal protective equipment for nurses and doctors. A lot of people say this is because we don’t have a national plan. You talk about states. We don’t have a national plan. Do you take responsibility for that?”
TRUMP: “Look, I take responsibility always for everything because it’s ultimately my job, too. I have to get everybody in line. Some governors have done well, some governors have done poorly. They're supposed to have supplies they didn't have. I supplied everybody.”
TRUMP ON DR. ANTHONY FAUCI : “He’s a little bit of an alarmist. That’s OK. A little bit of an alarmist. … A little bit of an alarmist. Let’s -- let me just say. Dr. Fauci at the beginning -- and again, I have a great relationship with him. I spoke with him at length yesterday. Dr. Fauci at the beginning said, ‘This will pass. Don’t worry about it. This will pass.’ He was wrong. Dr. Fauci said, ‘Don’t ban China. Don’t ban China.’ I did. He then admitted that I was right.”
HE’LL PROBABLY CAVE, BUT FOR PURPOSES OF POSTERITY … ON PHASE 4/5: WALLACE: “What about the payroll tax cut?” TRUMP: “I want to see it. I want to see it.” WALLACE: “And if it isn’t in the bill?” TRUMP: “I’ll have to see but, yeah, I would consider not signing it if we don’t have a payroll tax cut, yes. “
ON RACISM IN AMERICA … WALLACE: “Meanwhile, the George Floyd murder has reignited the issue of racism in policing in this country. I want to give you a couple of statistics. Nationwide blacks are twice as likely, fewer in absolute numbers, but in terms of per capita, blacks are twice as likely to be shot and killed by police as whites are. In Minneapolis, over the last five years, police used force against blacks at a rate seven times that against whites. Can you understand why blacks would be angry at that?
TRUMP: “Of course I do. Of course I do. Many whites are killed also. You have to say that.”
TRUMP: “I mean, many, many whites are killed. I hate the sad -- but this is going on for decades. This is going on for a long time, long before I got here. You know, if you look at what’s gone on in Portland, those are anarchists and we’ve taken a very tough stand. If we didn’t take a stand in Portland, you know we’ve arrested many of these leaders. If we didn’t take that stand, right now you would have a problem like you, you -- they were going to lose Portland. So let’s see…”
TRUMP ON BIDEN: “Biden can't put two sentences together. They wheel him out. He goes up -- he repeats -- they ask him questions. He reads a teleprompter and then he goes back into his basement. You tell me the American people want to have that in an age where we're in trouble with other nations that are looking to do numbers on us.”
WALLACE: “No, I'm going to ask you a direct question about Joe Biden. Is Joe Biden senile?”
TRUMP: “I don’t want to say that. I’d say he’s not competent to be president. To be president, you have to be sharp and tough and so many other things. He doesn't even come out of his basement. They think, ‘Oh this is a great campaign.’ So he goes in, I’ll then make a speech, it’ll be a great speech, and some young guy, starts writing, ‘Vice President Biden said this, this, this, this.’ He didn’t say it. Joe doesn't know he's alive, OK? He doesn't know he’s alive. Do the American people want that?”
-- TRUMP: “Let Biden sit through an interview like this, he’ll be on the ground crying for mommy. He’ll say mommy, mommy, please take me home.”
WALLACE on the mental acuity test that TRUMP brags about acing: “It’s not -- well it’s not that hardest test. They have a picture and it says ‘what’s that’ and it’s an elephant.”
AND A NEWS CYCLE STARTS ANEW … WALLACE: “But can you give a, can you give a direct answer you will accept the election?” TRUMP: “I have to see. Look, you -- I have to see. No, I’m not goin

Hillary Clinton has a 2-point edge over Donald Trump with less than a week before the election.
That’s according to a new national Fox News Poll of likely voters conducted Tuesday-Thursday.
In the four way race, Clinton tops Trump by a 45-43 percent margin. She was up by three points a week ago (44-41 percent) and by six in mid-October (45-39 percent). Gary Johnson gets 5 percent and Jill Stein two percent. Only four percent are undecided.
The HuffPost presidential forecast model gives Democrat Hillary Clinton a 98.2 percent chance of winning the presidency. Republican Donald Trump has essentially no path to an Electoral College victory.
Clinton’s win will be substantial, but not overwhelming. The model projects that she’ll garner 323 electoral votes to Trump’s 215.
President Donald Trump wouldn’t say whether he will accept the results of the general election in November during an interview with “Fox News Sunday,” claiming again without evidence that the process is rigged before any votes have been cast. Host Chris Wallace asked Trump if he was a good loser, to which the president responded that he is not. “But are you gracious?” Wallace pressed. “You don’t know until you see,” Trump said. “It depends. I think mail-in voting is going to rig the election. I really do.”

Adolf Twitter's not going to accept his defeat in the next election
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is refusing to publicly commit to accepting the results of the upcoming White House election, recalling a similar threat he made weeks before the 2016 vote, as he scoffs at polls showing him lagging behind Democrat Joe Biden. Trump says it's too early to make such an ironclad guarantee.

I’m not going to say no, and I didn’t last time either.” The Biden campaign responded: "The American people will decide this election. And the United States government is perfectly capable of escorting trespassers out of the White House.”
Trump also hammered the Pentagon brass for favoring renaming bases that honor Confederate military leaders — a drive for change spurred by the national debate about race after George Floyd's death. “I don’t care what the military says,” the commander in chief said.
The president described the nation's top infectious diseases expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, as a “a little bit of an alarmist” about the coronavirus pandemic, and Trump stuck to what he had said back in February — that the virus is “going to disappear.” On Fox, he said, “I'll be right eventually.” The United States tops the global death toll list with over 140,000 and confirmed infections, with 3.7 million.
It is remarkable that a sitting president would express less than complete confidence in the American democracy's electoral process. But for Trump, it comes from his insurgent playbook of four years ago, when in the closing stages of his race against Hillary Clinton, he said he would not commit to honoring the election results if the Democrat won.
As part of a hour-long sit-down interview, Trump also said that he disagrees with the assessment by Dr. Robert Redfield, the director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, who said at a news conference this week that "if all of us would put on a face covering now for the next four weeks, six weeks, we could drive this epidemic to the ground."

No, I’m not going to just say yes. I’m not going to say no, and I didn’t last time either.”

Joe Biden is the preferred candidate to handle the coronavirus pandemic and he's opened up a 15-point lead over President Trump, an ABC News/Washington Post poll published this morning finds.
The new polls show that the former vice President Biden has a substantial lead in the new ABC poll of registered voters who are most likely to vote in November.
New polls show Joe Biden is winning suburbanites by a historic margin Analysis by Harry Enten, CNN Updated Jul 19, 2020 (CNN) - The new ABC News/Washington Post poll is the latest to show former Vice President Joe Biden on a roll. He leads President Donald Trump 55% to 40% among registered voters. (It's a slightly tighter 54% to 44% among likely voters). The poll comes on top of other surveys last week from Fox News, NBC News/Wall Street Journal and Quinnipiac University giving Biden anywhere from an 8 to 15 point advantage. Biden's advantage in the polls is most evident in the suburbs, where he is earning a historic amount of support for a Democrat. Biden is up by a 52% to 43% margin among suburban voters in the ABC News/Washington Post poll. View 2020 presidential election polling Other polls in the last month show Biden in as good or even better position among suburban voters. The latest Fox News poll has Biden with 49% to 38% lead. Quinnipiac University poll puts Biden ahead by a 56% to 34% margin with suburbanites. The NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist Poll has Biden beating Trump 60% to 35% among suburban voters.

BTW.,.,..the ball less wonder questions the veracity of that poll and all the rest as being over sampled for D's without providing proof.!!!! Typical of the GOP desperation defending trump!!!!!!!!!
The President of the Confederacy said this to make the racist rodent bastard happy.
Trump defended his opposition to removing Confederate symbols in an interview with "Fox News Sunday," telling host Chris Wallace that the flag does not offend him and that for many people it "represents the South."
Pressed on the issue of military bases, Trump again said he would consider vetoing the National Defense Authorization Act and dismissed the fact that military leaders support renaming them.
"I don't care what the military says. I'm supposed to make the decision," he said.
,So we catch Obama & Biden, not to even mention the rest of their crew, SPYING on my campaign, AND NOTHING HAPPENS? I hope not! If it were the other way around, 50 years for treason. NEVER FORGET!!!!
New York Times: INISIDE THE FAILURE: 5 Takeaways on Trump’s Effort to Shift Responsibility
WASHINGTON — President Trump and his top aides decided to shift primary responsibility for the coronavirus response to the states during a critical period of weeks in mid-April, eagerly seizing on overly optimistic predictions that the pandemic was fading so the president could reopen the economy and focus on his re-election, a New York Times investigation found.
The investigation revealed that critical decisions about the handling of the virus during that crucial period were made not by the better known coronavirus task force, but by a small group of White House aides who convened each morning in the office of Mark Meadows, the president’s chief of staff.
One of their goals: to justify declaring victory in the fight against the virus. In that effort they frequently sought validation from Dr. Deborah L. Birx, a highly regarded infectious disease expert, who was the chief evangelist in the West Wing for the idea that infections had peaked and the virus was fading quickly.
Inside Trump’s Failure: The Rush to Abandon Leadership Role on the Virus
Despite warnings from state officials and other public health experts, Mr. Trump stuck to a deliberate strategy by pushing responsibility onto the states almost immediately after introducing reopening guidelines. Then he quickly undermined the guidelines by urging Democratic governors to “liberate” their states from those very restrictions.
Interviews with more than two dozen senior administration officials, state and local health officials, and a review of emails and documents, show how a critical period in mid-April set the nation on a course to a new surge, with the United States logging more than 65,000 new cases of the virus each day.
Officials in the West Wing viewed the White House coronavirus task force as dysfunctional, and they were increasingly dismissive of Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease specialist, and officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, who they believed had been wrong in their early judgments about the course of the virus.
As a result, important elements of the administration’s strategy were formulated out of sight in Mr. Meadows’s daily meetings, populated by aides who for the most part had no experience with public health emergencies and were taking their cues from the president.
The group convened each morning at 8 as the coronavirus crisis was raging in April. In addition to Dr. Birx, the participants included Joe Grogan, the president’s domestic policy adviser; Marc Short, Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff; Russell T. Vought, the president’s acting budget director; Chris Liddell, a deputy chief of staff, and Jared Kushner, the president’s senior adviser and son-in-law; Hope Hicks, the protector of Mr. Trump’s brand; and Kevin A. Hassett, a top economic adviser.
In the bureaucratese of their meetings, they referred to their goal as orchestrating a “state authority handoff.” As Mr. Meadows would tell people, “Only in Washington, D.C., do they think that they have the answer for all of America.”
Dr. Birx was more central than publicly known to the judgment inside the West Wing that the virus was under control and on a downward path.
But her model-based assessment of the outlook failed to account for a vital variable: how Mr. Trump’s rush to urge a return to normal would undercut the social distancing and other measures that were holding down the numbers.
During the morning meetings in Mr. Meadows’s office, Dr. Birx almost always delivered what the new team was hoping for: “All metros are stabilizing,” she would tell them, describing the virus as having hit its “peak” around mid-April. The New York area accounted for half of the total cases in the country, she said. The slope was heading in the right direction. “We’re behind the worst of it.”
During much of mid-April, Dr. Birx focused intensely on the experience that Italy had fighting the virus. In her view, it was a particularly positive comparison, telling colleagues that the United States was on the same trajectory as Italy, where there were huge spikes before infections and deaths flattened to close to zero.
Dr. Birx would roam the halls of the White House, sometimes passing out diagrams to bolster her case. “We’ve hit our peak,” she would say, and that message would find its way back to Mr. Trump.
TRUMP WAS IN A BOX: MORE TESTING MEANT MORE REPORTED CASES
The president quickly came to feel trapped by his own reopening guidelines, which put him in a box of his own making.
States needed declining cases to reopen, or at least a declining rate of positive tests. But more testing meant overall cases were destined to go up, not down, undercutting the president’s insistence that the priority was to get the economy cranked up again.
The result was to intensify Mr. Trump’s remarkable public campaign against testing, which was among the most vivid examples of his rejection of any informed leadership role. And it highlighted how Mr. Trump often ended up at war with his own administration’s experts and stated policies.
Mr. Trump shifted from stressing that the nation was already doing more than any other country to deriding its importance. By June the president was regularly making nonsensical statements like, “If we stop testing right now, we’d have very few cases, if any.”
TRUMP’S HANDOFF OF RESPONSIBILITY HAD CONSEQUENCES
The president’s bizarre public statements, his refusal to wear a mask and his pressure on states to get their economies going again left governors and state officials scrambling to address a leadership vacuum that complicated their efforts to deal with the virus.
In one case, Gov. Gavin Newsom of California was told that if he wanted the federal government to help obtain the swabs needed to test for the virus, he would have to ask Mr. Trump himself — and thank him.
After offering to help acquire 350,000 testing swabs during an early morning conversation with one of Mr. Newsom’s advisers, Mr. Kushner made it clear that the federal help would hinge on the governor doing him a favor.
“The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, had to call Donald Trump, and ask him for the swabs,” recalled the adviser, Bob Kocher, an Obama-era White House health care official.
Mayor Francis X. Suarez of Miami, a Republican, said that the White House approach had only one focus: reopening businesses, instead of anticipating how cities and states should respond if cases surged again.
“It was all predicated on reduction, open, reduction, open more, reduction, open,” he said. “There was never 'What happens if there is an increase after you reopen?'
THE WHITE HOUSE WAS SLOW TO RECOGNIZE IT HAD BEEN WRONG
Not until early June did White House officials even begin to recognize that their assumptions about the course of the pandemic had proved wrong.
In task force meetings, officials discussed whether the spike in cases across the South was related to crowded protests over the killing of George Floyd or perhaps a fleeting side effect of Memorial Day gatherings.
Digging into new data from Dr. Birx, they soon concluded that the virus was in fact spreading with invisible ferocity during the weeks in May when states were opening up with Mr. Trump’s encouragement and many were all but declaring victory.
With coronavirus cases rising across the country and the U.S. death toll topping 137,000, President Trump dismissed concerns about the spike in infections, telling Fox News that “many of those cases shouldn’t even be cases,” the Washington Post reports.
Said Trump: “Many of those cases are young people that would heal in a day. They have the sniffles and we put it down as a test.”
Donald Trump continues to insist the coronavirus will "disappear", despite the recent surge in cases in several states like California, Texas, Arizona and Florida, and in contradiction of advice by public health experts that predict a long battle with the virus.
"I'll be right eventually," the president said in an interview that airs on Sunday with Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday after the host played a series of clips that showed Mr Trump making pronouncements about the virus that have turned out not to be true.
"I will be right eventually. You know, I said, 'It's going to disappear.' I'll say it again. ... It's going to disappear, and I'll be right," Mr Trump said of Covid-19, which has killed more than 140,000 Americans over the least five months.
Fucking idiot moron. Can we stop prefacing his name with the word “president” and just use “idiot moron” instead?
The American people are not that stupid, Mr. President.

The nation’s floundering government is now administered by a gangster regime. It is helpful to have this made obvious as voters contemplate renewing the regime’s lease on the executive branch. Roger Stone adopted the argot of B-grade mobster movies when he said he would not “roll on” Donald Trump. By commuting Stone’s sentence, Stone’s beneficiary played his part in this down-market drama, showing gratitude for Stone’s version of omertà (the Mafia code of silence), which involved lots of speaking but much lying. Because pandemic prevents both presidential candidates from bouncing around the continent like popcorn in a skillet, the electorate can concentrate on other things, including Trump’s selection of friends such as Stone and Paul Manafort, dregs from the bottom of the Republican barrel.
“The hard truth is that there has been a rising tide of voter suppression in recent U.S. elections. These actions — such as overeager purging of electoral registers and reducing early voting — have the appearance of enforcing abstract principles of electoral integrity but the clear effect (and apparent intent) of disproportionately disenfranchising racial minorities. One example was the decision of Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State (now Governor) Brian Kemp to suspend 53,000 predominantly African-American voter registration applications in 2018 because the names did not produce an ‘exact match’ with other records.”
In the heated debate over reopening schools, one burning question has been whether and how efficiently children can spread the virus to others.
A large new study from South Korea offers an answer: Children younger than age 10 transmit to others much less often than adults do, but the risk is not zero. And those between the ages of 10-19 can spread the virus at least as well as adults do.
The findings suggest that as schools reopen, communities will see clusters of infection take root that include children of all ages, several experts cautioned.
“I fear that there has been this sense that kids just won’t get infected or don’t get infected in the same way as adults and that, therefore, they’re almost like a bubbled population,” said Michael Osterholm, an infectious diseases expert at the University of Minnesota.
“There will be transmission,” Osterholm said. “What we have to do is accept that now and include that in our plans.”
Even so, the number of new infections seeded by children may rise when schools reopen, the study authors cautioned. “Young children may show higher attack rates when the school closure ends, contributing to community transmission of COVID-19,” they wrote. Other studies have also suggested that the large number of contacts for schoolchildren, who interact with dozens of others for a good part of the day, may cancel out their smaller risk of infecting others.
The researchers traced the contacts only of children who felt ill, so it is still unclear how efficiently asymptomatic children spread the virus, said Caitlin Rivers, an epidemiologist at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
“I think it was always going to be the case that symptomatic children are infectious,” she said. “The questions about the role of children are more around whether children who don’t have symptoms are infectious.”
Rivers was a member of a scientific panel that on Wednesday recommended reopening schools wherever possible for disabled children and for those in elementary schools, because those groups have the most trouble learning online. She said the new study does not alter that recommendation.
The study is more worrisome for children in middle and high school. This group was even more likely to infect others than adults were, the study found. But some experts said that finding may be a fluke or may stem from the children’s behaviors.
These older children are frequently as big as adults, and yet may have some of the same unhygienic habits as young children do. They may also have been more likely than the younger children to socialize with their peers within the high-rise complexes in South Korea.
“We can speculate all day about this, but we just don’t know,” Osterholm said. “The bottom line message is: There’s going to be transmission.”

You came off as a deranged lunatic but whatever floats your boat.
One month after statewide mask mandate, California’s daily COVID case average has increased by 162% | Just The News
In spite of those strict directives, cases have continued to rise in the state, continuing an upward trend that was already in full swing when the mask mandate went into effect.
The website of Johns Hopkins University, which offers pandemic tracking tools for every U.S. state, says average daily cases in California have increased from 3,385 on the day of Newsom's order to 8,889 as of July 16, an increase of 162%.
Though Newsom's mask mandate appears to have had little effect on the trajectory of the virus in California, the governor nevertheless this week imposed additional mask requirements on the state, ordering that most students who return to school in the fall will be subject to "strong mask requirements," namely that "all staff and students in 3rd grade and above will be required to wear a mask or face covering" during the school day.
Newsom, like many other public officials, has claimed masks are necessary to stop the spread of COVID-19, but his own directive from last month stops short at actually calling them effective, instead merely stating that they "could" help.
"There is scientific evidence to suggest that use of cloth face coverings by the public during a pandemic could help reduce disease transmission," the order said.
Covid-19 causes hypoxia (oxygen starvation). Masks also reduce oxygen to unsafe levels, which will exacerbate the illness. That’s why they are pushing the masks, not to stop the illness but to make more people sick - the exact opposite of their stated intention.
The Vice President has a long history of failing to acknowledge science, having previously refused to acknowledge evolution or climate change. While both of those positions are themselves troubling, Pence’s dismissal of data and expert guidelines now have real life-or-death impacts on Americans struggling to confront a deadly virus. As Americans become increasingly wary of a virus that shows no signs of abating, Pence’s optimistic act of sticking his head in the sand isn’t an act of social distancing; it’s an abdication of responsibility.

If you are waiting for zero risk then you're going to be stuck in your nursing home room forever. There is absolutely nothing at zero risk.
If a relative choice. And the choice is the retardation of learning and social development is not worth the very low risk of children getting infected and/or transmitting the virus forever.
This is about teachers getting paid for sitting on their ass. Believe you me, it they weren't getting paid for not working they would clamoring for an immediate opening of the schools.

No signs of abating? We went from a peak of over 6,000 new death a day in mid April to 281 yesterday.
American's are not struggling with the virus, just the onerous and draconian measure their state and local government have placed on them.
Less than 10% of the population has been infected and 99.9% of them have recovered with only mild symptoms or no symptoms at all.
History will likely call this the panic of 2020 and the purveyors of pandemic porn will be look on too kindly.

This represents 20% of all Florida hospitalizations. There are still 15,000 beds open In Florida.
That number came from a report on June 16!!!!!!! https://www.miamiherald.com/news/health-care/article243655502.html
The latest number reported was said by Desantis which was there were thousands of beds available......no specifics typical of a dumb fuck in way over his head like trump......There is some county information, but not a state summary!!!!!
It is 14,985 as of 2:30 PM TODAY 7/19. Out of 60,247.
Your article says "Mayhew said there are more than 15,000 hospital beds currently unfilled statewide, which equals 25% below capacity — the same number reported by the agency’s dashboard."
So now it is slightly under. Essentially flat. Exactly what I said.

Here is another take on the Wallace-Trump interview, wherein Trump admits that he makes mistakes (note that the Washington Post focus was on Trump’s willingness to accept election results and the USA Today focus is on the Covid-19 crisis, which demonstrates why one needs to get one’s news from multiple, competing sources):
A few choice quotes from the article (the last quote could be the summary of the entire interview and issues discussed therein, and hopefully the Trump presidency):
“Several viewers of the interview pointed out Trump's repeated mis-statements. Political analyst Stuart Rothenberg said the Wallace interview "really shows who and what our President is. Incoherent. Idiotic. Rambling. Insensitive. Illogical. Ignorant. And worse. Great work by Chris Wallace."”

“”Reminded in the Fox News interview of his own false assessments about the threat posed by the virus, Trump said, "I guess everybody makes mistakes."”

by 15 points among registered voters,
55% to 40%.
However, among likely voters Biden’s margin reduces to ten points,

Torres asked all the doctors straight out, “Would you let your kids go back to school?”
“I will. My kids are looking forward to it,” Patel said.
“Yes, period, absolutely,” Raszka replied.
“Absolutely. As much as I can,” Lighter said.
Torres followed up, “Without a hesitation?”
“Without a hesitation, yes,” she said.
“I would let my kids go back to school,” Maldonado answered.
And Creech rounded the 5-0 score by saying, “I have no concerns about sending my child to school in the fall.”
After the segment aired, a shocked Melvin looked into the camera and said, with what sounded a little like chagrin in his voice, “They all said yes.”

In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic.

people keep leaving out the sustained interaction.
and incubation that masks provide if the Covid is trapped inside...
There has been no real study done on masks and Fauci doesn't see the need... probably fears the result.

The ‘Fatal Conceit’ of Dr. Fauci

Ohio veteran, 37, who went viral for refusing to wear a mask, died of COVID-19
JOSHUA BOTE | USA TODAY | 6:44 am EDT July 17, 2020
A new report suggests that wearing a cloth mask doesn't just protect others from COVID-19, it can protect you as well.
USA TODAY
An Ohio man who died due to complications from COVID-19 has drawn criticism for his staunch refusal to wear a mask earlier in the pandemic.
They simply swallowed everything.
I miss him.

Adolf Trittler
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is refusing to publicly commit to accepting the results of the upcoming White House election, recalling a similar threat he made weeks before the 2016 vote, as he scoffs at polls showing him lagging behind Democrat Joe Biden. Trump says it's too early to make such an ironclad guarantee.
“I have to see. Look ... I have to see,” Trump told moderator Chris Wallace during a wide-ranging interview on ”Fox News Sunday." “No, I’m not going to just say yes. I’m not going to say no, and I didn’t last time either.”
It is remarkable that a sitting president would express less than complete confidence in the American democracy's electoral process. But for Trump, it comes from his insurgent playbook of four years ago, when in the closing stages of his race against Hillary Clinton, he said he would not commit to honoring the election results if the Democrat won.
Pressed during an October 2016 debate about whether he would abide by the voters' will, Trump responded that he would “keep you in suspense.”
Trump has seen his presidential popularity erode over his handing of the coronavirus pandemic and in the aftermath of nationwide protests centered on racial injustice that erupted after George Floyd's death in Minneapolis nearly two months.
He won by about 72,000 votes in three states.
He trails in all three states today by double digit votes
He trails in all three states today by double digit votes
as he did in 2016.
as he did in 2016.

THE BIG GET … CHRIS WALLACE spoke to President DONALD TRUMP on “FOX NEWS SUNDAY”: WALLACE: “California locking down again.
WALLACE: “I understand that.”
TRUMP: “I mean, many, many whites are killed. I hate the sad -- but this is going on for decades. This is going on for a long time, long before I got here.

“I have to see. Look ... I have to see,” Trump told moderator Chris Wallace during a wide-ranging interview on ”Fox News Sunday." “No, I’m not going to just say yes.

WALLACE: “I understand that.”

(CNN) - The new ABC News/Washington Post poll is the latest to show former Vice President Joe Biden on a roll.

New York Times:
INISIDE THE FAILURE:
5 Takeaways on Trump’s Effort to Shift Responsibility
Here are some of the key findings:
THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENED
DR. BIRX: WHITE HOUSE EXPERT
Trump.
TRUMP WAS IN A BOX:
MORE TESTING MEANT MORE REPORTED CASES
BIRX WAS WRONG.
DR. FAUCI WAS RIGHT.
Trump Dismisses Rising Coronavirus Cases
BETTER HEADLINE: Trump Tries to Dismiss Rising Coronavirus Cases

JAWOHL!
You said that federalism would not allow him to issue an executive order mandating wearing mask.
Well if you can show where a mask mandate has anything to do with interstate commerce I will be glad to revise my opinion.
Until then; stuff it.

Funny he didn't produce that scientific evidence to back that up.

Your team has never conceded the 2016 election.
A large new study from South Korea offers an answer: Children younger than age 10 transmit to others much less often than adults do, but the risk is not zero.
The Vice President has a long history of failing to acknowledge science, having previously refused to acknowledge evolution or climate change.
This is nothing but gutter sniping Pence's religious beliefs and as such I find it offensive.

Yet, we haven't shut down our economy, lives and schools.

‘It’s 24-Hour Crime’: Neighbors At Lowry & Logan In N. Mpls. Fed Up After Ongoing Violence
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Gun battles, drug dealing and prostitution — that’s what neighbors in one part of north Minneapolis say they’re dealing with on a daily basis.
Homicides and other violent crimes are pulling police away. That’s leaving some neighborhoods feeling like they’re on their own.
There was about 30 rounds shot," Jake, a nearby resident told WCCO.
Several homes on the block were hit. Two showed up at the hospital and are expected to recover.

The real story out of Florida is incredible: 150,000 #SARSCoV2 positive tests in the last two weeks, and effectively NO change in either total hospitalizations or ICU use statewide. Case mix? A huge advance in medicine? This is the story real reporters should chase.

The media would have you believe all the ICU and other hospital beds are all filled with COVID-19 patients. That is not the case. There was quite a backlog of elective procedures during the lockdown and the hospitals haven't caught up yet.

Hey DUMB FUCK lo iq
The number I posted was the MOST CURRENT.
ARE YOU REALLY AS STUPID AS YOU ACT ???
Hard to believe ANYBODY CAN BE THAT STUPID !!!
And your "comment" on ballot rejections was even stupider
Lordy.

Is Chris Wallace a fact checker now?
Has Chris Wallace apologized for pushing the Russia Hoax for years? Or the Mueller Probe? Or for mocking the defenders of Gen. Flynn?
It's Chris Wallace who can't withstand a fact-check.
***
“”Reminded in the Fox News interview of his own false assessments about the threat posed by the virus, Trump said, "I guess everybody makes mistakes."”
