A telling statement from the focus group

The media doesn't focus on issues that matter to everyday people

Undecideds liked Trump, but does it matter?

Frank Luntz is one of the premier focus group hosts. His people have never been shown to be anything other than undecideds. They generally represent some of the few people who vote for candidates over Party. The buzz of the night was that Trump did a better job explaining his positions and was surprisingly Presidential. Meanwhile, Biden was described as elusive, defensive, and vague. He was also said to come across as old and "grandfatherly".

But I think it's important to understand that Joe Biden (right, wrong, or indifferent) did not go into this debate to aggressively appeal to undecideds or to provide any real specifics. One has to assume that Biden is still "running out the clock" and cares more about holding on to the potential voters they probably feel that they have locked up, rather than winning any new undecideds. Biden's goal was likely to not "rock the boat" or to simply look the part of competent alternative.  Other than talking about phasing out natural gas and oil, which was a mistake, Biden was probably mostly successful in these regards.

But I think it's telling that there seems to be a growing frustration among independents with how the media is handling politics. It's no longer just Republicans who take issue with the main stream media, it's the everyday non-political American who is now growing tired of the media attempting to "control" what it is that we should care about, talk about, and how we should judge our politicians.

It's one thing for the mainstream media to nearly completely ignore the Hunter Biden situation, but it's quite another to see social media quite literally censor any of the stories off Facebook and Twitter. The fact that we spent nearly three years listening to the media drone on about the so called Trump Russia collusion conspiracy, when in the end there was literally no truth to it, makes their decisions to "censor" what we hear about Joe Biden all the more hypocritical.

One of the problems is that there doesn't seem to be much alternative anymore. Tucker Carlson and other conservative Fox news hosts dominate prime time, with Carlson many times beating out the network television shows for the same time slot. But even Fox News is changing everywhere other than the prime time hosts, bringing more and more liberals to add "balance" while CNN, MSNBC, and others offer nothing in the way of balance.

The almighty dollar has seemed to be replaced with the almighty sense of partisanship. Liberals who own and run the networks would rather use them to influence. They seem to care little about being objective or even make money. There is no question that Fox still outperforms everyone, and that if another conservative network came along, it would instantly become more successful than the existing networks. People are itching to hear both sides of the story, and right now almost nobody is telling it.

the Hunter Biden situation is a fabricated story. The MSM doesn't ignore it in order to hurt the President. You continue to believe that spin by the President and the conservative movement.

The MSM is following the reality show Presidency and its failure on the covid-19 pandemic. Over 85,000 people were diagnosed yesterday! But the President said we are going around the corner! In front of a crowd of elderly people, mostly unmasked, he called Harris a communist!

He is not expanding his base. A record number of people have already voted at levels never seen before.

If we have a record turnout, the President and the Republican party are in danger!

and this is probably a major contributing factor in the poll results that show biden leading by double digits.

the media AND the pollsters are not paying attention to things the rest of us are.

btw, luntz recently said that if the polls are wrong and Trump wins, he's fucked:

Ch's thread argument is interesting if you keep asking yourself, How many of the criticisms he fields against the liberal media are even more true of the conservative media?

Both sides of the story?

It disturbs Ch that even Fox News, trying to win back some credibility, is now sometimes admitting that it is a mistake to fall in behind every defense of Trump.

An example of that: There is no reason to doubt that Trump DID in the presence of witnesses refer to American dead of WWI as suckers and losers, and DID say of some Vietnam War dead, "I don't get it. What was in it for them?" Even a Fox reporter had to admit that the sources for those statements were credible, although they chose not to put their names on their affirmations.

BUT PERHAPS MORE IMPORTANT:
You say, Ch, that you want to satisfy the "people [who] are itching to hear both sides of the story...[but] right now almost nobody is telling it"?
I think there's only one way for that to happen:

Bring back the Fairness Doctrine.

from Wiki:
The fairness doctrine had two basic elements: It required broadcasters to devote some of their airtime to discussing controversial matters of public interest, and to air contrasting views regarding those matters. Stations were given wide latitude as to how to provide contrasting views: It could be done through news segments, public affairs shows, or editorials. The doctrine did not require equal time for opposing views but required that contrasting viewpoints be presented. The demise of this FCC rule has been considered by some to be a contributing factor for the rising level of party polarization in the United States.

The Fairness Doctrine worked very well.

Conservative radio stations had to provide at least some opportunities for opposing viewpoints.

Liberal radio stations had to provide at least some opportunities for opposing viewpoints.

Same for tv stations.

It kept all media outlets at least a little more objective, a little more honest.

Here in my hometown, there is a rankly conservative local station. At one time, I would occasionally call in, calling myself "liberal Jim," and express opposing views. I was treated with respect (Nobody ever shouted me down the way Mark Levin shouts down any caller who calls in with an opposing viewpoint to his nationally syndicated show) and my viewpoint was heard, if disagreed with.

That is no longer possible here locally. There is no longer any number that I or anyone with an opposing viewpoint can call for that local show.

And don't expect to get anything resembling civility if you call the nationals like Larry Elder, etc. I don't even try.

Question for Democrats: If you are 100% certain Trump is OBVIOUSLY a racist, how do you explain all the Black people who DON'T see it? Can there be that many Black people who don't recognize OBVIOUS racism?

The alternative hypothesis is that the media is capable of convincing most (but not all) of the public of any-damned-thing, and the left-leaning brainwashers decided to tell the public Trump is a racist. But what about all of the examples that prove their case, you ask?

Democrats don't have access to this information because the news is so siloed. But Republicans generally know the racism examples are fake news. The Fine People Hoax is the prime example. Half the country actually believes Trump called neo-Nazis "fine people." He did not.

Many believe Trump once took out a full-page ad in the NY Times saying the accused Central Park Five should be executed. But his ad was about violent crime in general, not that one. And why would you think Trump would oppose execution for white criminals in the same situation?

Most of the other "racism" complaints about Trump would be more accurately labelled provocative or offensive. Take the so-called "shithole countries" comment. Offensive? Sure. Racist? Not if you consider how provocatively Trump speaks about everything else.

I could run through the other examples, all fake or out of context. Or I could show you the compilation clip of Trump mocking lots of people using the same gestures he was accused of using to mock a reporter with a disability. Did you fall for that fake news?

I don't know how we climb out of our national division, but learning to not trust our own news sources has to be the starting place. The political Right is no better, by the way, but their brainwashing is on different topics.

The U.S. topped the one-day record for new coronavirus cases, according to Johns Hopkins University data, surpassing the previous summer high.

At the height of the surge, on July 16, the U.S. saw more than 77,362 reported new cases of COVID-19. On Friday, the U.S. reached 83,757 new daily cases, according to by Johns Hopkins University.

The news comes on the heels of a study by the University of Washington School of Medicine that projected more than 500,000 Americans could die by the end of February in part because of the nation’s current patchwork of COVID-19 mandates and the inconsistent use of masks to prevent virus spread.

New York City's iconic landmark The Strand bookstore is asking for customers' assistance to keep their doors open as fallout from the coronavirus pandemic continues to put pressure on businesses in the city.

In a statement Friday, Strand said its revenue has dropped 70% compared to last year and that the loans and cash reserves it relied on from the beginning of the pandemic have been depleted. The store's owner, Nancy Bass Wyden, called the store's business "unsustainable" without the help of its loyal customers in a letter addressed to "dear friends" of the bookstore.

"I'm going to pull out all the stops to keep sharing our mutual love of the printed word," Bass Wyden said in a statement. "But for the first time in The Strand's 93 year history, we need to mobilize the community to buy from us so we can keep our doors open until there is a vaccine."

Off topic. I loved this song. The songwriter died today.

I knew a man Bojangles and he danced for you
In worn out shoes
Silver hair, a ragged shirt and baggy pants
The old soft shoe

He jumped so high
He jumped so high
Then he'd lightly touched down

Mr Bojangles
Mr Bojangles
Mr Bojangles
Dance

I met him in a cell in New Orleans I was
Down and out
He looked to me to be the eyes of age
As he spoke right out

He talked of life
He talked of life
He lightly slapped his leg instead

He said the name Bojangles and he danced a lick
Across the cell
He grabbed his pants for a better stance
He jumped so high
He clicked his heels

He let go a laugh
He let go a laugh
Shook back his clothes all around

Mr Bojangles
Mr Bojangles
Mr Bojangles
Dance

We danced for those at minstrel shows and county fairs
Throughout the south
We spoke in tears of fifteen years
How his dog and him
They travelled about

His dog up and died
He up and died
After twenty years he still grieves

They said I dance now at every chance and honky tonks
For drinks and tips
But most the time I spend behind these county bars
Cause I drinks a bit

He shook his head and as he shook his head
I heard someone ask please

Mr Bojangles
Mr Bojangles
Mr Bojangles
Dance

Mr Bojangles
Mr Bojangles
Mr Bojangles

note that it was democrats who abused the doctrine...

A report yesterday that the Kennedy and Johnson Administrations had carried on organized, covert campaigns to harass unsympathetic radio commentators dismayed experts in communications law, most of whom said they were concerned about its impact on a key policy in broadcast regulation.

The policy is the fairness doctrine, under which broadcasters are required to present all pertinent viewpoints in discussions of controversial issues of public importance. It also provides that individuals attacked in radio or television be accorded time by the stations for reply.

Two broadcast licenses have been lost in recent years for violations of the fairness doctrine, WLBT in Jackson, Miss., and WXUR, Media, Pa.

[...]

The article reported that the Kennedy and Johnson Administrations, with financial backing from the Democratic National Committee, had used the fairness doctrine to subdue rightwing radio commentators who were critical of Administration goals.

The clandestine campaigns, which reportedly began in 1963, were also designed to inhibit stations from carrying commentary supporting Senator Barry Goldwater, Republican of Arizona, at the time he was a prospective Presidential candidate.

From Wiki:
Reinstatement OF THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE considered
Support
In February 2005, U.S. Representative Louise Slaughter (D-NY) and 23 co-sponsors introduced the Fairness and Accountability in Broadcasting Act (H.R. 501)[36] in the 1st Session of the 109th Congress of 2005-7 (when Republicans held a majority of both Houses). The bill would have shortened a station's license term from eight years to four, with the requirement that a license-holder cover important issues fairly, hold local public hearings about its coverage twice a year, and document to the FCC how it was meeting its obligations. The bill was referred to committee, but progressed no further.

In the same Congress, Representative Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) introduced legislation "to restore the Fairness Doctrine". H.R. 3302, also known as the "Media Ownership Reform Act of 2005" or MORA, had 16 co-sponsors in Congress.

In June 2007, Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) said, "It's time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine," an opinion shared by his Democratic colleague, Senator John Kerry (D-MA). However, according to Marin Cogan of The New Republic in late 2008:
Senator Durbin's press secretary says that Durbin has 'no plans, no language, no nothing. He was asked in a hallway last year, he gave his personal view'—that the American people were served well under the doctrine—'and it's all been blown out of proportion.'

On June 24, 2008, U.S. Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the Speaker of the House at the time, told reporters that her fellow Democratic Representatives did not want to forbid reintroduction of the Fairness Doctrine, adding "the interest in my caucus is the reverse." When asked by John Gizzi of Human Events, "Do you personally support revival of the 'Fairness Doctrine?'", the Speaker replied "Yes."

On October 22, 2008, Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) told a conservative talk radio host in Albuquerque, New Mexico:
I would want this station and all stations to present a balanced perspective and different points of view. All I’m saying is that for many, many years we operated under a Fairness Doctrine in this country, and I think the country was well-served. I think the public discussion was at a higher level and more intelligent in those days than it has become since.

On December 15, 2008, U.S. Representative Anna Eshoo (D-CA) told The Daily Post in Palo Alto, California that she thought it should also apply to cable and satellite broadcasters.
I’ll work on bringing it back. I still believe in it. It should and will affect everyone.

On February 11, 2009, Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) told radio host Bill Press, "we gotta get the Fairness Doctrine back in law again." Later in response to Press's assertion that "they are just shutting down progressive talk from one city after another," Senator Harkin responded, "Exactly, and that's why we need the fair—that's why we need the Fairness Doctrine back."

Former President Bill Clinton has also shown support for the Fairness Doctrine. During a February 13, 2009, appearance on the Mario Solis Marich radio show, Clinton said:
Well, you either ought to have the Fairness Doctrine or we ought to have more balance on the other side, because essentially there's always been a lot of big money to support the right wing talk shows.

Clinton cited the "blatant drumbeat" against the stimulus program from conservative talk radio, suggesting that it doesn't reflect economic reality.
___________
And the debate continues, pro and con...
I say, bring it back, and with it greater civility and fairness to our public discourse.

In response, the campaign signed an agreement pledging to follow those rules, limiting attendance to 250 people.

“On the day of the rally, however, Trump supporters flooded onto the tarmac at Duluth International Airport. They stood shoulder to shoulder, many without masks.”

"The airport emailed the campaign:

Hunter's Ex-Business Partner Says Joe Biden Lied About Business Deals In China, FBI Has Proof

Posted By Tim Hains
On Date October 22, 2020

Tony Bobulinski, a former business partner of Hunter Biden, accused former VP Joe Biden of lying about his role in his son's international dealings during a statement to the WH press corps just 90 minutes before Thursday's presidential debate. Bobulinski, who will be a guest at the debate, said he has three phones that will prove his claims and he is giving them to the FBI.

BOBULINSKI: Good evening. My name is Tony Bobunlinski. I served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy with high security clearance. My father and grandfather, both served for decades in our country’s armed forces. Since leaving the Navy, I’ve been involved in various successful businesses, both in this country and abroad. I’m making the statement to set the record straight about the involvement of the Biden family, Vice President Biden, his brother Jim Biden, and his son Hunter Biden, in dealings with the Chinese.

I’ve heard Joe Biden say that he’s never discussed business with Hunter. That is false.

I have first hand knowledge about this because I directly dealt with the Biden family, including Joe Biden. I have also heard the Vice President Biden said on Tuesday, that Senator Ron Johnson the chair of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, should be ashamed for suggesting the Biden family sought to profit from their name. Well here are the facts, I know. And everything I’m saying is corroborated by emails, WhatsApp chats, agreements, documents, and other evidence and American people can judge for themselves.

I brought, I guess, for the record three phones, that spanned the years 2015 to 2018. These phones have never been held by anybody else besides myself. I was told this past Sunday by somebody who was also involved in this matter that if I went public this information would be it would bury all of us, man, the Bidens included.

Rudy Giuliani Ghosted said...

I have no wish to bury anyone. I’ve never been political. The few contributions I’ve made have been the Democrats. But what I am is a patriot, and a veteran, to protect my family name, and my business reputation, I need to ensure that the true facts are out there.

In late 2015. I was approached by James Gilliar, whom I had known for many years, about joining him in a deal which he said would involve the Chinese state owned enterprise CFC China Energy, and what he called one of the most prominent families in the United States. I was informed first by Gilliar, and then by Hunter Biden, and by Rob Walker, who was working with the Biden’s, that the Biden’s wanted to form a new entity with CFC, which was to invest in infrastructure, real estate, and technology in the U.S. and around the world. And the entity would initially be capitalized with $10 million, and then grow to billions of dollars of investment capital.

After months of discussion, I agreed to Gilliar and Hunter Biden’s request to become CEO of the entity to be called Sino Hawk, Sino representing the Chinese side, Hawk, representing Hunter Biden’s brother Beau’s favorite animal. And between February and May 2017, we exchanged numerous emails, documents, and WhatsApp messages concerning Sino Hawk, and its potential business.

On May 2, 2017, the night before Joe Biden was to appear at the Milken conference. I was introduced to Joe Biden by Jim Biden and Hunter Biden. At my approximate hour long meeting with Joe. That night, we discussed the Biden’s history, the Biden’s family business plans with the Chinese, with which he was plainly familiar, at least at a high level, after that meeting I had numerous communications with Hunter, Walker, Gilliar, and Jim Biden. Regarding the allocation of the equity ownership of Sino Hawk.

On May 13, 2017, I received an email concerning allocation of equity, which says 10% held by H for the big guy in that email there’s no question that H stands for Hunter, big guy for his father, Joe Biden, and Jim for Jim Biden.

In fact, Hunter often referred to as fathers the big guy or my Chairman on numerous occasions, it was made clear to me that Joe Biden’s involvement was not to be mentioned in writing, but only face to face. In fact, I was advised by Gilliar and Walker, that Hunter and Jim Biden were paranoid about keeping Joe Biden’s involvement secret. I also had a disagreement with Hunter about the funds CFC was contributing to Sino Hawk. Hunter wanted 5 million of those funds to go to himself and his family.

So he wanted the funds wired directly to an entity affiliated with him. I objected because that was contrary to our written agreements, concerning Sino Hawk. He said referring to the chairman, his father, that CFC was really investing in the Biden family that he held a trump card, and that he was the one putting his family legacy on the line. He also said to me on May 17, 2017 that CFC wanted to be my partner to be partnered with the Bidens.

During these negotiations I repeated to hunter and others that Sino Hawk could not be Hunter’s personal piggy bank, and I demanded the proper corporate governance procedures be implemented for capital distributions. Hunter became very upset with me CFC through July 2017 was assuring me the funds would be transferred to Sino Hawk, but they were never sent to our company. Instead I found out from Senator Johnson’s September report that the $5 million was sent in August 2017 to entities affiliated with Hunter.

Tomorrow, I will be meeting with the Senate Committee members concerning this matter. And I will be providing to the FBI the devices which contain the evidence corroborating what I’ve said, so I will not be taking any questions at this time.

Biden Eyes Expanded Map But Memories of 2016 Linger
1:08 pm
“In the final days before the election, Joe Biden holds significant advantages in polling and fundraising over President Trump along with myriad options for a party desperate not to repeat the mistakes of 2016 but also tantalized by a potential blue wave.

“Mr. Biden’s campaign believes he is in a position to reclaim traditionally Democratic ground and expand the map, potentially running up the Electoral College score in purple and even red-leaning states.

“But four-year-old ghosts linger: Hillary Clinton’s campaign, facing a similar set of choices, spent time and money targeting a range of states and ended up losing Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan to Mr. Trump by fewer than 80,000 votes combined.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Senate leader Harry Reid says if Democrats win the presidency and the Senate, Joe Biden should take “no more than three weeks” to test bipartisanship before ending the filibuster so Democrats can overcome what they call Republican obstruction and pass bills.

The retired Nevada Democrat told The Associated Press in an interview that he understands Biden wants to work with Republicans, as the former vice president and Delaware senator has in the past. But Reid said there is just too much that needs to be done in the country for to wait around trying to reach agreements under the decades old-Senate practice of requiring 60 votes to advance legislation.

"Biden — who wants always to get along with people — I understand that,” Reid said by telephone from Nevada.

Pennsylvania GOP Appeals to Supreme Court Again

“Pennsylvania Republicans asked the U.S. Supreme Court again late Friday to overturn a mail ballot deadline extension ordered by the state’s high court, quickly returning to an issue on which the Supreme Court had only just deadlocked and raising the prospect of a different outcome after a new justice is installed next week,” the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

“In a 4-4 split Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court did not grant that previous emergency request to step in and block the deadline extension. Friday night’s filing differs in that it is asking the court to take up the case itself and decide whether the state court ruled properly. And Monday’s all-but-certain confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court could tip the balance in deciding the new request.”

“The GOP on Friday night also asked the U.S. Supreme Court to fast-track the case, given that Election Day is just over a week away.”

Historical Turnout.

More than 50 million Americans have cast ballots in the US presidential election with 11 days to go in the campaign, a pace that could lead to the highest voter turnout in over a century, according to data from the US Elections Project on Friday.

The eye-popping figure is a sign of intense interest in the contest between Republican Donald Trump and Joe Biden, his Democratic challenger, as well as Americans’ desire to reduce their risk of exposure to Covid-19, which has killed more than 221,000 people across the United States.

Many states have expanded in-person early voting and mail-in ballots ahead of election day on 3 November, as a safer way to vote during the coronavirus pandemic.

The high level of early voting has led Michael McDonald, the University of Florida professor who administers the US Elections Project, to predict a record turnout of about 150 million, representing 65% of eligible voters, the highest rate since 1908.

In Texas, the level of voting has already surpassed 70% of the total turnout in 2016. In Georgia, some have waited in line for more than 10 hours to cast their ballots. And Wisconsin has seen a record number of early votes, with 1.1 million people having returned their ballots as of this week. Voters in Virginia, Ohio and Georgia have also seen long lines at early voting sites.

In the United States of America, the people have the ultimate power to decide who can govern the country.

If this continues until November 3rd, we will see a referendum on the President and the Republican party.

All three branches will be Democratic. The house, Senate and the White House.

And yes I know that the three branches means the executive branch, the Congress and the Courts. Just because you idiots will say I'm crazy.😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Just 2 weekends left! We can do this! A tsunami of voters have already shown up to the polls — and if we all pitch in and do just a little bit, we will create a record turnout for this election.

Let me suggest a few simple things we can each do this weekend:

FRIDAY: MAKE A SIGN!
Signs work! Homemade signs work better! Each of us need to make a sign (or two) and put it in our yards or in our apartment windows. All you need is some posterboard (or a cut-up box or some white paper) and a black permanent marker (crayons and paint work, too!). Put it on a stake or on a yardstick and shove it in the ground. Or put it in a window where neighbors and passersby can see it. All it has to say is “BIDEN.” Or “DUMP TRUMP.” Or “VOTE.” When other Biden voters see it, it will give them a great feeling or make them feel less alone. It will remind them to vote and to get others to vote with them. When we all do this together - saving our country in this case - it feels soooo much better.

SATURDAY: ADDRESS BOOK REACH-OUT!
Each of us have an address book in our mobile phones. It contains the names, numbers and email addresses of our family, friends, classmates, co-workers and colleagues. And if they’re 18 and over, they’re voters! Each of them hopefully represent all of us being one more vote closer to removing Trump! Take a couple hours on Saturday and call, text or email as many of them as you can. Don’t assume they’re going to vote or have already voted. Don’t assume they’ve remembered now is the time to vote. Give them a friendly call or drop them a note and say you’re just contacting everyone you know and care about because this is the most important election in our lifetime and you’d love to have them join you in voting for Biden and removing Trump. Let ‘em know you don’t usually do this, but this time it’s different. This time people around us are getting sick and dying and it didn’t have to be like this. We need a sane person in the White House. We need to restore “normality” and sanity and calm and a sense of caring for each other. A country where everyone gets a fair shake — equality and decent job with a living wage and all the kids get a great education. We have a better chance of ending this virus with someone who believes in science. We have a better chance of saving this planet by having someone in the Oval Office who believes we’re in a climate catastrophe. A President who will guarantee free tuition to every child of the middle and working class who wants to go to college. We are all better off with citizens who are educated — it reduces the numbers of those who want to join militias and kidnap governors. The minimum wage will now be a living wage. Obamacare will be even better and the drug companies’ days of gouging us are going to be over. Plus, wouldn’t it be nice to have a President with empathy, someone who listens, someone whose favorite word isn’t “me,” someone who pays more than $750 a year in taxes? Can we bring this shitshow to a merciful and quick end?

Michael Moore said...

OK, maybe don’t swear. Put it in your own words. Make it brief and personal. If you’ve got a relevant story to tell, tell it. Maybe there’s a few things about Biden you don’t like. Go ahead and admit it — you’re not alone. We’re not looking for perfection here — we‘re just looking for some relief! We know we’re all gonna have a lot of work to do once Biden is elected. But first things first. Trump Removal. (iwillvote.com will give them all the info they need about voting sites, same day registration, ballots, etc).

This kind of simple personal contact is more effective than a hundred TV ads or dozens of rallies. If you convince just one person to vote, you have, in that instant, just DOUBLED your vote! How cool and easy was that?! And if they tell you they’ve already voted, ask them to join you in your little weekend project of texting and calling and yard signs!

SUNDAY: A (SAFE) STROLL THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD!
Carefully, with face mask and perhaps some glasses and gloves and a dozen or so flyers you’ve printed at home (a personal note about voting), walk down your street (or your apartment hallway) and - at a safe distance - say hi to your neighbors and ask them to please vote for Biden. They may not want to open the door. That’s OK! Just speak to them for a few seconds through the door and tell them you’re leaving them something outside. Tell them where the neighborhood voting site is, thank them and let them know we’re all gonna make it. Solidarity might feel good these days when we hardly have any contact with anyone.

There! That’s it. 3 simple things to do over 3 beautiful fall days this weekend. It can’t hurt, it will definitely help, it costs you nothing but a little bit of your time and your desire for a better country. Thanks for doing this. And please accept my sincerest my gratitude.

Biden Travels to Georgia In dte Push to Flip State

“Joe Biden is headed to Georgia on Tuesday, part of a late effort by the campaign to flip a state that Republicans have carried in every White House contest since 1996,” the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

“It’s the former vice president’s first trip to Georgia as his party’s nominee, and it comes as Democrats are pushing to expand the battleground map. Recent polls show Biden and President Trump deadlocked in Georgia, and a defeat here would likely doom the Republican’s reelection chances.”

A Trump adviser briefed on the outbreak, who was not authorized to speak publicly, said that Pence adviser Marty Obst also tested positive earlier this week. Mr. Obst’s positive test was first reported by Bloomberg News.

Another person briefed on the developments, who also was not allowed to speak publicly, said that three additional Pence staff members had tested positive. Mr. O’Malley did not immediately respond to a question about others who have tested positive.

Mr. Pence’s decision to continue campaigning, despite his proximity to his chief of staff, is certain to raise fresh questions about how seriously the White House is taking the risks to its staff members and to the public as the pandemic has killed nearly 225,000 people in the United States.

Mr. Trump, the first lady and several aides and advisers tested positive for the virus roughly three weeks ago. Mr. Trump spent three nights at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and he was treated with an experimental antibody cocktail as well as the powerful steroid dexamethasone.

The administration decided not to trace the contacts of guests and staff members at the Rose Garden celebration on Sept. 26 for the Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett, which also included a reception inside the White House. That event was linked to an outbreak that grew to more than 20 cases, as evidence mounted that the administration had done little to prevent or contain the virus’s spread.

Mr. Trump, at rallies over the past two days, has insisted the country is “rounding the turn” on the virus, even though the single-day record for new cases was shattered on Friday.
