It is over - Trump concedes

No need to even hold the election, Trump admits. RCP average, Cook report analysis, and the information provided in the CHT comment sections are all too damning to bother with an actual election.

Trump: the Cook report is an amazing report. Once I realized how
amazing that amazing report was, I had to concede the election.

While some pundits are seeing the race closing down the stretch or otherwise still question whether the polling might have similar issues as it did in the past two elections, those closest to the President have suggested that Trump and his team has finally determined that it is just conservative "slant" and that things are just too grim to continue.

Even when confronted with early voting numbers that appear to show Republicans doing better than 2016 in many important states or an unusual new registration advantage for Republicans in this election cycle in many battleground states, the President (and his inner circle) suggested that we just "look at the RCP average" and stop worrying about anything tangible or empirical.

Trump has even suggested stepping down prior to the election and just "appointing" Joe Biden as President earlier than normal. Apparently the belief is that any incumbent that has already lost (even before the election is held) doesn't deserve to finish out his term. Insider sources suggested that the final straw that broke the camel's back was a cut and paste of "horrible" headlines on the comment section of an obscure blog called The Coldheartedtruth. Had the President not been saddled with having to witness such "truth", he might have had the courage to go on.

You made me laugh out loud!

Scott he believes that he can walk down 5th street and shoot his opponent and still keep his base!

His unwillingness to keep other people safe, leads him to conduct campaign rallies. And keep the cultists happy!

“Covid, covid, covid, covid, covid, covid cases — do you ever notice they use the word 'cases'? Like Barron Trump has a case, sniffles, one Kleenex and he was better,” Trump told a tightly packed, mostly mask-less crowd here in Michigan's state capital, in remarks downplaying the severity of the virus.

Coronavirus cases are only up because of increased testing, he said, and media coverage of the pandemic is being used to make him look bad. Regarding testing, he said, “in many ways I hate it. We test everybody. … If I told them to cut testing in half and we cut our testing in half, they would go crazy because the cases would go down at approximately half, right?”

In the final days of his campaign, Trump is contending with a fall wave of coronavirus infections that he had once predicted wouldn’t be coming, and that people close to the campaign dismissed as an impossibility over the summer as they planned to tout an economic recovery in the homestretch of the race.

Using my phrase "an obscure coldheartedtruthblog.blogspot blog " made me smile.

If you are finally responsible, instead of being a cultist Scott, welcome back!

WASHINGTON — Miles Taylor, the former chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security, was the anonymous author of The New York Times Op-Ed article in 2018 whose description of President Trump as “impetuous, adversarial, petty and ineffective” roiled Washington and set off a hunt for his identity, Mr. Taylor confirmed Wednesday.

Mr. Taylor was also the anonymous author of “A Warning,” a book he wrote the following year that described the president as an “undisciplined” and “amoral” leader whose abuse of power threatened the foundations of American democracy. He acknowledged that he was the author of both the book and the opinion article in an interview and in a three-page statement he posted online.

Mr. Taylor resigned from the Department of Homeland Security in June 2019, and went public with his criticism of Mr. Trump this past summer. He released a video just before the start of the Republican National Convention declaring that the president was unfit for office and endorsed Joseph R. Biden Jr., the Democratic presidential nominee.

Zuckerberg: We Censored the Hunter Biden Story Because an Unnamed Individual at the FBI Told Us to be On the Lookout for Russian Disinformation

Two possibilities:

1. The FBI gave him a general, nonspecific warning about Russian disinformation, and Zuckerberg is just using this as an excuse for his own company's partisan censorship.

2. More chillingly -- the FBI, which was sitting on the laptop for a year and thereby keeping the story bottled-up, took the extra step of poisoning the well and claiming that the story was Russian disinformation to Zuckerberg, to make sure it got censored if it did come out.

If Zuckerberg's telling the truth, it's #2.

Who is this person at the FBI doing extra credit homework for the Biden campaign? If he's assisting in censorship of public information, we have the right to know who he is.

Is it Christopher Wray, by any chance?

"One of the threats that the FBI has alerted our company and the public to was the possibility of a hack and leak operation in the days or weeks leading up to this election," Zuckerberg said. "So you had both public testimony from the FBI and in private meetings alerts that were given--at least to our company, I assume the others as well--that suggested we be on high alert and sensitivity that if a trove of documents appeared, that we should view that with suspicion that it might be part of a foreign manipulation attempt."

The FBI has had the computer and hard drive of Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden in its possession for almost a year.

Biden’s Path to 270 Widens, Trump’s Path Narrows, as Texas Moves to Toss Up

Amy Walter

October 28, 2020

Less than a week out from Election Day and President Donald Trump is playing catch-up. In 2016, he won 30 states (and Maine's 2nd Congressional District) and their 306 electoral votes. Today, just 20 states, worth 125 electoral votes, are safely in his column. Former Vice President Joe Biden is holding 24 states worth 290 electoral votes in his column.

October 2020 Electoral College Ratings

To win the election, Trump will need to win every state we currently have in the Toss Up column: Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Iowa, Ohio, Maine's 2nd CD, as well as the newest addition, Texas. Even then, Trump would be 22 electoral votes short of 270. He would need to win at least two of the seven states currently sitting in Lean Democrat: Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada and New Hampshire. Trump carried all but Minnesota, Nevada and New Hampshire in 2016.

At this point, Ohio and Maine's 2nd District are probably the most promising for Trump, followed by Texas and Iowa. If he were to win all of those, he'd be at 188 electoral votes, still 82 votes shy of 270. Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina are pure Toss Ups with Biden ahead by anywhere from 1 to 2 points in those states.

Even if Trump were to win all of those states, he'd then need to move into the Lean Democratic territory where Arizona, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania offer the best opportunities. If you just looked at polling averages, Arizona would be the best opportunity for Trump. Biden has a small — but steady — 3 point lead. Even so, given Trump's unpopularity among suburban voters, it's hard to see how he makes up needed ground in Maricopa (Phoenix).

Trump is in danger.

Trumpism members have a high emotional investment

The conditions for the spread of mental disease is emotional investment.  Folie à deux describes shared madness within a pair, but here we will focus on folie à groupe, or the spread of mental symptoms in a group.  The group can be a household (folie à famille), a prison dormitory or cell-block, a religious or other highly emotionally-bonded group, a community, or a nation.  Members may have high emotional investment in the primary person because of family relations, gang affiliation, cultic programming, or similar symptoms to start.  Pathology in the primary individual facilitates transmission: a compulsive drive to "tweet", a desire to deny reality coupled with propaganda, intolerance of uncertainty leading to pressures of conformity, and an insatiable need for adulation driving addiction-inducing, hypnotic rallies.  These symptoms create the ideal conditions for additional transmission of symptoms.

As symptoms spread, cognitive distortions, delusions, and other manifestations take on an emotional power that are difficult to match with normal responses.  Induced delusions function like primary delusions, wherein resistance is too great for evidence or truth to gain traction.  Those who try to maintain their grounding in reality experience stress, anxiety, ostracism and exhaustion and may eventually submit.  When it originates in disease, it is different from culture but is more aptly called a "cultural disorder."

Russia never stopped messing with our elections

OPINION

How do Trump's extraordinary betrayals stand up against history? He could be the worst.

Putting Trump in context is the best way to highlight and understand his betrayals. History is the highest court, and its verdict can't be appealed.

DAVID ROTHKOPF | OPINION COLUMNIST | 9:21 am EDT October 27, 2020

It is not a small thing to call the president of the United States a traitor. But it is an even greater offense to fail to call him one if he has betrayed his country as often and as egregiously as Donald Trump has done.

We have seen him use the power of his office to reward and celebrate the Russians and to condemn Americans in the CIA and the FBI and elsewhere who would seek to impede the Russian attacks on our democracy. We have watched him undermine the rule of law in the United States and alter U.S. policy in ways that empowered the Russians and, specifically, enabled them to interfere yet again in our elections.

Relentless adversary: Russia never stopped trying to sway elections and sow mistrust. Best thing to do is vote.

The Russia betrayal is the original sin of the Trump presidency. And since Russian President Vladimir Putin helped Trump win office, not a week has gone by that we have not been confronted by its consequences — attacks on our allies, classified information handed over in the Oval Office, hacks put atop the intelligence community to suppress warnings about Russia, messages from the president validating Putin propaganda over the findings of U.S. national security professionals, embracing Russian positions on issues like Ukraine, giving Russia a free hand in Syria, pulling out of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty in a way to give Russia more freedom to develop its defenses.

He has degraded America on the global stage and profoundly weakened us.

All that is the price of his betrayals to date. Should he be given four more years to carry them forward, our democracy might never recover. The Chief Justice is going to get attacked by the President.

The Supreme Court refused Wednesday to take another look, on a lightning fast track, at the issue of late arriving mail ballots in the presidential battleground state of Pennsylvania, leaving intact a lower court ruling that said the state must count ballots that arrive up to three days after the election.

It was the second time Republicans asked the court to roll back the deadline. They lost Oct. 19 on a 4-4 vote, when the justices denied their request to put a hold on a lower court order extending the deadline.

Wednesday’s vote was 5-3, with Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Neil Gorsuch saying the court should have taken the case immediately.

Justice Barrett recuses herself from Pennsylvania voting case

In trying again, the Republicans apparently hoped that newly appointed Justice Amy Coney Barrett's arrival would help them prevail. But she sat this one out, taking no part in the consideration or disposition of the motion. A court spokeswoman said that was "because of the need for a prompt resolution of it and because she has not had time to fully review the parties’ filings."

The issue could be pivotal in Pennsylvania, where more than 3 million people have requested mail ballots, nearly half the number of total votes cast four years ago. President Donald Trump won the state in 2016 by just over 44,000 votes, a margin of less than 1 percentage point.

Because Democrats have asked for three times the number of mail ballots this year as Republicans, any rejection of late arriving ballots would likely hurt Joe Biden more than Trump.

Voters in the state can request a mail ballot as late as seven days before the election, and it must be delivered to them within two days after the request is received, leaving only a short time for the completed ballot to be delivered.

Appearing on on Fox Business Network’s Kennedy Tuesday night, President Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani became enraged after being compared to Christopher Steele, the man behind the infamous, and questionable, Steele dossier. The host, whose full name is Lisa Kennedy Montgomery, made the comparison as Giuliani repeatedly pushed uncorroborated allegations about Joe Biden’s son Hunter, allegations that originally appeared in the New York Post. Giuliani supplied the Post with the story that most news outlets passed on over concerns about credibility. Fox News passed on the story for those exact concerns, and it was even reported that the New York Post writer refused to put his name on it. Despite pushing unverified, salacious allegations, as did Steele, Giuliani took the comparison as a personal affront.

“Some could say that you are acting like Christopher Steele,” Kennedy said. “That you are abstracting information, and because…” “You gotta be kidding me,” Giuliani interrupted. “I was acting like Christopher Steele?” “That’s what it sounds like,” Kennedy retorted. “When you look at…” “You better apologize!” Giuliani cut her off once more. “You better apologize for that!”

From that point on, the interview was pretty much off the rails.

“What you are saying is an outrageous defamation of me. Of my reputation. Every single thing is here, and I want you to look at it and then apologize to me!” Giuliani screamed at Kennedy, later adding, “I came on your show in good faith to give you evidence that is being withheld from the American people, and I get defamed! That’s outrageous!”

Kennedy tried to move on, asking, “Are you still working on behalf of the president?” But Giuliani had had enough, saying, “I think our interview — I think our interview is now over.” “I haven’t even gotten to the part about Borat,” Kennedy responded.

Giuliani may wish he had actually ended the interview right then because Kennedy did eventually get to the part about Borat. Giuliani unwittingly became the target of one of Sacha Baron Cohen’s pranks in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, released last Friday. In it, Giuliani finds himself in a questionable situation with Borat’s 15-year-old daughter Tutar, played by 24-year-old Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova.

“Do you regret your interaction in the Borat movie?” Kennedy asked. Giuliani replied, “Now that’s a stupid question, isn’t it?” “No, it’s not stupid at all…” “That’s really a stupid question,” Giuliani interrupted. “I have a 15-year-old daughter,” Kennedy said. “I watched that and I was kinda grossed out by it.”

Coronavirus hospitalizations are rising much more dramatically in places that don’t require people to wear a face mask, according to a new Vanderbilt University analysis.

The big picture: The findings reinforce what experts have been saying for months: Masks — and mask mandates — work. They will not vanquish the coronavirus on their own, but they help. A lot.

Coronavirus hospitalizations are up across the board, both nationwide and in Tennessee. But they’re rising far more modestly in places that require masks.

By the numbers: The Vanderbilt analysis compares Tennessee hospitals based on how many of their patients come from counties with mask requirements.

In hospitals where at least 75% of patients are subject to a local mask requirement, COVID hospitalizations are at about the same level now as they were July 1.In hospitals where fewer than 25% of patients are subject to a local mask mandate, however, hospitalizations are more than 200% higher than their July 1 levels.

Where it stands: Roughly 43,000 people are in the hospital right now for coronavirus infections, according to the COVID Tracking Project.

Many states are seeing more hospitalizations now than they have at any other point in the pandemic, and some localized areas are beginning to worry about running out of beds.

The bottom line: Masks are not a silver bullet; nothing is. As the Vanderbilt analysis notes, places with mask mandates may also see better adherence to other safety measures, including social distancing.

This is one more piece of evidence that those interventions work. They reduce the risk of transmitting the virus at all, and may reduce the risk of serious illness when some transmission does occur.

Assistant Secretary of Health Adm. Brett Giroir, who leads the federal government's coronavirus testing response, pushed back on Wednesday against President Trump's continued claims that rising coronavirus cases are a product of increased testing.

The big picture: Every available piece of data shows that the pandemic is getting worse again across the country. Hospitalizations are on the rise — and some hospitals are warning that they could soon be overwhelmed — while 13 states set new highs last week for coronavirus infections recorded in a single day.

What he's saying: "But, between July, August, September, October now, we do believe and the data show that the cases are going up. It's not just a function of testing. Yes, we're getting more cases identified. But the cases are actually going up. And we know that too because hospitalizations are going up."

"And we do know that deaths are increasing, unfortunately."

Giroir emphasized that "wearing a mask, avoiding crowds, especially indoors," and increasing testing are all crucial strategies against COVID.

“What I would want to emphasize is that we will have a vaccine. We will have a safe and effective vaccine," Giroir said. "But until that time we have to do what we can do.”

It's not just around the corner like the President falsely claimed.

PHOENIX — Republican President Donald Trump and Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris held rallies 30 miles apart Wednesday, six days before Election Day, in this battleground state poised to shape the outcome of the race.

But voters could be forgiven for thinking they were running in two different universes.

In Trump's world, the coronavirus crisis is exaggerated and the biggest danger to the country is a threat of socialism or communism, while top-of-mind issues include allegations of corruption by Joe Biden's son Hunter and a "deep state" of government officials plotting against the president.

In the Biden-Harris world, the pandemic is an overarching issue that is crushing middle-class pocketbooks, health care access is threatened by an incompetent president and the country is on a knife's edge between a return to normalcy and a march to authoritarianism.

Manufacturing job growth in Ohio has been stagnant under Trump. The president’s much-hyped Foxconn project in Wisconsin, which he once promised would create 13,000 jobs, had employed fewer than 300 people by the end of 2019; the building that was supposed to be a new factory is now, according to a recent Verge report, “an empty shell.”

The trade deficit is up. He’s appointed Supreme Court justices who have ruled against organized labor rights.

“THE BIG DIFFERENCE IS NOW YOU’VE GOT A RECORD TO RUN ON. THE DONALD TRUMP RECORD HAS NOT BEEN A GOOD RECORD FOR WORKING PEOPLE.”

Trump’s record on health care and Covid-19 could hurt him with these voters too. Union members are sensitive to the same pocketbook issues as everybody else. Those workers generally secure their health insurance through collective bargaining, but they tend to be more progressive on the issue, even if they identify as Republican, according to a survey analysis by Miami University’s Kevin Reuning and union activist C.M. Lewis.

Workers are certainly aware of rising health care costs. Totty said his union went on strike last year because the company wanted to raise their premiums to cover higher prices. They will likely be arguing over health care again in a few years when their current contract is up, he said, unless costs are restrained.

FOX NEWS
Sen. Dick Durbin:
I'm voting for Joe Biden because America needs him as president
America needs a president who will restore trust and accountability to our government
By Sen. Dick Durbin | Fox News

There’s no doubt you’ve heard this before, but 2020 really is the most impactful election of our lifetimes. Our country is in the middle of several crises: the coronavirus pandemic, economic recession and civil unrest.

Time and again, President Trump has proven that he does not have the temperament, preparedness, or judgment to lead our country. Former Vice President Joe Biden is the right person at the right time. I am proud to cast my vote for him as our next president.

America needs a president who will restore trust and accountability to our government. Biden will be that president.

From the very beginning of this global health crisis, Trump dismissed the severity of the coronavirus, called it a hoax, shifted blame, and contradicted the advice of our nation’s medical experts.

Biden will listen to science and the experts. With 4% of the world’s population, the United States has about 20% of its reported COVID-19 deaths. Had President Trump taken this seriously from the beginning — as Joe Biden and many others encouraged him to do — we would have been able to save lives and save jobs.

Our country needs a president who understands that most Americans worry more about the supermarket than the stock market. Families struggling paycheck to paycheck need a leader who remembers them every day.

Even before the pandemic, the Trump administration supported policies that put corporations ahead of working families. Biden knows we need to reverse many of Trump’s tax cuts for large corporations and the ultrawealthy, which have cost Americans $2 trillion.

America needs a president who will expand the protections of the Affordable Care Act so every family, every person has access to affordable, quality health care. Joe Biden will be that president.

I worry about returning to the dark days when insurance companies charged more, denied coverage, imposed lifetime limits, excluded basic benefits from plans, and prohibited young adults under the age of 26 from staying on their parent’s coverage.

If the Affordable Care Act is overturned — which President Trump is still trying to do in the middle of a pandemic — the more than 8 million Americans who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 could be discriminated against by insurance companies because of their preexisting condition. This is what is at stake.

We need a president who can start to heal the wounds of this divided nation — someone whom we can tell our children is a good, caring, honorable person who will lead our nation in the tradition of our best leaders in both political parties.

Joe Biden will be that man and will be that president. He’s taken his own experiences with loss and hardship and used those lessons to give people in America reasons to hope and ways to heal.

Biden has the personal experience, the plans, and the character to be a president for all Americans. We need new leadership, and that leader is Joe Biden.

And if papers like the NYT can't report about him truthfully they need to get out of the business.

Miles Taylor - a low level douche nozzle whose only claim to fame was carrying the DHS secretary's tampon satchel.

and he lied directly to anderson vanderbilt's face on TV, and XiNN keeps him on as an "anal"yst anyway.

LOL.

So Taylor was neither a senior administration official nor a principled conservative. The only thing that is really known about him is that he is capable and willing of lying, as he did on air when asked by Anderson Cooper if he was “anonymous.”

If The New York Times was willing to lie about how high-level its anonymous source was for their very high-profile September 2018 information operation, imagine the lies they’re willing to tell about all the other anonymous sources they use. If the New York Times is willing to deceive readers about how high this author’s perch was, imagine how much other papers and media outlets are willing to lie in support of their anti-Trump narratives.

Every time you read in an outlandish Big Media narrative that an anonymous source is “senior,” interpret it as “junior.” And if the reporters don’t even bother with that level of characterization, assume it’s someone they met on the street.

Anonymous sources have occasionally been necessary for journalists. Their overuse, mischaracterization, and lack of accountability in the age of Trump journalism is clearly out of control.

Trump won election four years ago in part by exploiting long-running divisions within our body politic. He gave voice, and presence, to some of the darker themes and elements of American society, past and present.

As Americans rose in protest over police officers killing Black people — which should outrage any real political conservative — the president, rather than seeking to understand and address the systemic problems that propelled people to the streets, instead disparaged the protesters. He seized on scattered acts of vandalism and violence to dismiss the rightful and righteous demands of tens of thousands of Americans that their government recognize the problems for which it had long been partially responsible and try to fix them.

Great leaders through history often emerged by being the right person at the right time. Abraham Lincoln, with whom Trump so falsely compares himself, was such a leader. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who helped pull the nation out of the Great Depression and the world through the rise of fascism, also comes to mind.

Trump, though, not only is the wrong person for the crises of the time — the pandemic, the deep recession it triggered, global warming and a society fraying under the stresses of racism, personal financial hardship and a dangerously widening gulf between the haves and the have-nots — he is the wrong person for any moment.

And now is the moment to bring the sorry Trump saga to an end. Fearing a true verdict of the American voters, the president has actively sought to game the outcome of Tuesday’s election by undermining public faith in the voting system — our democracy — itself, serving a similar end to that pursued by Russian meddlers and other foreign interests who see their own gain from a disunited United States. That is not leadership. It is the flailing of an immoderate mind, and, we can only hope, the frustration of a desperate politician who finds himself running in sand.

In the final week before Election Day, new coronavirus infections have soared to an all-time high — virtually guaranteeing that the pandemic will be the most prominent issue in America as voters prepare to choose the next president.

The big picture: Cases are surging and local hospitals are straining at the very moment that voters are choosing between President Trump, who continues to insist that the pandemic is almost over, and Joe Biden, who has made the crisis a centerpiece of his campaign.

Where it stands: On average, nearly 72,000 people tested positive for the coronavirus every day over the past week. That’s the highest seven-day average on record.

Twice in the past week, the U.S. has set a new record for the most cases in a single day.
The virus gained strength over the past week in 41 states, including nearly every important battleground state.
New infections were up 16% in Arizona, 21% in Florida, 22% in Ohio, 23% in Wisconsin, 25% in Michigan and 33% in Pennsylvania.
The only exception was North Carolina, where infections held steady at about 2,200 per day.
What’s next: This third wave of infections is already beginning to strain hospitals’ resources in some parts of the country, and will inevitably lead to more deaths. It has already killed nearly 220,000 Americans.

Wisconsin, for example, reported new single-day records for cases, hospitalizations and deaths — all in the same day.
This will almost certainly get worse before it gets better. The virus is expected to spread more easily as colder weather causes people to move their socializing indoors.
The bottom line: Eight months into this pandemic, not only has the U.S. failed to contain the virus, it’s spreading faster than ever.

It's just going to disappear up your ass.

The strong GDP figure also camouflages the K-shaped nature of the recovery that has caused economic sectors such as housing to rebound strongly, while other industries like airlines and restaurants remain moribund.

“The utility of a number like GDP is to get it all in one shot,” said Ross Mayfield, an investment strategy analyst at Baird. But a single number doesn’t reflect the breadth of economic circumstances American households and businesses face today, he said. “Particularly in a recovery like this, it’s really hiding the fact that there's a bifurcation.”

For President Donald Trump, this isn’t great news. Market observers say the GDP bounce is too little, too late to move the needle with voters. “The advantage given traditionally to President Trump in respect of economic performance has now totally disappeared,” said Ludovic Subran, chief economist at Allianz SE. “Despite some progress on the job front, the lead of Biden compared with Trump has rather increased.”

Staking his claim to a second term on record-low unemployment and steady — albeit slowing — economic growth might have looked like a winning gambit for Trump at the beginning of the year, but the pandemic upended those plans. In a year when the news cycle whipsawed from one crisis to the next, and with less than a week to go before a historically high-stakes election, Wall Street and voters alike are more focused on what comes next, and on the economic threats that still cast a shadow over the recovery.

Howard Schneider

(Reuters) - In the early days of what became a historic public health crisis, the novel coronavirus was, in the lexicon of U.S. politics, a "blue state" problem - centered in East and West Coast areas, particularly New York and New Jersey, that voted against President Donald Trump in 2016.

It remained so for weeks, and that fact defined what became battle lines between mask wearers and skeptics, and between those convinced restrictions on commerce were needed to save lives versus those who wanted less government intervention.

Now, though, it is squarely a "Trump country" issue.

Trump trails in opinion polls ahead of the Nov. 3 election, partly on the basis of his handling of a pandemic that saw him feuding with state governors, questioning government scientists, and hesitant to frame a national response to a crisis that easily spread across state lines. He refused to change course even after catching the disease himself and requiring hospitalization.

Third Party Candidate Urges No One Vote for Him

“Bill Bledsoe, the third-party candidate in the hotly contested Senate race between GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham and Democrat Jaime Harrison, has a message for South Carolinians:
Don’t vote for me.

“Harrison’s campaign and several Democratic outside groups opposing Graham have elevated Bledsoe in TV ads this month, an effort to siphon off conservative voters who may be dissatisfied with Graham, potentially boosting Harrison’s chances against the three-term senator in the deep red state. It’s not an unusual tactic to elevate third-party candidates in tight races, where just a few percentage points could make the difference, and public polling this month has shown the race to be highly competitive.

“But the effort in South Carolina has come after Bledsoe suspended his campaign on Oct. 1 — too late to be removed from the ballot — and endorsed Graham.”

Jockeying for Jobs In a Biden Administration Intensifies
10:23 am

“Senior advisers and allies of Joe Biden have been bombarded with emails, texts and phone calls from Democrats looking for jobs in a potential Biden administration as the jockeying for key positions shifts into high gear ahead of the election,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“Mr. Biden, long superstitious about elections, has so far avoided making detailed plans about who will serve in his administration if he wins, leading to a waterfall of speculation, but little concrete information about what his cabinet and administration might look like. A Biden transition official said he isn’t making any personnel decisions pre-election.”

Trump’s Job DIS-Approval May Hint at Outcome
10:03 am

First Read points out the direct correlation between a sitting president’s job rating and his ballot position:

In 1984, Ronald Reagan’s job rating was 58%;
he got 58.8% of the vote.

In 1992, George H.W. Bush’s rating was 36%;
he got 37.4% of the vote.

In 1996, Bill Clinton’s approval was 56%;
he got 49.2% in that three-way race.

In 2004, George W. Bush’s approval was 49%;
he got 50.7% of the vote.

And in 2012, Barack Obama’s approval was 49%;
he got 51.1% of the vote.

President Trump?
His job rating in our most recent national NBC/WSJ poll was
44%.

Wisconsin Republicans Claim Hackers Stole $2.3 Million
9:55 am

Hackers stole $2.3 million from the Wisconsin Republican party’s account meant to help reelect President Trump in the key battleground state, the AP reports.

Republican Party Chairman Andrew Hitt said the hackers “were able to manipulate invoices from four vendors who were being paid to send out direct mail for Trump’s reelection efforts and to provide pro-Trump material such as hats that could be handed out to supporters. Invoices were altered so when the party paid them, the money went to the hackers instead of the vendors.”
