We should remind ourselves of one reality...

An Asian is more likely to be attacked by a black person than by any other race, including other Asians.

I know it doesn't fit the narrative that our racism problems are driven almost entirely by White people, but the statistics clearly show otherwise. This is a classic example of unhinged racism that most liberals will tend to ignore or otherwise defend because it involves a person of color.

What a PIECE OF TRASH this thread is.
Let's ennoble it with something worth considering.

AXIOS:
Biden’s Eye-On-The-Prize Strategy

“President Biden revealed in vivid display this week the thinking animating his 100-day plan:

Do not allow outside events to take his eye off the make-or-break imperatives of virus eradication and economic growth."

Said Biden:
“Successful presidents — better than me — have been successful, in large part, because they know how to time what they’re doing — order it, decide and prioritize what needs to be done.”

Playbook:
“Over and over in the East Room, the president made it clear Thursday that he’s in control of the timing of his legislative priorities and that he would not allow events to overtake his plans.

"Guns, immigration, voting rights, filibuster reform — the big issues that have intervened recently and that dominated questioning by reporters — would have to wait.”

Gary Abernathy:
“The most impressive revelation on Thursday from President Biden’s first news conference was that he has a plan and he intends to stick with it.”

The problem is, this just isn't true.

One recent study has provided the justification for the claim that non-whites where the majority of perpetrators of Asian-American hate crimes. The study was published in the American Journal of Criminal Justice in January, and it was based on data from 1992-2014. But the study clearly indicates that the identities of the perpetrators of hate crimes against Asian-Americans are overwhelmingly white: 74.6 percent of these crimes are committed by white assailants. Importantly, according to the methodology in the study, there is a ~20-fold difference in the cases of hate crimes reported against African-Americans (5,463) compared to Asian-Americans (329), which explains the large difference in percentage of non-white assailants by race.

It's true that the data does not cover the current spate of attacks. But it seems unlikely that a drastic change in the profile of the perpetrators of Asian American violence would occur without some significant external impetus.

Some have suggested that the COVID-19 pandemic provided just such an external impetus. And yet, the person who insisted on associating the virus with China, allowing the wrong and dangerous association to spill over to Chinese Americans, was President Donald Trump, not exactly a hero among African American

And just as there's no evidence to suggest that the majority of these attacks are being perpetrated by Black Americans, there's no evidence to that other claim one hears a lot, that the lack of initial attention to these crimes reveals that the mainstream media is not reporting these incidents in order to protect the racial identity of the attackers.

This conspiracy theory proposes that the media is protecting African American men, an ironic claim to say the least; if the media were doing such a thing, it would be the first time in history. Historically, media representations of African American males—especially young men—have disproportionately portrayed them as criminals, to disastrous effect.

Moreover, the idea that African Americans are being protected in this instance as perpetrators doesn't pass the red face test.

Not only has the media not protected these assailants, but these videos of Black youths maliciously assaulting Asian-American elders have become the face of #AsianHate, giving the false impression, taken up by writers in these articles, that they are representative of the wave of violence, without any real evidence to back it up.

Well said, Roger!

and now here's some more GOOD READING:

ROOSEVELT. JOHNSON. BIDEN.

Charlie Cook:
“Anyone who referred to Biden a year ago as a ‘centrist’ probably got carried away.
One could have plausibly argued that he has long been in the ideological center of the Democratic Party, but he’s pretty far from the 50-yard line of the electorate as a whole. Still, his ideological posture of late has been surprising.

“It shouldn’t surprise us any longer. It is becoming increasingly apparent that the parliamentary maneuvering over the stimulus wasn’t merely a tactical decision to skip the bipartisan approach; it was more strategic, more foundational…

“Some wags used to joke that Biden was the type of politician who could put out the fire in a fireside chat. But truly, Biden’s agenda is more reminiscent of Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal or Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society than the more modest and forgettable Fair Deal of Harry Truman, Bill Clinton’s New Covenant, or Jimmy Carter’s New Spirit. As our nation’s 47th vice president once said about another expansion of federal authority, ‘this is a big f***king deal.'”

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT, JOE!

"Sharp as a Tack’

Politico:
“Biden’s fitness for office,
a longtime fixation among conservatives, is dominating conversations on the right as Trump openly sows doubts about the health of the man who defeated him. One Republican senator recently texted an acquaintance his private suspicions that Biden, the oldest president in history, is mentally unwell.

BUT
“In on-the-record interviews, however, seven GOP senators who’ve met with Biden lately described him as cogent and well-versed on the issues they discussed. And none echoed the warnings many pro-Trump Republicans have issued about Biden amid the chatter about his stair-stepping acumen.”

Said Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV):
“In the two meetings I was in with the president, he was as sharp as a tack.”

SHARP AS A TACK BIDEN!

Sorry Roger...

But you are confusing violent incidences (which is an objective statistic) with "hate crimes" which are not objective or even something I would consider to be a real statistic.

When a white guy beats up his black wife... do her bruises and such hurt more if it is labeled a "hate crime". I seriously doubt it.

"Hate crimes" are a way for liberals to muddy up objective facts with subjective opinion.

rrb said...

The whole concept of hate crimes is bullshit, and serves only as a method by liberals to assign some sort of elite status to certain groups, as part of their overall identity politics nonsense.

NYC blacks beat Asians AND Jews like it's their fucking job. It just so happens that the Asians are getting the spotlight lately.

More nefarious is the overt discrimination of high-achieving Asians in education, mostly in the Ivy League. Harvard specifically, which is doing to Asians today what it did to Jews in the 1920's.

Statement by President Biden on the Attack on the Right to Vote in Georgia

MARCH 26, 2021 • SPEECHES AND REMARKS

More Americans voted in the 2020 elections than any election in our nation’s history. In Georgia we saw this most historic demonstration of the power of the vote twice – in November and then again in the runoff election for the U.S. Senate seats in January. Recount after recount and court case after court case upheld the integrity and outcome of a clearly free, fair, and secure democratic process.

Yet instead of celebrating the rights of all Georgians to vote or winning campaigns on the merits of their ideas, Republicans in the state instead rushed through an un-American law to deny people the right to vote. This law, like so many others being pursued by Republicans in statehouses across the country is a blatant attack on the Constitution and good conscience. Among the outrageous parts of this new state law, it ends voting hours early so working people can’t cast their vote after their shift is over. It adds rigid restrictions on casting absentee ballots that will effectively deny the right to vote to countless voters. And it makes it a crime to provide water to voters while they wait in line – lines Republican officials themselves have created by reducing the number of polling sites across the state, disproportionately in Black neighborhoods.

This is Jim Crow in the 21st Century. It must end. We have a moral and Constitutional obligation to act. I once again urge Congress to pass the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to make it easier for all eligible Americans access the ballot box and prevent attacks on the sacred right to vote.

And I will take my case to the American people – including Republicans who joined the broadest coalition of voters ever in this past election to put country before party.

If you have the best ideas, you have nothing to hide. Let the people vote.

Georgia Already Being Sued Over New Voting Law
BLOOMBERG:
“Georgia’s elections chief was sued by a group of nonprofit civic organizations that claim a new voting law signed Thursday by the state’s Republican governor will make it harder for minorities to cast ballots.

“The lawsuit, against Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, is one of the first challenges to a wave of voting restrictions taking shape in state legislatures across the country. It was filed late Thursday, right after the law passed, by groups including the New Georgia Project and the Black Voters Matter Fund.”

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Georgia has officially passed its "Brad Raffensperger Is a Traitor" Act, which reduces the power of the Secretary of State to oversee vote counting. This was prompted, of course, by Raffensperger's unwillingness to cheat in order to "find" a few thousand more votes for Donald Trump, something that horrified Georgia's Republican Party. To prevent this from ever happening again, the bill removes the Secretary of State as chairman of the State Election Board and instead makes it a position that's appointed directly by the state legislature. This should ensure that the head of the board can be expected to toe the party line in future elections.

Among the weirder provisions is one that prohibits people from handing out water to people who are in line to vote. Seriously.

But why? This is so obviously malicious that it makes Georgia look like a goon state. It might not be Bull Connor and his firehoses, but it sure has the amateur-hour flavor of old-school Jim Crow. You can almost imagine a passel of good ol' boys chewing the fat when one of them says, Hey, I heard that colored folks dehydrate faster than white folks. Maybe we should take away their water.

Among the weirder provisions is one that prohibits people from handing out water to people who are in line to vote. Seriously.

The law will create statewide elected officials to limit the existing power of local election boards (which are generally local hacks who have too much stake in things) and limits the SOS from having too much control.

The law actually increases Sunday voting, not decreases it. Two more weekends will be added.

The law will ban the practice of "line warming" where advocacy groups who otherwise are not allowed to campaign at polling stations often times go and offer "refreshments" to people in line, but are generally wearing campaign attire carrying campaign propaganda, etc...

Unless you are part of an advocacy group who is otherwise trying to skirt the laws against campaigning at a polling station, nobody will arrest John Doe for handing an extra bottle of water to the person next to them.

Boy oh boy, are some people just woefully misinformed.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Lord knows you white nationalists make plenty of mention on a small number of attacks on Asians by mentally unstable black folks.  One would believe this is the major discrimination against Asian Americans.  In reality, it is just a small share of aggressions and attacks.  Most of them committed by white people.
