No Black Lives do not matter to liberals... politics matters to liberals

The effects of Black Lives Matter protests
From 2014 to 2019, Campbell tracked more than 1,600 BLM protests across the country, largely in bigger cities, with nearly 350,000 protesters. His main finding is a 15 to 20 percent reduction in lethal use of force by police officers — roughly 300 fewer police homicides — in census places that saw BLM protests.

Campbell’s research also indicates that these protests correlate with a 10 percent increase in murders in the areas that saw BLM protests. That means from 2014 to 2019, there were somewhere between 1,000 and 6,000 more homicides than would have been expected if places with protests were on the same trend as places that did not have protests. Campbell’s research does not include the effects of last summer’s historic wave of protests because researchers do not yet have all the relevant data…
Omar Wasow, a professor at Princeton University who has done seminal research on the effect of protests, told Vox that the results are “entirely plausible” and “not surprising,” considering existing protest research.

So in effect, because the protests and BLM movement, there were approximately 300 lives saved from police homicides, but somewhere between 1000-6000 more murders overall. So these protests and riots and the political fallout accounted for somewhere between 700-5700 more black people dead.

So the issue really isn't about saving lives and it never has been. It's about exploiting "certain" lives for the sake political posturing and ignoring the deaths of the vast majority of black people because it is inconvenient or otherwise detrimental to the cause.

It reminds me of the Animal House scene were Niedermeyer is berating Flounder on the football field, and Otter and Boone make the argument while practicing their golf swings that he cannot do that to their pledges, only they can do that to their pledges.

By the same principle, it's much better to see thousands of black people dead at the hands of other black people than to see a fraction of blacks being killed by police. The classic cutting of your own nose to spite your face. This makes no sense to me, but I guess that is one of the many reasons that I find the BLM movement to be more destructive than helpful and why I don't support it as it currently stands in real practice.

Don't get me wrong. The "concept" is certainly not a problem. It just doesn't seem to be run in any manner that has any semblance of logic.

The COPS in the US have no duty to respond. No Duty to act.

They should fully embrace the USSC Cases affirming this Constitutional safegaurd.

Question -

In Columbus, which black life mattered?

The one swinging the knife or the one saved by the cop?

Great Question, I hope all of the Three Socialist Stooges of CHT answer.

LOS ANGELES, CA—A huge crowd turned out Sunday for the Hans Gruber memorial service. Gruber was the victim of police violence, having been thrown from Nakatomi Plaza by police officer John McClane, which many consider one of the most excessive uses of force ever witnessed. After the incident, there were protests all week, and now thousands from all over the country came to pay respects to Gruber, widely described as an “intelligent and witty soul.”

“That man was a hero,” said Doyle Graham, who traveled from Nevada to pay respects. “I mean, I don’t really know much about him other than that some police officer killed him, but he seems like someone we should all honor and emulate.”

Gruber was part of a mainly peaceful protest against the Nakatomi Corporation, which was goaded into violence by the actions of McClane. Ultimately, McClane threw Gruber from the 30th floor, even though Gruber was completely unarmed (or at least he was when he hit the ground). Even LAPD Deputy Chief Dwayne T. Robinson denounced the actions, calling McClane a “nutcase” who should have “just stayed put.”

Many at the memorial are now wearing shirts with “Gruber” written on them to remember the man who was taken too soon thanks to unaccountable police actions. There are calls for the arrest of John McClane, including from Hans Gruber’s brother, Simon, who vows to do something about him.

Just wanted to let everyone know Baltimore City is down 700 police officers. 2 precincts will be closed due to shortage. It will be a deadly year.

RIP to all of the victims in advance.

@MayorBMScott go ahead get your “If anyone knows who did this...” tweet in the drafts.

Many more black lives will end this year.

The quality of life will decline for everyone else.

Thank BLM and their supporters

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) told reporters Wednesday he plans to reintroduce his police reform bill or a similar proposal in the coming weeks and that he has discussed a potential compromise with Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.).

Why it matters: Eyes have again turned to Washington to take steps to address police reform in the wake of Derek Chauvin's guilty verdict Tuesday, after efforts stalled in Congress last year.

After Floyd's death last summer, Democrats led by Bass and Republicans led by Scott introduced two different bills to reform policing. There was significant momentum for action, but neither bill gained enough support to become law, and the debate largely devolved into partisan bickering.

What they're saying: "There is a way to put more of the onus or the burden on the department or on the employer than on the employee," Scott, the lone Black GOP senator, told reporters on Capitol Hill. "I think that is a logical step forward, and ... it's something that the Democrats are quite receptive to."

Enabling victims and victims' families to go after the departments "is a way that we can make progress towards a bill that actually has the kind of impact that I think is helpful," Scott said.Scott added that there are "really only four or five outstanding issues from my perspective": The 1033 program, which provides local and state police with military equipment, ending qualified immunity, and a federal ban on chokehold and "no-knock" warrants."Those ... are the ones that I've been talking about and focused on with Karen [Bass]. And I think we've made tremendous progress," he said, noting that Booker was also "engaged in the conversation" at their last meeting.

What to watch: Scott said the group is "on the verge of wrapping this up in the next week or two."

If this happens next month or so. We might have the first negotiated agreement on police reform.

You didn't post information that the Black Lives Matter more lead to lower crimes many areas.

The effect of BLM protests on police lethal use of force

The major finding in the paper is that places with BLM protests experienced a statistically significant decline in police homicides. Further, the biggest declines are when protests are relatively large and/or frequent.

Studies reveal a link between working out and increased creativity.

Campbell also observes that, over time, the gap in police homicide rates widens between places with and without protests. In year zero, he finds a 13 percent drop in police homicides; by year four, that decline expands by 14 percentage points. That means it’s likely that the effect of BLM protests is strong enough to lower the number of police homicides for several years.

Campbell believes there are three potential mechanisms that could have led to this decline, none of which are mutually exclusive.

First, he observed an increase in the use of body cameras and different types of community policing. It’s possible that, in response to BLM protests, police departments implemented reforms that reduced lethal use of force. Campbell’s research finds a significant increase in the likelihood of an agency obtaining body-worn cameras (55.3 percent), patrol officers within a designated geographic area (20.6 percent), and SARA officers, a type of community policing (57.5 percent).

The existing literature on body cameras is mixed, though, undercutting the idea that widespread body camera use alone is the driving force behind declining instances of police brutality.

A Brookings Institution expert explained that while randomized trials “in American and European police departments found that body worn camera’s reduced the number of complaints filed by local residents against the police ... they showed mixed effects on use of force by and against police officers.” In a major 2017 study conducted in Washington, DC, the researchers found that “the behavior of officers who wore cameras all the time was indistinguishable from the behavior of those who never wore cameras.”

BLM has reduced violence.

It didn't not destroy Minnesota!

The Democratic party has made your state safer from police brutality against people of color.

rrb answers: Hiding in his basement while that bill sponsored by a black man - Tim Scott - was killed so as not to give Trump the appearance of a political victory.

Proof positive that democrats have zero fucks to give about blacks, and only a few fucks to give about black votes.

Instead of blaming law enforcement for their plight the black community should look to how the democrats have been shafting them for the past 50 fucking years.

Hey roger

You do understand if you eliminate police that will correspond to a 100 % decline in police killings ?

But CHT's point was the effect on killings as a whole. If you have less killings by police but that results in a much higher overall murder rate you are hurting the community.

a lot.

and that is what is happening.

The mother who didn't have legal custody of her own child now insists that her knife-wielding daughter was a lovely and peaceful person. I'm so tired of this. Raise your child. Raise them to not try and murder people. Stop blaming the cops for your failures.
---
If my child was shot by cops while trying to stab someone, I would be devastated and heart broken and overwhelmed by grief. But I can damn sure guarantee I wouldn't be out in front of cameras 10 minutes later claiming my child was an angel.

So the video I posted earlier was the natural mother, not the foster parent. But either way that is sure fucked up. She appeared almost happy after losing her child.

The Congressional mass shooting of 2017 was carried out by a deranged Russiagate conspiracy theorist and MSNBC fan named James T Hodgkinson who believed the GOP was full of 'Russian traitors'

He attempted to commit a mass assassination, but the FBI labeled it 'suicide by cop'

The Columbia Bugle

The same FBI that gleefully labeled the Capitol protest an “armed insurrection,” chose to not reveal Officer Sicknick’s cause of death and has spent every day since on a national manhunt for MAGA grandmas.

And still has not released the name of the officer who killed the unarmed Trump protester.

This has to be held up from above
