ry that has no off-switch.”

Its assertions were easily disprovable. No matter. Over the next few
hours, the article was translated from English into Spanish and Polish. It appeared on dozens of blogs and was picked up by anti-vaccination activists, who repeated the false claims online. The article also made its way to Facebook, where it reached 400,000 people, according to data from CrowdTangle, a Facebook-owned tool.

The entire effort traced back to one person: Joseph Mercola.

Dr. Mercola, 67, an osteopathic physician in Cape Coral, Fla., has long been a subject of criticism and government regulatory actions for his promotion of unproven or unapproved treatments. But most recently, he has become the chief spreader of coronavirus misinformation online, according to researchers.

Nancy Mace Falls In Line
July 25, 2021 at 7:12 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
The New York Times profile freshman Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC):
“After setting herself apart from her party during her first week in office by opposing its effort to overturn President Biden’s victory, Ms. Mace has swung back into line.”

“Her pivot helps explain why the Republican Party’s embrace of Mr. Trump and his brand of politics is more absolute than ever. It is not only the small but vocal group of hard-right loyalists of the former president who are driving the alliance, but also the scores of rank-and-file Republicans — even those who may disagree with him, as Ms. Mace has — who have decided it is too perilous to openly challenge him.”

He added: “Cleveland Guardians? What’s that all about? The insanity of the Left knows no bounds, and both Indians and baseball fans should be greatly insulted.”

Four years after the revolution
And the old king's execution
Four years after, remember how
Those courtiers took their final bow

String up every aristocrat
Out with the priests and let then live on their fat

Four years after we started fighting
Marat keeps on with his writing
Four years after the Bastille fell
He still recalls the old battle yell

Down with all of the ruling class
Throw all the generals out on their ass

Why do they have the gold?
Why do they have the power?
Why, why, why, why, why?

Do they have the friends at the top?
Why do they have the jobs at the top?

We've got nothing, always had nothing
Nothing but holes and millions of them
Living in holes, dying in holes
Holes in our bellies and holes in our clothes

Marat, we're poor
And the poor stay poor
Marat, don't make us wait any more
We want our rights and we don't care how
We want a revolution now

Four years he fought and he fought unafraid
Sniffing down traitors, by traitors betrayed
Marat in the courtroom, Marat underground
Sometimes the otter and sometimes the hound
Fighting all the gentry and fighting every priest
The business man, the bourgeois, the military beast

Marat always ready to stifle every scheme
Of the sons of the ass licking dying regime

We've got new generals, our leaders are new
They sit and they argue and all that they do
Is sell their own colleagues and ride upon their backs
Or jail them, or break them, or give them all the ax
Screaming in language that no one understand
Of the rights that we grabbed with our own bleeding hands
When we wiped out the bosses and stormed through the wall
Of the prison they told us would outlast us all

Marat, we're poor
And the poor stay poor
Marat, don't make us wait any more
We want our rights and we don't care how
We want a revolution now

Poor old Marat, they hunt you down
The bloodhounds are sniffing all over the town
Just yesterday your printing press was smashed
Now they're asking your home address

Poor, old Marat, in you we trust
You work till your eyes turn as red as rust
But while you write they're on your track
The boots mount the staircase, the doors thrown back

Poor, old Marat, in you we trust
You work till your eyes turn as red as rust
Poor, old Marat, we trust in you

Marat, we're poor
And the poor stay poor
Marat, don't make us wait any more

We want our rights and we don't care how
We want a revolution NOW

Fact check: Arizona audit chief baselessly raises suspicion about 74,000 ballots
By Daniel Dale and Tara Subramaniam, CNN
Jul 18, 2021
(CNN) - Arizona's Senate held a Thursday briefing on the ongoing Republican-initiated "audit" of the 2020 election in Maricopa County, where Joe Biden outperformed Donald Trump by enough of a margin to win the state.

The review is being conducted by Cyber Ninjas, a cybersecurity firm that has no experience in election auditing. And the company's chief executive officer, Doug Logan, made some Thursday claims that were immediately called into question by the county and independent experts.
Here's a brief look at two of them.
The 74,000 ballots
Logan said that door-to-door questioning of Maricopa County voters is the "one way" the auditors could determine whether what they are seeing in the elections data are "real problems" or "clerical errors of some sort.

"For example, we have 74,243 mail-in ballots where there is no clear record of them being sent," he said.
Logan made clear that this wasn't necessarily a case of fraud, saying it could be a "clerical issue." But his claim about an unexplained 74,000-plus ballot gap between the county's list of mail-in ballots received and its list of mail-in ballots sent out was amplified on Twitter by Liz Harrington, the spokeswoman for former President Donald Trump, and by numerous other Trump supporters, such as Republican Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert. Some of them, including Boebert, went further than Logan did.

"In Arizona, 74,000 ballots were counted with no record of being sent in. That's not normal. That's not right. That's not safe nor is it secure," Boebert wrote.
On Friday, Trump himself went further than Logan. In a written statement, he claimed that the Thursday Senate briefing showed "74,000 mail in ballots received that were never mailed (magically appearing ballots)."

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Facts First: There is no evidence of either fraud or any significant error with these ballots, and certainly not "magically appearing ballots." Both Maricopa County and outside experts say there is a simple explanation for the gap Logan claimed had not been explained: the existence of in-person early voting. Contrary to Logan's claims, the ballot lists he was talking about include not only mail-in ballots but also ballots cast early in person.

Here's why it's entirely normal for Maricopa County's submitted-ballots list to include a significant number of votes that do not match up with entries on the requested-ballots list. After the deadline to request a mail-in ballot, which was October 23 in 2020, the requested-ballot list doesn't get updated by the county. But the submitted-ballots list does get updated after that October 23 deadline -- with the votes of in-person early voters.
Logan's suggestion of some sort of unsolved mystery was definitively debunked by Garrett Archer, an election analyst at ABC15 television in Phoenix and a former official in the Arizona secretary of state's office, who is known locally and on Twitter for his mastery of the state's elections data.

Archer explained that the county stops updating the requested-ballots list, known as "EV32," after the last day people can request a mail ballot, October 23. So ballots cast in person after October 23, Archer said, were included on the submitted-ballots list, known as "EV33," but did not have a corresponding item on the "EV32" requested-ballots list.
Archer analyzed the files and found that there were 74,241 ballots on the submitted-ballots list without a corresponding entry on the requested-ballots list -- nearly identical to the figure Logan cited, "74,243." But Archer found that more than 99.9% of the ballots in question were recorded in the submitted-ballots list on October 26 or later.

That is in line with the October 23 cut-off date Archer had previously noted for the requested-ballots list.
The explanation: October 24 and 25 were weekend days when county clerks didn't update the submitted-ballot list, Archer said, so they added the ballots cast by in-person voters on those weekend days to the submitted-ballot totals starting on October 26.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

"This is a glaring omission in the analysis," Archer tweeted of the auditors. "It is either grossly negligent for failing to see a pattern of ballots being returned after a certain date or the statements were deliberately misleading."
Tammy Patrick, an elections expert who spent more than a decade working at Maricopa County's elections department, also said on Twitter that the requested-ballots list stops getting updated 11 days before Election Day but the submitted-ballots list continues to get updated until the day before Election Day.
Patrick tweeted of the auditors: "AGAIN: They don't know what they're looking at."
Archer said the two EV files are created for the benefit of the political parties' campaign efforts and not meant to be comprehensive records of all ballots, so they are not ideal documents for a forensic audit. The county made a similar remark on Twitter, calling them "not the proper files to refer to for a complete accumulating of all early ballots sent and received."

Meanwhile, some citizens interpreted Logan's remarks as a claim that the total number of mail-in ballots the county recorded as received was higher than the total number the county recorded as having sent out. We don't think that's what Logan actually said, but for the record, Maricopa County tweeted on Friday that this was not true, either.

Without the access Logan's team has, we can't say for certain that there are no errors or issues with the two lists; it's entirely possible that some issue or another will be uncovered at some point. It's possible, Archer said, that there were clerical errors with the small number of ballots -- 29 -- that he found had been recorded on the submitted-ballots list before October 26 but did not have a corresponding entry on the requested-ballots list.

But Logan had suggested there was a massive, unsolved data problem. Experts have made clear that he simply did not understand the data.
Signature verification
Logan also claimed that Maricopa County simply stopped verifying voters' signatures at some point of the election.
"Yeah, we've had an affidavit that specifically stated that when mail in ballots were received that so many of them were received that the standards reduced over time," Logan said. He said the affidavit claimed the verification process started with 20 "points of comparison," then "after some time" was reduced to just 10 points of comparison, then to five points of comparison, "and then eventually they were just told to let every single mail-in ballot through."

Facts First: The office of Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, a Republican elected in 2020, strongly denied this claim. "At no point during the 2020 election cycle did Maricopa County modify the rigorous signature verification requirements. Any suggestion to the contrary is categorically false," the recorder's office said on Twitter.
Logan was not clear on who supposedly reduced the comparison standard and how widespread the supposed change was. We can't, of course, definitively fact check what happened or didn't happen at each and every elections office in the county, especially without seeing the affidavit Logan referred to.

She attends Zoom and in-person preparation meetings and has displayed an impressive level of commitment, knowledge and a ‘ferocious’ work ethic.”

Sharpiegate Redux.

Trump falsely claimed in a July 16 statement that the Arizona Senate hearing “showed 168,000 fraudulent ballots printed on illegal paper (unofficial ballots).” It showed nothing of the sort.

Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan didn’t say that in the hearing. Instead, he claimed he needed to conduct “additional analysis” to determine whether there were issues with ink bleeding through to the other side of ballots and “when or if this did impact votes.” He claimed there could be a problem and said he would “expect that with Sharpies the bleed-through would be greater.”

Maricopa County disputes this speculation that bleed-throughs could have caused a problem. “Ballots are designed so bleed-through does not impact vote. Accuracy is verified through post-election tests,” the county tweeted, adding that “#SharpieGate was thoroughly debunked.”

The county further said: “If bleed through happens, it does not cause an over-vote. Elex officials program certified tabulation equipment & design ballots w/ offset columns to ensure these ballots are counted accurately.”

“This accuracy is verified through logic and accuracy tests, hand counts performed by the political parties, and post-election audits performed by EAC [Election Assistance Commission] certified voting testing laboratories,” the county tweeted on July 15.

Logan’s claims about bleed-through issues, particularly with Sharpies, are similar to false claims spread through social media the day after the election that votes for Trump in Arizona weren’t counted because Sharpie pens were used on ballots. The claim appeared to originate with a viral video taken outside of a Maricopa County polling place on Election Day.

I see the liberals are completely unhinged by the audit.

The issue with sharpies as I understand it is that the sharpies were not supposed to be used, were explicitly said not to be used on the voting instructions and then were handed out by poll workers.

These bled and caused ballots to be unreadable or subsequent ballots (multiple votes etc) and needing manual adjudication.

When you do this it is supposed to be done with proper oversight and the adjudicated ballot must be assigned the same bar code as the original ballot. Apparently these ballots failed to be properly handled and now there exists a stack of damaged ballots and ballots that have been adjudicated that cannot be matched to the original or even point to any original. Not sure what the explanation for this will be.

We shall see when the official audit results come out.

We are getting close

You can tell by the Democrat attempts to interfere with the results beforehand including over a hundred lawyers and the lawsuits they attempted

They lost.

Now we await the truth

This is not 1977 and Joe Biden is not Jimmy Carter.

The Republicans have become The White Supremacist Party of the 21st century.

In theory, then, working-class Black and Latino Americans, particularly more conservative-leaning men, could prove today’s crime-backlash voters. But the GOP seems ill-equipped to seize that opportunity. The party’s open embrace of white nationalism will likely place a ceiling on that support, and its association with the January 6 insurgency makes it a poor, or at least compromised, messenger; Democrats could easily paint Republicans as the true purveyors of violence in American society.

In fact, polling shows that voters are split about evenly on which party they believe is best equipped to address the issue of crime—hardly the same clear advantage that Republicans enjoyed 50 years ago. Whereas it was easy and intuitive in the 1970s to blame Democratic mayors and governors—to say nothing of Lyndon Johnson—for the nation’s unraveling, it’s not at all clear that today’s voters will punish Democrats for a rise in violent crime. People may also decide that the spike in crime was an unfortunate aftershock of the pandemic, especially if the rate subsides over the coming months. The anti vaccine movement is killing Republicans.

The 2022 election cycle is still in the distant future, and in politics, things change quickly. Judging by history and by polling, however, crime may not provide the winning message that the GOP is looking for. Yesterday’s swing voters are not today’s swing voters, and in 2021, “law and order” doesn’t mean the same thing it did in 1979.

They came to see me. They said, “Sir, would you like him to run for the Senate?” I said, “He’s not getting my endorsement. I can tell you.” The Mitch McConnell, there’s another beauty. The Mitch McConnell Republican. The Mitch McConnell. The old Crow. He was losing his election in the… I’ll tell you, Kentucky is a great place. I love Kentucky. They love me and I love them and I was way up and he was losing by two points. And he said, “Sir, I’d like to see you.” He comes over. “Would you give me a big endorsement? And could you do a television commercial?” And I didn’t love the idea because I’m not too high on him, but it was between him or a woman named Amy McGrath, a Democrat. She had 93 million sitting in the bank and he was two down and he was going to get blown away and I endorsed him and he went up 20 points, 20. She didn’t even spend her money. She had no chance because of my endorsement he went up 20 points and then he got up and said the nastiest things about me. That’s the way politics is, I guess. Sonny, it’s not that way in Arizona is it? Oh yeah.

Donald Trump: (14:38)
I think it is, Kelly. I think it is. No, it’s not as bad. That was amazing. You endorse somebody, you help somebody. I don’t want any praise. I don’t want anything, but I don’t want to have that kind of a thing happen. So it’s one of those things. But what you’re doing here is incredible as everyone here fully understands. The 2020 election was a total disgrace. It was the most corrupt.

Donald Trump: (15:23)
And I tell this to people. I tell it to Republicans and a lot of them are very good people and they say, “Well, sir, we have to get onto the future.” Let me tell you, you’re not going to have a future. First of all, our nation is being destroyed, but you’re not going to have a future in ’22 or ’24 if you don’t find out how they cheated with hundreds of thousands and even millions of votes, because you won’t win anything. You won’t win anything. And I tell Republicans, I say, “You don’t realize,” because some of them they’re good meaning, really a lot of them, most of them. We have certain people that are not good. They don’t have the Mitt Romney’s the little Ben Sasse’s of the world. They don’t have… I could name a few of them.

Donald Trump: (16:11)
Little Ben Sasse. “Could I have your endorsement?” Yes. The day after he won, he goes and starts going after Trump. But you know what? That’s the way it is. But you know, I tell people, this is the biggest issue there is. This is bigger than the border. This is bigger than anything. This is the biggest issue. And I see it just here and I’d say I’d make a speech.

CNN is providing a possible explanation, not an explanation. They are also providing the explanation from the people who are being audited.

But once again, the people being audited are demanding that the people doing the auditing are not "looking at the right places for the data" - but doesn't that beg the question why the "right data" wasn't provided.

That is sort of how Audits work. An auditor finds what they believe is a discrepancy and it is up to the people being audited to provide the documentation to show that there is no discrepancy or otherwise explain that discrepancy. I work with people being audited every day. It's not the auditor's responsibility to account for discrepancies. It's the people being audited.

This is classic. Auditors find a discrepancy. Instead of the election officials providing them with the "proper" documentation that would explain or clarify the discrepancy (surely the proper documentation that does not show this difference exists) - they just "tell the media" that the auditors don't know what they are looking at and that there really is no such discrepancy.

Love to see a company do that during a tax or financials audit.

They would end up in jail.

But election officials? Apparently we can trust them even as they appear to be hiding information from the auditors and/or blatantly refusing to cooperate. Which helps who exactly?

A look at his remarks in Phoenix:

TRUMP:
“Unbelievably, the auditors have testified that the master database for the election management system, I’m sorry to tell you, has been deleted.... Meaning the main database for all of the election-related data in Maricopa for 2020 has been illegally erased. It’s been erased.”

THE FACTS:
Wholly false. The database was never deleted.

At first, auditors hired by Republican state senators sympathetic to Trump reported that a database directory was deleted from an election management server. The official Twitter account tied to the audit said the deletion amounted to “spoliation of evidence.”

The Republican-dominated Maricopa County Board of Supervisors responded by calling the auditors incompetent and threatening to file a defamation lawsuit. Board Chairman Jack Sellers said the auditors “can’t find the files because they don’t know what they’re doing.” Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, a Republican who took over the elections office after defeating a Democrat, called the allegation “unhinged."

The next day, Ben Cotton, founder of a digital forensics firm working on the audit, confirmed he had recovered all of the files. “I have the information I need,” he acknowledged, and the auditors deleted their tweet.
___

TRUMP: “There were 18,000 people who voted in Arizona in 2020 who were then purged from the rolls immediately after the election.”

THE FACTS: This didn't happen. His insinuation that people were stricken from the rolls because they voted for him is baseless.

Actually, 13,320 voters were removed from the rolls in the two months after the election, not 18,000 right away, and there were routine reasons why.

Voting rolls are updated constantly as people move, die, get convicted of felonies or have their voting rights revoked because of incapacitation. Trump was repeating a claim made by Doug Logan, CEO of Cyber Ninjas, the inexperienced firm leading the state Senate Republicans’ audit of the 2020 election.

Maricopa County officials said their analysis of the data shows 7,916 voters were removed from the rolls because they moved out of the county or died between Nov. 3, which was Election Day, and Jan. 2. An additional 5,404 people were removed for other reasons, including felony convictions, incapacitation or the voters' own request to cancel their registration.

The county has about 2.6 million registered voters.

Overall, Biden won Arizona by 10,457 votes out of 3.4 million cast. That's vastly more than the number of votes where fraud is truly suspected.

County election officials only identified 182 cases where voting problems were clear enough that they referred them to investigators for further review, according to an Associated Press investigation. So far, only four cases have led to charges. No one has been convicted. No person’s vote was found to have been counted twice.

The problem for Democrats and their "big lie" lie is that it hasn't convinced anyone who wasn't otherwise convinced. The idea that there was no "cheating" has been rejected by a wide majority of the country and somewhere between 33-40 percent believe that Biden won only because of that cheating.

Furthermore, the majority of Americans are in favor of these audits and see no harm in them. This while people like James and Roger and Denny jump up and down like crazy people demanding that all audits stop because they are somehow "dangerous".

Nobody but the truly crazy believe that audits are dangerous. They mainly are afraid that what the audit finds will continue to fuel the underlying belief that 2020 involved a whole bunch of cheating.

Politico reports the President is going crazy

“I predict when the votes come in … I think they’re going to be so horrible. They will be, in my opinion, the results will be so outrageous,” he said, promising to continue the fight in further politically driven audits across the country.

“This is only the beginning of the irregularities,” he insisted, reeling off a litany of polling grievances, none of which his team of lawyers was able to substantiate in court after the election. “We’re not talking about Arizona any more. We’re talking about the United States of America.”

The Republican-controlled Maricopa County government has strongly opposed the review conducted by a company called Cyber Ninjas, whose founder has backed Trump’s claims of a stolen election. You believe the big lie Scott

Trump repeatedly praised the efforts of the Arizona Senate’s audit, as he has done previously in a stream of press releases issued from his private post-presidency residence in Mar-a-Lago. “You’ve created a movement all over the country,” Trump said.

“I’m hearing Texas wants to do a forensic audit,” he said, bizarrely citing a state he won handily, alongside ongoing efforts to cast doubt on the the long-settled vote in Michigan, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Previous speakers including Arizona Reps. Andy Biggs, Debbie Lesko and Paul Gosar largely echoed Trump's remarks about election fraud.

He cast further doubt on the results of the 2022 midterms and 2024 presidential election, while touting his own popularity and prospects should he decide to run. At one point Trump falsely intimated he could return as president before the next presidential election.

In lengthy diatribes on his loss, he blamed Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, former Vice President Mike Pence and Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, while defending the actions of his former personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

“Like it or not we are becoming a Communist county,” he said, targeting the media over its coverage of Biden and his son, Hunter, during the election.

In a largely familiar speech, he hit Biden on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline that runs from Russia to Germany by way of Ukraine. He touted his administration’s actions on Covid, but did not advocate for vaccinations.

In particular, the former president's remarks on his former vice president garnered a loud chorus of boos from his supporters.

“I only wish that my friend Mike Pence had that additional courage to send the results back to the legislatures,” Trump said of Pence certifying his election loss.

The booing was perhaps only matched by that which followed Trump's hyping of the "woke" U.S. women's soccer team's recent loss in the Olympics to Sweden.

Donald Trump: (34:58)
All right. There were nearly 4,000 people who voted with a registration date after the cutoff on October 15th. So you have a cutoff, a legal cutoff, but thousands of people voted, and that’s illegal. Why did 4,000 people vote? Additionally, there were more than 11,000 individuals who were not on the voter rolls the day after the election. Think of that. They weren’t on the voter rolls the day after the election. ut who were on the list of voters that was published one month after the election. So they weren’t there for the election, but a month later they happened to find them, okay? This alone is more than the supposed margin that you needed. It’s 10,457 votes. We beat it in every category. There were 18,000 people who voted in Arizona in 2020, who were then purged from the rolls immediately after the election. Why didn’t they purge them before, Sonny? Could I ask you that question? Sonny said they cheated. They cheated. They cheated.

Donald Trump: (36:10)
We’re becoming like a third world nation, and it’s happening. Then 168,000 ballots were found to be printed on unofficial, very thin, flimsy paper. In other words, sounds to me like they were short of ballots, and they just made them up because you have what’s called quote “Voter secure paper.” It’s very heavy. It’s like the dollar bill. It’s very complex stuff. But they didn’t have that. So they had 168,000 votes and that’s required. It’s required. You have to have it. And they found it on paper. And the reason they noticed it, I guess, number one, it was very light, but they saw that when you hit it with a certain pen, it went right through the paper. They say, “What the kind of papers is this?” that’s 168,000 votes. And so that also would have been invalidated. They wouldn’t have allowed it to be on election day. They wouldn’t have allowed it. 168,000 votes. I wonder who they voted for. Tell me, I wonder who they voted for. Would you say it was a hundred percent for Biden or 97%?

Donald Trump: (37:19)
It was also revealed in a recent hearing that there are thousands and thousands of duplicated ballots that do not have a serial number, suggesting that votes may have been fraudulently duplicated and counted multiple times. Time after time after time. You saw it in Georgia, you saw those people go in. They said, “There’s a water main break. Everybody leave, everybody leave.” Everybody got the hell out. They don’t want to drown. They don’t want a water main break. And a short while later, a woman, a political operative, we all know her name. We all know her name, and it should have been taken care of, which should have been taken care of. But a woman comes in, but it is now it’s in court, and it’s a big deal. She came in with a group. She didn’t go back to her machine.

Donald Trump: (38:05)
They went for the table. They lifted up the skirt of the table, and lo and behold, it was loaded up with ballots, but they weren’t ballots that were in boxes that ballots come. They were in other, whether it was suitcases. It was totally different. They took those, and they started putting them in. Sometimes three times, sometimes five times. And they stood there. And I tell you what, when people looked at that they got sick. People threw up looking at it, and law enforcement did very little, but now what’s happening is I believe the courts are going to do a lot. It’s a big deal going on. That was total criminal behavior.

Arkansas' governor defends decision to approve a statewide ban on mask mandates
By Devan Cole, CNN
Updated Jul 25, 2021
Washington (CNN) - Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Sunday defended his decision to approve a statewide ban on face mask mandates earlier this year, citing a low coronavirus case rate at the time -- a rate that is now rapidly rising.
"Well, that was the will of the General Assembly. I signed it. At that point we had very low case rates in Arkansas and people knew exactly what to do. They were capable of making their decisions," Hutchinson, a Republican, told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union" when asked about his decision to approve the ban in April.
The governor added that when he approved the law, which is set to go into effect this week, the state "shifted to the emphasis on vaccination" and that its guidelines "continue to say if you're not vaccinated, you should wear a mask."
"That is the guideline that we have in place but we don't have a mandate because that was held back from the legislature," Hutchinson said.
The ban, SB 590, was first introduced in late March and eventually passed both chambers of Arkansas' GOP-led General Assembly in April. It prohibits state and local officials and entities from ordering a face mask mandate, but makes an exception for private businesses, health care facilities, correctional facilities and facilities operated by the Department of Human Services' Division of Youth Services.
The ban allows state and local officials and entities to recommend using a face mask but requires them to "provide notice that the recommendation is not mandatory."
As Arkansas moves closer to when the ban takes effect, the state is grappling with a rising coronavirus positivity rate, with the state reporting 11,748 new cases and 56 new deaths this past week -- a positivity rate of 19.32%, according to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center.
At least 36% of the state's residents are vaccinated, according to the center, something Hutchinson said is holding Arkansas back in their fight against the virus.
Hutchinson told Tapper that he wouldn't consider a vaccine mandate "because that would even cause a greater reaction of negativity toward the government, and then imposition on freedom."
But, the governor said, the ban on mask mandates is something that could change between now and when school starts in the state depending on its vaccination rate and whether lawmakers convene a session to consider changing the law.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives is not in charge of security for the Capitol building.

But that doesn't matter to the craziest Jim Banks

Flame-thrower Republican Jim Banks made plain why he has absolutely no business serving on the January 6th committee during an interview on Fox News Sunday, and why Pelosi was right to give him the boot. Banks accused Pelosi of only wanting people to serve who are "interested in a narrative," or in other words, actually putting the blame for the MAGA insurrection squarely where it belongs, which is on Trump, the other Republicans who participated in the rally and helped to incite the violence, on the members of Congress who took these seditionists on tours of the capitol prior to the invasion, and on every member of his party and right wing media for pushing the Big Lie that the election was supposedly "stolen" from Trump that had these idiots worked into a frenzy in the first place.

Banks is still pushing the narrative we've heard from other Republicans, and on Fox since they began trying to defend the indefensible, which is that Nancy Pelosi is somehow solely responsible for the breakdown of security at the capitol, ignoring the fact that if you're going to blame Pelosi, then you'd better also blame Mitch McConnell, Trump, the Capitol Police and the House and Senate Sergeant-at-Arms.

WASHINGTON — In May, Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., was stripped of her role as the third-ranking Republican in the House by fellow party members who said they had tired of her frequent and vocal opposition to former President Donald Trump’s false claims of massive election fraud, as well as her vote to impeach him for inciting the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Just two months later, Cheney’s stature is rising again, this time as the lone Republican on the House select committee charged with investigating that Jan. 6 attack. While her participation has triggered more attacks from Trump and others within her own party, she’s drawing strong reviews from Democrats who praise her work ethic and contributions to the committee thus far.

After Cheney was appointed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the committee, her role was always meant to send a message of bipartisanship. But when House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., pulled his own Republican appointees this week, Cheney’s role as the sole GOP member has only grown, Democratic aides and lawmakers told NBC News.

She may not be alone for long — Pelosi said Sunday she will try to add another Trump critic, Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., to the panel in an effort to bulk up Republican participation — but her role will still be distinct.

“She will definitely have an elevated role and an amplified voice,” Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., a member of the select committee, said in an interview.

He said Cheney speaks for millions of Americans, including Republicans, who are looking for answers to many lingering questions about Jan. 6. “She comes in with a lot of credibility and legitimacy,” he said.

Rep. Cheney is 'absolutely confident' Jan. 6 select committee can have nonpartisan investigation

Cheney remains a steadfast opponent of House Democrats on most fronts as well as a vocal and frequent critic of President Joe Biden’s policy agenda, including major issues of taxes, immigration, abortion, national security and government spending.

But she has joined the Democrats on the Jan. 6 committee seamlessly, those members say, gaining trust that is rarely found across the political aisle, especially after the attack on the Capitol. She attends Zoom and in-person preparation meetings and has displayed an impressive level of commitment, knowledge and a “ferocious” work ethic.

“If you close your eyes, in our meetings, our Zooms, you wouldn't be able to distinguish which voice she was,” committee member Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-Calif., said. “That's the truth. We're all talking about next steps and process and what we want to get out of this, and she's been a committed partner in that.”

The members have also been in regular contact through a group text established by the panel’s chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss. One Democratic member called her “brilliant.”

“In the meetings that we've had thus far, she is very determined to get to the truth, and operates in a very no-nonsense fashion,” Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., said of Cheney.

She has joined the group for two meetings in Pelosi’s office and spoken with her on the phone at least once, when Pelosi offered her a position on the committee. Cheney accepted the position but told Pelosi she couldn’t go to the news conference announcing the picks because she had to take her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, to the doctor, a source familiar with the conversation said.

Before Jan. 6, it would have been unimaginable to think that the most powerful Democrat in Congress, known for her political prowess and progressive résumé, would tap a deeply conservative, politically astute and Teflon-tough Republican politician who also happens to be the daughter of a vice president that Democrats bitterly battled for decades.

Former President Donald Trump, speaking with Newsmax's Benny Johnson before his keynote speech at the day-long "Rally to Save Our Elections" event in Phoenix on Saturday, railed against the ongoing situation at the U.S.-Mexico border and insisted immigrants will "destroy our country" because of a "rigged election" that put President Joe Biden in the White House.

"I call it the crime of the century," he told Newsmax. "Just look at all the death on the border, look what's coming in, look at all the kids that are dying, the people that are dying on the border. It's gross incompetence."

Trump insisted that other countries are "emptying their jails with some of the toughest, meanest criminals in the world" as a result of Biden being in office.

"They're emptying their jails into our country," said Trump. "We can't have this. They will destroy our country all because of a rigged election."

White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci on Sunday warned that the U.S. is “going in the wrong direction” with the highly contagious Delta variant spread prompting a surge in COVID-19 cases, especially amongst people who are unvaccinated.

During an interview on CNN, Fauci was asked about the possibility of the country reaching 4,000 deaths a day if the vaccination rate does not improve. Currently, only 49 percent of the U.S. is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

“Well, when they do modeling, they generally give you the worst-case scenario and the best-case scenario,” Fauci said. “But somewhere in the middle, if you look historically at the modeling that has been done over the last 18 months, for the most part, it’s been pretty accurate. So, I’m not so sure it would be the worst-case scenario, but it’s not going to be good.”

Fauci added that the country is “going in the wrong direction,” pointing to the inflection of the curve of new cases among the unvaccinated.

“And since we have 50 percent of the country is not fully vaccinated, that’s a problem, particularly when you have a variant like Delta, which has this extraordinary characteristic of being able to spread very efficiently and very easily from person to person,” Fauci said.

Fauci stressed that COVID-19 cases will continue to rise if more people aren’t vaccinated before being asked whether fatalities will strictly be among the unvaccinated.

“Well, yes. That’s the issue. And that’s the thing that sometimes gets confusing to people,” Fauci said. “If you were vaccinated, the vaccine is highly protective against the Delta variant, particularly against severe disease leading to hospitalization, and sometimes ultimately to death.”

Fauci echoed a sentiment shared by CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, who said “it is really a pandemic among the unvaccinated.”

“So, this is an issue predominantly among the unvaccinated, which is the reason why we’re out there practically pleading with the unvaccinated people to go out there and get vaccinated,” Fauci said.

The CDC reported that 30 states have yet to fully vaccinate at least half of their residents. According to Johns Hopkins University, every state in the country reported an uptick in COVID-19 cases in the week ending Friday compared to the week prior.

Right-wingers who have been espousing vaccination skepticism for months have notably changed their tune recently by advocating the public to get vaccinated as hospitalizations and deaths from COVID-19 continue to rise. Recent polling has shown that Republicans, stupid especially men like kputz are significantly more resistant to getting vaccinated against the infectious disease that has killed more than 600,000 Americans thus far.
