A doctor in rural Oklahoma says hospitals are backed up with patients who have overdosed on veterinary ivermectin, an anti-parasite medication. Mississippi’s health department said that 70 percent of recent calls to the state poison control center in August came from people who ingested ivermectin from livestock supply stores.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that a person had an “altered mental status” after apparently taking five pills of ivermectin — that he had purchased on the internet — daily for five days. Another person drank an ivermectin formula intended for cattle and was hospitalized for nine days with tremors and hallucinations.
Three inmates in a jail in northwest Arkansas told The Associated Press that they were unknowingly given ivermectin among their Covid medications. The C.D.C. reported almost 90,000 prescriptions per week in mid-August, up from a prepandemic average of 3,600 per week. Veterinary supply store shelves have been emptied of ivermectin.
Public health warnings against using the drug as a treatment for Covid-19, especially not in the large doses crafted for livestock, appear to have made little dent in its surging popularity in the United States — or in the minds of its defenders in the conservative and fringe right-wing media sphere.
The podcasting giant Joe Rogan listed ivermectin this week among the treatments he was given after contracting the virus. It might be one thing if you suggested perhaps that that poll should be taken with a grain of salt or perhaps there might be reason to believe that things will change... or any number of things could be suggested in a reasonable manner.
But to suggest that citing this particular poll at all is akin to have "Rocks in someone's head" is sort of a little bit silly. The poll is real. It's not a right wing pollster. Emerson has actually been probably closer than most (was closer than many in 2020). Their polling suggests that if the election was being held right how that Trump would beat Biden. I see absolutely zero reason right now to suggest otherwise.
After all, Biden can no longer campaign on promises of foolproof plans or be buoyed by media claims of how stable things will be under his leadership. We now know and understand a little about the Joe Biden Presidency... and we now know he has no foolproof plans and he is not a stable leader who brings about calm. He has no idea what he is doing and the country and world is up in flames.

Florida’s supply of a horse and cow deworming drug is sold out, thanks to a disturbing rise in people using it as an alternative treatment for COVID-19, according to Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried.
Ivermectin, an antiparasitic treatment for livestock, has not been approved for human use in most cases. Its manufacturer, Merck, says there is “no meaningful evidence for clinical activity or efficacy in patients with COVID-19.”
But despite warnings from the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that taking the drug to combat the virus can hurt humans, many Floridians have instead turned to dubious expertise on social media to inform their medical decisions.
The result: There has been about one case a day this month of ivermectin-related poisoning, and patients the drug is intended for, animals, can’t get it.
“Our feedstocks are out,” Fried told reporters Monday. “This is a product that is supposed to be used for animals, and so, of course, when the feedstock is out — whether it’s for cows or for horses — and our industry can’t get them, that’s a problem.”
While largely meant for use in large farm animals, ivermectin has been approved for human consumption as an anti-parasitic in rare cases and at specific, doctor-set doses. Clinical trials of the drug “yielded insufficient evidence” so far that it is effective as a COVID-19 remedy.
But many still wary of getting FDA-approved vaccine shots continue to seek out alternate therapies. Ivermectin has gained traction online recently in part because of findings in an Antiviral Research prepublication paper noting the “FDA-approved drug … inhibits the replication of (COVID-19)” in a test tube. Prepublication research papers have usually not been reviewed by peers of the authors.
U.S. prescriptions for ivermectin have soared to more than 88,000 per week — a 24-fold increase from pre-pandemic numbers, the CDC said Aug. 26. And when people can’t get it through their physician, they go to animal feed stores and get highly concentrated formulations meant for 1,000-pound animals.
Last week, 57-year-old police officer Joe Manning of Wayne County, Georgia, died after publicly flouting vaccine treatments and encouraging people to stock up on ivermectin.
The Texas Poison Center Network reported a more than 150% uptick this month in the number of calls received about ivermectin exposures compared to the month before.
Still, some officials argue it’s too early to jump to conclusions. U.S. Sen. Dr. Rand Paul of Kentucky — one of the most prominent and persistent proponents of the theory COVID-19 was human-made in a Wuhan, China, laboratory — argued residual disdain for President Joe Biden’s predecessor had tainted people’s openness to ivermectin’s potential as another tool to help end the pandemic.

Such cells could persist for a lifetime, churning out antibodies all the while.
The findings, published May 24 in the journal Nature, suggest that mild cases of COVID-19 leave those infected with lasting antibody protection and that repeated bouts of illness are likely to be uncommon.
“Last fall, there were reports that antibodies wane quickly after infection with the virus that causes COVID-19, and mainstream media interpreted that to mean that immunity was not long-lived,” said senior author Ali Ellebedy, PhD, an associate professor of pathology & immunology, of medicine and of molecular microbiology. “But that’s a misinterpretation of the data. It’s normal for antibody levels to go down after acute infection, but they don’t go down to zero; they plateau. Here, we found antibody-producing cells in people 11 months after first symptoms. The CDC rightfully wants everyone to get vaccinated whether they have or don't have the antibodies. There is no reason to believe that getting the vaccine will harm someone who also has the natural antibodies. It can only help from a pure standpoint of immunity.
Yes, the CDC is making a point. But when they ignore long standing international studies and rathe point to incomplete studies that "are starting to show" then I discount that. At the end of the day the CDC is undermining any and all information that might suggest anything negative about getting the vaccine.
A little white lie, perhaps? Like when Fauci told everyone that masks would not work (and we even had warning labels that stated they didn't work against Covid) simply because he was worried that we would end up with a mask shortage?

A doctor in rural Oklahoma says hospitals are backed up with patients who have overdosed on veterinary ivermectin, an anti-parasite medication. Mississippi’s health department said that 70 percent of recent calls to the state poison control center in August came from people who ingested ivermectin from livestock supply stores.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that a person had an “altered mental status” after apparently taking five pills of ivermectin — that he had purchased on the internet — daily for five days. Another person drank an ivermectin formula intended for cattle and was hospitalized for nine days with tremors and hallucinations.
Three inmates in a jail in northwest Arkansas told The Associated Press that they were unknowingly given ivermectin among their Covid medications. The C.D.C. reported almost 90,000 prescriptions per week in mid-August, up from a prepandemic average of 3,600 per week. Veterinary supply store shelves have been emptied of ivermectin.
Public health warnings against using the drug as a treatment for Covid-19, especially not in the large doses crafted for livestock, appear to have made little dent in its surging popularity in the United States — or in the minds of its defenders in the conservative and fringe right-wing media sphere.
The podcasting giant Joe Rogan listed ivermectin this week among the treatments he was given after contracting the virus. The conspiracy-monger Alex Jones, who has been banned from Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, took out a box of ivermectin pills during one of his trademark rants and popped two tablets live on the show he still manages to stream.
Front Line Covid-19 Critical Care Alliance, a nonprofit group of doctors, promotes ivermectin as a “a core medication in the prevention and treatment” of Covid-19.

Two scientists shared a Nobel Prize in 2015 for their work in developing the drug. But in the United States, it has limited human applications, like treating lice and rosacea, and has been primarily used to deworm horses, cows and pets — until now.
On Twitter last month, the Food and Drug Administration warned that the drug was not approved for use against Covid and that taking large doses could cause serious harm. “You are not a horse,” its tweet read. “You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.”
In a statement on Wednesday, alarmed health experts from the American Medical Association, the American Pharmacists Association and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists called for “an immediate end to the prescribing, dispensing and use of ivermectin for the prevention and treatment of Covid-19 outside of a clinical trial.”
Though it has not been shown to be effective in treating Covid-19, people are still clamoring to get the drug, trading tips in Facebook groups and on Reddit. Some physicians have compared the phenomenon with last year’s surge of interest in hydroxychloroquine, though ivermectin has undergone more clinical trials, which have so far repeatedly shown that it failed to help Covid patients.

It certainly appears the articles about Oklahoma hospitals being overwhelmed with ivermectin patients isn't accurate.
The doctor quoted in the piece hasn't worked for those hospitals in months and they're denying they're swamped with ODs.

Because when you go to 538 or another election projection cite and look at their predictions, they never actually look at the polling regarding who people want to vote for, huh? They (instead) concentrate on those favorability polls for there predictions, huh?
It might be one thing if you suggested perhaps that that poll should be taken with a grain of salt or perhaps there might be reason to believe that things will change... or any number of things could be suggested in a reasonable manner.
But to suggest that citing this particular poll at all is akin to have "Rocks in someone's head" is sort of a little bit silly. The poll is real. It's not a right wing pollster. Emerson has actually been probably closer than most (was closer than many in 2020). Their polling suggests that if the election was being held right how that Trump would beat Biden. I see absolutely zero reason right now to suggest otherwise.
After all, Biden can no longer campaign on promises of foolproof plans or be buoyed by media claims of how stable things will be under his leadership. We now know and understand a little about the Joe Biden Presidency... and we now know he has no foolproof plans and he is not a stable leader who brings about calm. He has no idea what he is doing and the country and world is up in flames.
In fact, the only thing that surprises me is that Trump only leads by one.
The poll represents that Biden would receive about 8 million less votes than he did. Given the amount of new laws that will prevent fraud along with Governors not being allowed to overrule and overwrite election laws - I think it would be worse for Biden than that.
Moreover, the longer Trump is out of office and the longer Biden is in office, the better things will be for Trump. After all, traditionally an ex-President's approval goes up in time, whereas Biden will likely continue to sink (as I really don't believe he has any foolproof plans to fix much of anything).

Florida’s supply of a horse and cow deworming drug is sold out, thanks to a disturbing rise in people using it as an alternative treatment for COVID-19, according to Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried.
Ivermectin, an antiparasitic treatment for livestock, has not been approved for human use in most cases. Its manufacturer, Merck, says there is “no meaningful evidence for clinical activity or efficacy in patients with COVID-19.”
But despite warnings from the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that taking the drug to combat the virus can hurt humans, many Floridians have instead turned to dubious expertise on social media to inform their medical decisions.
The result: There has been about one case a day this month of ivermectin-related poisoning, and patients the drug is intended for, animals, can’t get it.
“Our feedstocks are out,” Fried told reporters Monday. “This is a product that is supposed to be used for animals, and so, of course, when the feedstock is out — whether it’s for cows or for horses — and our industry can’t get them, that’s a problem.”
While largely meant for use in large farm animals, ivermectin has been approved for human consumption as an anti-parasitic in rare cases and at specific, doctor-set doses. Clinical trials of the drug “yielded insufficient evidence” so far that it is effective as a COVID-19 remedy.
But many still wary of getting FDA-approved vaccine shots continue to seek out alternate therapies. Ivermectin has gained traction online recently in part because of findings in an Antiviral Research prepublication paper noting the “FDA-approved drug … inhibits the replication of (COVID-19)” in a test tube. Prepublication research papers have usually not been reviewed by peers of the authors.
U.S. prescriptions for ivermectin have soared to more than 88,000 per week — a 24-fold increase from pre-pandemic numbers, the CDC said Aug. 26. And when people can’t get it through their physician, they go to animal feed stores and get highly concentrated formulations meant for 1,000-pound animals.
Last week, 57-year-old police officer Joe Manning of Wayne County, Georgia, died after publicly flouting vaccine treatments and encouraging people to stock up on ivermectin.
The Texas Poison Center Network reported a more than 150% uptick this month in the number of calls received about ivermectin exposures compared to the month before.
Still, some officials argue it’s too early to jump to conclusions. U.S. Sen. Dr. Rand Paul of Kentucky — one of the most prominent and persistent proponents of the theory COVID-19 was human-made in a Wuhan, China, laboratory — argued residual disdain for President Joe Biden’s predecessor had tainted people’s openness to ivermectin’s potential as another tool to help end the pandemic.

“Last fall, there were reports that antibodies wane quickly after infection with the virus that causes COVID-19, and mainstream media interpreted that to mean that immunity was not long-lived,” said senior author Ali Ellebedy, PhD, an associate professor of pathology & immunology, of medicine and of molecular microbiology. “But that’s a misinterpretation of the data. It’s normal for antibody levels to go down after acute infection, but they don’t go down to zero; they plateau. Here, we found antibody-producing cells in people 11 months after first symptoms. These cells will live and produce antibodies for the rest of people’s lives. That’s strong evidence for long-lasting immunity.”

The CDC rightfully wants everyone to get vaccinated whether they have or don't have the antibodies. There is no reason to believe that getting the vaccine will harm someone who also has the natural antibodies. It can only help from a pure standpoint of immunity.
Yes, the CDC is making a point. But when they ignore long standing international studies and rathe point to incomplete studies that "are starting to show" then I discount that. At the end of the day the CDC is undermining any and all information that might suggest anything negative about getting the vaccine.
A little white lie, perhaps? Like when Fauci told everyone that masks would not work (and we even had warning labels that stated they didn't work against Covid) simply because he was worried that we would end up with a mask shortage?
