Russia claims to capture city of Kherson, but Ukraine denies
Russia on Wednesday is claiming to have captured the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson, which has around 250,000 residents, according to Reuters. But an advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told the news agency that "the city has not fallen, our side continues to defend" and that street fighting is ongoing there. Overnight, the regional governor of the area reportedly said Kherson was surrounded and under fire while Russian forces were looting businesses.
The interesting thing about this situation is that Twitter had all sorts of pictures and such yesterday showing Russian soldiers, Russian tanks, and Russian vehicles basically having control of Kherson. According to people able to take these pictures, Kherson had fallen sometime yesterday or maybe even the night before, although that is always a murky ongoing process.
While I have no doubt that there is pockets of Ukrainian resistance and probably still control in portions, the question of whether or not Russia had taken the city is not whether or not every Ukrainian with a gun is dead or left, but who actually is the side controlling the majority of the streets, businesses, etc. Based on what we can see from social media and people on the ground, at least a large portion of Kherson was controlled by Russian military.
But in spite of photos and reports from Twitter (and I assume other social media sites) the U.S. media had not even really brought it up till today. Even then, they seem to be more inclined to report the takeover as possibly just a rumor rather than any sort of reality. Obviously in any war you have propaganda coming from both sides. I expect it especially from Putin and gang. But we still need to have honest reporting from both sides here.

In his last paragraph, Ch in effect admits that our side is being cautious in reporting, and then complains that both sides are not reporting honestly.
DUH?
