Irony - Left wing media reports were biased regarding study about media bias?

Brian Stelter Invites Guest to Trash Fox News, Gets Shocked When He Turns the Tables Against CNN
“Basically, you’re proving what we’ve sensed for a while,” Stelter told Kalla. “Which is, Fox viewers are in the dark about bad news for the GOP.”
“That’s right,” Kalla said, concurring. “Fox and CNN cover different issues, and Fox News predominantly covers issues that make the GOP look good, and make Democrats look bad.”
To that point, it was the type of commentary which could be heard on Reliable Sources just about each and every week. But then, Kalla went off book.
“On the flip side, CNN engages in this partisan coverage filtering as well,” the Yale researcher said.
Kalla cited the network’s coverage — or lack thereof — on the Abraham Accords, the peace agreements between the Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
“Fox News covered this really major accomplishment about 15 times more than CNN did,” Kalla said. “We saw how much both networks are encouraging in this partisan coverage filtering. It’s not about one side, it’s about the media writ large.”

This is not rocket science boys and girls, this is common sense. FOX news covers certain stories that CNN does not cover and CNN covers certain stories that FOX news does not. Neither side is getting the full picture and if either viewer switches channels for a while they will learn things that the previously had not known.

All that being said, there was not all that much change according to the study when it came right down to it.  About 85-90 percent of the FOX news viewers held the same positions they held prior to watching CNN, meaning a small percentage of them actually found the new information compelling enough to change their minds about issues and those were really around the edges. There was no evidence that anyone was switching Parties.

I would guess that a similar sliver of CNN viewers switching to FOX news for a week or so would change their minds about news and politics.

What I find funny in this situation was Stelter deciding that Yale researcher was engaging in "both-sidesism" which somehow people on the left have determined is actually a bad thing. This is about fairness to some degree and Stelter makes it obvious that what is good for the gander is not good for the goose. Apparently we should only listen to who "points something out" even if that same behavior is done by them.

Ahem...

Are you suggesting that this "Yale researcher" did not undercut Stelter on CNN because Redstate actually reported about it?

Is that seriously your ridiculous argument?

Watching Fox News can be like entering an alternative universe. It’s a world where Vladimir Putin isn’t actually that bad, but vaccines may be, and where some unhinged rightwing figures are celebrated as heroes, but Anthony Fauci, America’s top public health official, is an unrivaled villain.

Given the steady stream of misinformation an avid Fox News consumer is subjected to, the viewers – predominantly elderly, white and Donald Trump-supporting – are sometimes written off as lost causes by Democrats and progressives, but according to a new study, there is still hope.

In an unusual, and labor intensive, project, two political scientists paid a group of regular Fox News viewers to instead watch CNN for a month. At the end of the period, the researchers found surprising results; some of the Fox News watchers had changed their minds on a range of key issues, including the US response to coronavirus and Democrats’ attitude to police.

The findings suggest that political perspectives can be changed – but also reveals the influence partisan media has on viewers’ ideology.

Polls have previously shown that viewers of Fox News, the most-watched cable news channel in the US, are far more likely to believe the false claim that the 2020 presidential election was stolen than the average American, and are more likely to believe falsehoods about Covid-19.

The extent of the network’s influence on American politics was highlighted this week, with a report that Joe Biden has privately referred to Rupert Murdoch, the owner of Fox News, as “the most dangerous man in the world” and “one of the most destructive forces in the United States”.

David Broockman and Joshua Kalla, political scientists at the University of California, Berkeley and Yale university, respectively, paid 304 regular Fox News viewers $15 an hour to instead watch up to seven hours of CNN a week during the month of September 2020. The switchers were given regular news quizzes to make sure they were indeed watching CNN, while a control group of Fox News viewers continued with their regular media diet.

Much of the news cycle in September 2020 focused on policing and protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, which began after Jacob Blake, a Black man, was shot and seriously injured by police in late August. During the protests Kyle Rittenhouse, a teenager from Illinois, shot and killed two men and wounded another. The events became a political tool for Republicans, including Donald Trump, who later announced he would send federal law enforcement agents to Kenosha.

By the end of September, the CNN watchers were less likely to agree that: “It is an overreaction to go out and protest in response to the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin” and less likely to believe that: “If Joe Biden is elected President, we’ll see many police get shot by Black Lives Matter activists”, when compared with their peers who continued watching Fox News.

The CNN switchers were also, as Bloomberg’s Matthew Yglesias reported, 10 points less likely to believe that Joe Biden supporters were happy when police officers get shot, and 11 points less likely to believe that it is “more important for the President to focus on violent protests than the coronavirus pandemic”.

In addition the CNN viewers were 13 points less likely than the Fox News viewers to agree that: “If Joe Biden is elected President, we’ll see many more police get shot by Black Lives Matter activists.”

In an email interview, Kalla said he and Broockman had not necessarily expected people’s opinions to change.

“I think the most surprising finding is that shifting people’s media diets from Fox News to CNN for a month had any effect,” Kalla said. “People who watch cable news tend to be very politically engaged and have strong opinions about politics, limiting the impact of the media. Similarly, they also tend to be strong partisans who might not trust any source not associated with their party.”

I don't think it is political it is definitely dangerous..

Fox News, and liberal networks, can influence their viewers through “agenda-setting” – covering a certain topic relentlessly – and “framing”, Kalla said – by emphasizing certain aspects of an issue.

Kalla and Broockman were particularly interested in a third method of influencing: “partisan coverage filtering” – which they defined in the study as the process where “partisan outlets selectively report information, leading viewers to learn a biased set of facts”.

They gave a hypothetical example of how news channels might cover a war. In the example, CNN might cover the cost of the war and the number of military personnel and civilians who died. Fox News, on the other hand, could focus on the severity of the threat that Trump’s military campaign had countered, and feature stories of liberated civilians welcoming American soldiers.

“This leaves viewers of each network with different factual understandings of the conflict, and subsequently different levels of support for the conflict and the president,” Broockman and Kalla wrote.

Most of the CNN switchers stuck to the length of the task, according to the study. But once it was over, and the $15 an hour was taken away, “viewers returned to watching Fox News”, Kalla said.

While the study proved that people are susceptible – at least under the right conditions – to different political opinions, in the longer-term the skewing of media has had a broader, and negative, impact on the way the US functions, Kalla said.

“When politicians do something bad, we hope that voters will punish them, irregardless of their party – otherwise, politicians won’t have to work hard to make our lives better in order to keep their jobs,” Kalla said.

“However, this type of behavior becomes less possible if the media engages in partisan coverage filtering. If CNN doesn’t cover bad things Democrats do or good things Republicans do, and if Fox News doesn’t cover bad things Republicans do or good things Democrats do, then voters become less likely to learn this information and less able to hold their elected officials accountable.

“This is troubling for the functioning of a healthy democracy.”

We all KNOW how the story is being told by the left wing media. You don't need to repeat it nor does repeating it actually prove anything...

other than you do not understand this post... not even a little.

All of these stories are based on the study from this very Yale researcher.

The researcher

do you know what that means, Roger?

The researcher?

The one who actually "researched this"?

THe "researcher" who "researched this" suggested to Steltzer that this was not a FOX News thing, but a "Media thing" and that while FOX news pushed good stories for the GOP and bad stories for the Democrats, that CNN did the exact opposite and pushed good stories for Democrats while burying stories that were not favorable to them.

So if you truly understood that the researcher (not the media) is the expert on what HE RESEARCHED - you would understand that he is saying something entirely different than what is being reported.

And when you "repeat" the media stories...

You look like a fool who has no capability of understanding the concept.

Estimates are that inflation rose at an annual rate of 8.4% last month, surpassing February’s 7.9% reading and the fastest pace since the early 1980s. The monthly rise is expected to be 1.2%. That would be a record for the recent era of low inflation.

Jan. 6 panel faces major choices about Trump as investigation enters final phase

Travis Gettys

April 11, 2022

The House select committee faces five crucial choices as their eight-month investigation of the Jan. 6 insurrection enters its final phase.

The nine-member panel has found strong evidence that Donald Trump broke the law in his effort to overturn his 2020 election loss, and now they must decide whether to ask the twice-impeached former president to testify -- which would no doubt set off a complicated legal and political fight, reported Politico.

"The committee is almost certain to seek testimony from Trump himself; it has long been seen as a fait accompli," the website reported. "While members of the panel have treaded cautiously around the question of whether to call the former president, it’s clear through court filings — and one landmark ruling by a federal judge — that their probe has revealed compelling evidence he broke the law in his efforts to prevent the peaceful transfer of power."

Investigators must also decide whether to ask former vice president Mike Pence to tell them about his final phone conversation with Trump, shortly before the rally at the Ellipse that preceded the attack, but they already have witness testimony from former national security aide Keith Kellogg about Trump's final effort to get him to stop the certification of Joe Biden's win.

"But there’s no public record of Pence’s side of the call, including how he responded to Trump’s last-ditch pressure," Politico reported. "[Former chief of staff Marc] Short said Pence had made clear for weeks he had no authority to reverse the election results, but the direct — and last — Jan. 6 exchange between Trump and Pence remains hazy."

The committee may seek testimony from Speaker Nancy Pelosi or Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell, who collectively oversaw Capitol security, in large part to preemptively push back on an investigation Republicans have promised to open if they retake the majority in November.

"House investigators’ decision on Pelosi is particularly consequential because she’s been the target of a months-long string of attacks by Republican lawmakers who have sought, without basis, to portray her as singularly responsible for the failures of Capitol security on Jan. 6," Politico reported. "Trump has amplified particularly brazen attacks on Pelosi, who herself was targeted by many of the rioters who breached the building."

The panel hasn't decided what to do with three Republican lawmakers -- House minority leader Kevin McCarthy and Reps. Scott Perry and Jim Jordan -- who have refused to voluntarily testify, although committee chairman Bennie Thompson said they would not likely face subpoenas.

Even as the probe draws closer to a conclusion, more evidence continues to pour in from the National Archives and court wins open up new avenues of investigation that could last for weeks or months -- even as public hearings are expected to begin next month.

The Hunter Biden hard drive story is dead too

C.H. Truth said...

Roger...

There is no crime called objection. Nor is there anything specific to "certification"

There is "obstruction" but once you suggest that any legal action being taken is "obstruction" then we are basically demanding that any court move can be considered "obstruction".

DeSantis signs a law that prevents K-3 from being taught about sex, sexual orientation, or anything sexual... and someone challenges it in court, well then would that be "obstruction" of a law? If those Parties who sue lose that challenge, can DeSantis send out the Florida State Police to go arrest them for "obstruction" of an official law?

Let's be clear, the actual counting of the electoral college votes that the Vice President oversees is largely a ceremonial act. Just like the confirmation vote on a USSC Justice. If you were to enter the Capital building and obstruct either event (as happened during the Kavanaugh certification) it might be trespassing and one could argue an attempt to "obstruct" the procedure. But it ultimately won't prevent the new President or new USSC Justice from being sworn in.

The President had been planning and was attempting to execute constitutional legal maneuvers to force a delay of the electoral counting so that they had more time for court cases to finish up. They believed that the Vice President had that power to simply not hold the vote or to put it off. The Vice President (and many other scholars disagreed).

But the fact that they did not win their court cases between election day and the certification and they did not succeed in delaying the certification... does not mean that they committed a crime.

Possibly ironically... they ended up winning court cases in Wisconsin, Georgia, and Michigan where courts suggested that executive actions and election official "guidances" were illegal... there were also audits that uncovered slews of illegally counted votes and illegally updated votes in multiple state... all of which came way too late to make a difference.

The problem Roger... is that Democrats and their minions want you to believe that waging any sort of court or legal challenge to the results of the election (prior to the electoral votes being counted) is actually fundamentally illegal.

But it is not. I mean seriously... none of the actual "facts" are in dispute. Trump admits that he believed Pence could have resisted counting the electoral college votes. He admits that he wanted more time to challenge state results here and there. He admitted that he went to various state officials and asked them to look into fraud. Others around him (Don Jr and his legal team) also admit that they too were trying to find a legal recourse to get disputed states to readdress things.

There are no disputes to the facts here.

Only a dispute as to the law.

There is no reason that charges of "obstruction" could not have been brought if the AG truly felt that attempts to challenge the results were illegal. Perhaps Garland has not brought charges (not because he is a yellow bellied coward) - but because he doesn't really feel that there is a crime or a case to make.

Every "really" consider that?

The alky is under the impression that the J6 kangaroo court has some sort of mystical law enforcement powers or jurisdiction.

These reports come out from these breathless outlets like Politico before any of the nitwits doing the reporting take the time to find out what's legit and what's pure bullshit.

Trump Family Just Scored Major Victory Over NYC, Judge Declares Case Lacks “Legal Foundation”

Trump Family Just Scored Major Victory Over NYC, Judge Declares Case Lacks “Legal Foundation”

The city of New York has Stage 5 TDS and they can’t stop targeting President Trump and his family.

Whether it’s the SDNY or City Hall, the entire city is obsessed with trying to bring down the Trump family.

But there’s just one problem… They can’t stop falling.

And this latest loss involves the Trumps and their Bronx golf course.

de Blasio and City Hall were doing everything they could to take the golf course away from the Trump Family.

Spoiler alert: it didn’t work.

Western Journal reported that the Trump Organization won a round in court Friday in its battle with New York City over operating a city-owned golf course in the Bronx.

In January 2021, the administration of former Mayor Bill de Blasio said it was ending the Trump Organization’s contract to operate the Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point Park course in the Bronx.

The city’s action had two parts. Legally, it claimed that the course could not attract the caliber of golfing event required by its contract because of the stain upon the organization from the Capitol incursion.

Then there was just plain ol’ Trump-bashing from City Hall.

“It was Donald Trump who interfered with basic democracy when he incited a deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol,” City Hall spokesperson Bill Neidhardt said in 2021, according to ABC. “You do that, and you lose the privilege of doing business with the City of New York. It’s as simple as that.”

On Friday, New York State Supreme Court Justice Debra James said that it was very simple — the city never had a legal leg to stand on, according to the New York Post.

Last fall, James had granted a temporary restraining order against the city giving the Trump Organization the heave-ho, which allowed it to keep running the course.

According to James’ decision, Ferry Point had no obligation to host any PGA-level tournaments and the city’s claim that it did “lacks any legal foundation,” Politico reported.

“The judge didn’t buy their nonsense, and this is a well-reasoned and appropriate decision, and we look forward to running the best golf course for years to come,” Eric Trump said, according to the Post.

“De Blasio did this for his own political theater,” Eric Trump said. “He wasted tremendous amounts of time and city resources on his own vendetta. He is a disgrace to New York, and everyone is glad he is gone.”

It’s as if the entire Democrat Party has made a career out of wasting taxpayers’ money and time to launch phony attacks against The Trumps.

The Collapse of Corporate Media & Citizen Free Press
How one man runs the 5th largest news service in the United States

One way that we can measure the collapse of the corporate media business in America is to compare their audience numbers to independent media outlets with tiny budgets and very few staff. In the case of Citizen Free Press, we’re talking about only one man typing headlines on a site with no ads and no budget — and it’s now the 5th largest news service (according to web traffic) in the US.

That sounds impossible of course — but it’s true.

That’s right: Citizen Free Press gets more traffic than the Wall Street Journal and Politico. That’s twice as much traffic as ABC News. That’s 50% more traffic than NBC News.

That’s not the only interesting piece of news about the corporate media’s collapse contained in this web traffic report. Did you know that Gateway Pundit gets more traffic than CBS News? Did you know that Breitbart gets more traffic than NBC News? Did you know that Zero Hedge gets more traffic than ABC News? The legacy broadcast networks are in deep trouble — particularly with the move in TV from cable to streaming service.

I talked with the man behind Citizen Free Press — who goes by the name of Kane — on several occasions recently. He was offered $40 million for his site just last year. What’s it worth this year? He told me “probably $100 million.”

How is it possible that he is competing, and beating, media outlets with thousands of employees? According to Kane, the corporate media outlets “are boring. They all do the same version of the same story in the same way.” He’s right of course.

BWAA!:

New York elected officials are scrambling to spin their disastrous population losses as something that can easily be reversed with just a few tweaks to the business environment, more federal aid and more spending from Albany and City Hall.

Sorry, the municipal-bond market appears to disagree. . . .

A little background on munis: They don’t often follow the same set of rules as other types of debt, which rise and fall based on broad economic trends and interest rates.

That’s because municipal bonds are a tax haven. Even when rates rise and other bonds fall, rich people in high-taxed places (i.e. New York) can often be counted on to keep buying city and state debt.

That appeal is now eroding, traders and investment bankers who specialize in New York State and City bonds tell me. The most logical explanation isn’t simply too much supply or higher interest rates. The appetite from millionaires should still be there: City and state taxes continue to hit the wealthy harder than ever.

Plus there’s no immediate worry of budget shortfalls and bond-rating downgrades that depress prices because both city and state coffers are flush with federal COVID-relief money.

The only explanation, market professionals tell me, is a growing number of rich people who no longer need to seek New York munis as a tax haven — because they now live in Florida.

The Bear Traps Report, a research platform, crunched some numbers for me and came up with the following: Yields on Florida munis have often been higher than those from New York because there was more demand for the Empire State debt and less demand for tax-free bonds in a low-tax state like Florida.

That began to shift over the years, but most significantly in early February of this year. Now New York bond yields are higher than Florida’s just as the Empire State’s rich-resident tax base has significantly thinned.

Biden to Name New Commander of Allied Forces in Europe

“A top American Army general in Europe is expected to be elevated to lead all U.S. and allied forces on the continent, U.S. officials said, marking the biggest change to NATO military leadership since Russia invaded Ukraine in February,”
the Wall Street Journal reports.

“The Pentagon is also set to name a new general to lead Special Operation forces, the officials said. Both would replace commanders who are expected to retire this year as part of a normal rotation of commanders.”

Bucha’s Month of Terror
The New York Times
has an extraordinary piece on the month of atrocities in Bucha, after reporters witnessed dozens of corpses and more than 100 body bags.

“The evidence suggests the Russians killed recklessly and sometimes sadistically, in part out of revenge.”

Sounds like Ch is arguing that if bank robbers do absolutely everything they can to rob a bank, including numerous illegal activities, but are not actually successful in getting the bank robbed, they have not committed a crime.

Sounds like the Reverend has trouble reading;

What I stated was that going to court is not illegal. Challenging election results in court is not illegal. Ultimately there are plenty of times when legislations creating a new set of electors is perfectly legal.

Had Pence decided to not hold the election counting that day... he would not have gone to jail. Someone would have challenged that authority in court and ultimately the USSC would have made a call.

The fact that many "legal scholars" believe that Trump/Pence would have lost in that situation does not mean that the "Broke the law" anymore than Obama broke the law by creating an executive action regarding DACA that he had himself (previously) admitted was outside if authority. Eventually his action was overturned by the courts... but he was not arrested for being wrong in his actions (even if he was originally right to say it was wrong).

So my question Reverend?

Are you bearing false witness by lying about what I said?

Or do you really have that much trouble understanding it?

Latvia Becomes the Newest Target for Russia's Denazification Program

Russian Presidential Press Service via AP

Though Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was nothing more than your basic landgrab, Putin felt obliged to tart up his justification with a noble purpose. First, he cited the plight of the people living in Donbas without bothering to mention that their plight is a direct outcome of Putin’s policy of violating Ukrainian sovereignty by setting up two feeble, bullsh** “republics” whose sole purpose was to create a perpetual casus belli with Ukraine. Then he brought up the necessity for denazifying and demilitarizing Ukraine and bringing the perpetrators of “genocide” in Donbas to account.

Ukraine is a nazi nation?????

to be clear...

I stated VERY CLEARLY

that the facts are not in dispute. There is no need to "prove" that the former President was looking for ways to overturn the election before it was officially counted. He filed dozens of court cases, some of them still pending when Pence officiated the counting of the votes.

None of those court cases were illegal. Filing them was perfectly legal. The interpretation of the laws that they used to suggest that Mike Pence could delay the count was never ruled on, even as most scholars thought that Pence did not have that authority.

All those facts are out in plain sight. Nobody disagrees with those "facts".

So when you hear "smoking gun proof" you are either dealing with a complete moron or someone who believes "you the reader" are a complete moron.

Because this dispute is 100% about the law and 0% about the facts.

To be perfectly clear... the same legal scholars (Turley, McCarthy, etc) who agree that Pence did not likely have authority to delay the counting also are pretty much unanimous that Trump did not really commit any crimes by wanting him to. You cannot be sent to jail for misinterpreting an election law that eventually will be settled in court.

The Department "OF"?

The AG has all the facts Roger. If Merrick Garland is not smarter about the law than Liz Cheney then he should resign in actual shame, renounce his citizenship, and move to some small central American country.

The AG could open a Grand Jury on the topic any time he so chooses and could have done so almost immediately upon taking office. There is nothing "new" in terms of the law. The law has not changed and will not change. The facts have NEVER been in dispute.

No AG worth his salt would bow down to the recommendations of a "partisan" House investigation that was always nothing more than people who want to undermine the probable 2024 GOP nominee for President.

It cannot happen. Period. Full stop.

Even the juice box mafia agrees with me -

Ultimately, the committee doesn’t get to indict Trump

The January 6 committee has signaled that its endgame may be to recommend criminal charges against Trump — issuing a report documenting evidence for charging him with obstruction and conspiracy, and making a legal argument for why he should be charged.

But, like Judge Carter, the committee can only offer their own opinion. The people who will make the call on whether to charge Trump are the prosecutors and leadership of the US Justice Department. And it’s not at all clear whether they are sufficiently persuaded by these arguments to take that enormously consequential, sure-to-be-controversial action.

Prosecutors have charged more than 700 people with crimes related to the January 6 attack. These charges have focused on people who actually broke into the Capitol building or who conspired to have others do so. No aides to Trump, current or former, have been charged for their actions that day.

Trump called on his supporters to come to Washington on January 6 (he tweeted “Be there, will be wild!” in December), and when he spoke at the rally he encouraged them to march to the Capitol and suggested he’d join them (but ultimately didn’t). He clearly wanted his supporters to make a big disruption, and he and Giuliani were pitching various procedural gambits his congressional allies could use to delay the vote count.

But did he envision that the mob would physically break into the building, before it happened? There’s no real evidence of that so far. That means any prosecution of Trump would likely be less about the actual break-in at the Capitol and more about his efforts to overturn the election outcome through political pressure.

Judge Carter and the January 6 committee leaders argue that Trump’s political pressures on Pence and others did amount to lawbreaking. The question is whether Attorney General Merrick Garland and other top Justice Department leaders agree. And as of yet, they haven’t gone there, or anywhere particularly close.

This article has been updated to reference a CNN story on Trump’s January 6 call records.

Post ALL of the shit you stole from Jen Rubin, alky -

Former acting solicitor general Neal Katyal has been voicing this exact argument for some time. “Judge Friedrich’s decision means the prosecutors don’t have to show someone intended violence for it to be a crime,” he explains. “So long as the intent was to influence and disrupt the congressional function of counting the votes, that is sufficient — so long as it was done ‘corruptly.’ ” Katyal notes that the judge cited “a prior ruling by a conservative superstar jurist, Judge Laurence Silberman, [who] defined ‘corruptly’ to be doing something by unlawful means.”

Katyal argues: “So as long as the intent was to disrupt the count, it would suffice to be criminal, which of course makes a lot of sense given the grave stakes here.” What is true of these two defendants, he adds, “goes for others, including anyone in the White House who aided the disruption.” He concludes that “Judge Friedrich’s decision, at bottom, is a how-to manual, demonstrating how government officials, including President Trump, can be criminally indicted."

And Rubin, suffering from Stage IV TDS herself, quotes every other Stage IV TDS sufferer in DC.

And "so long as it was done ‘corruptly'?"

What in the actual fuck does that even mean?

So now we're potentially prosecuting this as a thought crime.

Which has been the interesting point being made by people like Turley and McCarthy and other legal scholars who actually care more if they are correct than if they satisfy a particular partisan opinion...

There is almost no question that Trump believed that he was cheated, that he could eventually prove it in court, and that Mike Pence should have been able to delay the Electoral College Count. There is enough evidence that he believed that and more.

There is no evidence that Donald Trump believed that he legitimately lost, that he was filing red herring court cases that had no merit, and that Mike Pence would be breaking the law. He even had legal people around him convinced that all was true.

There is no crime in being "wrong" about that...

There would only be a crime if they can prove that Trump believed that he lost fair and square and that he was just trying to otherwise cheat to victory. Obviously no state could just send different electors unless they got some sort of favorable court rulings to overturn or hold up the certifications. He could not win unless there were alternate electors. The ONLY way his plan worked is with favorable rulings and favorable Congressional actions. Eventually he also would have known that anything like this would be settled in court.

'Copious' evidence of Trump's criminality still may not force Merrick Garland to act: former prosecutor

Sarah K. Burris

April 11, 2022

Former prosecutor and Los Angeles Times legal analyst Harry Litman explained Monday that Attorney General Merrick Garland has all of the evidence about the January 6th MAGA riots that the House Select Committee investigating the riots has.

What's more, Litman thinks that Garland likely has much more information than what the committee possesses.

MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace addressed the decisions that the J6 committee is weighing about whether or not to issue a criminal referral for former President Donald Trump. They've made it clear that they have the evidence to prove that he was responsible and could be held accountable.
