No Trans...

It's no secret that many military leaders were against the policy of allowing transgenders into the military. This was exactly why they pushed so hard to "stall" the implementation of the previous executive order to require the military to accept them. I generally believe that the six month time frame to study the impact, was never more than a stalling tactic to come up with a good reason to justify the preconceived decision. Military leaders originally wanted two years delay.

Keep in mind that transgender people have always been technically banned from serving (at least since transgenderism has become a thing). There was just an order to "change" that policy, that had been stayed pending more study. So technically this is not so much a "change" in policy, as it is a decision to continue the existing policy and to "not" change it to allow transgenders to openly join and serve in the military.

I would think there is a compromise for this. Certainly, you cannot simply allow people to join the military, force the Government to pay for the surgery, have them out for an extended period of time (recovering), have to monitor the after surgery steps (including ongoing medications), etc...

If the military can deem someone ineligible for military service  for having eczema (because it's a burden to carry and apply cream in active combat conditions) then certainly you can ban someone for military service who is going to be going through a major elective surgery.  In fact, the list of conditions that disqualifies a person for military service is extensive. Pretty much anything that requires daily medication disqualifies you (as it would create an undo burden on the military to have to provide such medications under combat situations). Obviously you do not want to see a diabetic die in a combat environment because they ran out of insulin.

It seems to me that this isn't so much "discrimination" as the left will argue, as it is that the left is crying "discrimination" in order to force the military to make a medical exception as it pertains to Transgenders who likely require daily hormone and other medications to fight possible medical complications from a sex change operation.

So either the person agrees not to have the surgery while in active duty, or enlists after their medical issues have been resolved (and no longer require daily attention).  Then I would believe that there would be little reason to ban individuals who agree to those conditions.

So technically this is not so much a "change" i

So technically it only discriminates against a small group of soldiers, willing to serve and die for the country. Seems okay to you CH, but then again, you also think bakers should not have to serve gays. Consistency is the sign of small minds.

Well Opie they also discriminate against morbidly fat people who are willing to serve and die for their country.

Because they are unfit for the duties that will be required of them.

C.H. Truth said...

I guess they discriminate against people with skin conditions who are willing to serve and die for their country as well...

The entire concept of the military is that everyone needs to be able to (at all times) serve in a potential combat situation in a manner that does not burden that person or anyone around them.

What you are looking for here... is that the Military should "change" said policy to allow for a special group of people to join even though they cannot abide by what everyone else is expected to abide by.

This is not discrimination, Opie... this is "crying discrimination" in order to receive special privilege.

C.H. Truth said...

They also discriminate against people with diabetes, people who have had hernias, people who are anemic, people with hearing problems, people with bad eyesight, people with irritable bowel syndrome, people with hemorrhoids, people with cirrhosis, people with pancreatitis, people with celiac, peopel with bad teeth...

The list goes on and on...

I would offer that this is more about being qualified (healthwise, physically, mentally, etc)... than it is about discrimination.

wphamilton said...

I admit that I haven't kept up with the issue very closely in recent years. Has current thinking changed on the diagnosis?

If I understand it correctly, whenever a person's perceptions, especially self perceptions, represent a dysfunctional break with physical reality, it is almost by definition a mental illness. Diagnosis depends on the severity and the cognitive impact. It seems to me that gender confusion, transgenderism or whatever you want to call it, is a clear example of that kind of psychological disturbance. I am aware that certain political organisations have removed the pathology label from the condition. I realize that none of what I am writing here is politically correct, but is it (still) medically correct?

Understanding those people suffering from the condition, having compassion for them, eliminating discrimination, and even making accommodations for them are all worthy goals. But to those who demand that the rest of us go further, that we must accept the delusions of the mental illness as if it were reality, I have to wonder why they would expect mentally healthy people to accept such coercion. It seems to be an extension of the mental illness, as if accepting that pretending makes it so for your own perceptions, then you can further pretend that you can force everyone else to pretend along with you.

Be that as it may, do we really want to force the US Military to accept as reality, those pathological self-perceptions or any other? Given that the US military are not medical organizations, nor ostensibly political ones, it is not only understandable that they resist such pressures, but clear-thinking Americans should insist on it. I don't care what Transgender folks think, or where they go or what they do, but we must not allow any mental and emotional pathology to dictate policy that impacts national security and self-defense.

Late Tuesday afternoon, it was announced that Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fl.) had fired shady I.T. staffer Imran Awan after being arrested trying to flee the country amid a criminal investigation. And yet the “big three” networks ignored this piece of breaking news.

ABC’s World News Tonight, the CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News saw no reason to cover this disturbing story involving double billing, Hezbollah, smashed hard drives, and possessing the e-mails and files of leading congressional Democrats.

Thankfully, the Fox News Channel’s Special Report filed a full report. Host Bret Baier began by stating he had “some breaking news”:

The investigation to a Capitol Hill computer scandal has taken a dramatic turn. Fox News has learned one of the I.T. staffers are being investigated in the case is now under arrest, caught as investigative say they tried to leave the country last night.

Chief Washington correspondent James Rosen revealed that Wasserman Schultz had just fired Awan, “a Pakistani-born I.T. technician who has worked with several family members to perform computer services for Wasserman Schultz and other leading Democratic lawmakers.”

Great win as donnie pats himself on the back and claims it would not have happened if he wasn't elected. Yeah sure.....Sure seems to me the taxpayers of Wi bet on the come line that their 3 billion would not go to waste.

caliphate4vr said...

“America does not have a single LCD plant to produce a complicated system. We are going to change that," Foxconn chairman Terry Gou said at the White House news conference. "It starts today with this investment in Wisconsin."

At 20 million square feet, the factory would be three times the size of the Pentagon, making it one of the largest manufacturing campuses in the nation. It would initially employ 3,000 workers making an average of $53,900 a year.

"Today we’re announcing the single largest economic development project in the history of Wisconsin and one of the largest in the history of this country," said Walker, who called it the largest job creation project in the nation in an undeveloped greenfield. "This is literally number one."

The deal comes as President Donald Trump seeks to fulfill a promise to bring manufacturing jobs that have been lost in recent decades back to the United States.

U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan, whose district in southeastern Wisconsin would be home to the facility, called the deal a "game changer" and praised President Donald Trump and Walker for working to make it happen.

"This shows actual results — getting it done," Ryan said.

I wouldn't hold my breath about this great news....

In the past, some Foxconn investments have failed to materialize. They also claim 10,000 construction jobs for 4 years....Yeah, sure......

In November 2013, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett announced that Foxconn planned to invest $30 million in a “high-end technology manufacturing facility” with 500 jobs. The company has a small research operation in Harrisburg, Pa., but the factory was never built.

Similarly, the Washington Post reported in March that Foxconn has spoken of making major investments in India, Vietnam and Brazil, but with results that have not matched the original announcements.

At $3 billion for 13,000 jobs, the deal would cost $231,000 per job. The subsidies would total more than the combined yearly state funding used to operate the University of Wisconsin System and the state's prison system.

I know I do, I also know that boyObama did not lower my taxes, in fact due to the tax hike that is Obamacare my "taxes" for my premium and my deductible went up.

Some good news and some bad from the little boyObama hold over whore Yellen. She did not raise rate at the latest FMOC, but, is dumping debt onto the economy that was piled up under boyObama. She has both feet on the Economic brake.

Let's do the math together.

"At $3 billion for 13,000 jobs, the deal would cost $231,000 per job."

3 billion / by 13,000 jobs = 230,796

what difference does rounding up make, well , for those of that can do math correctly, it makes a YUGE difference, see I do/have signed the front of payroll checks.

How Yugely is the difference, well:

204 dollars per employee x 13,000 employees = $2,652,000 a year.

that is one heck of a difference, but, oDopie you stand by your math, having never signed the front of a payroll check.

That was easy, next.
#MAGA by keeping American Dollars here in the US .

"Highlights
Net exports in second-quarter GDP look to get a break as June's goods deficit is a smaller-than-expected $63.9 billion vs expectations for $65.0 billion. Exports surged 1.4 percent in June led by food products but also including a big gain for capital goods exports and also vehicle exports. Imports of goods fell 0.4 percent with sizable declines for industrial supplies and consumer goods."

This is happening now because of President Trumps America First Agenda.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/26/business/foxconn-factory-wisconsin-jobs.html

Foxconn, the Taiwanese electronics supplier for Apple and other tech giants, said Wednesday it would open its first major American factory in Wisconsin, a boost both for the battleground state’s economy and the Trump administration’s efforts to bolster domestic manufacturing.

White House officials noted President Trump’s direct negotiations with Foxconn for the project, which they said would create at least 3,000 jobs and represent a $10 billion investment.

Seems to me if you knew anything about manufacturing electronics, it is highly automated with few employees...13 K would be enough people for 6 plants, not 1
